Hello everyone!! It's been a long time since I've been on here but, I wanted to give you some updated information.
I'm CM(cast member) at the local Disney Store here in town. We have just heard that as of May 1, 2008 we will be owned again by the Disney Company!!!!!!!:cool1: I'm soooo excited!!! Now, I'm not sure if we will get the same discounts as from before, but that would be all new to me since when I started we were owned by The Children's Place company. That comany has gone bankrupt. I recieved letters in the mail yesterday saying that they owe all of these creditors!!
Anyways, I know that I personally LOVE working at the Disney Store!! Everyone is always so happy and friendly and you can't help but smile and laugh when you walk in there!!!:cutie: These discounts are just an added bonus for working to the closest thing of working for Walt Disney World!!!
The benefits I get are more that just numbers--They truly are magical!!:wizard: So, I hope all you Disney store fans will be excited about this as I am!!!
As more exciting news keeps coming, I will be sure to update you on what the cnages are and what's going on!!! :yay:  :woohoo: We ARE BACK!!!

That is great to hear. I hope they go back to the way the Disney Store used to be when I worked there in 98 & 99. They merchandise selections were so much better. I really miss working there it was the only negative income job I ever had. :rotfl2: Spent way more than I made.

I wish we still had our store in Columbus, Ga as well. Don't remember when it closed, but I sure do miss it, I spent alot of money in there. This may mean a trip to Atlanta.

I hope this is indeed true and that there will be changes made for the positive. The Disney Store that's closest to us USED to be amazing! It was very big and had lots of adult clothing as well as toys, collectibles, kids and baby clothing, etc. The store itself was themed incredibly and there were huge Disney character statues, etc in the windows that faced out into the mall. As soon TCP bought it, they closed down the original store(its now Hollister) and moved it down the mall next to The Children's Place and its about one fourth the size it used to be without the Disney "feel". No carpet. Bright flourescent lighting. It gets crowded in there so much that its like trying to maneuver thru a miniature WoD at times. I doubt the store can become bigger, but maybe we'll see some more Disney touches again.
Thanks for the good news....!!!

I've read that elsewhere too - I sure hope that they can get the stores back to their former glory, instead of the cheap, bargain basement decor they went to... the theming just to be incredible - now they are just bland.

Is there a list anywhere of the stores that they are definitely keeping. Everything I have been reading says yes they are taking control of the stores back, but are closing so many in the northeast. Just wondering if there was anything in stone about stores that are staying or closing.

Yes, there is a list out there that has the stores they are keeping open. I'm not sure what the site is, but I'm sure if you Google it, it will give the site to go to.
I'm not exactly sure if I remember what the stores looked like when they were owned by Disney before. But, I think some of the stuff is cute now!!:) I can't imagine what they would come out with next!!! ( not that I'm complaining!!!)
I'll see it I can find that web site and if I do, I promise to post it!!:goodvibes

Here's the link for the stores that I think they're either keeping open or closing:
http://chapter11.epiqsystems.com/cli...fea854c839&l=1
Click on the "Docket" link at the top of the page and find Docket #91 -- the "Images" link on the right is actually a number of downloadable files where all of this information can be found.
Hope everyone finds what they're looking for!!:confused3

This is fabulous news!! I remember the Disney store here in Tulsa the same way, they were so so..... Disney! :) The store hasn't been the same since Disney hasn't owned, very limited merchandise.

Oh, I wonder if that means they will reopen some of their closed stores! My girlfriends and I were talking yesterday about how we were Disney deprived, and we walked past the store in the mall that used to be Disney. It's closing, so we were talking about how nice it would be if Disney came back! Hey, I can dream! LOL

I got that same thing from that link. I called and talked to my GM today and they told me that there's a link on the bankruptcy letters I got that has a listing of the stores. I'm at work right now, but when I go and pick up my son from school, I'll get the letter and see what the link is. Hopefully, it will work this time!!:rolleyes1
Yes, I know!! I'm working and playing on the DISboards. What can I say?? I'm a true Disney fan!!!! Willing to risk losing my job!!! LMAO!!!! J/K (but, then again........)

I work at The Children's Place so I guess I won't be getting a discount at the Disney Store anymore.

OH I hope this is true and they try and make the stores like they used to be. I worked there when Disney owned them back in the 90's and there's no comparison. They have some cute stuff now but compared to what it used to be like they are awful. I hope they bring back the adult stuff...collectibles and watches!!!! Among the other stuff. I'm so excited!!

I totally agree!! :thumbsup2 The merchandise Is definitely of lesser quality!!:sad2: I have things that I bought 10 years ago at he Disney owned Disney Store and they are still in great shape!! :) The clothing selections for adults has been pretty non existent compared to when the Mouse was the boss!! It seems it has been geared more towards toys and cheaper quality clothes.:sad1:Even that Disney feeling in the store was not there anymore! pixiedust:NO magic or pixie dust!! Keeping my fingers crossed that it comes true!! Can't wait!!:woohoo:

Maybe with the creditor issues you mentioned, thats why our local Disney store shelfs seemed real thin as of late......Good news, this time I hope Disney manages the stores better..........

Disney bought back the stores nearly a year ago. I was really hoping by now that they would have brought the disney magic back.
Instead it still seems as though they are still trying to get rid of stock that was previously purchased by childrens place and very little new merchandise has been arriving.
Most of the time the stores around me look bare.:sad2:

Yep, I love the Disney store in Quail Spings (OKC) when Disney ran it. Can't wait till Disney reclaims it. Hope it is on the list to stay open. I can't get the link to open that has the list of stores that will stay open on it.

I haven't noticed any difference. Still look and feel the same to me. I worked for TDS for 3 years here in Indy and FL and loved my job! Loved our 'costumes' no matter what I had to wear. Even the cast members now don't even make it feel disneyish. It's pretty sad! I felt so much more magical going in the stores back then and the selection I agree was much better! sure miss those days! I still get excited when I find a store still decorated with the window displays like we had before most of the stores renovated and changed......I just loved going in to work, like a PP said, I always spent more on parking and shopping then I made in my paycheck but I ENJOYED every minute of it!!!:lovestruc
