I know that we are suppose to be discussing the fort, but I have a favor to ask. My DD's school is holding their annual Countries Night, each class picks a country and does a ton of projects, reports, and research and then on one night they open it up to the public. It really is cool, they transform their classrooms into their countries. Anyway, DD has Kenya. Well, we were looking through our Kilamanjaro Safaris pics. and they aren't as great as I thought. So here comes my favor-if anyone has some pics from the safari that they wouldn't mind me printing I would really appreciate it. Maybe you were on a trip to the FORT;) and happened to ride the safari. Thanks in advance for any pics.

For these pictures I used a Panasonic Lumix FZ-20. A little large for some folks but it has a great 10x optical zoom.

http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/photo/detailspages/panasonic_fz20_size_300.jpg

Recently I picked up a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. Much smaller than the FZ-20 but it still has the 10x optical zoom. Also, increased pixel count, 3" screen and takes wide screen pictures. Takes great pics. I'll have to check for a few samples. Check out dpreview.com (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/PanasonicTZ3/page2.asp)

Sorry seabee, back on topic.

Wow Chris! Those pics are absolutely awesome! My pictures never come out that great on that ride because I am making sure my DH doesn't fall out of his wheelchair. :lmao: We almost lost him to the crocs one time on the "broken" bridge. Hilarious! Yeah, I guess we have a sick sense of humor.

Oh, these arent for me...there for Seabee's kids project...Im just enjoying the hell out of them and am totally impressed with you guys' photography skills!!!

I wasnt going to post this because it so completely doesnt compare to the quality or clarity of the pics you guys take....but then, I thought "Hey, maybe they'll realize how good they are when they see how horrible the avg joe's photo album is."

So....yes, this actually IS the BEST pic I got on safari:sad2:

Wow - you all got some awesome pics! I'm beginning to wonder if I went on the same safari ride as you all because the only thing I remember seeing was a squirrel. JK. We did see some, but not nearly as many and varied as you all.

I don't want to hijack your thread SeaBee, but, OT: I was wondering if maybe we went at the wrong time of day to see so many different animals? Since we went, I've heard you should either go first ride in the morning or sometime around dusk and you'll have a better chance at seeing them. Does anyone feel there is any merit to that?

Those are some excellent pics! This is the only one of mine that's even worthy of this thread, it's the Baobab tree:

Here's another pic outside the safari, you probably can't use it but I wanted to post it anyway, I think it's cute: :goodvibes

When we went last month, we rode KS first thing in am, and saw tons of critters, we went back later in afternoon, around 4 and only saw about a third. The only thing that we did see in afternoon that wasn't there in am was the hippo walking around out of the water, even the driver said that was rare. So we highly recommend going early, plus everyone else is trying to ride everest, so no line LOL

We have always gone to the first showing of the Lion King and then the safari after that, but we have never seen as many animals, or as well, as these pics are showing. I think we need to change our plan of attack! Or maybe not take our sweet ol time getting over to that side. These pics are awesome thank you all so much! By the way Rog, that pic wasn't bad, at least you got a good pic of the giraffes. The only one I have is of it hiding in the trees. Thanks again guys, the kids are gonna love it.

Kim,
Fantastic pics of the silverbacks. The only ones I have were taken through the glass wall. I like the gaggle of gators as well. I agree with going very early or very late. When we visit it is in August and terribly hot/humid when we go on the safari. You'll notice the lion and the cow like animals are taking it easy in the heat. I'm surprised that we saw as much as we did.

Rog,
I think that giraffe wants to play chicken.

Those were some great photos. I never got any to come out that good. Some day, when I can afford to have a hobby, I'd like to get back into photography. In the meantime, I get average "family album" kinds of shots, and own cheap cameras.

:) That giraffe was actually breaking into a slow gallup(sp) chasing after the safari truck, thats why we snapped the pic from so far away. It was like he was mad that we were in his hood....like a "girangsta"!
