Maybe someone can help me figure out weather or not I can qualify for free dining this year as it is our 3rd year going in September during Free Dining and we haven't been able to take advantage of it yet.
We are staying at the Beach Club Villa's for 10 nights: Sept 14-24th on rented DVC points (we are not DVC members). We already have our park tickets. BUT..... What if we were to purchase our Park tickets through Disney?.... would we then qualify for Free Dining? Also, we will probably be checking into the Polynesian on Sat, Sept 13th the day before we move over to BCV. What if I make that ressie and buy the park tickets all in one shot would that help? :confused3
Any insight is appreciated! :thumbsup2

No, the free dining is for cash reservations not point stays at DVC resorts.

I believe the minimum stay is 3 nights so it wouldn't work at the Polynesian either and even if it did, the dining plan would expire at midnight on the day you check out of the Polynesian.

So the Free Dining pkg has to be "room & tickets" not just "tickets" to qualify? We are staying in the Beach Club Villa's on rented DVC points. I understand what you mean when you say cash reservation, I just thought that I could somehow figure out a way to qualify for this. Last year one of the Cast Members tried to figure out how to help me and I thought that they had said if I were to buy my Park Hoppers through them during the Free Dining Offer then I could receive it. And I also figured booking a night at the Polynesian would help just a little .

It has to be room and tickets. A 1 night stay at the Polynesian won't help.

Sorry, "free dining" is only available if you book a package (room & tickets at rack rate) through Disney. Even though you're paying someone for a DVC stay, to Disney it is a points stay, not a cash reservation and it is not a package.

Since you are renting points, you will be able to get the DDP, you'll just have to pay the $38 per person/per day regular price --the member/owner can add it to your reservation.

Oh well :-( Thanks for all the info! :-)

think of it this way tho:
even if you pay for the DDP, the cost of your vacation will still most likely be much less than the same room with "free dining" (as you would need to pay rack rate for the room).
