Good morning everyone...

(Is it still morning?)

Looks like I missed the fun of getting to 28,000!

Just catching up on my break...not much to say.

Cheryl N. WI

It has cooled off here in WI too, at night actually cold. We had the windows open under a large porchlike area we have off the back of our house the other day when it was rainy and cold and when I got home from work I almost wanted to turn the heat on it had gotten so cold and damp feeling in the house. The air does have a feel of fall to it, cool and crisp. I love fall!

It's a lovely cloudy day here, it rained most of the night and now everything is all wet and cool. :woohoo: It will be a nice change from the past few days...it was about 32 degrees yesterday when Kira and I went for our walk, it was SO HOT!!! :headache: The leaves have started to fall and it's cooler so it looks like a lovely fall day

I wish Florida was like this in October :rolleyes1

OK Jeff now that we have reached another milestone and now that you are back here how are we doing on our posts? What place are we in now?

And when do you expect we will hit 30000?

I suspect we will hit 30,000 for sure by October 1st, but since you all put up 1,000 posts in less than a week, you might see 30,000 by the 22nd, but I'm guessing by the 25th.

We are still in 5th place with 4th less than 3,500 ahead of us. I definitely see us passing them before we sail. Once the docs start coming in, everyone finishes packing, and then starts heading down, this thread will be hopping.

Maybe we need to do the "how many posts will we have before we sail" guesses again. With 5 1/2 weeks left and at the rate we're going, I think we'll see close to 35,000. But, I'll shy that down a little and say just over 34,000.

Congrats Cheryl on getting the 28K.

GO TEAM WISCONSIN!!!!!!

Who did the tally the other week on the 1,000 post posters? Just wondering where the numbers are at.

Cheryl N. WI
09-12-2007, 11:06 AM
This is post 1800 for me. 2 milestones in 1 morning :cool1: Can't wait to tell Rach when I pick her up from school that I got 28k and I hit 1800 posts. She was laughing at me the other day because she already has over 1000 posts on the DIS and she just registered in Dec. and I am "not that far ahead of her" and I have been a DISer for years. Can't let my own DD pass me up ;)

OK I really need to go now. I need to mow the lawn AGAIN and I need to dig the kitchen table out from all the piles of junk mail that have burried it. The last few nights at dinner we have been crowded together at the table because there is hardly even room for the 3 of us to sit and eat.

Talk to you guys later

Steve sorry if I stole your FO

No prob. I wasn't paying attn. (work gets in the way)

House is great. Ellis is having a hard time at school though...he's started saying he doesnt like it there since he's gone back after the school hols.:sad2: It breaks my heart.

My son has been having a heck of a time in school too. He does not like the long school day (Just started 1st grade) and his teacher is very structured. (we are not. He's really not used to it)

Good morning everyone :wave2:
I enjoyed Big Brother last night :woohoo: So much for those rumours eh Steve. :confused3 They didn't show very much about the jury house though, so who knows what happened  I KNEW Amber would talk about the "good" and "bad" people :lmao: Biggest dork in BB history :rotfl:

Who wants to make a bet she mentions the good and bad people in her little speech again for the last show??? :rotfl2:

I told Laura that you would be happy about how things turned out.

Yep, Internet rumors. I should have known better than to think that there was any validity to them.

Amber is a major whack job. That is the best part about not having the sequester house updates. Not seeing her!

What's everyone up to today? :confused3

She seems ok......I'll go in open minded and see what she says. I wish he knew what he didnt like about it then at least we'd have a point upon which to start, but he's just so vague and seems real down:sad1:

Hopefully the mound of prezzies and parties will cheer him up a bit. I hate to see him sad. He was fine when I picked him up this afternoon, but I'm sure tomorrow morning will be tearful again.

Avery had a rough time going to school this year....lots of screaming and kicking about going. But it took her about 3 days to calm right down.

But I sympathize as there is nothing worse then dropping off a child somewhere when they are screaming/crying that they dont want to go. My Better Half would say things to me like "just tell her that she has to go" but its a lot more than that. On the first day of school she had to literally have her fingers forced off me as she was gripping onto me so hard.

Oh Yeah, definately.

It is so hard for kids to get through those tough times in school. My youngest is having a hard time adjusting to 6th grade. He was so upset the other night that he came down crying and had himself so worked up he vomited. There is nothing I can do to take that stress away really. I told him that his best was good enough but the problem is that it is not good enough for him. Sad. Big deal for them.

True. You can already start to see the beginnings of it. Seeing newer people posting and those who posted long ago come back.

So what's your guess then? :confused3

I think this thread will get lightning quick starting around October 6th. Those last two weeks will be huge. All the non-USers coming in the first week and then the USers coming in the second week.

Oh! another FO lost to inattentiveness!

I'm thinking that at 1000posts/week x 5 weeks gives us a starting point of 33,000 then I would guess that we would be at about 3000 posts for the week the UK'ers are preparing to leave and dropping to 2250 posts after they're gone. So, I guesstimate 36,250

Chris - I think it was the emergency contact and the contract signatures, plus the immigratation form - where have you been before and where you are going after.

The medical form and the flight form are optional.

I guess a little of Jeff is rubbing off on me, but here are some fun stats on our thread::)

We have about 39 KK families
Approximately 75 adults
59 Kids
Youngest is Kira at almost 1 and the oldest is Tony at 26.
We have 25 boys and 26 girls and 8 that are unidentified.

Wisconsinites = 9 families
UK’ers = 6 families
Virginians = 3
Ohionites (or is that Ohioans?) = 3 (Not including the Tart)
We have 2 families from each of the following: Canada, New York, California, & Missouri.
And one family from each of: Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey and Maryland.

The rest are either homeless or didn’t tell us. :confused3

Hope I didn't miss anyone.

We have 2 families from each of the following: Canada, New York, California, & Missouri.
And one family from each of: Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey and Maryland.

The rest are either homeless or didn’t tell us. :confused3

Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Now to extrapulate that a little further, we have 134 of us total. Capacity of the ship is approximately 2,800, but since we know it is not sold out, it is slightly less than that. Therefore, we make up

5%

of all the cruisers on the ship. Bet we could get some kind of pull with that. Maybe our own wine tasting event. :scratchin

Is it too late to apply for a group discount? :confused3

A statistical FO?

JLDSMD
09-12-2007, 04:56 PM
Oh! another FO lost to inattentiveness!

I'm thinking that at 1000posts/week x 5 weeks gives us a starting point of 33,000 then I would guess that we would be at about 3000 posts for the week the UK'ers are preparing to leave and dropping to 2250 posts after they're gone. So, I guesstimate 36,250

Might be close Steve, but now that I look at the number of posts and how long it takes us to get there, you may be a tad short.

In the past 36 days, we did 9,000 posts. There are 38 days until we sail. That alone should bring us to 37,000. Plus the rush of posts as docs arrive and people leave, I think this thing may go 38,000 or 39,000.

Do I dare say, or put the mark in the sand, that we go for 40,000? :scared1:

Let me get this straight: The smileys work on some computers but not yours? In other words when you are looking at the same page on two different computers, the smiles are animated on one but not the other? Are both computers using Internet Explorer? or is one using another type of browser such as FireFox? If they have the same browser then it may be an out of date Internet Explorer. For saftey's sake you should be using Internet Explorer 7 (it's the most secure of the Microsoft browsers.) If you are up to date there, then I would suggest you go to Tools:Internet Options: Advanced

The scroll down and make sure that you have Java Enabled. (you may have either the Java option [preferred you can DL on the Sun Microsystems website] or just a Microsoft VM then you want the JIT compiler enabled and the Java console enabled. [Check the boxes] Then scroll down a bit further and make sure that under Multimedia you have "play animations in webpages" enabled. That should do it.

You have the scenario correct. I had already done all of that when I got on the boards a year ago. It has never worked.

I asked because I thought I maybe was missing something.

My Java is updated, I have IE7. AWWWWW!

Wisconsinites = 9 families
UK’ers = 6 families
Virginians = 3
Ohionites (or is that Ohioans?) = 3 (Not including the Tart)
We have 2 families from each of the following: Canada, New York, California, & Missouri.

I did hear from my TA today. I am a little perved with her. I emailed her on Sat. (Knowing that she was working that Sat.). She did not respond to me until today. All I asked her was if she had our air info yet. Last time I spoke to her she said she would have it by the first week of Sept. She then would want me to go down there and set up the transportation to the airport with her so we could get a better price. So I asked if she had it yet and told her that I am only available to meet her on Fridays and that I will be gone this Friday so I would have to meet her next Friday.

Her responce to me was very :snooty: She never did exactly answer that airl question. She gave me the website to our shuttle company and told me to book it online and tell them I am a AAA member. But I can not do that until we have flight info. She then said that she would tell me when the docs come in. That was it from her.

MinnMick01
09-12-2007, 05:34 PM
Ok so I understand that my mother pissed our TA off by being rude to her and not giving her the birthdates. Our TA also knows what my mother has gone through and I explained to her that alot of is medically related and not to take it personally. Well the TA said she would only deal with me from that point on. Now I get the impression that she does not want to deal with me either.

I don't want to sound greedy or anything but AAA has put us through hell and back and we better get some sort of compensation for all of this crap. We have been through 5 TA, I have had to rebook the cruise 3 different times because they keep lossing it. There is other stuff to but I am just making myself even mader as I talk about it.

So here is what I don't get. Our shuttle company wants at least a 30 day notice in order to book a private van. Which holds 7 and we have 7 that need to go. We are not going to have our airline info 30 days prior.

I tried to get my TA to look up airfare for me a few months ago and found that she wasn't much help. In essence I was told to look around on the internet. Later someone told me that TA's are not really getting much in the way of commission on airfare anymore(I really don't know how much truth there is to that) but it explained her reluctance to help me much.

Ok so I understand that my mother pissed our TA off by being rude to her and not giving her the birthdates. Our TA also knows what my mother has gone through and I explained to her that alot of is medically related and not to take it personally. This will be my last foray with AAA as well. Not necessarily because I have gotten bad service, I have had good service (outside of the experience that I listed above) I've just found that I can do pretty much everything myself and sometime cheaper. I was talked into adding everything to the package deal (I could have done better with transportation, trip insurance, hotel and probably flight costs on my own.) I thought it would be nice to have it easily taken care of for me, but at the cost that I outlayed it really wasn't worth it.

I agree with you 100%. But the funny thing about my airfare is it is what Disney is giving us because we did the whole package. She flat out told me Disney would give her that info the first week of Sept. There was nothing the TA has to do but call me when she got that info. Heck she made enough off of us to feed her family for at least a year. :rotfl:

Mine and Missy's boss (also my riding partner) leaves on a 7 day western on the Magic next Friday. She can't get too excited about it because her father is very ill. He has been in the nursing home for several years but has gone down hill in the last week. She was actually called by the doctor last Thursday to come and be with him. He has improved a bit but not much. She is very nervous about leaving which is understandable. I just hope she can relax enough to enjoy vacation.

Nice pics Nancy.

I believe the short shorts were called "nut huggers" (at least that's how you refer to the old NBA shorts).

So, I think this question has been asked of everyone back a few months, but how did everyone meet there significant other?

Suz and I worked together. That's how we met.

It is kind of a long story. We have a common friend, Marsha. She had a part-time job at an ice cream / sandwich shop. And then worked full time with Scott. Every Monday night I would got to her part time job and study there. It would get me out of my place and I would get to see her and her boyfriend. Well one Monday Scott and his kids came in. At first I thought he was just another guest. But he really kept talking to Marsha. Well her boyfriend, Dan and I were thinking that he was trying to pick up on Marsha so we were getting kind of upset. But then his kids came over and started talking to me. I am a sucker for kids. He then started talking to me. That is how we met. Come to find out she has asked him to come in to meet me. She was setting us up.

Yeah, Cass is probably too young to remember the size of the tv's in the '70's.

Tiny screen but HUGE box to hold everything. Much too small for a tv.

One of you must have been pretty rich though Nancy. A microwave in the '70's? I don't think we got our first one until in the '80's.

:rotfl:

Yep after booking, there's not much else for them to do. I was beginning to wonder when I would get my airline info. But since we're doing the disney transport I figured that there was little real hurry at this point. Does your air Itinerary ever come up on the DCL site?

Great pictures Cheryl, sorry I missed you earlier.

Wisconsinites = 9 families
UK’ers = 6 families
Virginians = 3

Very interesting stats, I was thinking about number of kids, but hadn't gotten around to figuring out.

And she gets paid for WHAT???

DS's school is closed tomorrow and Friday because of an issue with the well - ecoli or something.

The stupid thing is that they knew of the water problem before school started - the kids were told the first day not to drink the water and they brought water in for the kids.

So not only did they not fix it before school started, they didn't do it the Th and Fr before Labor Day since they already had that Friday off - only one day missed then.

To top it off, I don't see why they can't go over to the church and just have the classes there. They have rooms on the lower level and they are on a different well.

My son has been having a heck of a time in school too. He does not like the long school day (Just started 1st grade) and his teacher is very structured. (we are not. He's really not used to it) .

Poor thing - Big hugs to him too:hug:

Avery had a rough time going to school this year....lots of screaming and kicking about going. But it took her about 3 days to calm right down.

But I sympathize as there is nothing worse then dropping off a child somewhere when they are screaming/crying that they dont want to go. My Better Half would say things to me like "just tell her that she has to go" but its a lot more than that. On the first day of school she had to literally have her fingers forced off me as she was gripping onto me so hard.

I'm sort of used to it (I am a trained classroom assistant so we see it each term), but its never the same when its your own child. He just stands there his shoulders drooped and tears running from his eyes - he looks so lost some days - no tears today though - I kept him busy telling me all his classmates names over and again

You are trying to get a video game to work? Karen, I didn't know you played video games. I don't have a DS. Kids only have regular gameboy.

Its not a video - its a thingy that you plug in the back of the ds to download games:rolleyes1

1000!!!!!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

Wisconsinites = 9 families
UK’ers = 6 families
Virginians = 3

Cool figures Nancy - but you forgot to list the one Australian:rotfl2:

Wow that is incredible! We now know 5 percent of the ship

That is soooo cool!:cool1:

Suz and I worked together. That's how we met.

Hey guys,
Like I said DH bought a bunch of glow bracelets to give to kids (big and small) on the ship. If you would like a some for your family please PM and let me know how many and where you would like them deliver them to. I think I will be bringing 200 of them onboard.

Oh how kind! - I have a pack of 5 for Ellis packed in our suitcase already. Cant pack any more *** of the luggage weight allowance - every ounce counts:rolleyes:

Snap is a game of cards - you place a card down in turn and if its a matching pair you shout "snap" and put your hand ontop of the pile of cards - these then become your cards til the others run out of cards.
