I spoke to the manager at the bowling alley twice today. That really stinks!

I am finished with the closet Good for you!

My parents and DB took Olivia and my nephew fishing today. Olivia caught about 15 fish I was told. She had a blast mom said, she would clap every time she or Ryan caught a fish. Mom took photos but her camera is the film kind. So hopefully I can get Jeff to scan the pic when we get it and I can show you all.
:woohoo: Congrats to Olivia. I'm sure she had a blast. Hope she's feeling better!

so along with getting my taxes filed

Thanks for the Anniversary Wishes....

Bill has decided to take me out to breakfast...then we will skip lunch and do dinner at Chez Collette. I always enjoys seeing the staff there...they remember that we had our reception there.......so they always set up a very nice table for us. In some ways, it feels like yesterday that we
got married :cloud9:I'm sure you're having a great night!

I think that Bernadette is the other direction from Boston, if I remember correctly.Yup-south of Boston. Maybe I could meet you in town.

And just like that, I'm out of work and on bedrest. :wizard: Take care of yourself & babies! Don't feel bad about work-it isn't like they didn't have any warning. Hope you don't go too crazy. I was on bedrest with Lizzy for about a week. It was tough because I felt fine.

DS just got home from school. The science teacher was MORE than generous giving him credit for all of his work. She raised the 60 he got on his cell drawing up to a 100 since he redid it, gave him credit for the other papers he turned in, and gave him extra credit for turning in his signed progress report. Yesterday he had a C in her class, today he is up to a solid A, and today ends the marking period. I never know what his grade will be in Band, but I think he will have 4 A's, a C in math, and maybe a B in Band since he didn't go to the car wash.

I phoned the diagnostician today but she is out of the office, and the pediatrician is never in on Wednesday so that didn't accomplish anything.Great news about the science grade. :wizard: Hope you can find a way to help him stay on track!

Can you all spare some pixie dust and prayers. The " boys' " grandfather was involved in an accident this afternoon. He was on his motorcycle and hit from behind and taken to Shock Trauma, the big hospital around here in dealing with severe injuries and such. That is all the information I have right now. Thanks in advance.

That's exactly my problem, I know it. I don't feel great by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel good enough to get up every now and then and work around the house, etc. In fact, I feel bad just staying still, too, so I struggle knowing that if I'm going to feel the same regardless, I should be up doing something!

I am still just hoping that I can stay here, for a hundred different reasons. Months of bedrest will be much more tolerable if I'm at least seeing my husband, my dog, showering in my own shower, sleeping in my own bed, etc. I'll keep you all posted tomorrow afternoon! For tonight, it's Benadryl and hopefully a little sleep!

Tia what are you and Terra planning on wearing to the MNSSHP if you go

The other night she said that she wanted to be Mickey (has that costume already) and that meant I needed to be Minnie. Since she changed her ideas so many times last year, we'll have to see if that stays the same. ;)

Olivia picked out an Ariel costume last year that has the fin bottom for Halloween this year. Just not sure what I would be. I could buy Virginia flounder or sebastian but the flounder costume was pretty heavy. I have a King Triton design some one made me for Jeff last year that he could wear.

Jennifer, I had high blood pressure before Matthew was born and had to be on bedrest (though I was able to get up some, so it wasn't total bedrest). I wasn't being very good about it and ended up in Hotel Hospital for a few days (where my bp was absolutely normal...I think the OB gave me the HBP). It certainly was better at home! Prayers and pixiedust: that you can stay home, too.

Not yet...It's been crazy busy here & it's cutting into my DISing!!!

We just got home from Katie's music concert. She played her violin & sang in the chorus..It was long as there were several performances from different groups..Daniel was falling asleep in the chair. It was chaos getting out of there. Anyway, I am home & pooped. Tomorrow I am putting some last minute things in the suitcase, going to turn our "coin jar" into some paper cash, get a manicure/pedicure, clean the house & print my boarding passes.

depends on the animal. Primates are in danger because of human encroachment and a lot of ocean animals are in danger because of the global warming cycle...they seem to be adapting better.

I got this in my email today..thought it was funny...

LIPSTICK IN SCHOOL - PRICELESS

According to a news report, a certain school in Garden City, MI was recently faced with a unique problem.

A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the wash room. That was fine, but after they put on their
lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Every night, the maintenance man would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back. Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. He called all the girls to the washroom and met them there with the maintenance man. He explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night. To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, he asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.

Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

THE MORAL OF THIS STORY..

There are teachers, and then there are Educators.:lmao:

Ok now off to bed!

Hi, everyone. I'm checking in. Won't be able to do much chatting for a few more days, but wanted to see how everyone is doing. I don't stand a chance of catching up, so could someone do a recap for me?

Just wanted to let y'all know that our niece, Carissa, who's been in and out of the hospital for the last 2 months, passed away on Sunday. It's been a really sad time, and likely to remain so for some time. She was only 22. She had Down's Syndrome, and had been aspirating her food and liquid for her entire life. I guess it's fairly common in Down's kids, and that indirectly led to her death. The family is just devastated! She was our ray of sunshine, and she will be missed. We are working on the funeral now. I've been asked to play the prelude and postlude music, plus accompany Alan in singing "Nearer My God To Thee" during the service. This is a really tough one.

The funeral will be on Tuesday morning. Wish us all luck that we can get through this. My SIL is really struggling. It's not the natural order of things to have a child die before you do.

I'm sending pixie dust to all of you! I miss chatting with you on a daily basis. Hopefully, life will calm down, soon, and I can come back home!

Hope all of you are doing well:wizard: :grouphug:

Jennifer- Hope tomorrow's appointment goes well. I hope the babies can stay where they are for several more weeks.

Elizabeth- Glad your DS's science grade is much better then yesterday. Hope you get the meds situated.

Robyn- Hope the Grandfather is OK. Hope the school figures out a plan to keep the teachers.

Tammi- Welcome back! Hope you had a productive trip.

Glynis-:wizard: :wizard: :grouphug: :grouphug:

One of the schools in my service unit closed yesterday because of Black mold. It is supposedly only closed through the end of the week as they figure out a plan. This is what they are telling the public. I have heard from a teacher that they are talking September or later when they can totally use the building again.:scared1: :scared1:

They are trying to find churches and other buildings to house small groups of kids, as there are no buildings in the area large enough to house the kids. Plus the other schools in the district are pretty full already. I can imagine parents will not be happy if families are separated at multiple locations. This may get interesting.

Have a great night.

We got an update on the boys' PopPop. He is being released with only minor injuries. We gather he was taken to Shock Trauma because it was the nearest hospital. We didn't get much info other than he is ok, which is all that matters.

Jennifer- The hospital is outstanding. My sister's best friend's BIL was there after being involved in a horrific crash a few weeks ago. The car he was in was hit by a drunk driver. He had broken every bone in his body from his neck down, had swelling on his brain and numerous other injuries. Today he is rehab slowly gaining back his strength. It is amazing that he survived and the doctors/nurses there are a tremendous part of that.

It is amazing that he survived and the doctors/nurses there are a tremendous part of that.

that is great to hear on PopPop. :goodvibes

How are you feeling?

The meeting at the school board was an exercise in futility.:headache: It's not "their" fault that the teacher's are getting cut, it's the counties. The school board doesn't control the amount of funding they receive from the county and they are totally dependent on the county for their operating expenses. Then the superintendent turns around and says that the teacher's are not losing their jobs, just the position they currently have in the school. So where are these teachers going to be teaching? It makes no sense. There are open meetings with the county council next month that we will be attending. We may be a little school but our PTA refuses to let this die. We were the only school there tonight, which is a good thing. We had several kids speak and parents, grandparents and a teacher who knows she won't be coming back.

Emma could use a tiny dose of pixie dust. Her teacher was out of school the week of Easter, her grandmother died so she went home for the funeral. The weekend before she was to come back she broke her foot. Her dog and her mother's dog pulled her down the steps. So it's been weeks since she has been in school. And will likely be out until the 28th of April. It could be longer, she cannot put any weight on her foot at all. So in the meantime Emma's class has had lots of substitutes. They do have a permanent one now that was there the end of last week, this week and will be there next week.

Emma is having a hard time adjusting to the new routine and missing her teacher. She is in tears about it and has been the past few nights.

This is great information! I

I feel a little overwhelmed planning this. Planning a trip to WDW is so much easier, because I know what to expect and what the hotels are like, etc.

You will do a fine job, Beth. I felt the same way last year when I was planning our California trip, but it worked out beautifully. I know you will do your homework on this stuff and plan the most memorable vacation for your lucky family.

Glynis, lots of hugs and prayers for you and your family!:grouphug:

Robyn, hugs to Emma too! :grouphug: She sounds just like Leighanna, once she gets into a routine, it is hard for her to change. Her teacher was out for 8 weeks, (she had a babypirate: ), and she is so happy that her "real" teacher is back!

Tammi welcome back!

Anne Marie, have a great time on your cruise and Disney! I am not jealous at all!;)

Leighanna seems to be doing better with me taking her to school. I just have to get used to this "new" routine!

I did talk to her bus driver, she assured me that she would definitely keep an eye out for Leighanna!

Funny thing is that the kids tormenting Leighanna go to the middle school. I was told that they just had a big lecture on "bullying" and that anyone caught doing so would be suspended. I guess it just went into one ear and out the other! So far it is Leighanna's word against the other, so unless the bus driver actually sees it, nothing can be done.
At least there is only a little over a month of school left, so I won't have to do this for too long!

I check airfare almost every day for a good rate. Hoping to find a deal so that we can get to the World soon!

Leighanna's prayers lately have included "Please help me and my family have Disney dreams, and that we can go back to Disney this year!"
She cracks me up.

Have a great evening all!

Off to do some Disney dreaming myself!

I had my sight checked today and it seems that all is well. He thinks that I need to use eye drops 3 times a day to help them stay moist. He said that will help with my distance clarity. I'm relieved that it is as simple as that. After my appointment we ordered glasses for Hunter as his are getting scratched and he really needs a new back up pair. I picked up a new thermostat at Home Depot and installed that. It appears to work as it is toasty in here now. I also took the kids to a local ice cream place and we had ice cream and they played on the playground. It was a more relaxing day, but that just means that I have more to do tomorrow.

Work was so slow tonight. I'm not sure why :confused3 Gosh I hope it is busier tomorrow night.

Well, I managed to get the front and a little of the back yards mowed today before running out of gas. The running out was my goal though so that was good. I got the oil drained, underside cleaned, air filter off and spark plug checked. The next step was removing the blade to prossible sharpen, probably replace, but it was not coming off for me! Finally got Dad down to help on that part and he managed to get it off finally. There was no way I was trying his method seeings as how I left the yard while he did it for fear a tool might go flying. :rotfl: The real benefit to his coming out though was that he offered to take the parts for replacements and thus he was the one paying for them, not me. ::yes:: So, now tomorrow I've got to fill the oil and finish mowing the back, then by recommendation of the local mower fixer guys, drain the oil again and put in all new. Hopefully that all means I'll have a lot let struggles with the mower this year! It also means I feel like Super Deb with my mechanical abilities. ;) Doesn't hurt that Dad shocked the life out of my by calling me this evening and telling me he was proud of me for figuring out how and doing all of that stuff on my own this morning. :yay: Now that doesn't happen very often. :cloud9:

Jennifer I'm sure it is best for you to be on bedrest now. You need to keep them in for at least 7 more weeks. Trust me when I say that 35 weeks is early enough.

Ooh, 35 weeks is barely a goal for twins! Thankfully, they develop a bit faster and are watched so much more closely (and given steroids, etc more often) that they often get to go home right on schedule, even born at 34 weeks. Still, you keep on having that optimism for me -- none of us are even aiming that high, so maybe your thoughts can swing the balance! :rotfl: I always said, just from NICU experience, that I would be calm enough (albeit much happier with a bit longer) if they a) hit 30 weeks and b) got their steroids at least 48 hours before making their arrival. Anything after that will just be a blessing! :goodvibes

I appreciate your encouragement and advice! I am able to use my laptop anywhere, thankfully, so I have lots of plans for bedrest. I have even more great ideas now thanks to you all, already! :)

As for work, after I make my appearance there today (in jeans, no less :thumbsup2 ) I am done. I was done in about 2 weeks anyway, so there's no sense in trying to work out details to work from home (or wherever) for that short a time.

My focus has totally shifted since last night. I'm over work, especially after hearing back from my partner and my boss (who were shockingly wonderful!)... my thoughts now are just towards staying HOME as long as possible. There are too many aspects of going to the hospital tonight and not coming home until I have two babies in arms that I am just NOT prepared to deal with just yet! ;)

I'll check in after the u/s appointment!

You will do a fine job, Beth. I felt the same way last year when I was planning our California trip, but it worked out beautifully. I know you will do your homework on this stuff and plan the most memorable vacation for your lucky family.

Thanks, Elin! Even if there are a few glitches along the way, they may make for more memories.

No waterparks, I really don't care for them. I know I am mean, but so far the boys have not complained lol

AKL was high on my list to stay at, but we have decided on CSR. Do you have certain parks picked out? I'm sure we can figure something out!

I don't like them either, which is why I thought maybe it would be fun to go together! :rotfl2: I have my park days all mapped out but my notebook is in the car. I'll post those later. :)

Thanks. :goodvibes

Elizabeth - I know you didn't ask me, but we are going to BB on the 10th, I believe it is.

That's a Sunday, which was originally the day we were switching from AKL to BC. Until AP rates come out I won't know if the 10th is a "switch" day for us or not, so we are just planning for DTD that day.

I went to JoAnn's big sale and got lots of new projects. I hope to make Emma 2 more outfits before our trip. Guess I better go wash fabrics and learn how to make button holes.

Buttons are overrated. Just slap some velcro on there and you're good to go!

Elizabeth, congrats to your DS for the grades. :cheer2:

Thanks, Heidi! I miss seeing you here! How is your mom?

Amazing pics, Theresa!!! What zoo are they from?

Great pics, Theresa!

By the way,
I got the results from my breast MRI & I got the "all clear"..no mammo needed until Jan 2009!:cool1:

Yay!!

Glynis, I am so sorry! You and your family are in my thoughts!

 for only minor injuries. I'm sure that was quite a scare for you all though.

Robyn, good news for PopPop!

Hugs to Emma!

The bowling alley never called me today. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm not sure that it is worth my time and aggravation. I have so much going on and this entire issue has already caused me to lose a couple of nights sleep. I'm just frustrated.

I don't know what to tell you. I don't know if it will do any good to keep calling, but I also think hounding them is the only way you will get any resolution. :confused3

Fabulous news! Now they'll have a baseline to watch for your next mammos.

We got an update on the boys' PopPop. He is being released with only minor injuries. We gather he was taken to Shock Trauma because it was the nearest hospital. We didn't get much info other than he is ok, which is all that matters.

Fabulous news!

I'm so sorry. Did anyone mention how much money they are spending on the athletic department/field etc.?

Enjoy your trip Anne Marie!!!!!!

Jennifer -- I hope the u/s goes well.

We may have storms today. I'm sure hoping not, as Jake has a game at 7:30 tonight and I'd rather not have to work in another make-up game -- he already has a doubleheader next week because of a rain out.

Sending out a blanket of PD and :grouphug: for everyone who needs them. Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning DDA!!! I've got 5 kids today, but I'm still hoping to paint :lmao: I really want to get the actual paint color on the wall and I'm praying that one coat gives good coverage since I used a tinted primer. If that goes well then I might be able to put on the decorative color coat tomorrow. If all goes really well I may have an easy weekend since I won't sand again until AFTER our appraisal on Monday. I guess I'll start with referee as Colby and Logan are already fighting. Maybe I'll move on to laundry and work up the courage to paint

Thanks, Tom!

I'm so sorry that Leighanna is having to deal with bullies. Good for you on driving her, though. At this point in her school career, there is no valid reason for her to have to go through this and possibly end up hating school.

I just hate bullies!

:cloud9:

:cheer2: . Hooray for you, Tia! I would have no idea how to go about doing any of that! I'm very much impressed!

Jen My DDIL came home for Christmas break and ended up on bedrest for 15 weeks! She, like you, is an executive and was greatly missed by her organization. When she went back to work this week she was greeted like a rock star, they were so happy to see her. Seems now the crisis is over, the bedrest worked and she'll deliver around Mother's Day as planned.:flower3:

Bedrest is just what teh doctor ordered for you. 30, 35, 38 weeks would be WAY better than now. The girls need everyday you can give them in their little oven of love. Relax. My DDIL used conference calls and emails to keep in touch with the office as much as she could without endangering the baby. You'll find a good balance too.

Now get to bed!!! She was able to get some weird contraption that allowed her to use her laptop in bed. I'll ask her to send me the link if you'd like.

Thanks, Steffy!

I'm so sorry for your loss :grouphug:

Thanks, Jennifer.

Sounds like you have a sensible attitude about all of this. Just do whatever the doctor tells you to do!

I wanted to stay on bedrest at home, but for me that wasn't an option. The hospital was 45 minutes away, and that was too dangerous. I have to say, though, that I did enjoy my stay at Hotel Hospital. I really couldn't worry about Katie and Jacob, since they weren't anywhere near me. I just had to have faith that Alan was taking care of things (and he was).

Keep that 35 weeks as a goal. I made it there! Anything can happen!

I'm so sorry that Leighanna is having to deal with bullies. Good for you on driving her, though. At this point in her school career, there is no valid reason for her to have to go through this and possibly end up hating school.

I just hate bullies!

Tom, I hate to tell you but you are 100% correct that bullying seminars do NOTHING to reduce bullying at the middle school level. :sad2: I can't believe they put middle schoolers on the same bus as elementary kids! :scared:
There was a documentary on Cinemax a few years back where a little guy who had a decent time in elementary was the one singled out to be bullied in middle school. His former "friends" just turned against him. He became suicidal and had to be hospitalized. :sad1: The school did a seminar on bullying, and do you know the kids who were the most vocal about NOT bullying were the EXACT kids who drove that boy to the brink? :sad2: They aren't stupid - when there are adults/teacher/administrators around the kids talk a very good game. When nobody is watching them they are vicious and evil.

Thank you, thank you for the comments about my test. I had kept it in my mind that it is better to do it earlier than later. Even if something was found they could do more about it if caught ealry. I am so relieved. So for any of you whose mammo's are overdue...Go, get one asap!!!!

Definitely better to catch things early! :thumbsup2
"B" isn't bad. The families with "pre-board" will go in front of you, but that gives you the opportunity to NOT sit in front of the little brats who will kick the back of your seats the whole way! :rotfl2:

Princess whipped her diaper off in the middle of the night and wet all over her bed. WHY do toddlers do that? It seems like every one of my charges has gone through that phase. Time to get the duct tape and make sure that diaper stays ON.

Janet, Tammi, Debbie, etc - My current park days are:
8/4 - MGM (check out of Club Level, possible resort switch)
8/5 - MK (my birthday)
8/6 - Epcot
8/7 - MK
8/8 - Blizzard Beach
8/9 - AK
8/10 - DTD (possible resort switch)
8/11 - MGM
8/12 - Epcot
8/13 - MK
8/14 - AK AM and MGM PM UNLESS DH does the fishing excursion that morning and I go for a massage & facial. Then we'll just hit MGM after lunch and see you all at dinner.
8/15 - Epcot
8/16 - MK
8/17 - Departure day, and our APs expire 8/16 so we aren't doing a park that morning.

We'll hit the park at rope drop every morning, leave for a break around 1:30 or so, go to dinner anywhere between 6 PM & 7:30 PM, and hit the park again after dinner. The only problem with that plan is that we will never get to see the afternoon parades. So I guess there may be some days that we don't go back for a break but then don't go back out after dinner. We'll see.

I went to the mall yesterday and this is what I found:

Jones NY Sport, my favorite brand, has now decided to make their shirts very long and very narrow. I am not a long, narrow girl. I guess I will eventually buy one and see if it gets shorter and wider in the dryer. I hated the shorts I tried on, so I may have to find a new favorite brand.

I bought some basic polos at Lady Foot Locker, 3 for $25. We'll see how those fit and hold up in the wash.

Marshall's has boys' Speedo swim trunks for $7.99. I forgot to bring the bag inside so I don't know if they fit DS or not. The waist looks pretty small, which is what he needs.

Leighanna seems to be doing better with me taking her to school. I just have to get used to this "new" routine!

Leighanna's prayers lately have included "Please help me and my family have Disney dreams, and that we can go back to Disney this year!"

:goodvibes
Plenty of pixiedust: that you can go to Disney this year.

Elizabeth right now I have switched dates with us checking in on the 6th, still leaving on the 15th. Otherwise I would have been at MK on your birthday. I put in bold the days we will be at the same parks.

Janet, Tammi, Debbie, etc - My current park days are:
8/4 - MGM (check out of Club Level, possible resort switch)
8/5 - MK (my birthday)
8/6 - Epcot
8/7 - MK We have lunch ADR's for CP at 11:50am.
8/8 - Blizzard Beach
8/9 - AK If your DS like to ride EE, Riley would love to have a partner. Garrett & I both opt not to ride this. What are your dining plans for this day? I have ADR's for breakfast at Tusker house at 10:25am.
8/10 - DTD (possible resort switch)
8/11 - MGM
8/12 - Epcot We will be here at night for the EEH's.

We'll see.

Well good greif, feel better soon. :wizard:

I feel alright. My abdomen does not hurt like yesterday. Still slight dull pain, but I think it was because it hurt so much yesterday. Basically my entire body between my chest and legs hurt a lot. It was not specific just pain all over.

Today my nose was bleeding. My throat still hurts a tiny bit and I have started sneezing. For some reason I have been a medical calamity the last few days.

Night all.:dance3: :dance3: :hippie: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2: :happytv::flower3: :upsidedow pirate:

I am cleaning again, I should be outside. It is so beautiful! I have my 1st jar of sun tea for the season sitting out.

I am going through the boys clothes so I can get rid of what they can't wear or they won't wear(they seem to get pickier as they get older  )& take it to Goodwill.

Gary is at work, the boys are at school & it is very peaceful here :goodvibes

Janet - Sorry - I missed the post with your park days earlier! Bummer about you all arriving on Aug. 6, but airfare is INSANE! :scared1:
So...
8/7 we'll do early entry at MK with breakfast at Chef Mickey's at 11:20.

8/9 - This is so funny - we'll be at Tusker House at 10:30! :rotfl2: We should ask if they can seat us together! All 3 of us love EE, so Riley is more than welcome to ride with us! I can't go on it multiple times in a row or my head hurts, but it doesn't seem to bother DS. :confused3 Maybe if you and Garrett each get a FP for it we can send DS and Riley back through a 2nd time. ;) We usually go immediately to EE, get FPs, go ride Dinosaur (they ride, I don't, it is too rough on my back), ride Primeval Whirl, then go back and ride EE.

8/12 - This day is pretty open for us. We have dinner at Spoodles at 6:30, then we'll probably hit IllumiNations after that. Even if we decide go to BB that morning with Tammi I don't think our evening plans will change. I think I am too lazy to mess with the ADRs anymore! :lmao:

Good Morning DDA!!! I've got 5 kids today, but I'm still hoping to paint :lmao: I really want to get the actual paint color on the wall and I'm praying that one coat gives good coverage since I used a tinted primer. If that goes well then I might be able to put on the decorative color coat tomorrow. If all goes really well I may have an easy weekend since I won't sand again until AFTER our appraisal on Monday. I guess I'll start with referee as Colby and Logan are already fighting. Maybe I'll move on to laundry and work up the courage to paint

Good luck with the tasks, and the appraisal Monday!

Thanks, Tia. I just talked to SIL. She is doing much better today. They got all the funeral arrangements taken care of, and so all of that is out of her hands. We are going shopping today to find a nice dress for Carissa, and that will be hard, but good, as well.

 Continued prayers, Glynis, for your family!

I have gotten a couple of them lately!

For some unknown asinine reason Disney seems to have my email address for things like that but not for AP notifications or discount codes!

Ugh -- doubly frustrating!

The ultrasound is over, and I'm staying home for the night anyway :) There was nothing "too urgent", which was nice to hear. My OB will likely order these weekly, and so at least I realize (not just "know", but actually take to heart) that I could go to the hospital at any time. It won't make it any easier when it happens, but I can at least mentally prepare!

So for now, I said my goodbyes at work (harder than I anticipated), and I'm home eating my PB sandwich, trying to make a list of things I need from Kyle in order to survive bedrest, especially when he's on call! :scared:

I am trying to figure out how much havoc it will cause if we do part of our stay at WL. It messes up 3 ADRs if we change resorts 8/4 - 8/10, but it only messes up one if we change 8/10 - 8/17, and that's breakfast on our departure morning. We'll only change resorts if I would save money by having an AP rate at WL. For that middle chunk that we want to add DxDDP to, we really need an AP rate. I don't want to pay rack rate for the room AND pay for DxDDP on top of it. :scared:

The last chunk at AKL already has a AAA rate and we don't want dining for those nights, so I can leave that one alone. I definitely don't want to do 13 nights at WL. I didn't like it THAT much! ;)

Hello all! Well, apparently someone has been hired for the nanny position, but I'm not too terrible upset. There's no way it was right for me if the only reason I know someone was hired is through other people. The mom hasn't called or emailed since I got back with her that I was really interested. The 5yo was in my MOPS class this morning. At the end, I was standing at the door to call kids as moms arrived. The mom came almost right away and the daughter saw her so came running. I was standing there with my "Tia" name tag on and had told her before that I taught that class and mom barely stopped to get the little girl, let alone say hi, introduce herself (we've never actually met), let me know she'd hired someone, anything. The girl mentioned to me (not knowing I was involved at all) that she had a new nanny coming over to play later. When I mentioned it to Erin she had talked to the mom during MOPS and the mom told Erin she had a new nanny coming that day. Definitely not meant for me with those happenings!

I do plan to apply with a local agency though that has a placement service for Mommy Nannies.

Elizabeth - Any thoughts on looking at Craigslist type postings or would you stick with more "professional"/placement service avenues?

Your next question is tricky. I am an "old school" nanny. I prefer placements through LIVE agents, not online matching services. A live, local agent gives you someone to advocate for you, and it gives you someone to go to if things get weird in your job. BUT, having said that, 2 of my 4 jobs have been word-of-mouth placements, including this one. Lots of my friends use those online agencies and like them, but most of them are single girls who aren't bringing a child to work with them. I think having your own child means you have to be more careful and selective.

Beware of agencies who promote "Mommy Nannies". They are promoting it to nanny employers as being a FABULOUS way to save money. The agency here that places nannies w/ their own kids chops THIRTY PERCENT off the nanny's salary. :scared1: I told them in no uncertain terms would I agree to a 30% pay cut simply because I have a 12 year old who is around ON OCCASION. Call other agencies and see if they will list you without "specializing" in placing nannies with their own kids. There are some very, very good agents who are willing to go to bat for me. They tell the families to interview me and THEN decide, instead of deciding NO nanny with a child, period.

Craig's List can be a decent resource, but it can also be very, very scary. I know some families list with agents, then list on there just to broaden their pool of candidates, so not all of the families are freaks. Just be very careful!

Tia - I just looked and saw that TLC for Kids is based in St. Louis. I know Sharon Graff-Radell from INA. Not sure if she is the one placing "Mommy Nannies" or not, but she is a good agent. She has been in the business a LONG time. Definitely worth your while to give her a call. You can tell her you know me, but I haven't been to an INA conference in about 5 years so she may not remember me. At any rate, tell her your friend is a nanny in Dallas, a former INA conference attendee & Nanny of the Year nominee, and said to call her for advice. Tell her your situation and see what she has to say.
The INA conference this year is in Orlando the first weekend in May, so she will be out of town for that. ;)

Adian update:

April 17, 2008 at 05:21 PM CDT
Well we are in a room and all went pretty well. He isn't a fan of the big bandage but that comes off in the morning. Right now he is resting fairly well.

The surgery surprised the docter which is not always good. It seems Aidan has lots of bone marrow in his skull, so when they started to drill, he started to bleed and bleed he did. His body holds about 800cc and he lost 450cc. The docter told us in the 300+ surgery's he's done, he has never seen a child do this. So leave it to Aidan to cause a little trouble.

Well it all went well after that and we got to stay out of the ICU and not have to get a transfusion. He does look like a little ghost at the moment, but he's our little ghost and he's now safe.

I get to enjoy the nice plastic chair (bed) this evening and we will hopefully go home tomorrow.

Thanks for the prayers and support, we will do this all again in a few months.

Could it be Wishbone? It was a show in which a Jack Russel terrier dog, played a different character in famous literature for each episode.

I figured if anyone knew, it would be you!!!! :lmao: After searching the internet the other night, they finally did find it.

There are lots of hotels in the area that would work. What highway will you head out of town on? Take into account that I-64 is closed completely as that's your most direct route between St. Louis and Kansas City. I would recommend a hotel around Fenton, MO on I-44. It's a quick in and out from the city. You can get rates around $40-50 in nice hotels and it's a quick hop onto I-270 which will connect you back to I-64 to KC at the point where it is reopened.

I would suggest the Arch, because, well it's the Arch. The zoo is nice and has a few buildings from the 1904 World's Fare as does the surrounding park. The History Museum has some neat things on the Fair and on Charles Lindberg. Both places are free admission. I'd also highly suggest a stop at Ted Drewes for frozen custard as it's a St. Louis tradition and part of the Old Route 66. What kinds of things are you interested in? I will see what else I can think of.

Definitely the arch and the zoo! We loved the zoo. We took Katrina there when she was little. We had friends from college that lived in the area and we drove down to see them.

And just like that, I'm out of work and on bedrest. It's not strict, I'm allowed being up in small spurts for a couple hours each day, but I'm at home for the most part and off of my feet 90% of the time. And again, not working. For a girl who counted down to her last day for the last 8 weeks, I certainly wasn't ready for that! In fact, despite my letter saying "should cease working effective 04/16/08", I'm going in tomorrow for a few hours. I need to, just for me. I had JUST made a list today to start paring down over the next 2 weeks. While I know I won't be able to get any of it done in the few hours I'll be there tomorrow, I will feel better knowing I at least was able to hand it off to someone and explain where things are. I feel bad for my regional manager, too, who will likely be on the first plane to Cincinnati tomorrow since there is nobody else prepared just yet. *sigh* It really just boils down to my own emotional coping. If you know me in real life, you would know I am NOT the type that likes being told I can't do something, or need to rest.

Maybe I'm in denial, but I'm not even all that worried about the babies coming just yet. My OB seems to think I should be here for several more weeks, just that I need to stop working and lie around in order to accomplish that. I mostly just wanted a few weeks to do things on my own terms! :rotfl:

Please send a few good thoughts my way tomorrow at 1, if you can. I have a ******l u/s to see my cervical length (at this point, it feels closed but very thin, just in the last week -- sorry about TMI!). If it is markedly short or funneling, it's off to Hotel Hospital until these babies make their appearance. If I make it past that hurdle and get to stay home for a while longer, I think I will be much better and will be able to adjust to the idea of bedrest HERE, considering it's much better than the hospital!

In other (positive) news, the babies are continuing to grow (2.25lb and 2.5lbs the other day, about the 25th and 40th percentiles). I didn't gain any weight, but I didn't lose this week -- so I'm heading in the right direction ;) and my BP is still low. I'm measuring 38 weeks (which is likely why they are thinking my uterus is ready to kick these babies out!), so things are progressing nicely. Just hopefully not for at least a few more weeks!

Prayers & pixiedust: that all is going well with the bedrest.

The INA conference this year is in Orlando the first weekend in May, so she will be out of town for that. ;)

Thanks! That's the first place I was going to check with. They do our temps at MOPS and other church things so I've heard a lot of good things about them. Thanks for the name to start with!

Prayers & pixiedust: for your family!

Oh, I believe it! ::yes:: :goodvibes

Do all your sleeping now! For the first 3 months, at least, you won't be able to close your eyes at all!!! I was lucky, and my girls slept through the night from 3 months on. Those first months, though, are a real blur. I know that I slept in the middle of the bed with a baby on each side, so I could just turn to the twin that woke up first for a feeding. When the second one woke up, Alan would continue to bottle feed the first one, and I'd turn to the second. I never did get the hang of nursing them both at one time. I know it can be done, but it made me very uncomfortable! I was lucky that Alan is a real hands on dad! He took care of all the middle of the night diaper changes while I fed. If he could have nursed them, he would have.

:scared:

I hope you are having a good afternoon!

I'm relieved that you are home safe and sound. I know that you will take it easy now and keep those girls safe and sound for several more weeks. You are already a terrific Mommy.

Tia sorry about the job not panning out, but it sounds like you've made some career path decision and know how to proceed from here :thumbsup2

Another busy day here. I started painting around 9 AM. My parents came down around 10:30 AM. Dad kept the kids occupied and Mom helped me paint. We got the base coat on the walls and it covered well which meant only one coat. She also finished up a couple of doors and I put a first coat on one of the steel entrance doors. Then Dad helped me cut more baseboards and Mom got those primed. We finished painting around 3:15 PM and I was soon off to work. Another slow night, but at least I wasn't painting :rotfl:

Tomorrow I hope to work on the decorative top coat of paint. I will have to do this alone and it is all with a brush and trowel :headache: I'm not 100% sure how to do it yet. I guess I should start off on a wall that won't be too noticeable.

Last night, we went to Julie's house. It was Carli's 8th birthday, and she recently made her First Communion, so I made her a cake and took over some homemade burritos for dinner. We had a great visit, but poor Julie is definitely ready for Tuesday! Please keep her in your prayers.

I don't think I've told you all this, but since this fall, we've had over 100 car break-ins in Sharonville. Our van had been rummaged through several months back (it was unlocked, which was a blessing, since they were smashing out windows of locked vehicles), but I guess Disney CDs weren't very appealing. Now it seems the thieves are getting bolder, breaking into detached garages. My FIL, who lives less than a mile away, had over $750 of tools stolen. They have finally set a reward for information, so hopefully they'll catch the culprits soon!

In other news, Matty was putting his toys in "mime out" yesterday. :rotfl:

I have a doctor's appointment this morning, so I better get moving.

I hope you all have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Hey Jen, Kristine, and Janet!

Did you feel the earthquake this morning?!!!

The one night I almost slept through the night, I woke up to our house shaking at 5:39 a.m.

I talked to Eric this morning for a while on his way to work and he asked the same thing, so I had to look at a news website to see what he was talking about! Kyle and I were both awake and felt nothing, so I'm thinking we were in a pocket that didn't have anything to feel! :confused3 Eric said (he lives on the west side) that he and his roommate were woken from sleep and jumped up completely freaked out for a minute it was so strong (and for so long), so I'm guessing we would have felt something!

I babysat after work last night and we had HUGE storms. The hail they had west of here completely covered the ground like snow. They were saying we were going to get hail from egg to baseball size, and my car was outside! :scared1: Luckily the hail was brief and pea-size at best, the kids slept through it, and the electricity was only out for a minute. Jake's game almost finished before the lightening got too close last night. We were ahead 16 - 3, I think, so I hope the coach of the other team says enough is enough and doesn't make us play the last half inning. We did get the storm that went through DFW, but not the grapefruit size hail that was reported. Ours looked more like nickel-size and I don't think we had any damage -- didn't hear any windows break.

The boys are out of school today, so they'll be in to work soon. I have a lot of errands for Admin's week next week, so I'll drop Jake off for a playdate later, and Andrew and I will run the errands. Andrew is supposed to have a game tonight, so I'm hoping that they still play. The wind got up so bad last night and the dust was blowing so that we were all miserable. At least if they play tonight, it will be much more pleasant and I won't be leaving dirt behind me when I walk like Pigpen...

Have a good day everyone!
