I was just wondering if anyone has ever gone to the Fort and not gone to any parks? I would like to go next summer and just be able to do all the things there are to do at the Fort.

yes we have done this, and had plenty to do at the Fort and had relaxation time too. Great trip.

Hi Christine. We normally do not go to any of the parks when we stay at Fort Wilderness. There is so much to do at the Fort and we really try to relax. The parks get so busy that we would rather go there on off times. Have a great time!!

If it was still just DH and me, then yes, we would still do trips to FW without the parks, but since I have DS4, we have to ride the peoplemover!;)

I am really hope everything works out so we can go, we have 3 kids DD17, DD13 and DS13 and they are all up for it, but have to get everything together.

My family went when I was little to the Fort and I want my kids to enjoy everything I did.

I want to go and not go to any of the parks the next time we go. I need to just relax and not run the whole time.

We've gone for 2 weeks and DH just met us there for the weekend. He didn't do any parks but joined us for a character breakfast at the poly and he went golfing one day while we were at the park. He made s'mores with us, watched the electric water parade and fireworks from the beach, then we took him back to the airport and shipped him back to work (someone has to make the moolah for us to go to FW :confused3 ) We did register him as a guest and it was a nice weekend getaway for him.

I prefer a trip that way...unless it is cool out and the parks are empty. Otherwise, much more fun just chillin' at the campground than dealing with tourists in the sweltering heat.

I'm with Steve. You can keep those Theme Parks for the tourists.

For our last trip we stayed at the Fort for a week and only did MK one day. Other than that we hung around the campground, walked around DD and just relaxed. For our next trip we may not do any parks at all. Then, sometime in '09 we'll probably do the whole shebang...Park Hopper, water parks, you name it. I'll be so tired out that I'll want to book another week or 10 days at the Fort just to relax again!

Our last trip we stayed a week and did 2 days at the parks. I'm not sure the DDs would be real happy if we skipped them, but DH and I are content to do everything else. It was a real nice time only having those 2 days, though!

We havn't yet but, If I quit slacking off and start working on( and get ) ressies for July 4 we will not do the parks ( our passes are blacked out during that time and we can't handle the crowds ).We normally only spend a small amount of time at the parks anyway.

Last October we only used 2 days of our tickets (out of a 10-day park-hopper) to the parks, we were there 9 days. We probably wouldn't have used those two days if it wasn't for the Food and Wine Festival :goodvibes We spent more time doing things at the Fort than we ever have.

Why are your passes blacked out during that time?

Florida Resident's Pass maybe? DH is already making plans for when we move down there, we're getting the annual passes, no ifs ands or buts. He doesn't want to be restricted with a resident's pass, even though I'm sure he will avoid the parks during the peak times but he said he wants that freedom to go whenever he wants. I'm just the opposite, I would prefer the Resident's Pass.

They may only be season passes but not sure if they block these dates out or not.

We have Forida Resident seasonal passes. The times that are blacked out are the times we wouldn't go anyway so we got those instaed of annual.
Basically Christmas, Spring Break, and Summertime.
We are only going to try the 4th so we can meet you guys:thumbsup2 .
I've grown accustomed to thinking a 15-20 min wait is a long time.

The difference in price is minimal from a 3-4 day park hopper and a seasonal but, an annual is a much bigger jump.about $130.00 per pass

Yep, that's what I tell DH and since I do all the finances, he won't know the difference when I spring for that seasonal pass instead of the annual :thumbsup2

When you get used to using the faspasses on the big rides and riding the others while you wait, you can get spoiled. During our last trip ( In October while you were there ) we actually had fastpasses we didn't use. We like Buzz and the line was so short at times we would go on it and save the fastpass. When you get used to that, it's hard to get excited about going when its going to be packed.

Oh! Thanks for clearing that up! I plan to get an annual pass when I'm there in July. It would be a bummer if I couldn't use it!
