I need to sleep as I have a lot to do tomorrow. My mother helped today. We painted from 9 AM - 4 PM. The hall and entry ceilings are painted as well as most of the trim in those areas. Chris gave the doors a coat of paint tonight. I can't tell you how much I hate painting

That is wonderful! Sorry you seem sad, but boys are just as special :goodvibesSo true Janet! I love all my babies the same. My girls are beautiful & my son melts my heart.
Un Frickin Believable...
Apparently the someone "stole" Hunter's games from the bowling alley before our friend got there to pick them up. Now the lady at the bowling alley had the case with the games in her hand when I called. Apparently they are now gone. I just got the email so I called the bowling alley and of course the person there now has no idea what I'm referring to. I plan to call first thing in the morning. I would think that they would be liable to some extent since they had the case. I wonder if I can file a police report, or maybe they should. Maybe their insurance would cover the games :confused3 We just made a list and we think he had 9 games in the case. 9 games at an average of $30 per game is $270 :headache: I'm feeling sick over this
What would you guys do?
I would report it. Take it to the manager, but if no resolution, I would file a police report. I hate when my kids take those games out of the house since they are sooooo little & you can loose them easily (& they are so expensive) Good luck Deb.

I spoke to my friend this morning and she said that their story is that the girl said that she saw the case, but when she went to pick it up it was gone. That is so not what happened as I was on the phone with her for 10 or more minutes and she went to get it while I was on the phone. She also took Hunter's name and phone number and they NEVER called to say that it was gone. I can call in 40 minutes and I am not in a good mood.

Good morning, DDA!
Hi Beth,
hope the meds work
good to "see" you
Hi, Beth! Sorry you aren't feeling well, but I am glad it isn't too terrible!
Baskin Robbins is doing $.31 scoop night on April 30 starting at 5 PM.
DH said my Mickey Moms' Panel packet arrived today!!
DS had math homework over the weekend. That NEVER happens. So DH told him he didn't have to do it on Friday. :headache: He worked on it a little bit on Saturday but he was really distracted. I told him he could have some meds and finish it once he could focus. No, no, no he wanted to do it in tiny little chunks over the course of Saturday and Sunday. Well, he completely crashed and burned on the assignments. :sad2: Because he didn't bother to follow the directions about rounding!! It wasn't that he didn't understand, it was that he couldn't be bothered to do it properly. I told DH it is his fault for not enforcing the homework rule (all homework is done immediately after school), and it is partly my fault for letting DS talk me into letting him do it without meds. We are the adults and we shouldn't be letting DS call the shots about homework and meds. :sad2: So now he has several pages of corrections to do tonight, a language arts project that is due Wednesday that he needs to work on, and vocabulary for Social Studies. It doesn't sound like it will be a fun night.
:wave2: to all! to Elizabeth and your ds.
Hope you are feeling better soon Beth, enjoy Spring break!
I had to look this up "frenectomy". Sorry Laura has to wait so long.
:wave2: I hope that they can fit her in quickly for the procedure once we get the consult. She wants to be done with these "braces" (Invisalign) as soon as she can, and this may delay things a little bit.
Well that's the deal with the girl's school. Since Daniel goes to private school they do not collect federal funding & therefore do not rely on attendance to get their money. As long as we do not abuse the priviledge (& & 3 days isn't) we are o.k. The girls go to public school & the principal there is a truent zealot too (I like that terminology!:rotfl: )
I can understand truancy laws to a point, but there needs to be more flexibility than there is in most places these days. It also doesn't seem right that the kids can miss school for school-sponsored trips or school sports events, but heaven forbid a parent try to take them on the exact same trip or to a non-school sports meet during school hours.
Stopping by to say :wave2: with a fun post count. :teeth:
Very impressive pictures, Deb and Stephanie!
Congratulations on your milestone post counts, Elin and Janet!
Tia, the party was great! Here's a link to the pictures I posted last week. :)
http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w249/AGoohs-H/kiddos--April%2008/?start=all
And Robyn, I loved seeing Molly's birthday pictures! You really put me to shame with those fancy cupcakes! I'm sorry about the scissors incident this morning. That's one reason I'm not pushing the whole "Alyssa has weak control of scissors" thing at home. ;)
Julie has her c-section scheduled for next Tuesday...hopefully Baby Jack will wait that long! :goodvibes
Alyssa got her first Webkinz (a polar bear she named Corduroy) and I am so clueless! We bought a trampoline for some exercise, but how do we put it outside?
I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. :grouphug:
:wave2: Hi, Amy! I loved the pictures of the Fancy Nancy party. I had never heard of Fancy Nancy until you started posting about the books...guess I'm not a great preschool teacher, huh? (I also hadn't heard of the Clique books, and now Laura is reading them as fast as we can get them from the library. She's a little old for them, but she is enjoying them.)
Robyn, I also loved your birthday pictures, and I am sorry about Molly's hair. Laura chopped a good bit off the side of her head when she was younger, and she twisted a Lego tree up in the front of her hair so badly that we had to cut it out. She has the world's slowest growing hair, too.
I hope that Julie's C-Section goes well and that she can start enjoying that new little baby boy.
I can't help with much in the Webkinz world, but I can recommend "Booger Gets an A". For some reason, I get addicted to that game.
Un Frickin Believable...

What would you guys do?
I don't have any advice, but I wanted to send a  to you and Hunter!
What is a frenectomy?
I had to look this up earlier myself:
http://www.dentalfind.com/glossary/frenectomy.html
Thanks for the info. That sounds like it would be painful :scared:
That information summed it up nicely. Hers is the one between the top teeth. Right now, the Invisalign is pushing the top teeth together and this tissue is getting pinched. It is quite painful for her, so she is *almost* looking forward to having it taken care of. They can do the surgery quickly with a laser now, and there isn't too much pain afterwards. Matthew had to have similar surgery before he got his braces.
The boys' rooms look terrific! I really need to do a lot around here. I wish that I had your drive...I am so lazy.
Another long day here...Is it Friday yet?
Ok now I have too many suitcases!:lmao:

I am so excited for you, but I do hope the week doesn't go too quickly. I'm not ready to get back to school or to get the kids back to school.

Morning DDA!
Question for you experts ( :teeth: ) If we transfer from Universal to Disney at 7am - and it's about a 24 minute drive no traffic on I-4 - and it's Columbus Day - do you think we'd still be able to check in at the resort, transfer to EPCOT for a Segway Tour that starts at 9am? We have to be in the park by 8:45, and I have to pick up our tickets before entering. We plan on just doing a taxi from the hotel to EPCOT....

Definitely call and talk to them this morning. From there, I don't know what I'd suggest. A friend of mine lost her coupon file (and we're talking major-couponer) at Walgreens a few months ago. She realized and called. The manager said it was found and that she was putting it in the safe for her. The next day when Courtney went to pick it up, it wasn't there and no one seemed to have any idea what she was talking about. In that file was about 40 free Chick-fil-A meal coupons and a dozen of the big formula "checks" plus tons of other stuff. Easily a couple hundred in savings. :sad2: I hope they can clear things up for Hunter.

That's why I hesitate to turn things in a the front desk. If there is any way for me to find out who something belongs to, I'd rather do that. Things seem to "disappear" from the customer service areas a bit too frequently. I once turned a digital camera in to the front desk at a hotel. I hope that it made it back to it's owners.

I would think so, especially if you're planning to do a taxi to Epcot. Even if you didn't get to the hotel until 7:45, checkin at that time shouldn't take too long. Plus, you could have the person outside calling the taxi while you are checking in so it's there when you're finished. A quick drive to Epcot and dropped off close to the gate and you should be fine.

That may be cutting close Channon...but you probably could do it. You may be a little stressed though.
Nothing new with me. Tomorrow is our anniversary....I need to go out today and buy a small gift. We had our reception at a French restaurant...so now every anniversary we go there for dinner. It's a nice tradition and we always have a great time...I am sure the wine helps! :)
I am now making t shirts for this darn concert that Jackie is going to on Thursday. It's a far cry from Mickey...skulls and ugly crap :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Tammi- :wizard: for safe travels and that things go smoothly in Pittsburgh.
Elizabeth- Sorry you all had a frustrating weekend with homework.
Janet- Sorry to hear that you may need to slow down on your Disney trips 's;)
Karen- 2 pirate:'s are a good combo
Anne Marie- I am getting so excited for you guys! My girlfriend and her kids were bouncing with excitement over the weekend about the cruise as well.
Amy- Thanks for the update on Julie, :wizard: for a safe delivery Thursday. Those cupcakes took a lot longer than I thought they would!

I know I know...saying the word "UNIVERSAL" is entering unknown territory for a lot of you. :teeth: Just wait until your kids want to go to see Harry Potter! BWAHAHA! :teleport: (That's my attempt at apparating.)
We could always NOT check in until we come back in the afternoon for a break too - just drop off our luggage because I really doubt our room will be ready at 7:30am anyways...I just don't want to do the later Segway tour because then we have people to deal with when segwaying (is that a word?!) in the World Showcase...with the 9am we are in the World by 10am and out before people start pouring in.
...though I've never taken a taxi into EPCOT. How early do they let cars/taxi's into the parking lot?

The computer wasn't stolen while I was gone, but I do have someone waiting a little impatiently for it. The cheesecake sounds great, Beth. Very yummy.
Good morning, DDA! Apparently our warm up isn't coming until this evening so I guess I'd better go talk Terra out of that picnic I suggested for lunch at the park. Either that or we're picnicing at 50 or so degrees. We'll see I guess.
Otherwise, I had better get some stuff done around here. Today has suddenly become my only day to get it done with Kaylin here tomorrow, Keira on Thurs and substituting at preschool again on Friday. Can't complain though as it's a little extra in the Disney fund.

We finished up our Passover shopping last night. The closest Jewish market where we can find everything that we can't find around here is about a half hour from us. We didn't leave here until 6:30 so it was late when we got home. It always amuses me when we go because we really do stick out like a sore thumb. The clientèle is pretty much all Orthodox Jewish and well we are the farthest from that.
Not much on tap for today. Our front yard is currently getting dug up. The phone company is putting in fiber optic cables. The dogs are driving me nuts as they are going crazy with them in our yard.

DS seemed to get through his homework without too much drama. I got home at 7 PM and he was finished, but I made him go back and work on the language arts project a little more. He should be able to finish it up today without a problem.

The Cure are coming here. I told DH I almost want to go, just to see what sort of crowd they draw! :rotfl2: DS said he wants to go, so I told him to name a Cure song. There is a decent crowd of Orthodox at the "big kosher" grocery near us. And my ex-bosses were very fond of sending me to the grocery on the afternoon of the first day of Passover to get stuff! :scared1:
Are you hosting the seder? Brother & Sister always had one at preschool that I would go to. I really miss their preschool. :guilty: I miss Family Shabbat, I miss the little celebrations for Purim and Passover and Tu B'Shevat and Sukkot. I can't imagine shopping for the Seder on the 1st day. It's always very treacherous in the store when we go and we've usually gone with a week or more before hand. This was the closest we went to the start and I was surprised that we could get what we needed. We almost can never get a shank bone for the Seder plate and there was about 50 there last night.
The only thing Eric's family does to celebrate Yom Kippur is to go to an all you can eat Chinese buffet at the end. Eric and his dad are starving so they can easily fill up pretty quickly. For Rosh Hashanah we just have apples, honey and Challah with dinner.
Yes we host the Seder. We don't fit at Eric's parents any longer with the girls! It's going to be interesting as we have soccer in the afternoon.
I think you may be more Jewish than Eric ;)

Robyn - One year I was sent to buy matzah and the shelves were BARE. It's not something you wait until the very last minute to buy.:scared: The kids didn't follow the "food rules" during Passover so it wasn't a big deal for them.
I was never a big fan of Yom Kippur because my bosses would stay home and sleep all day while I wrangled the kids, go to synagogue at about 6 PM (which they were always running late for), and then they went to someone else's house for the big meal afterwards.

Sounds great! I've got Garden Grill on my list and keep almost putting something else in there. I just can't seem to give up my catfish though.
We've never eaten at Garden Grill, and are looking forward to that one but then there is also the F&WF...so maybe we'll eat lunch and skip dessert and eat dessert around the World.
But Crystal Palace we do every trip. It's the only place we seem to find Tigger for Bob - but I might be searching for Tigger in the Character Tent so we can sleep in a little!

Yeah having Matzah for Passover is quite important! But it doesn't surprise me in the least they waited so long :rolleyes1

Yeah, I know I'm not supposed to be back here yet...
Anyway, we've seen Tigger in Epcot at the UK children's store. There is a "Pooh and friends" room in back. There usually isn't as much waiting as the character tent at MK, though sometimes there are only two characters out, so you may have to ask when Tigger is going to be there.

Good Morning DDA-
In honor of my post count I thought I would thank all of the wonderful ladies (and gentlemen) of this family. I came along on the original thread and have found some awesome friends and chosen family along the way.
I came to you all three months ago stating real life stunk and you rallied around me then through PM's and support on the thread. Last week, I had another batch of PM's in dealing with Cassidy.
While real life still stinks, in some ways more so than before, I am taking the advice I read yesterday and saying "I Choose Joy!"
Thank you my family for all of your love-

Aidan Update:
Less then 48 hours and we will be in surgery for Aidan's Cochlear Implant. We chose to go with the Cochlear Freedom. In my new position it has been really great to deal with Audiologist and Speech Therapist every day and bounce questions off of them. It's amazing how the Lord places us in places we need to be at the time we should be there.
So Thursday morning we will get the implant and then a few weeks later they will turn it on. During the surgery they are also going to remove some scar tissue in the base of his Trachea. This should help him breathe better and maybe we can pull that Trach towards the end of summer.
This surgery will be performed at Medical City, and I will spend the night with Aidan at the Hospital. Naomi though will only be a few minutes away so it's not like our Journey's to Fort Worth.
We also have coming up the NICU reunion, which we look forward to attending. We have two NICU survivors and it will be fun to see some of the nurses and staff again.
Will update after the surgery.

Cute bag, Chanon! I love expandable bags like that. I forgot about F&WF. Hmm...that's a tough one. Since they don't have my favorite GG dessert anymore, I'd go with lunch, skip dessert and do desserts around the festival. The catfish is my number one reason to go, but I love the vegatables too. Yummy things straight from the gardens.

Good Morning!
Robyn, thanks for sharing picures of Molly's party. The cake looked great! The cupcakes were really cute too!
Steffy, your kitchen looks great! A coat of paint sometimes does wonders!
Bernadette, your becoming a sewing junkie like me!;) Everything looks great! I have a Lightning McQueen outfit to make for Leighanna yet too! I really like how yours turned out!
I have been so busy with work, and other things that I rarely get enough time to post anymore!
Off to get Leighanna ready for school.
Leighanna is having issues with some older kids on her bus, so I have opted to drive her to school, and pick her up. She is starting to get anxiety attacks, and she is making herself sick just thinking about riding the bus.
She used to love the bus, but all it takes is a few rude kids, who like to pick on little ones to ruin the whole experience!:sad2:
Have a great day all!
I'm so sorry Leighanna was having problems at lunch and on the bus. It's great that you can take her and help with her anxiety. I hope the rest of the year is much better for her.
Three weeks from today I will be getting ready to leave for the airport to head to Disney!

My girls and April do not mix when it comes to haircuts!

I'm so sorry. She is such a doll that her hair will still look cute.
I received my Mickey's Mom club kit today! Along with some brochures it also came with 2 trading pins(Tinkerbell YOAMD's), mousepad, magnet for car, stickers, & the DVD planning video. I already have the video & the pins, but what a special treat to get in the mail today :dance3:
Guess I can spread the magic at Disney & give the pins away pixiedust:
ETA: forgot to add the nice photo included of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, & Goofy!
I did too -- it is nice.
I've read, but am running out of time to post.
Today after work I am leaving to go to Pittsburgh. I have to probate my uncle's will, so I need to physically be there to do that. I'm flying up today and back on Wed. No way was I going to drive. Now I'm realizing that I have 2 parties in less than 2 weeks, and one weekend to get everything done. Unfortunately that weekend is booked with activities. Yesterday I wasn't feeling so well so I spent the entire day lying around.
If I'm not around much, know that I am thinking of you all and sending good thoughts your way!
Safe travels!
That's exciting!!
I had a charge cut his bangs down to the scalp, smack in the middle so there was no way to hide it or even it out.
Robyn - It will grow back eventually. It doesn't look that bad.

I have not mailed them. Would you happen to be available this Saturday at 2? I'll PM you.
Hello, DDA! First day of spring break found me at the walk-in with a UTI. Fortunately, he prescribed the painkiller along with the antibiotic, so it hasn't slowed me down too much.
We don't have any great plans for the week. There is no school, but the other activities don't stop.
Today we had lunch at Friendly's (that place is getting pricey for the quality of the food). We also went to Target and the orthodontist. Fun day, huh? :rotfl:
It looks like Laura is going to need a frenectomy. We can't get into the oral surgeon's office for a consult for a month.
I have been missing you all, though I try to pop in at least to read a couple of times a week.
I hope you feel better soon. PD for Laura and the frenectomy.

That is just not right. I'm so sorry all of this has happened. What happened with the phone call?
(Un)Happy Tax Day!
It's also my first baby's 17th birthday. How did I get that old?
I need to run him over to track practice, and my computer will probably be "stolen" before I get back.
I hope to get on for a little while later today.
Have a great day, DDA!

Elizabeth and Lindsay-- I'm so glad that we ended up not meeting on Saturday because of the extra soccer games. Jake was sick on Sunday, and I was sick Sunday night/yesterday. We think my nephew gave it to us, as my SIL was also sick on Sunday. We saw him on Thursday, so I most likely would have transferred the icky virus I had to you, your family, Caroline etc. In this case, things did happen for a good reason!
Thanks for all the PD for Jake. He was feeling much better and went to school yesterday. Since I don't have a back-up for the kids (used to be Mom) I had to drive in to pick the kids up, but the babysitter met me half way. I then struggled through getting the kids dressed, took Jake to soccer practice, then to his baseball game and Andrew's baseball practice. I waited at the baseball game in the car (no make-up or hair done but I did brush my teeth  ) until Randy got there around 6:30. I tell ya, a Mom is never supposed to get sick.
I feel better today and did come in to work -- no fever but just weak. I may take a nap later, before I go pick up the kids. Andrew does have a baseball game tonight at 6.
For any of those I missed over the last couple of days who need extra TLC, here's some PD.

U2 is probably the biggest "name" I have seen live. DH and I went to see Genesis, so maybe that's a tie. I used to ADORE 10,000 Maniacs and I saw them once. They came back (or maybe that was when Natalie Merchant had gone solo) when I was HUGE pregnant with DS and DH got REALLY snarky when I said I wanted to go. I think that is the only time he has successfully "forbidden" me to do something.
It seems like many, many years ago Aerosmith was here during the State Fair and we had tickets, but there was no available parking and the traffic was INSANE. We saw a guy try to run over a police officer. :scared: It seems like it was also starting to rain, so we gave up and went home. You do NOT want to park offsite at the fairgrounds, and we must have had general admission seats which aren't covered. That would have been before we had DS, so no wonder I am foggy on the details now. I'll have to ask DH if he remembers that.
Elin - Thanks for the update on Aidan! That hospital is just up the road from us.

I don't remember my first concert. I do know that I saw REO Speedwagon, Rush, Peter Paul and Mary, Tom Paxton, Meatloaf, and Goo Goo Dolls (and maybe another one or two that I can't remember) when I was younger.
The funny thing is that Matthew has been to two concerts: Goo Goo Dolls and Meatloaf. A friend had tickets to Goo Goo Dolls and invited him. I bought him two Meatloaf tickets for Christmas a couple of years ago, and he ended up taking me.

I got the princess dresses. I think that my niece will love them. Mom found some stuff at St. Vincent's for my nephew's Prince Charming outfit. We'll be working on that later this week.I'm sure your niece will love the dresses. Can't wait to see what you do for your nephew!
I love my Overland Donner bag. It is a gorgeous color and I think it will be perfect with the compartments in it. This is exactly what I wanted. Thank you Lindsay for being an enabler! :lmao::woohoo: Glad you love it! I'm always searching for the perfect bag but I can't really wear anything around my neck with my camera so I'm sticking with a daypack for now. At least I can hang it on the stroller between rides.
Un Frickin Believable...
Hope you got some resolution for this!
I need to sleep as I have a lot to do tomorrow. My mother helped today. We painted from 9 AM - 4 PM. The hall and entry ceilings are painted as well as most of the trim in those areas. Chris gave the doors a coat of paint tonight. I can't tell you how much I hate paintingAre you almost done? Won't it be great when it is all done!!!!!
We plan on just doing a taxi from the hotel to EPCOT....That seems a bit tight for me. I would be rather leave Universal at 6:30 then be all worried that something would get mess up.
It's also my first baby's 17th birthday.Happy Birthday Matthew!!!!!
Tomorrow is our anniversary.
Happy Anniversary!!!!
and decorate the Snickers cheesecake that I baked last night. That sounds good!

We got this bag in at work yesterday. I'm thinking it might become my carry on. But ours is only 9.99! I do wish they had different colors though! That's cool!

For any of those I missed over the last couple of days who need extra TLC, here's some PD.You need to take care of yourself too!!! Hope you're feeling 100% soon!
I am looking forward to trying this in May!I'm looking forward to going back!
We also had no wait, and there was no one else waiting behind us either, so they had a good long time with us. Piglet was missing that day, and apparently, so was Matthew. :rotfl: I don't remember why Matthew didn't join us.

Janet-I got Cape May for Thursday May 8th at 10:55. Should we go with that and cancel OHana? I would be happy with either one with a slight edge to Cape May so Emma & I can hit Soarin' and Test Track.
OHana is nice because it is served family style so its a bit more relaxing but I think the food is better at Cape May.
She did put us at 2 tables for 2. She said they have tables for 2, tables for 3-4 and tables for 4. She said they had tables for 4 but not 3-4 and she couldn't put us at a table for 4.:confused3 She was SURE we would be seated together. I'm am too-it is one of the last sittings and the place really clears out around then. I have ADR's before with "split" tables and always got seated together-and much bigger party size.

Poor DS. :sad2: The science teacher listed LOTS of assignments online today, but he has blanks for most of them. I started asking him about the different papers. One (that appears to count for TWO grades) he got a 60.:scared: He said it was because he missed a day to go to the band competition so he turned it in without finishing it. Two of the others he wasn't sure about. I pulled his binder out of his backpack and found them. Incomplete. A couple of the others were in there with grades on them, so I hope she has those written in the grade book! Tomorrow is the last day of the 6 weeks. He has now finished the 2 worksheets, and I had him finish the paper that was incomplete where she gave him the 60. Well, he is finishing it now. MAYBE she might go ahead and bump it up to a 70, which is passing, when she sees that he did make an effort to fix it. I don't know what it is about that class. He just can't seem to stay on top of what's due. DH thinks it is because that teacher is out so often. DS gets confused on due dates.
I almost wonder if his Focalin dose is too low. That's what happened around this same point in the school year last year, but we just had him tough it out on the lower dose until the year was over. The thing is, there are some big standardized tests coming and he needs to be focused for those.

Bernadette Cape May is fine, go for it! Just let me know what you decide. The boys & I can try Ohana for breakfast in August :thumbsup2
Also I am hoping to get to Epcot that morning as well, so that will work!
Janet-I got Cape May for Thursday May 8th at 10:55. Should we go with that and cancel OHana? I would be happy with either one with a slight edge to Cape May so Emma & I can hit Soarin' and Test Track.

I saw Great White and Whitesnake in high school. After I moved to Dallas a friend from FL came to town and we saw The Cult - his suggestion, not mine. I am not a fan of The Cult.
My friend who lives in Tampa (and is now a paramedic) used to tour with bands. She worked for a marketing company, so she sold the T-shirts and whatever. The most bizarre band we ever saw (compliments of her) was GWAR. Unfortunately when she toured with anyone recognizable they never came to Dallas! :rotfl2:

I figured someone would let you know how big this event is for you, Vicki. I am glad you have worked it out to go. I can't wait to hear what you are getting!
I'm not sure how big the event is as far as the award. Her feeling it is important may be because it is the end of an era for us. I met her when she was a senior in high school. She was a CIT (Counselor in Training) at Girl Scout camp that year. When she graduated from college with a computer degree, she got a job with a temp agency and she heard through me one summer that we might need a temp in the fall. We have been through many firsts/lasts together in Girl Scouts. This is a big deal for those still very involved in Girl Scouts. She is a very special person to me. Katrina lived with her the first summer that she lived away from home after she got out of the dorms.

I spoke to the manager at the bowling alley twice today. He has been on vacation so he said that he would look into it and get back to me. Of course he never called me back so I called him. He says that Amy, the woman I spoke to initially never actually went to get the case, she just told me that she had seen it and planned to grab it after the phone call. When she went to get it it was already gone. There are so many problems with that story since 1) I waited on the line while she went to get it 2) the phone call was approx 10 minutes long (what could we have talked about if she hadn't gone to get it and fully descibed it to me 3) She had our contact number, but never felt the need to call me right back to tell me that someone had taken it. She works tomorrow so he is supposed to talk to her in person to see if he can get to the bottom of it. I'm pretty sure that we are SOL on this, but I will continue to put pressure on them tomorrow. I told him that I have my cell statement on the way with a detail of the length of the call. Unfortunately we don't think it would be beneficial to file a small claim through the courts. We'd have to travel there to file it, again for the court date and it would cost to file. I am wondering if our home owners insurance would cover it. There was a TV show about a dog that was educational. Each week the dog played a different character. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? And if so, do you remember the name of the show? It used to be one of Katrina's favorites and we can't remember the name.

Could it be Wishbone? It was a show in which a Jack Russel terrier dog, played a different character in famous literature for each episode.

I started going to concerts in 1962. I don't remember if my first was Bette Midler or Little Stevie Wonder. I grew up in Philly with the Uptown Theater and the Spectrum. (Philly's version of the Apollo Theater) And only a 90 minute train ride to my sister in NYC.:goodvibes
Back in the day before music videos, when music was mastered on a vinyl record, artists would actually have to tour to promote their records. The artists actually sang the songs with musicians playing instruments on a stage. If you liked the music, you had to buy the record. There was no downloading, no ripping, no burning. :scared1:
Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane. There are more acts that I have had the privilege to see, just can't think of them right now. :goodvibes :goodvibes This has been so much fun.

Stephanie you have seen some great concerts :thumbsup2
I started going to concerts in 1962. I don't remember if my first was Bette Midler or Little Stevie Wonder. I grew up in Philly with the Uptown Theater and the Spectrum. (Philly's version of the Apollo Theater) And only a 90 minute train ride to my sister in NYC.:goodvibes

I love Spring Break! I haven't been nearly as productive as I'd planned, but it feels good to have this break. I was getting a bit burned out, I think.
I've been working at planning our trip out West. I've had to scale it way back due to time (Matthew) and money (dh) constraints, so I think we are just going to Yellowstone and the Badlands (with stops along the way). I'm a little late in the game for Yellowstone lodging, but there is still some available in the area. I can't wait much longer to firm these plans up, though.

have a great night
I'm sorry to hear this. Sending PD and prayers to you.
Jennifer - Great shower pictures. You and Amy both look terrific and Alyssa looks like quite the little lady!
Beth - that cake is sinful looking! I hope it tasted as good as it looks in the pictures.
I agree!
Thanks! This may require a chat with the diagnostician, the pediatrician, and the school guidance counselor. He is already allowed to have extra time for standardized tests if he wants it, but I want to get input from his "team" to see what we need to do to get the best possible outcome for him.
Elizabeth -- I think that's a very smart thing to do, and sooner rather than later. If DS has had a growing spurt, his meds may very well need to be adjusted. I also think it's a great idea to get the guidance counselor involved. When Mom was sick, I talked to all the teachers, as well as the pediatric behavioral specialist (our ADHD doctor) to get advice, keep them updated etc. and it really helped for them to know what was going on outside of school.
I am finished with the closet :yay: I did not realize just how much stuff I had in there. Took me longer though beings I had to look at all the pictures & read the cards & letters from my mom & dad. I even came across all my poems I wrote in Jr. High. Reading them now it seems I was one very depressed girl, but that is around the same time my father passed away.
One funny thing that happened is I found money in a birthday card to Garrett from Gary's mom for his 7th Birthday :lmao: So Garrett is $16 richer now(strange amount :confused3 ), to bad it was drawing interest  Oh & I came across a picture of Garrett with his 1st set of mouse ears when he was two :earsboy: I found a picture of Riley that reminds me of the little boy in A Christmas Story. The part where his mother is dressing the younger boy before school & he can hardly move :rotfl:
I have lot's of trash outside for pickup tomorrow & the back of my truck is full with stuff to take to Goodwill. I think I had a productive & fun day :thumbsup2
Good for you for such progress! (and exciting news about the money!). I need to get some things cleaned out as well. The archery team from the school my nephew goes to is going to Nationals and they are having a garage sale this Saturday. A perfect opportunity to clean out closets and help them make money. Now, I just need to find the time to actually do it!
Kristine & Bill, hope today is just as magical as the 1st day you met.

Well said!
My parents and DB took Olivia and my nephew fishing today. Olivia caught about 15 fish I was told. She had a blast mom said, she would clap every time she or Ryan caught a fish. Mom took photos but her camera is the film kind. So hopefully I can get Jeff to scan the pic when we get it and I can show you all.
That sounds like a lot of fun. My boys love to fish and we rarely go.
Bob was not a happy camper this morning... he had to scrape his windshield!
We are supposed to go to 72 today and into the 80s by the end of the week, so that was a major departure from our normal weather. :sad2:
I wouldn't have been either! It has been cooler in the mornings here lately -- back down in the 40s, but no frost.
I'm feeling even better today. I tell ya, it's heck getting old! I have an award ceremony to attend for Andrew's citizenship award this morning, then a dermatologist appt. this afternoon. I really hate going, as he always has a number of things to zap on my face and freeze off my body. I hate having fair skin/pre-cancerous things taken off, but the alternative isn't good so I'll quit whining.
Have a good day everyone! :)

Good morning, Tia! What would you recommend for a family with two teens and a 9-year old with one day to spend in St. Louis? Do you know of a reasonably-priced, clean place to stay in the vicinity?
We're also looking at stops in/around Kansas City, Casper, Wyoming, Sioux Falls and any areas along the route, if anyone else has some suggestions for us.

There are lots of hotels in the area that would work. What highway will you head out of town on? Take into account that I-64 is closed completely as that's your most direct route between St. Louis and Kansas City. I would recommend a hotel around Fenton, MO on I-44. It's a quick in and out from the city. You can get rates around $40-50 in nice hotels and it's a quick hop onto I-270 which will connect you back to I-64 to KC at the point where it is reopened.
I would suggest the Arch, because, well it's the Arch. The zoo is nice and has a few buildings from the 1904 World's Fare as does the surrounding park. The History Museum has some neat things on the Fair and on Charles Lindberg. Both places are free admission. I'd also highly suggest a stop at Ted Drewes for frozen custard as it's a St. Louis tradition and part of the Old Route 66. What kinds of things are you interested in? I will see what else I can think of.

I think my first concert was Boxcar Willy :rotfl: I've also seen
Alabama (4 or 5 times)
Alan Jackson (3 times)
Tanya Tucker
Reba Macintire
Survivor
I know there is more, but my brain is still fried

Wow! This is great information. We were looking at I-70 between St. Louis and KC, but we don't know the area, so we could be completely wrong on that. I haven't really taken a close look at any of the areas yet. That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for in hotels.

Good night ladies, it's way past my bedtime.
Elizabeth - don't give away those spots for dinner, I will be putting in for that week off tomorrow and if all goes well we'll be there. We'll only be staying for three nights, staying at a value, driving, and no dining plan, and no hoppers, that should cut way down on the expense.
I think the ADR is for 19 people and a baby in a highchair. I haven't adjusted it since I made it. With such a big group I figure if we show up with a few more or a few less it won't be that big of a deal! :rotfl2:
:wizard: For getting the time off approved!! I hope you are able to join is!
Could it be Wishbone? It was a show in which a Jack Russel terrier dog, played a different character in famous literature for each episode.
Becky, I hope you are feeling better today!
We used to watch Wishbone all the time. Wishbone is his stage name, you know. His real name is "Soccer" and he has had over $30,000 worth of training. (I am a fountain of trivia.) My first charge watched the Wishbone episode about Long John Silver one time. Then we went to the grocery store. There was a construction worker in there who was filthy, and he had a bandana tied around his head. She clenched her teeth and in a very discreet manner hissed at me "Is that man a PIRATE?" :lmao: She was not much older than Princess. I will never forget that!
I am finished with the closet :yay: I did not realize just how much stuff I had in there. Took me longer though beings I had to look at all the pictures & read the cards & letters from my mom & dad. I need to run and get things picked up around here before I head off to my eye appointment.
Yesterday my Mom came down again and we managed to prime the hall and entry. It is an off white color and it sure looks different then all white. Those areas are slowly progressing :thumbsup2 Chris and Mom are also working on painting the room doors as each side takes 2 coats. I'm NOT painting today as I need to get basic stuff like laundry done. I see that my Mom tried to put some laudry away yesterday as there are piles in our rooms. She must have put some underwear away in Colby's room as he kept coming out with Hunter's underwear :rotfl: :confused3 Hopefully I can get enough maintenance stuff done today and then I can paint the next coat on the walls tomorrow.
Someone asked if we are close to done :rotfl2: Nope, I'd say right now we are about 1/2 done as the kitchen/living areas haven't been touched yet. We are hoping to finish the end of the house that we are working on by Sunday which will give us Sunday for some cleaning before the Appraiser comes on Monday. We will have enough flooring in by then to get through that. She is definitely going to find a mess though as the kitchen and living room items are stacked in Colby's room and in our room since we weren't working on those 2 rooms. Oh well, there is only so much we can do.
I took off the thermostat that controls the living areas of the house yesterday and now we have no heat in those areas  I planned to replace it anyway so I'll do that this afternoon. We had the old round one and I'm going to put a digital in. It is a bit cold this morning though as we are still getting frosts everynight. Thankfully all the bedrooms (except Colby's) had heat.

Mike is Kristin's favorite too! She and her best friend (who loves Davy) have a dinner party every year to celebrate their birthdays. :rotfl:
I tried to work it out to take them to WDW for the F&G Festival to see Davy in concert this May, but the dates just didn't work out for the trip. They were "seriously bummed." :rotfl2:
The dinner party is too funny! :teeth: Last May, we left the same day that Davy performed. I literally tried to change our airfare, but couldn't make it work out. I was so bummed!

Yes, we love them both, too! Matthew listens to a wide variety in music and has always loved the Beatles.

Thanks! Don't put yourself through too much trouble for me, though. We are looking at mid-July to the end of July. Our swim club has a three-day meet the weekend of July 11-13, so we won't leave until after that. We're planning to be gone a total of 15 days. That gives us approximately 5 days for travel each way, 3 days at Yellowstone/Grand Tetons area, and 2 days at Badlands National Park.

Okay I just checked and while Cheyenne Frontier Days is usually around my birthday (the 11th) it isn't until the last two weeks of July this year (the 19th-28th).
The closer you get to Yellowstone the better chances are you are going to find a hotel room during that time....though it might be more expensive.

Dressy black dress, a suit, and a rayon camp shirt & shorts that may be too small. Seems like that outfit used to be tight and I haven't worn it in a long time. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the Anniversary Wishes....
Bill has decided to take me out to breakfast...then we will skip lunch and do dinner at Chez Collette. I always enjoys seeing the staff there...they remember that we had our reception there.......so they always set up a very nice table for us. In some ways, it feels like yesterday that we
got married :cloud9:
Awww. That's sweet. Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!

The nice thing is that the zoo, history museum and art museum are all very close to each other. You can easily walk from one to the other and since they're free, you don't have to worry about staying to get your money's worth. For the Arch, check into buying the tram tickets ahead of time. If you can't, then definitely get there pretty early. The trams can sell out in busy times, especially if they don't have the 2nd train reopened by then.
Another thing in Forest Park is The Muny. http://www.muny.org/ It does musical productions throughout the summer. The tickets are reasonable and there is about 10 rows of free seats in the back as well. It can make for a nice night.

Dang it! It is 70 going out. Oops. We take 64 to 70 hence the confusion. You can still do 44 areas as 270 takes you straight up to 70 easily.

This is great information! I did look into buying tram tickets on-line, and I will do it as soon as I have dates nailed down. I am shooting for this weekend for that. I think that the zoo, history museum, and art museum sound great, especially that they are close enough to walk between (and free!).
This is our skeleton schedule/route. There is a lot of driving, but we can't really get around that. I need to sit the family down with a map and the drive times and see if they are all willing to do this. We also need to pick what we want to see along the way. We may change some stops as we figure it all out.
Day 1: Home -> Somewhere between Columbus, OH and Indianapolis, IN
Day 2: St. Louis
Day 3: Kansas City
Day 4: North Platte, NE
Day 5: Casper, WY
Days 6-9: Grand Tetons and Yellowstone Area
Days 10-11: Badlands
Day 12: Sioux Falls, SD
Day 13: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Day 14: Toledo, OH
Day 15: Home
I feel a little overwhelmed planning this. Planning a trip to WDW is so much easier, because I know what to expect and what the hotels are like, etc.

You will love Yellowstone...my mom came up with a great game...pull over to the side of the road and see how long it takes to gather a crowd:rotfl: . Yes, I did inherit her sense of humor. My favorite response to the Game Crossing signs?? "Where's Yahtzee?":rotfl2:
I would really suggest Red Lodge as a possible spot to sleep while you are in that area. I still have connections up in that area...let me see if I can find you deals.
This sounds like something dh or Matthew would come up with. :rotfl:
My initial plan was to find one place to stay for the days that we are in the Yellowstone area, but now I think we are going to move around. I'll check out Red Lodge, too.

Now I need a little help with Boston...Laura and I are attending a synchro swim meet in Andover May 17-18. I was thinking of heading down to Boston for just a little while on Sunday (maybe 9am-1pm or so). How incredibly scary would that be? Is there someplace that I can park outside Boston and take a train in? I'm a little allergic to large cities and driving in traffic in unknown areas. I can't remember which part of MA you lived in. I think that Bernadette is the other direction from Boston, if I remember correctly.

Probably. :( Kassie was home sick yesterday and then had to be picked up early today. A trip to the doctor brought an "I'm not sure". So apparently it's going to need to run it's course. Chase on the other hand has an ear infection which explains her crying, bad sleeping and clinginess lately.
Hope Olivia is feeling better soon and Virginia avoids it!

And just like that, I'm out of work and on bedrest. It's not strict, I'm allowed being up in small spurts for a couple hours each day, but I'm at home for the most part and off of my feet 90% of the time. And again, not working. For a girl who counted down to her last day for the last 8 weeks, I certainly wasn't ready for that! In fact, despite my letter saying "should cease working effective 04/16/08", I'm going in tomorrow for a few hours. I need to, just for me. I had JUST made a list today to start paring down over the next 2 weeks. While I know I won't be able to get any of it done in the few hours I'll be there tomorrow, I will feel better knowing I at least was able to hand it off to someone and explain where things are. I feel bad for my regional manager, too, who will likely be on the first plane to Cincinnati tomorrow since there is nobody else prepared just yet. *sigh* It really just boils down to my own emotional coping. If you know me in real life, you would know I am NOT the type that likes being told I can't do something, or need to rest.
Maybe I'm in denial, but I'm not even all that worried about the babies coming just yet. My OB seems to think I should be here for several more weeks, just that I need to stop working and lie around in order to accomplish that. I mostly just wanted a few weeks to do things on my own terms! :rotfl:
Please send a few good thoughts my way tomorrow at 1, if you can. I have a ******l u/s to see my cervical length (at this point, it feels closed but very thin, just in the last week -- sorry about TMI!). If it is markedly short or funneling, it's off to Hotel Hospital until these babies make their appearance. If I make it past that hurdle and get to stay home for a while longer, I think I will be much better and will be able to adjust to the idea of bedrest HERE, considering it's much better than the hospital!
In other (positive) news, the babies are continuing to grow (2.25lb and 2.5lbs the other day, about the 25th and 40th percentiles). I didn't gain any weight, but I didn't lose this week -- so I'm heading in the right direction ;) and my BP is still low. I'm measuring 38 weeks (which is likely why they are thinking my uterus is ready to kick these babies out!), so things are progressing nicely. Just hopefully not for at least a few more weeks!

DS just got home from school. The science teacher was MORE than generous giving him credit for all of his work. She raised the 60 he got on his cell drawing up to a 100 since he redid it, gave him credit for the other papers he turned in, and gave him extra credit for turning in his signed progress report. Yesterday he had a C in her class, today he is up to a solid A, and today ends the marking period. I never know what his grade will be in Band, but I think he will have 4 A's, a C in math, and maybe a B in Band since he didn't go to the car wash.
I phoned the diagnostician today but she is out of the office, and the pediatrician is never in on Wednesday so that didn't accomplish anything.

I will keep you and those little princesses in my prayers. I'm also not good at being told what to do.:rotfl:

Jennifer - I hope all goes well as you coast to the finish line! :wizard:
:yay: Great grades!!
Can you all spare some pixie dust and prayers. The " boys' " grandfather was involved in an accident this afternoon. He was on his motorcycle and hit from behind and taken to Shock Trauma, the big hospital around here in dealing with severe injuries and such. That is all the information I have right now. Thanks in advance.
I need to scoot as a bunch of our school's PTA is headed to the Board of Ed tonight for the meeting discussing the teacher cut's.

Hi everyone! I'm back home. I hope all is well. Does anyone want to give me an update?
Also, I have a design for Alyssa's bday party that I need the wording changed on, actually it's just the date, if someone wants to tackle it for me. I'd like to have it done ASAP. I'd really appreciate it!
I can do it for you, Tammi.

Sending lot's of :wizard: your way Jennifer!
No waterparks, I really don't care for them. I know I am mean, but so far the boys have not complained lol
AKL was high on my list to stay at, but we have decided on CSR. Do you have certain parks picked out? I'm sure we can figure something out!
Janet - So, your whole August trip overlaps mine. Any ideas on when you and the boys would like to get together, besides the Cape May dinner? I think we're doing Blizzard Beach on 8/8. are you planning on a water park day? Of course, if you move to AKL the boys can all go to the pool together. :rolleyes1
