We have recently purchased a camper and the kids (and mom) are dying to bring it to Disney. Any advice or tips or comments would be most appreciated. We are trying to convince our Disney Dad that it will be somewhat less expensive! Thanks in advance for your replies.:goodvibes

While we LOVED Ft. Wilderness, gotta be real and say that it was almost as expensive as a value room for a preferred campsite and the sites are a little squishy. We have a 29' Class C and had quite a time getting into our space - almost on the circle edge and it was a little stick given that all other spaces around us were occupied.

On the other hand - comfort station was pretty comfortable and VERY well maintained. We could (and did) walk to the lake as well as the central "lodge", but the lake and boats, etc. were really a hike rather than a walk. All staff were very nice.

Definitely a good experience. Only "complaint" was the cost - granted we were there for Christmas week, which is the most expensive time of the year, but with the extra fee for our little dog (who is paper-trained anyway), we paid almost $100./night in 2005. That was just about the same price as All Stars and Pop!

Would we go again - probably, but not til the cost of gas stabilizes!

only if you can help drive the thing and pay for the gas.

While camping is no longer the affordable way to go, there still are ways to save money, such as you can make meals in your camper, depending on how you eat that can save you alot of money, you can also book a regular site as compared to a prefered site and save alittle money there as well. You are going to come out cheaper staying in a value resort but then you won't have the " comforts of home ".

What ever you decide, you're going to have fun ! :wave2:
