:yay: Hi
This is my first post and i was looking a bit of advice!
Myself and my husband have been to wdw 5 times and recently have found out that i am pregnant. However we have a holiday booked for the last week in september.I am wondering if it is a good idea to proceed with the holiday or should i cancel?
i am currently about a month in which would mean i will be in and around the 6 month mark when i'm over.
Has anyone else been in a similar spot or have any advice?
Much Appreciated

Firstly can I join Natalie in saying Congratulations :cheer2:
I have never been pregnant whilst I was in WDW but I am sure that if you take it easy, rest and don't over do it you will be fine. I believe that if you are going to fly you should fly between 15 and 28 weeks pregnant, which it sounds like you will be. After 28 weeks I believe you need a medical certificate and you are not permitted to fly after 36weeks.
I would also check that your holiday insurance covers you should you go into premature labour abroad.

Congratulations :) I went to WDW in November 2007 and I was 24 weeks pregnant. Just take it easy and drink lots of water. Flight was ok too :) Will post other tips as I think of them :thumbsup2

Hi and congratulations :lovestruc
I found out I was pregnant before we went as well - I was 14 weeks when I went so didn't have a bump to contend with.
As everyone else say take is easy and drink A LOT - I managed to faint in Animal Kingdom though dehydration. I was ok but I think it was my bodies way of telling me to slow down.
There are a few rides you wont be able to go on but not many.
I would go and enjoy your holiday before the baby comes and think of all the cute baby gear you can buy ;)

as another poster mentioned, the most important thing is to make sure your travel health insurance covers you for all possible pregnancy related scenarios (make sure they don't consider it a pre-exisiting condition that isn't covered).
Health care in the US is extraordinarily expensive, so you wouldn't want to be caught without coverage...
as far as being at WDW pregnant - i was at WDW during my second pregnancy, and at Tokyo Disneyland during my first pregnancy....that one i was about 7.5 months pregnant....no problem....
i actually flew around the world during my first pregnancy - starting in Zurich, flying east to hong kong for a week, then taiwan for a month, back to hong kong for 2 weeks, on to japan for several weeks, then continuing east to the US, then back to europe....
the trip took about 3 months...from when i was 5 months pregnant to 8 months pregnant.....
no problem at all....but i refused to go through any of the security sensor thingies....had them hand pat me down instead....(the only place they gave me a hard time was in mumbai, india where we stopped for a few hours - they gave me a really hard time about it...but nowhere else)...

Really sorry Jockey, I know this is going to sound really sexist, but for some strange reason I have always assumed you were male (purely based on your user name!!!:lmao: ) - funny how you make totally the wrong assumptions and for really stupid reasons - or maybe thats just me!! :upsidedow - anyway back to the thread...
...congratulations on the pregnancy :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: - whether you decide to holiday or not - you are certainly in for an exciting time!!!

Are the security sensor things dangerous if your pregnant then ????

i don't think they're dangerous....everyone has to go through those all the time now, not just in airports (like in and out of stores, etc etc...although the store ones are specifically set for the theft tags)..
from everything i checked at the time, they said security sensors in airports aren't dangerous, but i was flying for 3 months and going in and out of airports quite a bit - so i figured why take any chances....
as i said, they were all very cooperative, except in india where they gave me a very hard time - but in the end, checked me by hand..
the truth is, i would have been willing to strip down had they wanted me to....i'd gotten it in my head that those sensors were dangerous and i was really unwilling to go through them.....
you know how it is when you get something in your head.....doesn't matter how crazy or unreasonable...

congrats- I went to disney when I was 5 months pregnant. I was quite worried about the flight and getting too tired. I wore flight socks to prevent DVT. no problems that I can recall.
the only thing that was a bit of a bummer is missing out on a lot of the rides. I think I was over cautious, but I thought it best to be on the safe side. I had lots of rest breaks and plenty of fluids.
A real problem was having to go to the ladies more often than usual, as baby was using by bladder as a trampoline. I also remember that she responded to firework displays and music at shows:so she kind of joined in the holiday!
Just take it easy, pace yourself and relax.:cloud9:

Congratulations! :cheer2:   :cheer2:
As this is your 6th visit I don't think you'll feel you're missing out on much as you've seen it all before. You will be able to enjoy a more leisurely pace. I think it was on one of the tip threads on the DIS board about all the little nooks and cranies where you can find quiet places to just sit and enjoy Disney. You could find all these and have a rest and enjoy all the wonder of disney that you know is not just about rides.
I have to agree about the toilets though - never mind getting the map of the parks for the rides - get those loos marked! :lmao:

Firstly congratulations on the pregnancy and i cant comment on being pregnant at disney but September is Disney's quietest month I believe so I wouldnt worry about the crowds, also I heard that the heat tends to die down the last weeks of September into October so hopefully you wont get extreme heat like in July/August.

Well Done!!!!!!!
I hope I can help in reassuring you, There is no proven harm to a unborn baby whilst flying in the early months-I looked into this as I used to be crew for an airline and I continued flying for the first 2ish months I think (give or take a week) I then continued to fly regularly (at least once a month) throughout my pregnancy (but as a passenger) until the very very last point that you c an fly without going to the doctors - apart from needing to go to the toilets regularly on the flight, you will not notice any difference!
I did go to hot places in my early pregnancy, cant remember if florida was one of them, but the heat/humidity didnt bother me at all. Unfortunatly the morning sickness did put a dampner on things but I got morning sickness V.V.V bad!! By 12 midday I was up feeling like my normal old self again.
Only my opinion but you should be fine...take it easy, stop when you need to, eat when you need to and enjoy the time with you and your partner.

Congratulations on your news:cheer2:
I was 6 months pregnant when I made my first trip to WDW & had a really fantastic time. It was in June 1998 and the temp's were a record high that month but despite that I coped fine with the heat and to be honest my DH found it harder to handle than I did.:)
Being our first trip, we packed a lot in but I did manage to fit in a nap most afternoon's so just listen to how you feel and you should be absolutely fine.
I was absolutely exhausted when I came home to the UK though and slept for a couple of days!

I flew to WDW at 32 weeks and back at 33 weeks. I also flew back at 4 weeks but didn't know it!! Flying is fine for the baby.
When I went at 32 weeks it was April and there were big crowds compared to September and I was fine. I just made sure i had a bottle of water at all times and sipped on it throughout the day.
Before going I did talk it through with my midwife who had no problems at all and she wrote my fit to fly letter for me that are required by airlines after 28 weeks.
If I was you I would just make sure you visit your doctor before you go so they can check your blood pressure etc and as long as you are fit go and have a great time! :)

CONGRATULATIONS
We were in the same boat had holiday booked then found I was pregnant !remember your fit to fly letter they may not ask for it but better to have it.
We flew glasgow-gatwick-miami then we were bused to Orlando arrived midnight exhausted but ok & happy to be in WDW Flew back OIA-Gatwick-Glasgow
I went to WDW when i was 24/25 wks pregnant in July 2006 it was very hot & very busy but we just took our time stopped for drinks & enjoyed it just as much. Obviously did not do the big rides but still did everything else. Go & enjoy it and just remember to drink lots & rest often & the weather in September will be perfect.

I was 5 months pregnant when we went last August and it was fine. Still lots of rides I was able to do, and all the shows etc. We did take things easier than we had previously and I did 'feel' the heat a bit more than the previous year, but it was a bit of a heatwave with no rain for nearly 10 days :scared: so it didn't cool down at all in the evenings.
I would say to take your 'fit to fly' letter, whether they ask for it or not. I had insurance through Virgin. At first they told me I would not be covered for anything pregnancy related, but when I read through the t&c's it said I was covered as it was second trimester, so read things through carefully. The flights themselves were great and you will be showing enough for the FA's to know you are pregnant, and be really nice and look after you - they were fab with me.
Most of all, I would say Congratulations :goodvibes and have a great trip! Any questions PM me.
Sara. :)
