Hi everyone,

I've been trying to keep up with the posts, but everyone is getting so chatty that it is difficult. I don't blame you - I would be the same way IF I was still going on this cruise. We have gone ahead and written it off at this point. I'm so jealous - I plan to follow the posts from the ship though so keep us informed.

Pal Mickey - I have the original also. I liked it but Curt hated the corny jokes. The last time I was in the World, I took it with me but only carried it in the parks one day.

Kelly - Are you still planning on a pre-cruise get-together at Downtown Disney on April 12th? I had not heard any more mention of this since your first post.

Hey, Susie, I'm sorry to hear you have made it official. BUT, am so very glad we got to meet at DL and will see you many times in our future. Apparently, we'll be standing next to each other at a show - I'll look up next time!!!!:rolleyes1

Thanks everyone for the Pal Mickey info everyone, we will get it as soon as we get there.

Yes, we are still planning our Dis-meet 4/12 at Naples - downtown Disney Time: TBD. Please come everyone who is available.

Welcome Maria and Juergen. If you have not done so already click on page 143 and read the first post. It has lots of information you will want to know.

What part of Germany are you from? My husband travels to Germany frequently to work and also has family in the small town of Biblis. We have just started learning to speak German becuase it looks like we may be lucky enough to get to live there for two or three years while my husband is working there.

Thanks everyone for the congrats....it is very exciting. I can't take full credit since I'm primarily just their tumbling instructor...their main coach does most of their stunting and dancing training...but it's nice to be a part of it, nonetheless. And they're very excited about this accomplishment because the team they beat and forced into second place was trying to make this their NINTH straight national title in a row...so not only did they win the big one, but they unseated a formidable and talented squad in doing so!:cheer2:

So far this is the information we have received:
1 formal night
2 semi formal nights
Yes, on the pirate party going eastbound, won't know the date until about 30 days out according to the CM I talked to.

High Tea and Brunches are available on sea days. Movie schedule will be available towards end of April. We are hoping to see POC III on the release date on the ship.

That's about it from this end.

I thought you were going this past weekend. The town was full of bicycles for a big ride they do every year - it would not have been the best weekend for a casual visit.

We spend one night in Solvang as part of the Arthritis Ride. We camp out behind the mission.

Enjoy your trip.

We went to Animal Kingdom today.... now I know why we have only been there 3 times since it opened... it was boring!!!! We spent the whole day walking back and forth to get fast pass tickets, we only had an hour between each scheduled time between fast passes, so we couldn't visit another part of the park or we would miss our time. Lunch was bad.. there was no place to sit, and it was so crowded we felt like cattle.

I think we will stick to EPCOT for now on....

by the way, here is my puppy picture.
She decided to grab a pair of DD's underwear...

WOW! I can't belive you don't like Animal Kingdom. We LOVE the shows (haven't been since Nemo opened--still mourning loss of Tarzan Rocks). Festival of the Lion King is my FAVOURITE attraction on property. I admit it can get very hot and crowded (why we do not go to WDW in high season). Even Flights of Wonder is a blast. We always scheudle our day there around the shows an if we miss rides, so be it (my two cents for those of you who may have never been there).

Well guess what! We had an earthquake tonight! :scared1: :scared1: There was a 3.6 earthquake just south of me and I did feel it! We don't have those here. An occasional tremor but usually out in the lake. I hope no more are on the horizon

I checked one more thing off of my to do list: Made my flight reservations from Barcelona to Paris. Now I only have to figure out how to get from the port to the airport and the airport to DLP.

It is getting closer!!

It sounds like you aren't aware of the secret of fastpasses - the only time that counts is the first one. You can't get in early but you don't have to worry about the end time - they are good all day.

60 days until we leave!!!! Can it get any better than this??? Tomorrow it is less than 2 months!!! YEAH!!!

Ok, I have to ask if anyone else is going and NOT bringing their kids/teens? Our kids did not do well in school for the first semester and we could not justify letting them miss two weeks of school. So they are staying with grandparents while we do an adults only cruise. How bad/mean are we? :confused3

That's a great idea!! I never thought about doing that. My in-laws from Morocco are meeting us for the 11 day Med. cruise. We could spend a pre-cruise day together!!!

If anyone needs info on Morocco, let me know. DH was born and raised there...We could even do a group trip over if anyone is interested!

If you find a ferry company, let me know. I'm gonna look into it as well...

COOL! I was wondering if I was being crazy...LOL I would love to go with a group instead of on my own. I think DH would feel more comfortable about that too.... There is a website of a private guide that is recommended on tripadvisor I was looking at: www.d-destination.com
I am just not sure if time will permit for it.

Debbie use VEA to get to DLP from the airports, easy and pretty efficient http://www.vea.fr/uk/index.asp.

Hadley and Eric, AK is also one of our favorites. Maybe it is my Environmental Ed background, living in WY, or having been a National Park Ranger at one time, who knows. Critters are KEWL.

Welcome Aboard to our new cruisers from Germany, KEWL !!!!

Debbie an earthquake and I thought Cleveland Rocked!!!!

Kissimmee, I like the idea of a barking suit case, ours are too big and we would have to pay a lot in extra fees. LOL I would just tell the cruise line folks you work for Disney and are working on a new audio animatronics. Yeah that would work…. :thumbsup2

Debbie, We heard about the earthquake on our news last night and, of course, we laugh in the face of a 3.6 :lmao: I wondered if it was anywhere near you.

I'm really, really just kidding! Any time the earth moves when you are not expecting it to is terrifying. I've lived in earthquake county my entire life and lived through some really big ones 6+ and it is always scary. The 3.0 and under don't even make the news here. But each point that it goes up is like the power doubles. We haven't had one in a long time. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Yes, we too love AK. We are planning our entire trip around AK. I plan to visit Eric's room every day!

Wow! KEWL on the earthquake. Well, not really KEWL, but KEWL.

When we went to DLP, we took the Disney buses from the airport right to the DLP hotel. Worked out great. Of course the buses have DISNEY all over them. Here's my little story-Jamie (dd 15) and I surprised DH Robert for Thanksgiving in 2003 (I think) and put him on a plane to a place unknown. We got off the plane in Atlanta (so he thought he was going to visit his sister) and then we went to the international terminal. He didn't know where in the world we were going until we boarded the plane for Paris. Now, DH does not have Disney on the brain like I do, so he thought, Paris, how KEWL. Spend Thanksgiving in Paris. Well, got off the plane in Paris, headed to ground transporation and :wizard: ta-da there was the Disney bus all in it's glory. DH response.....I should have known..... is there a Disneyland in Paris? Of course there is, that's why we are here! Spent the next four days in Paris and had a great time. Did a tour one day through the Disney hotel we stayed at and did the city tour with the Eiffel tower and the whole thing. Had a blast!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I talked to the disney cruise line today and they said that we will have a midnight curfew to be back on the ship. Has anyone else heard this? Why would we have a curfew? Am I missing something?

My guess is some people will sneak off on Friday once we are in Barcelona and not come back on the ship Friday night. We should be clearing customs on Friday, so I am not sure what the deal would be. They might want the curfew in place so they can get ready for disembarkation on Saturday morning and then kick us off again bright and early? I'll make some calls when I get a chance and see if I can find out anything.

Lanyard Team - it all started with the May 2005 repo cruise. Actually, I guess it started on the 2004 Xmas cruise. Some of our disboard friends made buttons for everyone with their disboard names on them. And I saw another persons name tag from a previous cruise that she had in a plastic badge holder. So, as the May repo got closer and people started talking about sailaway gifts - I though it would be cool to make custom lanyards and name badges as our sailaway gift. But as I started looking into the cost - it became clear that it was going to cost more then we could do on our own. So I was talking to another repo cruiser about my idea and they said they would help with the cost. We asked around on the thread and we got about 10 people to help with the cost. We made about 350 name tags and lanyards for that cruise.

Then we did it again for the 11 day Wonder cruise. Many of the same people were on that cruise, so we had some of the May repo lanyard team and a few new folks.

This will be our third time doing the name badges and lanyards. It has been a challenge this time doing it for 2 cruises at the same time.

The lanyards and name badges make a great souvenir of the cuise and they really do make a great place to carry your key to the world card. We use ours when we go to Disneyland to carry our passes and fast passes.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Ken

The lanyard stories continues: I liked the lanyards so much and thought Ken did such a great job, I made lanyards and badges for the Wonder 10 day Southern Carrib. Cruise (just before the one Ken did-we did B2B cruises). He helped with some practical aspect of the process, but they had to be good knowing his lanyards/badges would be next! They were very good, but Ken sets the bar pretty high.

This past weekend we were at WDW and saw a new design on the DCL buses. The new design has porthole style windows and the paint job on the bus has the ship's colors instead of white with red/blue trim. They look great! Much more distinctive and eye catching than the previous design.

Well I am annoyed with our bank right now!

Not only do all the bank credit cards I own charge the current foreign exchange plus 2.5% fee on top of it-I just got a notice that my bank is doing the same for foreign exchange ATM/debit transactions.

Well I'd better stock up on travellers checks now.

Anybody find a hotel that will allow 2 adults and 2 kids in the room in Barcelona that isn't close to 300 Euro's? Trying to find a hotel but the only one we have found that is in a central location is the Best Western Regina hotel in downtown Barcelona that will take 2 adults and 2 kids in a room. The rest have been 3 max to a room so we would have to get 2 rooms.

We've had the same problem. Even rooms for three are much pricier than those for two (we could put one of our kids with their grandparents). We'd rather not stay at the airport as it is hard to see the city from there. So, we told our friend who used to live in Barceloan this last weekend and he is calling some friends who still live there to have them find us something. He says there are still many good, safe places which you can't really find online in which to stay. I will let you know if we get any good leads.

I will post an update as soo nas I can. In the mean time we have reserved rooms at the Marriot by the airport (115 Euros per night) just so we do not get stuck with nothing. These can be cancelled with no penalty all the way up until May 26 at 6:00 pm local time. I'm going with better safe than sorry here (I think these rooms max out at 3 people though also).

We did the same. We are booked at the Renaissance by Marriott at the airport for 115 euros per night and they offer a free airport shuttle. Since our flight was out at 7 a.m. on Monday morning, figured, we would be close so it would be easy getting over to the airport.

It sounds like you aren't aware of the secret of fastpasses - the only time that counts is the first one. You can't get in early but you don't have to worry about the end time - they are good all day.

I guess we have never needed them before... we typically only go after 4pm, or when it's slow. I would have never gone during spring break, but DD wanted to go badly I caved.

We'll see how MGM is this Friday. DD wants to see the High School Musical Pep Rally. At least we won't need fast passes...:rolleyes1

Cheers!!

I checked one more thing off of my to do list: Made my flight reservations from Barcelona to Paris. Now I only have to figure out how to get from the port to the airport and the airport to DLP.

It is getting closer!!

Debbie[/QUOTE]

Debbie, Did you book on Easyjet with the same flight as me to Paris? Like I said we are staying in Paris for a few days before going to DLP, but plan on taking the train. I think its the "A" line, all the way to the Marne la vallee/ chessy station right at DLP. It looks pretty easy.

Will be great to cruise with people who know something about my hometown.

Kurt, I think the highway between Lafayette and Greencastle is US231. A snake wandering road. Greencastle is where we got our last beagle from.

[/B]!

Of course it's 231 - the old fact-checker on this computer must have not been working for this particular post. IN421 goes to Michigan City. I'll have to have this computer upgraded with the latest version of Fact Checker 10.2.4.3.7 (right after Vista 2.5 comes out with service pack 1.8)

For those of you that are still researching airfares (like us) from Barcelona back to the U.S. (or Canada), you might want to try -

www.kayak.com , or
www.sidestep.com

select the "one way" radial button at the top. Both of these are websites that scan multiple travel websites and consolidate the findings into a single page, sorted based on cost. There have been one-way airfares less than $500/pp (including taxes/fees) from Barcelona (BCN) back to the U.S. on both 5/26 and 5/27 (I checked flights from BCN to both DFW and Orlando - airport code MCO). They also work for U.S. domestic flights if you are still looking for airfare to Orlando (or Tampa or Daytona Beach etc.)

After having had to mow, trim, and clean-up the lawn for the first time this year over the weekend, you can color me ready to cruise. T minus two months (less one day) and counting. . . .

Also, Eddie Murphy was our waiter and he was walking all of your dogs after the meal. It was weird, all the dog pictures were very clear in my head. I woke up and was wide awake, I don't know if it was worse that I was with the most boring neighbor in the world or that I had missed all the disboard events. :scared1: DH says, "well, we can tell its getting closer - you're dreaming about it"

Do you live close to the shipyard where the two new Disney ships will be built? That would be great if you are close enough so you could keep going on tours to check out the progress for us once they are under construction!

Hi guys,
Zoe and I just came back from a surprise trip to CAdv. It was a surprise trip to go to the Aladdin show and lunch to practice our good theater and restaurant manners. We do this periodically to just do one or two things to practice. She was so surprised and had such a good time. We had great weather, but man was it crowded! C.A. is our place to go for a quiet, calm easy going fun park - Zoe learned how to walk in this park. I don't know if we are getting the really, really early spring break crowds or if everyone else has figured out our little secret. BUT still a fun mom and daughter day (or a few hours anyway.)

Yeah, I heard about your earthquake! my goodness! I hope the Madrid fault doesn't go!

And it's very easy to get from the port to the Barcelona airport. I spoke with a man who lives in Barcelona, because we thought we'd need a handicapped accessible taxit to take us to the airport, but he said there will be lots of taxit at the taxi ranks to pick up cruisers. We have a tight schedule to get to the airport. He owns a tourist company for people with disabilties and he is in a wheelchair himself. We are taking a guided tour of Barcelona later inthe month.

Okay, I have a question. Since this is the first cruise to Barcelona, I don't know if anyone will know the answer, but I'll ask anyhow. We have a 11:30ish flight from Barcelona and we are using DCL transfers to get us to the airport. Are we going to be cutting it close with this or will DCL make sure we are there in plenty of time. I think my dh read not to book a flight before 10am, which we didn't. Does this mean DCL will do their part to get us to the airport on time?

Nope, that is a standard document on the computer and even seperate ones for different types of trips. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I work at Artist's Palette. Right now I am off because of my knee surgery, I should be back the first week of April, but I won't get to see you after the cruise because we are going on the Med. cruise on the Carnival Freedom, and won't be back until June 8.

As far as packing, I AM going to pack next week for practice....I want to take my big suitcase, but I want to see how much it will hold and still be under 50 lb! I might just take 2 smaller ones. :laundy:

Be careful lifting don't mess up the knee.

whew - and here I thought I was being a bit rententive!! I also keep a running list in my PDA. This way when I find I don't wear something I delete it!! From what I have been reading the temps should be in the 80's - I was originally going with 4 pair of shorts - am now thinking of re-doing that down to 3. (I use travel clothes that rinse and dry in 20 minutes). Seems like we need long pants more than shorts...opinions?

I am also wondering about all my wonderful Disney T shirts - is this a "states" thing? From the travel shows and web sites - seems that sneakers and t-shirts are something we in the US wear a lot, but are not as common in Europe. I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb (yea, I know, as soon as I open my mouth I am tagged tourist).

Since I wear orthotics in my shoes the sneakers are not really an option - I have to wear a full shoe when doing a lot of walking. I use crocs mostly while at my per diem job (ED RN), but in my full time job (paramedic) I wear boots...thus the orthotics. Are there any thoughts about white sneaks? I don't own black ones since I can't wear them as a nurse.

Of course we have our packing lists done also (and a box in my closet in which things we weon't use in the meantime are being added as we come across them: sample sized laundry stuff, the kids' pins, jewlry I won't wear otehr than formal night, etc.).

My daughter and I are splitting the differnce on the weather and packing primarily capris.

When I lived in Spain (gulp--16 years ago) you rarely saw anyone in shorts or t-shirts. I don't really know how everyone dresses now. The Europeans my husband works with never seem to be that casual--even on weekend BBQs and hte like, but the exchange students we have every summer always bring both shorts and Ts. SO, I guess this post isn't goign to really be any help to you at all!:confused3

It is a mere 8 weeks until I will be winging my way to OKW at WDW...8 weeks and 2 days until we sail...

It is SO much closer than we realize!!! (for those of us who live in 2 week increments - a short 4 pay periods!!!)

It is close!!!

I'm so glad you asked this! I was going to ask and even did a google search to see what this was! :surfweb: Ha! I see why that was futile now!

You're in exactly the same boat as us (excuse the pun! ). Our flight leaves BCN airport at 11:40am and we have the DCL transfers, too. Our TA assured us that should not be a problem....so we're not too concerned.

my packing list is simple...as i buy new clothes i put them into my suitcase! :rotfl2: actually, to save on the poundage we are packing in all duffles this time...my husband gets these really nice big ones that are just piling up in our closet and we hate having the suitcases in the room (they don't fit underthe bed) but the duffles will!!! these duffles at most weigh 2 pounds so much more room for clothes!!! i feel we might look "cheap" with our duffles but we will have plenty of clothes! :goodvibes

i already have 2 of them almost full with my clothes and my daughters and the rest of my clothes from disney shopping.com have not gotten here yet! they had a good sale over the weekend and i saved over $50 with their promos....i got 4 matching outfits with shirt, shorts, pants, hoodie that are eeyore, mickey, tink and cheshire cat...i figure i can mix and match for whatever weather we have!

Disney Cruise Line Enhances a Classic

Applause, Applause!

‘Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic’

And New Sail-Away Party ‘Wow’ Guests

On Disney Magic and Disney Wonder

CELEBRATION, Fla. -- Snow falls in Walt Disney Theatre. Lasers generate sparkling pixie-dust trails. New Disney character performers take a bow. And the deck-party fun ramps up several notches. It’s part of a flurry of onboard fun that will debut this spring on both Disney Cruise Line ships.

One of the most popular, long-running shows on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, “Disney Dreams,” will display new dazzle as “Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic” with elaborately enhanced special effects, animation and new scenic elements. As a bonus, two beloved character cast members – Timon and Pumbaa of Disney’s classic film “The Lion King” – make their first-ever appearance on a Disney Cruise Line ship. The revitalized show will debut on the Disney Wonder March 21, 2007, and will be unveiled on the Disney Magic just in time for the ship’s inaugural season in the Mediterranean this May.

At the opulent Walt Disney Theatre, the enhanced “Disney Dreams . . . An Enchanted Classic,” tells the story of a young girl who learns about the power of dreams. New laser effects allow Tinkerbell to “sprinkle” the theater with sparkling pixie-dust trails, and fresh animated video footage brings the show to life like never before. During a scene from the classic film “Beauty and the Beast,” “snow” literally falls upon the audience. When Cinderella takes the stage, special pyrotechnic effects add glitter to her sartorial transformation from rags to ball gown. And Timon and Pumbaa appear for a musical medley of “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” and “Hakuna Matata” from “The Lion King.”

Additional musical numbers during the 55-minute performance include: “You Can Fly!” “A Whole New World,” “Prince Ali,” “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” “So This Is Love,” “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea” and “Beauty and the Beast.” (Featured on both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder)

“We’re committed to refreshing onboard entertainment and adding new theatrical surprises for our guests,” says Jim Urry, director of entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. “Fans of our original ‘Disney Dreams’ show will be blown away by the enhancements.”

Also beginning this summer, guests on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will find a greatly enhanced Sail-Away Party, featuring new music, interactive dances and appearances by the world-famous Disney characters on the upper decks. Taking full advantage of the Ariel Vision jumbo screens recently added to both ships, new visual elements are planned for the show and guests attending the party may find themselves dancing on the “big screen.” The party culminates with the sounding of the signature Disney Cruise Line “When You Wish Upon a Star” horn, signaling the official start of the ultimate cruise vacation.

Goodmorning all,

OK, the name of the medicine for motion sickness that I promised about 3 months ago is marezine for motion sickness (cyclizine hydrochloride - antiemetic) 50 mg.

Re: clothes: As I've posted before we are pretty casual Californian folks out here and I live in white canvas original Keds. Although I do have a new pair of black Keds. We also wear crocs and surf shoes everywhere around here. We get a lot of Europeans (from all over Europe) visiting in our area and they are never very dressed up, they look very much like us. Mostly just different brands of tennis shoes (same as sneakers) Because so much of the Southern European weather is much like ours out here, they have many of our stores there as we have several of theirs. Like anywhere you can see the difference between the very rich vs. the average folks, but they aren't any different. The other funny thing out here is that we wear Disney everywhere too. It is our pride of Orange County! When we visit Orlando we feel very much at home. Jonathan could easily wear Disney ties to work - of course we don't have regular jobs either. So, we'll be wearing Tommy Bahamaish, Disney, crocs and Keds. Since the weather will be low to mid 70's (after leaving Florida) Jonathan will wear shorts everywhere he is allowed, I go with linen, cotton khaki type (almost like scrubs), but mostly sportswear.

And yes, we have multiple packing lists and have begun the packing procedure so that we can figure out what we forgot before we leave. We started a cruise bag last year of surprise goodies for Zoe and books and important stuff to not forget - we're up to two bags - full!!! I think I have too much already.

Padalyn: I'm a big dork. I went to CA yesterday and realized I didn't have my list. Don't worry I'm going back on Friday!

Speaking of Orange County, CA: I'd like to point something out to everyone around the country... Have any of you seen the Bravo show, "The real housewives of Orange County?" I'm horrified by this show. I've lived here almost my entire life and I don't know anyone like these people. While, yes, there is a small percentage of people who look like them or act like them, I feel obligated to apologize for this show. The OC show that just ended was slightly more like some small areas of Newport Beach, but :scared1: I'm so embarrassed. We're Disney, not those people.

Hey Gydell should be back soon.

The name of the medication is actually Meclizine sold over the counter as Bonine. It is a strong antihystamine - so be ready to sleep!! I find the wrist bands (not the stretchy kind but the velcro ones) work for my airsickness. They are available online at this web link:

"It is a strong antihystamine - so be ready to sleep"

This is a very good point - what works for one person doesn't work for another. My sister goes right to sleep with most drugs, Jonathan didn't feel any sleepiness with this one at all. He did everything like normal, but that doesn't mean it will be a miracle drug for others. But he tried the stretch wrist bands and they didn't work for him at all, but the electronic one did work :confused3 :confused3 I'm so grateful that I don't get motion sickness! Has anyone tried the patches, we heard those make people sleepy, but I'm wondering if that is true for everyone? Cayla, have you tried those? Also, I put my list in my Disney bag - I'll be on a mission to find those pins!!!!!!

Okay, now I'm worried! I have terrible motion sickness. Can't read more than a sentence in a car without feeling queasy. I was planning on getting the scopalamine patch before I go and I will also get some meclizine, but am I going to have to rely on these the whole cruise? Will I get used to it? I was hoping after a couple of days it wouldn't be an issue. I can't stand the thought of going for TWO WEEKS feeling like :crazy2: . This would be great for my weight issues, however! pooh: :rotfl:

I don't think the scopalamine patch makes you sleepy, btw, but I may be wrong. I do know it will make your mouth very dry, however. :drinking: (okay, I need to back off the smilies a bit...but they are so fun! :goodvibes) :rolleyes1

Anyway, seriously, how bad is the seasickness on these cruises??

Hey Kelly,

Yes I watch the real housewives on and off....it's kinda like a train wreck...you know you shouldn't be just standing there looking at it and yet you can't look away!:rotfl2: I don't think you need to apologize since I'm not sure anyone thinks those women are a realistic representation of anyone! :lmao: ....just another example of the delusion that money and privilege is in some way the equivalent to talent or fame! The show clearly has some serious issues around class and race and gender! ;)

Hello all! I've been out of touch for a few days and just catching up. I see that some of you are from Indiana. I graduated High School in Delphi and went to Indiana State in Terre Haute. :cool2:

It was 85 degrees here in Virginia today and I have serious spring fever! Anyone like to Golf? :sunny:

I got "carded" at a liquor store in Delphi, IN buying two six packs of malt duck. That was some time after I spent a week in Terra Haute for Boys State. Good to have more Hoosier connections on the cruise.

My DW is from VA (Northern, near D.C.). She loves to talk to other people from Virginia.

We have multiple packing lists going - clothes, room supplies, Disney supplies (sail-away, theme nights), box(es) we may send on ahead to the ship. Remember to put packing tape in your boxes that you ship to the port as you can retape them in BCN and use them as pieces of checked luggage for the trip back (just don't run over your size/wgt restrictions).

I don't know I think it varies. I get motion sickness, too, sometimes. LIke I can't ride more than two thrill rides in the same hour really without wanting to heave  . I get sick in cars, sometimes, too (although rarely on planes) and I went on cruise on a much small boat when I was in college and I was sick as a dog. I have to say, however, that on the DCL boats Ive never felt a thing...at least not illness-wise....I can sometimes feel the boat moving but I never get queasy. On every cruise I've gone on I see folks with the armbands and the little dots behind their ears and wearing lots of copper jewelry and all the other remedies that people use....and they all still seem to be having a lovely time....so I do think most people acclamate and are able to enjoy themselves despite a tendency towards motion sickness.

I am the queen of motion sickness, but for some reason I have done pretty darn well on DCL. Don't know if it is the stabilizers or just because I have cruised so much.

Bonine does not make me sleepy if I take only 1/2 of the pill.
I have done the patches, however, they make me very thirsty. I always have to be chewing gum or drinking water or my mouth is really dry.

I find that the water bothers me most the first night right after sailaway when we are headed down the coast, so I take 1/2 bonine while eating lunch on the ship after we board and that seems to do the trick. Haven't been sick at all.

That's where we are heading after the cruise.

Hi mom_rules

Limburg is round 100 kilometers (65 miles) south of Marburg and it is the same distance to Franfurt Airport. Driving time from airport to Marburg 1,5-2 hours.

Marburg and Limburg are on the same smal river, the Lahn.

It's getting dark now here on the other side of the ocean.

so have a nice evening

This morning we order new ones! They will hopefully be here in two weeks. This way if the passport don't get here on time we can drive in San Fransico and get them done at the last minute.

Got to love the Government, they put in the new rule so that everybody has to get passports but they don't ramp up their passport centers to be able to handle the increased demand that they will get. I hop eyou guys get them in time, not sure how that will affect you getting into Europe. I would be really worried if I were you guys.

At least here in Canada they anticipated the increase in demand and planned accordingly. Yes there is a little longer wait but it is no where near the 3-4 month wait you guys are experiencing.

Cheers!!

also, is anyone worried they will not get their passport on time???

Me! I applied on January 22nd, and according to the web, I should get it by April 2nd. When I applied, I was told it was definitely six weeks, but that's clearly incorrect since it's now ten weeks. I figure if things start looking sticky, I will just have to pay up and deal with it. Thankfully, I may be one of the closest people to a regional passport center -- it is across the street from where I work! Plus, there's still a good amount of time. But I would prefer to just get it in the mail and have everything be OK.

When did you apply for yours, and when do they say you will get it?

I would feel better about this if the promises as to when it will arrive were reliable, but having moved it once, who's to say they won't do it again?!

I tried the patch - also an antihystamine - made me blind! Literally!!! My eyes dilated up so far that I couldn't see past about one foot. Scopolomine is powerful stuff. As you said - what works for one doesn't work for another!. The stretch wrist bands don't apply enough pressure on the pressure point to do any good. That is why I use the velcro ones. Be sure to get the pressure point between the 2 tendons on the wrist, it should be tight - you shouldn't be able to get a finger under the band if it is put on right. I often have a small bruise, but that is worth it in my mind.

I am the wierd one - I don't get seasick (once in my life, and that was after too many roller coasters the day before!) I do get wicked airsick...I HATE flying!!

I did use the wrist bands once on the Wonder - we came out of Canaveral into 20' seas - cap't almost decided not to leave due to the nasty weather. We did make it through it, but more than 50% of the ship was ill (that included the crew). My hunny was violently ill. Everyone was banned from the decks, the sailaway party was cancelled. It was very interesting...I had a fine time...but I am lucky that way.

For those who are worried -even in those really rough seas - the ship never "tilted" or leaned more than I would guess 10%. It was more a front back roll than side to side. Most of the time the cap't was going into the waves to cut the roll down. I was up as high as I could get to watch the front - and saw waves crashing over the bow. (quite a sight lemme tell you!!) The gym was the place to be as far as I was concerned...best view!!

Hunny thought I was nuts and retired to the cabin to sleep after I drugged her into oblivion with meclizine and tigan.

Everything was fine in the morning - except for all the cleanup the stewards had to do.

Hey, what are the electronic seasickness thingys someone mentioned? (it was in a discussion of sea bands).

Stacy, I have dutifully brought an assortment of over the counter remedies with me and never have used them. I am usually pretty good about motion sickness except on small boats. The large boats don't have that icky tippy feeling that seems to get me. :crazy2: (could not resist adding the smilie you used, I haven't notice that one before and it seems all too apt). This is true even though the last time we were on DCL (7 night Western), we had an island canceled due to a bad storm. You could feel it, but it seemed that the size of the ship kind of smoothed everything out.

So hopefully you will be OK! Note that since I am totally paranoid, I will still have stuff with me. :rolleyes1 I hope if I need something, Sea Bands work, bc the OTC meds put me out like a light.

Sorry - cupcake the sea band brand isn't tight enough to work...look for the velcro ones.
This is the type - I have a couple of sets since I have a small boat and keep them on board for folks who don't like the rock and roll effect

For all you motion sick types out there (NOT me, I am so lucky, but very much David):
David finds that giner pills (and to some extent even giner-ale) do the trick for him. He usaully takes them only if he starts to feel sick, but since this is a longer cruise and the very open water could be rougher he is going to start them 2 weeks before the trip to let it build up in his system (per the recomendations of several people we have spoken to). There are a few threads on this board which discuss this very topic. It seemed to me that more people found ginger to work than anythign else, and it is pretty safe :) Mythbusters even did an episode in seasickness once and found that ginger seemed to work for more people than anything else (even the meds)..

Hi guys, Yes, Jonathan also uses the Ginger and loves it the best because there are no side effects. He said thanks, Cayla. He's going to get the velcro ones you recommended. He reminded me to you all of you that the electronic wrist band was expensive and the goo that you have to put on under the band gave him a rash. On the first Mexico cruise last year we had a terribly rough night, where way over half the boat was ill. That was when I realized that Zoe didn't get her dad's side of the motion sickness - man was I happy, she didn't get my dyslexia, so if she doesn't get alcoholism and varicous I'll be thrilled. :lmao: :lmao: I must say though the service was fantastic in the dining room:thumbsup2 My husband's entire side of the family gets motion sickness and his dad was a sub capt for 30 years, sister a flight attendant. :scared1:

Well.... the earth is still, the winds are calm, rivers are receding, snow stopped falling......I think I can actually do a catch up post tonight!:rotfl: :rotfl2: :surfweb:

JW2736- I did get on the same flight as you :) We can do early boarding together.

I am leaning towards hiring a car service for the airport to DLP. The only reason is because we are flying into Orly and the bus does not run as frequently. And we have such a short time there, we can get going right away.

Motion Sickness- The worst night is the first one. Mom uses ginger chews and drinks ginger ale and that helps. I have used the elastic sea bands. And they are plenty tight... I guess I have fat wrists :rotfl: :rolleyes1

Good luck all with the passports. I would be freaking out by now! We have ours from our first DCL cruise in 1998. As soon as I get back I need to renew mine as it will be within 6 months till it expires. Ya never know when you may need it!

Ok... that is long enough. I did do an update to the page. Have a couple of things to add but it is caught up. If you find an error, please let me know!

I am also wondering about all my wonderful Disney T shirts - is this a "states" thing? From the travel shows and web sites - seems that sneakers and t-shirts are something we in the US wear a lot, but are not as common in Europe. I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb (yea, I know, as soon as I open my mouth I am tagged tourist).
.

I think Europeans will be less casual than the American tourists, although the young people will be wearing a lot of jeans. I think for an American tourist, white sneakers would be fine. Or comfortable sandals or regular shoes.

Our problem is that my husband ONLY wants to wear shorts. I think shorts for men are fine on the ship, but not too many European men wear them in town. But my husband will be wearing his shorts, his white socks and white sneakers. He doesn't plan to go in to any of the churches anyway. Men and women are requested to dress conservatively in them. I think shorts and t shirts would be fine for the Canary Islands and Gibraltar, they are more "touristy" there.

WE are taking Disney Tshirts to wear on the ship, but probably not onshore. I will probably wear either a skirt or long pants onshore. Capri's if it's hot. I have noticed European women wear a lot more skirts and dresses than we do. Connie

HI All! Still a chatty bunch I see...lots of topics to cover this time.

:boat: Welcome Aboard to the new folks!!:boat:

Seems like Kathy's got it all going on up near her in North Ohio...we're pretty calm down near Cincinnati. Heard there was a small twister up there yesterday - after the earthquake and other issues, best be on the look out for a :shamrock: ....hope you're doing OK after all that excitement.

Erik - the ties sound great! I have probably 40+ disney ties from the years that I had to wear them at work - figured I might as well like them if I had to wear them....don't really have many villains ones though...and we don't dress up onboard unless we 'have' to - but looking forward to seeing all the cool one's you've been collecting!!:maleficen

Passports - Mike's was within the 6 month window - sent his off and got it in 6 weeks - just got it back last Friday. Hopefully they're quoting longer times to set expectations and it won't really take that long.:confused3 I hope you all get them very quickly!!

Seasick Remedies - Mike is the one that gets queasy..:crazy2: Found out about 10 years ago when we were in Hawaii and driving the road to Hana...had to stop so many times to let him 'recover' that it was completly dark when we got there and couldn't find the house we rented - had to go to the Hana police station to get directions::cop: ...Since then he too has tried the Ginger Pills - used them on the Med Cruise last year...the Med's very calm - but on the hyrdofoil to Capri it was BAD. He took his Ginger and did OK. He also uses some kind of drops behind his ears too. Used to do Dramamine (less-drowsy) but described himself as a 'zombie' on that- wasn't ill, but just didn't wanna do anything. So we'll stock up on the Ginger and hope for the best - I'll have the dramamine just in case. :rolleyes1

Don't want to be too long - good to hear from everyone - 4 pay periods to go!! Yay!!!:cheer2:

Here's another motion sick trick David has reminded me of. He (and his sister) has found that it really helps to face forward to the motion of the ship at meals. If he sits "sideways" or "backwards" he starts to feel queasy. It takes a moment when we get into the dining rooms the first nights to oreint ourselves at the table, but it really does seem to help and it is easy enough to do. The rest of us just sit around his needs.

This article about passports confirms it is taking 10 weeks:

Passport Requests (http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/03/15/ap3521908.html)

Overwhelmed by unprecedented demand, the State Department is warning would-be travelers to brace for lengthy delays in getting U.S. passports, even when they pay a hefty fee to speed their applications.

The department has hired hundreds of employees to process passport requests over the past two years as tougher immigration rules have taken effect. Even so, the department says a crush of new applicants - more than 1 million a month - has inundated its staff and caused delays of up to a month-and-a-half at the peak January-to-April season when many people are preparing to travel over the spring and summer.

In addition, a regulation that took effect this year requiring Americans to have passports when traveling by air to any country, including Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean "has increased passport demand and production to record levels," the department said in a statement this week.

Applications received between October and this March have risen 44 percent over the same period in 2005-2006, the department said in a notice sent Thursday to lawmakers. Some members of Congress have received complaints from constituents about delays.

According to the notice, routine passport processing could take 10 weeks instead of the previous six, and expedited processing could take four weeks instead of two weeks.

About 12 million passport applications were processed in 2006 and as many as 17 million are expected this year, the department said.

For adults getting their first passport, the routine processing fee is $97 with an additional $60 charge for expedited service. Passport renewals for adults cost $67, with the same expedited fee.

The department said by the end of 2008 it plans to have hired 400 passport adjudicators since 2004.

The agency's 16 production facilities are also working overtime, including 24 hours-a-day in three shifts at the National Passport Center in New Hampshire. A new center capable of making as many as 10 million passports a year is to open in Arkansas in April, it said.

Some 74 million Americans have valid U.S. passports.

You would have thought they would have hired the extra folks earlier :confused3

I just applied Monday for my son's passport....I didn't even think about it until reading about it on here. Why? I have no idea. Probably since my DH and I have already had our passports for awhile....never thought our DS4 might need one! DOH! :headache: It didn't help that we decided to go on this cruise so last minute either....
I had to pay $60 extra to have it expedited...they said it should be here mid April, but after reading some things on here, I am a little nervous. At least 5 weeks is better than 10 weeks.

If anyone has any questions about Disneyland Paris, feel free to ask. I really studied up on it before we went. We went to the Wild West show too. I am so jealous, I would love to be able to go again.... I will just have to live through all of your experiences! :)

We paid to have them expedited...and I guess they did! We did have the most AWESOME postal service worker helping us and she said we needed to bring her chocolate chip cookies. Well...we applied for our passports on March 2nd, and we got them in the mail two days ago

That is good news. We had an appointment for next week for our DD but we are on spring break this week and thought it would be worth seeing if the main Post Office would let us wait for a possible opening instead of her missing a day of school.

I asked the agent just before he went on lunch break and he said it was unlikely but if we understood there was no guarantee he would try to fit us in.

Normally they are strictly by appointment only and when we came back after his break we watched as three groups without appointments harangued him one after the other, demanding to see supervisors and they could not get through on the appointment line etc etc... No wonder these poor guys go postal...

But we quietly waited in our corner and his second appointment came not knowing their daughter had to be present. Their appointment was very short and while the other, no appointment, groups were still yelling at his supervisor he winked at us to come over. I think helping us after we were very nice to him was how got his revenge on the nasties...

If they had come in with our attitude instead of demanding this and that, he might have been able to do the same for them.

Sometimes the carrot really is better than the stick.

OK, the name of the medicine for motion sickness that I promised about 3 months ago is marezine for motion sickness (cyclizine hydrochloride - antiemetic) 50 mg.

I'm a pharmacist and have been asked often about motion sickness treatments.
Marezine isn't available here anymore.
Meclizine(25mg) is the drug most often used (it's handed out at Guest Services on the ship in bad weather). I'm usually very sensitive to medication and, although this is an antihistamine, I haven't had any drowsiness problems the few times I've needed to take it. It is Bonine(chewable), Less Drowsy Dramamine or store brands over the counter. As a prescription, it is available as Antivert 12.5mg and 25mg( generic is meclizine). Depending on your prescription drug plan co-pay, sometimes an Rx is less expensive than the OTC (although at Target where I work, 32 store brand OTC are only $3.29). I'll have my Rx with me (no- co-pay for the generic) just in case. I've only taken it twice in rough seas.
The Transderm Scop (scopolomine) patches are effective for some but can cause the dry mouth. They do require a prescription.
I have had some feedback on the Sea Bands. They do work for some (whether just psychological or actual I can't say).
I have recommended ginger over the years. It does have proven anti-nausea properties.
There's a lot of choices. I'm hoping for calm seas so we won't need to use any of them;)

Anyone have someone in their party that is nervous about crossing the ocean? Nervous no, excited oh yea!!!

I think it will be really cool to be out in the middle of the Atlantic where there are no other lights and see the stars. I just hope that there is an area on the boat that you can sit and just gaze up at the stars at night without too many lights on. Not sure if that is possible but it woudl be cool.

You think your gas is expensive, try $3.33 a gallon roughly. That is about what I am paying now.

They are calling for the last blast of winter to hit us tonight, 10-15 cm of snow, about 5-8 inches somewhere around there. Oh yea.

I agree with Pat about the stars, we used to live in the Midwest far far far away from any city lights, but now we are in Orlando, only 15 miles from the airport and 20 miles south of downtown, so between the lights and the humidity, we just don't get those clear clear nights. If anyone has trouble finding a DARK place to see the stars, please come to our stateroom. We are at the back of the boat, and we can turn off our balcony lights, and it should be very dark!

Nervous no, excited oh yea!!!

I think it will be really cool to be out in the middle of the Atlantic where there are no other lights and see the stars.

Bring your binoculars

I wonder how many other ships you pass and can see on a trans Atlantic cruise. I remember on the seven day eastern that we were shadowed by another ship on several nights.

Maybe ships intentionally sail in groups when they can...

You think your gas is expensive, try $3.33 a gallon roughly. That is about what I am paying now.

They are calling for the last blast of winter to hit us tonight, 10-15 cm of snow, about 5-8 inches somewhere around there. Oh yea.

Need to get the packing list started.......

"The pool is for exercise".....like swimming laps? Funny, Kelly, in your pics you don't LOOK like an elf or a gnome...but if you can swim laps in the pool on the ship and get "exercise" you must be tiny!:rotfl: I, on the other hand, at 6 feet feel like the pools, as lovely and relaxing as they are, are like large bathtubs! :rotfl2: I think I can literally push off one end of the pool with my legs and coast almost the entire lenth without having to paddle or kick!:lmao:

OK OK OK, here is the way swimming in the pool is actually a rather long swim.

The ship is sailing at say 15 knts, so as you swim towards the bow you are really swimming fast and covering a lot of water, now as you swim toward the stern you loose ground (water distance) as the ship is moving forward, your next length takes you to the bow end of the pool, where you have made up the distance you lost, so you are really covering a lot of water. Really.....

OK Scott, that was the mathematical way to swim, unfortunately, Eric, I am less gnome, more pixy. If I stand up straight I'm almost 5'1 :tinker: and with my love of food:mickeybar , I must get in the water and do 500 kicks per day, plus walk (listening to a book) and gym (watching CNN and listening to a book) - Yes, very ADHD and a great multi-tasker. You can do it 2 ways, one type in the following: "" without the " past in the full address from the web site and then type in "" again without the " at the end of the address. That will link to the web page.

The othe rway is to hint the icon that looks like a globe with a chain link on the front then past your web address in there

Actually I know a lot of folks from Delphi. Good friend of mine went to Carrol HS and his wife is from Delphi.

I even remember (pistol) Pete Manahan (sp?) was an Oracle. Early 70's I think.
Pro wrestler Dick the Bruiser was an Oracle. I'm sure there are others, but that's the best I can do right now.

Will be good to me you guys.

Bob, wasn't it Pistol Pete Maravitch???(SP) undergrad in Indiana, brings that to mind. :goodvibes

My bad!:sad2:
The kid's name was Pat Manahan. He was an Indiana High School All Star in 1973. Folks around here nicknamed him "pistol" after Pete Maravich who was born in Pennsylvania, grew-up in South Carolina and attended LSU until 1970.

The stars are amazing out in the middle of the ocean. We had an unofficial stargazing one night (which I never found you guys as it was SOOOOO windy) but the next night DCL decided to do one too. They had a few of the ships officers on the basketball court pointing out the stars. It was really cool actually and the officers were more than happy to talk to the guests!

We have been looking forward to star gazing as well. That is absolutely one of our favourite hobbies. We are lucky to live in a rural area without much light. SO we do a lot of sky wathching from the hot tub in the evenings. The windy ship soudns quite a bit cooler, but the views should be worht it! Does anyone know about what latitude we'll be crossing at? The Mayans are pretty--I bet you had a great time.

My dad lives in Nuevo on Calle Tulipanes (right next to the govenor's mansion--talk about feeling safe there is always a ton of security!) and my mom lives in Bucerias (a bit north of Nuevo). We try to get down every year. It is tough because they are both realtors so of course they are working their longest hours during the time of year when we would most like to visit:confused3 So we try to get down after fall has finished up here but before high season has really kicked in down there. The kids and I spent the last week in October and the first in November with them. We also like to take Mexican Riviera cruises and get the PV day with them:goodvibes

The Planetarium is a Kewl idea. Our Lat and Long at mid point should be about N 33 58.217 and W 042 02.268, give or take a little. (Debbie quit laughing) That is what I haev in my GPS for an aprox mid way point.

Here is a pretty good like to print out a sky chart http://www.fourmilab.ch/yoursky/#Skymap

WOW that is early prep fro the vacation, going west to east is easy for me , it is the east to west that messes me up.

I may drive to WY to get gas! Yes, we end up getting up at 10 or 11 am WDW time and miss the whole thing! Coming back is easier for us because we're home and don't have any commitments (except taking our houseguests to DL)

For the 7 day I think it is about $75, I don't remember. It wouldn't surprise me if they just kept it that price to encourage more people to buy it, but perhaps people from the last repo would have more accurate info.

As for Poseidon on HBO this month, I know we just happened to catch it last week, and a couple other folks on here too! We focused less on the disaster and more on the "Well on the Magic would we know where to go at this point!!"

No, not at all nervous to cross the Atlantic. Just very VERY excited that it's coming closer every day. The other night I had a dream that it was May 11 and I realized I had missed the entire two months lead up and hadn't gotten ANYthing done!

I moved down here to Williamsburg in June. I'm really enjoying the weather here a lot better than where I previously lived (upstate NY).

Karen, My kids are enrolled in a program at William & Mary so I'm in Williamsburg every Saturday morning. I'm actually not driving today as we're carpooling with a friend. Next Saturday (24 March) is their last day. I usually go to Aromas for coffee after dropping them off. Send me a pm if you'd like to meet. I'll probably take the kids to Busch Gardens that afternoon if the weather cooperates.

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in. It's been a while. Forgive me. It's crunch time for us! We have to be fully packed for this trip by 6 April! We'll be in California househunting in April and as soon as we get back our movers arrive to pack up the house so we must have everything packed and ready to go ahead of time. We close on the sale of our VA house in late April. We'll stay with friends for 2 weeks before leaving for Florida on 11 May. We will actually be homeless during this trip as we won't close on a place in CA until after we arrive in San Diego on 6 June. We will never be more ready for a vacation!

Okay, no one here has any fear of sailing across the Atlantic. Having not seen Poseiden we are not sure what everyone is worried about. Sinking? Being too far from a hospital? Pray tell what s the big deal? We must be really dense, we can't see how this is much different than a regular cruise.

Drssing like a tourist is a different matter. I guess I can see the worry, but much like Erik I feel it is pretty obvious no matter what (certainly once you start speaking). Also, pickpockest will take from locals also (at least they did when I lived there and our frends in Paris tell us they still do there). We always leave valuables in the ship and travel only with the cash we'll need plus a credit card.

David keeps these in his fron pocket and has developed a long standing habit of keeping his hand in said pocket. We've never had a problem yet (knock on wood).

In the movie Poseiden a giant "rogue wave" blindsides a huge cruiseliner and literally flips it over upside down causing a huge tragedy....so it just evokes an irrational disaster fear in anyone considering a cruise out in the middle of the ocean. You're right that it isn't that much different than any otehr cruise....other than I think the fact that crossing the Atlantic means there are stretches of the trip where you are farther away from any land mass than on just about any other cruise...so it plays into people's fears...kind of like how you'd swim in 15 foot water in a diving pool but it's a considerably more daunting idea to swim in 15 foot water in the center of a lake that's 5 miles across......

it's all a discussion for naught though because the trip is going to be safe and fabulous and fun and amazing....and that's the final word!! :cool1: hehehe:banana:

I agree, thnigs will be fine! I always get freaked out by movies, even if they don't have a chance in heck happening. (Like Night of the Living Dead, for example....I always wonder, what if??? and then get freaked out. :lmao: )

I have a question for Floridians....If I fly into to the Tampa airport (flight times, connection and price are much better than MCO at this point) on Friday, and the arrival time is 4:10pm, will the traffic be bad if I drive there straight to the port that evening???

Is there rush hour traffic on that route? I guess by the time we got our bags and rental car, we would be heading out of Tampa at about 5:00pm. That would put us going into Orlando at about 6:00 or so? Maybe if we ate dinner in Tampa first, so that we headed out at 6 instead of 5?

That SO sounds like the dreams I have leading up to an exciting trip. :scared:

OK, I won't even mention The Excorcist!":scared1:

"I, for one, am going to proudly embrace my touristiness (is that a word?...it is now!)....I actually AM a tourist...and I'm going to live out and proud about it!!"

Of course, its a word! Coming from touristville... we always look like Californians wherever we go and it strikes up many conversations with people who want to know about CA. As long as I'm not going to a dinner party with any locals in our ports, I'm not worried."

For the record, Jason and I stick out in NYC our South Beach, too, because we don't dress to those standards either....I don't have money for nice clothes....I spend it all on expensive vacations!!!

I am so with you here!!!!

The original Poseidon came out when I was a kid, and it was terrifying!! But someone had a good point about learning what to do if the boat capsizes. That's where deck 2 folks are in luck.

Eric, did you rent the Incredibles for this snowy weekend? I have a funny little surprise for you and Jason on the boat, so I want you to know the characters. Plus, you didn't know Edna Mode and I think you'll love her! See my new picture tag?

UGh, yesh, rush hour traffic heading into Orlando on a Friday night is horrible. I would definately grab a bite to eat first, relax a bit and then head out.

We've seen the incredibles...I just didn't know the character(s) by name. But we're familiar with the story and what each of their powers are and everything....do we need to be more familiar than that?

(And no we didn't rent anything....I'm morally opposed to leaving the house when it snows....it's my own form of protest against Mother Nature!:rotfl: )

I think from people's responses, we will just come into MCO later on Friday instead, stay at the airport Hyatt and then head down to the port Saturday morning....it was traffic free when we did that last time in November. Thanks everyone!

I your planetarium prints out a chart that would be Kewl. If so could I get a copy?

All you folks in NE, sorry about your turn in the weather, stay safe and warm.

Happy St. Patty's day!!!

For all you locals who love Off Kilter, they are gonna be in my neighborhood (literally) tonight. from 5-9pm. Come join us!!!

  I wish I could have been there   I went to the St Patricks Day parade here in Cleveland. Great pipe bands... but just not the same.

OK, I am back again with more questions...LOL
Since I joined this cruise so late, I never received a planning packet or anything like that so I feel pretty lost. I have went and read alot of the previous pages, but am still a little overwhelmed.
Does anyone happen to know when Pirate night is? I saw when the formal and semi formal nights were, but did not catch Pirate night.

Also, does anyone have any idea from the other Repo cruise in 2005 if they are adding additional shows? The 3 main ones just don't seem enough for 14 nights....or do they fill them in with other things? Do they have additional entertainers for the family and adult cabaret shows for all those nights? Do they have extra activities planned for the extra sea days? Any other info in the planning packet that I am missing out on? Thanks for any input!

Okay cathching up with all moy posts here:

Mickeysquared--WELCOME!!!

Scott--Thanks for the lat. and long. info. We will go begging at the PLanetarium this week (and every week until we hit one without many (maybe any) other people there and a worker who is willing (it has happened before I hope it happens agian). If they can print me any star charts I will bring copies for all.:)

Erik--Thanks for demystifying the crossing the Atlantic fear for me. The pool/lake anology was a good one. We are still all just EXCITED but at least now I know what is worrying others.

Scoobypop--It was nice to see another post from you this wekend. I hadn't seen anything in a while and was wondering if you had decided not to join us (maube I just missed a few--quite possible). We are still so happy you thought to ask Keyon if he was planning on being on this trip. I hope his plans haven't changed.

Michelle2--I had hoped to have many questions answered when the welcome packet came. Ours arrived a few weeks ago and you are not mising much! It is fun to have somehting you can hold in your hands but contains almost no real info. I don't belive anyone has tracekd down WHEN pirate night is yet (just happy to know there is one at this point). I wasn't on the previous repos, but I did read the navigators online--it seems like they made sure they filled the days. It is my undertsanding they were a bit ill prepared at first on the WB but got their act together quickly and were well prepared by the EB.

www.*****************

The above website has all the navigators for the EB repo as well as some from the special 10 and 11 night cruises to give you an idea of what will be offered.

DH has to work in Clearwater a fewt times a month. If he doesn't finish by 2pm, he waits until after dinner to leave. The drive from Tampa into Orlando stinks.. especially with the construction that never seems to end..

I'm sticking with my theory that Pirate Night, while not yet officially announced, will be either very early in the trip...maybe even Castaway Cay night (since it's a "Pirates in the Caribbean" party....and that night we'll actually be IN the Caribbean PLUS isn't the ship from the movie still parked in the harbor at Castaway Cay....seems like there might be a logical connection for that night).....OR that it will be late in the trip to coincide with the release of the 3rd film which we will hopefully get to preview aboard the ship.

I'm also still stalking my T.A. for updates constantly to see if she ever hears! :)

DCL just told me that Pirate night was set for May 18th. It took the CM some time to find it but she said that is when it is set for. She reconfirmed formal night is May 14th with Captains on the 19th and semi-formal on the 24th. Hope she knows what she is talking about!
