View Full Version : Am I the only one disturbed by the "Ask for a supervisor!" RE: Dining past the 20th?

Im seeing so many posts that are just encouraging people to witch and moan until they get their way. It's kind of disturbing to me.
I wanted to go in October when I booked Bounce Back - Bounce Back wasnt availible in October, I then booked Sept. I didnt ask for a supervisor....
It was clearly stated through the 20th. In the past, Im well aware you were able to get whatever special/discount was going on, as long as you had started on the day of. BUT - I thought this promotion specified otherwise.
Im a little disheartened by the whole "Gimme your supervisor" madness.
JMHO - of course. YMMV. ;)

You have to do what you have to do to get consistency. Trust me, in the line i work in, i'm used to it. If on thursday they deny me, I will politely ask for anyone who can help me. Because there has to be some kind of consistency. Period.

This promotion allows guests to stay beyond September 20 and still get the offer. Some of the Disney agents are not aware of this.
There have already been numerous instances in which the agent, upon being asked to check, came back on the line and said "I was mistaken -- you can stay past September 20 with this offer."
People are perfectly justified in asking for a supervisor if the agent gives out incorrect information.

Some CMs just dont know what they are doing.......
I clued my cousin in that free dining started yesterday and for him to call (for some reason he thinks I am his travel agent lol) and even though I was on the computer with him while he was on the phone with Disney they STILL got it wrong. I kept telling him it is too much money I think they are charging you for the dining and he in turn is asking the CM and telling her are you sure this is free dining. Plus she was giving him only a 5 day hopper with water & More......for like $600 more than the quote I was giving him
End of story....I had to call back and the CM I spoke to said that he was being charged for dining, which she fixed and :confused3 upgraded his ticket to the full 8 days and he saved big bucks....
I dont understand some of the cms.....I thought most of them are together in a call center now....

Where is it "written" on the ad for this promo........maybe extended past 9/20/08? When we booked our Sept FD bounceback..the ending date was
9/27/08. After reading the Dis for the past 6 mos, I have come to the conclusion that the CRO CMs take it upon themselves to decide who shall be allowed to book what dates! Many people were allowed to book past the 9/27 date....and a whole lot of us were told "NO"! (numerous times). I agree it's a real shame. CRO is computer based and the CMs should know the exact details of a promo this big. People should not have to ask for the supervisor, nor should the others, who were denied the extension past the promo ending date feel hurt or ripped off!

I agree. I booked bounceback and also - as I stated - wanted to go in October. I was told "No, it ends the 27th"
I was also told it was a maximum 10 days - which my travel agent was able to add 2, too.
So yes - I understand the inconsistancies is frustrating. But some of the posts show :headache:  - instead of working with the CM, KWIM?

because you can call 10 times and get 10 dif answers....until that is not true nothing will change...if someone can get it past that date then good for them that means it is not impossible, i know it is upsetting when someone cant get what someone else did but thats the way it is sometimes.last year when some people got the big 40% off code and some didnt there were plenty of mad people saying how wrong it was and that these people would get charged more when they checked in and it simply did not happen...if someone calls and says can i have such and such code and they say yes then why are they wrong to take it? if someone asks can i get free dining past the 10th and someone tells them ok then why shouldnt they? they are not stealing, they ask, they say yes...they should have the same answer to everyone but as many people have learned they dont.I am not doing free dining this year because i would rather go in dec(40% code that was sent to me) but i hope everyone gets the dates they need..people ask to speak with a superviser because they are not getting the service they need and thats ok thats what there jobs are, they know they are going to have to speak with unhappy people and thats what they are trained to do and they will not give someone the meal plan extra days if its not allowed...

I think the big upset here is the CMs are not giving the same information:confused3 If the rules changed from previous years and FD couldn't be extended like in years past, nobody would have a problem with it. But some people are being told it can't be extended and then finding out others had no problem extending it....that's where the "give me a supervisor" comes in. I can't say I blame them.

I definantly agree....I am not upset with anyone for trying to get the best beal possible. I am simply upset with WDW for not having their CMs properly informed. WDW's PR dept. needs an overhaul, along with their CRO CMs. But if WDW decides today that many of their CMs were allowing booking dates not included in the FD promo...and they suddenly mandate that any add'l bookings fall within the promo dates...... it is their right to decide how many FD bookings they will allow their CMs to book. I do not feel the 40% codes apply, since they are sent out randomly...and not offered to the public on a first come first serve basis. The fact is...WDW will only allow free dining for certain resorts on certain dates...as long as they do not lose $$$.

We all were waiting to see if ANYONE would be able to book after the 20th. I saw more posts about people doing it than others not....until recently. I think they should have made the computer not be able to extend it.
I think everyone just wants the same deal,,,to be treated the same. Which seems fair....

Yes I am one of the ones who had to get on with a superviser. That said, I have no problem with Disney ending a promotion on 9/20 and enforcing it.IF THEY ENFORCE IT FOR EVERYONE.The problem is if you call disney 10 times you will get 10 different answers to a question. My problem is with the consistency of disney cro. They need to get their ducks in a row and everyone needs to be on the same page.incidentally, I was never rude or mean to the Cms I dealt with.Nor did I throw a fit or a sense of entitlement at them.If after talking to guest services they would have said NO, I would have let it drop.

I agree with you! It seems like everyone is trying to get Disney to cut cornors these days. If they can't get the discount or promo that they read about on these boards they will call back 100 times until they find some one willing to give them the same discount. To me all the fuss and stress over it takes the magic out the the vacation before it even starts.

When I called Monday afternoon, my friendly CM put me on hold when she realized my departure date was past September 20th. 5 minutes later she returned, apologized for the delay and told me that she had asked a couple of supervisors if the promotion would be applied past the 20th or not, and then she told me nobody actually knew. So...she said lets just put the code in and see what happens. She put in the code and her total was within $2 of my own guess of what it would be with FD. I told her the total sounded good to me and she said well it looks like it works for departures after the 20th (or something to that effect). In any event, I didn't have to ask for a supervisor, my CM asked one on her own.

I agree that there's not a lot of consistency between CMs. We booked the bounceback when we were there last year for Sept 23-30th at the Poly. Now we're expecting our third baby so we wanted to change to a moderate. I called 4 times and was told I couldn't change, but to keep trying back in case something became available. Finally I got a CM who said he couldn't change it but he would talk to someone in GR who could. 10 minutes later my resort was switched from the Poly to CBR. I then asked if I could add one night to stay through Oct. 1st, but was told no, it wasn't available. Well, yesterday I called to check about adding an extra night and got it with no problem. :wizard: It seems to be true that if you don't get what you want during the first call just keep calling back and checking.

Disney will probably fix this loophole next year. (Or maybe tomorrow?)
As I said in another thread we are sometimes victims of our own success. We post the "exceptions" that someone makes and they become the rule. If that's not what management wanted the system is fixed so that there is no way for a CM to "bend" the rule.

I don't think it's a loophole, I think it was always intended to be for packages that begin by 9/20. I think the problem was just uninformed CM's. If it wasn't intended to be this way, I don't think it would be able to be booked this way online, and I just booked it. However, try to book this offer with a check in date starting 9/21 and the error screen pops up.

ANYONE TIRED OF REALLY RUDE CMS? this is why alot of people ask for a superviser....this is what happened this morning..
i called and I must have gotten the MOST RUDE cm that works at disney...I have never gotten someone like that while calling disney, i told her what i wanted she asked me if i wanted ddp i say yes so she charges me for ddp so i say no, i want the free ddp going on during that time...she says in a really rude voice "do you have a code?" she yells this...i said no but it IS open for the public i just tried to book it online on disney.com but it was to slow and u picked up first she says "u cant book this online mam! i said oh yes you can...so she gives me free ddp and then she yells at me when i need to make another resi..she gets all mad and said i wish you would have told me that before!I just said "listen lady i do NOT let my 3 yr old speak to me that way so I know someone at DISNEY is not going to either"!I told her to make the resi and then put me through to guest relations.I understand they are busy but there is NO excuse to treat a cust. that way...i was not calling just for a price I called to book 2 vacations!
BY THE WAY....I cancelled MY resi (still have one for dec that i got great service with) and booked with universal at royal pacific resort and got a great deal (fl resi rate and ticket)I kept my resi i booked for my sister because they have never been and i can meet up with them for dinner but WILL not be going after being treated so badly...yes i am sure that makes more room for everyones adrs and more room in line but at some point you have to put your foot down.

I didn't read the all the posts, but as a customer service rep I get this every freakin day. Some where at some point some book writting guru on how to get what you want. wrote if you don't get what you want from the person your talking to go over their head. and besides most people feel the rules apply to everyone but themselves. I am sick and tired of some sniveling little brat calling and not getting their way when they are obviously wrong "go over my head" ruining my stats, bonus, and raises only to be told by my supervisor the same flippin thing, No. you were wrong this is the rule and yes they do apply to you. All because they think they are special and the rest of the human race is beneath them.
I had the 40 % off code, I could use it beginning the 9th of Nov. I'm arriving on the 6th. So, I find another hotel for a few days. When will people learn you can't bully your way into getting what you want. Be glad your getting the freakin special in the first place, because many people will not.
Ok rant over.

your right about some of this...but in my case i got what i wanted, it was the way the women spoke to me,first she charged me for the ddp ok I just let her know i was getting the free ddp they were offering then she gets all lets just say peepeeish (to say it nice) she yells at me saying i need a code,i told her i didnt know the code but i know it is for the public now because i was online at disney trying to book it when she picked up so she YELLS at me that you CANT book it online (yes you can)...these are just a few things that happened...maybe she was having a bad day (it was 7:15 am ) i dont care if she was having a bad day she had NO excuse to yell at me...none...it doesnt matter i will have fun a universal..no biggie

So I'm looking online, and I could, if I wanted to, book a room right now with free dining that goes 2 days beyond the 20th. And get free dining.
I don't think it's a loophole, I think that we all got it in our heads that we couldn't go beyond the 20th b/c of rumors, and I think that the CMs who are saying "no" just aren't reading their emails (if that's how the higher-ups communicate with the CS reps).

I think the DDP gets charged as a one time fee for all party members and is not tied to actual vacation dates. As long as you check in on the
20th, you should be entitled to free dining.
Discounts tied to room rates are subject to change after the promotion (or season) is over since the system charges night by night now.
And I agree with some of the previous posters; if the CM's don't have accurate information polietly ask to speak with Guest Relations. An error by the CM can result in hundreds to thousands of dollars extra charged to the customer. We are more informed than the average public thanks to the dis and mousesavers - if we know more than their employees, shame on them! If Guest Relations gets annoyed, maybe they will see that the front line CM's get better training.
