Im addicted to Disney ahhh...I need to see some more "Balcony View Pics" From the different resorts and rooms. Im trying to make my decision on where to stay my last 2 nights of my trip and have seen tons of pictures of people's rooms and suite's but not too many of the views. This would be so helpful!!! I checked in the "Room Pic Thread" but didnt see a lot of balcony pics. So lets see those photos. If you could to just post where you were, resort wise...

There is an older thread (which IMO should be revived) which has quite a few pages of pictures of the view from the resorts. The posts were to list which resort it is, and what kind of view (garden, lagoon, woods, standard, llama, etc.)

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1221401

The first post has an index of the resorts.

Yea im not having too much look with the search feature. I hate asking questions that someone may have already answered but im just not finding what im looking for using search function. Maybe we can have some people post some recent photos they have taken of their "views":thumbsup2

no one minds the questions. we understand about the search issues.

You can use google for searches by putting your search term in and then "site: disboards.com"

The view we had in Tahiti was a perfect view of the castle, the angle I took the pic at was just a little to the right, look at my first pic of concierge, you can tell the distance from the two landmarks, the castle and space mountain.

This is a Boardwalk view - the Deluxe club level rooms are guaranteed Boardwalk view (even though WDW won't tell you that)

Be careful! At WDW a "water view" room can be a view of the pool! :rotfl:

The monorail runs alongside the resort, as at the Polynesian, whereas it runs right thru the Contemporary!
From the Main Bldg. you take the stairs or elevator to the second floor and walk out the automatic doors onto the monorail deck, which is of course covered. This area is directly above the GF's porte cochere and main entrance.

MickeyMinnieMom--Where is your room at the GF? Those are awesome pics. We have a theme park view booked for June, and I am hoping for a great view like those in your pics. Thanks!!

Actually, that was our view from the 10th floor (I think) of the Contemporary a couple of years ago. Absolutely LOVED it!! We are hoping the new building there will be DVC and were buying if it is!

We spent every night out on the balcony after our son was asleep and watched Wishes - it was fantastic!

Its worth doing only A) if you do it once in a a life time or B) you take short trips... Paying that much for over what I normally take a 10night vacation there is WAY WAY WAY to much. I did it with OKW and got lucky, but I just cant see paying that much for a great GF or Contemporary view over that long. If you were just doing it for 2-4 nights, then do it, and take advantage of it if you stay in your room alot. I am not in the room much at all, so its not near as important to me

OKW, Building 62, ground floor 1BR. This is the site of the old "Commodore's House", which was basically the sales office for OKW. It was torn down and these new buldings were built, with elevators.

I saw another thread where they were talking about it in detail. I believe papers have been filed citing a DVC, but they haven't made any official announcement. I THINK the docs said completion of first phase in Spring 2009?

I think this depends. Everyone's situation is different, and what each person really values is different. We treated ourselves to a long stay at the Contemporary that time, and to us, it was worth every penny. We could have my son go to sleep early, and we had the balcony and Wishes to ourselves every night. I was also pregnant at the time, and WAY TOO TIRED to go out in the evenings. This was a perfect solution for us.

We then bought into DVC, because we plan to go to WDW often and this would be way more economical. This is why we would so love the DVC there. :)

Would they not go on sale till its complete? I ask because the wife and I have been thinking of buying into DVC, and being on a monorail resort would be great...

ditto :)
we go at least 7 days each time (at least 2x a year), & balcony view is one of the most important parts of our vacations.
perhaps it is b/c we don't spend so much time at the parks anymore, instead enjoying the resorts & lesser known "attractions"......but having coffee in hand while watching the BW "wake up", & watching illuminations from our BW view balcony definately matters to us (we have changed our vacation dates when we were unable to get "BW view" ~ it truly is that stunning:cloud9: )

My experience with this stuff is that they go on sale way before the point of completion. I used to work for a "vacation ownership" company, and the developer was selling those suckers as soon as he had the land!! LOL I am exaggerating a bit, but not much!!

I am sorry but I do not have a Balcony View Picture to hand.

My recommendation for something out of the Disney World but on Disney is Animal Kingdom Lodge. Go to Google.com and type in Animal Kingdom Lodge and take a virtual tour, its fantastic and lives up to expectation, but it is pricey!

I have tried posting the websitte address, but an error message appears on this posting

It would be MGM..er, DHS, would'nt it, since it's behind the Boardwalk? You can see the MK fireworks from the BW, but you need to be facing the other direction - beyond Epcot.

These are water-view photos from the Dolphin, taken when we stayed there a few weeks ago. We didn't have a balcony, though. (Tip: join the Starwood program if you want to stay at the Dolphin--you get a FREE upgrade to a better room when you check in! We paid for a standard view but got a water view). Edited to add: That's the Tower of Terror in the background of the first photo).

Great pics everyone!

Here's one from a room I had a couple of years ago at AKL. 4th floor, standard view on Zebra Trail but we had this wonderfully relaxing view of the hot tub (by the Uzima Savanna). We could hear the music from the pool area (must've been a nearby speaker b/c it was wonderful - I'm obsessed with that music!) and enjoyed coffee out on our balcony in the a.m. waking up with the music :cloud9: A view of the hot tub was actually a plus :wizard:

Thanks for the welcome! I am a valley girl - as in Shenandoah - Winchester area...it will be our first trip to Dis with our girls (7 and 12)...we are meeting up with our relatives from the UK. They are staying at CBR, but since I was able to get a pretty good rate from AAA for AKL I went for it. Given it will be August and we are doing 10 days, I wanted a room that we wouldn't mind spending time in. Plus, the girls will have bunks which will make everyone happier:goodvibes . Still having angst about this choice (expense wise, and because it doesn't have that beach/Florida feel that I associate with Dis) but after reading all of the thread posts I am excited, too. Have you been? I really want to be sure that our pool view is a decent one - not obscured by trees or a million miles from the lobby, etc. I would love to see any balcony pics with a pool view and get the room numbers.

hello - this question is for Johnsonet (is this proper board etiquette?! new to this and feeling very tech illiterate  ) - the pool view that you posted of the sixth floor room at AKL with the savannah in the background...is that a bunk room on a "regular" floor (not DVC or concierge)? It looks wonderful; just the sort I have in mind. :yay: Do you recall the room number? How easy is it to reach the pool from there? Appreciate any advice or opinions of your stay there (still trying to convince myself that I made the right choice when I switched from PFQ).

JMADgrad You are going to LOVE AKL. It is gorgeous and a VERY special place. When I have stayed on the 6th floor it housed just a few rooms, all of which were concierge rooms. I do not know the current set-up, since the conversion of the 5th floor rooms to AK Villas. Hopefully someone else can help with this...

I would recommend that, since you have a Pool View room booked, you request Zebra Trail, CLOSE TO LOBBY. Hopefully you will get a great view! Good luck and enjoy. Let me know if you have other questions - I have stayed at AKL at least 10 times but my most recent stay was May of 2007.

Thanks for the welcome and the info! :goodvibes Do you happen to know if the pool view rooms with bunks are all in one area? (zebra trail, for instance?) The one balcony view by Johnsonet seems to have bare branches in front of it, and if we will be there in August, I'm thinking that leaves may block the pool view and the sunlight (don't want to pay extra for a dark room with no pool view:sad2: )

So peaceful, so quiet. It's a tree-free beautiful view. The boats in the morning can be noisy, but the you also get the music from the parks in the morning...call it a luxury tax.

What a great thread idea!!

Here is the view from our room at Old Key West this past February. We were on the 3rd floor in Building 18. Our room number was 1830 which was a 1 bedroom Villa.

A view of the balcony itself from the bedroom door...

View straight out and to the right a bit....remember this was February so in the summer when all the leaves are on the trees you probably wouldn't be able to see the quiet pool that you can see in the picture.

Thanks for the welcome and the info! :goodvibes Do you happen to know if the pool view rooms with bunks are all in one area? (zebra trail, for instance?) The one balcony view by Johnsonet seems to have bare branches in front of it, and if we will be there in August, I'm thinking that leaves may block the pool view and the sunlight (don't want to pay extra for a dark room with no pool view:sad2: )

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f157/johnsonet/5-5-07012.jpg

That pic was taken last April. And to tell you the truth, I had a STANDARD room booked and just assumed that we got upgraded. Perhaps it qualifies as Standard for the very reason you mention... I would trust that Disney will honor your room request and that if you have a pool view reserved you will have a lovely view of the pool :thumbsup2

I would say you got upgraded. We had a "pool view" room on the ground floor and couldn't actually see the pool with all the foliage. So IMO, this was definately a pool view room!

WOW to all the pics. We are going to have our first "view" this time when we stay in a 1BR at AKV, Savannah. We've never paid more to have a special view so this time we're splurging. By the looks of these pictures, it may become a norm.

Hi Johnsonet! I would be happy with that view at a standard room rate, too! :) But with my luck, if I asked for a standard, I would probably be looking out over the trash containers or something:laughing: Anyway, if I want to be off the ground level but have a decent view of the pool, what floor would you suggest? My DDR thinks that she is going to be allowed to visit unchaperoned, but not unless I can still see and talk to her from our balcony - where I plan to park myself and keep an eagle eye on her (she can swim, it's the boys I am worried about!:rolleyes1) It would be nice to give her the illusion of independence/freedom - if her Dad can be convinced, that is!

Lobby is 3d floor. I would ask for that.
FYI, Pool view might give you a view of the hot tub over by Uzima...
As a veteran Disney resort guest i would recommend that you try not to worry yourself too much with your room view/specific room area. I do understand the tendency but you might be setting yourself up for needless disappointment. I would make one or two requests (3d floor, close to Lobby)and hope for the best. If you are unhappy with your room once you get inside it, go back to the front desk and ask to be moved before luggage deliver/unpacking.
You cannot depend upon a view of the pool clear and close enough to be able to see and talk to your DD. It is basically impossible. See her, yes. Talk to her, no. I certainly mean no disrespect at all and completely understand your feelings re. independence/keeping close watch ;)
good luck to you

Oh, ok - appreciate the comments regarding the pool...it did seem kind of large, but with photos you can never be sure. I will take your advice about the 3rd floor and hope for the best! :) (Gosh, I hope that me obsessing about the pool view doesn't sound spoiled! I really will be grateful that we are able to have any view at a deluxe :cloud9:) - so, many thanks for your input.

First, the patio of Room 6108:

Wildernes Lodge Standard View - Quiet Pool
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm141/gookus/IM000008.jpg

We had this view several times while staying at the WL...and it is of the quiet pool at the Villas.
I might add that it is the same rate as Courtyard view...only you get a view of the Villa Pool.
Perhaps you were upgraded and didn't realize this was not a standard view. At least not in my experience. We paid Courtyard view rates for that view. We were probably a little moe to the left of where this photo appears to have been taken. We love this side of the resort. Quiet, but with more to look at than just plain woods. Quieter than the main courtyard, which I found to be noisy, depending on location.

MiaSRN62
05-17-2008, 09:08 PM
You are right. The view from mordux is considered "courtyard". I've been upgraded to that view. Last year in fact, we even had a glimpse of Bay Lake off to the left. Not as impressive as the main courtyard view, but very nice nonetheless. Here are my shots :

This is the view from Room 4007 - which is a standard view AKL room. It is a handicap accessible room which we were given after asking for a king size bed.

JCB: Your accessible room with the king bed, did it have a roll in shower?
That view isn't too bad. I have some friends visiting and the only room type left was standard. Im sure there are some "less desirable" views too.

jcb
05-18-2008, 11:36 PM
Yes, there was a roll-in shower and the bathroom was fully accessible. There are so many places at AKL to sit and enjoy the views, that the room we had was just wonderful. We never heard anything from the loading area and it was convenient to walk up one flight of stairs from the lobby and be at our room.

Room 5000 at WL

These pics were taken at dawn and are a bit blurry (especially the castle) but you get the idea. I thought this was the one end of the lodge I didn't want to be on, because of the boat horns. But it was sooooo relaxing to sit out on the balcony and look at the dock instead of the pool and the boats really didn't bother us. Also, you could wishes thru the trees from the balcony. I would request this room again in a heartbeat.

The first is from the sitting room balcony, the second is from one of the bedroom windows.

Those Boardwalk views are really starting to get me to consider staying at the Boardwalk. This is not good due to my indecisive tendencies...

hahaha!!! :rotfl2: - I've just found this thread and kind of wish I hadn't !!:rotfl:

I had FINALLY decided on a split stay between poly and WL - then I go and see those Boardwalk pictures - NOOOOOOO!!!! ( I can't fit a third hotel in!!!):rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

For DisneyinDel:

Yacht Club Standard View Room 2150
The photos were taken first week of May 2009
We requested a view of the wedding gazebo
The best part this room was probably the second or third closest room to the lobby, the elevators, the stairs. It was quick and convenient to SAB, Fittings and Fairings and the restaurants.

Has anyone payed extra for a certain view, got to their room and was unhappy? And if so, were you able to ask and get a different room/view?
