Here is the first installment of the new DISboards' Photo Scavenger Hunt, 28 Things! This hunt's theme is none other than Mickey Mouse. As Walt Disney said himself, "...it all started with a mouse."

What better way to kick off this project?

First, I want to thank sh1ft.org (http://sh1ft.org/26things/) and all of the hard work they've put into the 26 Things project over the years. I've both watched and participated each year and loved every moment of it. You can check out some submissions from past 26 Things projects at Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/26things/).

Second, why "28 Things" for this project? I'm glad you asked. Mickey Mouse debuted in 1928. Since everything Disney began with that mouse, we're going to continue to pay homage to him with each installment of our new little game.

Finally, the "rules" of the game:

This is a game -- no winners / prizes.
28 "items" will be posted (each item will be related to the hunt's theme -- but it is up to you to interpret them however you see fit.
Based on your interpretation of each item, you post a photo (film or digital) that represents your interpretation.
You are allowed to make basic changes to your submissions -- but, please, no heavy manipulation.
You may present your photos in any way you wish -- and you are responsible for posting/hosting your photos somewhere other than the DISboards.
Only post links to your submission within this thread -- please DO NOT post your pictures in this thread or on DISboards.
Your photos remain your own property.
Please do not post your submission until the deadline has passed.

No -- you do not have to take new photos in order to participate. You can indeed use photos from your collection. As long as they are your photos, it doesn't matter when you took them.

I guess I just don't have the time for another photo project at this time to attempt this one, but I like the idea alot! However, it may be helpful if you could post an example of how you want submissions to look so that people can better understand what you mean by not posting them here on the Dis.

Well I'm not a mod for or owner of the DISboards, but with 28 pictures per participant -- it would get very hard to navigate the thread and/or check out each participant's submission.

If they're posted off-site, all on one page, it will be easier on everyone. If anyone needs help putting that together, I will be more than happy to help.

Oh! I get it now. I admit, I was little confused. haha. I'm a little too swamped right now to participate, but I like the idea.

I'm new to all this, just want to be sure I understand. We can use an outside photo site (like Flickr or Photobucket), create a new album on that site and post all our photo submissions there, then just post a link on the DIS, right?

Now, do all the photos have to be Disney-related? I realize Mickey and Minnie are (obviously), but for #1, mouse, could it be a field mouse?

This will be kind of neat, if I can find the time - gives me a reason to go back thru all my old photos and see if I have anything that fits the categories. What I should do while I'm looking back is delete all those photos that I really shouldn't have saved to begin with - I'll prob. free up tons of space!:)
