We're booked for a 4 Day cruise using our DVC Points for a cruise on June 29th. My DH just asked me if we could change our room catagory (we booked a cat. 11 and now he wants a cat 9)? Can this be done? Do I have to pay the $95 booking fee again? I'm in shock that he wants to use the extra points, but I said I'd look into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated --sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot, I wasnt' sure if I should post this on the DCL Board or not?? :confused3

You'd have to pay the fee again if you make ANY changes.

AFAIK, you can do it as long as there is a cat 9 still availble. You will have to pay another $95 to make the change.

You can also check upon arrival at the Port to see if there are any cat 9's available for upgrade. You would pay with cash to do this there, instead of points, but many have reported that it was quite reasonable in price to do so. Again, this is based upon availability. Good luck!

Good luck! It's been a while since I looked at this but my recollection was that the price was the full cash difference between the two categories in question.

Oh no! They actually have offered some very nice deals to upgrade at far less than the "rack rate" differences in price. Many over on the DLC boards have raved about this in the past.

Thanks everyone for the info. I think I'll take CarolAnnC's advice & try to do an upgrade paying cash when I get to the port.

Oh, that was a shame! Actually one of our Mods upgraded when cruising on points for a very nice cash price difference! Quite a large savings than if the upgrade had been done originally on points.

I didn't realize you cruised on points Dean? Thought that you were not in favor of the value?

Before you decide what to do, go to www.disneycruise.com and see if there are any more rooms available in a cat 9. If they are in gty status, you will not be able to upgrade at the port and the ability to upgrade thru DVC means that you will take whatever cat 9 cabin is available - which may not be the cabin you want. Some folks have reported noisy cabins on deck 2 aft. You might also get a room on deck 1 with two little port holes instead of one big one.

If you decide to try for an upgrade at the port, be the first one there at 10 am, have all of your paperwork ready so you can get to the check in desk immediately. If there are any rooms available, they go fast.
