We just received our cruise documents for 4/14. This is our first cruise.

In the documents it says they do not allow personal coolers on board. Yet I have read on these boards that many people bring coolers. Is the ban I read about new or is it one that they have had for a long time but don't enforce?

I was thinking about bringing a soft sided cooler with a couple of cases of soda for the whole family before I read this. In the room I could just unpack the cooler and fill it up.

We were on the 2/23/02 Magic sailing and we brought our small collapsible cooler with us. I had it packed in my suitcase and we stopped at the store and brough a six-pack of soda and two bottle of wine that I packed in my carry-on. Even with three teens, it was hard for us to finish the six-pack!!! They seemed to gravitate towards the water at the beverage station. Said is satisfied them better. Boy, was I happy to hear that!!!

I also brought along zip-lock bags and had our room steward bring us ice when needed and used that to keep items cold on the cooler when doing shore excursions.

Disney does not want hard-sided coolers and seem to let the soft-sided ones onboard.

we brought a soft sided cooler and a few cases of soda with us on our 7 day cruise and they didn't say a thing about it! it's a great thing to have and it really comes in handy a lot!
