I'll start this one. We rebooked onboard for one year from the last cruise. Can't wait but planning makes the waiting easier.
Who else is on this one?

We will be on this one as well! Hard to believe that it is nearly one year away. Anyway, it will be me (Amy, age 30), my dh (Eric, age 40), my ds (Bennett, age 6), my dd (Lindsay, age 3), my ds (unknown name, arrival in July, 2008), and my mom (Gail, age 59). Well, I guess we will all be a year older then as everyone will have a birthday except Bennett, he will have his 7th aboard the Magic. We have cruised before, but never on DCL. People think I am nuts to go with three kids, one being an infant. At any rate, I think we will be fine. Looking forward to getting to know others and learning more about what not to miss!

That sounds great! I wish I had taken mine when they were little. It's definately the best family vacation we have ever taken. It will be a challenge with three little ones, but isn't everything?

Hi Amy,
I tried to post a reply to the Private Message you sent me, but I was told I didn't have enough posts to, and I need even more posts to send you an e-mail. I hope you get this! I am so sorry I did not reply to your message, I had thought that I would get an e-mail when someone replied. It was my first time posting, so I'm still learning. As I said, this will be a family vacation for 12!!! My brother's in-laws are DVC members, but for Boardwalk and Saratoga, I believe. We wanted to make this a more "budget-conscience" trip, however, and so we chose to stay at Old Key West. My brother goes 4 times a year! I haven't been in 20 years and when I was in Orlando it was for a day, while passing through. I hope you still have points available! Are you able to send me an e-mail so we can talk more? I left my sister-in-law a message to ask what amount of points we need, so I'll get back to you asap. I believe it will be 210-224, but I will find out for sure. Thanks again!!!

Great to see so many chiming in so early! We are on the Magic right now! But ready to start planning the next one in just a few short days. If you want, come on over to the trip reports board and read about our Mexican Riviera trip going on right now. It's been a lot of fun reporting almost live what we have been doing. Even though it's not the same cruise, a lot of it is similar and it's still fun sometimes to live vicariously through trip reports.
See you all next March.  :goodvibes

We just got back from 4 days on the Wonder and loved it so much we booked on ship for spring break.

This is so great. I love planning a new cruise. We actually have done the Western twice before, so we are looking forward to more ship time and less excursion time. We love our days at sea and even talked about how nice a cruise to nowhere would be. We may not even get off the ship next year. Time will tell.
We just got back from the Mexican Riviera cruise. It was really wonderful and we loved the ports.
If everyone wants to post their specificas, I will start making a list...

Disneymom92 - 6587 - My sis and my DD16

How old are your kiddos? We have done the dolphin encounter in Cozumel through DCL and the dolphin swims on our own and enjoyed them all. In Grand Cayman we did a tour, don't remember the name, but it was just ok, not wonderful. Last cruise we missed Grand Cayman because of weather, so we didn't get to do whatever we had planned there (don't remember what it was, so apparently we didn't really care). In Key West, we did the trolley tour the first time. This time we rented an electric car and tooled around the city and had a great time. One Castaway Cay, the first year we didn't do excursions, just enjoyed the island. This time we did the stingray encounter, and really enjoyed that. I think whatever you choose, you will have a great time.

Hi, Everyone!
This is our first 7 night cruise and we (well mostly me!) are already really excited. We are in cabin 6099. I would have loved a veranda, but decided to try to keep the cost down by booking inside. We had the same cabin on the Wonder last December and it worked out fine for us.
Traveling with my DH and I are our two boys ages 4 & 5. We recently added a cabing for my DH's Grandparents who wanted to join us. I would love to hear any suggestions for excursions that older folks might enjoy.
Since I added their room recently, they had to be waitlisted for Main seating at dinner. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this waitlist and knows what our chances are for having main seating open up for them.

I have never been on a Disney cruise before, so I really have no suggestions. But, my kids are close to your kids ages! I have a 4 year old girl and a 6 year old boy (who will be closer to 7 by then). Also, my mom is coming with us, so your parents won't be the only grandparents there! It felt so far away when we booked in March. Not too bad now. We are a cat.12 guarantee, so no idea as to stateroom yet.

Welcome to both of you! This will be our 4th DCL cruise, 3 of them westerns! :goodvibes We have enjoyed every one of them. My kids are older (13 and 16) but they still love cruising Disney. We believe this is a great family vacation because the kids have the option of the great programs for them, giving the adults alone time if they want it, sometimes more than they want if the kids are outgoing and comfortable in the kids club!
As far as excursions, what do the grandparents like? Are they adventurous or do they have trouble getting around? Do they like beaches? If no one has visited the location, a general tour might be fun, at least one or two places. Cozumel is a great place to shop, if they like that. We did our dolphin excursions there, on our own, if you are interested in that.
Feel free to ask questions. I will try to answer them if I can.

Sorry it took me so long to find this thread. We have a group of friends/family going on this cruise! Our party consists of myself, DD(9), Bff, her DH, her DD(13) and DS(9). Also, her MIL and FIL from Scotland! We booked this while on the Easter four day cruise on the Wonder this year. We will be in the parks for a few days before (kids have two weeks off!).
I have been to Key West and Grand Cayman for land vacations, but have never been to Mexico. We are all excited to do another cruise. We are hopefully doing the Dolphin swim too. We haven't decided if we are going to do a scheduled outing in GC or Key West. I have been a few times to both places and are very comfortable being tour guide for the group.
We should schedule a Dis meet on board!

Good Evening.
Good to see some posts.:thumbsup2
Well, we have signed up for the Dolphin excursion at Cozumel also.
This is the the first time for us to do that.
We have been to Cozumel twice. Did the Xcaret Ecopark and 4 wheel drive/beach thingie.
Been trying to add excursions for Castaway and Grand Cayman, but no luck. Too much server traffic I guess. Will try later.
It's hard to believe that the cruise is getting so close.
We just did the 5 night back in September.
Lots of people we knew on that one. Know no one on this cruise. Yet.

Hi everyone,
I've never posted here before, but I had to chime in that my family will be on this cruise too: DH, DS 10, me. We did the 7-day Western about a month ago on Nov 29, and we had so much fun that we booked onboard for this one during Spring Break. We're really looking forward to it, especially because the weather prevented us from tendering at Grand Cayman on the last cruise, so we'll be glad to experience that this time. On this one, we've booked the White Knuckle Boat Ride for Key West, the Boatswain's Beach Adventure Marine Park for Grand Cayman, and the Four Elements Mayan Adventure for Cozumel. Anyone done any of those? We also booked the Personal Watercraft Tour for Castaway Cay for my DH and DS. They did it on the last cruise and had a blast, so they wanted to do it again. (Fine by me....gives me another chance to order a Conk Cooler and relax by myself on the beach.)
Glad to meet everyone.

We'll be on this one for Spring Break. Me, DW, DD(13), DD(9). We've been to WDW many times, since my mom lives in Sarasota. But, this will be our first Disney Cruise. My wife and I cruised on RCCL a couple times, years ago, before kids.
July 2009 is our 25th wedding anniversary; we've been wanting go on a Disney Cruise for some time. We decided on a family cruise with DCL to celebrate our anniversary (even though a few months early).
We just told the kids on Christmas day. They opened a box with DCL brochure, DVD, and a couple door magnets I made.
Have not booked excursions yet, but am considering Captain Marvin's tour of Stingray City and a snorkelying stop in GC, followed by seven mile beach on our own.
Hard to believe this will be here soon.

Hello Everyone! I haven't posted here in quite a while.
We're so excited about our upcoming cruise! We have one ds who will be 6 and another ds who will be 4 1/2. Our last cruise was a little over a year ago.
As for excursions, we're doing the island tour on Grand Cayman, Nachi Cocum on Cozumel, and the personal watercraft tour for my DH and I on Castaway Cay. At this point however, the thing I am most excited about is the warm sun!

Good Morning All
Yesterday morning it was -21ºF actually and a windchill of -40ºF. (that would be -30ºC and -42ºC). That was on top of 4" of snow.
Today is to be much better.
30º at WDW. Not much magic when it is that chilly.

Got all of the arrangements made for this cruise.
DVC came thru with a night at AKV before the cruise.
Will do the disney transportation. That takes care of moving the luggage around.
We will do a pirate extravaganza at GC and swim with the dolphins at Cozumel.
Key West will be .......Key West.
Castaway will be a lazy day at the beach.
Just waiting for the next few weeks to pass.
After that cruise it will probably be 2011.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. I think everyone on this one will be new for us.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.:wave2:

Hi all - as I look outside to yet more snow and cold (but not as cold as Bobandee; at least it's in the double digits today) I wanted to catch up with everyone here. It does look like we have a few 9yr old young ladies attending. I know mine will be looking forward to finding a few friends to hang out with. Our friends will have a 9 yr DS and their 13 yr old DD too.
BobandLee -Can we use your experience to help plan a meeting on board? Last year on the 4 day cruise the Dismeet was right before the sail away party. It was so crowded on deck that I never found the group. In your past cruises what seemed to work?
FYI - I have been to Grand Cayman numerous times. The stingray tour is worth it only if you are not deathly afraid of sea creatures. They knock you around and flap all over you. My dd never left the boat and I had to be helped back by our tour guide. We did a private boat during an off time (cruise ships not in that day) so I didn't embarrass myself to badly. Maybe when there are alot of bodies in the water it won't be as bad. They seemed to gang up on me - :scared: . Either way, Capt. Marvins has a good reputation.

You're right amybethchristiansen! I hope we can all find the time to meet at the beginning of the cruise!
On our last cruise, my ds 6 loved going to the kids club. My younger one didn't like going as much. I have a feeling that won't be the case this year, however.
Yesterday, we made a paper chain so we could countdown the days until we leave. That chain is a lot longer than I thought it would be! I hope the time goes by quickly!!

.....
:lmao: my experience?:lmao:
O.K., on the last four cruise we have done, our group was very fortunate to have folks willing to plan stuff. Not me.
Basically, we had a short meet at about 3:30 before the muster drill to kinda get to know each other.
Then after the drill, the group met again at about 4:30 for the sailaway.
The meeting spot was on deck 10, starboard (right, facing front). Seems like it worked.
Some folks seemed to really enjoy it, others not so much.
This cruise, I will be a little more low key since the kids will be with us.
On past cruises, we had lanyards and/or t-shirts to recognize each other. But that might be a bit much considering the participation on this thread.
So, I guess we will just have to mill around and try and figure out who is who.
Whatever happens, I am sure that it will be a fun cruise.

Bob and Lee - 10 cruises makes you an expert in my eyes! I like the idea of deck 10. Last year we tried to meet on deck 9 in the thick of things. Kinda crazy!
With all the different age groups (by the way Amybeth what is the new additions name?) it will be easier to find each other. Being the organizer that I am (okay you can laugh - I'm the president of our parents association at school!), is everyone okay with a meeting at 4:30 deck 10 starboard for the sail-away party? I will put a LGMH on my lanyard.
I know Disneymom92 has a few western cruises under her belt, so we would love to hear from you too. Anyone else with any meeting ideas?
ps - 5 more inches of snow last night - the shoreline of CT never gets this much. In nine weeks we will all be in Grand Cayman!:beach:

Are you doing the Dolphin swin at Dolphinaris or Chankanaab? Thinking of letting the kids do the dolphin swim. Would like to get to a beach after that...maybe with Waverunners/jet skis. It appears we would need to move on to Paradise Beach or like beach for that. Wondering if you have a recommendation on this.

No recommendation. We are doing this one....
Dolphin Discovery Cozumel (CZ-04) Get up close and personal to dolphins in an interactive encounter you'll never forget. After a 20-minute taxi ride to Chankanaab National Park, take in an informative orientation and receive your lifejacket. Then, immerse yourself in three feet of water for a fun-filled 30-minute encounter where you're invited to touch and play with these gentle creatures of the deep.
We chose this one mainly because of the kids. Disney rates this one as "mild".
I assume that it will be similar to what is in this video....<VIDEO> (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlXSgMt5CFY)
I found this here on the board...<POST> (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1891488) and <POST> (http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=17788948&postcount=36)
Supposedly, both places are good. Hope that helps.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond back to everyone. To say that it has been crazy here is an understatement. Both of my kids are competitive dancers which makes this a busy time of year anyway. Our dance director looked at the calendar and decided that since we were off school two whole weeks this year because of how the holidays fell, she decided to give us the first one off! Totally off. We were so way excited we booked a trip to WDW on the spot. It was the first time being back in several years, really since we began cruising.
Long story short, I had all that planning to do plus working to get ahead at work so I could afford to take off without too much time on the laptop and THEN keeping up with dance stuff. Whew, glad that's over.
We have done the Chankanaab tours both with Disney and on our own. We liked the one on our own so much better. With Disney, it was an passive thing where we stood on a ledge and the dolphin swam next to us. The one on our own was really cool, you actually swam with the dolphin. Fun fun.
This cruise it was kind of fun to have the excursion date come and go with no worries. We are making NO plans. If we want to get off and mill around a little, that's fine, but our plans are really to stay on board while everyone else is running themselves crazy, we will enjoy the ship. My DS13 said he felt like he really didn't get to do as much on the ship as they would have liked.
DIS meet: the time we met on 10th deck before the drill was the best. Everyone incorporated a LGMH on their person in some way. It was comfortable to come by and meet without feeling you had to linger too long or were missing something else that you really wanted to do. Last year we met in the buffet, I think on Sunday, and there were some who had to miss for various reasons. We never met some of the people who we had talked with the most. That was a bummer. My vote is for 10th deck either before drill or before sail away party.
We have a dummy trip planned that we are moving to summer 2010 so that we can do a back to back eastern and western, hopefully. Otherwise we have been on 2 westerns and 1 Mexican Riviera. We missed Grand Cayman one year because of rough seas, but they made the day so special onboard we were almost happy it was cancelled. :guilty:
Can't wait to meet everyone. We are really excited for this cruise.

Hi DisneyMom. We are sorta neighbors. We are 200 miles north of ya.
We decided on the Disney dolphin excursion mainly because of the kids and the convenience factor. When it has been just us, we have done several excursions on our own. Key West and Captain Marvins in GC come to mind.
Doesn't matter to us when the group meet is. But, I think that I will have to head down to deck 9 with the girl for the dancing and countdown.:scared1:

We have a 14 yr old dd and also a six yr old grandson travelling with us. They each would like to meet someone close to their age to share some activities. Our gs6 wasn't eager to try the oceaneers club last year on the three day cruise because he didn't know anyone there.
It would be great to set something up at the initial meet.

Welcome Calgary 4 to our little group! We will have a 13 year old with us and magicron has a dd13 too. Amybethchristiansen has a ds7 and momfromva has a ds5 so there is some overlap with your kids.
So, if no one objects, let's move our first meeting to Deck 10 Starboard before the safety drill. That usually starts at 4pm, so lets say 3pm. That will give us 45 min. to meet before we have to don our lovely orange horseshoe rings. I will have my LGMH on and will try to have some other sort of sign.
I will also be at this same general location for the sail away party if anyone misses the first gathering. I was down on deck 9 last March and that was enough for me. I will dance and wave from the comfort of deck 10 with a frozen drink in my hand. FYI - my cabin # is 7622, but no knock and runs (I have a feeling BobandLee would be the culprits . . . just a feeling):)

We'll be there. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Calgary4, My boys will spend a lot of time in the kids clubs (aka "the boys playroom" as it's known around our house). So they will have some friends there.
I won't get to go to the sail away party. My boys don't like the lound music at all. We are planning on taking them back to their great grandparent's cabin (with verandha) and watch from there. I just hope I will be able to hear the horn from there!
Tinkbellfan, we are down the hall from you on deck 7 in #7541.

Okay I'm officially excited. I ordered a few "summer" items on-line today for the cruise and the few days in the parks before hand. Our whole gang will be at VWL arriving on the Wednesday before the cruise. That will give us our "fix" of the parks before we go.
huntbrown - how old is dd and ds?
momfromva - is the grandparents cabin near yours? The only viewing of the wave goodbye is on starboard. If you are out on the veranda you will hear the horn. You can also take the boys to the secret deck on deck 7. The sail-away party can get very loud, that's why deck 10 is my choice this year.
Disneymom92 - Grand Cayman has a pretty high "failure to tender" rate from what I have been reading. I've visited a few times (land vacations) and there is at least one day during the week when it is too rough to tender in. I'm glad to hear that they make it a special day on-board if that happens. It's too bad they can't build a dock big enough for the cruise ships. It is a really great place to visit and the snorkeling is really good.
Bobandlee - we are doing the same Dolphin discovery. I'll buy the first round of after swim libations.

Well with your dd9, we certainly have a good group of "tweens" and I think we have a few ds in the 5 to 6 year old range. I think it will be a good mix!
I think my group has decided to play Grand Cayman by ear and go to Rum Point or Seven Mile beach if it's nice with a stop at the butterfly farm beforehand (on our own - no tours). I truly love the butterfly farm. It is small, but very well done. If the sea is rough at Seven Mile,we will head over to Rum Point. If the weather isn't beach weather, we will hit the botanical gardens for a little "walk about" (most of our group is from the UK) and lunch at a good restaurant (The Wharf).

I was brought up with the idea that grandparents can do anything they want with the kids(ie. any purchases, candy, spoiling rotten) and then hand them back to the parents with no explanations!
Okay - libations can be held to a minimum, but I'm still buying!

Hi to all,
We just booked on Friday, but it took me a few days to find this site and the rollcall. It's our 11th cruise - 3rd with Disney- and our 1st 7day with Disney. We live in Bradenton, Fl., so we're not too far away from the port.
My husband and I are traveling with our 15 year old daughter and 7 year old son. We are in cabins 1071 and 1073 - inside connecting. This is our first experience with an inside cabin, but we decided it would be worth it as we've seen the ports before and we really need the extra space (again traveling with our 15 year old daughter - who brings EVERYTHING- if you looked, you might even find the kitchen sink.) Her only limitation is that she has to be able to push, pull, or otherwise strap it to her body. LOL.
I didn't remember that this site existed - have tripped across it in years before for info when going to WDW, but this is a first for the cruise. We have always chatted on cruisecritic (probably not cool to mention), but this site is pretty much set up the same. Anyway, I wondered why their roll call was a bit slow  : - DUH! you are all here.

Thanks for the welcome! We are very excitedly planning and searching some of the lists. It's our 3rd DCL cruise and our 11th cruise overall. Iloveokw - I think I recognize your name from that other board, too. Your daughter and my daughter would have a lot to talk about - mine is 15 and this will be her 10th cruise. She is valiantly striving to keep up with your daughter and faithfully starts whining as soon as summer is over that it has been tooooooo long since her last cruise - spoiled child.
BobandLee - glad to know someone actually read that post - especially since I accidentally wiped it out the first time when I was looking up the final address to put in - ARGHHHHHH!!!!! Heck, after this winter we are having now in Chicago, I would take the Washington DC winter any day. I went to college in DC and spent a year of high school out there too (was a page for Congress). I would always laugh because the whole city shuts down for like an inch of snow.
And heck, I'll throw a snowball at our person from FL. I had to lmao when you said that 50's was chilly. Heck, at 50 degree weather, my kids wear shorts and are starting to ask when we can open the pool! Speaking of my pool, I can't even see it in my back yard. The snow drifts are so high that my 24 foot round pool that is 5 feet high can not be seen at all. Great! And one of the high winds did something to the power for my hot tub, and it is now an ice tub. Another great! Have to wait until things thaw to deal with that. At the rate we are looking, I ought to be able to look at this come May!
Only 51 more sleeps til we get to leave for FL! How is everyone getting to the port? We are staying the night before at the Hyatt MCO and are trying to figure out what to do. We would totally be taking Disney transport, but it bugs me that they want to charge for my 9 month old. He will be in our LAPS, not taking any room. Why do we have to pay for him?

We are a large party (8 total) that is staying at the VWL for three days before the cruise. We have always used a towncar service (Tiffany's) back and forth to the resort, port and airport. I like having my own transportation and timing and the ME charges to the port would be almost the same as getting a van to take us. You also don't have to rush (as much) off the boat at the end of the cruise.
My husband, 7 year old son (will be 8 in May) and myself are from Woodstock, IL and are sick and tired of snow and cold and are ready for the cruise.

Nothing has changed. We still shut down at the mere mention of snow. Yesterday, the local news channels extended their broadcasts due to "Winter Storm 2009". Do people in Chicago run out for milk and toilet paper before it snows too? :confused3
As of today, we are planning to drive down and stay at the Radisson in Port canaveral the night before we leave. I have been watching the air fares drop so we may fly down. If we do, I was thinking about staying at the Hyatt at MCO the night before and taking the disney transfers both ways.

Hi,
I hope all of you up north are safe and warm during the awful storm. I've got to call and talk to my dad in Dayton today to see how they are doing.
Anyway, hopefully you all have power and are just going out to walk the dog!
I'm so glad the Beagle has a path - I can remember the dog we had when I was a child coming in with ice balls on her fur after the blizzard in '78. She was small and never thrilled with snowdrifts. Our 4 dogs here are just as spoiled as we are and do not like to go out when the temperature dips, but on the other hand, they do their business quickly and fight to get in the door 1st. That is a treat!
I hope the weather is nice and warm when you make it to Disney and your hotels before the cruise. You all deserve it!

My mom and stepfather built a place in Lakewood Ranch...post office is technically Bradenton, FL. They spend about 6-7 months a year there; we go down to visit 2-3 times a year. We'll stop in to see them before heading over to the Cape to catch the Magic.
Planning on Captain Marvin's for Stingrays at GC. Chankanaab for Dolphins in Cozumel. Hope to get some beach time at those stops, for some waverunners. Not sure what we'll do in Key West, but will look for Debsites post on it.

Magicron,
Small world! We live right down the road (off SR 70) from Lakewood Ranch. I work at Lakewood Ranch Hospital in the Women's Center. Anyway, we are driving up Friday to stay at the Radisson at the Port. We have to kennel our dogs Friday, anyway, it gives us an early start on the vacation, and the rates there are cheaper than paying for parking at the Port.
We did Captain Marvin's stingray a few years back - it was wonderful! We ended up having only our family of 4 + 1 other couple on the boat. The snorkeling was pretty good, and our son got to float around in a swim vest (he was only a toddler then) with me hanging onto them. Neither of the kids wanted in the water with the rays (daughter was 9, son 1 1/2) at the time. I was trying to talk them into doing the same tour this time. My son's all for it, but my daughter not so much. She wants to go spend time at Botswain's and the turtle farm. We'll see.

We did Chankanaab last year for the dolphins- booked on our own. Daughter (then 13) and I did the swim, and son (then 5) and husband did the encounter. We had a great time. There is a freshwater pool as well that we spent time in, and there is a small snorkeling area that we had been to the year before. I saw a few neat fish and a spotted ray that year.

Melissa did the swim with the Dolphins at Cozumel a few years ago. It was alot of $$, but Mike and I could pay a cheaper price to watch. She really enjoyed it. Another cruise did the semi sub which was neat. We've also done the Hell/Turtle Farm/Stingrays at GC - stingrays the best. The Turtle Farm was depressing and Hell a tourist trap. Next cruise to GC we didn't get to tender and go on the island cuz of weather. Did the trolley tour of Key West on our first trip there.
This time we are going to parasil at KW. Do the Snuba at Cozumel and shop some. The mall right off the ship is nice for souviners. Probably going to stay on board at GC.
It's nice to see only 6 listings for cruises (7 day) before ours.
Have a great weekend.

I mentioned above that we were doing a park and fly. What I meant was staying at a hotel near the airport and leaving the car at the hotel. That has worked pretty well in the past. We are doing the Disney transportation in Florida.
We did the Turtle Farm when we were there in 2002 with Payton. It was fun. Hell was, yes, a tourist trap. Did the Captain Marvin's Stingray tour in 2004. It was nicely done. This time we will do a pirate boat.pirate: Arrghh!

Tinkbellfan: Will look forward to attending the DIS meet. Is it still planned for Deck 10 around 3:00PM? Any idea at this point how many will be there?
Delighted to hear you and your daughter enjoy Epcot and that she chose to be at Epcot for her next birthday. You'd be surprised at the number of children who tell me themselves that Epcot is their favorite park. What's her favorite ride there?
BobandLee: What a wonderful way to spend the night before the cruise.
Wishing all of you a safe journey to Orlando.

Otimon - meet is deck 10 starboard at 3:00pm. I'm thinking we should expect to see around 25 people. Just a guess.
Test Track is her favorite ride at Epcot with Soarin' a close second. She is not a Mission Space kinda gal and neither is her mother. Too enclosed. Her favorite person in Epcot is Ilham, the lead bellydancer for Mo'rockin (sp?) in Morocco. We missed her last time so I hope she is still with the group. She always makes my dd feel special.
Iloveokw - we should be there most of the day, but we do have to make it to our ressie at Boma that night. Can't miss that. We have to practice eating before the cruise starts.
Bobandlee - looks like alot of fun at the "big kids" beach. Are you ready to hang with the kiddies this year at Castaway! Which ones are you?

Tinkbellfan: Thank you for confirming the DIS meet location.
How wonderful your daughter's favorite ride at Epcot is Test Track because that's where I work! Began there the week Test Track opened back in March, 1999 and am still there today. Took the last 3 years out to be the Future World Super Greeter at Epcot, but recently went back to Test Track as the Greeter position was phased out.
Looking forward to meeting another Test Track fan.

Then she will continue on about how I "FORCED" her (Never) to ride when she was tall enough and how she cried at the end . . . . only to really want to try again the next time we were at Epcot! Hi all!!! I can't believe how many Illinoians are going on this trip! We are north of Rockford...almost in Wisconsin, but not quite. I am 26 (will be 27 in a few days), my DH is 31 and my DD will be almost 2 on the trip. Anyone else with toddlers? We're in room 8020! I decided to splurge since this is our first family trip. We'll be arriving the night before and staying at the Hyatt at the airport. Still trying to decide if we want to take the bus or do a limo or something. It's our first Disney cruise and our first trip together as a family, though both DH and I have gone on vacations, Disney trips, and other cruises with our families before we met. I'm a total over planner and will become ADDICTED to this board for advice and tips! Anyone from IL know what their flight info is yet? Can't wait to meet you all!!!!!! :cool1:

Has anyone been on the fury catamaran tour in cozumel? It sounded fun from the review on the disney website, but other vacation websites have said otherwise..
We are also thinking about doing the semi-sub in grand cayman, any input on that?

Welcome aboard Becca. Alot of us from Illinois fly out of Indy. We drive thru Rockford on our way to our beloved Door Co., WI. every summer.
We did see men in tuxes on our DCL 7 night cruise, but it was also NYE. Many more men had on jackets. Disney ships seem a little more casual than the Princess ones we have been on. My husband has a tux he wears once a year, but even a jacket isn't his idea of fun. He will wear his blue sportscoat on formal night and in Palo.

Becca - welcome to the boards and can't wait to get everyone together on the cruise. I have never used ME to the port, always use a towncar. Nothing wrong with ME (well maybe me), I just like being in control of my timing (I know there is a diagnosis for this, but it's just one of those things!). So, who is left in Illinois when you are all in Florida?
Calgary4 - we will be at a table for eight at 6:10pm, so we will still be there when you arrive. Last name is O'Brien. I posted a pic of me a few pages back. Look for us!!

Hello everyone... got room for a family of Floridians? We just booked this cruise this morning. We originally had booked for 9/19 (more in our price range) but didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to remove our son from high school for a week. When spring break resident rates came available we felt compelled to jump onboard, literally, lol.
It will be myself, DH, DS14 and DD10. This will be my family's third (my fourth) Disney Cruise.
I skimmed through the thread but didn't see if there was a plan to do FE's? If not, I'll organize one if anyone has an interest.

Anybody else use packing cubes? I love them, especially since I don't have a very organized brain. They make it easy to pack and unpack, keep your stuff from getting all wrinkled up, and they stack perfectly in the steamer trunk with the clothes still in them.
Any suggestions for "must brings"? For me they are the over the door shoe holder, the pop up laundry basket, and an accordion file -- this holds my cruise docs, reservations, copies of passports and credit cards, etc. on the way out, and keeps my navigators, pictures, etc. flat and safe on the way home.
Can't believe we are leaving in about 5 weeks and I have NOTHING done, no plans or reservations, and no appropriate clothing! Argh, what was I thinking? :rotfl:

Hi again everyone,
Thanks for the welcome and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
So do we have an FE list going? Anyone interested? It would even be good with just a few people. This is new since our last DCL and it sounds like fun!
BTW, I know when I first saw this I was wondering what the heck everyone was talking about when they said "FE". I notice we have some new people on the thread, so for anyone new to the concept, FE stands for "fish extender," which is hung on the metal fish outside the cabin. Could be hanging pockets, a bag, whatever. Then everyone participating gets a little "surprise gift" for the other participants and sometime during the cruise sticks them into everyone's fish extender. It doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate, some people have done things like pencils, candy, magnets, etc. or some memento of their area (although the rest of you all seem to come from the same place, so maybe not :rotfl: ). There are a lot of FE threads with great ideas.
If anyone has an interest, post here or send me a PM.

Janie - sorry to hear that you had to cancel. Maybe another time will work out!
Well all, I'm back from my parental visit in Florida. It's great to have the "rents" live there. I brought down all my clothes already for the cruise and even had my mom buy DD her formal dress. Mimi's are really good for that kind of stuff! Today I broke out the dirty snorkel gear left in the bags since November (yuck) and have washed that all up.
A question regarding the Cozumel day. I have heard that the dock is a very long walk. Our friend's mom is coming with us and she sometimes has a hard time walking long distances in the heat (they are from Scotland!). Is there transportation down the dock for her?
BobandLee - I'm a Mac user too - but just recently converted. We actually have both Mac and PC in the house and all is peaceful.

Hey everyone!
Janie, sorry you can't go. I hope another date works out well for you. That's the very reason we moved to this date... my son does not have school. It's tough to take out a kid out of high school!
BobandLee, cute FE's. Guess I'll have to give up on those, but there's always next time. At least it's one less thing I'll have to get done. And the other pic -- I haven't been to Cozumel for 17 years, forgot about the loooong dock.
Debbie, thanks for the clothing help. :) BTW, we have Macs and PCs here, too, coexisting peacefully. One thing Macs are not is gaming machines for sure. Of course, both my kids would love to have my macbook - like that's happening! :lmao: If you have any "recent convert" questions, feel free to PM me.
Well, I got a dress ordered for my DD for formal night, found one in the back of my closet for myself, sending DH's suit to the cleaners. Booked the Radisson at a $99 rate, which is nice. Guess I'm making some headway...
Barely more than 4 weeks to go and I know it's going to go fast!

Went shopping this week and found myself saving "I could wear this on the cruise"! So, I bought a bunch of stuff! My DH just shook his head when the two large "Chico's" bags where carried into the house.
I am so excited that in four weeks from now we will be in the van on the way to the port. I've been doing alittle thinking about our stop in Grand Cayman. I am acting as our groups tour guide since I have visited before many times. We will do a quick visit to the butterfly farm (DD loves it) in the morning and then depending on the weather either go to seven mile beach (if the waves are calm on the West side) or up to Kaibo Beach near Rum Point for lunch. Rum Point is too crowded for some in our party. If it's not beach weather we can always take a walk in the Botanical gardens and have lunch at The Wharf. I love a plan!
MelissaE1
02-21-2009, 11:10 PM
Debbie, have you been to Cozumel quite a bit as well? If so, do you hire out as a tour guide? :rotfl: I have NO CLUE what we are going to do there. We are not too much beach people on vacation since we live in a beach town. The mainland ruins I think my DD10 is still a little young for, I'd take her if it was a shorter trip. Horseback riding looks kind of cool, but I'm allergic to anything with hair, so not sure I want to go there. The place with the clear kayaks looks pretty good as well, but it comes with snorkling which my DS doesn't like... oy. Maybe we'll just stay on the ship, lol.
In Grand Cayman we are taking the kids to Stingray City, we remember it fondly from our honeymoon. I think my kids are amazed that a place still exists from the "old days" when mom and dad got married. :rotfl2:

Cozumel is the only stop on our cruise that I haven't been too! I've spent many a week in Key West racing sailing boats and my family has vacationed in Grand Cayman for the last four years (week at a time) so we have gotten to know the Island fairly well. I loved being at Stingray city and it was fun to watch, but I was very freaked out being in the water with them. DD didn't get off the boat either.
Melissa, have you thought about the Dolphin swim? My dd(9) and the other kids in our party voted for "dolphin day" as it has become known. We have such a diverse group (kids, parents, grandparents) that it's hard to make everyone happy at every port, so the kids got to choose for Cozumel.
Anyone else have any opinions on the Cozumel excursions.

Good evening all. Just got back from the Great White North aka South Bend. When we left there was about a foot of snow on the ground. Here at home, just a dusting.:thumbsup2
Still it was a good time. We even found time for a little cruise shopping.
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

We've been to Cozumel two times. Favorite excursion was when we paid $$ for Melissa to swim with the dolphins - she LOVED it. We paid the observer $. Bought one picture, but it was really a good one. They try to sell you alot of videos (that dates us) etc. Last time she and Mike did the sub thing. Of course there is shopping. This trip they are doing SNUBA! Looked into the underwater Scooter, but it gets cancelled more than not.
Bob, we went to Purdue yesterday for a college visit, snowed like crazy no accumulation, but just a little bit of snow with alot of wind made for very slick road on 231 - boy I was glad to get to 74. No snow to speak of here in Danville, IL.
So ready for this cruise.

OK, dang. I was all excited about the dolphin thing, but when I looked it up and mentioned that it starts at $160 pp I heard my DH mumbling under his breath that we'd just rent a boat around here and go find some dolphins, lol. So I guess that's out.
Off to do more research.
Debbie, racing sailing boats? That sounds awesome!
Guess I wouldn't get any sympathy if I said it was 43 with a windchill of 36 here, now would I? :rotfl:

Gomagic-
What part of Ohio? I'm in Columbus area (Go Bucks!).
I'm trying to get the dolphin swim booked. Went through a few e-mails back and forth with Dolphin Discovery regarding their free transportation offer, and refund policy. After all that, turns out they don't have space available for four of us on that day; they have three spots open at 10:00 (probably too early), and 3:30 (maybe cutting in close to get back for dinner). So, now may need to see if the DCL excursion has space.
Was at CVS last night, stocking up on stuff, and picked up some Bonine while there. That's about all the packing planning we've done so far. Eeek!

Hi everyone!!!! I just booked our trip!!! Better late than never. This will be our first 7 day Disney cruise. Does anybody know what the schedule is as far as what night to wear what? Also, do they do the pirate night like on the wonder cruise? My daughter wants a new tinkerbelle dress for that night. I am thinking about the dolphin encounters but I'm like a deer in the headlights at this point.
I'm originally from Key West so I'm just going to visit friends and family I know. Visit JP of course.
The rest of the trip, I'm relaxing and enjoying my favorite place............
Oh, it will be me, my husband, and our 8 year old daughter.

Welcome Whowhon! Nothing like last minute trip planning! Just wanted to let you know, if you haven't had a chance to read the whole thead, that we are having a little DIS meeting on deck 10 starboard at 3pm on the 21st, right before the drill. Please join us!
Melissa - strange profession, but I was a Sailmaker/professional sailor for about 12 years (before dd was born). Was able to go a bunch of fun places to sail with customers. My dh and I also met sailing at our local club and got married on the boat and did Block Island (RI) Race Week as our honeymoon (1988). Now we just cruise!
We are signed up for the Dolphin excursion in Cozumel, so I think we will be happy with that. But thanks BobandLee for that interesting photo! Again, maybe if we didn't have the kids with us!
Haven't received the tickets yet - maybe today!

They do have Pirate Night.

Does anyone know if I can still cancel the ground transfers? Am I stuck with losing that money now, or can it still be refunded as onboard credit or something? We are thinking that we might like to do a town car so that we can make a water stop and go to Ron Jon's.

We have NOTHING planned this trip, just to go and enjoy ourselves. We might rent an electric car in Key West again, we really enjoed that last year, but otherwise, we might get off the boat in port....or we might not.

We actually don't have anything definite planned, either. I think we are going to do Stingray City in GC, but I haven't actually made the ressie yet. Maybe I should get around to that.
Last time we tried to take the Western a hurricane decided we would be doing an Eastern again, so we had no plans in advance, and I have to say we really enjoyed it that way.

Hi Everyone:
Had no idea this thread was here, even though I've been on the DIS for awhile. Just goes to show you there's always more to learn! We've been booked on this cruise for what feels like forever and CANNOT WAIT, especially with the major snow storm hitting NY today and the frigid temperatures. We are me, DH, DD 13 and DD 11. This is our 2nd cruise and 1st 7-nighter. We did a 3-night just to see what it was like and we loved it so much that we booked this one immediately. Can't wait for more time and some days at sea. We're planning to rent an electric car in Key West, hit the beach in Grand Cayman and do the off-roading jeep tour in Cozumel. I think stingrays and relaxing on CC. Sound good? And we are definitely going all out on clothing: full formal wear on formal night, pirate costumes, everything. The girls are planning to go to Ocean's Quest every night after the shows for the parties, leaving DH and me for some adult time. How great is that??

Hi Melissa:
I can hardly wait for a whole week away from the rest of the world, although I know it will go by so quickly! Both of my daughters have told me, separately, that they REALLY need this cruise! We're flying down the morning before and staying in Port Canaveral. I think they're hoping to buy as many bikinis at Ron Jons as we'll let them!

Cindy, we've never been to that Ron Jon's, but I'm hoping we can work it in this time. We are driving down on Friday. Even though we are in FL, it takes us about 8+ hours to get to the port.
Where are you guys staying? We are staying at the Radisson. Anyone else staying there?
cindy18
03-03-2009, 09:49 AM
We're staying at the Country Inn and Suites. We almost stayed at the Radisson, but the Country Inn and Suites seemed a little smaller and quieter, and also newer. I think it's next door to Hertz, which could make dropping off our rental car even more convenient than I had expected. But I would think a lot of people will be staying at the Radisson.
And remember, Ron Jon's is open 24 hours a day!
gomagic
03-03-2009, 09:56 AM
It's funny that you mentioned Ron Jons being open 24 hrs beacuse I have always joked with my mom that some time we are going in the middle of the night just to see how it is.
cindy18
03-03-2009, 10:12 AM
It's not hard to imagine a bunch of cruisers descending on Ron Jon's in the middle of the night, or even at something like 5:00 in the morning, unable to sleep or maybe driving down to the Port overnight and looking to kill time. Besides, it saves on packing if you buy the bathing suits there!

I looked at CI&S and it looked very nice, but the rate I got at the Radisson ($99) was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. The suite was only $30 more, but as my son said, we are only going to sleep there overnight on our way to a Disney Cruise!
I guess DH is out of luck if Ron Jon's is open 24 hours. That means I can get there regardless. I'm sure I won't spend much... :rolleyes1

It's a pretty long drive for us, so my kids are getting a bonus. We are taking them out of school on Friday. Luckily things get quieter after FCAT's are over. Good Evening All.
Turned into a great day. 68° when I got off work.
It was a good time to try shorts on for the cruise.
Very nice to just walk Belle without hurrying thru the walk.
Ahhh. In just 2 weeks we will be heading south to start our trip.
After a longer than usual flight, detouring thru NC, we will arrive in Orlando.
Then our first excursion begins....staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Our on cruise excursions consist of the Pirate Encounter at Grand Cayman and The Dolphins at Cozumel.
At CC we plan on just taking it easy.
Welcome Cindy 18.

18 years ago, we went thru the same thing. We had no phone, cable or electric for one day. The next day the phone and cable came back online. After the 3rd day, we checked into a hotel for a couple of days. We had natural gas, but no blower on the furnace and it was not easy keeping warm with the woodstove. But we could warm up at work as both of our job places were o.k.
Yes, we are ready and looking forward to the cruise.

Hi Michelle (do I have that right? :))
I have passed slightly panicked and moved on to full blown freaking out, so you are in good company, lol. I didn't realize when I moved the date how many things I needed to buy/do in a short time. Oh well, I figure if anything doesn't get done we'll deal with it when we get on the boat. Everything comes out in the wash.
I noticed from an earlier post that you had some grandparents in your party that were waitlisted for main seating. Did you get that worked out? We are main, but I think we are going to switch to late. Not sure if Disney would let us suggest a specific party to take our place, but you never know.

Hi, Melissa!
I don't think having lot's of time to plan (and wait) is necessarily a good thing. I have shopped too much. Infact, I am pretty sure that I have bought doubles of some things!
I've had a couple of people ask me if I am excited about the cruise. I'm sure I am somewhere inside. I am feeling more focused right now than anything. There are so many things to do - get the dog his booster shots as we are boarding him, have the mail held, request homework from my sons teacher - you know. I am sure once I see the ship I'll breakdown and cry with happiness!
As for our dinner seating, my DH's grandparents were moved to main seating with us. Thanks for the offer to tell us when you were switching. Sitting together with the family is the main thing they wanted. I am so happy it worked out!
Good luck with your wardrobe, GoMagic. I noticed that the stores finally have their summer things out in case you need to shop.
Hope everyone is enjoying the same warm weather that we are today. We went from single digit highs last week to 72 today!
15 days to go!!!

Hi Everyone!
I just found this thread today...and I have been on Disboards for years!! We are excited for our 1st Disney Cruise!! DH and I have only been on one 3 day cruise (horrible...not Disney!) This is all new to us. It is very exciting to see all the kids that will be on the cruise that are the same age as my DD 11 and DD 9 1/2. We have been to WDW more times then we can count...and are DVC members at SS. It is very strange to be doing something "Disney" that we are clueless on. We are used to being the experts! Thank you so much for starting this thread and helping out all of the newbies like us. :goodvibes

Next time we lose power around here during a hurricane instead of grumbling because it's so hot I am going to remember to be grateful that I am not freezing in an ice storm. :cold:
Mostly, we toughed it out by only being home to sleep after the first day or so. We were one of the first to brave the roads. The biggest problem wasn't the cold, even though the house got down to 56 degrees while we were here one night, but the fact that we are on well water and the pump is electric so we have no water during a power outage. I use bottled water to drink and cook so we had that and could flush with it, but it was a pain, to say the least. The hotel was a welcome sight.
Regarding packing...this is our 4th DCL cruise, 3rd Western. I have yet to under pack. Believe it when they say get together everything you want to bring, then take out at least 1/2. It's amazine how little you really need. Other than make up and deoderant, you need no toiletries, they supply shampoo, conditioner, soap, loation, etc. The hairdryer is somewhat weak, so if you must dry your hair, you probably need to bring one. If you have a lot of electronics, bring a power strip, you will be happy you did.
Don't panic...somehow it will all get done. It always does.
Can't wait to see everone on board. Don't forget to wear your lime green.

:goodvibes
We can not wait to meet all of you!
Denise
I promise you that, unlike your 3-night non-Disney cruise, this will be amazing. There are some very good trip reports on the trip report thread on recently completed 7-night Westerns (the last Western before ours leave today), and if you read them, you will start to count down the minutes! Also, my DD 11 will be very excited to know she will not be hunting around for friends. I think she and her older sister are thinking to spend every evening after the show (we have main dining) at the party in Ocean's Quest! On our first cruise, we didn't have a lot of expectations (and we had not found these boards), and we were blown away. You will be too!

Good Morning All.
Very nice weather here in the heartland.
2 whole weeks to go. How will we last that long.:confused3
Welcome Neriberis and Disneymartins

Just remember, there are no absolutes.
No one is an absolute "expert" and no one is a absolute "newbie".
We did a lot of research before our first cruise and every cruise we have went on since, we have learned so much more.
Packing? Yep, I have always over packed. Seems like Lee does it just about right. I never think I have enough "stuff", but this time it is just one suitcase, so I gotta make it work. Suit and all.
The main thing is just plan on having fun. :cool1:

Ah, packing. Plan is to spend next Sunday deciding on the outfits, since I don't think we'll be needing summer clothes in NY before we leave (although today's forecast high of 64 is VERY exciting). DD 11 has asked to go through all her dresses with me to pick the proper ones for formal and semi-formal night, but DD 13 hasn't seemed that interested. And our pirate costumes arrived this week, so that was a lot of fun! 2 weeks does feel like a long time though.

Cindy18- I will let my daughter (11 years old last week) know that there are a lot of 10 and 11 year old girls on board. She is really outgoing...my almost 10 year old girl is more shy. We have the late dining...it was all they had available when we booked in August, so we figured we would try it. We have heard both good and bad...we will see how it goes. As for pirate night...are you wearing a costume or just the kids? We were in WDW for Halloween this year (my birthday is the 30th of October) so we all have pirate costumes from MNSSHP that are still in our Owners Locker.
BobandLee- Thanks for making me feel better at being new to this. You are right about there being no experts...I have suggested things to friends at Disney that they HATED! I have friends that hated Poly Concierge level :sad2: (how do you hate the Poly...I am crying) and friends that hated Hoop-de-Doo (it was too loud)...you can see my point!

We're on this cruise, too!! Pap pap, mom, dad, and two boys who are 5 and 3. My son has two weeks spring break so we are going to Disney World for a week, then pap pap is flying down and we are all going on the cruise!!!:cool1:

Sounds like a good number of girls about the same age: we have DD9 (turns 10 in June), and DD13. Going to the clubs after the show sounds like a good idea. This is our first family cruise, so we'll figure this out as we go to get a balance of family time and club time.
The girls are trying on some of their summer clothes this weekend, to start setting aside for packing. Hopefully, not too many last minute shopping trips needed.

disneymartins, we're definitely all wearing pirate costumes. We're going whole hog on this thing. We need the escape so badly that we figure that we're diving in head first.
Just finished going through all DD 11's dresses. She's pretty much figured out what to wear for each night of the cruise (including hedging her bets on where she and DD 13 will eat dinner on night 4, when DH and I are at Palo). Everything else should be pretty easy, except maybe shoes...
Magicron, excited to hear that you have a DD 13. Our kids also like to have quality family time on the ship (or on any vacation). I figure they won't be in Ocean's Quest too often during the day, although we've never had days at sea before, so I could be wrong about that. I'm starting to feel as though every cruise gets its own personality, no matter what you expect or how many times you've cruised.
Can't wait!

Wow, our thread is getting busy! I love it! :cool1: Hi Denise, Neriberi, and pixie3!
Surprising a kid is harder than I thought, lol. Thank goodness my DS14 knows. DD10 always said if we go again she wanted to be surprised, and I am trying so hard, but how in the heck do you get a kid who doesn't particularly like dresses or dressing up to buy a formal dress and shoes without a reason? Semi formal night stuff? Oy! She thinks we are going to one of her dad's bosses weddings. :rotfl2: Luckily we found a dress that she likes and I ordered shoes from Target.com, too bad they are too big. Thinking of just stuffing tissue in them. :rotfl:
Denise, we have always had late dining and loved it... I guess it depends on what time you eat. I thought about keeping early just because we've never tried it, but my family pointed out that if it ain't broke, don't fix it, lol.
Any other overthinkers out there? I am trying to pick the perfect Stingray City tour (i.e. catamaran vs. boat, how many stops, etc.) and now wondering if DD should go into the 8-10 group (same as last time) or if she'd be happier in the 11-13's. Luckily once we board that switches off and I just go with whatever!

MelissaE1.... I am sure that we will meet no matter what! I will have one DD in the 11 year old group, and one DD in the 9 year old group (since she will not be 10 until July)
Where did all of you get a formal dress that your DD did not hate? They are such a hard age group...I am fine with the other nights, they do not make nice dresses at Hollister or A&F!
Also, I have heard about magnets for the door. I know I need to get special paper...but what kind of magnets? Just regular Disney refrigerator magnets? Just curious
Cindy18...good to know we will not be the only "parent pirates" to show up at dinner! I think we are booked for Palo on night 4 also. The girls should be happy with their new friends by then :goodvibes

Hi everyone!
My DD (9- a week short of being 10) is so excited there are many girls her age. I think she is more excited about making friends than anything else.
On our last cruise we had late sitting (not by choice and was disappointed), however, it was the best thing that could happen and will continue with late dinner.
Disneymartins: We went to Staples and got Magnet sheets. It comes in 4 sheet packets 8 1/2 x 11in. sheets.
Just sitting here thinking in a couple of hours the Magic will be sailing out and in two weeks it will be us!!!!!:cool1:

Hi all - I've been crazy with school stuff (ugh - parents association president. Yes I know I am a sucker!) so I'm alittle behind on keeping up with the thread. Lots of action going on. Welcome to all the newly found cruisers. As I've mentioned before to new subscribers, we are all meeting Saturday on deck 10 starboard at 3pm to have our first meeting on board. We should also try to get together mid-trip. Maybe on the first day at sea we could meet to do a DIS photo (secret deck on 7?) and a cocktail. Bob - it's five o'clock somewhere!
I am the queen of overpacking. My dh actually laughed at me today as I was packing up suitcase number three! Most of our clothes are already in Florida at my parents house, so I will have to re-pack when we arrive next Saturday at their place. I can have them ship to my house anything I decide not to bring.
All of our snow melted today :woohoo: ! It was in the high 60's. Of course the yard is a big mud puddle now, but I'm not complaining!
Disneymartins - there are entire threads on the DIS that have graphics for use to make magnets. I think there is one on the cruise board and many in the "just for fun" section at the bottom of the forum homepage. I've already used two packs of the magnetic printer paper.
We do have alot of 9 - 10 year old girls - thank goodness they are all not teenagers! We only have one 13yr old coming with us and that's enough.
Well in two weeks we will all be at the sail away party! I can't wait! Any ideas for a second meeting, let us know!

Finding formal dresses for the DDs is not that hard, or at least, since we're not trying to find them something long, it hasn't been hard. Bloomingdales (if there's one near you) has very good party dresses for the 7-14 year old set that are reasonably priced. We also found a store called All Dressed Up that caters to tweens and teens that are on the sweet sixteen and bar/bat mitzvah circuit, so that's been a very good source for party dresses. I don't think All Dressed Up is a chain, but there may be a similar concept in your neck of the woods. Also, Delia's is a store that my DDs are starting to be into as a break from A&F, and Delia's has some very cute dresses that would work for semi-formal night.
Hope that helps.

Tinkbellfan...thank you for the magnet information, I had a feeling it was just on paper and not "real" magnets! Off to Staples I will go!!
Cindy18...I live in NJ (Bergen County) so I am fortunate that I should be able to get to any store. I was thinking Bloomingdale's but I never even thought of Delia's. Thank you for the suggestion. Last time they dressed up I got away with Limited too...so I did not know what would be good now that they are older.
It is great meeting all of you...I am really excited for the trip now!
Thanks for the help :flower3:

Thank you BobandLee! Love the graphics.
I am going to make breakfast for the family and finish the last bit of packing. Everyone, don't forget to do all your on-line check in stuff before the 19th. I'll do that today to since I will be in WDW then. Pulled the passports out yesterday - that made me smile!:)

OK, none of either DDs summer shoes fit. Not one. Unfair. Zappos is loving me today. That's what we did this morning. I think next weekend is going to be the big packing weekend, since I'll be working all week before we leave for Florida. But I caution you all to check how things from last summer are fitting the kids. It was a real bummer this morning.

hello cruisers
We can't wait for our holidays to start, it's 11 days until we leave for Orlando. We finally went shopping today and picked up some summery clothes, but we haven't even started thinking about packing yet. Hope you guys are having better weather than we are. Yesterday we had a cold blast of weather from the north causing a blizzard with whiteout conditions and we couldn't see across the road. Tomorrow we are looking forward to (ha ha) a high of -21 C (-8 F) and a wind chill of -31 C (-24 F) and more snow.. :sad2:
We just can't wait to get out of this deep freeze and into some warm weather.
Has anybody gone on the fury catamaran out of Cozumel? Would it be good for 2 adults and a dd14 and a 6 yr old grandson? We heard people can get a little rowdy from free margharitas that are offered..
Is seven mile beach the best beach to go to in Grand Cayman? We were planning just to visit it on our own. Also, any reccomendation for good restaraunts in Grand Cayman?

Feel better Tinkbellfan! Here is the glass is half full view: you will be 100% better well before you leave for Florida. So if you had to get sick, you picked a good time. I hear you loud and clear on trying to do everything you can to make sure your DD doesn't get it. Give her lots of vitamin C!

Ugghh, I feel your pain on the sickies. My dd was diagnosed with strep throat/scarlet fever on Thursday. She shared like a good girl, and I was diagnosed on Sunday. We are just waiting for the other shoe to drop and my ds's or dh. Cruise can't come soon enough!

Thanks everyone! We are taking our daily "Emergen-C's" and a host of other natural immune boosters. My SIL is really into a clean, healthy lifestyle and she is into the naturopathic stuff so she has us all set up. It seems to help and the pediatrician is on board too. I am still taking my backup Rx of antibiotics in case my dd's ears flare up. Even at nine she still gets ear infections once in awhile.
We are heading down to my parents house in Florida on Saturday, so I should be all set by then. I can't wait!

Poor thing! The flu is NO fun. Luckily once the fever breaks you usually do start on the upswing. It is tiring, though, so try not to overtax yourself. If there is a silver lining (and it's pretty tough to find with the flu) it's that you'll be done for sure by the time we leave.
DD started with the sniffles yesterday and a sore throat, and the flu plus a bunch of other stuff is going around bad at her school so I am keeping my fingers crossed. She and I had influenza last year, so I'm hoping that gives her some kind of residual immunity, even if it's not the exact same virus. It affected my asthma so bad I almost had to be hospitalized, so I finally listened to my doctor and got a flu shot this year... hope it actually helps.
Amybethchristiansen, hope you guys feel better too. The best thing about strep is those antibiotics tend to kick it fast.
Here's to everyone getting/staying healthy for the next week and a half!

Hi Everyone! We just got back from a back to back on the Disney Magic and it was the MOST incredible cruise we have ever taken... and with 69 under our belts that is saying something.
I envy you all getting ready to go on and wonder if some of you can help me out with some fun.
We had a great time with our Head Server who is also a Server in Palo... his name is Roberto. We joked and teased the entire 2 weeks and it was truly said when we left. I told him that we would haunt him from beyond and that is where you all come in.
If any of you have Palo reservations PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say Hi to PJ from Dave and Michael... but go up to Roberto and tell him that Dave and Michael from the Disney Boards told you to find him and ask him for a special free Roberto cocktail. Then ask him if he has his GPS positioning yet. (He kept joking that he was going to tag me with it so he would know when we were coming so he could hide.)
I am going to ask people to do this every week for as long as I can keep it going.
I know he will laugh, but it will also let him know that we truly enjoyed his service and friendship while on board. You should request him as a server if you don't already have a favorite.
Thanks alot!

Hi all. So sorry to those suffering from cold weather illnesses. I, too, have been down with the flu, but feel that I am on the upswing as well. Dayquil/nyquil is my friend too.
Can we all sign in with our specifics so that we can compile a list? I will try to keep up with it and periodically post a list for people. We can do a DisMeet if anyone's interested, too.
I will go first:
1. Stateroom 6590, Mitsy (Me) and Jeffery, DS13
2. Stateroom 6587, Kathy (my sister) and Crystal, DD16
