I would be happy to, except that Sandy doesn't have any points left over. :(
I have rented points in the past with good success on the DIS board here. There is always someone there with points to rent.
Ok, thanks Elin.

Thanks everyone for all the pixie dust and hugs for Emma. She loved getting them from all of you, she enjoyed reading them. I appreciate it more than you know.
Pop Pop is one lucky man. I found out yesterday that a mini van hit from behind, he and the bike skidded and then he flew off of the bike and landed on top of a taxi cab. He literally walked away with not a scratch. He was taken to Shock Trauma because he is a Baltimore City Police officer. He was leaving work on his own bike but in uniform. It is apparently protocol. In the bed next to him was another police officer who was hit on his work bike and didn't fare quite so well. His accident wasn't quite as bad but broke his collarbone and had numerous internal injuries. Pop Pop must have one great guardian angel.

Yay for all you Dallas area DDA'ers that the hail didn't do much damage and that you all are safe.
Jen- :cool1: :cool1: on the job front!
Jennifer- I am so happy that you are holed up at Chateau Kaufman. Enjoy the rest and everything will fall into place.
Amy- I am sorry to hear about the break-ins in your area. We have had stuff taken from our van and we also had our car stolen the summer Molly was born. It was not a fun experience and it certainly leaves you scared. Hope that doctor appointment goes well!

Here is an article about the budget and the teacher situation in the county. It is slighted to the Board of Ed but at least it gets our school's name out there. We were the only school at the meeting.
Article (http://******************/a-1347670~Riviera_Beach_community_seeks_to_keep_its_ teachers.html)
My girlfriend who works in the school system thinks that it is all smoke and mirrors. She thinks that the Superintendent will make the adjustments to keep the teachers but wants the parents to fight the county council on it. Our school system is entirely funded by the county.

Well, crap. If I knew when my mom was having surgery I could book those flights.
Macy's really had some GREAT deals today! I bought DS 2 Nike T's for less than $5 each, and a Polo (a Ralph Lauren one) for less than $12! They had exactly TWO people working the Clinique counter at noon so that was an exercise in futility.:sad2: And the one girl was doing a MAKEOVER on some lady! I thought when it was gift time and REALLY busy they weren't allowed to devote all of their attention to ONE person. I think I may actually complain about it. They KNOW it is Bonus time, they KNOW the store is having a huge sale today, they KNOW lunchtime is going to be busy. Schedule more than 2 people, and make it VERY clear that there are NO makeovers. We stood there for at least 5 minutes and were never even acknowledged, let alone offered any assistance. It's not like we could just pluck our products off the shelf and go queue up to pay for them like at Target.

My mom goes to the OB/GYN next Thursday. She said yesterday she is wondering if she will have to have a hysterectomy in addition to her cancer surgery & treatment. That could get ugly, especially if she ends up needing chemo. She could be completely out of commission the entire summer. I guess we'll see what the OB/GYN has to say about it.

Amy and Kristine,
How did you like your photoshoots at the Grand Flordian. Trying to decide if we want to do this and if we want GF or the Poly
I just ripped this recipe out of a magazine at the doctor's office this morning, so obviously, I haven't tried it yet. :teeth:
Chicken Club Salad
Serves 4
Prep time: 20 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
What you'll need:
6 slices bacon
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
coarse salt and ground pepper
3 plum tomatoes, quartered lengthwise, seeded, and cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
2 celery stalks, sliced crosswise 1/4 thick
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
1 tablespoon white-wine vinegar
lettuce leaves for serving
What to do:
1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and lay bacon in a single layer. Bake until bacon begins to render its fat (about 10 minutes). Turn bacon over and slide to one side of baking sheet. Season chicken with salt and pepper and place on baking sheet. Bake until bacon is browned and crisp and chicken is cooked through (about 15-20 minutes).
2) Transfer bacon to paper-towel-lined plate and let drain, then crumble. Let chicken cool completely. Meanwhile in a large bowl, combine tomatoes, onion, celery, mayonnaise, and vinegar.
3) Cut chicken into 1/2 inch chunks and add to bowl. Season with salt and pepper and toss to coat. Serve chicken salad over lettuce leaves and sprinkle with bacon.
Sounds yummy!

Can you give me the details again? I think you have to wait until 30 days prior to your trip to book it? I really want to consider setting this up for when we are there in June. Mom pays for a grandkid photo shoot every year.
I wish that my brother and his son could be here too. We did get some nice ones at Becky's graduation last year with all mom's grandchildren. My brother signed up to stay in Japan in December 2009 now so it will be until after then until we get a picture with all of them.

i think so. thus the shorts not tights for him, just need to figure out what I will be. If I could sew then I could possibly make a light blue top to look like Wendys night gown but make it a nursing top. and light blue shorts. But that is being way to Ambitious for sewing.

Hi, everyone. I'm checking in. Won't be able to do much chatting for a few more days, but wanted to see how everyone is doing. I don't stand a chance of catching up, so could someone do a recap for me?
Just wanted to let y'all know that our niece, Carissa, who's been in and out of the hospital for the last 2 months, passed away on Sunday. It's been a really sad time, and likely to remain so for some time. She was only 22. She had Down's Syndrome, and had been aspirating her food and liquid for her entire life. I guess it's fairly common in Down's kids, and that indirectly led to her death. The family is just devastated! She was our ray of sunshine, and she will be missed. We are working on the funeral now. I've been asked to play the prelude and postlude music, plus accompany Alan in singing "Nearer My God To Thee" during the service. This is a really tough one.
The funeral will be on Tuesday morning. Wish us all luck that we can get through this. My SIL is really struggling. It's not the natural order of things to have a child die before you do.
I'm sending pixie dust to all of you! I miss chatting with you on a daily basis. Hopefully, life will calm down, soon, and I can come back home!:sad1: I'm so sorry Glynis.

Don't know if you still need one, but here is Paula Dean's.
1 1/2 pound diced chicken
1 cup chopped celery
4 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup mayo
1 tsp. lemon pepper
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 to 3 TBSP. chicken stock
Throw all in a large bowl, and mix well.
Does anyone have a good chicken salad recipe?

Bernadette I loved all the fabric you posted on the boutique threadThanks!
so I will put the photos here:
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g21/babytrees_2006/th_zoo14.jpg
Loved all your photos! That black swan reminded me of the one at AK that Emma fell in love with.
Emma could use a tiny dose of pixie dust. Her teacher was out of school the week of Easter, her grandmother died so she went home for the funeral. The weekend before she was to come back she broke her foot. Her dog and her mother's dog pulled her down the steps. So it's been weeks since she has been in school. And will likely be out until the 28th of April. It could be longer, she cannot put any weight on her foot at all. So in the meantime Emma's class has had lots of substitutes. They do have a permanent one now that was there the end of last week, this week and will be there next week.
Emma is having a hard time adjusting to the new routine and missing her teacher. She is in tears about it and has been the past few nights.Poor Emma. Hope her teacher heal quickly. Lizzy's K teacher had a broken foot at orientation in June before K started and was still in a cast well into the year. She was close to retirement and I think missed almost as many days as she was there. It was rough on Lizzy too.
I check airfare almost every day for a good rate. Hoping to find a deal so that we can get to the World soon!
Leighanna's prayers lately have included "Please help me and my family have Disney dreams, and that we can go back to Disney this year!"
:wizard: Hope you can find a great deal!
I had my sight checked today and it seems that all is well. He thinks that I need to use eye drops 3 times a day to help them stay moist. He said that will help with my distance clarity. I'm relieved that it is as simple as that. That is great!
I feel alright. My abdomen does not hurt like yesterday. Still slight dull pain, but I think it was because it hurt so much yesterday. Basically my entire body between my chest and legs hurt a lot. It was not specific just pain all over.
Today my nose was bleeding. My throat still hurts a tiny bit and I have started sneezing. For some reason I have been a medical calamity the last few days.Hope you're feeling better!
Well, I managed to get the front and a little of the back yards mowed today before running out of gas. The running out was my goal though so that was good. I got the oil drained, underside cleaned, air filter off and spark plug checked. The next step was removing the blade to prossible sharpen, probably replace, but it was not coming off for me! Finally got Dad down to help on that part and he managed to get it off finally. There was no way I was trying his method seeings as how I left the yard while he did it for fear a tool might go flying. :rotfl: The real benefit to his coming out though was that he offered to take the parts for replacements and thus he was the one paying for them, not me. ::yes:: So, now tomorrow I've got to fill the oil and finish mowing the back, then by recommendation of the local mower fixer guys, drain the oil again and put in all new. Hopefully that all means I'll have a lot let struggles with the mower this year! It also means I feel like Super Deb with my mechanical abilities. ;) Doesn't hurt that Dad shocked the life out of my by calling me this evening and telling me he was proud of me for figuring out how and doing all of that stuff on my own this morning. :yay: Now that doesn't happen very often. :cloud9:WOW! Great job!
Buttons are overrated. Just slap some velcro on there and you're good to go!:confused3
:rotfl2:
All 3 of us love EE, so Riley is more than welcome to ride with us! I can't go on it multiple times in a row or my head hurts, but it doesn't seem to bother DS. Maybe if you and Garrett each get a FP for it we can send DS and Riley back through a 2nd time. Lizzy can't ride more than once either but Joe & I did it 3 times in January.
The ultrasound is over, and I'm staying home for the night anyway :) There was nothing "too urgent", which was nice to hear. :woohoo:
We match on 3 days with Janet, and we're having breakfast at MK on 8/16 with Bernadette's family. This is good, because I don't want to spend 16 days just talking to DS & DH.:rotfl2: Actually, I talk to everyone (CM's, people in queues, people on buses, people in restaurants) so I have plenty of interaction. DS will really enjoy talking with the other kids since we never travel with anyone his age.:thumbsup2
Hello all! Well, apparently someone has been hired for the nanny position, but I'm not too terrible upset.
Elizabeth - Any thoughts on looking at Craigslist type postings or would you stick with more "professional"/placement service avenues?Good luck finding something that fits you better! Not that it is the same but.....my company uses Craigslist to list some of the professional positions openings.
Adian update:
April 17, 2008 at 05:21 PM CDT
Well we are in a room and all went pretty well. He isn't a fan of the big bandage but that comes off in the morning. Right now he is resting fairly well.
The surgery surprised the docter which is not always good. It seems Aidan has lots of bone marrow in his skull, so when they started to drill, he started to bleed and bleed he did. His body holds about 800cc and he lost 450cc. The docter told us in the 300+ surgery's he's done, he has never seen a child do this. So leave it to Aidan to cause a little trouble.
Well it all went well after that and we got to stay out of the ICU and not have to get a transfusion. He does look like a little ghost at the moment, but he's our little ghost and he's now safe.
I get to enjoy the nice plastic chair (bed) this evening and we will hopefully go home tomorrow.
Thanks for the prayers and support, we will do this all again in a few months.
Thanks for the update Janet. Continued prayers for Aidan. Thanks to Elin too. I can't believe he's already home after lossing 1/2 his blood.
I know Nicholas will enjoy seeing your DS and Janet's Riley, and whatever other boys might be around. I gets a little put off after too much time with Alyssa and Bethany.
Last night, we went to Julie's house. It was Carli's 8th birthday, and she recently made her First Communion, so I made her a cake and took over some homemade burritos for dinner. We had a great visit, but poor Julie is definitely ready for Tuesday! Please keep her in your prayers.
I don't think I've told you all this, but since this fall, we've had over 100 car break-ins in Sharonville. Our van had been rummaged through several months back (it was unlocked, which was a blessing, since they were smashing out windows of locked vehicles), but I guess Disney CDs weren't very appealing. Now it seems the thieves are getting bolder, breaking into detached garages. My FIL, who lives less than a mile away, had over $750 of tools stolen. They have finally set a reward for information, so hopefully they'll catch the culprits soon!
In other news, Matty was putting his toys in "mime out" yesterday. :rotfl:
I have a doctor's appointment this morning, so I better get moving.
I hope you all have a great day and a wonderful weekend!Prayers for Julie.
Hope they catch the thief soon.
Matty is too cute!

Lucky guy indeed!!!

Hi,
It is gorgeous and I am basically probably stuck inside all weekend to finish my paper for my class. It is due Monday.
-------------
Hillary Clinton is going to be at my High School alma mater tomorrow. So will my Mom and brother. My Mom was asked to do food at the shin dig as she works for the district and she asked my brother to help as well as other people. It is going to be nuts as there is also a track meet at the school as well. I will be paper writing, well I hope to have the motivation to paper write. I could use some good thoughts for motivation.
---------------
Next weekend is going to be crazy. Between Thursday night and Sunday night I am supposed to got to a United Way Annual dinner, attend a day long kindergarten registration, go to camp for a night, go to a baseball game overnight, go to 2 fun fairs, take my 3 hour test, attend a gold award ceremony. I think that is all but I am probably missing something.
I plan to attend the United Way dinner, the kindergarten registration, camp for the night, baseball overnight and gold award. I am trying to convince my professor to allow me to take the test some other time. It is scheduled for Saturday from noon -3pm, but that does not work. He offered me the ability to take it Sunday night from 6-9pm, that does not work that well either as I will be exhausted or not home yet. The Gold Award ceremony is until 4pm, I will probably have to help with clean up, it will take about an hour to get home. I might have to make it work though. I wanted to take it Thursday morning before the craziness began but he will not let me.
Not sure how much I should push the issue to take it at a different time. I goofed and thought the test was tomorrow, when my schedule is open. Instead it is a really busy weekend. I knew the weekend was busy but did not realize the test was falling the same weekend. I really can not make the test work during the weekend. :scared:
------------------
At work there must be a black hole somewhere that sucks lots of important things in.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
Sending good thoughts to all of you. Hope you have a great weekend.
Night all

Not sure if I will be Wendy or not
If you want an easy Peter Pan costume do this:
Buy a green turtle neck that is a few sizes to big for Jeff.
Cut the bottom off in a jagged pattern
Do the same to make short sleeves
cut a straight cut through the turtle neck part and down into the shirt creating a V neck.
Add a belt and green shorts and voila Instant Peter Pan
I did that for Nick several years ago only he had leggins as it was cold here.

That is a great idea! How about using a t-shirt?
I will be paper writing, well I hope to have the motivation to paper write. I could use some good thoughts for motivation.

I wouldn't say that it is hard, but it is tedious and time consuming.
I quit at around 6 PM as I just couldn't paint another stroke. I didn't even come close to finishing the hall, but I was so sick of it, I had to quit. Hopefully I'll be able to finish tomorrow.
We ended up installing the trim pieces in the areas that have been painted, took down the painters tape, reinstalled lights and covers etc. The area that is done looks wonderful.
My Mother and I usually have very different ideas about decorating. She likes very plain things, solid paint colors, light colors etc. When she came in today and said she loved it I nearly fell over. I had to reassess whether I really liked it or not :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :confused3

The front of the bodice will be the panel I bought-I'll need to add blue to the sides, the bodice back and ruffled elastic straps will be blue. Speaking of kids, have I told you all that his ex has picked up and moved to St. Augustine, FL. She is giving Bob custody of Bethany during the school year, and she wants her for 8 weeks in the summer. Her house here in VA was foreclosed on, so she quit her job and moved to FL with what Bob calls her "flavor of the month". Actually she has been dating this guy since the fall. I just can't believe that a mother would leave her child behind to move with her latest fling. It's pretty much a done deal, they are just working out the formalities of holiday visitations. Good for Bob, but her behavior is very sad, IMO.

 How can a mother just up and leave like that :confused3 I wonder how long it will be before she doesn't want summer visitation? Poor Bethany.

I need to get to bed too. Nicholas has an 8 AM soccer game, then I have to do some shopping. I'd like to get a new dress to wear next weekend for 1st Communion. Plus my mom has asked me to get her a bday present for Alyssa. She wants a Hannah Montana outfit and Mom is afraid to buy it for her without knowing sizes. So I've found some cut HM labeled clothes at Macy's that I'll have to go look at. Then we go to see Hairspray at 2.
Robyn, I assume since I never heard from you that you decided not to go. I'll be thinking of you and Emma!
Have a good night everyone.

It's hard to say yet. Her mom just went back to FL today so Bethany hasn't yet gone an extended amt of time without seeing her.
But yes, she will have more structure and stability with Bob, which will be important next year when she starts Kindergarten.
I know that she is probably better off with Bob, but this is going to have a major impact on her. Make sure that he keeps an eye on her and gets her counseling if there is any signs she is stressing over it.

My, my, my you were all chatty tonight!
Tammi- :wizard: for Bethany. I am sorry, you assumed right- We will not be there tomorrow, as much as I wished we were.
Becky- :wizard: to get through this weekend.
Deb- I love the walls!!
Elin- Enjoy your last concert.
:wizard: and 's to all.
Lucy and I spent the evening at my parents. I helped my mom roll up spinach balls for a wedding reception she is going to tomorrow. I ran to the party store before hand and then we made a dash to BJ's for some things. I think that I am near done with stuff for Molly's party. I did manage to fill the goody bags tonight.
Eric took Emma and Molly to the Baysox game, the farm team of the Orioles. Emma earned a free ticket from school for reading so she just had to go. Molly was free so it only cost us Eric's ticket. They are on there way home now.
Tomorrow Molly has a soccer game and then Emma and Molly are spending the night at Mo's best friend's house. Eric plans to cook our Passover turkey and I need to get Mo's cake baked and into the freezer. I also need to make the matzah ball soup along with a few other things. Emma has a soccer game on Sunday so we need to get all the stuff done tomorrow that we can.
I am off to finish cleaning up so when they get home we can get the girls to bed. Have a great weekend!!!

Tammi, hugs for Bethany. :grouphug:
Deb, RPDE is right across the street from the Poly, right beside the MK parking lot. My SIL did the rookie experience when we were staying Poly conceirge building. The shuttle picked us up right past the bus stop and whisked us across the street and around the corner. I remember telling the guy we could have walked!!
This weekend is GOTV in Pa. (get out the vote) I'm on vacation Tuesday to work the polls. My DD and I have been busy cleaning the house as we volunteered to host out of town volunteers this weekend. I just delivered 4 cases of water to headquarters. I've got to get to sleep so I can get to headquarters early. I will be working the entire weekend.

Hi everyone-
Just coming to post---I got called for an interview today!! its not with the same district, but a good district! i go on the 28th!
and with that..im off to girls night! have a great day, see you tomorrow
Congratulations! I hope lots of exciting options continue to open up for you! :wizard:
I am off for the night, so a reminder. New Disney show tonight at 9:00 pm EST
Ooh, yay! Last time I waited for Kyle, but he's on call and I'm on house arrest -- I think I'll just have to watch it twice this time! :goodvibes
For those interested, this is the link to the Behr website. It gives detailed instructions on how to do the Bellagio paint technique.
http://www.behr.com/behrx/expert/activity.jsp?aid=651&subnav=interior&leftNav=noSteps
:rotfl: I can imagine most people would be in agreement. It's been a long process, but the outcome is wonderufl!
This is what I did last night:
I also washed and ironed 9 pieces of fabric. I hope to make Emma a Buzz outfit like her Cars outfit tomorrow. It should go quickly as I've made both patterns already. An A-line top with denim shorts with Buzz cuff.
The Nemo outfit will be made from this pattern:
The front of the bodice will be the panel I bought-I'll need to add blue to the sides, the bodice back and ruffled elastic straps will be blue. The skirt of the shirt will be the Nemo fabric and I'll put a blue cuff on it too. I may make some capris too-I'll have a better idea when the top is complete.
You all make me wish I liked sewing enough to even feign interest! The finished product (and the number of options!) is so cute!
Yes, as Disney fanatics now, it is always interesting seeing the "mistakes" that are made in these shows.
::yes:: Last week, I drove Kyle nuts complaining about all the music. During Soarin', Spectro, etc they had some other fake something or other that was CLEARLY not the right music. I was so annoyed, as that's one of my favorite parts of the entire WDW experience! :rotfl:
We just pulled up some WDW maps and it looks like the speedway is between the TTC and Animal Kingdom. You drive alongside it to get to AK. Maybe the entrance is closer to MK :confused3
It is, just outside the entrance. I remember clearly having several different emotions about its location when it was just over the halfway point during the half! ;)
Yep. Didn't even tell Bethany. Bob transferred Bethany back to Mom after his visitation one weekend and she had their house cleaned out and loaded in the truck. Never even told Bethany what was going on. Lately Mom has been back and forth between FL and here, where she stays with her parents, to work out the agreements. But after this weekend I think she will be staying down there.
Oh, how terrible! :(
 How can a mother just up and leave like that :confused3 I wonder how long it will be before she doesn't want summer visitation? Poor Bethany.
I'm off to bed. Hopefully my arm will feel better in the morning. I've got a case of overuse going on.
I'm surprised you don't have a lot more aches and pains, with all you have been doing. I'm still in shock everytime I read your posts!
My in-laws are coming today, at an undisclosed time, for an undisclosed amount of time.... while Kyle is not here. :headache: I appreciate the thought tremendously, but I think they should have waited until I was more stir-crazy, and looking for whatever interaction I can find! :rolleyes1
Last night, Kyle's entire Med-Peds class came up for dinner, bearing their favorite childrens books - each with a message in the cover from the giver to the girls. It was the sweetest thing! To make it even cooler, as far as we know (since I guarantee they are too busy to catch up online, since my own husband barely can!), they don't have any idea my obsession with filling the girls' bookcase with wonderful Childrens Lit :goodvibes
I hope you all are doing well! I have to use my hour up for now making sure things are presentable for my "guests" :), including baby stuff with names out of sight. What a hassle (which some could say we brought on ourselves)! :rotfl:

me too... Bob would LOVE the American Orient Express trips!
We ended up watching that so we wouldn't forget to watch the WDW show! When they said you stay on the train for 8 days DH and I looked at each other and said EIGHT days? :scared1: No train for us.
Remind me again why I'm going to the meeting/celebration tomorrow? I was hoping that as it got closer, I'd get more excited about it but that isn't happening. :confused3 Girl Scouts was a big part of my life for the last 10-11 years.
I got to that point with volunteering. It is just burn out. I hope you enjoy the event anyway!
So yesterday Nicholas told me that he would like to play baseball. This was 2 weeks after he told me that he didn't like baseball because he wasn't really good at it. Guess when registration ended....yep, yesterday. So this morning I talked to his dad to see if he would take him to his games on the weekends that he had him. He agreed, so tonight I went and paid the $20 late fee and signed him up for baseball. Soccer is over in the beginning of May and baseball starts on the 19th. I hope he likes it.
DS really wanted to play, but he only wanted to play on a team with kids from his school. Then with my mom not knowing what all will be happening I didn't look for a team. I hate not signing him up for somehting he WANTS to do, but I think it would have been a problem with scheduling. Not to mention that I don't know any other boys from his school who are playing!
That's cute, Bernadette!
Bernadette, you are on a tear with the sewing! It all looks great! :thumbsup2
As much as I would love to do V&A it would possibly be a very expensive mistake for myBob. He has gotten more adventurous, but not enough to take what they "dish up" on a regular basis. ;)
I don't think V&A is my kind of restaurant, but it does look nice.

I feel like most (all?) of the Disney specials on TV are that way. We all know WAY too much to actually "get" anything from any of them! For me, it's just fun to see and get a little fix. I totally agree though, that there is never anything worthwhile if you're looking for a tip! ;)

Dress rehearsal went well this morning. We are premiering a piece that was commissioned by the University of Mary Washington in commemoration of our Centennial Celebration this year. It is also in memory of a dear friend of mine, Dr. Patricia P. Norwood, who died suddenly last month. She was chair of the Department if Music and a most amazing woman. I can't wait to perform it tomorrow night with piano and string quartet. The lyrics are from Psalm 67 and the composer (David Kidwell, who is also an alum of my school) is in residence this semester, so it was very cool to have him sit in on our dress rehearsal this morning.
We are also performing 5 Hebrew Love Songs by Eric Whitacre. The Hebrew lyrics were written as poems by his wife when they were in Israel and dating. Absolutely phenomenal. He is 38 years old and his writing is like a dream. Our third piece is Nun ist das Heil und die Kraft, a JS Bach choral cantata (with organ).
Then we myBob and I went to lunch with friends. I went back out to do a little shopping for dinner. We are having a light meal since we ate ribs for lunch. On the menu: Melon with prosciutto and a balsamic drizzle, Asiago cheese and a Sobon Estates Old Vines Zinfandel. Dessert will be DarkDarkDarkDark Chocolate. Yum!

How sad. Though good for Bethany in some ways I'm sure. I know of 3 other moms who have done that. At least 2 asked for custody of the kids again a year or so later and wanted them to move to her state. Both ended up that way as the new agreement wasn't good enough to protect the dad. I know yourBob will do the agreement right. (These dad's weren't much better than the moms IMO.)

What a wonderful lineup, including that beautiful tribute to your friend! I must say, though, that I really quoted this because I could not be more in love with Eric Whitacre's arrangements!!! My choral group at Miami did something of his every year for as long as I can remember, and he was even our guest conductor one year (we have a quasi-famous one each spring, because my director is apparently so important. I say apparently, becuase he is a freaking prodigy in all aspects of music and has been since he was a young child, plus his father is some professional singer famous in some circles (I personally had no taste for his music)..... but we just went to parties with him :rolleyes1 ).
One of the first pieces I can remember singing was Water Night, which, while we were learning it was horrifying (those totally bizarre chord choices he makes!). The first time we "got it" though, and it wasn't bizarre chord choices plus 100 different voices doing their own thing ;) gave me chills! From there on out, every song we did of his was immediately my favorite! I think my favorite now, while I'm not singing any, has to be Lux Aurumque. Or Water Night :)
Ahh, what a wonderful conversation to have. I hate being so removed from that group! :flower3:
ETA: In case you're curious, I'm trying to remember (and look through music I have on my laptop). Right off hand, I can remember doing A Boy and a Girl, Five Hebrew Love Songs, Water Night, Lux Aurumque (a few times), She Weeps Over Rahoon (more often done by the men's glee club), Sleep and Winter. The class after me did Three Songs of Faith, which was also gorgeous!
ETA: (again) -- ooh, ooh! Do you also know anything from Morton Lauridsen? He's another of my absolute favorites. Very different than Eric Whitacre!

mine was under $60....at WalMart...regular price was under $100.
I need to make some grocery bags this weekend, thanks for the reminder!!
That's what I should do! I've been using my own bags, but wish I had some more. I totally need to make myself some Disney one!!

Hello all! Just finishing up my last babysitting for Kristi's group session. The 3 difficult/bratty children weren't here so it was easy going and done! YEAH!! I guess we're grilling tonight as one of my cousins is in town. Of course, it's supposedly at my parents house and I don't know the details so who knows. Erin was supposed to be talking to Ang about the plans, but I haven't heard. Guess I'd better call to see what the deal is. There's also talk of going out for drinks, but I'm pushing for a family Ted Drewes outing. Phil is sick with some stomach bug so there's no way he could watch Terra while I went for drinks. Besides, I'd much rather waste calories on frozen custard than alcohol. ;) :rotfl:
Catch you all later!
BTW, Jennifer - You could totally sew some simple little girl stuff. There are plenty of "quick" patterns that would be easy to learn on.

Yeah, but see I don't really want to! :rotfl: I mean, i get totally excited by the idea. I spent an hour this afternoon looking at sewing machines, calling my mom to see if she still has one and if she uses it (it turns out she has never owned one, you see where I get my sewing skills! ;)), etc. I was all over JoAnn's looking at ideas, etc and just filling my head with all the things I wanted to do.
But I don't want to measure, cut, and sew them! I think that's a problem. ;) Give me another week on bedrest though, I'll probably start wanting to do all sorts of new things! At least this whim would also be productive :thumbsup2 After all, for $60-$100 for the sewing machine, the very least I could do is learn to hem my own pants, instead of taking every pair and paying a professional! :rotfl:

Tell me this, though -- is it at all cost-effective, or is it just another expensive hobby like my photoshopping turned out to be? When I made a fleece blanket for my sister for Christmas, it turned out to be a HECK of a lot more expensive than just buying one! :faint:

I think it completely depends on what it is you decide to make. I loved appliquéd things and they were exorbitantly priced, so I learned to do appliqué on Kristin's outfits when she was little. It saved a lot of money over the Kelly's Kids things I was buying before.

I ran around a lot today, but I don't know if I really accomplished much! :rotfl:
We went to Macy's at 10 AM. It was a madhouse. Clinique was out of everything I wanted to buy, but we did see DS's preschool music teacher! He adored her when he was little, so it was nice to chat with her for a few minutes. :)
I bought 2 shirts and a belt for DS. I thought the belt was $15, but it was actually $35! :scared1: Of course it was full price. I almost fell over when she scanned it. I bought it anyway, then told DS we needed to look for a cheaper one.
I returned a pair of shorts for DS to Nordstrom and bought him a perfectly nice belt for $20. I bought a shirt that I had been looking at for the past week.
We grabbed lunch and went home.
I had 2 things to return for DS so I put them in a bag with the belt. I tried on my shirt - NOT GOOD. It was way too long and skin tight. Jones NY is NOT my favorite brand anymore. I bought 2 Polos that fit fine but I'm not sure if I will keep both of them. One is white with black trim, the other is navy with white trim. Loaded up my returns and went back to the mall (left DS with DH). Bought 2 shirts for DH. From there I went to meet with Marci.
It was so nice to see her and chat for a bit! Hopefully Lindsay can join us next time! :)
I went back home and DH tried on the shirts. They fit weird. He said they were women's. :rotfl2: (They weren't, but they did fit funny.) I took those back to Macy's but I didn't have time to go back to Nordstrom.
Princess & I just got home from dinner with DS & DH. She is doing a puzzle before she puts her pajamas on.

Today has been the day from you know where. First, soccer game at 8. Nicholas played all 4 quarters and ran his little heart out. They lost, again. His team hasn't scored a goal yet, and their last game is Saturday. Then I went to the nursery to get some hanging baskets for my front porch. Then to the mall where I tried to find a dress. Have I told you I hate shopping. I went home empty handed. When I got home I found that Bob had started a load of laundry, trying to be helpful. I know I should be appreciative but laundry is one of those things that I'm very particular about. But it's neither here nor there because my washer decided to bite the dust, right before the spin cycle. Then we rushed out the door to drive the 53 miles to Washington, DC. The show started at 2 and we left here about 12:10. We didn't get 10 miles up 95 before the back-up started. There was an accident ahead, which created a 20 mile traffic jam. So we arrived at the theater about 2:15, and it had already started. The kids really enjoyed the show. So did I for that matter. We stopped at Olive Garden on the way home for dinner. Luckily that drive was much smoother.
So now, on top of the other 15 things that are on my to-do list, I have to buy a new washer. I have no idea how I'm going to get everything done by Saturday. Did you ever end up getting one, Elin?
Janet, which did you get again?

O Magnum Mysterium is my hands-down, absolute favorite that the Mens Glee Club from Miami sings. I can't get enough of it! Lauridsen was my directors professor (well, I assume one of) at USC... so we did a lot of his stuff as well. Club did a lot more though, which was fine -- they sounded phenomenal! :cloud9:

I use to eat raw turnips when I was younger :rotfl:
My soup is in the crockpot! I have to tell you I think I have the weirdest child. I was cutting up the veggies and I used some parsnips and turnips. Molly saw the turnip on the counter and grabbed and took a bite. "Mmmm this is good Mommy!" :crazy2: I can't imagine eating it raw and thinking it was tasty. She continued to munch on it for about 10 minutes.

Hi, everyone! It's been a long weekend, and I apologize for not checking in for several days. Things here are going well. The funeral is all in order, and it looks like it will be quite a thing. Carissa was so loved, they had to move it to a larger chapel. Carrie and her family have received so many cards, flowers, plants, etc., that it's been quite overwhelming. Not to mention the food. They haven't had to cook for almost a week. We were over there last night, and while we were there, 6 families dropped by with spaghetti, ravioli, salad, desserts, etc. Thank heaven for friends and neighbors at a time like this.
I've been practicing my fingers to the bone. I really want to play well for the family. I tend to get nervous performing, so this is a real challenge for me!
Anyway, that's about all the news from my house (except the news that the kids are fighting again, but you didn't really need to know that, right?)
Deb - love the painting!!!
Tammi - sorry about the washer. Glad you enjoyed the show. My prayers are with Bethany as she adjusts.
Bernadette - love the fabric/outfits. You are one sewing maniac!!!!
Jennifer - Glad that the bed rest is going ok so far. Alan sends you his condolences. He remembers how bed rest affected me!
For everyone else - :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
