Denise, enjoy your lunch today! :)

My mom goes to the oncologist today at 3:15.

Ditto to Denise! Have a great lunch!

Elizabeth - I'll pray for your mom. Hopefully, you'll all get some answers and be able to start making the decisions that you need to make.

Lindsay - Sorry you got stuck playing Tour Guide Barbie this week!

very well put, Elizabeth, so I am copying you!

I also think it is an excellent idea to check in with the oncologist. He might as well know there is a support system in place he needs to communicate with! And you will get the definitive answers that way too. Good luck.

I did it. I broke down and bought tickets to see Hairspray in DC. This will be Alyssa's bday gift from Bob and I, since her bday is 10 days later.

That should be fun!
I bought tickets to "Cats" for DS and me. I almost had a heart attack last night thinking the musical was the weekend I booked plane ressies.:scared1: Luckily it is the weekend after.

I want to be sure that this hospital is going to be a good choice, because the other hospital seems to have a larger cancer center. The other hospital also has a female oncologist who specializes in breast cancer, so I might be pushing Mom ro meet with her before she makes any concrete decisions. I aksed her why they referred her to this guy she is seeing today and she said her primary care Dr. is affiliated with this hospital. I don't think that really matters, though. I don't think the primary care Dr. is going to have much involvement here, so she needs to go where the oncology services are best.

I got DS's suitcase packed, now I need to work on mine.

What day night did you get ticket's for? I may consider taking Emma. We love the movie & soundtrack too! I think Molly would enjoy it but she I don't know if she'd sit still the whole show with out bugging the crap out of me!

Hi everyone!

Glynis - Sorry about the whacky MIL. Good luck in whatever you and Alan decide to do.

Elizabeth - :wizard: for your mom today.

Robyn - Did you see that Hairspray is coming to the Warner Theater in 2 weeks! I'm so tempted to take the kids. We saw the movie in the theater and Alyssa loves the soundtrack.

Molly had a dental appointment this morning to fill 2 cavities. Well they filled 5. :scared1: My sister took the girls on March 3rd. She came home that day and said Molly had 2 and Emma had a tiny one that they didn't recommend filling unless it started bothering her. Eric called back to the office and asked them why there was a huge discrepancy. The receptionist checked Mo's chart and said "No, there were 5." I can't see how my sister could have confused 2 and five, they don't sound alike at all :confused3

Hi everyone!

Quick question: What time should Bob and I schedule our transfers to Disney from Universal for? We are at Disney from 10/12, 13 and leave 9am on the 14th. The 12th is EMH evening for MK, the 13th is MNSSHP. We'd like to fit in EPCOT too. And we have meals to plan around - Bob wants Crystal Palace which I thought the best day to do that was the 12th for breakfast until I realized it's an EMH evening, and I might drop 1900 Park Fare for the 13th for another place since we want to do EPCOT...and dinners are Yachtsman (on the 12th) and Artist Point (on the 13th) and Artist Point has to be pretty early because of MNSSHP...
...and I'm rambling because I can't think this hard. :scared: Help!

OK I calmed down some in those few minutes of venting. I just switched days around for the parks...No matter what, it'll be a busy weekend because of Columbus Day.

October 12th:
Leave Universal. (Still don't know what time.)
Check in at resort.
Possible Segway tour?
Early lunch at Garden Grill (even though I'd love to eat at 1900 Park Fare but I think the travel time back and forth would kill too much time.)
Visit EPCOT. Bob has yet to ride Soarin'.
Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner around 7 or 8pm.

October 13th:
Crystal Palace breakfast before park opening.
Visit MK.
Take a break in afternoon before...
Dinner at Artist Point around 5:30pm.
Back to MK for MNSSHP tonight until midnight.

October 14th:
Leave at 9am to go home. :sad1:

(Universal Studios is so much easier to plan for!)

Eric said she did really well. She hasn't complained but is sleeping now. She never naps any longer.

I still can't understand the 2 to 5 difference! It's really bugging me. Not to mention that each tooth was $124. Thank goodness we have insurance because that covered $398 of the $620 bill. But I think we will be switching dentists.

Prayers please! Just got a call, and one of my student's dads got really sick over the weekend, has been diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia), in in the ICU, has a 40% chance to live, and is going to be in the hospital a month at least. The mom is 12 weeks pregnant with twins and then has the little girl (age 2) in my class. Very tough situation.

Robyn - Yikes! Poor Molly! That does seem odd that they would say "2" and mean "5". And then not to confirm it with Eric that they were filling all 5 seems odd. DS has only had one cavity so far, but I bet when those braces come off we'll have some work to do.:scared:

Elizabeth...

when my mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer it was extremely difficulty for me.....you are going to be going through some emotional highs and lows of your own. Give yourself some time to digest....unless you have gone through having a love one diagnosed or die from cancer...it is truly hard to explain all the feelings.

Even after going through things with my mom...I was no more prepared for losing my father to lung cancer....I cry for him to this day.

I was thinking this afternoon that if my enemies really wanted to get to me they would wish for something horrible to happen to my mother, DH, or DS. If it was me with cancer I would just march right in and deal with it - that's what I do, I deal. I tend to react to things with anger more often than sadness, but not this time.

My grandfather & my aunt both died from colon cancer. I was only 7 when Grandpa died. I was sad to lose my aunt but I wasn't devastated. Because my family is so dysfunctional it is pretty hard to get me in a twist over somebody being ill. But this is my mommy. No matter how old you are, I think anybody losing their mom is the absolute worst thing in the world.

 We'll all pray that you won't have to experience that loss for many years to come, chances are very good that you won't. One of the things that I am most grateful for is the last conversation I had with Mom I told her I loved her and her response was I love you too. Soon after that she was no longer able to speak.

Still no word from her. But I keep telling myself that maybe the oncologist was running behind, maybe he sent her for more diagnostics and she isn't finished, etc. It is 2 hours past her scheduled appt. so it hasn't been THAT long if you measure it in "doctor minutes".

I'll give her another hour and then I will call her.

I agree with this! My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but came through it just fine. My FIL (who I loved dearly) died of prostate cancer.

My mother, just 3 years ago, was diagnosed with uterine cancer. That was terrifying to me. I was with her every step of the way, from the diagnosis, through surgery, through radiation. She seems to be fine, now, but I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The worst was watching my favorite aunt go through melanoma. It was horrible, and she deteriorated so rapidly.

We are here for you, Elizabeth. Come here to vent, scream, cry, anything. With all of our different experiences, there will always be someone who can help you through the whole thing.

So who have you all purchased travel insurance from? I am starting to think it might be a wise purchase for August, but I am not sure who to go through or what sort of coverage I need. Trip interruption, obviously, but I need to know if it is worth buying the insurance or just absorbing the cost for cancelling whatever through WDW.

I know on room-only if we cancel less than 6 days out we lose one night's cost. On packages closer than 45 days I think it is a $200 cancellation fee. On airfare it is $50 to change a flight PLUS the difference in fare if the ticket has increased in price. Is there insurance that covers these things?

i am being so sneaky. i know i showed y'all the racetrack litter. well i wanna know who im getting. its kinda fun trying to figure out who i might get especially having a puppy raiser egging it on. :lmao: i called today to see if they got my application and they did. i then asked Michelle(trainer) what the possibility of me getting another female was and she said at the moment she wasn't sure who i was going to get but if i was set on a female i would probably have to wait till the fall. i told her i kinda had things rolling to go in july and i really didn't care male or female but i did want a yellow lab. so she will call me back next month to talk more. she also said that they have a litter coming in at the end of this month and then the dogs that are in prison right now so she will have a few to look at for me after talking to see what i want it to do. so i guess now i am back at square one saying it instead of she.

I couldn't stand the wait so I called my mom.

She has invasive lobular cancer which is growing very slowly. They are going to give her an oral med (she said the name of it but I have never heard of it before) to shrink the tumor. This med is NOT chemo so she shouldn't lose her hair or have horrible side effects. After that she will have surgery.

She will go next week for a CT and a bone scan to see if it has spread to her brain, bones, or liver.

She was in line at the deli at WalMart so she said she will call me when she gets home.

So far, my family has been spared cancer's wicked hand. However, I had a elderly neighbor that was like a grandpa to me when I was in high school. I watched cancer ravage his body so that he got so tiny that his wife could pick him up and transfer him from his bed to his wheel chair. It was so sad. On graduation day, I went down to see him in my graduation gown since by then he was too ill to attend the cerermony.

Cancer is definitely a wicked, wicked thing. I'm always so happy when I hear someone beat it back!

Absolutely--such a sad situation1

Evening everyone!

Elizabeth I will echo what Kristine has said. I lost my father & my mother to cancer & not a day goes by that I don't worry about it. Your comment here, really tugged at my heart:

But this is my mommy. No matter how old you are, I think anybody losing their mom is the absolute worst thing in the world.

This statement is so true. Sounds like your mother received some good news today, I will keep her in my prayers. If you ever need to talk or just a shoulder to lean on, I am here & I mean this.

Denise prayers for your students father, I hope he pulls through :wizard:

:sad1:

(Universal Studios is so much easier to plan for!)

looks good to me! :thumbsup2

Robyn - I didn't respond this morning because there was something "tickling" the back of my mine that I just couldn't put my finger on. While I was teaching this afternoon I remembered! A couple of years ago Kristin came out of the dentist's office telling me she had 3 cavities that needed to be filled. I talked to the office staff and they said "three surfaces" needed to be taken care of. Those three surfaces had a total of SEVEN tiny cavities. And we had to pay for all 7. I wonder if that is what happened at the office when your ?sister? took her?

Elizabeth - things sound better tonight since you talked to your Mom. I hope when you get there this weekend and you are armed with even more information that you find that you can be even more hopeful than you are now.

For those of you who have been part of the DDA for a long time now, and also those of you who are newer friends.... I want to once again say thank you for all the support that we all seem to give one another. I have had this love first-hand. It is why we are all still here and sisters (Tom and Chris... and any other of our men... you can be sisters too, in this).

Your love and caring two years ago when my Mom died meant more than I can every tell or repay. I wish I had known you all 15 years ago too. You are amazing women.

Thanks so much for all of your good thoughts and prayers! You are the friends I depend on almost more than my "real life" friends. I am so incredibly lucky to have you in my life! :goodvibes

I am sad that so many of us have endured losses, but I am so glad we have each other to lean on!

My mom did finally call me back tonight. I took my phone outside at the restaurant so I could hear her. She said the oncologist thinks the cancer is "early" but he did not put a grade or stage on it yet. They hope to do her surgery at the end of May or beginning of June. Depending on how small they can get the tumor she may be able to have a lumpectomy, but then she would have to have radiation afterwards. With the mastectomy she wouldn't need radiation. She won't be doing chemo now (pre-op) but she can't remember what he said about post-op chemo. She would stay on the same oral med after her surgery. The big hurdle is getting through the tests next week to determine if the cancer has spread. She goes in for those on Tuesday - not sure how long it takes for results. If it hasn't spread then the Mayo Clinic website says the outcome is generally better than invasive ductal carcinoma which is much more common.

She said she likes the oncologist and she feels comfortable with him, so that's good. He told her she will not die from breast cancer. I hope he is right about that, and I hope the cancer is contained to the breast. She did let her sister come to the appointment with her, and her sister is listed along with me and my sisters as someone they can release info to. All of that is good, too. I asked her what my middle sister had to say about it. Mom said my sister said "Oh." This is why I need to be in charge if my mom can't make her own medical decisions.

So now we begin another week of waiting, and hoping that the CT and bone scan are clear!

Elin - I didn't realize you had lost your mom so recently.

That's one I have heard of. My mom's med is Arimidex. The ladies on Tamoxifen seem to be pre-menopausal. (At least the ones here on the DIS.) This drug is for post-menopausal women, but I think the idea is the same. Her booklet does say she may be on it for 5 years after her surgery. :)

That sounds like great news considering what she could have been told. I'm sending prayers for the bone scan results. That was always a very hard time each time Mom went for one. She went every year or so after her cancer, as it made her feel better to know it hadn't metastasized to somewhere else. We were all very anxious each time, considering how big her tumors were and that it was in both breasts. Another incredibly anxious time was the agonizing wait for the test results on her lymph nodes after her double mastectomy. Hang in there my friend!

I wholeheartedly agree! I've many times said that there aren't words grand enough for the support here. In fact, the difference is very visible between my grief recovery and my sister's. Of course, everyone is different, but I have a huge support system here and through my Church, and Jen didn't have either of these to help, though I'm happy to say she has started to strengthen her Faith.

We're gearing up for possible severe thunderstorms here today, so take care Elizabeth and Lindsay!

I'm happy to say that I've lost a couple of the pounds I've gained since January, so that's good news. I have 5 more to go to get to my weight after Mom passed, and that seemed like a good weight to try to maintain, though I could stand to lose five more than that. It's going to be difficult as we have so much sports and other activities over the next two months that we will be grabbing food on the run. My biggest problem has been snacking, especially when I get home. Yesterday, I grabbed a bottle of water and some fruit at Starbucks for the drive home (we were running an errand for my SIL and it was next door), and that seemed to work well. I need to get to the store and make sure to have plenty of both at work so I'm prepared to fight the munchies. For dinners, I'm going to try more of the crockpot recipes on the WFD thread.

Have a great day everyone! :)

I did read that the type of cancer my mom has is more common to have in both breasts, so I guess her oncologist will determine what to do about that. I will call my Dr. this morning and see what she has to say about it. I don't think this type is hereditary so she may not be too worried about my risk. :confused3

Good morning, DDA!

Elin - Thanks for the early morning tears. I'm so thankful for each and every one of you. :goodvibes:

Elizabeth - Sounds like lots of good info. The medication name sounds familiar to me too. I think that is what my grandma took and it was very successful for her. Like your mom she took it pre-op and they ended up just doing a lumpectomy. Continued thoughts and prayers always. :grouphug:

Marci - Congrats on the loss! You're doing great. I've started packing Terra's lunchbox whenever we're out for awhile so that we both have healthy snacks. The granola bar, fruit, cheese sticks etc help eliminate more than a few drive through stops for a snack. I also used to keep several bottles of water in my trunk so that it was always available too. Of course, in the height of CA summers it wasn't always the coolest, but it wasn't bad either. ;)

Tammi - Alyssa will love the show! And dressing up too, she'll be in heaven, won't she. :cloud9: I would love to see Hairspray on stage.

Marci - keep a small cooler in your car and stock it up with cheese sticks, cut up carrots and celery sticks. I also like to keep some dill pickles in there, too. A big blanket of pixie dust for all of you today! The sun is shining here so I can't be too gloomy! However, I am still angry with my MIL. I was planning on doing a 40th birthday party for Alan this weekend, nothing big, just siblings and friends at a restaurant. However, his mother wants to bring her new man! I absolutely will not do that. She will take over the whole event and make it an engagement party for herself, and will push Alan out of the picture. Not going to happen! So, I'm postponing Alan's party until next week when the new guy will have left for his own home town. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I really have some not nice things to say to that woman!

Oh, by the way, I got a phone call from one of her other "cyber boyfriends." Apparently, she hasn't told any of the others (and yes, there are quite a few) that she is engaged. When this guy hadn't heard from her, he looked up MY PHONE NUMBER and called to see if she is ok. I'm beyond livid about it! How dare she give out my families personal information to a bunch of strangers!

When we only have two days - it's looking like all we will be doing is eating. And eating some more. And eating again. :rotfl:

So now I'm thinking about mentioning to Bob about dropping both breakfasts and just doing the two nice dinners. We could eat at the F&WF for brunch on the 12th, and just eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast (if we arn't full from the night before still) and save almost $20 compared to eating at Crystal Palace. Unless he really wants to eat at CP - then maybe I'll double book. If Bob's upset about the Tigger issue, we can wait in line in Toontown to see him there. (Are Pooh and Friends there?)

you may want to email the chick who runs the program....I like her....you can also email some photos and they will make a personalized menu

I COULD, but I feel like a dork doing that for my OWN birthday.

yes...it was from BW bakery...I am pretty sure they will deliver to FF. If you want smaller cake....call and ask for Chef Kelly. She will do one with custard whip cream strawberries etc in a smaller size

I don't know what size i want. But I want one just like yours!

Elizabeth - sounds like things are looking up for your mom! We'll continue with the prayers. Please let us know when the test results are back.

Thanks, Glynis!
I would tell Alan and the other siblings about her handing out your info because that is really, really dangerous! What if one of them is a psycho? :scared1: I would be cutting off her internet service!

Still have to figure out what time to transfer from Universal...I guess the one good thing is that there won't be a strong rush hour on Columbus Day!

prayers and pixie dust here please....Abi is in the throws off an asthma attack, and I just got guff from a nurse for leaving her in her sister's capable hands for 10 minutes between my dropping her off and Jim coming home. :headache:

ETA: okay now that I have had time to calm down.....Abi had a very mild asthma attack and didn't have a rescue inhaler at school. So I went to pick her up...in the car....her breathing normalized and only started shortening as we walked up for her to get in the house. I knew Jim would be home in 10 minutes and I sent Abi into the shower to cool down. Gave Cassidy instructions and came back to work..a minute away...to call the dr's office. Nurse got me riled up. It was a mild attack and if she had had ANY stronger symptoms I would have called 911. I have dealt with asthma attacks...I know what I am doing and I know my kid....ARRRGH.

UP Disney
04-03-2008, 08:27 PM
Elizabeth - sounds like things are looking up for your mom! We'll continue with the prayers. Please let us know when the test results are back.

Marci - keep a small cooler in your car and stock it up with cheese sticks, cut up carrots and celery sticks. I also like to keep some dill pickles in there, too. I keep bottles of water and small "on the go" packets of Crystal Light in my car as well. All these things help me keep the "travel munchies" at bay!

Amy - I can't believe that Kevin didn't take pictures of the "baking frenzy". Are you holding out on us? I hope things calm down for you some, today!

This is just crazy. It is one thing to share your own personal info but to share others is just WRONG! That is why I'm so careful not to say the names of my sister, niece, nephew & mother. I also try not to share too much of their personal lives for the same reason.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this Glynis!

Hi all! I'm sorry I have been terrible about keeping up. I have been reading many days, but run out of steam (physically and emotionally) before I can properly respond. Things are progressing well, work is busy as usual... I feel like a broken record ;) As my doctor put it, all the problems with this pregnancy are with mom -- the girls are both doing just fine. I suppose I can handle that :goodvibes

I'm sorry to just skim over most things, but I have been thinking of you all! Elizabeth, please know that you and your family continue to be in my prayers!

Please take care of yourselves, and PM me if you need anything before I can be around more! I will eventually get back with you, even if it takes a while (Amy :rolleyes1 )

Goodnight ladies!

Prayers & pixiedust: to help you through this Jennifer. This too shall pass!!!

Tonight I look like someone punched me in the eye. I've had these raised bumps on my face that I guess are called millium. I've had them for several years. My mom has been after me to hae a dermatologist look at them so I had them removed today. It sounds gross but the poke a needle in the middle of them and pop them like a blackhead! I had at least 20 of them with some very small ones forming. She told me I would look bruised for a few days.
I hope the bruising goes away quickly. I'm glad you had it taken care of though.

The kids like him....now they want to start a gnome collection  so for right now we compromised and ordered "George the mini gnome" he can travel with us and I told them hey can take pictures of him at different places....I guess you would say he's a "PAL GNOME" :rotfl:

Oh, that is too cute. Where did he come to you from?

Kristine- How much was the Mickey Gnome, and how much was it to get it shipped?

I would love a Mickey Gnome:rolleyes1 Not like I really need one, but would love to have one. Although it may be a desk gnome instead of a garden mickey gnome.

Also you can find trunks/treasure chests at Michael's/AC Moore? JoAnns in a variety of sizes. For the most part they are not finished, so that might no be the best idea for you, as I do not want you to become colored again.;)

Don't get too chatty on me tonight, ok? I'm leaving in a few minutes to go to book club. We are discussing "Water for Elephants". This is a fabulous book! I loved it and can't wait to find out what the other ladies thought. There is a lot of sex in it, though, and a couple of our members are pretty conservative! Should be interesting!
LOVED this book too! And I didn't think there was alot of sex...I'd say burlesque would be a better word for it. Let me know what you guys discussed! (I love books that leave you thinking!)

Yep! But we don't arrive until the 12th. And some of these food places aren't the greatest, so we wouldn't be eating at a majority of them anyways. There's only three places I like to eat at in the parks at UNI and they aren't on the free dining list.
All this means to me is Festival of the Lion King. :rotfl2:

They have pins with other Disney Gnomes (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/search/results?keywords=gnome) on them. But I do not think they have the actual gnome statues of the other characters.

That is horrible. We will add him to our prayers.

I get those too, but I just take a needle and pick at them until I get the center out. I didn't realize that I was doing a medical procedure though :thumbsup2

I'm sorry that I've been MIA the last few days. This week has been H E L L

Tuesday was the bus incident. It appears that 2 kids have been suspended as a result. Today I brought a box of chocolates out to the bus driver to Thank him for looking out for my kids. He was shocked, but I wanted him to know that we were thankful that he dealt appropriately with the situation. I also hope that it keeps him motivated to continue to do so.

Yesterday I stopped by Best Buy to check on the status of a TV that I had brought in for potential repair. I paid $35 to have them ship it to a repair center to be diagnoses. They were to call to let me know what was wrong and to give the a repair cost. The initial paperwork gave an estimate of $64 I hadn't heard anything so I stopped in last week and they were going to look into it and contact me, but still nothing. Yesterday they pull it up and tell me that it has been fixed and that I owe an additional $140 :scared1: I did not authorize the repair and certainly would not have. It is a 3 year old TV and I'd rather put that $140 into buying a new one with a warranty. I still have no idea what they plan to do about it as the tv did work (though poorly) before I dropped it off.

This morning I got up with high expectation of getting a lot done on Nick's room. I started by heading into Hunter's room to hang the closet doors. I inadvertedly put my hand on his desk only to leave a huge void. His entire room was covered in a white dust. I thought that my mother must have sanded while I was at work (which I had told her NOT to do). I started cleaning his room (which was completely brand spanken new on Monday. Then I noticed the dust on all of our electronics in the living room. After 4 hours of cleaning I was in tears as I felt like I had been set back by DAYS not just hours. I called my mother (crying no less) and she swore that she hadn't sanded, but she would come down to help me clean. As I went back into Nick's room I picked up a hammer that was speckled with white paint and the dust. Well I had used the hammer before work yesterday which meant the dust occurred last night. It turns out that Chris had used our new paint sprayer to pain the doors and it had created a white vapor that travelled throughout the house leaving a white dust. Thankfully it comes off by dusting, but what a mess. And to make matters worse the paint gun had left the door all blotchy so I had to hand paint them anyway. So now I am way behind schedule and totally stressed out. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

I hope she had a great day. Good luck with all of the parties!

Elizabeth -- safe travels and have a great visit. I hope your flight is on time.

I'm going to make cupcakes tonight for my brother's 40th birthday on Sunday. We have a baseball tournament this weekend for the select team that Andrew and my nephew are on, and Tres is one of the coaches, so we'll celebrate with the team. I also need to make peanut butter balls tonight to take for the tournament tomorrow. A good source of protein between games and the team loved them when I made them last weekend.

We've had thunderstorms and rain overnight (and it's still sprinkling) so the baseball game Jake has tonight may be rained out. Both boys have soccer games tomorrow, Andrew has that tournament 1 1/4 hours away, and Jake has a birthday party to attend.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

It was so much fun reading a book to Alyssa's class, but I definitely made the right decision in teaching high school, not preschoolers. :rotfl:

During naptime, I frosted Alyssa's small butterfly birthday cake, and when the kiddos woke up, we went to McDonald's for dinner (nothing like a 4-year-old choosing the meal ;) ). Then it was back home for cake, presents, bathtime, and lots of phone calls from family members. A great day. :cloud9:

Today, we need to hit Kroger for the last of the party groceries. I still need to put the final touches on the games, do some spot-cleaning, hang up the streamers, and of course, frost (24 cupcakes and three cakes to go!).

Have a great day DDA. :wizard: and :grouphug: to all.

Elizabeth, I hope you have a noneventful and safe flight.

Deb, I hope it's a much better day. You're going out of town for the weekend, right (bowling, I think?).

Take care everyone!
Amy :)

Good morning, DDA. So far it's a dreary morning here today, but we're supposed to get some sun later, if not warmth.

I think I might be losing it today - first I heard talking in the car, though the radio wasn't on; then I was in the bathroom and kept hearing something like a small child calling out for someone, but Terra's still asleep; now I'm hearing loud bird sounds like they are in the house, but can't figure out where they're coming from. Maybe I need to go back to bed!

Robyn, have fun watching the NKOTB interview. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about heartthrobs pushing 40. I like to catch up on celebrity gossip on TMZ, and I saw a "Guess the Celebuspawn" picture that looked like just like Ricky Schroder. Yep, it was his 17-year-old son, Luke! :rotfl:

OMG, he has a 17 year old! That is too much!

I still think that I am in love with Jonathan.

It was hard to hear. I think they all look great ( but Danny scares me a little!) but Jonathan has always been my favorite. I am honestly surprised to see him there. He had a nervous breakdown and suffers from panic attacks.

I've marked my calendar!

Vicki,
Hope you heal fast. I want pictures of the new corvette when you buy it!:lmao: ;)

Chanon,
I know, I know!! My kids will definately want to stray from Disneyworld to go to the Harry Potter park.

Deb,
So nice to see that AR was recognized!:goodvibes Is she still on the Dream Team at HS or did she move?

AR is back on the photopass team at HS. She is only working 2 days a week as the equipment is heavy and she is nearly 68 years old. She is hoping for something to come up at a Resort Front desk or Concierge, but part time positions there are rare. She is also on a list (top of the list by the sounds of it) to go back on the Dream Team, but she has to do the photopass for at least 3 months. She said that there is a possibility of a Dream Greeter position after the year of a million dreams ends and she has high hopes that she would get that job. So she has lots of irons in the fire. Hopefully something wonderful will fall into her lap soon.

I've had a wonderful morning. Colby let me sleep in, until 10:30 this morning :cool1: I can't remember the last time I slept that late. He was so cute, at 8:30 he asked me if he could crawl into bed with me and it wasn't long before he was sound asleep   When we got up we had lots of cuddle time. So I haven't touched any of my projects, but at least I'm happy.

I need to pack a bag for each of us for this weekend so that is my first priority today. I may take time to pay bills too, but that may be after I put a coat of primer on the walls. We'll have to see how motivated I get.

I put him on the kitchen scale (Bill thought I was nuts) he weighs 2 pounds, 10 ounces....15 inches tall....around 8 inches wide. (This is the statue dimensions)

It was in styrofoam...and then in a box....so for me...I can't see how you would easily pack it in luggage at all.

Our mortgage officer just called me to let me know that our loan processor was killed in a car accident this morning. She was 27 years old. That is so unimportant in the whole spectum at this point :sad1:

when I need her brainstorming? :rotfl:

Let me type this all out (so I don't inundate Chanon with this drivel!)...

We have a AAA package with discount booked for our September trip. I am looking at the possibility of having the free dining promotion available to us for that trip. So, I worked out some numbers and came up with this.

4 nights @ Polynesian (Lagoon View) at rack rate + 1 day base ticket and no dining = $2133.54 (this is what free dining would give us)

same package with DDP added = $2437.46
same package with Deluxe DDP added = $2693.46

difference we would need to pay if we were allowed to upgrade to Deluxe DDP appears to be $256

so, the free dining package w/ upgrade ought to be about $2389.46

4 nights @ Polynesian (Lagoon View) w/ AAA discount + 1 day base ticket + Deluxe Dining = $2396.50

Am I missing something here? Is is about equal? Have I missed something??

Don't forget - with "free" dining, you're paying that lovely Disney rack rate for the room. So, I'm not that surprised, with a more expensive resort/room category, that the savings aren't that significant.

That's what it looks like to me at first blush! If you do the AAA thing, then you get that 10-15% off the deluxe rate. (Can you book through AAA for free dining and get both? I seem to think not, but not sure why I think that...:confused3 )

ETA: Do you guys have AP's? If so, I'd hold out hope for the AP "room only" discount, with the ability to add on the DDP, so you don't have to factor in those 1-day base tickets (or are you upgrading those to AP's once you get there?).

Elin,

The benefit to free dining is more so when you are booked at a lower rate resort. If you were at Pop or a Mod it's more significant than the Poly. Since you are paying rack rate on deluxe free dining is not always the best way to go.
