Sorry if there is a Canadian Free dining thread somewhere's else. I was just wondering who is trying to book their free dining for September today and how well everyone does?

I'm on the East Coast so my TA has already called and she had no problems getting FD for my resort and dates. We just cancelled our old reservation and added a new one. My total cost for 8 nights, 9 days at POP, MYW tickets and Free Dining for two adults came to $1310.00 American.

How did everyone else make out?

I have to admit to being a little surprised to get exactly what we wanted...

I called at exactly 7am - and was on hold for almost 30 minutes - however, I also went online at the same time to have all the info at hand. I noticed that there was a link on the Canadian Disney website "Free Offer" - clicked it - sure enough, it was Free Dining - with the ability to book ONLINE.

So, I had a brand new ressie booked by 7:07 - and then simply waited on hold to cancel the old one.

I think booking online got us what we wanted:

2 Adults, 2 Juniors (ages 3-9)
Aug. 25 to Sept. 1 (Free Dining Package)
Sept. 1 to Sept. 2 (Room only on 20% PIN discount)
5 Day Base Tickets
at...

All Star Music - FAMILY SUITE

Total cost is about $2,460 - not bad (about $715 less than if it had been totally rack rate and paying for dining)

I truly thought that we would have to settle for two connecting rooms - nope! We got it. Although, reading through other threads, the Family Suites are really hit or miss - a few are getting them, a few aren't.

Congrats to everyone that booked :thumbsup2

We did free dining last year at this time, but couldn't handle the summer heat :sunny: So we're going in November this year, staying off-site to save money and that way we can still dine wherever we want.

Yes, my TA also managed to get me the free dining for my visit Sept 14-21. I had already booked the trip and my reservations were already made. So a nice discount off my price. More spending money!! :goodvibes
I was also lucky to be able to stay at my original resort of POFQ.

My TA was able to add the free dining to our existing reservations. We're at POR Sept 13-22, standard room, 10 day Park Hopper, Water Park and More passes with free dining. Saved about $1100.00 from the regular Disney quote and around $750.00 from the CAA quote.

VERY excited! 6th time at Disney but 1st with the dining plan. Now I'm trying to convince my husband that upgrading to the Deluxe plan is a great idea..LOL!

Well this is our first trip to WDW and what better time to try it out than with free dining lol. We got what we wanted we are going Aug 24-Sept 6 at All Star Movies preferred room with 10 base ticket for $2400 for 2 adults and 2 children. We are going through where we want to go so that this weekend we can book our ADRs. Any suggestion for must go for first timers?

Hey, maybe we'll see you there!!

-We are at ASMovies the 24th - 30th of August, preferred room as well. We are going with our 3 kids 11,8 and 5 turning 6 while we are there, plus my parents.
-We got 2 rooms for our family plus the 7 day base tix for $2300, then my parents got their room plus tix for $1100. Free dining saved us a total of $1050!!!!!YAY

-I would vote for as many character meals as possible, our kids really love those, and the food is usually buffet or family style, so lots of choice for kids, and quick too. We also love the Sci-Fi dine in, and we did do cinderella's royal table last year, which was well worth the experience (and the 2TS credits!) but it was the kind of thing I think you only need to do once. This year we are going to try the Hoop de Doo...
-Our ADR's include:
Crystal Palace
Tusker House
Coral Reef
Sci-Fi
Liberty Tree
and of course Hoop de Doo (on DS's birthday)

I really wanted to get chef mickey's, but all full up, which brings me to my most important suggestion - make the ADR's as SOON as possible so you get what you want, and decent times. HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!

Add us to the bunch. We are going Aug. 24-Sept. 1 @ POP with friends. They have 2 adjoining rooms and we have one (9 people in total).

We have our ADR's @: Hoop de doo, Captains Grille, Chef Mickeys, Biergarten, Whispering Canyon, 50's Prime Time, Boma, Tutto Italia thus far.

Can't wait. We have our disney cruise in Oct. but saying no to free dining is so hard and our friends wanted to go so we thought why not, lets do it!!! Can't wait.

I'm so excited. I booked my sis and I for 8 nights at POP from Sept 12 to 20 with free dining. This will be my second trip and her first trip to WDW. I stayed at CSR last trip, but wanted to save money this time around so we went with POP which I had heard good reviews about on DISboards. We haven't booked our flights yet, but are going to check out Air Miles to see if we can get something for a reasonable number of miles. Also, we have to book our ADRs soon so we can get the restaurants and times we want.

I can hardly wait... I'll be spending my birthday with Mickey!! :cheer2: Plus, the MNSSHP is on that night as well. Does anyone know how much tickets will cost, and when they are likely to go on sale? Thanks!

This certainly has been the "Year of a Million" changes to vacations for my DH and I! We originally were going to go to Disneyland ... bought the Entertainment book and got a great deal on the HoJo ($55/night). Then, 1 week after we booked, we got a 40% off code in the mail from WDW. Well, cancel HoJo and book All Star Sports September 12-20th (MNSSHP is my favourite and I couldn't pass up the chance to go). We were trying to do a cheaper trip and our budget for food was about $400 for the week. Well, then free dining was announced and it would only cost us about $80 to do free dining (and not have to eat counter service all week! Priceless!!) so we cancelled the room only and now have a package (with 8 day PH tix) at All-Star Sports, same dates. All of our ADR's are made so now we can sit back and count down the days! We have done the dining plan before but never free dining ... is it true the food tastes better when free??;)

Well we crunched the numbers and couldn't resist either. We still have southwest credit to use so it only made sense to spend a few thousand more....:lmao: I was looking at a week in Sept and then DH suggested 10 days so it isn't too rushed! So now we are booked for Sept 10-20 at POR! We went there for our honeymoon 11 years ago.....now we are going with 4 kids!
I'm now scrambling for Dining ressies. My TA will do the calling for me but I have to come up with 10!
Oh and the kids have no idea. I don't know when they'll find out!

We went for free dining last year for 14 days and didn't tell the kids until we were on the way to airport:woohoo:.
Might I suggest with 4 kids character meals. The characters come right to your table for autographs and pictures - no waiting in line for them. Also most of them are buffet type meals so there is something for even the picky eaters.

Our first time to WDW was during "Free Dining 2007"! :goodvibes We tried several places and some we are returning to this year (Bouncedback).

You should really try:

~ Crystal Palace (even with older kids, DH & I loved it, teen son didn't mind it, it is beautiful and the food is wonderful)!
~ Boma's - we LOVED this place and neither DS or I are very "adventuress" eaters. It is awesome!
~ 50's Prime Time - this place is so much fun! We ate there twice, because we enjoyed the atmosphere and food so much the first time, we cancelled Sci-Fi and booked 50's PT a second time on our trip!

These are our three "repeats"... the other places we ate did not impress us enough to try again! We are trying new places that we have hear good things about (like Le Cellier, Coral Reef, CRT, Chef Mickey's) so you may want to try getting ADR's at those places as well!

Have you already made ADR's? Places book quickly during the FD so it would be great to get those made ASAP! :goodvibes Enjoy!

Family of 6 staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins (kids ages 9,5,3, and 1) with a 5day MYbase ticket w/ free dining $2700. It would have been cheaper at Allsuites but I can't quite convince my hubby of just being on a bus...he likes the option of hopping onto the boat and heading over to the Contemporary and going on to the monoraila nd going where we need to. I am soo excited waiting to hear back if I get accepted to become an affliate for a company that will plan and help other save money going to the most magical place ever (obviously Disney...LOL). wish we good luck - if you want :)

You'll have a magical anniversary, I'm sure! Ours is December 28th, so we can never go anywhere much, because prices rise through the roof between Christmas and New Year. So I decided to celebrate our birthdays instead this year. We'll be at the Music, wish I could afford a moderate, but I prefer to go more often than have luxury. :)

ADR's so far:

We've been to WDW about 7 to 8 times, this is our first free dining so we really wanted to try things we haven't done before. Having said that, if Le Cellier has a spot that opens between now and then, we're gonna jump all over it. We love that place.:worship:

We were supposed to go with friends this Sept to Disney and were hoping to get in on free dining and/or the 40% off pin code....well we found out we are expecting this fall so we cancelled but our friends decided to still go...we encouraged them to call CRO and ask about a code attached to their names as we had received one via email. Luckily the CM told them she would give it to them even though they only had a 20% off code. Pixie Dusting #1 :wizard:

Then when free dining was announced we told them to call immediately and see if they could switch their ressie over...they waited so long and we were thinking they would miss out. So when he finally calls the CM they told them to choose which they wanted they could not have both...so he hangs up to discuss it with his wife and calls back only to get a CM that says "Oh don't choose, we can give you both!!!" So they are going for 7 days in September with both 40%off AND free dining!!!!!!! Pixie Dusting #2 :wizard:

I now officially hate them.....well not really but I am soooo jealous!! :worship:
