AND THE VACATION WITH STRANGERS BEGINS...

Hi everyone! I'm Monica and I've been elected to do the majority of the writing for this crazy girls trip. You are welcome to read the pre trippie if you feel compelled, but I'll tell you now, nothing planned in it is actually what we did so I say, "Don't bother"! We all "met" on the DIS and instantly formed one of those weird internet relationships that cause people to give you funny looks. You should have seen the looks I got when I would tell people I was going on a Girls Trip with my friends that I met online!! I eventually started leaving that part out! We started the planning in March and there were many people and plan changes along the way. So, here's the final cast:

Me: Homeschooling mom of Hunter 7, and Megan 3. The only time I've left Hunter more than one night was to have Megan. Not by choice necessarily, just where would I go? I'm married to Dave who was apprehensive about this Girls Trip to say the least. But in the end Dave and my mom were so awesome and were very happy for me to have this opportunity.

Michelle (mkluvsmickey): Mom of Samantha whom we secretly hope will someday marry Hunter to make us one big happy family! (Yes, we need help). Michelle is truely one of the nicest people I know. We actually met last December when her and Sam drove up to Disney to spend the day with my family.
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc97/monicadave98/Disney/image071.jpg

Sara (mom2mek): Mom of Micheal, Emily and Katie. We seem to live the same life execpt in different states. Our kids seem to have the same wardrobe, have the same toys, and do the same things. It's very weird. Sara also is such a great person. I can't believe I have made such wonderful friends on a Disney planning website! Who'd of thunk it?! I had actually met Sara as well in June when her family was in Ohio. You know how you laugh so hard you cry and pee a little at the same time? That pretty much sums up the night!
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc97/monicadave98/Columbus005.jpg

Jen (PrincessJV): Mom of 2 cuties as well met up with us during her family trip. I didn't "know" her very well, but she sure fit into out silly group. (Poor thing)

We stayed offsite in a 3 BDRm, 3 BA, condo. I know "BOOOO". However, you seriously think we could have put three women into a one room Disney resort with 1 bathroom?! We'd still be there trying to get ready!

Follow the links below to hear about our wild and crazy trip!
I sure hope this isn't a cruel practical joke! Pg 74

I think this trip started out as a joke. While talking on the DIS someone mentioned their trip in December. Another person said, "I'll drive up and join you. Anyone else?" I said, "Yeah, me too! (HA HA)" Well, a joke amung some DIS friends is becoming a reality! Yes, that's right. I am flying to Florida by myself. Leaving my children and husband behind. So I can meet up with a group of people I do not "know"! Are we crazy? Maybe a little.

My name's Monica. I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mom of a 6yr old and a 2yr old. I've never left my children for more than a night, let alone taken a trip w/out my family. I haven't flown in 10 years, and it's taking some serious sweet talking to convince my husband that I can make this work. Financially, as well as who's going to watch the kids, etc.

We'd love for you to join in on our planning and our wild ride! I'll let the rest of the group introduce themselves! Here's the plan so far: 1st weekend in Dec, staying at Pop Century. Yup, that's it!

**Updated itinerary 5/12
Thursday 12/4: Arrival, DTD?, MK early dinner, MVMCP w/ Jen
Friday 12/5: AK, early Pizzafari lunch, dinner at Boma, DTD?
Sat 12/6: Epcot, 2:30? Coral Reef, maybe catch the candlelight processional
12/7: Bfast at Kona?, Monica leave for airport around 12

Yay! Let the planning begin. Lets see how many times our plans change between now and then!

I'm Michelle and I'll be driving up for the long weekend! My daughter Samantha (who is 7 and a Disney nut herself) has no idea this is happening. I'm going to have to tell her I have a business trip or something.

I will also be at POP (with Monica) from 12/4-12/7!! We are hoping to do MVMCP on 12/5.

:woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm here! I'm here!

I'm Sara, working mom of 3 from VA. My three will have to be told something completely untrue about this trip as I would not have the heart to tell them where I was going without them!

I will be driving from VA and I guess staying at Pop! :rotfl: Hey, first time staying on property for me, other than the trip when I was 5, which I don't remember where we stayed, but I think it was on site! :confused3

Bring on the planning! This will be a blast!

Um, Michelle. Why don't our tickers match? I'll have to make sure I put in the right date!

Sara, where else would you be staying? No, I can't afford the Grand Floridian!:rotfl: BTW, checked out Spoodles menu and it's a little "fancy" for my taste.

Oh come on Monica! Concierge level! You can do it! :lmao:

I am the girl who has never stayed on site, remember? So you can imagine my sticker shock! :scared1: Pop works for me! So far it looks like I will be all alone in my room though! :sad2: Maybe I can be next door!

I haven't checked out any menus yet, but where is the infamous "Kitchen Sink"? That interests me!

Okey dokey! Ask and you shall receive! :goodvibes

I went to Disney back when I was 5 or so and then again twice in the horrible pre-teen years (once with my mom and family, once with my dad and family - Epcot had been open a few years. I want to say it was 1986/1987. One parent did it, then the other parent HAD to do it!

Didn't go back until 2002 when my son was 1. My mom and I were going to a conference so we dragged along the guys and then my sister and her family joined us once our classes were over and we hit the parks! 10 of us on that trip! Had a blast!

2006 - Our Disney Disaster Trip! Went in January of 2006 (our kids were 4, 2, and 1) with 12 people total in the group and almost everyone got the stomach flu! It wasn't pretty! Still made some nice memories, though.:goodvibes

2007 - Link for this trip report is in my signature! It's still ongoing! :sad2: Thanksgiving Week with 16 people! My parents, brother, SIL and their 2 kids, sister, BIL, and their 3 kids, and my group. 8 kids and 8 adults! It was a doozy and I was the only planner! :scared1:

That's it for me!

Hi! :hippie: I've lost track of my number of trips. I do know that this past February was trip #13 for my daughter who is 7!

I grew up in South Florida so we took annual trips growing up. We also did quite a few school field trips to WDW. Then, in college I would take friends during Spring Break. My trips slowed down when I got married in 1995 since my husband is not a Disney fan - I think he and I went twice before Samantha was born in 2000. We moved to Georgia for a few years in 2001 but when we got back here in 2005 I bought annual passes for Sam and I and have been putting them to great use! :)

Hi! We did a day visit when I was 4 and we have 2 pictures! We made another Spring Break day visit when I was 12 and we have 0 pictures! We went back in '96 and stayed at All Star Music and I was hooked! We went in '98 for our honeymoon and stayed at Caribbean Beach. Took DS for the 1st time in '04 right before he turned 3 and stayed at All Star Movie. Our recent trip was this past December. We stayed at POR and it was a wonderful trip. Actually, Michelle drove up and met us for the day so we have met. I haven't traveled much, but we love Disney.

Thanks for joining us in our planning! We're trying to do things we've never done before so we'd love everyones input!

Sara, have you ever seen a picture of The Kitchen Sink? Do a search. It's HUGE!

Hello!

Even though I can't make it in December I want to follow along on this TR - I am going in May and meeting about 20 people from another thread here so maybe I will learn some tips from that trip that I can pass along with you.

You all should get a grand gathering number as that helps you get your rooms close together - you only need 8 people not 8 rooms and they don't all have to stay at the same hotel and maybe you could do one of the grand gathering events. Also I found out that if you all want to eat together you need to try and make ADRs as soon as possible as it gets harder to make them for such large groups (our group is too large to eat together so we have to have a couple of ADRs)

YOu all are going to have soooo much fun and I can't wait to see pictures of you in your hats from around the world:rotfl:

OK, I'm here now too. I'm Faith, nickname is Pakey. I'm from California and am planning to make this trip too. Talk about insane. From my home airport to the Orlando airport is 9 hours of flying time with a connection somewhere as there are no direct flights. I will be taking Friday as a vacation day, spending the entire day traveling and with the 3 hour time change, will only get into Orlando at about 6:00 pm. Then I'll be leaving early enough on Sunday to get home before midnight so that I can get up and go to work on Monday.

I grew up in CA and took many trips to Disneyland. The first was in 1962. My first trip to WDW was in 1977 before I got married. DH and I have 3 grown sons but when they were younger, we went to DL 3-4 times a year.

We didn't return to WDW until the kids were grown. I think it was 1998 or so. That's when my real love of WDW began--when I didn't have to watch out for my small children anymore and could just enjoy myself. DH and I go often (it will be 3 times this year) but we've also taken our grown children and their spouses 4 times and in Jan 09, we'll make our first family trip with our grandson, who'll be 3 then.

I've never stayed at the POP. I've only ever stayed at the DVC resorts or Deluxe resorts on concierge level--we've stayed at GF, BC, YC, BCV, SSR and OKW. And I think I've eaten at just about every restaurant in all of the hotels, parks, and DTD (I like food). So I'm looking forward to this adventure and to finally getting to meet these fantastic women I've met on here. And it will be worth going just to watch Sara eat the Kitchen Sink over at my favorite resort, the Beach Club.

I also want to go to MVMCP on Friday night. I'll need to do something to walk off the stiffness of sitting in a plane all day. Plus then I won't have to say I flew all the way there just for one day in the parks.

So I'm ready to plan ahead here.

Must come to the party! The cookies and hot chocolate will be calling your name! :santa: We'll help you walk off the stiffness from the plane! :hyper:
Plus, I hear Kimmy and Missa know all the hiding places in the MK, and midnight is only 9:00 your time -so you'll be up for it! Right? :rotfl2:

Yes, I will be able to stay awake for the Friday night party, no problem. As long as I get some food along the way somewhere. I'm always starving after that long travel day. And good to know that Kimmy and Missa got all of the inside scoops. I've been to the party one time but I spent most of it riding Buzz over and over because I couldn't get over the no lines.

And I'll help a bit with the kitchen sink if you insist. I'm not a germaphobe at all. I have 2 housedogs, I had to get over my germ issues when I got them. :rotfl:

But I still think it'd be more fun just watching you try to eat it all yourself. I'd be glad to take pics of you doing it. :rotfl:

Michelle, since you have annual passes, do you also have the DDE card for TS meal discounts (it's also good at Pop's food court I believe? Mo and I have one but it's in his name. When we renew in May, I might have to get one in my name too.

Or is everyone planning to get DDP?

We're not getting the dining plan so we welcome any discounts!

You'll be in for a shock going to concierge to value resort!

Hi Charlene! Thanks for the tips. I never even thought about the Grand Gathering! I think we have 6 people so far.

Hi Charlene! Thanks for the tips. I never even thought about the Grand Gathering! I think we have 6 people so far.

:rotfl: My husband is still waiting to see if I will actually stay at a value resort. I think he's considering going just to see if I can do it. I'm actually looking forward to it. I've heard lots of good things out on these boards about Pop and I love trying new things.

I do not share food with my dogs. However, I do let my boy dog lick my face (well, I'd rather he didn't but he's always so happy to see me when I get home that I just can't be mean about it). I do not let my girl dog lick my face though. That crosses some weird boundary I have. So now that you know my dog licks my face, Sara isn't going to want to share that Kitchen Sink with my anymore. :lmao:

Food discounts work for me too. In fact, I'm hoping to make our Sat night dinner a business meal picked up by the company. If that's the case, we may be picking somewhere nice. What's everyone's fav place?

Oh, how bad is resort airline checkin at Pop? I'm just curious how crowded that line will be on a Sunday morning? I know it's a pretty big resort and probably everyone flies home on Sundays.

I'm Kari, one of the two ladies going for a family vacay that the rest are crashing! :lmao: So, we'll be in a 2 bedroom at a DVC resort Dec 3-9 or 10). Might be fun to leave them all for a night at POP, tho....think I can convince Adam? :rotfl:

I was at WDW in 76 (at 3), and since then....Sept 05 at POFQ (twins 3rd b-day), DCL in June 06 (no kids, 10th anniversary), Feb 07 at BWV (15 weeks preggers), Jan/Feb 08 at SSR (Anderson's 1st trip to WDW).

Pakey, I am cracking up here! Yes, don't let your GIRL dog lick your face!:rotfl: We're not worried. You can spend your time on the plane cleaning your face!

Michelle and I thought that maybe we should do Epcot on Sat since that's the place open the latest and it's got a good night life. Plus Michelle has never seen Illuminations. What do you all think? Not all of us will be able to hop so wherever we pick we're there for the day. So we were thinking maybe Japan to eat. However Le Cellier and Coral Reef are very good too. Don't forget we're dealing with some pretty picky eaters (me and Michelle).

Hey ya'll!

I'm Molly, the other one going with my family at this time. We're going to be at VWL with me, DH, DD(5), DS(almost 2 in Dec) and my parents (I better not tell their ages) there Dec 6 - 12. Since we're arriving on Sat., I'll only get to spend a little time Sat afternoon/evening with the ladies.:sad2:

We went to WDW numerous times when I was growing up. We spent several spring breaks in one of the trailers they used to rent out at Ft Wilderness. I've loved Disney ever since. My family went back once when I was in college and we stayed at POFQ which was great. My next trip was in June 1998 with DH who was my DBF until we got to WDW and then he became my DF. THat's right, he proposed to me at WDW. It was his first trip and he was totally blown away by it. We stayed at CSR which I really liked. Especailly the food court. Then we went back to WDW for our honeymoon in Dec 1998 and stayed at POR when it was still Dixie Landings. Then we went back in 2000 (CSR again). We bought DVC in Dec of 2001 and took our first trip home with my parents and brother in June 2002. DH and I went back in Dec 2002 when I was pregnant with DD. We went in Dec 2004 (VWL), Dec 2005(VWL), Oct/Nov 2006 (OKW, pregnant w/DS) and Feb 2008(OKW). That sounds like a lot (for somebody who lives 7 hrs away), is that a lot?

I can't wait to see what fun plans ya'll come up with.

Molly, I can't believe you never told us you got engaged at WDW. I agree, more details are needed. I so very much wanted one of my sons to marry at WDW. 2 are married now, neither wanted to do it at the World, and the 3rd has emphatically told me that he will not marry at WDW.

Kari, don't know about Japan and nuts. I would think it would be okay, you just have to make sure that nothing is cooked with any type of nut oils--that is probably a bigger risk than there actually being any nuts in the food. And you won't be raining on my parade by having that allergy. You have to take it seriously and if that means we have to limit our choices, that's fine with me. I could have a funnel cake for dinner and be happy. I'll probably have a funnel cake anyway. :rotfl:

My favorite place in Epcot to eat is Bistro de Paris but can totally understand that most of the group would not like it. I also like Coral Reef (much more than I like Le Cellier). I've eaten at most of the places but have not tried the new Italy place. I'd probably be fine dining at any of them except I might whine a bit if it's San Angel because that's so not good Mexican food. We could also go to the Boardwalk or any of the Epcot resorts too if we need to find something suitable for nut allergies.

I'm getting hungry just thinking about the options here. Do not put me in charge of food.

Character breakfast is a great idea. I've never done one. Add that to Michelle never seeing Illuminations and we're already coming up with some great stuff here.

ok, another picky one here. pakey, is japan very nutty? i am strongly opposed to introducing you all to my nut allergy....I do feel my safest at WDW, seriously, but open nuts might be an issue.

sorry to be a downer...

Not a downer at all! I just don't like "fancy" foods. I would be happy with Coral Reef. YUM! We'll eat wherever you can meet us! Churros for everyone!:rotfl:

So-Friday is Christmas party----i hope i can do one with the family, too!! Imagine, two MVMCP in one trip!!

Um,with this group I'm pretty sure we're gonna be silly the whole time! I love character meals! It would have to be either at a resort or whatever park we're staying for the day since some of us won't be hopping.

Character meal options for breakfast on Sunday morning:
-Cape May Cafe @ Beach Club: Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale
-Chef Mickeys: Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Minnie
-1900 Park Fair @ Grand Floridian: Supercalifragilistic breakfast with possible characters like Mary Poppins, Alice and Mad Hatter
-O'Hana breakfast @ Poly: Lilo and Stitch, Mickey, Pluto
-Tusker House @ AK: Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Mickey
-Crystal Palace @Mk: Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet

*There are a few more that probably wouldn't work. Royal Table or Askerhaus

Thanks Monica! The only one of these I've done is Chef Mickeys (which I love) but it may be nice to try something new. What about O'Hana? Isn't that where the Tonga Toast is that everyone raves about? Cape May Cafe sounds good too - at least the pictures I've seen of the characters in costume are cute! Who am I kidding - they all sound good!

Tonga toast is at Kona.

The only problem with a park is that some people seem to be leaving early on Sunday and may not be going to a park with us. Cape May might be nice because I think that's where Kari is staying. Right? However, Chef Mickey's had a good selection of characters. We'll make Faith decide!

Good point about the parks. If we do a resort or boardwalk restaurant everyone can do whatever they want to afterwards.
Yeah - let Faith decide!

By the way, I looked at the menu for Beaches & Cream and it looks yummy!

Hi guys! :goodvibes

As far as Epcot, I would love the Coral Reef or pretty much anywhere in the WS other than Mexican or German. Italian, French, Japanese, Le Cellier - they all sound fantastic to me! Of couse funnel cakes all around, baby!

And the character breakfast, I would love to try O'hana - I've never even been to the Poly and I've always wanted to try O'hana! I've done CM and CP, but would gladly do those if that is what everyone wanted. Cape May and Tusker House are good I hear too!

No princess dining, huh? :rotfl2: They might like our shirt! ;) Nah - not as much fun as Mickey! That Mad Hatter one (where is that, 1900 Park Faire?) would probably be a hoot with this bunch! :lmao:

I'm guessing AK is the park of choice for Sunday? Sounds fine to me! :thumbsup2 I do ride more things at AK than DHS, but I will miss seeing those Christmas lights at DHS! :santa:

We did Ohana this time....food was good, our service was bad. And, we only saw Mickey and we were there for over an hour. It's served family style, and we never got "refills". But...I'd go again with you all (we won't do family again, tho). Plus, there is a photo dude there to take pics and sell them. We could memorialize our meal!

We've done Chef Mickey's too, love it.
We've done Princesses for dinner only.

I'd be more likely to go to a resort then a park....especially with whole family going with me. (thank god my mom and dad are going....what would adam do??? i really need to get back to my trip report, then you all would know what i'm talking about....well, tina knows. she hears it all. )

Hey ya'll!

Wow, ya'll are some plannin' chicks. We were probably going to do Chef Mickey's on Sun anyway, so I'll put in my vote for that.;) That way I can just sneak away from the table for a while and hang out with ya'll. But, I'm like everyone else, and would love whatever sounds good to the most people. We're staying in a studio at VWL on Sat night and moving to our 2 brm at VWL on Sun morning. My parents won't arrive until sometime Sun.

My proposal? Let me tell you how romantic it was. Did it include a diver at Coral Reef? No. Was it down on one knee in front of Cinderella's castle during the fireworks? Nol Was it during a romantic stroll around World Showcase? No.

We checked into our room at CSR and got freshened up to go to MK. As we were about to leave out, Darin sat down all of a sudden, reached in his pocket, pulled out a ring box, and said.......(hold on, this is the really sweet part, I'll wait while you go grab a tissue:sad: )................................................. ...................."Here, take this thing it's poking me in the leg."

Of course, I'm thinking "WHAT?? Is that supposed to be a proposal?" :rotfl: Then he asked me to be his wife and all that other jazz. Of course, I said yes, we both cried, and we went off to the MK just like in the fairy tales. Not exactly on one knee in front of the castle like I always imagined, but still pretty cool. At least we were at WDW. He told me later that he wanted to do it at the MK but he was afraid the ring would fall out of his pocket on the way there. And besides, it really was poking him in the leg. And thus began our lives as a Disney family. We love eachother and we love Disney.:grouphug: Him probably not as much as me on the Disney part, but almost, and he supports me. (Except when I wanted to name our DD Minnie.) We even got married on Walt's birthday. Total coincidence. Really.

We considered getting married at WDW, but knew lots of the people who would want to attend, wouldn't be able to afford the trip. Looking back, we would have been fine without them.;)

Okay ladies, carry on.

And so friggin hilarious! :lmao: :rotfl2: Is that a ring in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? :confused3

Oooo, a Disney wedding! Wouldn't that be fabulous? Maybe we can start planning for a DIS girls joint vow renewal ceremony at Disney, say 2020? :confused3 That would be 24 years of wedded bliss for us! :scared1:

Okay, here is my formal introduction. My name is Kimmy, I'm from Cleveland Ohio, I'm a single kinda gal (sorta LONG STORY) I LOVE Disney (duh!) I will be traveling with my best friend, Missa aka Missamouse, who is also a HUGE Disney fan. I just turned 30 (just doesn't sound right) and have been to Disney almost 30 times.
I'm actually on vacation right now(should still be sleeping I KNOW!) staying right outside of Disney. I don't want to bore you with listing out all my trips (not that I could remember them all anyway) but I can tell you the obsession began when I was 5 and has not slowed down. I have stayed at almost all the resorts except for some of the Really good ones :rotfl2: but of course it's on my list of things to do....

Okay, I want to chime in on a few things. We will be coming in on Thursday Dec 4 and staying till Monday Dec 8 (I think those are the right dates??) We will be staying at the Pop, I think I will make my reservation today. Friday @ MVMCP sounds GREAT! Sat @ EPCOT also is good, food~ anything is good for us. I would love to try Japan, but not at the risk of Kari's allergy. Sunday, the only req I would like to throw out there, is NO Chef Mick's!! I really dislike that place A LOT! The rest of the list, would be fine. I love Ohana's and I really wanna try 1900, but seriously anything else on that list would be good.

Missa took a very special picture for you all yesterday, I will share it when I am home to download it on to my desktop. Right now she is playing the part of Snoring Beauty in the bed next to me.

I am the only one up! Even my 70 year old aunt and 60 year old mom are sleeping!! WTH??

Wow, Molly! How sweet! Sometime when I'm typing 2-handed ;) , I'll tell you about my 10th anniversary ring, given at Disney. Kaitlyn is planning on a Disney wedding....I let her watch the Travel Channel special. I kept a tab of her dream list.....$75,000. We are now starting a wedding fund :lmao: ....Actually, that's not a joke. In addition to college funds, I told Adam we should, and that all 3 will get some...to use for wedding, honeymoon, downpayment on a house, whatever....And, Disney gave me the idea! Lovin' the magic!

Great story Molly! Don't worry, my hubbie's proposal wasn't much more romantic. We were going to Gatlinburg for Fourth of July. On our way out of town Dave said he had to go back home because he forgot something. (The Ring.) We were going to spend The 4th in Pigeon Forge and stay for the fireworks. Dave had to go back to the house after lunch because he forgot something. (The ring). Evening rolls around and the biggest storm I've ever witnessed rolls in. It was scarey and even destroyed the stage they had set up. So fireworks were cancelled and we went back to the house. I guess poor Dave was scrambling to come up with a plan B since his fireworks proposal wasn't possible. I hop in the shower and instead of putting my stuff back in the drawer I just came out to the living room. Wet hair, no makeup, oversized Winnie the Pooh shirt. Apparantly Dave had put the ring in the drawer for me to find when I put my stuff away, but I ruined his plan B so he had to just say "go look in the drawar!" Romantic huh? BTW, my mom and little brother were there too.

Vow renewal in 2020 sounds good. It would be 22 years for us.

Ok, so we're narrowing this down. No park character breakfast, and no Chef Mickey's. Anyone else had bad luck w/ O'Hana's? Maybe we should try Cape May? I wish 1900 had better characters.

Cute proposal story Monica! Funny how things work out sometimes - all the planning and then something totally puts a wrench in it!

I'm ok with any of the choices for breakfast. All of the remaining choices are places I've not tried so I'm excited for something new! Monica, depending on what time you have to leave on Sunday mayble you'll want to make Sunday a non-park day? And do a park on Friday instead? Or just a park on Saturday? I'd just hate for you to waste the money for a full park day if you have to leave in the afternoon.

Pakey - will you be able to have breakfast with us Sunday morning or will you need to leave really early?

Poohtigeey

It's going to depend on what kind of flight I can get. We could do AK on Friday then head over to the party. I guess there's plenty to do w/out being in a park. I just don't want to spend the money on unnecessary tickets, but I'm sure Sara, Kimmy and Missa would want to go to a park on Sun since they aren't leaving til Monday morning. Good thing we've started our planning early!

Dang guys, you have been busy over here as well. Seriously, I have to work for a living but I seem to spend all day dissing. I blew off training my new acct yesterday so that I could get caught up on here and now today looks to be the same.

I can already tell you that I'm starting to waffle on my days there. I have an AP so park tickets are taken care of. Hotel at POP will be nothing compared to what I'm used to spending for a room so another day wouldn't matter there either. I have to eat no matter where I'm at so I don't count that as money for vacation. That leaves that dang airfare which will be the biggest part. Spreading the cost of that airfare over 4 days sounds so much better than over 3 days. I'll be looking into it. I have no vacation time left because of going to Europe in September for 2 weeks and then the land/sea trip in Jan for 2 weeks. I guess I feel an illness coming on already and I'll have to use sick time.

So is the plan to do MK on Friday? Monica, what time are you coming in? What time does MVMCP start?

I can probably do Sunday breakfast. We usually get a flight that leaves about 2:00 pm which means Magical Express pickup at 11:00 am. Or I could do towncar transfer and I'd get an extra hour that way. I hate that ME anyway.

And no vow renewal for me in 2020. I'll probably be too old to travel. :rotfl: Maybe I could sit in a rocker and watch the rest of you guys.

Michelle, maybe we could do DTD Thurs evening, AK and MK party Fri, Epcot Sat and Character breakfast and resort hopping on Sun. Then if Sara, Kimmy and Missa want to do MGM (Yes, I'm gonna call it that!) on Sunday if they want. Or we could resort hop on Thurs and DTD Sun.

AK would be a good choice, since it doesn't have a lot going on in the evening anyways - sometimes it's only open till 5 or so! We could do an early dinner at the MK at 4 or so when we get in for the party - Pecos Bills or Columbia Harbour House or a sit down, if anyone desires! Or hit somewhere at the AK before leaving so we don't have to worry about eating during our precious MK time! Well, except of course, cookies and hot chocolate! Oh, and Dole Whips, and funnel cakes, and ...;)

I like the 1st one - DTD on Thurs. night, and character breakfast and resorts on Sunday. Then whoever is still there can decide if they want to go to a park or more shopping for the rest of Sunday. Resort hopping on arrival night doesn't sound like quite as much fun as shopping, although the Boardwalk might be nice. Where is Beaches & Cream again? I know it's the Beach Club, but is that right there at the Boardwalk?

Sorry, don't know my resorts too well! Can you tell I'm obsessing about that place?

Michelle, maybe we could do DTD Thurs evening, AK and MK party Fri, Epcot Sat and Character breakfast and resort hopping on Sun. Then if Sara, Kimmy and Missa want to do MGM (Yes, I'm gonna call it that!) on Sunday if they want.

That sounds like a good plan. We can always go to Beaches & Cream on Sunday afternoon for a late lunch or at least dessert before we have to leave.

Awww, man! You all will be there "free"---no kids, no DHs!!! I am so jealous....(Faith, i think my whole fam will get there the 3rd. Stay at SSR and hang with us?):lmao:

Kari - you deserve a break too! You need to sneak away as much as possilbe! :) Of course we have to meet the whole family at some point too!

I had noticed that. So what's the problem? We've got our priorities, right? :rolleyes1

Yay! Start the peer pressure on Nichole!!! We just told hubbies we're going cause we deserve it! This is my bday gift, my Mother's day gift, my Anniversary gift and Christmas! It actually works out for Dave cause he doesn't have to shop! He was really waffling about it until now that he has a chance to go on a rafting trip this summer!

Pakey, I don't know if I want to spend the $$ on a ticket for MK on Friday when I've already spent $50 to go to the party that night. I'd rather do AK during the day and MK party in the evening. More bang for my buck!!

I have to work on DH. Yes I do desrve it but he will say going back in October to WL is my anniversary, mothers day, and birthday gift. I might have something I can use against him though ;) . Oh it would be so nice to go with other people that like to do the planning, then I can relax for a change.

Haha! I'm actually having a laid back vaca. Not 24/7 Disney, for a change. It's nice, but I do miss my constant Disney. Today we have just been laying around the pool, not doin too much. I'm about to hop in the shower so we can go out shopping. I'm Lobsteresk right now :rotfl2:
That sounds good too. I wouldn't mind baking in the sun all day. You needed a relaxing trip anyway. When you get back I hope you finish your trippie  .

2. A picture of Sara with her Kitchen Sink
3. An airline ticket for under $1000

I hope to ride:

1. Tower of Terror (this is a gotta do for me--good thing I've got an AP)
2. Expedition Everest
3. Buzz Lightyears Ranger Spin

I hope to eat:

1. Walnut Fudge from Main Street

Well, I think some rooms need to be booked! Even if you're still on the fence. Rooms can always be cancelled and room mates rearranged. I'll sleep with anybody!!:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: (Please don't see that tag fairy!)

Disney trip question: If you had to pick one table service and one counter service to eat at Disney where would it be?

I'm gonna say Coral Reef because I know I like it, but a new place would be Teppan Ido (is that the name?) and Pizzafari for counter service. And a desert place would be Beaches n Cream!

Oh Geez Monica. :sad2: I didn't get around to answering the other question. Let me think here...

Character I would like to meet: That's really hard. There are a ton that I have missed meeting. I'll have to get back to you on that one. :sad2:

One table service - I would have to say, Le Cellier or O'hana
One counter service - Columbia Harbour House or Flame Tree

Seriously, that is hard. There are so many places I haven't eaten that I would like to try, and there are so many places I love that I always want to do!

Dessert - well, you know about that one! :rolleyes1

I Have to agree I love Coral Reef. But I would like to try Teppanyaki in Japan. It would probably be fun with a group.

There are so many CS I like. I can usually go with the flow if I don't have to be the planner.

Characters, how about Tarzan  . I think I've met everyone else. The only I could not find was Marie from Aristocats. My DD really wanted to see her.

Anyway I still have to work on DH a bit. Or I have to make sure he can get his Jets tickets from his connection that has season tickets, then check on airfare.

Monica, am I allowed to answer to restaurant question. Or have I been completely banned from all topics relating to food. :rotfl2:

My fav place is V&A. But if we're talking reality for this dismeet trip, I'd say......anything except Rainforest Cafe and Le Cellier (the only 2 I can think of that I've not liked at all--tried them both twice just to make sure :rotfl: ). Oh, and I can't go to Shula's Steakhouse because they have live lobsters. Not even if Orlando Bloom was there to have an intimate dinner with just me would I go in there with those lobsters. I know, I know, I just can't answer the question. Heck no, Faith, give everyone these stupid stories that nobody is interested in.

I haven't eaten at many counter services. I've only done Flame Tree, Caseys and the new Yak n Yeti cs-forgot what it's called. Since I haven't eaten at many, I don't have much for comparison. I'm excited to maybe try something I haven't tried before. Unlike some people who are afraid of the unknown. But I'm not bitter, oh no, not at all.

Hi Jen! It would be great to meet up with you! You know what they say, "any virtual friend of a virtual friend is a virtual friend of mine"!

Something like that! :rolleyes1

Sara Thanks Sara! Now on with your TR. You & Poohtigeey have me hooked like a good novel.

Pakey then you definitely need to go to the Christmas party because I think that's the only time you can meet all of the dwarfs. We met them at the Halloween party and it was so cool!
Seriously? I never saw them at MNSSHP. Where were they? WOW!

I will definately let you know when we finalize our plans - hopefully we can meet up.
That would be a lot of fun!

Will you be going to to MVMCP at all? We are planning to go on 12/5.
I am planning on it, but I probably won't hit it that night, it's a Friday and I am a a TGM follower:worship: (unless he says it is a go...never know until he posts his best).:confused3

I will looksie here as much as I can. But you girls are a chatty group :thumbsup2 and I just may not be able to keep up.:)

I have a question for you all, as I see you have not all booked the rooms. Do you think if I am checking in on Thanksgiving or the day after, I should book preferred? I do like to be semi close to the main area. Last fall we were next to the big wheel in the 70's. I would hate to get the left over rooms in the last part of the 80's or 50's. What do you think? BTW- We are at POP until the 30th, then we move.

Hey guys.
I swear I will be more active here when I come back. My laptop keeps losing its signal, so I go to post and hit enter and my signal goes away, so nothing I typed is there. I'm outside now, so I'm pretty safe.

My must meet character is Marie Kitty, I have stalked her out twice now and no dice. They said that she has not been out in weeks in EPCOT

My sit down is Le Cellier (don't tell Pakey) and counter service is Pinocchio's Village Haus (they have a WHOLE room dedicated to Figaro) yesterday night was the first time I had done a CS in a really long time. It was so expensive, you might as well sit down.

I know, Friday is not the best day to go to the MVMCP, but I think it's the only choice for the group! Are you going to the MK for the day, (usually a good choice if you aren't going to the party). If you are, we will probably be there as soon as we are eligible (4:00 or so) so we would overlap for a couple of hours - maybe we could all meet up with you then? :confused3

Thanks, I think! The dwarfs come out sporadically at the partys in Fantasyland. You almost need to be at the right place at the right time. We just hopped in a long line waiting for nothing. They closed it off after about 10groups. I heard they were out at the Christmas party this year, but we didn't see them this time.

I agree w/ Sara. I'd book preferred so you don't get the Thanksgiving leftovers! I've never stayed at POP though so I wouldn't know what to ask for anyway! Michelle's in charge of our room!

Still no Marie Kitty?:sad2: You're right about the $$ for CS! Did you eat at Pinocchio's? Hurry home Kimmy and give us your thoughts!

Just checking on prices for things. I guess I'll get a 2 day non hopper. $148. Right now flights are running around $300! I hope they go down. The flight I'm looking at arives in Orlando on Thurs around 1:00 and leaves Sunday around 6:00. Party tickets go on sale May 1 and there is a party on Friday Dec 5.

Should I get a 3 day so we can go to AK on Friday, make rope drop, then head over to the party around 4:00. Then Epcot on Saturday and MGM on Sunday after our character bfast. That would give me about 5 1/2 hours in the park before I had to leave. Is it worth it? Just typing out my thoughts. It'll take December for me to get them together!

I don't know if 5 1/2 hours at MGM is worth it, Monica. If it were a longer stay and the extra day was only like $4 or $5 extra, I would say absolutely, but they really don't start discounting those subsequent days until you get up to the 4 day mark. Of course, I would love everyone to stay as long as possible - it would be great! But from a budget standpoint, I don't know if I could justify that much for MGM. It's got some great things, like BatB, GMR, Mermaid, RnRC (I might even ride it :rolleyes1 ), and of course TOY STORY MANIA! I'm fine with resort hopping and shopping that day, if that's what the majority wants to do. I'm sorry. I wasn't much help, was I? At least we have time to brainstorm all of this. And if you decide it is worth it, then you've got a while to come up with another $50 for that 3rd day. What's really frustrating is to go from a 3 day to a 4 day is only like $6! :headache:

I'd love to stay the day, but I have to think about being picked up at the airport and how much work Dave will have to take off! If I leave at 5ish I'd get home around 7ish and my mom could pick me up. I hate for you to miss MGM though. Even if we went to MGM on Fri instead of AK you'd miss the lights because we'd have to leave for the party. I hate to split up on Sunday, but we can. I really don't have the need to hit every park and I deffinitely don't want to tour commando style! I want a relaxing, hang out w/ my friends trip.

I may be at MK on Friday day. I'll know more when park hours posted and TGM posts his good days. There is a grand chance that it will be MK, since there is a PARTAY goin on there that PM. If you'll be in DTD, I very likely can try to be there too.

I am going to try to plot my days out based on LY info. I just may also sub to UG. I have been hearing good things about that one lately.

Hello all.

To answer Monica's questions of the day:

1. Teppen Edo is fine with me. I love Japanese food.

2. Park, 100% yes for Friday. I can already see that I'll definitely be planning to arrive on Thursday instead of Friday. I hope you guys don't keep adding to this trip--I don't have enough vacation to take an entire week off. :rotfl:

3. AK over DHS absolutely. I have an AP so I may jump over to DHS for a drop or two but that's the only thing I like at DHS so it's not worth an entire day there. I love AK. I think it's by far the most relaxing park with all of that greenery (and no strollers to navigate on those narrow pathways).

4. If you want to plan, Monica, go for it. Except for meals (which I take very seriously), I'm not a planner.

Kimmy, why do you think airfares will go down in August? What insight do you have? I'm asking because in addition to this Dec flight, I have to buy 12 tickets for Jan 09. If you've got some insider scoop that could save me a bundle, I'd sure like to know about it.

Hey Pakey. In Cleveland we have many airlines that fly direct to MCO. If I try to book my flights too early they are outrageous. 2-3 months is the perfect formula here. That formula does not work everywhere, but I have perfected it over the years. I have never paid over 200 bucks to go to Orlando. In December I have paid as little as 115 for the exact same dates for this year. I like Southwest and they do not have their fares out yet for that time.
I realize flights are only going to be going up, but I'm still gonna wait on Southwest.

The flights are currently about $300 more per person over what I paid for our flights 3 months ago. I'm stressing over how much that adds up to when you multiply 12 times. These days, I feel like I'm playing the stock market with making these airfare decisions.

**What's everyone's vote? (Vote even if you aren't sure if you're coming)**
1. Coral Reef or Teppan Edo
2. Park or no park on Friday?
3. AK or MGM on Friday? (We'll have to leave before lights are on at MGM)
4. Should Monica stop delegating?:rolleyes1

1. Teppan Edo ~ for the same reason as Monica~ my kids or Tom would never eat there!
2. PARK!!!
3. Either would be fine with me. I'd be perfectly content either way.
4. No... Monica should just be Monica ~ we like her that way! ;)

Anyone else tempted by the free dining?? I'm crunching some numbers right now! Only 3 nights required, I can do that.:sad2: :rotfl2: I need help!

Is it officially announced? I was supposed to be keeping an eye on that for Uncle John (he's on a cruise). Guess I should check it out, huh?

AK is good, seriously. I would also be content laying at the pool all day and then going to the party. MK from morning to night is a lot. We did that on the day of the Christmas party and we were exhuasted!

Well, that could be because you were trying to keep up with my 6 yr old!!!

Hot dog hot dog hot digity dog....

Thanks Monica!

You better get to work Nicole! I was just PMing with LAM712 and she booked hers this morning at 7:00am!

Jen, I forgot to answer you, but AK hours don't change much in December. We'd be leaving there before they closed anyways. I'm sure our plan will change 100 times before December, but it's coming along! We just need our meal plan by June so we can make ADRs for a big group.

Right now it for Disney Visa holders. I would prefer to not have to use that, but last year I waited too long and EVERY date I wanted was sold out!

I get a decent amount, but I'm really good at using it. It was from my years of retail. One of my good friends here works on Sundays and I work Saturdays, so we can arrange it so I work for her then she works for me. It has gotten me on a ton of little mini vacation with only using one day. I think we are going to go Sept 18-21, that will get me 3 parks and a MNSSHP and only ONE day of vacation will be used!

Nichole - Glad to hear you may be able to join us! :yay:

Jen - I know this has been answered already but I agree about booking the preferred room at POP. Our first year there we didn't and ended up in the furthest room possible. It was hard with a sleeping kid after a long day at the parks. I booked a preferred room for Monica and I in December.

Kimmy - Are you really staying for a week in December? You lucky dog!! :)

I'm very tempted to take DD out of school for a week instead of going over fall break the following month ;) like we planned. It's such a good deal. I wish it went inot October. Also we have friends that are going to Disney in October that we want to meet up with. They live in NJ so we don't see them much since we moved. Also the heat in September :crazy2: is gross, much worse than October. March weather was perfect.

So how was your trip?

My trip was FANTASTIC! Thanks for asking. We actually always go in March and it was pushed back to April and I would have to say the weather was that much better. I don't think I will be doing March again.
I went about four times in a row in August for a while. It's really not any worse down there then it is here at that time of year. I think I'm going to do the free dinning Sept 18-22. I have a lot going on here, so there is a chance I may not end up going in Sept.

Who else thinks they are going to have to bring an extra suitcase to accomodate the massive shopping they are planning on doing?:rolleyes1 My mom's already put in a request for a stuffed Minnie Mouse from World Showcase.

Question of the day: Name 2 resorts that you would love to hop to and check out.

I would love to visit Boardwalk and Poly.

That free dining sure is tempting! Maybe next year.

We have approx 2 months until we can make ADRs. Are we wanting to do a table service everyday? More than once a day?

I vote for TS every day, but we don't have to do more than one!

I think AK in the morning on Friday, say until lunch around 1:00 - somewhere sit-down. :confused3 Then a little relaxing before hitting the party. If we eat a big lunch, we can just get something on the "fly" at the party.

Then Epcot could be snacks and CS for the day with Japan (or whatever we decide) for dinner. Sunday, character breakfast somewhere, right?

This is making me hungry... I better go cook some dinner. I'll check in later..

Kimmy, congrats on the free dining and the free airfare. What a deal. Don't you just love it when you so easily justify another trip to WDW?

Resorts I'd most like to see: Well, I love GF and it's so neat at Christmas with the huge huge tree and the gingerbread house so that's one pick. And then I guess I'd pick BW because I haven't seen that one at Christmas time.

TS vs CS. I don't think it matters at all to me.

I'm wanting to travel with just my carryon so I'm hoping not to overshop. I guess it's going to depend on how well I shop in May.

I'm wanting to do gift bags for my adult kids for our Jan 09 trip. Anybody got any great ideas on what to do put in for adults? We'll be doing land/sea so it could be stuff for both parts of the trip. I've already bought so much stuff for my grandson that I think I'll have to UPS his gift bags down to WDW. :rotfl:

Pakey - I don't think I've heard all about your Jan 09 land/sea trip! Please fill me in! How many of you are going? Is it just your immediate family? Friends? Your grandson is going, right? You could give each couple a guide book. Especially if they're not that knowledgable(sp?) in all things Disney like us! Maybe a cool beach towel. (Or are you thinking smaller like gum and stuff?) Underwater cameras, Disney dollars, Disney themed water bottles.

Funny thing is Rainforest is not my favorite in DTD. Rain forest is Missa's top choice and I always agree. We ended up going twice because that was Missa's choice when we flew in and then my niece who is Missa's partner in crime wanted to go too as soon as she came in. I really like Fultons and I like Captain Jacks. I just tried Earls for the first time and really LOVED it! What I am dying to try is Raglan Road.

I have not eaten anywhere in DTD, unless you count Ghiradelli's  , so I'm up for any of those. :goodvibes Raglan, Fulton's, Earl, Capt Jacks - they all sound good to me!

Boma sounds good for AK day. It's buffet, right? So it wouldn't be as long as a regular Menu type place. Take it from me, eating with a large group can take a wee bit longer than a small group! I have experience. Even if we are all adults (and yes, I am using the term "adults" loosely! :lmao: )

I would say 2:00 or so would probably work. If we get to AK at opening (come on people, we can do it), we would have 5 hours or so, but if we eat any later than that, we might be pushing it to get back and change (if needed) for the party. I'm sure most everyone wants to get to the MK as soon as we can with our party tix, right? If we want more time at AK, we could forgo a TS meal, and just grab something quick at the AK.

Personally, if we are going to be out late for the party, I would rather have more of a "break" mid-day with our meal, than just eating "on the run", if you know what I mean? For me it would look something like:

RD at AK...tour till 2:00...Boma for late lunch...MK by 4:00...PARTY!

Thoughts?

It will be a long day, regardless...so I guess it's just up to what everyone thinks they can handle.

Sara, you plan sounds great to me! The thing is, I will have an AP so it doesn't matter to me. For those that are buying a 75 dollar one day ticket, that may not be enough time in a park for the money. We could always make a Sit down reservation in the AK and stay in there until around 4 or 5 and then swing on over to the MK. Speaking from experience the MK is at it's worst from 4p-7p. We were right there at 4p for the Pirate and Princess Party and we couldn't do anything without an outrageous line until after 6. There is no more fast passes for anything (they have all been given away) and everyone else not staying for the party is trying to get their fill before 7.

I would be one of those non-AP holders! ;) But I also would like to get my $ worth out of my party ticket and get to the MK as soon as possible. :confused3 It might be crowded from 4-7, but I feel I would rather be at the MK than the AK. That said, if you take into account the travel time between parks, and the time it would take if we want to eat somewhere TS at the AK, we would still be looking at 2:00 or so to eat, but the other option would be to eat a light lunch at the AK, and then leave to go to the MK and eat TS at the MK early (like 4:00 or so). I don't know, I'm just brainstorming here.

I'm going to go check out TGM's guidelines for the party, and see what he says. Those of you who aren't subscribed to TGM, (I think Nichole, Jen, and myself are the only ones that I KNOW are), You guys should really consider joining - it's not that much $ (especially in the scheme of things - it's less than a book) and he has great info. Really helpful people over there, I'm not an arm twister, but you should check it out. :goodvibes If you don't like it, he will refund your $20. I'm not a TGM fan. I subscribed and was highly disappointed. I'm sure he has some good information but over the months I tried and couldn't come up with anything I didn't know.
I have no problem going to the MK at four, but if we want to ride something, the lines are LONG ie the line for HM was 60 minutes, splash was 90, and space was 90. The only thing we did was Philharmagic and the Tiki room. I was just throwing that out there I'm going with the flow on this.

I just remembered that Boma doesn't have lunch so their ADRs don't start until 5, so that won't work. I'm not a take a break kind of girl so going back to the resort isn't appealing to me. However, if some people want to leave AK at 1 that's fine. We don't have to spend every waking second together!:rotfl: We could split up and meet back up at Mk around 5 or so. What about Yak and Yeti around 3, then head to MK? I haven't checked out their menu yet, but I've heard its good. Or we could eat an early Pizzafari lunch, then a 4:30 ADR at Liberty Tree. I haven't been there and Pakey probably hasn't been cause its a character meal. We'd probably want to catch the 1st Twas the Night show which starts at 7:00 and we'll want to be in line by 6:30.

Seriously? Wow! I've actually never met someone who has not been able to learn something from TGM. (Although I have read DIS threads about it, just never knew anyone personally. Of course I've learned to take a lot of the DIS threads with a grain of salt - you read enough of them and think "why do these people even GO to Disney, they don't sound like they like it?" :confused3 ) But there are people over at TGM, who post questions and need advice that actually work for Disney-type sites like mousesavers, the moms panel for Disney (that cracked me up), allears, etc, etc... and they still have questions and like the advice.

But back to our trip, I wouldn't dare try to ride any of the biggies at that hour - I would mostly be there for "fillers" and for soaking up the atmosphere, and maybe eat. Especially if that is our only MK day! :sad2: Gotta get in as much of the MK as possible! I love me some MK!

AK early until 3, no breaking, MK until midnight? :rotfl2: I can roll with that, :rotfl: but we will be tired - Epcot might be a late start the next day, don't ya think? Or we can just not sleep and go straight to the gates at Epcot after we leave the party! We will surely be picked for family of the day then! :lmao:

I think that plan sounds good though. I've read good things about Yak and Yeti (can't get over that name though). I hear they have a good drink called the Yak Attack! :lmao: Did anyone think of how that would sound? :confused3

Sara

Have you forgotten that I'm the one with who drove 16 hours all night to Disney, dropped off out stuff in the room, then headed to the Christmas party til midnight? Whoever wants to take a break can. I just prefer not to. Not commando, just enjoying every second, and penny I can! I'll rest on the plane ride home!!

As for the family of the day. We all sure make a very interesting family!

Kimmy, what do you think of Yak N Yeti? You order the yak, I'll order the Yeti!:lmao: I know! We can set a world record for how many times a bunch of drunk girls can ride Expedition Everest in a row!!

**For those of you who aren't familiar with us. Non of us really drink!

We really liked Yak and Yeti. My Siamese cats nicknames are Yak and Yeti, so I like the name :lmao:

No, not forgetting. You are kind of crazy! I always find it ironic when "not" going commando is mentioned, but then followed up with a very commando plan! :lmao: Maybe we have different ideas of going commando? :confused3 (That didn't sound right - we ALL will wear underwear, right? :rotfl: ) I'm not dead set on breaks - I just mention them because I've never done them! I was with a very anti-break person last time, remember? People who take them swear by them though. Even without kids! I'm a night owl, so I have no problem with the nights. And the only time in my life that I am a morning person is at Disney - because I know what a big difference it can make in your day!

I can go commando, but I am bringing underwear! ;)

I would definitely be yakking AT the yeti if I rode EE right after a Yak Attack! Or anything for that matter! :rolleyes1

I define commando as no undies and having detail planned as to what ride at what time. I think you still have to be a little commando (with undies on) no matter what, or nothing will get done. Ya know?? That's why this thread is so great we get to throw ideas on the table for months and hopefully will come up with the best plans ever!
I think with all the knowledge between us we could take TGM down! :rotfl: :lmao:

I agree 100% :thumbsup2 with this. It's great to have a plan! If I get to go with you all then Bomas sounds great to me. I have always wanted to eat there but with my fussy eating family it's never on the list. I'm happy to just go with the flow and let others do the planning for a change  .

Wow, you guys have been busy again this morning. Such a shy quiet bunch, aren't we?

First of all, I'll have my underwear. At least I hope so. You know with my last minute packing, who knows what will be forgotten this time. :rolleyes1 I've never went with a plan at all, no TGM, nothing.

DTD, the only places I have eaten are at Portabello Yacht Club and Wolfgang The Dining Room (Upstairs) and Wolfgang's Cafe (Downstairs). I've eaten at Rainforest at other locations and it's not one of my favorites--too noisy to talk in there. I'm fine with lobster tails and I'd even be okay with whole lobsters as long as they don't have tanks or bring them out live. That I cannot do.

I've eaten at Yak/Yeti and thought it was pretty good but it is on the expensive side. If you guys pick this, make sure you check the menus and are okay with the prices. Also, Yak/Yeti does not accept the DDE discount card. And I have eaten at LTT (before it was a character meal) and also thought it was decent. It's on my list of places for the Jan 09 grandson trip because I think the adults would like that one okay too.

I love BOMA. It's my favorite non-signature place. I love slapping on the feed bag and mowing down that buffet line.

Yes, I do believe I'll be coming in on Thursday instead of Friday. With the airfare prices, it just makes more sense to get an extra day out of the trip, especially since I have an AP anyway.

Monica, I have not forgotten about the spiral shirts. I most definitely want to do those for my Jan 09 gift bags so please try to find the pics/details. I may need to start now. I'll probably have to do at least 20 practice ones before I figure it out. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, kwim?

Thanks for the gift bag ideas. I liked all of them. I had considered those passporters so maybe I'll do that. I'd love it if those kids would book and pay for their own excursions.

Sara, Mo and I take our adult kids and their families on vacation every other year. Last year we went to Maui. 3 times before that was WDW. Next up is the land/sea in Jan 09. 4 days at WDW and then the 3 day DCL. I have a boatload of DVC points so we are all staying DVC, 5 rooms, 12 people total. Then I booked 5 staterooms on the DCL. Mo and I got a nice room with a verandah, the kids are going to be in the belly of the ship. I told them that if they wanted upgraded rooms, they could pay the difference and not one took me up on the offer. :rotfl: It will be our grandson, Clayton's, first trip (he'll be 3 and a half). Our two younger boys (one of which is Clayton's dad) are not big Disney fans so that's why I decided to try the cruise this time since they think 7 days at WDW is too much. Of course, when they start picking up the tab, they can choose any destination they want.

I meant to ask yesterday, what does a preferred room at POP get you? I've never seen this place so I have no clue.

Glad you all got the plans all figured out while I was out...:lmao:

All the DTD choices sound good - I looked at all the menus and they all sound good. I've never been to Raglan Road, Fultons or Captain Jacks. Maybe we can find the one that none of us have been to and try that?

Yak & Yeti looks yummy too. I like Asian food but if someone in the group doesn't it may be too much with that and Japan in Epcot. The other option would be to eat an early CS at AK (Pizzafari ?) and then an early
TS dinner at MK before the party starts.

Pakey - A preferred room at POP gets you in one of the buildings closest to the main building. Worthwhile if you ask me. I don't mind walking but we'll be doing plenty of that during the day.

I'm just a go, go, go kind of person. It's not just a Disney thing. To me taking a vacation at the beach and just sitting there in the sand day after day would be pure torture! Like I said, we can always split up.

I'll be checking out some menus. Yak N yeti might not work for me. I'm leaning towards the CS lunch at AK, and TS dinner at MK. However, Michelle and I are adicted to Pizzafari's chicken parmasean sandwich so we're a little biased!

I couldn't agree more about the sitting on the beach thing. Ugh. For one day, sure, but a whole trip of that would be excruciating! I'm usually more tired from doing nothing, than from doing something.

I think a nice, sit-down meal (wherever it is) can definitely serve as a "break" kind of thing. Just something to do that doesn't involve walking or jockeying for a table at a CS place. What are the other options at MK for TS? Tony's, CP and LTT? What am I missing? Of those, I have only eaten at CP. LTT would be fun I guess. :confused3

The Plaza and Cinderella's.

Maybe we shouldn't do LTT since Pakey will be going the next month. The menu doesn't appeal to me much. I don't care for Thanksgiving food.

I love CP, but have never been for dinner. I think we all need to read some menus at regroup!

This cracked me up. We have been to Hawaii 3 times, 3 diffrent islands. Mo and the boys and now our DIL's all love Hawaii. Both of the married boys did the tropical honeymoons, one went to Jamaica and one went to Fiji. I just don't get it. Now Mo is saying, maybe we should try another island. How many do we have to try? People, it's still an island. There's nothing to do.

I don't much care for LTT, myself. The Plaza and Cindy's isn't usually open for parties. That pretty much leaves Tonys and CP and that is sometimes not open for parties either.
I don't really like any of the MK restaurants, but I would be willing to give Tony's another try.

Been reading menus, and here's what I got so far: (Please forgive my pickiness! Pick what restaurant you want, and I'll just grab a turkey leg somewhere!:rotfl:)

-The only thing that I would eat at Fulton's cost $40, and I can't spend that kind of $$ on a meal.

-Same thing w/ Raglan Road, but I could find something there.

-Captain Jack's would be OK

-Earl of Sandwich is the most appealing to me at DTD, then we could go to Ghiradelli's later.

-Or shop DTD in the afternoon, then go to Boma for dinner.

Back to menus, or I could clean the house I guess!

We could do an early lunch or late breakfast on Friday and then have a late lunch or early dinner at a monorail resort - both Poly and GF sound good! Good way to get a meal and check out a resort at the same time. There will be plenty of cookies at MK in the evening if we need more food!

Or, we could do an early breakfast at AK (before park opening) and then something else later.

Or, Plaza at MK sounds interesting. But I think it is pretty small and loud in there - maybe not good for our group.

We could even just get CS at either Poly or GF and just enjoy the resorts.

So many options!!! Will we just bring our MVMCP shirts with us and change before the party?

I think we definately need a girls weekend shirt - either the crazy princesses or the speak/hear/see no evil one. Both are great! I think we should wear something Christmassy (is that a word?) for the party but we don't have to all match if we don't want to. Might be a pain to make so many shirts? Actually, we went to the MK on our first day of our Thanksgiving trip, which was a Sunday, and it was one of his top choices for the morning.

That's what I love about his stuff - he doesn't just generalize the days based on the year and historical information. Since Disney has changed their EMH days to now vary month to month - it's impossible to generalize. So that's why he does his ratings within the month, after Disney posts their park hours. That's what gives him an edge in my book. Sunday isn't always good to go, but it isn't always bad either! Love those LCCs! :yay:
