Amy, you are truly one amazing baker!
Jen, the nursery is adorable. I'll definitely look for that print for you.
Janet, can't wait to see the pictures.
Karen, can't wait to find out which dog you get! I'd pick Atlanta :-)
Elin, where all are you eating for your trip? We still have a couple of spots for ADRs on the DXDDP for this trip. I'm open for suggestions!~
Tammi, don't know if you saw my earlier post. How is Alyssa's leg tonight? And I hope the stomach bug is over and hasn't spread further.
How is Mo feeling tonight? I'm sure she is sore.
Elizabeth, sorry about your sister. It sure isn't helping your situation at the moment. Sending you hugs.
Marci, hope you got a break today. Your weekend tired me out.
Hugs and hellos to everyone else!

Tammi, don't know if you saw my earlier post. How is Alyssa's leg tonight? And I hope the stomach bug is over and hasn't spread further.
She's fine, unless the bruise is bumped. But it's blue/purple. Nicholas is fine now, so if he makes it through the night it's back to school tomorrow. Thanks for asking!
Marci, I hope Randy had a great first day at his new job!
Jen, good luck at your interview tomorrow!
I hope all the sick and banged-up kiddos are on the upswing ASAP! :wizard:
Julie is still hanging in there, and I've stuck to my promise of making them a meal once a week, so I need to go package that up, so Kevin can drop it off tomorrow at Dave's office.
I hope you all have a great night! :wave2:
And Robyn, you know I would help you in a heartbeat if you lived a little closer. :goodvibes

I'm trying to remember everything that I read so if I forget someone it's not intentional!
Elizabeth- I'm glad that you and DS are home safe. The idea to take your mom to WDW sounds great. "Diva Girl"- what a great term of endearment:rotfl: I hope Princess is done bringing you gifts today.
Marci- Sounds like a great weekend, albeit just a bit busy. You simply amaze me that you all can fit so much in into 2 days. Hope Randy had a great first day.
Denise- Sorry 2 of the the Figs got sick on your visit. How are they today. Forgive me but I can't remember which 2 it was. Mo is good, although it looks like we beat her;) Just this afternoon she ran smack into the coffee table corner. Now she is sporting 3 lovely bruises.
Anne Marie- I am sorry you are having tummy troubles. Congrats to Daniel!!
Deb- :yay: for a good bowling tournament for the boys. I hope you got done all that you wanted to today. Congrats to Nick, I hope this is right, on the great report card. My brain is just not remembering the details today.
Jennifer- I loved the shower pics. The cake was absolutely precious. And I love the half eaten cake pic too. With Emma, we didn't know that she was a girl and got a ton of yellow and green. I hated it but I never really liked pink either back then, she wore a lot of red. And Lucy doesn't wear anything but pink it seems.
Amy- You simply blow my mind. The cakes, cupcakes and cookies all looked so fabulous! Molly saw the butterfly cupcakes and wants them for her school celebration. Want to make me some and send them my way? I need them by Thursday! ;)
Karen- Is Desi having a boy?
Tammi- How is Nicholas feeling?
Vicki- Great dresses!!
That's about all I remember. :wizard: and 's to those I forgot.
Thanks for the post to "ditto", Robyn! :goodvibes
I hope Molly continues to feel okay, and good luck with your Passover baking!
Apparently Le Cellier has changed their menu. Not for the better, in my opinion. I might be canceling our ADR and looking for something else for dinner. Maybe we will do an "eat around World Showcase" night after all!
Interesting...what all has changed? We don't eat there any longer (gave it 3 tries, and it just never did much for us), so I have no idea what's the norm now-adays.
Or - let me guess - did they just shrink the portions and raise the prices? ;)
Hi, all. Home from the Peds with Rees and BK. They both have ear infection, sinus infection, and bronchitis. Not a fun way to start Spring Break. I went and picked up their meds and have already given them a dose. Hopefully, they'll be able to travel later this week to see my grandmother. It'll be our last trip to her home, as she's moving to the Nursing home in a few weeks. Her health is really deteriorating.
Roaches are the ONLY bug I freak over. When John and I were first married I saw one on the floor in the guest room where I was working on the computer. He was asleep. I stood on a chair, beat the wall, and screamed until he came to get it. Not happy with me at all!
Hope everyone is well. I'm just so excited that our trip is getting so close FINALLY! Please pray that we don't cancel this one too. And John initiated talk for a Christmas trip, so we're planning to book a bounceback trip when we go. I'm not sure when I'll be working so it might not happen, but better safe than sorry! At the least, we'll be back before a year is up.
Sorry to hear that Rees and BK are sick, Denise! Lots of :wizard: so they're well enough to visit your grandmother. I'm sorry to hear she's not doing well.
I hope this trip is NOT cancelled, and that you guys are able to get the bounce back deal. We might overlap a day or two in Dec., but we'll likely be staying at the AKL during that overlap. We're scheduled for Dec. 11-19; 4 nights at AKL CL and 4 nights at GF RPC. :cloud9:
The artist, David E Doss, that did the Disney sandpail prints that Jennifer is using in her nursery will be on-site at Epcot while we're there with new prints including one for the F&GF!~ I'm definitely stopping by to see them. Anyone tell me where the Art of Disney is at Epcot?
Looks neat!
I didn't see anyone answer you - the Art of Disney at Epcot is to the right of Spaceship Earth, heading towards Innoventions. That store is my favorite AoD on property. :goodvibes
Those of you around -- if you look at these pictures, can you "read" either of the names on the wall? Could you if you were a crazy MIL that looked at them full-size for who knows how long, probably squinting and doing any magic eye tricks you could think of?
I'm totally starting to see things, since I know what they look like! :rotfl:
Does your MIL not know the names of the girls yet? :rotfl:
The nursery is looking wonderful! :thumbsup2
The last of the party pictures. For the most part, I'm just posting pictures of my kiddos, since I'm not sure the other moms would want me sharing pictures of their kids.
Everything looked wonderful, Amy. Your kids are lucky to have such a wonderful mom. :goodvibes Alyssa is turning into quite the beauty, too!
And your mother's cookies! :faint:

I have a charge from Disney Dining on my CC that I can't figure out what it is. The charge is for $193.57 and says WDW Dining Reservations. We are 2A/3C and are on the DXDDP. We are eating at CRT for dinner, PSB for dinner, and supposedly cancelled HDDR. I thought they just use your CC to hold the charge for the Princess meals, not actually run it through if you're on the DDP. We are also going to the P&PP, but I have that charge separate on my CC.
Can anyone help me figure out what the charge could be? I've run the numbers and nothing matches up. I don't want to call if it's a legitimate charge. Thanks!

Denise - do they run a charge for CRT?
As for TS and Signature restaurants, this is our list:
Biergarten, Le Cellier (might switch to Rose & Crown), Chefs de France and Coral Reef for lunch
California Grill, Citricos, Narcoossee's, Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner
OOP possibly Kona Cafe and Tusker House for lunches and Kona Cafe for breakfast one morning for Bob.

They do charge in advance for CRT, but I didn't think they did that if you had one of the DP's. Of course, it's possible that someone made a mistake.
I've had a lot of special event stuff billed under the Dining line item - could it be your tix to the Disney Channel concert?

Hi, all. Home from the Peds with Rees and BK. They both have ear infection, sinus infection, and bronchitis. Not a fun way to start Spring Break.Hope the meds kick in quick so the kids can enjoy their break and get to see your Grandma.
My mother would flatly refuse to go on a trip without her. My mother sticks to the story that my sister is deprived and disadvantaged, so my mother would rather stay home and have my sister go on a trip than leave her at home. If I am going to do it, I will have to bring both of them. Sorry but this sounds like a diaster!

I stopped at Staples tonight to buy card stock (I used the last of mine making patterns this weekend). I asked at the copy center how much it would be to wire bind a book and she said $2.49. So tonight I designed a cover/inside cover/back and inside back to use for an autograph book for Emma. No mind you I haven't figured out Photoshop yet so I did it in Word. It took me no less than 9 trys to get it printed but I'm now pretty happy with it. Each page has 6 2"x2" character photos from past trips (except the inside cover where I put our address so the back can be returned if it gets lost). I'll have Staples laminate these pages (I made them 1/2 sheet-5 1/2 x 8 1/2) and then just add blank pages. It took several hours but I think I'll like it a lot better than the poor quality WalMart one.
Guess it is time for bed!

Robyn! I don't know if I'll be back on later, but just in case... did you happen to see this? :) Thanks for your input!
Robyn, what was your opinion/experience on your 3D/4D ultrasound of Lucy? I had been determined to take my sister to one of my ultrasound appointments because I think she would love it, and we have so many. But so far, they have not been the experience I would want her to have (very little cutesy stuff, since they - of course - have to use it for the diagnostic tool that it is, and have to cover twice as much ground! :)). I absolutely refused to pay for additional ultrasounds when we are getting them so frequently as it is, but I think the experience we had at the Becoming Mom Spa was much more along the lines of what I want for her to have. So.... we initially planned to just do another 2D, but the price difference is so minimal with a discount I get there (we're talking maybe $70 different for 20 extra minutes (double the time -- probably worthwhile in and of itself), 3D/4D images, DVD AND VHS (really? :confused3  ) web hosting, a CD with 30-40 images, additional prints, etc. We of course opted for this, when we saw all the extras we could get, but now looking online I'm just not impressed with most of what I'm seeing. It's almost as if some of the video/photos from the 2D are just as good, if not better than the 3D, if you don't get really lucky. Thoughts?

That sounds wonderful Please post a pic when it's finished. :)
Amy -- those cookies look fabulous. Guess what I'm craving now and it's barely after 7...
Tammi -- how is Nicholas today?
Deb -- how are your projects going?
Thanks for the good wishes on Randy's job. HR screwed up his paperwork and hadn't gotten the drug test done, so he had a short first day. That was great for me, as Jake had soccer practice and then a baseball game, and Andrew has soccer, so he helped me get them ready and out the door.
Jake had a great base hit on his first at-bat, and walked the other time. The team they played was very young so there was no contest. I was so proud of Jake. Maybe he is starting to adjust to having 9 and 10-year-old boys with uncontrollable arms throwing a baseball at him... :rotfl: We're supposed to get thunderstorms this afternoon, so Jake's soccer game might be rained out.
Have a terrific day everyone! :)

Mo is fine! Just a little banged and bruised but honestly that is her natural state!
:goodvibes
And I hope you know that I am just having fun with you. I would love if we lived closer too!
Thanks for the post to "ditto", Robyn! :goodvibes
I hope Molly continues to feel okay, and good luck with your Passover baking!
Interesting...what all has changed? We don't eat there any longer (gave it 3 tries, and it just never did much for us), so I have no idea what's the norm now-adays.
Or - let me guess - did they just shrink the portions and raise the prices? ;)
:cloud9:
Looks neat!
I didn't see anyone answer you - the Art of Disney at Epcot is to the right of Spaceship Earth, heading towards Innoventions. That store is my favorite AoD on property. :goodvibes
Does your MIL not know the names of the girls yet? :rotfl:
The nursery is looking wonderful! :thumbsup2
Everything looked wonderful, Amy. Your kids are lucky to have such a wonderful mom. :goodvibes Alyssa is turning into quite the beauty, too!
And your mother's cookies! :faint:
Good reminders, Amy! :goodvibes
Marci - I hope Randy's first day was just great. :thumbsup2
Jen - good luck!!!!! :wizard: :wizard:
It's good to hear that Julie is still hanging in there. :wizard: that it continues!
Lindsay I refuse to bake for Passover. I did try one time to make brownies and they were simply awful :crazy2: We buy all of our Passover baked goodies. I am baking cupcakes for Mo's birthday party at school.

I'm so sorry, Becky. Lots of   :wizard: :wizard: to get you through the next 24 hours. I know how daunting it is to be staring "one of those days" in the face. You can do it!
Ditto!
They do charge in advance for CRT, but I didn't think they did that if you had one of the DP's. Of course, it's possible that someone made a mistake.
I've had a lot of special event stuff billed under the Dining line item - could it be your tix to the Disney Channel concert?
They did not bill us ahead of time for CRT when we went, we had to hold it with a credit card even though we use the DDP.
I made it to Lansing safe & sound. I'm at the Residence Inn.
I need some pixiedust: to get through the next couple of days. It is going to be a tough couple of days.
Glad you made it safely and :wizard: for the week.
Now you are a DISigner too!
::yes:: Can't wait to see the finished product!

Nope! :teeth:
Thanks, everyone, for the comments on the nursery. It's starting to come together!
I didn't think they ran anything either, if you were on the DDP.... let us know what it was when you've called!
I'm off to work. My regional is in town, which always makes for a looooooooong week. Have a good day!
Hope the week flies by for you! :wizard:
I'm so sorry about your day. Sending PD for a much better week!
Good luck. Sending PD to you.
I think color coordinating will be a great way to fill in between your matching shirts. I'd send you some of ours (which you so graciously helped design) but I only have two kids' shirts of each. If you get there and wish you had more, you can always buy or wash and recycle.
I hope the kids are feeling better!

Jen,
Sorry, I did see your post and started to think about it and then plum forgot to come back and post.
If I had the chance to do it again I would and I would go full out on the package. We (I really mean I) did it on a whim. Emma accompanied us to the one ultrasound we had and it was not a great experience. She didn't really get to see anything at all. The room was cramped and the technician did her job but nothing more. Unlike my ultrasound with Molly, they spent a lot of time with us and Emma enjoyed that. So I really wanted Emma and Molly to see their baby sister. All Eric did was complain about the price
We had 20 minutes of screen time. We got a little more because Lucy wasn't cooperating. Emma and Molly were thrilled to see their sister. The tech interacted with them the entire time we were there. Lucy stuck her tongue out at us and the girls just laughed and laughed. Of course all she does now is stick her tongue out! When we left Eric said he was so happy that we did it. I think it amazed him that we could see her so clearly.
I say go for it, it really is something I wish I had of all 3 girls. Cassi will so enjoy this much better than the technical ones.
You are told to drink tons and tons of water (I can't remember the exact amount) as it is supposed to make the images clearer. There was no way I could have drank that much water, I would have floated right out of the room. Of course some people that I showed the pictures to couldn't make heads or tails of the pictures.
Here are the pictures from our session:
Lucy 3D (http://picasaweb.google.com/eric.f.strauss/Lucy)
Thoughts?

Marci - I think we are going to get thunderstorms NOW! :scared: Maybe the boys' stuff will be rained out, but I never know if that is good or bad for you! If you have to make it up later it might be bad.
Elin - I ran out of time earlier - sorry! The Le Cellier menu is similar to what it used to be, but the differences could be enough to be a deal breaker for me. They no longer offer the "maple" filet, which I ordered without the sauce. They still have the mushroom one, but I detest mushrooms. I would have to deconstruct the whole thing and substitute other sides to avoid the mushrooms. They still have salmon but it is a different dish than it was before. They have pork but it has some sort of chili rub on it. :scared: So all of the things we USED to like have been "tweaked" in a bad way, including the shrimp cocktail! I can't believe I am saying this, but we may actually go back to Yachtsman. Their menu looks REALLY good, and according to Bob & Kevin there is new management/chefs there. We seem to be in the minority of people who have had a less-than-mediocre experience there, so maybe we'll try it again. We went in 10/05 so it will be nearly 3 years since our last visit.

Well, I am home now. I was at work for all of an hour before the school nurse called. Alyssa was in her office crying with pain, saying her ear hurt. I'm such a bad mom, I told her to give her some Motrin and send her back to class, that I would take her to the clinic in the evening. Who knew the school nurse couldn't medicate with pain reliever, even with a parent's permission???? So I went and got her and took her to the doctor. We are now home having lunch and will go pick up her prescription in a little while. They gave her some Motrin at the drs. office so she is feeling much better.

But I am seriously thinking about R&C our last day for lunch instead. We have plenty of time to think about it, I think!

Isn't that the dumbest thing? When Kristin would get a migraine or had an IBS attack at school I would have to go out to the school and medicate her myself. Now, they did allow for the prescription drugs to be left with the nurse with a doctor's permission slip, but you had to have it renewed every semester! I hope that has changed at least. :confused3
I hope she is feeling better soon. I assume it is an ear infection.

Tia and Bernadette - Have either of you heard about this company in Boston?
http://www.boston-bnbagency.com/
They are a B&B and furnished apartment realty company who I found on the Boston and Massachusetts Tourism sites. They have some very nice properties available in Beacon Hill and Copley Square and Back Bay areas that would be perect for a 10 day stay! I can't find out anything "bad" about them so that is encouraging!

It also has to be in the original bottle, from the pharmacy. Yes, she has an ear infection, which isn't surprising since she's had a post-nasally cough and runny nose for the past week or so.

Oh no! I hope she feels better soon. BTW -- I would have asked the same thing of the nurse at the school where the boys go. That would have given me time to get a doctor appt., get the more immediate work done/gather what I need to work on at home, then pick up/go to the doctor. From the symptoms, you knew it was Motrin that would do the most immediate good, followed by the antibiotic.

Here is my grandmothers, no pineapple!
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup margarine, melted
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
6 oz. box strawberry jell-0
3 tsp sugar
1 cup sugar
1 large container of Cool Whip
20 oz. frozen strawberries
Mixed pretzels, margarine and the 3 tsp of sugar together. Press into 9 x 13 dish sprayed with Pam. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Mix Jell-o as directed, refrigerate and let thicken for a while. Blend cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar, fold in Cool Whip. Pour over pretzel layer. Add 20 oz frozen strawberries to thickened Jell-o. Pour over creamy layer and chill. You can also just add the Jell-o and then top with the strawberries.
Hmm, maybe I'll make this for Mo's party. I always forget about it.

You can also just add the Jell-o and then top with the strawberries.
Hmm, maybe I'll make this for Mo's party. I always forget about it.
Thank you! The one I have calls for more butter, less sugar and pineapple. Bob loves this so I'd thought I'd suprise him with it this weekend. I'm attempting to make at least one "new" recipe a week to get away from our normal dinner routines. I also copied a lot of Impossible Pie recipes from a 1982 ( :scared1: ) Bisquick Cookbook! Brownie, Queisadilla, Zucchini-Tomato, and a Brunch (greens, tomato and cottage cheese). And I found a recipe for "Perogi Casserole" which sounds delish! I'm currently looking at the "Joy of Jell-0 Molds" from 1998. We'll see how that turns out!
PS: Don't forget about the Seven Layer Salad too! That's another "pot luck" favorite and might go over good at the party.

Our dinner routines are just the same old same old here too. I always say I am going to do something different but then life just sort of gets in the way.

Morning, all. It was for CRT and supposedly has been reversed so I'll see a credit. They actually charged the wrong amount too (too little), so that's why I couldn't figure it out. 18 days to go!
Glad you figured out what it was for! I hope your credit shows up soon!
Yikes! Not your week for healthy kids, is it? I hope Alyssa feels better tomorrow! Not only will DS's school not give meds unless they are prescription, if he is carrying OTC meds he can be suspended for drug infractions.:sad2: That's why I would never agree to an ADD med where he would have to have a dose at lunch time - to much drama.
I usually have the mushroom filet when we go to Le Cellier in the evening, but prefer the one they used to serve for their lunch menu. Bob looked at the menu and said it looked OK to him. But I am seriously thinking about R&C our last day for lunch instead. We have plenty of time to think about it, I think!
We had a fabulous meal at Yachtsman on Christmas Eve 2006 and cannot wait to go back. Bob & Kevin's review has made me really excited to see the differences now too!
I sort of floated the idea of Yachtsman out there to DH last night. Or maybe I didn't. Maybe I just said I was thinking of NOT doing Le Cellier. DS wanted to go back to Teppan Edo, but anything that expensive where DH leaves hungry really isn't a good thing. I need to talk to DH about Yachtsman and then change the ADR.
Can someone point me in the direction of finding this review please?
All of the reviews written by Mister Disney and Mr. D's K-Man are Bob and Kevin. The reviews are all on the restaurant review forum. :)
Still no word from my mom. :rolleyes1 Her bone scan was supposed to be at 9:15 AM. I guess it takes awhile to put the dye in and let it get where it needs to go. Then she had to do the C, too, so maybe it is just taking a long time to get her in and out.

That was exactly my thought process. I was 5 minutes away from a 9:30 meeting that I had when I got the phone call. If they could have given her something for the pain, I could have gone to my meeting, which would have lasted an hour and then I would have gone to get her. Instead, I ended up canceling it with 5 minutes notice. Oy.

They are a B&B and furnished apartment realty company who I found on the Boston and Massachusetts Tourism sites. Emma will have an AP so that won't be a problem. I told a Diser I would meet them to go on it but I might have to tell her it won't work out. She didn't tell me at first that she's not arriving til 5/10. I wanted to be there at opening and head to another park. I like ending a trip at MK.
It wouldn't have been the end of the world instead of "Some of Emma's Best Friends are Characters" I left off the "of". I wasn't real crazy about the wording and started to change it and that is how the "of" got dropped off. Now that I'm going to change it I'm going to use "Emma's Disney Friends".
I need to tell you that I'm SO sorry I didn't realize that you called Sunday night until late last night. We weren't home from my MIL's yet when you called. And then last night I got all crazy working on that book.
I'm getting very excited about the trip but feel like I have a lot to do. I really need to get my Owner's Locker stuff together to see what will fit in the box. I already have all of Emma's clothes picked out but I think I have too much. An outfit for everyday plus several dresses and now the Car's outfit. But the dresses will fit in a quart size ziplock bag and would be easy to carry to the parks in case Emma gets wet in a fountain or something. I'll have to see how much I can fit in my ONE suitcase.
I still haven't heard anything about my sewing machine yet. I brought it last Tuesday so I guess today is day 7. They said 7 to 10 days.
OH and my boss did my review today without warning. It went well so it was probably best not to have to worry about it. Now I'll get a retroactive raise to 1/1/08. That is a good thing because we are changing payroll systems and going from being paid on Friday for the current week to being paid for the prior week. That means Friday 5/2 we won't have a paycheck. They told us about the change before we got our bonus checks this year and they even offered to loan the money interest free (they would take it out of your check till the end of the year). I opted not to do the loan but this retro pay check will come in handy.

Robyn - DS had 14 teeth on his first birthday, and he had lost ALL of his baby teeth by the time he turned 11. He got his braces when he was 10 1/2 and he only had one baby tooth left at that point.
Bernadette - TOO MANY clothes for Emma? Tsk, tsk. :sad2: No such thing as too many clothes.
I'll give my mom until Friday, then I will insist that she call and press them for the results if she doesn't already have them. I am concerned that this is the behavior I am gong to see going forward - she will be passive abut trying to get info and she will be secretive when she talks to me. I'm sorry, but that is unacceptable. She needs to be very proactive in getting results ASAP, and she needs to tell me what's going on so I won't be blindsided down the road.
She had that pelvic ultrasound that shows what they THINK are fibroids and an area of "thickening" in the uterine wall. Her primary Dr. told her to follow up with an OB/GYN. But she hasn't done that. And I don't know if she even mentioned it to the oncologist. Given the fact that she has breast cancer I think somebody better get hopping on figuring out what those "fibroids" and "thickening" really are! I don't know if the CT will be helpful in further diagnosis of those things or not. Susan's ExMomboss is a GYN oncologist so I may try to chat with her.

We had to sign a note at the beginning of the year stating the the child could have tylenol as needed. You could also supply something like Motrin with a note stating they could have it as needed. That is the only way that the kids can have drugs anymore. It has to be in writing!

I just spent the evening at our school PTA meeting. Apparently, the county budget is up for approval and if it isn't approved as it is projected then our school will lose 5 teachers. All schools are slated to lose teachers, our feeder HS will lose 15% of it's teaching staff. Our school superintendent sent over his projected budget- it includes $9 million to convert all of our football fields from grass to Astroturf. Brilliant, let's let the kids lose the wonderful teachers but give the football teams fake grass. :headache:
Our school is tiny, total enrollment is about 250 students, and old. If they cut 5 teachers, 4 of those are classroom then the classes will become overcrowded to the point that safety is a big issue. Right now we have 2 4th grade classes, 22 kids in each. One of the teachers up for "excess" is 4th grade. That means 44 kids in one class. And once you start upping the kids to teacher ration test scores drop. I see a lot of phone calls and emails in my future.

For the most part, I'm very supported in my role but I have a couple of issues that I want to address with them.Good for you for handling the day well. I'm sure you'll do well again tomorrow!:wizard:
And we will have a few matching shirts: Bra Mickey, new Epcot world one (with help from Amy's Kevin), new monorail (with help from Amy's Kevin), and the Solar shirts. That's 4 out of 8 days. Any ideas for more? and what color shirts for the 1st 2? The Bra Mickey goes on yellow.
I love those! I always use white-I find it cooler.
So I decided we should suck it up and buy that August airfare at $188 one way. At least it's done and it is one less thing to worry over. DH said he heard a report that airfare will NOT go down. Momboss and I were talking about it, too, and she also thinks it will keep climbing. She said the flight for Princess over Memorial Day is over $500! :scared1: Dadboss used to work for American and he was going to call some of the folks over there to see if he can get an idea of what's coming, but Momboss thought they would probably just buy the tickets before it gets worse!
Now to tackle the Le Cellier issue...:woohoo: I was afraid you would go home early and I'd miss you. I'm so glad you're booked now. I've been watching my Aug airfare since they day I bought it and it hasn't gone up too much but it hasn't dropped at all. Dorinda only paid $89 each way (I paid $129 to, $114 home) but she's flying on Tuesdays. My airfare for May is throught the roof-I paid $109 each way. The flight down has been all over the place up over $200 at times but the flight home is up to $334 and sticking there.:scared1: I don't see flights coming down.
So i bought a camera today ( a sony DSC-W120)...After talking to a friend, im wondering if i should have gotten a canon powershot..
I wanted something simple but i want to make sure i will like the pictures--anyone have a sony
That Sony looks like a great choice! I've had 3 Sonys and love them.

:scared1:  :scared1:

Robyn - Isn't there a state law about the max # of kids in a classroom? I read an article that says astroturf is a contributing factor to MSRA because the bacteria don't die. When the kids get scraped it enters their bloodstream. You might Google it and submit the articles. :confused3

It is really sad that schools think sports are more important than the teachers needed for our children. Don't get me wrong, I am all for sports at school, but not when the cost is our children's education.

I cancelled Le Cellier and I booked Yachtsman. The CM said "You're going to cancel this? Are you SURE?" Yep. I'm sure.
Bernadette - The thing is, with DS and me flying on miles and DH paying for his ticket trying to coordinate the flights was turning into a huge headache. Even if we wanted to go home early I don't think we could have all gotten on the same flight for much cheaper. And most of the flights available with miles now are connecting, not non-stop. So it's done. We ended up paying about $324 for DH round trip, and we paid $150 to transfer miles from DH to DS, so still under $500 for all 3 of us.
I just talked to my mom. Now the behavior I expected to see is coming out. She didn't call the oncologist today, she hasn't scheduled an OB/GYN appt, she hasn't talked to the social worker at the hospital. She is griping that it is just too inconvenient for her to call these people because she has to WORK, and she can't answer her phone during working hours. I don't know if it is denial or if she feels overwhelmed or what, but she is really letting the balls drop. She said she has been having headaches but she doesn't know which pain relievers she can take. She hasn't gotten the calcium, vitamins, or baby aspirin she is supposed to be taking. (I wanted to go to Sam's and get all of that while I was there, but I didn't have my Sam's card. When she figured out WHY I wanted to go she said no. But I also didn't have my debit card or any checks so I wouldn't have been able to pay for the stuff, and that was my whole intent. )
I understand that having cancer could easily become a full-time job in itself, but the thing is, she HAS to take care of herself! She prefers to avoid unpleasant things, like getting divorced, or moving from her house, or completing her tax returns. But avoiding these calls is going to have a VERY bad outcome. DH said I can get mad at her all I want, she won't budge. And he is right. Because this is how she gets. :sad2:

A group of parents is headed to the school board next week to "be heard". I doubt it will make a difference but we need to make it known that it is unacceptable. Since we are a small community we don't have the numbers that the larger more affluent communities do, which already puts us at a disadvantage.
One of the guidelines is 1 teacher to 32 kids. But it's not a rule, just a guide. There is also a rule that each student should have a 20 sq ft area. One of the 4th grade teachers measured his room and then arranged the desks accordingly. He only fit in 29 desks. He also had to remove his bookcases, the overhead projector and 2 tables the kids use for group work. Our school is old therefore the classrooms are small.
Thanks for the heads up on the MSRA. I'll add that to my emails.
We really love the school. Eric went there as a kid and Emma thrives there now. The teaching staff is great and everyone knows everyone. I came from a small elementary school and the kids that I went to school with from K-12 most of us were top in our classes throughout our years. Obviously not all of them but about 10 just from my class.

I agree that sports are important too. I think that if the schools want the Astroturf then their Booster Clubs should pay for it not the school board or tax dollars.
I went to school with a phenomenal football player. He was being courted by all the major colleges but could add 2+2. The teachers in high school were basically threatened by the principal to pass him.

Our HS baseball team is always trying to raise money for stuff. I don't really know how they determine who pays for what.
I know there is a proposal right now that would realign the zones for the middle schools. They would offload a bunch of kids into DS's school, putting it at 115% capacity or some insane # like that. The school they would pull the kids from would go to 65% capacity. Who designs these plans? Chimpanzees? It seems like it puts the high school way over capacity, too. I can't remember exactly. I saved the e-mail I sent to the school district to protest, but not the original e-mail that outlined the proposal. It would put our school at 107% capacity and put the other one at 66%. I was pretty close going from memory!
I guess I should look up the other school so we can move over there. A school at 66% capacity might be nice! :rotfl2:
At least in high school he will have more choices. There are multiple magnet high schools so if our "neighborhood" school is overflowing we'll try to put him somewhere else.

::yes:: We have an elementary school that was just built in the last 4 years, because the old school was too small for the growing community. Well guess what- they are building hundreds of new homes in that school's area. It is at capacity now. What's gonna happen then the new homes are filled?
Our county combined my HS with our rival HS when I was in 11th grade. Our school was a MS/HS combo (7th -12th grades) and small. So by combining the 2 we got a lot of curriculum advantages that we wouldn't have had otherwise. It was feared to be a bad move back when it was in the planning stages but overall it worked out well.

We had to sign a note at the beginning of the year stating the the child could have tylenol as needed. You could also supply something like Motrin with a note stating they could have it as needed. That is the only way that the kids can have drugs anymore. It has to be in writing!
We had to sign a form at the beginning of the school year outlining what meds we were comfortable with the school nurse giving out. It covered pain relievers, antacids and cough drops. The nurse is usually good about calling if she gives the boys anything.
I have read everyword, and it took me a couple of hours to wade through. It seems that you all have been chatty.
Hunter has been home sick the last 2 days. Sore throat, cold and cough. He was feeling better tonight so hopefully he will be back to school tomorrow. Nick got off the bus complaining of a tummy ache so now we'll have to see how that progresses. Everyone in my brother's house is ill so I'm not awfully hopeful that we won't all be sick.

My days seem to be never ending. Yesterday I managed to get Nick's room painted a 3rd time. I got it cleaned up and with the help of Chris and my Dad we got the hall floor laid as well as Nick's floor. Chris and I finished up at 11 PM last night. Dad was here at 7:30 this morning. He helped me cut the baseboard moldings for Nick's room and hall then we laid the floor in the entry. He left and I went out on the deck and painted all of Nick's molding and started painting his closet doors. I had to leave for work, but my Dad came back and secured the molding in Nick's room. Chris painted the closet doors when he got home (the need a second coat though). I got out of work very early as we were very slow at work and I was ansty having so much to do. I ran to Home Depot, Bj's and the mattress store. I got Nick a new bed frame and box spring. I came home to Chris working on the trim around the closet with some BIG mistakes on my blue paint  I was and still am pretty mad. Apparently the tape wouldn't stay stuck so he tried to freehand with a big brush :sad2: Now I will have to touch up his messes and do it myself tomorrow. I keep threatening to quite my job just to stay home and babysit the house progress. I really want to delegate jobs, but so far it has all come back to bite me in the butt. There were other little things tonight, I really love the man, but sometimes he drives me crazy. Rant over.
Tomorrow Colby has an 1 1/2 hour speech eval then I will try to get more done in Nick's room. I really want to put it back together. Then we need to reorganize the mess as I can't stand how bad the house looks and the fact that I can't find ANYTHING. Since this seems to be moving so slowly we will have disorganization for another month or so. I need some sort of normalcy.
 and :wizard: to everyone as it seems we can all use some.

Today I had a long day at work. I was at the elementary school in the morning and afternoon and then to the office and then at a different elementary school at night.
So both of my assignments which are due by midnight are done. I almost thought they were not going to be, as while I was working on two separate files somebody accidentally hit a ground fault switch on one of the outlets, turning off the computer and losing parts of both files. Then the computer would not turn back on again at all. It finally decided to go back on and work.
So i quickly retyped enough for both and submitted. I am hoping that I receive a total of at least 86 points between the two assignments then I have an A in the class and can be done with the class.:cool1: :cool1: YAAAAAAAA

My mom is finished with her tests but they didn't tell her anything. Unfortunately, none of the bone scans or other tests come back quickly. It's so frustrating, because I always felt like since it was MY mom, those health professionals should have been fitting her in immediately, reading the tests immediately, and calling us immediately. I did figure out that they do move things along the more sick someone is. So, I guess what I'm saying is I think it's still a good sign that they don't consider her health to be so bad that she's an emergency case. That being said, I don't blame you for not wanting to wait. Here's a  . I'm sending PD to her, her doctors and to you. I hope she makes the appt. she needs.

How frustrating! It is amazing to me how much schools will sink in to their athletic departments but cut the budgets for their classrooms.
I hope Hunter is better and that Nick isn't sick. It sounds like you are still making progress -- sorry for the set-backs. I hope the eval today goes well.
Night all
Sending PD for your assignments.
We are supposed to have storms today again. We had them several times yesterday, but not enough rain to stop sports last night. I'm hoping we don't get enough rain to rain out the games on Thursday, but it's not looking good.
Jake's soccer game went well -- they won, and he scored two goals. One was really cool -- he was a ways away and kicked it on a diagnol line in to the side of the goal. He was pumped! We got in around 8, started doing wash (all the sports uniforms from this week/weekend) and finishing homework. More bad storms did come throught last night, but we escaped damage.
Andrew only had Kaleo tonight, but his rec baseball coach called batting practice -- we'll see if they call it off. I also need to get him to the library for a school assignment (they have to explore the library and have their forms signed/filled out by the local library).
I have to run to the school for "gallery" day for Andrew this morning. He's been on a six week rotation in art.
Have a good day everyone. :)

Today was supposed to bit a bit leisurely at least this morning. That ended when Hunter called at 8 AM to tell me that he forgot his huge science fair board :headache: I told him I would drop it off at 10 when I was heading by the school anyway. That wouldn't work as they had 1 1/2 hours starting at 8 AM to work on the projects. Somehow I managed to get a shower, deliver the board and be back home by 8:30 :rolleyes1 Now I'm allowing myself an hour to DIS, catch up on missed shows. Then I will have to get us ready to head to Colby's appointment. My mother and I both feel that Colby is becoming more difficult to understand. I think that he is talking a lot more and his vocabulary is growing, but he is so difficult to understand. The best case scenario would get him started with speech therapy within the next month and have it continue over the summer. That would give him some good skills BEFORE the start of school next year. Any pixie dust would be appreciated.
When we get home I plan to get all the touch up done in Nick's room and hopefully that room will be ready to reload with his stuff :wizard:
Colby is snuggling with me on the couch and I am definitely sucking it up.

Good Morning Friends,
Lots of PD :wizard: for all the kiddos, looks like they're having a rough week with illness and injury.
Deb - I know you don't feel like you're accomplishing near enough, but it sure sounds like you're making great progress. PD :wizard: for Colby's eval.
DD called from school last night to tell me that she had been sick, I just hate that I'm so far away and can't at least go take her some medicine and sprite for her upset stomach, hopefully she's feeling better this morning.
I have Glynis's pot roast in the crock pot and I plan on planting some flowers today followed by some much needed house cleaning. I may get really crazy and try and mow the front yard, but that's a very slim possibility as the mower doesn't like to cooperate with me.
Have a great day, I'm sure I'll be checking in off and on today.

I hope your speech appt. goes better than Bob's did when he had Bethany evaluated a few weeks ago. She is difficult to understand, can't pronounce R, S, TH, etc. The therapist said that according to state guidelines if her ability to learn isn't affected, she doesn't need speech, and that her issues are 'age appropriate'. If that was my child I would have been furious. Every adult who talks with her thinks she has a speech issue, she is NOT average amongst her piers, and it is going to become a social issue with friends if it doesn't get corrected soon. And of course she isn't my daughter so I can't push the issue. :sad2:

Marci - sounds like another amazingly busy day and night for you all. Enjoy the time with your 3 boys! I hope Randy is enjoying his new job.
Debbie - I hope that your poor DD gets to feeling better very soon. I agree that it is difficult to deal with being far away. I have been "meeting" a number of F'burg DISers the past few weeks and think it would be fun to try to set up a mini-meet. Tammi and I are thinking that the first weekend in May would work out best. Second weekend is Mother's Day, third weekend Kristin graduates from college, fourth weekend is Memorial Day, and the last weekend is my 35th college reunion.
Tammi and I were wondering if any of you who are close enough would want to join us? We have no plans yet but could quickly fill up as many days as you all wanted. Let us know what you think!

I was ready to hand in my mom license or whatever the heck it is you get when you have kids. Cassidy has been stealing from the disney fund (I have no idea how much because it's a piggy bank) and then lied about it and used some very mean tactics in trying to argue with me. The only funny line was "fine, don't expect any calls from me tommorrow" AFTER I took away her phone. She had me so upset I couldn't sleep so I wrote her a note.
A couple of good things came out of it:
I found a very funny trip report....along the lines of Delswife
Cassidy actually apologized to me this morning, without prompting. We'll see how much she likes me after the note.
So I am trying to function today on what equates to 2 hours of sleep. Good golly, I feel bad for parents who have this crap more often than I do.
Thanks for the shoulders to vent on.

Elin - I know what the counselor will say. :rotfl2: I am horrible with boundaries and I need to stop trying to force my mother to do things because she will just be more determined to resist. I have the knowledge, I just can't seem to figure out how to apply the practices to this particular situation. I will see how things go over the next several days.
My Dr. says my mom is an adult and I need to let her make her own decisions, and when the dust settles I will pick up the pieces the best I can. My selfish side just panics at the thought of having to be my sister's guardian. I don't want that responsibility, so I HAVE to get my mom to cooperate.

Quick question, if you were going to drive down the night before, where would be a good place to stay? We'd arrive around 11pm.
Also, which Park would be quickest (parking, getting into the park) to use my ticket that I got from Undercovertourist and then upgrade it to the AP? I have to have the AP to check into the CR, and you can only upgrade a "used" ticket so I have to physically go into the park. I think MK would be a bad choice since you park at TTC and AK is far away. So, Epcot or MGM?
Thanks!

Theresa - Your story reminded me of something I still feel guilty about to this day. When I was in the sixth grade, (a long, long, time ago ) we were selling World's Finest Candy bars. Well I ate more than I sold and had a real delima when it came time to turn in the money. My parents had a collection of silver 50 cent pieces, so I stole them and paid for the candy bars. I haven't done it yet but my concious still tells me that I need to confess my crime. I bet Cassidy will regret her actions for many years to come,I know I do.
Karen - Us Moms consider it our job to make our kids crazy.
Elizabeth - I still say follow your heart, when the day is over you're the one who has to live with the decisions you've made. When Mom was in the hospital the last time she said she wanted to go home, I took it upon myself to have them get the doctor and insist that they discharge her right then. My father wanted to wait, and my brother that was there didn't say anything, the doctor told me, You do realize she can get much worse, I told her that my Mom wanted to go home and that was where I was taking her. Now I couldn't sleep that night wondering if I had just shortened my mothers life, I'm so grateful that my Mom was able to reassure me that she wanted to be at home. This allowed her to spend time with all her family and friends, especially my nephew who was 2 at the time and her baby.
I'm quite proud of myself, I mowed the front yard myself. Now it will never pass DH's inspection, :rotfl: , but it is done!
Thanks for all the well wishes for DD, she is feeling better this morning, still not 100% but getting there.

I'm not sure about the place to stay as I haven't stayed off site since the
70's when I went with my mom and dad, Magic Kingdom was the only park, and tickets were booklets with different letter tickets.
I would think that MGM would be the easiest to get in and out of.
Hope you're feeling well soon, you've got to make to Disney this time, third times a charm. (maybe you should design a shirt with that on it)

What was the question? I was taking the lid off of Princess's Play Doh and forgot what I was going to post.
Tammi - Yes, that is exactly how I feel! This is the problem, this is the solution, now GO! Part of that stems from me being the only child for 10 years, and the eldest child of an alcoholic. I want to fix everything and I have no tolerance for NOT fixing things that have an obvious solution. I told DH I practically gift wrap solutions for my mother and she insists on arguing about it.
She's not sure what pain reliever to take. Ask the pharmacist. Pharmacist was busy. Call the 1-800 number to talk with an Astra Zenica pharmacist. Her sister has the info for the Arimidex. It has a dedicated website - look it up! She would rather fuss about the problem than fix it. It takes all the fun out of it for her if I actually have an answer.
Anne Marie - They are expanding the seating for Sunshine Seasons.
Denise - Feel better soon!
Debbie - World's Finest chocolate is the best chocolate I have ever had. I am sure if you confess you will be forgiven, because it was an unfair temptation. ;)
I have no clue what to do about my mother. My Dr. said I need to do as much as it takes for me to back away with a clear conscience. She doesn't want me to abandon my mother, she wants me to turn ownership of the decisions over to my mother and just be an observer. But that's not the way I roll.

Good afternoon, DDA! I lost my place a couple of days back so I'm not sure where I left off. Did I miss anything big? Nothing too much here. Just on kid duty alot this week and seems it will continue the rest of the week. At least the next two days I get paid for. I get double paid tomorrow subbing at MOPS babysitting and then again Friday subbing for preschool.
The biggest news is that I may be looking at a nanny job. Someone in the church needs a nanny for her 3 girls and we're supposed to talk this afternoon. She has a 10yo, 5yo (one month younger than Terra) and a 9mo. She knows up front from my initial email response that Terra would be with me and wants to talk to me so that should be good. Elizabeth - if you have any advice for me up front, I'd love to hear it!

Just popping in - :wizard:  all around - sounds like a lot of us could use it right now!
Elizabeth - just my 2 cents, but I think it might be really helpful to you to have someone else to talk to/support you as you go through this stuff with your mom.
Not to go into a huge story (I can do that on Sat. if you like ;) ), but my maternal grandfather was an alcoholic, and your mom's approach to life sounds a lot like my grandmother's approach to things in her later years. Ironically, she was the one that held things together while my grandfather was in the throes of his alcoholism, but when he gave up alcohol shortly after I was born, it became increasingly difficult for her to make decisions, see the future ahead, etc. (I'm sure there's something in there about her needing to be "needed", but I won't go off on that tangent.) As she aged, she had demensia as well, and it just made the fussing/vexing worse.
My mom is an only child, and so had to shoulder the burden of taking care of both of her parents as they aged. It would have been difficult even if her realtionships with them had been picture perfect, but she had a lot of similar feelings about her mom and dad that you do. Although he "reformed" for about the last 15 years of his life, my mom could never entirely forgive my grandfather for all that he put them through all those years, and she was at the same time protective, but then also angry, at her mom - she begged her to leave him and she wouldn't, etc., etc.
Unfortunately, my mom didn't get any sort of counseling until about 7 years ago, and she feels she would have really benefited from it earlier, and might have made those last years with her parents easier to bear (dealing with the guilt/burden of their care, etc. - both ended up in nursing homes - grandfather died 1st of emphesema, and my grandmother about 3 years later of demensia/Alzheimer's and pneumonia). What prompted her to seek counseling was dealing with my brother, who unfortunately seemed to inherit the alcoholism of my grandfather. She can now see how her life with an alcoholic father, and her thus unique relationship with her mother living in that daily battlefield, had really colored a lot of aspects of her life. She is now very cognizant of how it still affects her, and is doing a remarkable job of learning to trust those around her not to hurt her, dealing with codependency issues, etc.
So, long story short, but it might really be helpful to you. It's hard to not want to go in and "rescue" someone, even when there are clearly consequences for you, no matter what happens. Lots of    as you guys get things worked out.

Tia - That's great news!
My favorite websites are www.nannyanswers.com
www.lifewithnanny.com
www.nanny.org and Nanny Network (don't remember the exact web address, but they have boards like this).
Look over the sample contracts so you will know what sort of questions to ask. The contract on Life With Nanny is like 8 pages long, but it is a compilation of a lot of nannies' worst experiences. You need to discuss EVERYTHING in detail and get it in writing because things that you think are SO obvious are sometimes not obvious at all to an employer. Since my old computer crashed and my new computer doesn't have Word I don't think any of my documents are accessible, but I can e-mail you the questions I ask in my first interview and follow up with the questions I ask when I go into contract negotiations. Being a nanny is just as "serious" as any other job, so don't let any prospective employer treat you like a babysitter. I am NOT a babysitter.
My biggest issues have been : being denied use of my sick days because DS was sick - not me, being docked vacation time because it was ICY outside and the whole city was shut down, and being denied use of my personal days because it was inconvenient for my boss for me to be off. And after I had those issues I made sure my next contract covered those things IN DETAIL.
I have to run Princess to a party. I'll chat with you later!

Thanks!
Well....you could take a chance that they won't ask you for it. I know they usually don't ask me for it.
OR....I would drive to the CR, park and then walk over to the MK.
I'm quite proud of myself, I mowed the front yard myself. Now it will never pass DH's inspection, :rotfl: , but it is done!
That's great! You should be proud!

I would love to join you, but I am not sure if it will work out. I added it to my planner in pencil. I could probably do Friday afternoon/evening into Saturday night. It looks like it will take about 5 hours each way. I am not sure if that is worth it for one day. I would love to stay through to Sunday, but I am supposed to help at the Relay for Life Pancake breakfast.
Is anyone still doing the proposed meet at the end of June in Philly?
I would love to do this as well. It is tentatively penciled in my calendar. If I get a camp job, I would not be able to go.

You're right... I hope she will get them checked out soon! :wizard:
And we will have a few matching shirts: Bra Mickey, new Epcot world one (with help from Amy's Kevin), new monorail (with help from Amy's Kevin), and the Solar shirts. That's 4 out of 8 days. Any ideas for more? and what color shirts for the 1st 2? The Bra Mickey goes on yellow.

Good night, friends! I have a 7:30 dental appointment in the morning! See you after that. :)
Hooray for no cavities! :teeth:
I hope Colby's speech eval goes well, and that your whole family gets and stays well soon! :wizard:
:sad2:
That's ridiculous! We get weekly speech therapy (to start anyway) for almost all of our clients, even if they don't show a delay or impediment! It never hurts, and they can work on cognitive stuff, too! If a child really does have some difficulty, it's absurd that they don't get it! :(
Elin-thanks for the great dittoable posts!!:thumbsup2

I picked up Emma's autograph book today from Staples. It is a million times better than the WalMart version but the lamination on the cover is a bit bubbled. The other side of the lamination is perfect. I provided the 35 sheets of card stock for 70 pages. I paid $13.50 for a package of 250 sheets so $1.89 for paper, $1 to laminate, $2.49 to bind, .99 to trim and $2.00 to cut the paper. So a total of $8.37 vs $8.96 for the WalMart one.
Here's the cover:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e292/lovesdumbo/DSC07875.jpg
The inside has my address on top of Emma's photo so it could be returned fo us if we lost it. Joe took that mask photo of Emma when he was 5 with a Sony camera.

Where is that "Beat your head on the brick wall" smilie?
My mother called to ask me if I can pick up Diva Girl at the Dallas airport on May 9 because she wants to go to a Super Sweet 16 party. :headache:
WHY is this necessary? This is the exact sort of thing that feeds my sister's impression that she is 1) Elite and 2) Entitled. I asked my mom what Diva Girl will be giving up in order to help pay for the plane ticket. Like maybe her EVERY DAY fast food habit? Mom was outraged at the notion! Of course she isn't giving up ANYTHING because she didn't get to have a sweet 16 party of her own! Right. How dense of me to miss that.
So I am supposed to go to the airport in the middle of a work day to pick her up and get her to this birthday party. The party starts at 7 PM so she HAS to miss school and HAS to interrupt my work day or she will be late. Perfect.
As soon as I started to protest my mother said she would get my other sister to pick her up. My other sister lives about 120 miles from that airport. But Mother likes to threaten to get the other sister to do things I won't in an attempt to force me into doing them. This really is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! Oh, wait. No, the stupidest thing I have ever heard is that Mother might just burn her last personal day, RESCHEDULE her oncology follow-up :scared1: , rent a car and DRIVE down here for the party! :headache: WHY is this even on the table as an option?! :headache:
I told my mother if she will put my sister in counseling I will buy the plane ticket, but there is no dropping out of counseling after the ticket is paid for. I better just go ahead and acknowledge that there will be no counseling whether I buy the ticket or not. :sad2:
The whole thing is just silly. She does NOT need to fly down here to go to a party for a girl she hasn't seen in 2 years! But I am sure she will anyway.

I have no clue what to do about my mother. My Dr. said I need to do as much as it takes for me to back away with a clear conscience. She doesn't want me to abandon my mother, she wants me to turn ownership of the decisions over to my mother and just be an observer. But that's not the way I roll.
Let's see how I can say this, Elizabeth, and not have it come across in a way I don't intend. Your Dr. is right. Sometimes you have to let the other person do the rolling, no matter what the outcome. It is one of the hardest things we adults still have to learn. And for some reason it usually occurs when the "child becomes father to the man."

But I am sure she will anyway.Elizabeth - I know this is frustrating for you, but slowly try to back away from the control. You cannot change the way your mother is parenting (or not parenting) your sister. Just try to  and accept it. You ARE beating your head against a brick wall trying to reason with her.

I think what I am dealing with is not a new cold, but allergies! I have not had problems with this since the early 1980s! But what appear to be cold symptoms come and go during the day and night and are not progressing into what I would consider to be a cold. :confused3
So I started taking Claritin (not Claritin-D) this morning and am going to take Nyquil to sleep since there don't appear to be any drug interactions.
I hope everyone has a good evening. I will check back in tomorrow morning. Sleep tight! :goodvibes

:sad2:
I sat in on his appointment and he did very well. He paid pretty good attention (for a 5 year old) and he answered all of her questions. The appointment took about an hour. She now has to score the test to see where he falls. Her "gut" says that he will qualify for state funded therapy. She did say that if he doesn't qualify for the state program she can get him into a private pay program as she agrees that he is very difficult to understand. I did some translation today for her, but some things I didn't understand either. Best case scenerio he will start a program soon, state funded. Otherwise I think we will get him started on our own as I want him to be comfortable in Kindergarten.
Thanks!
I might be mistaken...but I think you can activate an AP at Downtown Disney. That would be the easiest to get in and out of and you could get a fun snack while you were there. The ticket window to Pleasure Island is very easily to get to. Someone else may know for sure or you may be able to call WDW and ask.

Joe took that mask photo of Emma when he was 5 with a Sony camera.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e292/lovesdumbo/DSC07876.jpg
and the back:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e292/lovesdumbo/DSC07877.jpg
The inside of the back looks simular to the back but with different photos.
I like it. I'm glad you made one. Now I know where to go to get our Epcot passports bound, provided I find time to print them between now and our trip

Nick's room is looking much better. I managed to get some touchup done in the couple of hours that I was home today. The walls are touched up and the ceiling too. I still need to paint the trim around the door, otherwise the trim is done. We have his bed in place and the big furniture is in place, but the drawers are still sitting in the living room. I also need to get a low bookcase to replace a tall one that I took out. This will also act as his TV stand. I put up new Navy blue curtains, but I'm not sure I like the navy against the wall color. It is growing on me though. Maybe I'll try to post a few pictures tomorrow and get your opinions. I haven't taken any pictures of that room yet.

I bought some more tee's at TDS yesterday for me. One is a very loud lime green with Tink on it, another with Eeyore in purple, & a white with vintage Minnie. I love the Minnie one. Eeyore is really not my thing (he's Sophie's favorite character) but I needed new shirts so I just got it. The Tink one is also not my thing because I like to wear black or a "quieter" color but the fit is nice & I do like Tink & hey I am on vacation so why not!:rotfl:
Dana & the kids are all packed & so are our toiletries (except for our hairbrushes & toothbrushes). I am not packed yet!:scared:

Let's see how I can say this, Elizabeth, and not have it come across in a way I don't intend. Your Dr. is right. Sometimes you have to let the other person do the rolling, no matter what the outcome. It is one of the hardest things we adults still have to learn. And for some reason it usually occurs when the "child becomes father to the man."
I know. BUT...My cousin and I were talking about it, and we are both in sort of the same spot. We WISH we could just let our mothers make thier own choices, but we stand to take a HUGE hit by each of us inheriting a sister. Her sister has spina bifida as well as developmental delays and her mom has NOTHING in place for her as far as a care plan. So my cousin would have to sort that out if something happened to her mom. Her mom refuses to make arrangements. My sister isn't disabled, but it would be a very major lifestyle change to incorporate her into our family. So I kind of feel like I really need to closely monitor what goes on so she doesn't land in my lap unexpectedly.
Elizabeth - I know this is frustrating for you, but slowly try to back away from the control. You cannot change the way your mother is parenting (or not parenting) your sister. Just try to  and accept it. You ARE beating your head against a brick wall trying to reason with her.

Hunter absolutely loves his room. He keeps thanking me for doing it  Nick says that he likes the color and has helped with furniture placement, but he is often hard to read :confused3 I need to get a low bookcase and he wants a beanbag chair and a lava light. I'm hoping to get rid of a few things that he has held onto, but never uses or looks at, like a drawer of rocks. That will give me room to place other things. We are not putting his desk back in the room as he never sits at it and he had too much furniture for his new placement. I'll take a few pictures of the unfinished room in a minute. Still can't decide if I like the curtains or not. I also need to come up with tie backs
Thank you all for the compliments:hug:
Hunter forgot his shoes so I need to run those to him soon, I'll run errands from there.
The lady that tested Colby yesterday called a minute ago and wants to set up an appointment to go over his results. She wants to do it at our Elementary School so I'll take that as a good sign that he will be getting therapy. Since he starts school in Aug, the school would work with him beginning in June (more likely after our trip in July)

I'm glad Colby is getting the help that he needs.
I had another night where Nicholas woke up with stomach pains and then vomited. That was around midnight and has been ok since. He is still complaining that his stomach hurts. I have no idea what is going on. He isn't 'sick' as there are no other symptoms. Yesterday when I picked him up after school his stomach seemed to be distended and when I asked about it he told me he had been drinking lots of water. Then he played outside all evening, and ate a regular meal. But before bed he complained of pain. When he woke up his stomach was hard and he was doubled over in pain. After he emptied he seemed to be comfortable. I have been taking off so much work lately, so Bob was able to take today off and come over and stay with him. They only have a half day today and tomorrow is a teacher workday. I think I'm going to call his dr. and see what the nurse there says.

Hi, everyone! I'm just checking in so you don't think I've fallen off the face of the earth! Things here are hectic and I won't have time to really come back to the list until Thursday of next week. My mom is staying with us and we're having a bunch of fun! We leave on Saturday to take her home, and to take our kids on a long overdue Spring Break trip to explore the national parks in our state. We haven't done this since Katie was 18 months, so really none of the kids have seen them. Should be fun!
One sad note: My dog, Cozy, who was my first "child" passed away on Sunday morning. She was 11 years old, but our vet didn't expect her to live past 3 years, so we got a lot of time with her. We knew she was not feeling well on Friday and Saturday, but went downhill really quickly. She died in Katie's arms, and we buried her underneath our cherry tree in the backyard. It's been really hard on the kids, but it turned into a beautiful teaching moment.
I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with you all this week. I've been thinking about you all and keeping you in my prayers! If there's anything urgent I need to know, would someone PM me? I'll try to check that at least once a day. Thanks. Have a great week, everybody!

A couple of other random things...
I talked to Joe yesterday and he finally got the police report from the accident. The accident was not his fault!! :cool1: :cool1: Some lady ran a red light and hit him. The police report also states that he could not remember what had happened and that he had a strong alcohol smell. He had in his car about 8 bottles of champagne and vodka that were left from the catering job. They all busted in the accident, so I can only imagine what he smelled liked!
We have not heard an update from my SIL and BIL about how he is faring. It's kind of worrisome. SIL will be in Colorado next week for work and my FIL is flying out there to visit with her. Hopefully we will get an update. We have not talked to them in a while, the time difference sucks. We always remember when it's too late to call.
And does anyone happen to want any World's Finest Chocolate? ;) I signed up for 4 boxes for Mo to sell and then forgot to have my sister pick them up when she got Mo. I need to sell 400 by next Thursday:scared1: I cannot buy $200 worth of chocolate!

I like the second one too... it is on Disney Dining Card we got last year for our stay at the AKL in October. That was a great deal and the card is a very nice keepsake. :)

Morning DDA!!
I didn't have a chance yesterday to get on the computer and DIS. I've managed to catch up but you all are chatty!
Elizabeth- I am glad that your mom's bone scan and CT were clear. :wizard: for you to get through this. I think a counselor would be a great idea.
Tammi- Bob really is a great guy! I sure hope the Dr can give you some answers.
Theresa- I am so sorry that Cassidy is giving you fit.'s
Anne Marie- Wow, your trip is so close.
Bernadette- The book looks awesome!
Tia- Good luck with nanny job. Sounds like it could be a good opportunity.
Marci- I hope your allergies don't give you too much trouble. Glad you were spared from the storms.
Elin- Hope you're feeling better.
Deb- Love, Love, Love Hunter's room!!! Can't wait to see Nick's room. I am glad that Colby seems to be headed in the direction to get the help he needs.
Chanon- Your new avatar is awesome!
Becky- I am sorry that life is so stressful.
Thanks for the dittoable post, Robyn!
And no, I don't need any chocolate. I am going to stick to the story that it would melt by the time it made it to me in Texas! ;)
I'm so sorry, Glynis, to hear about Cosy.
I hope you enjoy the rest of the time with your mom, and your upcoming trip!
Sorry I've been posting so sporadically-
Meant to say yesterday, Theresa - I'm so sorry you've had difficulty with Cassi - I hope things are on the mend at this point.

Marci and Elizabeth - glad to hear you guys fared okay in the storms this morning. Unfortunately, it was absolutely horrible in my neck of the woods, but somehow we ourselves were spared any damage to our house or property. Our neighbors lost some large trees, and since we're right near a park, there were some HUGE trees that went down there and into our subdivision. How in the world all those trees managed to not land on power lines or homes is a true miracle. I have never seen weather like that - I am positively terrifed of tornadoes, and that's the closest I ever care to be to anything like it. Up near our house they clocked winds at 87 mph! :scared1: So, my day started by bolting out of bed at 4 a.m., and unfortunately hasn't improved much since.
After sitting through some meaningless meetings all morning, I need to see if I can now get some actual work done. Have good days, DDA! :wizard:

Can someone with an AP do me a favor and check what is available for the night of April 25th? We are driving down early, and I need to book somewhere for the one night. Thanks!
