The Wave, WDW's new upscale eatery, will debuts at Disney's Contemporary Resort sometime this summer. Located on the first floor. Thus far, this upscale restaurant will offer American cooking with flavors from all over the world. The seasonal menu will feature local and regional products when possiblewith an innovative wine and cutting-edge wine list.

Upscale. Cutting-edge. Sounds like another 2 TS credit spot.
ALways worry about these "exciting" advance announcements. Look what they were saying about Yak and Yeti--and look what we got.

Also, according to our server, the Steakhouse will be going away in a shuffle to make room for an expanded Chef Mickey's.
I'll revise this a little to say that our server was not saying that Chef Mickey's was taking over most of the floor, but that a few things were being shuffled around to, among other things, make a little more room for Chef Mickey's.

Frankly, I'd rather they just kept Concourse Steakhouse. The steak knives are sufficiently "cutting edge" for me.

Speak for yourself... I and many others like Yak and Yeti very much. The food there is better than half the restraunts on Property right now.

Chef Mickey's restaurant is not expanding and there are no plans to renovate it at all.

I thought the entrance was being expanded to accommodate the photo area better?

I was speaking for myself--and probably for the many others who DON'T like Yak and Yeti and see it as nothing more than an ordinary Chinese restaurant!!
And the "pre-opening menu" at the Wave dosen't excatly knock my socks off. Can't recall ever seeing Flank Steak in an upscale restaurant. Hopefully they can do better than this...

Anyone know if they will have Cast Previews, and if so when and how does one sign up?

Looks like they'll have good beer at any rate. That's a plus.
Might have to try it. Hopefully there will be plenty of reviews shortly after it opens. Chesire Figment, be sure to post something after you eat there! Thanks.

Given the restaurant has been pretty popular, I'd say you speak for a small minority.

Did that change? My server in December at Concourse said the same thing as the person you replied to said... that Chef Mickey's was being expanded. Of course the Express may be what she meant.

Of course the Express may be what she meant. My guess is they were getting the names mixed up. It's been confirmed for more then a year that the Concourse Steakhouse is becoming Chef Mickey's Express, which is to be the brand new counter service location that is replacing the Food & Fun Center. Plus that's what was said on the old renovation schedule from last summer.

Do you know if it is 1 or 2 TS credits? If I had to guess I would say it would be the same TS credit that the Concourse Steakhouse was to keep things the same, although I could be wrong about that.

This is hardly the venue for the naneenanee****oo type post but IMO you're dillusional if you think the overall reviews of Y&Y have been positive.:confused3 It's nothing more than takeout chinese found in any strip mall in any city in America.:dance3:
This new piece of crap looks like all the others, nothing cutting edge, nothing experimental, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing "wow"... in fact, the fact that the head chef hasn't been named for public consumption pretty much shows me the 'high hopes' Disney really has for this new chow palace.

I believe I should make a reservation --
lunch or dinner is the question !
Probably dinner.
We did need one more ADR.
Glad to read the DDE is accepted.

Actually, I think Pirate has hit the nail on the head regarding the Wave. As a "new" spot folks will swarm on over and for awhile it'll be crowded and the reviewers will say it was the best flank steak they have ever eaten anywhere. But then the "bad" and "so so" reviews will arrive and the Wave will probably settle in as another middling WDW restaurant.
Sort of like Yak and Yeti--:)

This place will be great because in WDW everything is great!
Even if it sucks it will be great because I'm high as a kite on the magically magical pixie dust! :goodvibes
Seriously, upscale, flank steak? Only in Disney could those two be in the same sentence.
