So what's it been since I posted this morning? Two maybe three hours? Guess what I did in that time? Chuck wanted to see Cass's video (again) and I went to set up the DVD player but needed to take a VHS tape out first. Brand new player and the stupid tape didn't want to eject. So smart Nancy went and stuck her fingers inside to grab the tape and guess what?

Three stitches later and a chunk of my index finger is gone now! I'm surprised they could leave my finger nail on. It's still numb so I'm not feeling much now. I wouldn't have gone to the hospital but I couldn't get the bleeding to stop.

This post is brought to you by the "6 finger hunt and peck method" of typing.

Must go now and rest...:rotfl2:

Oh my goodness- big hugs Nancy:grouphug: - ouch - it sounds painful...that will teach you for stixking your fingers in strange places;)

I was looking at a post from Michelle's Med Repo cruise and I thought maybe I would bring it up here and get some feedback.

Someone on their ship made a t-shirt design and there's a place online that you can order t-shirts and stuff from with the logo they created. I looked at shipping prices, since sometimes it can cost an arm and a leg to Canada and the UK but the prices were pretty reasonable!

Here's the link with their stuff, have a wee gander and gimme your thoughts.
Like I said this is only an IDEA. It's not gonna crush me if you say "Hmm, I don't think that's a good idea Cass! :sad2: "

Ok, here's a story for you. I thought it was funny. Mike.... not so much.

We both decided since the kids were grown, we would start golfing again... I told mike that it had been so long since I swung a club that I'd like to have some wiffle (plastic) golf balls. So he said when he was out he would pick some up.

A week went by and we were walking through the parking lot of K-Mart... About 20 feet to our left was another guy also walking through the parking lot. As we were walking I said, "Did you ever get any balls?" At that point the guy whipped his head our way. Mike said, "Why don't you say that a little louder?" OOPS! Sorry! :rotfl2:

By the way...No, he hadn't gotten them yet.

But I have them now and I'm kicking butt.

Would it be bad luck to reach 10,000 posts on page 666?

I wonder how Heather's vacation is going.:wizard:

Is this post 10,000????

What about getting your 1,000th post for this thread on page 666? I thought I saw a black cloud over your house. :scared1: Now if you would have done the number on your finger after that, I'd have to think there was a connection.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Sit back and relax for the rest of the day and have a few drinks (like you wouldn't have been doing that anyways). Or were you doing that before you tried getting that tape out.

Congrats on the 10,000th post. Was out enjoying a Brewers loss with the boy. To top it off we had a couple of Braves fans in front of us.

Rest of the weekend was working on the landscaping, tilling the garden, and picking up lumber for an edging on the garden. Couldn't beat the weather we had this weekend. Not too hot and it was sunny the whole weekend. Don't usually get a Memorial Day weekend like this that often in WI.

I didn't see any green, but maybe I didn't look hard enough. But I was thinking maybe using the green KK logo I made, then at least we have some lime green on there. I don't think I could do a WHOLE lime green t-shirt.

Does anyone else want the logo I already made, or should we come up with a new one??

I wish they had a ladies non-plus sized v-neck  I like v-neck, but hopefully I won't be needing a plus size come October :rolleyes1

I was also thinking (hey when you spend a whole freakin' hour on an elliptical, you have some time to think! ) that I would like to put an iron-on transfer on the back with my DIS name. Or maybe DIS name and name like Timon AKA Cass or something???

I remember back when my kids started swimming lessons too. Tony was 8 months old and Kristin was 12 months old. I have video of those little peanuts in the water. They were fearless. I am sorry to hear about your finger. Sad thing is I have done the exact same thing several times with reaching in to get a tape out, but I have never cut myself. I now take that as a warning and make DH do it everytime it needs to be done.;) Not spend a lot of money. Graoceries and gas is what kills me, well eating out also. But this weekend we had no eating out, so proud of us. So how much is gas over there. We are sitting about $3.09 a gal. I would love to have bad weather. We are in the triple digits now and there is no turning back. I want rain. Send it our way please.

Triple digits?? I had a triple digit degree wedding day. In JUNE!! It did cool off late afternoon. It actually fell 30 degrees in 15 minutes.

Hi Paige
Just back from swimming club - its been a busy day.

Will Alex be 8 or still 7 on the cruise? If he's 8 will he be in the big kids group?

Hi everyone

Here are some photos of Ellis from his Beaver trip the other day. The duck he is holding is the school class mascot - he got the "star of the week" award on Friday so he has to bring the duck home for a week and write about what Dylan the Duck did all week.

Its not a huge stadium - it only holds 40,000, there is an old stand that will be replaced in the next few years then the capacity will go up.

Birmingham City have just moved back up to the premiership (Chris and Lindy Loo's team - Man United are in this league too). It means more money for the club and better games. I'm not really into football at all...:rolleyes1 ...if I'm honest it bores me:rolleyes1 , the only time I went to a match was when my friend won VIP tickets and we got a 3 course meal with wine and comfortable seats:rotfl2: - i was a supporter that day;) :cheer2:

Carrie;

Our gas is about $3.47/gallon. I never thought I'd say this, but $3.09 sounds pretty good right about now.:scared1:

Triple digits?? I had a triple digit degree wedding day. In JUNE!! It did cool off late afternoon. It actually fell 30 degrees in 15 minutes.

Looks like we may have some of that rain your looking for. I'll send it south but not until the weekend. :lmao:

Have a great day Carrie.:flower3:

Our wedding days was triple digits in August. Why we did that is beyond me, but we were inside for all of it except for some photos the photograhper wanted. Just durning that time I thought all my makeup melted off.
I could not even imagine $3.47 a gallon, I am having a hard enough time with $3.00.

We know all about rude french people when we visit Disneyland Paris:mad: - they simply havent learnt the art of queuing:mad:

I know nothing about Montreal - more facts please. Look what a good effort Jeff produced once prodded;) - You'll go to the top of the class if you can give me few more facts.:teacher:

Montreal is a great city to visit. Its probably the part of Canada that has really kept its European roots. Small Cafes, people are very fashionable, great restaurants. Its got lots of great entertainment (such as Jazz and comedy festivals in the summer).

However - many people in the whole province of Quebec (where Montreal is) fights for its rights to have the French language/culture recognized as equal to English. You have to remember that when Canada began, the French and the English were equal partners in developing this great country. But the English is not just the primary language in Canada now but pretty well in the world - and the French have never forgiven the English for becoming the more dominant culture.

So every few years, the french/english debate will become a major political issue - and most of the rest of Canada are tired of the debate.

This does not take away from the beauty of the Province/City.

But I have never lived there - just visited several times.

Let's see...

Montreal is the second largest French-speaking city on Earth (after Paris).
It has great food! Montreal is known for:
Smoked meat sandwiches, crusty sesame bagels, pizza, pea soup and Poutine. (It's a good thing I don't live there anymore, I might be 400 lbs!)

Elevation: 118 feet/36 meters
Average Annual Precipitation: 37 inches/94 centimeters
Average January Temperature: 14 degrees F/-10 degrees C
Average July Temperature: 70 degrees F/21 degrees C

Has anyone here gone to the Pirate and Princess party at MK?

Just looking at possibly sneaking in a trip to Orlando over Labor Day Weekend (first weekend in September for you non-USers).

We have a couple of waterpark days left on our park hopper passes that we bought several years ago. I figure we could do Blizzard one day, Typhoon the other, do the party that Friday night (DS is off school that Friday - unlike the other WI students, he starts before Labor Day), and just relax at the hotel pool on the last day.

Flights down are only $203.

Can't remember if the free food thingy is going on at that time. May look into a package deal in that case.

I must have a rash - a Disney rash. This itching for a weekend trip down over Labor Day is really getting me going now.

We can get a Mod Resort for $116 + tx using AAA ($65.60 at AS-Movies, but we've never been to a value and not sure if we'd like it).

The airfare will allow us to get a flight in and earn miles before the flights for Aug '08 come up on Midwest (want to use FF miles for one-way tickets for the front end of the Repo cruise - can't do open-jaw. Suz and DS are just shy of where we need to be for 3 free tickets).

Pirate and Princess Party is going on that Friday night, so no need to buy park tickets, that ticket will suffice our need for the MK.

I looked into the free dining program, but it isn't calculating out to be a good deal. I must be doing something wrong. For PO-Riverside, it is coming up at $1,105 total. That included 1 day park hopper ticket. Even if I use the non-AAA discount for the room, I only come up with $835 ($145 x 3 + 12.5% tax = $489, plus one-day park hopper tickets = $346 total). Not sure what else is getting thrown on there. :confused3 If I use the AAA room rate, it would drop to $737. If we go for the AS-Movies, it would be down to $567 with the AAA room rate.

I put a call into my AAA rep. I need to xfer my cruise anyways to her, so I thought I'd pick her brain on this one.

Not really getting any work done today now.

So it is similar to MNSSHP but with a Pirate and Princess theme?

Do they have a special parade that night? Do they run it twice like the halloween parade?

What time can you "sneak" in to MK? Can you get in at 4 or 5 like with MNSSHP? That would be awsome if we could get an extra 2-3 hours in.

How packed was it? I'm sure it is capacity controlled like MNSSHP or MVMCP.

it is very similar to MNSSHP. they hand out pirate bags with candy and necklaces for princesses. they do have a parade. i can't remember if it was twice. you can sneak in at 4:30. that is what we heard. it wasn't too crowded. it was like the other two parties. i would definitely do it!!!

So here's our plan:

fly down on Friday morning, going to the P&P Party that night, Typhoon on Saturday followed by Downtown Disney and then the hotel pool, Blizzard on Sunday with the same evening, and then sleep in on Monday, swim for a couple of hours and then hit DTD one last time before heading to MCO.

If this is our plan, would you spend the extra $ to stay at a nicer hotel (moderate) with a pool that has a slide? Both Coronado and PO-R have slides, I don't think the Values do (we are looking at the Movies, since AAA has it for $65.60). We probably will be in the room/resort more based on this plan. The total upcharge would be $175 for the weekend.

Anyone use the "Magical Express" to/from MCO/WDW?

How long did you have to wait to get on the bus?

How far before your return flight do they leave the hotel?

Just wondering if we should rent a car. We usually do and we can get around really easy (seems like we wait too long for buses in TL and BB). Plus, we could leave when we want.

Both Coronado and PO-R have slides, I don't think the Values do (we are looking at the Movies, since AAA has it for $65.60). We probably will be in the room/resort more based on this plan. The total upcharge would be $175 for the weekend.

I would stay value. The pools don't have a slide but you will be on the cruise in 1 1/2 months with a slide. Kids love pools no matter what.
Sounds like a perfect weekend.

We have used Magical Express. it was very easy. When you get off the plane you go to their counter and they take care of everything. I don't remember waiting long. On the way back, the bus picked us up about 2 hours before our flight. We set that up the night before we were to fly home. i will definitely use it again. Acutally i am in october.:goodvibes

I know this isnt about the cruise - but we are now thinking of going to the Halloween party before the cruise.

Questions:

1. is it really all that much fun?
2. Tickets prices are around $35/person - is that all I have to pay if I go to Magic Kingdom at 7pm? or do I need to pay for a Park Hopper for the whole day PLUS another $35?
3. Anyone have pictures?

We think it's fun. It is capacity controlled, so there will be no more than 25,000-30,000 people tops, so you can get on all the rides pretty easy. The characters are in costumes and they pass out candy everywhere. There are special fireworks and parade.

What we have done in the past is NOT use a park ticket on that day. We'd instead go to a waterpark (if you have the plus feature) or relax at the hotel. The party doesn't technically start until 7:00, but you can usually get in around 4:30. It is an inexpensive way to go to the MK.

I'd have to look for some of our pictures. They are on the computer at home, so I'll have to look tonight.

Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking that as well since we will be in the waterparks for 2 days. Although, DS does like the slides.

Also, I'm not sure if Suz will want to go for it. She is use to the Mods (P.O. in particular) since those are the only ones we've stayed at. We'd be staying at Movies if that makes a difference (not sure how that compares to the other Values).

The $175 savings over 3 days is pretty big.

The only thing is, is that we'd probably be at the resort more this trip than others.

Decisions, decisions. :confused3

hi guys, mike here. mom came home and seems to be doing well. thanks for the pixiedust. very stressful week.
lots of demons up at that hospital in cleveland. thats where i had my valves replaced 7 years ago. somewhere i picked up a staff infection that got into my blood and attacked the heart and ate the valves. it was very touch and go for a while.
while visiting my mom last week robin would walk down the hall and say"you were in that room and that room" shed look in the room and i told her "im not in there now" it was a scary time and she literally brought me back to life.
ok enough depressing stuff. we are ready for a cruise!!!!

I'm going to have to keep my wife off of this site. I feel guilty waiting so long to book a cruise and to boot hearing all of you doing tons of DS stuff before the cruise makes it worse. Made a snap decision to book the cruise last week - couldn't get any of the rooms we wanted so I settle for the front of deck 5 or something like that. Boy I hope I can switch that room out sometime before setting sail.

I didn't consider taking the family to WDW in front of the cruise, just trying to cut my teeth on the cruise itself. Anyone recommend doing land and cruise first go around? Sounded like a lot of work to me and scares the heck out of me. Until you spend the day with our two very hyper DS's 10 & 10, you have no idea what work is. Any opinions? I have not locked in my flights yet and would consider adding a day or two on land if it doesn't drive one insane.

Jerk--

Are you wanting to fly out of Milwaukee or Chicago. We, of course, would have preferred going out of Mitchell, but found it was 50% less to fly out of O'Hare. I know some of our fellow cheeseheads got some good deal out of Milwaukee, but they were much more organised than we are. We are flying down Friday evening and flying home the following Sunday morning because our original flight was already cancelled. :scared: Are your 10-year olds twins? My DS will be 10 on the cruise as well. We live in the northern Racine, actually Caledonia, so we must be very close to y'all!

If we go for the AS-Movies, it would be down to $567 with the AAA room rate.

.

sounds like a great disney fix. we could use one. we are thinking of doing a niagra falls weekend in july. havnt been there for a few years.
its frustrating with robins new job, she doesnt get much time off yet so it has to be weekend trips.
we are thinking of doing wdw next march or april.

Victoria,
We are going out of O'Hare. We booked travel at same time as cruise. It may have been cheaper to bust it in two pieces but Expedia does all of the work and handles the flights, transport, whole shootin match. I guess we just show up, check our luggage and follow the yellow brick road connected by dots after that. Not sure we even see our luggage until we board. They don't secure the flights right away though so I was considering adding a day or two to the trip.

I must be across the street somewhere from you right now. I'm on the south side of Hwy K in Franksville and I go across the street and I am in Caledonia. My office is located here, it's about a 9 minute drive home on hwy V.

I have opinions on both for you. I did the land/cruise option when I was 13. We had 3 days on land and 4 days on the cruise. As a 13 year old I loved it except for the fact that I felt like I did not get to do everything in 3 days. So I was bummed out about that. Now as for this trip. We are only doing the 7 day cruise. To catch you up I am traveling with our family of 3 kids, 12, 10, and 5 and my parents. My health has been poor for the past few year, now improving, my mothers health is real bad. So to save on us we decided that it would be less stressful on us (the women) to only have to unpack and repack one time during the trip and not run around like chickens with our heads cut off. Part of me wishes that we are doing the land but I don't think the 5 year old would appreciate it at this point. We are planning and a land trip in another year or so, so we can spend a full 7 days. Hope this helps you some.

Oh our DS is 11. So maybe the boys can get together on the ship.

Then there was the time Mike was outside on the step ladder. I was in the house. When I went outside the ladder was lying on the ground and Mike was laid out on the cement. You know that initial "blood running cold" feeling you get when something bad happens. Well, I got it. I went over to him and he started laughing.

Needless to say, The first thing I said was "YOUR SUCH AN A**HOLE! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"

His response... "I'm sorry, but it was funny."

I think we may book another while on board this time. We've often thought "briefly" (very briefly) about booking a cruise with another cruise line just to see what the others are like but, I'm afraid we'll be disappointed. You can't go wrong with Disney. (They are a little pricey, but we love it.)

I think this is our fourth. We booked this cruise around the same date on 2005, but thanks to Hurricane Wilma, were diverted to the Eastern. Still a good time though.

We met some great people on that cruise and are cruising together on this one. (Walt & Di, and Timon (Cass & Rob))

Hi Bill!!!!! Welcome. We did the grand gathering pirate cruise for wishes in Feb. it was awesome!!!! What a great job to get to take people to do something so special and that they have been looking forward to. I always say I will retire in Fla and work parttime for Disney. You are living my dream!!!!
Not too fond of the state trooper thing though since I just got my first ticket a couple of weeks ago. Failure to display front tags. A state trooper had brought the tag to our house the week before. My husband didn't even know it had been knocked off. They had found it on the side of the road in a neighboring county. We had the part ordered and I had the plate in the front seat beside me and showed it to him and told him the story. But I got a ticket anyway. He said when we got it put back on the take a picture of it and bring it to court and they would drop everything. But I still have to take 1/2 day off work and pay court fees. It just stinks!!!! Oh well, I was wrong and he had a job to do.:sad2:

AHHHH, I am such and over achiever at everything that it is really starting to get to me. It must be as I get older I can not do as much or something. I am one of those people that have to be busy from the time I roll out of bed to the time I crawl back into it. Someone please find my off button so I can decompress. I need to do that before the cruise or I might go nuts on the plane. :)

Evening Cass,

How are you? It's 1:30 here and I can't sleep tonight for some reason.

Question for you. You and Mike were talking about upgrades at port the last time you sailed in October. Do you mind me asking what Category you booked, what upgrade Category you got, and what the cost of the upgrade was?

Just curious. Thanks.

Good morning everyone:goodvibes

Firstly and most importantly -

Dust stuff by the truck load for Nancy today - fingers and toes still crossed Nancy:hug:

Lots of pages to catch up on - :yay: - I like it when you've been chatty - gives me something to do while I drink my morning cuppa.:thumbsup2

So here's our plan:

If this is our plan, would you spend the extra $ to stay at a nicer hotel (moderate) with a pool that has a slide? Both Coronado and PO-R have slides, I don't think the Values do (we are looking at the Movies, since AAA has it for $65.60). We probably will be in the room/resort more based on this plan. The total upcharge would be $175 for the weekend.

I would do the value and spend your money elsewhere. They are fine for the short break. Ask your ds what he could spend $175 on - I bet he could give you a list:rotfl:

Karen,

I see your light on, where did you go? :confused3

I keep telling you Jeff, my light maybe on, but it doesnt mean anyones home:rotfl: - I leave it on all day til I log off at night.

We're doing it on the 16th - its our first time - cant wait!

I have some pics posted on my website:

http://www.cassworld.ca/mnsshp2005.htm

http://www.cassworld.ca/mnsshp2003.htm

and I have a video as well:

http://www.cassworld.ca/videosmnsshp.htm

We LOVE MNSSHHP! We're going back on October 14th before the cruise!

Great photos, pity you arent on the 16th - I could have got to those Kira cheeks before Nancy:goodvibes

hi guys, mike here. mom came home and seems to be doing well. thanks for the pixiedust. very stressful week.
lots of demons up at that hospital in cleveland. thats where i had my valves replaced 7 years ago. somewhere i picked up a staff infection that got into my blood and attacked the heart and ate the valves. it was very touch and go for a while.
while visiting my mom last week robin would walk down the hall and say"you were in that room and that room" shed look in the room and i told her "im not in there now" it was a scary time and she literally brought me back to life.
ok enough depressing stuff. we are ready for a cruise!!!!

Oh Mike - you poor thing...I bet it was awful for you:hug: I'm glad your Mom is now home, loads more dust stuff coming her way for a speedy recovery.

WE PAID OUR CRUISE OFF TODAY. TIME FOR A HAPPY DANCE.:thumbsup2

Woo Hoo:cool1: - well done!

Hello all,

We'll be on this cruise also, it'll be our 4th, 2x on the Wonder and this will be the 2nd on the Magic. We're going to see about some excursions this time around, usually we've just gone out on our own.

See you there...

Take care,

Bill

Welcome Bill:welcome: party: :welcome: We're quite a chatty bunch, keep posting and just jump right in.

Another story...

He's a sick puppy. :confused3 .

I'd have picked up the bl**dy ladder and hit him with it, and said "Now THATS funny."

Hello again,

It's just me and my wife Jeanne. This will be our 2nd Western Carib cruise. We booked this one while on our last one, got the discounted rate and the shipboard credit. We'll also be doing the Romance package again, we feel it's well worth the extra money. We'll be in a Cat 6 cabin, which is what we booked last time, although last time we got upgraded to a Cat 4!!!

Anyway, I'm a retired State Trooper and presently a current part time CM, doing specialty cruises for Wishes.

Take care,

Bill

What a great job Bill!

EXCELLENT! :cheer2: Now we have a pro amongst the Konked Kruisers. (That's our nickname). I believe a few of our KK's are doing a Wishes cruise. Karen? Brenda? Isn't this what you are planning on?

We were Nancy, but loads of people off the Dibb dropped out so we gave it up. Hopefully we'll do it next visit - whenever that will be:confused3

I find it hard to wind down too. On a relaxing beach holiday it takes me days and days to wind down to "beach mode" - ie sitting on a lounger watching the world go by.

Just finished my date with my elliptical. Not a bad date really. I use and abuse him for an hour then I ignore him for 23 hours. He never complains. He never whines. Not bad.

Question for you. You and Mike were talking about upgrades at port the last time you sailed in October. Do you mind me asking what Category you booked, what upgrade Category you got, and what the cost of the upgrade was?

Just curious. Thanks.

We booked a cat 9 and upgraded at the port to a cat 6 for about $354 USD I believe. If I had booked a cat 6 originally, it would have been over $1000. So it was a good deal. If you want to upgrade, make sure that you go to the upgrade desk (furthest check in desk towards the ship) as soon as possible! I would maybe send Suz there while you check-in or vice-versa. And if you can't get what you want at that time, keep checking with them as people will upgrade. So if you are looking for a cat 9 to cat 6, maybe at 10:30 am they may not have any BUT at 10:45 let's say someone in a cat 6 was upgraded to a cat 4, then there would be a cat 6 open now!

Well done Cass - you'll be a real beach babe by October.

Okay, so I went ahead and made up a design for the t-shirts. As requested, I kept the kk logo I had made before (DIS green mickey head) and added the flags for our trip. Now the only thing I worry about the flags is that we get rerouted or stuck on an Eastern cruise.

Here's the logo I came up with:

http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l120/timoncass/kkshirt.jpg

I hope it's ok and everyone likes it. If not, you can always gimme some criticism, don't worry, I take it well.

If a majority of you like it then we will stick with it and we can go from there.

And because I can't sleep, I looked into the cafe press store and opened a storefront for our logo merchandise. It's really easy to change the logo on the shirts should we decided we want a different one, so no panicking if you really hate the logo. Just gives you a better idea on how the shirts will look like with the logo on it.

Here's our store...

http://www.cafepress.com/konkedkruisers

So, don't buy anything until we get a majority vote here about the logo. Like I said, no biggie if I need to change it.

Please, let me know if the logo is a YAY or NAY for you, either here or by PM.
But if you say NAY please let me know what you don't like about it or what you would like to change/add so that I know what to do with it.

I really like it - my only comment would be to move the flags down just a tiny bit so they arent quite as close to the bottom of the ears if that would be possible..

I think it looks great with or without the flags..:thumbsup2

Would be fab for the group photo:cool1:

I'd definately get one for me and ds. I'd have the v neck, do they do kids t shirts? couldnt see one on he store? Hubby might even wear one if persuaded with enough beer;)

Thanks for organising this Cass:hug:

Carrie, we are doing the Dune Buggies on Cozumel. It's a DCL excursion that's brand new. I couldn't even get any feedback on it from the regular cruise thread. We are winging it in GC. DD Kristin gets car sick VERY easily and we're planning on a taxi tour of GC but not sure if she can handle it. Hi everyone! :flower3: I haven't been on in a while but wanted to pop in and say hi. We are in the midst of the end of school, baseball and dance recital so it's been crazy. I'm sure you all can relate to the craziness. I cannot wait for school to be OVER! June 11th for DS. DD was finished last Tuesday. I hope everyone is doing well. pixiedust: to anyone who needs it right now. Welcome to all the new recruits! :welcome:

I did read tidbits about some of you supporting eachother on getting in shape for this cruise. Count me in! About 3 weeks ago I completely cut out pop, coffee (loaded with creamer, which was my downfall), and most sweet stuff. Plus I started working out several times a week. So far lost about 10 pounds, which stuns me. I wasn't too concerned with losing weight, just getting toned. Now I need to focus on that! My goal is to look better than my sister on the cruise. :teeth:

Jessalyn-
I can't wait for these kids to all meet!! They are going to have a blast! I'll tell Hayden and Gwynne about Spencer and Avery. I've been trying to update them on all the kids who are cruising from this thread.

Take care everyone! Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll be able to join in more.

Let me know when things calm down and we should get the kids emailing each other - I find the Kids Board pretty dominated by the teenage girls - I know my son doesnt like all the babble about boys and stuff. My daughter likes Gwynne's ballet pictures and she says that they are already friends because they both take ballet (ahh to be 5 again!)

We just finished our quiet lull between seasons so now we are into swimming, baseball, and soccer. but we will definately find time for dis-emailing

I've decided on a place called Studley castle. 3 couples (my oldest friends)
will wine and dine in all our finery (I'll be in the same dress on formal night;) ), then overnight in the castle. Sounds like fun.

I have booked us the best suite they have. I'll be taking my own cake - ( georgous cheesecake of course:rolleyes1 ) and lots of champagne and red wine.:yay:

WOW that soudns awesome - my 40th is next week and I dont think we have planned anything yet (the real present is the cruise). We may go to Il Fornella for dinner with the kids.

Okay Cheryl, here's the Pirate 2 premiere scoop!!!........

Our husbands are "Pirates" freaks.pirate: From the moment they saw the original Pirates 1 they counted the days until the second movie was released! So, to surprise them, we sent them on a 3 day Disney Cruise to the Bahamas so that they could say they saw the premiere of Pirates 2 while they were floating around the Caribbean!! pirate:

It was great......First, we gave them each a card. Inside the card we had written a riddle for them. To solve the riddle, they had to go through the house looking for a series of clues. Each clue led them to the next, until the final clue, which was a treasure map. We then made them use this treasure map to go on a scavenger hunt through the yard. Each clue led them to the next (from finding a beer on the basketball hoop, to getting shovels out of the garage, to jumping fences, etc.) until they found an "X", which marked the spot of the buried treasure. (We actually made them dig up a little treasure box which we had buried the day before!!):lmao: Inside the treasure chest was their plane tickets and spending money.

At this point they still didn't know where they were going, only that they were flying to Orlando. On the flight down, they were each given 10 envelopes to open at specific times during the flight. They were silly little messages like "I love you" or "Where's the rum", etc. The last envleope they opened instructed them to call us as soon as they arrived in the terminal and had gathered their luggage. When they called, we instructed them to the car rental terminal. (We had prearranged for them to be given a convertible for the next two days!!!) They picked up their red Sebring convertable and we told them that the day was theirs to enjoy......to do whatever they wanted. (They chose to go to Tampa for the day to Clearwater Beach!!! They had a blast!):yay:

We next instructed them to proceed to my husbands Aunt Mary's (she happens to live in Orlando!) They spent the evening with her, still not knowing what they were doing. (They wondered if somehow they were going to a special premiere of the movie at Magic Kingdom!) We told them to call us the next morning at 7:15 am for further instruction. When they called us, we told them that their final clue was at the bottom of Aunt Mary's pool and they had to both dive in to get it!!! :goodvibes (Aunt Mary is in on everything by the way!) They dove to the bottom and retrieved their final clue. They had to redeem this clue to Aunt Mary to get their prize. In turn, she handed them a package (wrapped in pirate paper of course) and they opened it. (we are listening to all of this on a speaker phone by the way). Inside was their boarding packet for the ship!!!! Well, they were like two little boys. We could hear them screaming and yelling, saying "NO WAY" "NO WAY"!!!! They were very surprised!!!! We finally had to interupt all the celebrating to tell them to get going because the ship was leaving that afternoon!!!:cool2:

Needless to say, they had a blast dressed in their pirate costumes at the premier that weekend on the ship!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Would everyone like to try and get a group photo of the Konkers at some point onboard? Maybe we could organise it for after the dinners and shows on formal night? Just a thought. Maybe we could all meet up for a drink afterwards and get us all in one big photo:confused3

We used to do a group shot on the American tours we went on. We have some amazing photos - on the grass outside the whitehouse, on the steps of some government building, etc. It would be a great memory and keepsake.

Is anyone else interested or am I being crazy?:rotfl: :confused3 :rotfl:

love the idea of a group shot on pirates night or formal night

Okay, I will work on the logo tonight after elliptical, got some good feedback so maybe I will do a few versions and perhaps Jeff can post a poll on the KK board and see what we want. :rolleyes1

The reason I placed the flags all across like that was because I could only find a Conch Republic flag that was short like that, unlike the other 3 long ones, so they wouldn't balance very well if I place them another way, but if someone found a long one, needs to be at least 600 pixels in length, then I can change that. :)

Karen--I can relate to the sore legs! Rob and I haven't been able to consistently work out for the last couple of weeks with the move coming up and my little knee injury, so when we do get to work out, I am so sore the next day. We didn't get to go yesterday, so we are going today..........SORE tomorrow!:scared:

Cass- cute design. We'll probably get some, too. Karen, you can bribe Neil by telling him other guys will be wearing the shirt, or at least Rob will be wearing the shirt!:)

Jeff- I'm still interested in the bracelets. Just let me know if there is enough interest and when you want to order.:thumbsup2

Ok I have to admit that the I have not been to on board with the shirt thing, but DH was on board as soon as it was mentioned. Do we have an idea of cost with these because it is now growing on me that I saw the design. Only question is what happens if we don't hit the ports we are supposed to, do we still want the flags just in case?

Carrie,

If you go to http://www.cafepress.com/konkedkruisers you will see the available shirts, with prices there as well. Also somewhere on the site you can find the shipping rates as well, so you can choose whatever products you want. I think the cheapest is a basic tee for $10 I believe.

I will make several versions of the logo tonight, one without the flags and then hopefully a mod will post a poll on the KK board and we can vote on our fave one. So if you have any suggestions for the logo, PM me before tonight.

Nancy, I did not back read far enough to see what the results of your test were related to but it sounds like everyone is relieved. Best wishes from the new guy here!

Cass, what's the logo for regarding shirts? Looks kind of "clicky" or like some "secret society", not much a secret though with a bright green logo. Not a fan of green but very nice work! Agreed flags are too close to the rest though. Need any help recreating flags from scratch or anything, I'm more than happy to help. I'm president of two organizations; a network security services firm and a non-profit organization providing services to people with disabilities. One pays the bills and one in turn gives back to the community. As well I am a proud Rotarian. However my passions are in art & music as well the bulk of my telents. Someday I will retire and find the perfect Island to catch up with my hobbies.

I have considered renting an island recently, has anyone else considered this? I found one called Melody Maker in the Keys. It's about $7k a week for the first couple to rent it out, seemed reasonable and probably least expensive of the islands I seen. Owner is one of the band members from a group called 311, young guy.

Anyways, I am still trying to catch up with everyone and figuring who is who! You can call me Jerk for short or John. I go by Jerk merely because my wife refers to me as Jerkface. Oddly enough I don't have a knickname for her, just "wife" or "hon". :flower3:

Hi Jerk/John

Its not clicky or secret at all. We're just a bunch of friendly and supportive people who have been chatting for months now and got to know each other well. This thread is not just about Disney cruising, its about people who have real lives, real ups and downs and who all happen to like Disney too.

Some joined fairly recently, others have been on here for months and chat regularly. I will be honest with you - I for one was quite offended and annoyed at your first post on this thread. I found your comments uncalled for, judgemental and unnecessary, and wished you had simply introduced yourself and your family then you may have received a warmer welcome.

Ok, I'm off my soap box now....bygones

So last March Kristin applied for her passport on 3/13, Stacy 3/16, Tony 3/23 and Jesse sometime in April.

Kristin, Stacy and Jesse's all show up as being processed but nothing is found on Tony's. Do you think we should be worried yet? Funny that Jesse's is being processed and he went the week after Easter for his.

None of the passports were received yet.

Edited: All checks were cashed already...weeks ago.

Nancy, the passport agency told us that they were dedicated to getting them processed within 10 weeks but we've heard people say they've gotten their's at around 12 weeks, so by my count they should be receiving them within the next week to 2 weeks....the April one should be about July. Still you'll have them way before the cruise.

I'm sending mine and Sean's in within the next week....so I probably should get mine back sometime in September, but if it's a bit later....then we still have most of the month of October to get them back.

This one sounds pretty typical but, here goes.

It was our first cruise. We were crossing the river and you know how exciting it is when you come up over that last hill and see the ships in Port Canaveral... Well, we came up over that last hill and I said "Oh my gosh, Look how big it is." And of course Mike said, "I was hoping you would say that when we got to the cabin."
He's such a guy! (no offense guys) :rolleyes1

I got a million of them.

Karen, I totally see your point. I might have gotten the same vibe in your shoes. Truthfully, the DISboards is huge. The first day I must have had 12 windows open in my browser researching the DIS stuff trying to book a cruise at the same time and on top of that the customer service rep lost one of my cabins I had on hold and I was scrambling to book and keep from losing another, very stressful. I actually didn't catch the "MEET" in the thread. When I saw pages and pages of brief posts from the same user a minute or two apart it was easy to assume runaway thread.

I totally get the vibe being in the MEET thread now. Anyways, sorry if I offended you, definitely was not my intention. No need to take me to school, although I don't mind an occassional smack with the ruler. :headache:
I think it's great to experience relationships before sailing together. Having never sailed before I gotta believe it would make a huge vessel more cozy.
