I make a family scrapbook and keep switching the journaling from first person to third person (i.e. "Laura did . . ." to "I did . . . ") when talking about myself.
What does everyone else do in their scrapbooks, first person or third person journaling? Does this even make sense?

I do it in the first person. I think of my scrapbooks as like a personal journal with pictures.
The only exception would be if I make a special album for someone else (like the kids) where it's really in the second person (and I'd refer to myself in the third.)

If it is a family album. I do first person. It's my story and it just goes easier that way. When I am working on one for a group, church, heritage, etc. I do third person. I have found I occasionally switch, too. I also think that any journaling I get on a page is good- I leave that for last and have too many pages with a blank spot for journaling......

::yes:: I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Journaling is so important, but it's not nearly as fun as the paper and accessories for me.

I use first person. But the first rule of scrapbooking is that there are NO RULES! So whatever you feel like using, go for it.

I also use first person. I haven't made albums for anyone else yet, but I plan to after WDW this summer. When I do that album, I will use 3rd person.

I use first person as well. It just was more natural to me and like someone else said it is like a journal to me.

I use 3rd person in my scrapbooks and my trip reports. 50 years down the road they may not realize who "I" is.

I use first as well. I think of the books as though they are diaries of my life. I don't label the pictures either, so if somehow the books outlive not only me but my kids as well, then my future generations will just have to guess what is going on. ;)
