Hi Everyone,

We are planning a family vacation for April Vacation 2009 and I was wondering how you all go about planning this? Do you book home resort first and then @ 7 months waitlist your choice of resort? I ask because we would be intertest in OKW which is not our home resort.

Also do you book day to day? I've only been once before we stayed 2 days (at the HRH) and 2 days @ CSR then went into DVC.

Can anyone shed some insight for me.

Thanks,
Lisa

If you are planning for around Easter, you may want to book your home resort and then try to switch at 7 months.

For end of April, not the week before or the week after Easter, you can probably get OKW at 7 months. We easily booked a 2BR dedicated at OKW for the first week of May this year. :)

Thanks may I have your thoughts on this ... Massachusetts April vacation will be 4/20-4/25, Easter falls on 4/12, the week prior to our vacation. Do you think OKW will be acessible in this senario.

Although I understand it would be safer to book Home then switch. OKW is the cheapest pointwise and I am borrowing points from the next year so I cannot return them.

Thanks

If you call at 7 months, I think OKW will be available. I honestly don't think you will have any problems, it would be highly unlikely at 7 months out that all resorts are filled for that week.

It will be slower the week of the 20th than the two weeks surrounding Easter, but it will still be quite busy. I honestly think you should be able to get OKW at the 7 month mark. If not, then SSR should have availability. You didn't mention what kind of villa you are looking for. That may play a part too if you are looking for a larger, limited quantity accomodations.

I also think you'll get it at 7 months w/out a problem - but whenever I had set travel dates, I book home (or hold onto a cash reservation) and then switch just to be safe.

I would still book at my home resort but maybe less one weekend night so that if you do switch over at 7 months, you won't have left over borrowed points. Worst case scenerio, you can wait list for that one night at your home resort.

I just like having a reservation to sleep somewhere so that I could start looking at airfare and car rental, if necessary.

:headache:
i swear i'm not stupid;) ,
but for some reason, that simple solution never occurred to me. instead, i get so caught up banking & borowing that i need a notepad to hold all the calculations & possible scenerios.

perfect example of K.I.S.S........:thumbsup2

In case you are interested in the popularity of different spring weeks I started a school break poll...

Thanks Lisa! That helped as I am a little less concerned about trying to secure OKW @ 7 months exactly.

SO I guess I will take a chance and see what happens.

Thanks Again
