I am trying to pick which on-site resort to book for our 2003 March trip. I love the themeing of Disney's Coronado Springs, Amimal Kingdon Lodge, and Wilderness Lodge. The more modern themeing of the Contemporary and Swan and Dolphin do not appeal much to this country girl. Having said all that --- which on-site Universal hotel will I feel most comfortable in. When I see room pictures of HRH the rooms seem too "vogue" for me. I want something I feel at home in. A room full of creme fuffy pillows would not work in my home with kids, dogs, cats etc. So where do I stay and feel comfortable.

Both hotels are decorated in very modern, contemporary themes, the HRH in a musical, rocky decor, and the PB to reflect an Italian villa. I assume you like more rustic decor and neither will fill that for you, I think, though the HRH is a little less "vogue" than the PB.

Go for Hard Rock - (stay tuned for feedback on Royal Pacific)
The front desk staff at HRH are comparable to the old cold-war Russian border guards, but after that, everyone is mellow & laid back. All the fancy decor you've seen is meant to be off-set by meandering tourists in bathrobes & flip-flops. The attitude at this point of your stay is "do whatever is comfy!".

"old cold-war Russian border guards"
They aren't THAT bad!!! Many of them are extremely friendly and helpful!
