Hi,

I am currently a senior, and I will be graduating in August. I applied for 3 PIs, but I never heard back. My guess would be because my graduation date falls after the PIs start. So, I interviewed for the CP last week, because the fall program starts after I get my degree. I am still interested in doing the PI for January 2009. My question is, would I still be eligible for the 2009 PI, even though I would no longer be a student at that point? I think I remember reading somewhere on here that since I would be a CP at the time of application that I would still be considered a student, but I can't seem to find that information anymore. I e-mailed Disney Interns, but they sent me back a generic response directly from the FAQ on their website, saying that if I apply while still a student I'm eligible, but that doesn't really answer my question. Has anyone graduated, done the CP, and then done a PI? Thank you so much for your help.

Jean

Hi, Jean! Although I haven't done this, there has been some great discussion about doing a CP then a PI. As far as I know, you can do a Fall or Fall Advantage and still be eligible for a PI that next spring. I found the Fall 2008 PIs thread (http://http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1623179&page=29), and I'm sure you will find a definite answer.

Hope this helps. :wave2:

sandicinderelli, I appreciate your help in answering my question. However, in that thread discussion, they didn't specifically say if they were still considered a student during the transition from CP to PI, or if they had already received their degree at that point. Basically, I know that I am eligible for the CP immediately following graduation, but what about going from CP to PI? Do they still consider you a student because you are coming off of the CP, or do they say that you are technically no longer a student so you aren't eligible to participate?

When I interviewed for a PI last week, my interview team told me that you can apply a CP then apply for a PI after that, as long as both do not last more than a year. They also confirmed that you can do a PI after another PI. Sorry if this confuses you.

I think they still consider you a student when you transfer from CP to PI, but I'm not certain.

I noticed that you e-mailed the Disney Intern department. Did you send your e-mail to questions@disneyinterns.com? I usually get an answer within a day or two.

Yeah, I e-mailed questions@disneyinterns. The answer they gave me was basically a copy and paste from the FAQ on their website regarding partcipation after graduation. I would be a CP immediately following graduation, rather than a PI. While I am a CP, I would like to apply for the PI for the following January (2009). I was just curious as to whether I would be eligble, since I would have graduated 6 months prior.

I actually JUST talked to my recruiter about this today! :) I'm planning on graduating next spring, doing a Fall CP, then applying for a January PI after that; he told me if I'm a CP, I can apply for a PI to follow it immediately even though I've graduated and am not taking classes.

That's good news! Even though I'm hoping to skip the PI and go straight to FT - this is really good information and I'm glad to hear it. Thanks for posting!!

Why would you want to go from a CP to full time and not try for a PI?

There are no PIs in my area of interest... and I think of PIs as a way to get more professional experience, but since I graduated in 06, I've already got some of that experience. It's not that I wouldn't take a PI, I just want to skip it (if possible).

I don't understand that. Cp's last six months, right? And PI's last six months. so that would be a year. How can you do both and it not last a year?
I'm facing the same problem..so I'm trying to get a better understanding.
I would love to do a spring advantage (and possibly extend into the fall..but at least spring adv.) and then do a PI. Could I do that?
*And...
if I do both which should I apply for first? You have to be a student to apply for both. I can't apply for a CP until August...should I go ahead and apply for PI's and apply for a CP in August? Or should I wait and apply for CP first?
