I posted this on cruisecritic but haven't gotten any response so I decided to try it on my "home" boards. :D It was in response to a woman who asked if her 18-year-old son, who was bored by adult activities, could participate in the teen programs..

On the other end of the spectrum, would a 17 and 11 months-old on a trip to celebrate her graduation who has no interest at all in the teen activities be able to participate in the adult activities instead? Such as the behind the scenes workshops, walk-a-mile, etc? Obviously not the bars, wine tastings, etc. The whole teen thing does not appeal to me - "DJ Training" and "Junkanoo Jam" and all that.. I'm more quiet and not the party type and I'd be much more interested in learning about the history of the ship and doing more educational things like that. Has anyone had a teenager who has felt the same way?

i did the cruise for my senior spring break and had fun just hanging out. all the teen activities arent required of course, there is always a ton to do in CG. I know that in the kid programs you can move down in ages, but you cant move up (EG a 10 year old can be wtih the 8-9s but a 9 year old cant be with the 10-12s)

i recommend that he try CG and if he doesnt like em, just have him tag along wtih you at events until someone says something.

once i met a few kids my age, i started to love the cruise... there arent a ton of older teens around, but once ya meet em... its fun! :)

Amy,
It shouldn't be a problem for you to partake in the activities which you mentioned. Just mention your age (don't lie) when you arrive for the activity and ask if it is okay for you to join in.

Thanks Jody :) I'm very well-behaved, LOL.. I can't imagine them minding too much, or at least I hope not.

Dear Amy

My DH and I are going on the Disney Magic with no children. Speaking as an "Adults" only cruiser, we would not mind if an almost 18 year old joined in some of the activities. Sometimes, they're better behaved then some of the adults. LOL

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the kids clubs let your child move up to the next group if they are within a month of their birythday. At 17.11 you are within that range as long as it holds true for the adult activities. I certainly would have no problem with you participating. Good Luck!

Lisa :)

yes, 18 yo are allowed to go in the teen place because when i was on there was this one 18 yo girl who went in and out with adult and teen activites. also, the teen activities are fun so dont be afraid to try some of the dances and things like that. any other questions ask!!

We have seen all ages participating in the Walk a Mile, and when we were on the Magic (although it was over a year ago), lots of people brought their kids to the workshops. These were younger kids, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind an almost-18!!

Thanks Barb! That definitely encourages me.. the teen activities just seem a little "young" for me so I'm glad I have the option of doing the things which interest me more :)
