I'm so glad that you got him on board. I was thinking alot today about your situation and was going to suggest that you tell him that w/o following the doctor's recommended course of action, he is putting tyler in jeopardy of being kicked out of school. There are so many schools today that have a zero tolerance policy on violence, regardless of the age of the child. You both are very lucky that the school is working so well with you on Tylers issues and secondly that no parents of the children he has been violent with have gone to the school to ask for his removal. His dad should be reminded that, while this is a major problem for tyler, the other kids in his class don't have to be subjected to his behavior just because his dad doesn't want to try medication. AND moving him to another school (as he has suggested) just moves the problem. Additionally moving him w/o treatment would most likely do more damage to tyler than is necessary. In the end, with both parents on board and working together tyler stands a greater chance of handling his medical issues successfully.
SO KUDOS TO YOU!
I've been very fortunate that the other parents are understanding. I took some advice from the psychologist and spoke with a whole bunch of parents of kids in his class. Spoke to them individually over time, and explained what's going on and that if anything happens at school, it's something we're working on and that he's being treated for, so they know he's not just a bad kid that's allowed to act up. Fortunately, most of the parents knew something was going on, knew he has issues because of how they see him always standing with the teacher or sitting next to her or holding her hand, and from what their kids have said, etc. The teachers are doing a good job of telling teaching the other kids to be tolerant of others and to be realize that some kids need special tools and extra help with acting appropriately.

It's very cute how supportive the other kids have been. There are 3 or 4 kids who hug Tyler every morning when I drop him off. One day I overheard a child telling him, "OK Tyler, try hard not to lick things today". :thumbsup2

HollyTyler
04-03-2008, 09:47 PM
Speaking of that 80 year old boss, I forgot (or maybe got too busy) to mention that April Fool's Day was his 80th birthday and it just made me very sad to think of somebody still working at 80! Wouldn't most people rather be visiting grandkids? He has a daughter in the FBI and she's always living in wonderful distant locations (currently Hong Kong), he has another daughter in D.C., another in San Antonio, and a son in Boston. Plus all the grandkids. Wouldn't most people rather be traveling all over visiting everybody? Or relaxing? Or cruising all the time!!!!!

hi guys, I know I haven't been on here in a while, haven't even had time to lurk! just wanted to see how everyone was doing, if there was anything new and earthshattering.

So hi, 36 days and some hours, can't wait!!!!! especially cuz that means class will be done for the semester, thank goodness it's kicking my patootie, but I've managed not to seriously damage any of my patients yet! although today I had to transfer my patient to the ICU, she wasn't doing too well......:(

It's a match made in heaven. About 50 people are going from bar to bar on a certain night but I'm not really sure when. I know after the shows some night.

OK I seem to be a bit slow on the uptake...have you all chatted SO MUCH that the thread must be divided now and again as not to disrupt the matrix? :) Maybe I know why I haven't been reading...I feel the stress already...I have so much to do before we leave.

I was going to start prepping for the garden this weekend but it is raining today, tomorrow, Saturday, and beyond...the ground will never be dry. Perhaps I will start packing this weekend. I'm hoping to have all my clothes down to FL on 4/19. Dropping them at a friend's house so I have less to fly (and get lost in flight) in May.

Actually I was thinking I might just send a box of clothes to the ship. I bought a bunch of stuff last fall in prep for the cruise. That and I found of stash of label-still-on summer clothes that got lost in a black hole. I love shopping from my own closets. Haven't found any new shoes thought :( but I did buy new sandals last fall and packed them away so they are shiny for the cruise.

Whew!

Time to join in for myself and quit relying on DH to keep me in the loop :goodvibes
Counting down the days until we leave. Mixed emotions right now - want vacation to hurry up and come, but still have lots to do to get ready. Had a ton of fun dressing up as pirates on our first cruise, so this time making matching tropical print dresses for DD's & I, with matching shirt for DH. There's not enough opportunities to play dress up, so taking full advantage of it ;)

Well, I tried really hard in part nine to keep up. So sorry I got behind, hoping everyone is doing well .

I'm sorry that a lot of us are dealing with so many hardships. Hugs and prayers to all in need.Tammy and John and Sophia...my thoughts are with you...and everyone else that needs:hug:

I have had a rough week. My son and his GF and my GD have decided they can't live together. My son's girlfriend is just too homesick, and wants to come home to her family, and her and my son have not been getting along. So they are flying home tomorrow night, but my son is staying in Alberta. I'm ecstatic at getting to see my GD this weekend (haven't seen her since Nov) but so sad that this seems to be another family that will not be united. My son loves both his GF and his daughter, I hope we all find a way to stay connected.

Then I got up this morning (my day off) and had a little time to read the paper, a luxury, and happened to read the obits. My birth father (haven't seen him in over 20 yrs) has passed away :sad1: I always wondered if I would know when he was gone. If I hadn't read the paper then I would not have known. I called one of my brother's, and he only knew because his wife had read the obits too. My birth father ( my mother divorced and remarried long ago) was an alcoholic . I was 11 yrs old when he left, so remember him and although I tried to keep in touch until my early 20's, lost touch when he just never seemed to be interested in me or my family (booze was just so much more interesting :sad1: )So here I am today, mourning my father, but really, mourning what could have been...I may have lost out on having him as a father, but he lost out on knowing me and my children, his grandchildren. How sad :sad1: I feel so sad for him, for myself and for my children.

Sorry for such a bleak post .

Looking forward to this vacation more than ever!

How can you hate TV...For those of us that don't have a life outside of dis...it's awesome.
I mean, where can you find out all about the pregnant man!?!

Jon thinks I'm funny because I fall asleep every time. I do like Paradise Hotel. I do feel left out at the water cooler (my fridge).

Kathe

Oh Kathe,

I'm so sorry. Hard on both ends. Perhaps your son and GF can figure it out when they are apart. Sometimes apart can bring light to the situtation.

Time for another LOONG post with regards to door magnets.

Just got home tonight and this was the first opportunity I've had to work on the requests I recieved in PM. No I hadn't forgotten. So here they are (mainly requests for the new Cruise Documents magnet):

First up a blank one that was requested by a few people:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3176/2386156109_e512b94547.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3176/2386156109_5fa364c714_o.jpg

Now another generic one that was based on a suggestion from Mishoe01:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2386988130_5de8a8d450.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2386988130_8ddf3f524b_o.jpg

Speaking of Mishoe01, here is the one she asked for:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2009/2386157401_1cc00fe71c.jpg
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2009/2386157401_a31ec36d1c_o.jpg

I wasn't 100% sure which way you wanted it Mishoe01, so I also did this one up so you could choose:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/2386987704_5d9a44a3d9.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/2386987704_3911591d4b_o.jpg

Here are the ones TxTwins2000 requested:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3150/2386987264_83bc60ff47.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3150/2386987264_6c03ed8242_o.jpg

TxTwins2000 #2:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2029/2386156469_4dd4724cb8_o.jpg

Vtiffany asked for a special one:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2386157837_580fa3f11c.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2386157837_f3b1de545b_o.jpg

but vtiffany also was pretty open so I created this one too:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2389/2386158065_c7eacf5ab0_o.jpg

And last but not least Gydell asked for one:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3191/2386987486_04b91b13c9_o.jpg

Time for another LOONG post with regards to door magnets.

Just got home tonight and this was the first opportunity I've had to work on the requests I recieved in PM. No I hadn't forgotten. So here they are (mainly requests for the new Cruise Documents magnet):

First up a blank one that was requested by a few people:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3176/2386156109_e512b94547.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3176/2386156109_5fa364c714_o.jpg

Now another generic one that was based on a suggestion from Mishoe01:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2386988130_5de8a8d450.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2386988130_8ddf3f524b_o.jpg

Speaking of Mishoe01, here is the one she asked for:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2009/2386157401_1cc00fe71c.jpg
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2009/2386157401_a31ec36d1c_o.jpg

I wasn't 100% sure which way you wanted it Mishoe01, so I also did this one up so you could choose:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/2386987704_5d9a44a3d9.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/2386987704_3911591d4b_o.jpg

Here are the ones TxTwins2000 requested:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3150/2386987264_83bc60ff47.jpg

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2029/2386156469_4dd4724cb8_o.jpg

Vtiffany asked for a special one:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2386157837_580fa3f11c.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2386157837_f3b1de545b_o.jpg

but vtiffany also was pretty open so I created this one too:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2389/2386158065_c7eacf5ab0_o.jpg

And last but not least Gydell asked for one:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3191/2386987486_3164ebb347.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3191/2386987486_04b91b13c9_o.jpg

Kathe
