And I just finally had a few minutes free to post about it! My daughters are dancing in a competition tomorrow, and I have been consumed with getting ready for that!
Anyway, I got an awesome package from our very own Merriweather. I had to dig through:
a package of Italian bowtie pasta
anti-bacterial hand soap (in one of my favorite B&BW fragrances!)
a pacakage of travel toiletries including a votive candle which will come in handy this weekend!
some Earl Gray and Green Tea
a dry measure conversion magnet
a liquid measure conversion magnet (both will come in very handy, as I am starting to teach my 9yo how to cook)
a package of recipe cards
a magnetic shopping list pad
a pair of spreaders that have chef handles
an oven mitt
a hilarious (and kinda gross looking :rotfl: ) plate of slimey linguini and roaches ala Ratatouille
something from the Cooking Club of America that I am assuming is a spaghetti serving measure
a goodie bag full of all sorts of things from pencils and pens to a sewing kit to candy to dental floss
And finally near the bottom of the box: the Washington State Bed and Breakfast Cookbook. I did a quick glance at some of the recipes, and they look great. I'll probably take it in the car to read tomorrow since DH is driving!
Thanks Nancy! I can't wait to try some of the recipes, and my 9yo is also excited at the prospect of cooking new things too!

:teeth: Glad it arrived.
I love reading that book.
And I love brunch and breakfast things, hope you do too.
The linguini and bugs was left over from the insect exchange :rotfl: I couldn't fit it into the package, so thought it would do for this exchange too ;)
Good luck at the competition.
I will be back in AZ 4-20-24

I am cooking the Garlic Stew Recipe tonight from the Jambalaya cookbook I received and since some asked for me to post the recipe when I cooked it here it is :thumbsup2
Seems pretty darn easy to me , hopefully I don't totally screw it up, I burned the steaks last night, and undercooked the hamburgers on Monday, so I have not had the best week, clearly I need a cook book!
6 Chicken Thighs
3/4 teaspoon salt , divided
3/4 teaspoon white pepper divided
3 cups water
20 Cloves of Garlic :worship: ( seperated and unpeeled)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup chopped celery including leaves
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup dry white wine
French Bread Heated
Season chicken w/ 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Bring water to a boil. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Drain and rinse under cold water and peel. Coat the bottom of a shallow 2 quart casserole dish with oil. Add garlic, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, remaining 1/2 teaspoon pepper, celery, parsley and thyme. Stir in wine. Add chicken skin side down and baste. Cover tightly and bake at 375 for 35 minutes. Turn chicken baste and bake 40 minutes longer. Serve with French Bread !

Most of the recipies are from New England, Boston, Maine and CT. But, he was born in Jersey so there are some Chesepeke Bay recipes too. He explains everything in the book, I won't even try to , lol but apparently there is a difference in the seafood from the Alantic and the recipes :cool1:
It is my favorite resturant and I am eating there tonight !
To me a shrimp is just that a shrimp!
Enjoy:goodvibes

I brought new shoe racks at Amazon 2 years ago, that I was determined to get in this weekend, I did but I also got a ton of stuff out and now I want to put it all where it belongs so I just have piles of cr*p everywhere.

Lmao, I have good intentions, but I think not, My attic I have never been in, and I should use it for storage since it is finished, I had them out to blow insulation in the fall, and they said you know you have bunch of boxes up here right, Seems the previous owner left me an attic full of stuff... I'm checking in. I received my package on Saturday.
It included the following Arizona goodies:
prickly pear cactus taffy (flavor was a bit odd, plus it was not at all sweet)...but I ate it all:rotfl2:
sugar keeper with a quail design
Cactus salsa
2 potholder and a matching kitchen towel with peppers in frying pans
Salsa Lovers Cook Book
plus a citrus peeler and adjustable measuring cup
Thanks, Jessica for everything. Have you ever eaten any of that taffy???

You're quite welcome! Yes, I have tried the taffy. That same company makes a cinnamon prickly pear taffy that I personally like better, but the cinnamon flavor is very strong, so I don't like to send that one when I don't know people's tastes! You can also get Prickly Pear syrup which is great on pancakes!
When you live in the desert, you learn about all sorts of things you can do with cactus! :rotfl: Nancy will figure that out soon! :teeth:

It arrived. Had the paper from the postman on the door Fri evening, but I had to work the weekend-12 hour shifts and didn't get to pick it up until yesterday afternoon. I got 2 cookbook from Chris: Los Angels Times Cookbook and a Gourmet Recipes at Discount Prices Cookbook.
Thank you very much.

Mine just arrived!
Thanks, Cindy! She sent me The Garlic Lovers' Cookbook from the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association. (the garlic capital of the world!)
Did you smell the garlic coming off me all the way in CA or just guess that I'd love it?? (I'm 1/2 Italian so I cook with lots of garlic! ) She sent along some granulated garlic, too.
Can't wait to try something....I"m bringing it along to DSs dr appt so I can start reading.
