View Full Version : Have you ever returned home with unused credits?

I just wondered how often this happens.
We are thinking that we are going to end up not using some and wasting money.
If this has happened to you, which type of credits did you have left over (i.e. TS, CS, or snack).
Thanks!

We sometimes have a few snack credits left on the last day - but never meal credits. We use the snack credits in the food court on snacks to take home.

One more thought. We have all our ADR's made for TS credits before we go - so I know exactly how we will use those. We also have plans for each CS credit (we're flexible with this, but it helps to have a rough idea). Knowing how we plan to use every credit is helpful in planning when we need to pay out of pocket (for example, the cheaper meals like breakfast - even for CS). Hope that makes sense - I feel like my brain shut off a few hours ago :rotfl: .

left 4 ts behind....could not break away from the fun for dinner on our last night. still was well worth the money even with the unused credits.

Wow, 4 table service credits??? That seems like a loss of quite a bit of money...

I am sure it was meant for the family- and not 4TS for one person.
We left 1CS each on our last trip.
We eat well- and thoroughly enjoy our Disney Dining Experiences- they are a highlight of our trips. And, as a previous poster said- we plan our TS meals well ahead of time.
But I do not account for every last penny- if I miss a snack or prefer to have one more TS out of pocket instead of using the last CS- that's OK with us.
If we have enjoyed our time, then we have "gotten our money's worth." :)

We have had snack credits left both times with the dining plan (8/2006 and 3/2008). This last time it was 10 credits. I don't think of it as wasted money since we received more food value than I paid (yes I tracked the value of each CS, TS, and snack).

We left 11 counter service behind last year. I now know what I can do with them.

In Dec we left 5Ts & 7 CS. Used all SC to bring home stuff. We've participated in free dining the past two years, those #'s have all been in the double digits expect for snacks. Now, I have now idea why we have settled on the DxDDP for June:confused3 Oh yeah, DH is with us:rotfl: Eats like a horse, skinny as a rail. Yes, I am just jealous:lmao:

I've always used all my TS and CS credits, but we did leave 2 snack credits behind because we forgot to use them on our way out of MK on our last day.

I just don't understand how people could NOT use all their DDP credits, maybe with DDxDP but, with the regular, I can't imagine. That is only 2 meals of the day, and our family eats 3 meals a day....we paid oop for breakfast each day, and also oop for some snacks too...and yet we were still hungry at times. Add to that the fact that the plan only covers each night you stay, so if you arrive early on arrival day, and depart late on departure day, then you will be paying even more oop for meals. I was considering going for the deluxe this year just because I felt like we didn't have enough on the regular last year.

I was thinking the same thing. But I guess there is a chance you are just having to much fun to stop and eat. Or you really want something to eat that isn't covered so you pay oop for it and then aren't hungry enough to use that days meal credit :confused3
Explain the part where the plan only covers each night you stay. We arrive Oct 8 and leave Oct 14. So 7 days 6 nights. I had assumed we would get 7 days worth of meals but are we really only getting 6 days of meals?

We always have leftover cs credits, we don't care for a lot of the cs, plus we tend to share meals at cs (DH and I share, the kids share). We usually end up with 3-4 extra ts meals that we pay oop, and that gets in the way of using the cs credits too.
Last year, we had one extra ts credit, someone didn't charge us for DS3's meal, but we couldn't figure out where it was.

You get 1 ts, 1 cs, and 1 snack credit for each night of your reservation. For 6 nights/7 days, you will have 6 sets of credits per person.

Thanks for the info. That kind of stinks. We arrive early on the 8th and leave late on the 14th and I figured it was covering every day. We will be spending 1 day at Sea World but I was planning on using that extra TS meal to do a meal at Cinderella's Castle.

We have left dining credits behind -- just CS and snacks. Mainly because we have 3 young children. They will often share a CS meal. I guess I could have ordered three and thrown most of it away, but that seems wasteful. We have only had the dining plan during "Free Dining" offers. I really didn't feel bad about not using all the credits because I didn't pay for them.
If we were to pay for the dining plan I would plan a little better to make sure I really received my money's worth and not waste credits.

We had a couple of snack credits left over that we used for mickey rice crispie treats to take home with us - but we kind of planned it that way. No problem using the others.

I run into this problem every vacation too. We arrive early on the first day and leave late on the last day. I figure it's cheapest to book a late breakfast on the last day. Least OOP expense and it keeps you full for a long time. Boma is our favorite and I believe cheaper than Chef Mickey's anyways.
Substantial snacks like breadsticks at Pizzafari, Onion Rings at Flame Tree BBQ and Figaro fries can sub for a lunch for me (not DH and DS of course). That frees up a couple of extra counter service meals. Plus it's more fun on vacation to eat onion rings and fries for lunch. ;)

I have let a couple of CS go.
You can run into a problem if you have something planned outside of disney. Things like seaworld/universal can increase the liklihood of a unused credit. Also, for longer vacations, my DH may not want to use credits in the beginning only to have them left at the end (and we are in a scramble to use them).

We always use up our credits. Usually though, we have a lot of snack credits left at the end that we use to buy cookies, toffee, bagged nut mix, peanut brittle, chocolates, suckers, etc that we can take back as little gifts to the kid's friends & teachers. It's really fun passing out the treats when we get home!!

Last June my hubby and I had 6 counter service meals between us left. (don't ask me how...we were just two adults having waay to much fun..lol)
Anyhow, on our last night at SSR, we decided we were going to spend them and purchase meals for other families. Now, before any of you go wadding your knickers...(as I have already relayed this story before)...there was a manager standing right there and even talked to us while we were looking for someone. We merely waited for a family that was getting their food and asked if they were on any dining plan...when they replied no...we bought them dinner. It was our credits and we used them as we wished. We did this for a family of 4 and then one more couple before we left. These folks were overjoyed to say the least. Spreading the magic, that's what its all about.
remember...pay it forward...everyday if possible...:flower3:

I had extra snack credits. I stood in line for an ice cream for my DD and bought the ice creams of the people around me. I still ended up with extra snack credits. Now that the use has been restricted I will use mine on things like water instead of "saving" them for something "better".

I've left with a few snack credits left....and some child TS credits.
A few nights we put DD in the kids club....so she dosen't use her credit.
This is fine for us though.....the convenience is stilll worth it to us.
Of course last yr it was much better.
My next trip I am doing a split of DDP and DXDDP. I know I won't use all the snack credits....or the reusable mug. But I wanted to try all the signature restaurants....so it will still save me some money.
