It's killing me not to book this free dining. We have a 7 night cruise (RCI) booked for July, with three days in Disney before it. The whole trip is going to run around $7000. We could change to the free dining for 7 nights at the Beach Club and only spend around $3800, (we have some left over tickets). Only problem is I'm the only one who wants to do that. :rotfl: Oh well.

I'm out this year too. And I'm enviously reading the threads of people on hold. We've been the past 3 years and I got excited when I read that it starts the 24th of Aug - so theoretically we COULD go before kids start school. I even looked at airfare last night.
BUT, we just got back from WDW a month ago and we have a few weekend trips away planned for the fall AND I want to go to the Bahamas at the beginning of next year. It's just not in the budget to do yet ANOTHER trip.
But I'm certain I'll be back for Free Dining 2009 if it exists.

Is that Royal Caribbean? We did that last year but it only cost $3200 and that was a balcony cabin.
$7000 :scared1:

Oh my goodness, me too. I won't be able to sleep till it's done. I was up half the night as it was last night. Bad thing for me though- I have to wait till Thursday to book. :scared1:

It kills me also. We went last year, and loved it. We can deal with the hot weather, but loved the free dinning. The only week my wife can get off this year is early June (she is going to be traveling for work most of July - Nov so cant book anything then). Still excited to go, but wish I had free dining...

I actually shed tears this morning. We've been for the past 3 years, but won't be able to go this year during free dining. We run our own business, and it's seasonal. This is our second year, and last year we kinda lost money cause we went to Disney. My only consolation is that we may go the 1st week of December and I'll finally get to see all the Christmas decorations.

Killing me too-we are going the end of June and it is basically free cause my parents are paying for the room and I used money from selling the old gold to pay for tix and airfare. But I want to do the free dining!!We have gone last 2 years and loved it.I won't be doing many ts restaurants this trip and will miss some of them-maybe next year!

Add me to the list of dying to book FD. We've gone for free dining the last 3 years, but DD starts kindergarten this year. So she'll be in school during the dates of the promo :sad1: Plus I'll be going back to work also when she starts school. Oh well, I guess I should be happy that I get to go in 3 weeks :cloud9: Even though I have to pay for dining  This will probably be our last trip for awhile though.
So I'm trying to just look forward to the trip I have coming up, instead of being sad about NOT getting free dining.

Also can't go during free dining. Just had a new little one and can't bring myself to bring him to WDW in the heat of August, when he won't even be old enough to use sunblock on. So we will be the bad parents who take our High school and Jr high girls out of school for two days during NJ week in November. (never thought I would take one out of High School) I hate missing a bargain, but have to be grateful that we can afford to go without it, plus not sure how all those sit-down meals would go with a 5 month old.
I was glad to see the free dining come out for everyone else, and it made me hopeful for next year when we hope to do it (fingers crossed) for my older ones sweet 16 celebration with a couple of her friends. I figure we could do the trip quite a bit cheaper then renting a hall and getting a dejay and all, being our family would be having a vacation anyway.

Me too! I thought I was the only one! I really wanted Sept 26th so we could go when the kids have off for the Jewish holidays. We've gone the last 2 years and LOVED it! My oldest is too old to miss school for a vacation

can you book this direct yourself or do you have to go through Dreams Unlimited?

We called disney this morning and booked through them. In the excitement, I forgot about aaa travel. Does anyone know what extras you get by booking through aaa?

 Me too. But we already have two WDW trips booked for this year and I don't think there's a chance in the world I could justify a third! Even if we did a value w/ free dining it's the airfare, tix, kennel for the dog, etc. that gets us.

You're telling me. I sooooooo want to do this with some of our friends, but one couple has a teacher among them (which plays havoc with the available dates) and the other just doesn't want to "do" Disney. I can't really justify taking the same trip two years in a row with just DH.

I thought I was the only one!
We have our April WDW trip, and are scheduled to go to Aruba in December. So, really a third family trip would not be in our best financial interest.
Another reason it is killing me, is that my parents 35th Anniversary is Sept. 16! They honeymooned in WDW. I wish I could afford to take them with us and go during free dining. Rats!

Why? :confused3 OK I don't really need to know, but hubby and I (and the 3 year old) have gone to the same place multiple times! It's fun, you always find something new. :)
I'm not sure if not booking is killing me, but it's making me a little bonkers. I want to book, I want to go...but it's just not the best idea ever for us with this timing.

Well, that's not exactly all RCI. ;) The RCI part is $5000, (two PR cabins and $500 for drinks and tips). The other $2000 is the airfare and the three nights in Disney prior to the cruise. :) My husband says, drop the Disney part to save some money. I said, no way, that's my favorite part. :thumbsup2 I could give or take the cruise part, probably because out of the four cruises we've taken I've gotten sick on two of them. This time I was smarter and booked the Disney part before the trip instead of after, since being sick in Disney just stinks. You need alot of energy to pull off Disney. :thumbsup2

It's killing me too. We went last year and free food is good. I'm not taking vacation this year because my mom just passed away and I just can't go to Disney this year. :( A year ago, around this date I was so excited and now this year is so lousy.
We also have a lot to do with cleaning out her house and trying to sell it, plus now we have to take care of her elderly sick cat. I can leave my cats for a week with dry food, but her cat only eats canned.

I really truly am itching to get on the phone and just book it . . .but we'd be cutting it really close to DS first day of school (August 28th) it would feel rushed with only three nights. DH is letting me make the hard decision because if it was up to him, we'd just go go go . . .
DH and I are going for our 21st Anniversary in October and then in April 09, DS's high school marching band is performing there, so we'll be going then too. DH cannot figure out why I won't go three times (August, October, April) maybe if we were independently wealthy . . .:rotfl: I think sometimes he thinks that we are . . .:lmao:

We're out for free dining this year, too:sad: We booked the bounceback while we were there in September, but our oldest DS is starting high school this fall; so after LOTS of toying with going or not going, we decided it wouldn't be a good idea to pull him out for 6 days just a few weeks after school starts. And it doesn't look good for us for free dining in 2009 (IF it's even offered) because our other DS will be starting high school then....so free dining may be over for us:sad1: But on the bright side...we were able to take advantage of it in 2006 & 2007. As much as it hurt, I modified our free dining bounceback and we will be at the WL the week before Christmas:santa: (although having to pay for the DDP).

We will be missing it also. :sad2: :sad2: My DH and I are going 2 weeks earlier at the GF with the 40% off code. :thumbsup2 We thought of doing the free dining with the kids, but they are in high school and to take them out again this year would be impossible. :sad2: We did it last year and they missed so much in school. I love free dining!!
