Julie,

The pictures are great!! Thank you for planning a wonderful day!!! Great food, Great company, Great friends!

Julie is right. Those of you that couldn't make it were missed. Beside the jingle bells ringing, your ears must have been ringing because we reminiced about our wonderful cruise and the fantastic people we met.

We will definiately do a spring mini-meet in NYC so hopefully those that couldn't make it this time will be able to join us.

Tom & I have decided to do the 7/18 Eastern with a stop in Tortola. Going to try to book tomorrow.

Don't worry Helen, we'll be back in time to visit with you in NYC before/after your cruise.

Anyone else in for 7/18???????

Great pictures Julie. So sorry we could not be there, looks like you guys had a great time. Maybe next time.

Gaspare had been released from hospital that Thursday (12/06). Now we start with appts., coumidin center, etc. He is feeling better everyday. It will take about 2-3 months to get back to the way he was before surgery and no driving for about 4 weeks.

We had actually put in a request for an exchange through DVC (Cancun) with my brother and his family (also dvc members) this September - we had discussed this before our med. cruise. It happens to be the same exact week (July 18-25th) and keeping my fingers crossed that my dd would not have to attend any summer school/regents class.

If this does not come through by the begininng of this coming summer AND all is settled financially/approvals (disability, etc.), we will defiitely be in. I am sure by 09 all better be "okay" by then but won't committ to Cancun or cruise til then. I can always send someone else in my place to the exchange (I think).

Have fun planning guys - enjoy reading all about it.

I am going to cut down time here as I have two other active threads for cruises now as well as UK/Dis and I just cant spend sooooo much time on the Diss.

I am on the 2008 August repo, and the August 15th Eastern Threads and will pop in on the main board, and here now and again.

Hi Everyone,

I loved the pictures from the Dec. 8 get together, especially the one by the tree. Thanks for posting them.

We are considering doing the July 18,2009 cruise. I haven't booked yet but am so glad some of you will be on it!

Baby Dylan was operated on this past Monday. Everything went great and he looks amazing! I will post pictures as soon as his stitches are out and he has healed some.

My mom is doing ok. Some days are very difficult, especially this time of year.

Hello fellow Romancing the Mouse cruisers.
Where has all the time gone? I have been so busy since our cruise, I am sorry to say I haven't been on the DIS till this week! Lynn and I wanted to say "Thank You!" for making us both feel so welcome here and on that wonderful cruise! As you may remember, it was our "Do Over" cruise having lost one of our passports enroute to the inaugeral Med cruise in May. We both agree that while we missed sailing with our friends in May, we made so many new friends from the DIS, and had such a great time meeting you all, it was well worth the wait to go in July! We are booked on the eastbound repo in August, so I suspect we will be seeing many of you again. We just returned from a week at WDW accompanied by the couple who were traveling with us to the MED in May. We were so surprised to bump into another couple in the Animal Kigdom who had been our tablemates on the 2005 westbound repo and were also supposed to join our table on the MED cruise in May! On top of that, while we were waiting for a bus at our resort, I saw someone with a Romancing the Mouse logo shirt! We introduced ourselves and told her about our "Do Over" story. She exclaimed "Oh that was you!" She had read about it here on DIS. (It's a small world after all) We are very excited as we have been selected to host one of the DCL home parties on January 26th, so we are planning to let everyone know about the DIS and what a great place this is to make new friends and learn new things. Hope the new year finds you all well and cruising!

And that was us at the bus stop---it is a small world for sure!!

I loved your New York pictures.

We had wonderful weather in Florida and all was good until Garry had a bad fall. He would not go to the ER until we came home and has a fractured rib and during the x-ray the discovered an abdominal aneurysm. After a CT scan there were two, the largest one 4cm and they operate at 5cm. We have an appointment in Pittsburgh January 8 with a vascular surgeon for a second opinion. He is in a lot of pain, mostly muscle spasams. Please keep him in your prayers.

Here are some pictures to keep us all happy!

Great picture of the castle - is this the first time it has been lit up/decorated this way? I don't remember seeing it like this before and this Christmas I have noticed tons of pictures of it. (Maybe it's just my memory)

One day at a time here. Gaspare is feeling better everyday. Will be even better when he can drive again, is off coumidin and insulin shots.

Best of Luck to you daughter, JoAnn, on a safe trip.

We're just hanging out on NYE and watching the ball drop in Times Square. We get a better view of it on TV than if we went into NYC!

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!

I'm sorry I haven't been on line, it's been crazy around here.

We told the kids about the Feb. cruise and they are quite excited. It's 8 degrees outside so going to FL sounds even better right now.

There are too many pages to go back and read, I've just scanned through so my apologies if I've missed anything.

JoAnn, I'm sure your daughter is excited but how are you holding up with her going so far away?

Harole Ann, I'm sorry to hear about Garry, You must have been so scared. Is he doing any better? Did you go to your daughter's after Christmas?

MaryAnn, We'd love to go on the cruise in 2009 but right now we have a Royal Caribbean Cruise booked for April '09, I don't think we'll be able to do both.

Anna, It sounds like Gaspare is on the mend, I do hope he continues to improve. You've had a difficult year I pray next year is better.

Helen, Tunisia sounds great. I'd love to go on vacation with my Mom. WE go out to the TAJ (formerly the Ritz Carleton) hotel for Tea about 4 times per year and love it so having an extended amount of time with her would be wonderful.

It sounds like those who got together in December had a great time. We were away for our anniversary that weekend and had a relaxing time.

Well, I have to run the house hasn't been cleaned since November and it's already 12:30 and I haven't even started.:laundy: :laundy: :laundy:

Again, Happy New Year

Wow, what wonderful summary!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo: Nice to hear from you!

I am not sad about Tara leaving, I know she is having a great experience. When she signed on for the Miami Ad school program, I knew it was a two-year commitment. She was in Florida for 15 months (b/c she took off the summer session for our Med cruise) and now she's in Europe for possibly 6 months. I got really sad at Thxgiving, so now we're visiting her in Hamburg for Easter week. Starting in July, she'll hopefully be in NYC:wizard: , then possibly one more quarter away, and then employment???????:confused3 I rather she did this then say, backpack thru Europe?.............

Thx again for your notes to all, I would like to agreed with everything that Sandra said!!!:dance3:

Helen---hope you have a wonderful vacation and I know you are ready for one!

Sandra, I can only imagine how excited your house must have been when your children found out about the cruise, but I bet Gerry was as excited as they were!

JoAnn, I know you are anxious to hear from Germany!:grouphug:

Maryann, you are so right, now we have to say, "last year about our wonderful cruise!;)

Garry is still hurting and is most dissatisfied that he does not feel as good as he wants too. Right now I worry more about him being depressed and this is such an ugly time of year because you can't really get outside to walk around.

We did go to our daughter's after Christmas and it was wonderful because one of their gifts was four days at Disney before the cruise. I think they were as excited as Sandra & Gerry's children. They have started to plan already!:dance3:

Here's wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!

I will let you know how things turn out after our trip to the doctor in Pittsburgh on Tuesday!

Hi, we are excited about the cruise. We're flying on 2/14 THursday in case of bad weather we want to be sure we'll make it so we'll be in Orlando on Friday before the cruise.
I'm not sure if we'll get to WDW. I'd like to but it is expensive for just one day. We had Gerry's cousins stay with us for Gerry's grandmother's funeral and they live near Orlando so we are planning on getting together with them at some point. I had not met them but we had a great time while they stayed with us.

The disboards group for our cruise is not active at all which is kind of disappointing especially after being part of this group. I'm trying to get in touch with someone for Lilly to connect with prior to the cruise but so far no success.

Right now I'm getting ready for a colonoscopy, yuck! My dad had colon cancer so it's important for me to go but I have trouble with anesthesia so it has to be done in the hospital with general anesthesia. They are bad enough without adding 3 days of low fiber diet and then clear liquids and I won't even go into the last preparation. It's not until Tuesday and I'm miserable already.

Having the cruise to look forward to and make plans for is keeping my mind off things for now. I'll be glad when Wednesday comes.

Lilly's basketball team is going to the Boston Celtics game on Wednesday and will be playing a scrimmage game on the court during the half time. Then they will get a DVD of the game and the scrimmage. They are so excited, it's a great opportunity. I'll let you know how it goes. Gerry is the coach so he's going too.

It went well, It took a long time for me to come out of the anesthesia but we're used to that. I'm glad it's over. We'll get the biopsy results in 2 weeks but the Dr. said she wasn't concerned.

The preparation is always the worst but I don't have to go back for 5 years:banana:

We are going through the Navigators from the Med cruise and our last family cruise. It's getting closer, we leave in 35 days. I don't know how we waited for 15 months for the Med Cruise. The dis board group for this cruise is not very active. At least for the Med cruise we had each other to talk about it with.

JoAnn, I read Tara's blog, she is quite funny and sounds like she's settling in pretty well.

Highlights of our trip to WDW.................we didn't get park hoppers this time (to save a little money and running around) and honestly, we enjoyed the parks more! Maybe just going to one place and not running around too much makes each visit more enjoyable? Loved AK this time, did the Safari; Kali River Rapids (we got soaked) and Lion King show. Some of us also did EE, which most of them enjoyed!:confused3 Also, Dinosaur was fun.

In MK, we went on POC, HM (which apparently was refurbished and better than ever!), Small World, Buzz, BTRR. We went at night and it was foggy, it was fun!

Finally, we went to EPCOT and visited countries:banana: (has anyone noticed the winetasting, etc. back there?);) Also, shopped and went on a few rides (we didn't have a lot of time)

Overall, WL was fantastic and relaxing. Also, a good location for MK. We had a car which made the other parks accessible. We also had to go to WWS for the race check-in and EXPO, which was fun.

We ate at Mexico, WL (all the restaurants there) & the new Tusker House (I think that's what it's called in AK.) Everything was wonderful as always.

:lovestruc Overall, a fun trip, it was so nice to be back!:cloud9:

Hi, We are going to have one free day in Orlando before our cruise. Does anyone have recommendations as to whether or not it is worth it to go to WDW for just a day? If yes, which park do you recommend?

We are staying near the airport but they have a shuttle to the parks. Also what is the cheapest ticket available for one day?

The last time we went was in 2001 and the kids didn't really like WDW. They don't do rides. All they wanted to do was see shows and characters. That's why we decided to try cruising. Now we are hooked on cruising but with 1 day in Orlando I was wondering about trying it one more time.

Any opinions or ideas would be appreciated.

SandraOkay, well, my advice would be to go to Universal Studios for the day, especially, if you haven't tried that.........Islands of Adventure is cool and Universal Studios is really fun (they're two separate parks but I think you can do both in one LONG day) I would do just Universal if you just want to do one. Also, you'd be closer to these parks from the airport. Let us know what you decide!

Hi Sandra! You must be so excited to have a cruise coming up so soon!

I would like to suggest Disney's Animal Kingdom for a one day experience with kids who aren't crazy about rides . . . the safari ride is really cool, like being in Africa, and the Lion King Show and Finding Nemo show are wonderful. There is also just a great atmosphere for wandering around and seeing the different lands. It's a smaller park too, so you could do everything you wanted in one, shortish, day.

Unfortunately I think the one day pass is about $71 for each person, so not cheap, but Universal would be similar. I like Universal, but think that if you aren't into rides that much AK might be a better one day choice.

Sandra I agree with Julie about AK, especially when it isn't too hot out. We actually had a really nice one day there last week. One more point for Universal (the Studios side) doesn't have too many roller coasters, as most of the rides are less scary, movie-themed, creative rides. I'm really afraid of roller coasters, so believe me, I know where to go to have fun and avoid them! Either park will be great. Islands of Adventure has more roller coasters, but also has many cool creatively themed rides! Let us know what you decide!!

Harole Ann- I hope Garry is feeling better.

Sandra- I'm glad your procedure is over. I'm having one Feb. 27. Have fun on your cruise.

Helen- Enjoy your trip to Tunisia.

I apologize if I missed anyone's news.

We're going to Houston President's weekend to visit my son and daughter-in-law. I'm really looking forward to it.

Ditto! Welcome back! I guess we can look forward to visiting our kids around the states when they finally get settled! Let us know how it goes!!

hahahaha..........if it makes you happy, go for it!!! My girls really did like it, esp. the 20YO........we also saw JB and LK for the second time........we really liked JB, have you seen that one?

Yes, those are both a lot of fun . . . you saw quite a few shows in a row!!!!

We saw "Little Mermaid" on Friday night and I was really disappointed . . . such good music and a great story and I thought Disney really wasted the opportunity. It just didn't work somehow, and the sets and costumes were downright bizarre. Even my 10 year old was less than thrilled.:sad2:

That's what I wanted to do for my Bday.......I probably saved $$ by not shopping!:thumbsup2 Now I think I've had enough NYC for awhile!

Wow, we could have crossed paths! I did like LM but I was bothered by the lead........I felt everyone was well cast, but the lead needed more personality........sets were good........really liked MP but I don't think either:confused3 of them have the staying power of LK............

Also, tried "Patsy's Italian Restaurant".......it was pretty good, great service!

Hi All!

Sandra, I agree with Julie and JoAnn. AK is great in Feb. and there is plenty to do without going on any rides. It is expensive for one day but it is so worth it. It is unlike any other park.

Best wishes to your family, Wendy. We think of you often.

I also hear Mermaid was not up to Disney's usual. I'm dying to see Mary Poppins (it was my favorite Disney movie as a kid), but I draw the line at paying over $125 per ticket!!!! I'll wait and watch for a good Sat. night deal.

Been busy planning DD's baby shower this April. She'll be 5 months along next week. Tom had better hold my charge cards when we go to WDW in Feb. Her nursery is Winnie the Pooh. They should find out if it is a boy or girl in 2 weeks. Disney is going to be rubbing their hands together by the time we fly home. Cha ching!!!!:scared:

You and Tom are YOUNG future GPs, BTW....that's so sweet!:cloud9:

Thanks. I felt like a dinosaur yesterday in Babies R Us. They had about 100 different kinds of baby bottles, and they don't make plug in baby food dish warmers anymore (I guess the microwave revolutionized heating bottles and food for the better!) After about $600 :scared1: on the Winnie the Pooh crib set, lamp, wall art, etc. and little incidentals like grandma/grandpa loves you bibs, I've decided I'm not buying another thing until I get into the World of Disney store!!!
:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

You mean you didn't buy the motorized swing that connects to your IPod:confused3 What kind of Grandmother are you going to be?;)

We are going to be grandparents in March, the shower is Feb 9. I'm in the process of making a baby quilt. It will be done by then.

We went to Babies R Us on Saturday and Gerry was completely overwhelmed. He loved the motorized swing. I talked him out of it thankfully. The gift registry is 14 pages long but some of it was exclusive to online orders. We didn't know that and spent quite a bit of time looking around. We have already bought her a Red Sox outfit so she'll be all set for opening day. That is most important to Gerry. I'm sure he'll find something else for her on the ship.

My mom always says that it's a miracle the human race has made it this far without all the things available now. We didn't have all this "stuff" when her kids were little and we survived.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Have fun shopping at the World Of Disney Store!!

Another thing I learned from my Mom is not to go too crazy over the first Grandchild because there will be more, especially since we have 4 kids. Whatever you do for the first you have to do for the next, no matter how many come along later. She learned this the hard way. So we are trying to be careful. But it sure is difficult when there is so much out there and everything is so adorable.

Jeff and Lisa, oldest son and wife, just bought a house and once they move in we're pretty sure they are going to start a family so it might not be too long before the 2nd grandchild is here.

Congratulations to all the grandparents- to -be!
I went to Babies R us when my nephew was born in September and couldn't believe the things they now have. My sister-in- law even has a baby wipe warmer.

Marianne- I'd have a hard time controlling myself in the World of disney store. I'd want to buy everything! Have fun shopping!

Sandra- love your mom's quote.

Good luck planning the baby showers.

Sandra,
