Gotta agree with Erik and Laura here. Puck is NOT a faun. He is a sprite/fairy. I love Mr. Tumnus (another great series of books there--at last both my kids like those. The yare so special to me that my HS graduation present was a nice leather bound set), but it just isn't who Puck is.

Show the botched production on the Dumbotron? Might be a bit too racy with all that whitie tighty flashing going on:rotfl2: But I gotta say, I am longing to see this (kinda like seeing Act 3 of Noises Off).

:flower3: Hadley - Noises Off is my favorite show of all time... I have the dvd with Christoper Reeve, John Ritter, Nicolette Sheridan, Carol Burnet, et al....I laugh so hard whenever I watch it - which is several times a year. When I need a really good laugh I put that in the dvd player...and all is right with the world popcorn:: . This production that Laura is decribing does sound very like the 3rd act...:lmao:

HKSilverfox - Disney Quest is next to Cirque by Pleasure Island. It is 5 stories of video games, virtual reality games and a whole bunch of fun. You pay one price to get in and you can play all day. There is a Pirate virtual reality ride which is KEWL! and tons of other fun things. They also have a ride where you fight space aliens not to mention the Cheesecake Factory with killer chili cheese fries. I forget how much it cost to get in, but I think it is $27 (might have gone up though).

Just stopping by to say "HI". I don't get here very much unfortunately.

So happy to see other Buffett fans. Bubble bubble bubble. We'll be at the concert here in Pittsburgh.

How about my father-in-law still doesn't have his passport. He's leaving tomorrow for LA and won't be back until the day before the cruise. So he is in the process of scheduling a time with the LA Passport office.

DVC Member Cruise 2005 that's it... and prob around OKW, that is our favorite for our long trips.

Well, We can't wait to meet you again! This is going to be a wonderful Cruise!

Has anybody found out who is REALLY in the WALT or ROY suites? :disrocks:

I see a few of our group got 1 bedrooms on the 8th deck.....We had one on the 2006 DVC members cruise.....all I can say is......It blew us away!
Now we know how the other half lives.

I have another question.....t:offtopic: otally off topic: Should I FAX a request to inventory control or phone them or write them asking to be put on the new ships in their concierge 1 bedroom handicapped accessible stateroom, no matter when it is, or where it goes?

Thanx! !:thanks:

Here is another tip, travel socks for those long flights, some call them compression socks, found them at Walmart before our last trip and they were as good as my expensive pair.

You can buy them at Walgreen's too. I wear them for work.

Also: DON'T FORGET THE TIDE-TO-GO! I have one in my purse, Pat's backpack, extras in my luggage. They are a llifesaver for us messy people, and just think kof all that spaghetti sauce I am going to slop! :laundy:

Couldn't be the job, a move, 50-60 hours a week. Not to mention my fear of needles, knowing there is a blood draw, and the older guy exam, tooK off a noon today, actually the whole office bugged out early.

Had lunch with Lynn bought new crocs for this trip, did a dog walk, payed bills..... need a Jimmy Concert tomorrow.

Watching House. I like “House” , sometimes I get the diagnosis before the end of the show. Called the decompression sickness on the plane.

Crimes shows are another story.

Have fun tomorow, we will be busy packing for a few trips... maybe a trip to Wally World looking for light weight wind pants...

OOOH we LOVE DisneyQuest! It's such great late-night fun for those of us who want to stay up and do something exciting but aren't that into Pleasure Island! Jason and I will definitely be there several times. IN addition to paying admission...if you have the Park Hopper passes with the "Water & more fun" options (or wahtever it's called) then DisneyQuest can be one of those options (or at least it used to be). And we have premium Annual Passes so we get DisneyQuest entrance included in that, too. This past September when we were staying at Saratoga and Jason had to be in his conference during the day....if I didn't go to a park I would go over and go into Disneyquest just to eat lunch because they have great food at the snackbars and YUMMY desserts!

Nicholos--Glad to see you are a Noises Off fan. I was props mistress for that in high school (man that show has some weird props:laughing:) About a year later the movie came out and of course all us high school theatre kids had to go in mass. What a riot:rotfl: I thought they did a great job with the film. There is a local production happening near here tomrrow. We are very much hoping Marika's belt test ends early enough for us to drop the kids and go. I haven't seen it live in about 5 years.

Erik-- Rio says if we can still do Robin Hood for Halloween this year, we can do Midsummer next and he'll be Puck:banana: And that would be the kind of Puck I have always imagined: Very fairy like with two tone green tights and green satin sleevles tunic and vines painted on his arms and leaves here and there "stuck" the the fabric and a crown of greenery. He's already done Peter Pan (and worn Peter costume all ove WDW may times) and is planning on being Robin Hood so I am thinking this is not much of a diffrence for him! If I were ever to direct Midusummer I would have to cast a gymnast as Puck because I always imagine him as so playful and energetic that his entrances and exits are punctauted by handsprings, cartwheels ,etc. Erik, have you ever played it that way? I've never seen a production liek htat, but I cannot be the only person who envisions it as such. NOT a goat boy-Bleh Oh, and yes my kids ALWAYS plan their Halloween costumes this far in advance (and they will stick with the idea). They do the same thing with birthdays. I can't imagine where they get the obscessive planning gene from:rolleyes1

Lori--How sweet of you to say you can't wait to meet Marika. She an be a bit much at times (just like Hermione) but I love her anyway. Okay, maybe I love her beucase of it  The Hermione thing--I can't imagine where she gets THAT from either:rolleyes1

Bob and Sott--If I am not at Noises Off I will be listening to the concert.

Connie--I think Tide to Go is one of the best inventions of the past decade. Like you I have sticks every where. :laundy: It ahs saved so many outfits.

Inventory control are taking NO requests. They actually sent everyone who faxed requests a letter with their original fax stating that no requests will be made prior to the announcment of the sailings. This was for the suites, too.
It doesn't hurt to fax them, but it seems like they are truly not taking requests.

Hadley...I have ONLY played Puck that way, really. In my favorite production of Midsummer I did when i was a senior in High School (AAAGES ago! :lmao: ) and we distilled entire show into a one act play that was just over an hour long and used it as a competition piece (there used to be one act play competitions in Maine where I graduated from High School...do they still do things like that?). Our set had swings, a "high bar" and a mini trampoline in it so that we could bounce all over the place and hang on bars and things. Actually I'm often reminded of that show whenever we watch the monkey sequence in Festival of the Lion King at the Animal Kingdom (except we were a little less crazy...but a similar idea).

I work at the Artist's Palette at Saratoga Springs. That is the counter service restaruant and grocery and gift shop. There's also the Turf Club, that's our sit-down restaurant. There aren't any others right there, but there's a boat that goes over to Downtown Disney and of course there's lots of places to eat over there! Also, you can get groceries delivered to your room either by ordering them online from Artist's Palette for a $5 fee. I have heard Wegoshop.com and gardengrocer.com recommended by DIS board users. In truth....we didn't love the food choices there. I loved the pool area and the grounds are beautiful....and it's a healthy, but nice, walk to downtown Disney. Overall...we really like it and are glad we own there....it's all new and kept up very well adn we like being near Downtown Disney. My only 3 complaints about it would be: 1.) The food isn't great, 2.) it's very spread out...unlike Beach Club, for example, and 3.) the buses are SLOW there......I would probably not rely on buses from the parks back to Saratoga if you're in a hurry.

 Actia;;u. Erik, I agree with you about the food. Although I will admit to LOVING the Saratoga salad, I could live on it. I have only eaten at Turf Club once. And I always bring my own food from home when I work, why spend allmy earnings on food?

I will say the kitchen seems to do a great job on their steaks, the chefs take a lot of pride in them.

Yes, I would love to say hi to anybody who is at Saratoga. Although I have been working at the General Store at Old Key West now, too. But I only work 2 days a week! Just enough to get part timer perks!

Thanks for the Saratoga info. Erik, thanks for letting us know about the buses because we HATE waiting. Hadley, Rich P. is a musician/comedian. The show is good, but the adult show he does, in my opinion, is VERY funny. He has been on our last 3 cruises and is a really nice guy and we enjoy him. If he is on the ship, I would definitely recommend seeing the adult show.

Well, I too am off to bed, but it's only 9 o'clock here. Big quilting day tomorrow. I want to be well rested. We will sew from 9am until 4:30pm and for the most part complete a quilt top. Great fun!

If you hate waiting and you're traveling at a peak time....I have to be honest and say that the buses to Saratoga (and possibly to all/most the DVC resorts) are very slow from the parks back to the resort. I never had a terrible time wiating for a bus to get TO the parks....but literally EVERY TIME I tried to get a bus back from a park or waterpark to the resort I waited for at least 20 minutes (in fact I waited for over 40 minutes outside Blizzard Beach waterpark to get back...AAAAAARRRRRGHHHH!)

We had the same problem last year and waited close to 40 at Blizzard and at least 30 at MGM. It was frustrating and we swore we would NEVER do that again. I think since we are only there this time for about 40 hours, we are going to stick with whatever is around Saratoga and we never get bored so that won't be an issue. Cupcake - I took the trolly and went right past your work and found out the history behind your building and about the architecture. Went to soldier field, the aquarium, Sears Tower (not up) and the shops on Michigan. Had a great time. At night we went to dinner at Brazzaz and if you don't like meat, not a place for you. I also went to the movies and saw Fracture - I just love Anthony Hopkins and that other actor in there that plays the attorney, he wasn't bad either - anyway, had a great time and hope to be back again some day. Went by way too fast and hopefully our cruise won't go by in the blink of an eye. Can't wait to see you again.

Just checking in tonight. Goodness, you all have been busy posting today! Congrats Ken for TOP of Page 500!:thumbsup2

All the talk about Midsummer Night Dream - DD13's Drama class was the one class I was concerned about her "making up" while we are gone on our trip since the class grade is all about participation. Her teacher has been very supportive of the trip however and will give DD13 an alternate written assignment for the time we are gone. Ironically, what the class will be doing is Shakespeare scenes, specifically Midsummer Night Dream! I don't know what the written assignment will be yet, but DD13 may be chatting with you Erik, Hadley, and Laura :)

That is one of my all time favorites too!! I fell in love with it as a 13 year old when my school class went to London and we saw it in the theater. I have the old vhs version, but it is on my upgrade-to-dvd list!!! :) And you are right, that play does sound like the third act. That play sounds HILARIOUS!

I miss 2 days (or 1 and a half) and am over 15 pages behind!! :scared1:
Ok, back to reading the last few pages...almost caught up.

Our Patrick is "into" doctor and crime shows now......we are watching Bones, after watching Grey's Anatomy. He also likes Scrubs...so do I!

Connie - we are spending a week at VWL before the cruise.
we are DVC members and usually save up our points and do almost a month in orlando every three years (allows us to take things slowly). we weren't scheduled to do this until next year and had planned to do the Christmas cruise and then the prices for this cruise came out... and it was just too good to say no to....

for anyone who has question on Dubai or Australia, Singapore or Malaysia for that matter we are happy to answer anything we can, preferably while lounging in a deck chair and sipping the drink of the day....

Erik - how was your stay at Saratoga? This will be our first time there since owning DVC and we are excited! Do they have any good restaurants or fun things to do?:yay:

I liked the Turf Club - it was quiet intimate, the food choices were limited, but of good taste, texture and quality. we were very happy with the dinner - and have returned to eat there a couple of times.

I agree that the resort is very broad in the layout.

I will never stay there again - we did when it first opened and had very bad experiences. Found it dirty, the staff unhelpful, and the appliances possessed. The dishwasher turned itself on at all kinds of times - we had to leave it open since it would do this in the middle of the night (the timer was not on either - we checked that!) The staff finally had to disconnect the power to stop it (on the last day we were there of the 15 day stay):confused3

No worries Cayla--It came through to me. I think it came through to Erik too and he was just teasing back (could be wrong though).
Whew - thanks Hadley I am glad it was caught...didn't want good sarcasism to go to waste you know

Got you beat - I waited 90 minutes  at Wilderness Lodge to go to Animal Kingdom one day - I called 4 times to find out where the busses were...they couldn't figure out why the drivers were skipping that stop. They finally sent a van for me! I got a private ride to Animal Kingdom, and told to call when I was ready to head back to VWL - they picked me up. I was annoyed about the 90 minutes, but they made good.

Wow, 90 minutes! Now I know why I never use their buses, not that I haven't gotten frustrated with the monorail at times too. :headache:

About the posts about Rich Purpura, it sounded like they knew who was onboard. Is there a listing of what entertainers are going to be on our cruise, or do we have to wait until we are on it??

:tigger:
Erik

(Oh and tell Rio he's back at the top of my list......I can remember a number of my childhood halloween costumes: Puck, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Jen the Gelfling (from The Dark Crystal) and one year I was one of the Littles.......I had a thing for tights and/or pointy ears!! :rotfl: )

We also had one act play competitions, back in Oak Creek, Wisconsin and the surrounding areas. Often you would see, if it wasn't a one act play, they would compact a two act into one, such as you described. One year we went to State, but didn't win.

I fell in love with Noises Off in college, and also love the movie!

Laura, thanks for the laughs and can't wait to see more reviews.

Those of you who get to go on this vacation early, I'm so envious! It's still two weeks from today for us before we leave. After this work day, Rob was saying he doesn't know if it's just because we're so excited, or if it's because work is really sucky, but we are READY for a nice long get away from work vacation!

Hi Michelle,
Will look forward to a chat on board - have been to Dubai a few times and am heading off to Sydney this week. Will go Sydney-Hong Kong-Vancouver-Dallas-Orlando in three days!

Thanks Hoagie! Think I will forget to mention this to DD until we are on board! She loves the computer games especially beating Dad!

One catch about using an ATM card that I've heard is that the European ATM machines are setup for a 4 digit pin. So if you pin isn't four digit, it may not work. Can anyone else verify this info?

Ken

Sorry been away for two days so trying to catch up so appologies if this is already answered somewhere elese. I assume that the rest of Europe uses the same system as the UK which is a 4 digit pin so yes it would need to have one as the ATM machines ask for 4 digits.

Hi all!
My DD24 called to tell me she was getting a private tour of the guest room in the castle today! Color Me GREEN!:rotfl: :rotfl: (as with envy)

She is a photographer in Orlando who's best friend "Emily" (you have seen her on the visa comercials where the song is "downtown" and the girl gets a makeover..that girl is emily.) And Emily's boyfriend is Lucas Grabeel from High School Musical. Anyway, Lucas and Emily are at WDW because he is filming a version of Battle of the Disney Stars thing and while he is filming, Emily and Courtney (DD) are getting a private tour. I told her she better have her camera and take tons of photos. She doesnt know if they will let them take pictures, but she will try.:wizard: :wizard:

Boy do I wish I was in Orlando today!

OK very very jealous right now! How cool for her.

Good point. Maybe we should keep the ones we've got (aerospace engineer should pay pretty well shouldn't it?). As far as early retirenmnet, that's why we had them young (only half joking here). :rotfl2:

I do not have Harry Potter reserved. I always pick it up at Costco or BJs that first day and it works well for me:thumbsup2 . The best was when 4 came out and Hank and Jan were visiting and Dave had a trip to Chicago I was accompanying him on without the kids in tow. I had to be REALLY good and not read it on the weekend as it was the first time since Marika had been born Dave and I had that kind of alone time. But, on Monday he went to the convention and I stayed in the hotel ALL DAY, ordered room service for lunch and read the entire novel without interruptions:cloud9:

Do you think Marika would like Harry Potter more if Dave and I didn't insist on calling her Hermione??!!?? Kinda bugs her a bit, but OMG she is so that personality.:rotfl:

Lots of chatter last night ya'll:)

Laura--did the play do you in? I was expecting for you to be up at the crack of dawn to write the much anticipated report:rotfl: You know it is the first thing I will be looking for when we get back to the house.

Busses--I am marveling at all these reports of waiting forever to get back to the resorts. We always use the busses and I can only think of two long waits ever (once was leaving a water park--seems busses do not go through them as often) and once was at AK mid day. The fastest bus times have been at peak times when they are ready too MOVE the crowds. Now, we did have the bad luck of getting caught right behind a bad traffic accident once on the way home from Downtown Disney. Nothing like having two sleeping kids and deciding to take standing room to get them back to the hotel and then ending up on the bus for 3 hours:scared: Actually it could have been much worse. We ended up sitting down in the floor and all the poeple on the bus were the make the best of it kind of guests instead of the yell and complain about uncontrollable events type. Someone started singing Christmas carols and we all had a nice sing along.

So he is in the process of scheduling a time with the LA Passport office.

hi,

not to sound as an alarmist, however, i would be very proactive at this point..... i also tried to get to houston to make an apt for us and was refused (i leave at 6 am tomorrow) ..... not sure what state you are in, but get on the phone with your senators if you are unable to make an apt in la and please do not leave it until the last minute, in the event there is an "issue", give yourself an extra day or two. i went through the same hell as laura and texasaggiemom -- however, my senators did get it sorted within six hours, it was in my hot little hands, within 48 hours, without additional charges.

if he doesn't have his passport, dcl will deny him boarding (by law), travelers insurance, dcl, airlines will NOT reimburse due to an unissued passport, but most importantly, he'll miss the trip of a lifetime with his family.

you are in my thoughts and prayers... the situation with my grandson's passport truly robbed me of the joy and anticipation in planning this cruise. (and the planning and anticipation is half the fun for me!).

they are recommened for long trips on planes. They are pressure knee highs....go to the area at Walgreens, Walmart, CVS or whereever medical stuff is sold. They are in the area with the knee supports, back supports, wrist splints, all that kind of stuff. They come in knee high ( which I wear) and thigh high. They usualy are in white, beige and black. I wear the black ones, because I wear black shoes to work.

Goodmorning all,

Have a great time at the Banner Party today - wish we were there. We'll be thinking about all of you. :grouphug:

Connie, where will you be working from 5/8-5/11?

Scott, did I tell you Jonathan won't be able to get back over to Pasadena while you're here? If you have a car, he is over in Hollywood, if you want to get together for dinner. I'm sorry I'll miss you - of course, I was working there all last week.

Susie, It is Linda (Seaulater) coming out that weekend. So, Sunday morning 5/6. Hours that day are 8-11DL and 10-9 CA. We can sneak away for a few hours that morning and could probably make it there by about 9ish. I've got Linda's number, so if you are going to be there early PM her for her phone. Also, which park does everyone want to go to. CA has the food festival happening at that time.

Glad to hear we have so many comedy and theatre folks here. I spent 10 years in comedy, theatre and TV, so it is so much a part of my life that its fun to hear how much everyone else enjoys it. It was a marvelous time of my life, loved many of the minutes and was frustrated by others.

Captain Hook, yes, he is a great costume to wear since he is a main part of the show. Zoe has a great Hook costume (she was Hook for Halloween) but since we are attempting the 3 bags only rule for this trip, the only costume coming is the smaller Cinderella costume. Everyone can laugh at me when I show up at the port with 4 or more bags (that doesn't count carry ons!) Especially, Kathy who will have half her worldly possessions with her as she moves across the world then the country and I keep saying only 3, only 3. She can laugh first! Then Anna, who will be manuevering everything for everybody. Yesterday I said, we may be doing laundry every 4 days until everything is worn out :laundy: :laundy: :laundy:

This is getting exciting now. We just passed our last mile marker for our trip. DH's parents were just visiting from Tuesday and they left at o dark thirty this morning (we weren't even awake when they left). So now I can officially drag out the suitcases, start packing, and drive DH crazy because I have absolutely no patience.

So I am officially starting to panic as well. I had sort of sketched out a tourist plan in my head back in like February, and I haven't thought about it since. So I really don't know for sure what we are doing in port on the Cadiz/Barcelona days. I'm starting to wonder if we still want to do the hop on/off bus in Cadiz, or if we can do it just walking. I get so worked up, because I don't want to miss anything big or pay too much.

DH just got a good bonus from work, so I'm trying not to stress about expenses, but I wish I knew what special souvenirs would be on the ship. For those that went on the PC cruise, what kind of stuff specific to the crossing did they have (besides pins) and how much? I remember reading somewhere that the stuff sold out quickly because of ebayers. I know the store opens at 6, but we have early dinner, so will stuff be available after dinner, or should we count on someone arriving late to eat. In 2003, my Mom bought a Mickey sarong at Castaway Cay, do they still sell those?

Funny Hope, I went through about three hundred pages of notes on my computer yesterday condensing them into 77 pages, now trying to decide what to print. The funny thing is as I got to one page of notes that you had posted I thought, "wow, Hope had some great posted notes here - this will be useful"

We are so excited! We just booked this cruise for our family. Me, DH, DD-5, DD-1, and DM.

We are crazy to do this at the last minute but it is ok.

I had to get over the intial shock of my daughter missing her Kindergarten graduation. She could have cared less, I was the one who was sad about it. :-)

My husband just returned from a year in Iraq (he has spent 29 out of the last 48 months there) so being surrouned by water for 14 days is exactly what he needs!

Anyway, we are excited to meet all of you!

Just think, in 2 weeks time we'll be on the ship! I really need to start thinking about what's going in the luggage. I'm a laundry freak so I'll probably stop at Walmart or someplace and carry on my big bottle of tide. I can't stand to have the dirty laundry in the room especiallly with 8 people in 2 rooms.

We received our t-shirts but I guess I'm so used to ordering big, we might be wearing dresses!! At least you won't miss us. ha ha

So as you know we just booked this trip VERY last minute. We are in need of 2 passports for our family and I have been stressing! I am so happy    ! I have been sitting on the automatic appointment line for the past 2 days and I just got an appointment!!!!! It is for the 7th (nothing like waiting till the last minute)!!! Atleast we will walk out with the passports in hand!!! YEAH!!!:cool1: :cool1:

We were ready to pay a passport expiditure service $300 (not including the $300 to the government for the passports themselves) for the 2 passports to be done in time. I am so happy to be saving that money and the stress of dealing with them!

Now I just have to pray that Disney gets my airline tickets right on Monday. I have been on the phone them all morning. I am just going to have faith in the supervisior that I talked to that she will take care of everything for me!

taxtracker - When do you leave for WDW?

we are booked on a 6:25 am flight tomorrow morning - i've finished packing - however, have to photograph a wedding/reception this aft/eve -- and then somehow convince adriana (3 and her first trip to disney) that going to bed extra early is a really, really, really good thing and chrissy that he wouldn't have any fun if he went to wdw with us, as we we would only be doing "baby" stuff and "girl" stuff and soon he'll have his special vacation with nana

had no luck in getting cinderella royal table fr adriana... or even 1900 faire park, so will try late night walk up.... any other suggestions?

After you have Yahoo messenger set up, you click the plus sign to add a new person to your list. Type in Kissimmee_family and it will add them, and then wait for them to accept you. Once they do that, they can invite you to view the webcam, can't see it without their invite.

Welcome!!

Good to see another military family taking advantage of the great rates! We're PCSing from Portsmouth, VA to San Diego during this cruise. I broke my ankle 2 weeks ago during our househunting trip out there. DH Ted is Navy medical corps. We have a DS8 and a DD5 who is also leaving Kindergarten early. We look forward to meeting you.

Kathy

By the way gang, I got a new cast put on the left ankle yesterday (pink and green...Amy loves it). The swelling has gone down so much that the old cast got loose. The tech redoing the cast said I appear to be healing amazingly well! I certainly feel better. The swelling in the right ankle seems to be 80% gone. I'm managing to get around much better too. I'm getting bored just sitting around but I'm told that is the best thing I can do right now.

The banner looks great. Nice work everyone. Wish we could haev been there.

We did get many small errands done for the trip today. Bought ginger pills, Barcelona map, spare shoelaces (learned the hard way it is worth having a pair on vacation) and shopped for secret Mickey gift (still looking though). Put our Netflix account on hold (bills on the 30th--figure we'll be too busy to watch much the next two weeks, then on the ship and we usually put it on hold for the summer anyway). Washed the tennis shoes. Just about everything is done. I went throug hthe kids' backapcks, Rio has packed Where teh Sidewalk Ends. Hmmm--if he's willing to carry it and I know he loves it I should probably let him bring it, but it is an awfully heavy one for a carry on:confused3

Just 12 days to go for us:cool1: We haev a karate belt earning party at the dojo, extra make up classes plus regular ones in evrything the kids take and auditions for Sound of Music to keep us busy in the meantime. Thank goodness I haev ltos to keeo me busy or else I would go INSANE.

LINDA--where are you. You aren't allowed to have a life, you were supposed to rush right home to type up a review. I can't wait to read how the play went off.

Lots of chatter last night ya'll:)

Laura--did the play do you in? I was expecting for you to be up at the crack of dawn to write the much anticipated report:rotfl: You know it is the first thing I will be looking for when we get back to the house.

Has anyone heard from Laura this morning? I am assuming that she did not die at the play last night, but she could be in jail for beating up a director.

Logged on specifically to hear how it went. Do tell!!!

And another thanks to Ken for everything involved in producing hundreds of badges for just our cruise alone!!!

Finally, let's all think... WHERE WILL YOU BE TWO WEEKS FROM NOW?!?!?! It's a nice thought!

 C.

Sorry I did not post sooner, but I truely did not know that A Midsummer Nights Dream was a mini series...We did not get home until almost midnight, from a play that was supposed to start at 8pm, and NO we did NOT go to Denny's for the post production munching. So I slept in and knew I HAD to pop on and post before I took a shower and headed off to night two of Ghetto Shakespear

We started about 1/2 an hour late, which in itself would not have been so bad, but then intermission ran long (30 min instead of 15) and we didn't actually finish the play until almost 11pm. Hopefully we will run a tighter ship tonight! :lmao:

Most of the set was done 2 hours before we started. Well kind of, they put plants where people had been blocked to go and that caused some chaos on the stage later

Most of the kids did well, except for Helen. She was the arm flapper and once again she got airborne. In fact she actually flapped and slapped her thighs so often that it got kind of funny and people started laughing at her, especially when she would get near a microphone and it would echo through the auditorium. And then she started doing this hand gesture stuff, and in the back of my mind, I started hearing 'bad boys, bad boys, watcha gonna do, watcha goona do when they come for you' which I started humming under my breath in the balcony, and a couple of the girls heard it and we all started giggling and then she managed to swing her arm out and whack one of the mics...and that left every one in hysterics. So Helen was whacking mics and flashing gang signs...Ghetto Shakespear...Word...

Lysander did not flash us his tighty whities, but Demetrius could have. Fortunately he listened to aged costume mom, and wore bike shorts and saved everyone the humiliation. The actors were supposed to stash their props on the stage. Demetrius stashed his so well he couldn't find it with the new stage dressing. But bless his heart instead of fighting with a sword, he improvised by trying to fight Puck with his fists. Of course he still forgot his lines at the end, however, I told Miranda (my child) that if he forgot his lines to just say, play on, play on to the mechanicals doing the play for them. This worked out well, and kept things moving.

Things were going pretty well, until the pivital scene where the father, Thesius and Hypolita discover the sleeping lovers in the glen, and Thesius orders that the hunting horns be sounded to wake them....there is dead silence...nothing, the hiss of the microphones and then..............................................

the sound of.................

an ELEPHANT TRUMPETING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: At this point, everyone lost it!!!! The kids on stage actually jumped because they were not expecting it!! They had the total deer in the head lights look. Fortunately they got a chance to recover and compose while the audience quit laughing. After the show, everyone kept asking what was up with the elephant? Then at the end when there was supposed to be the sound of 12 chimes, indicating it was midnight and time for the lovers to go to bed after the festivities, a **** crowed. :headache:

So all in all, it was not bad, far better than the dress rehearsal. Hopefully Helen will give up on her desire to fly off the stage. I am off to take a shower and go in and help with makeup again. You would be surprised at how many high school age boys do not know how to put on eyeliner.

Erik, you will happy to know that Puck was back to his green fairy pants!!! Apparently I am pretty good at this costume stuff. In fact a couple of the costume kids said that Mr Fisher has decided to quit arguing with me, since he is afraid I will quit, or worse, chop him up with a chainsaw. I smiled and told them I would never use a chainsaw. I prefer a sharp scalpal, it is more personal that way!!! :lmao: :lmao: And yes, I did know what I was doing with the costumes!!!

Which leads me to the playbill:

Everyone who is an adult supervisor is listed by first and last name, except me. I am simply

Mrs. Babykin

I am going to conclude that I am like Cher or Madonna, and while they need no last name, I no longer need a first name. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We are so excited! We just booked this cruise for our family. Me, DH, DD-5, DD-1, and DM.

We are crazy to do this at the last minute but it is ok.

I had to get over the intial shock of my daughter missing her Kindergarten graduation. She could have cared less, I was the one who was sad about it. :-)

My husband just returned from a year in Iraq (he has spent 29 out of the last 48 months there) so being surrouned by water for 14 days is exactly what he needs!

Anyway, we are excited to meet all of you!

Welcome Brooklyn and thank your husband for his honorable work in Iraq. Looking forward to meeting you.

Laura - I was on just in time...I thought that something had to have delayed you, but never dreamed that the short version at dress would turn in to a mini-series. I'm totally picturing their faces when they hear the elephant - OMG!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I have to catch my breath!! :rotfl2: Your descriptions are so vivid....thank you again for a great laugh!! Any video by chance - I'd love to see Helen flash her gang signs, try to take flight, and whack the microphone.:lmao: ::Is it bad of me to want to see that?:::rolleyes1

Wasn't there a DL meet planned for May 6th? I have it on my calendar, but haven't heard anything more about it. I think it was because Scott was going to be out here. Is that correct? If it is still on, where and when are we meeting?

I'll be at DL next weekend. I think there was going to be a mini meet on Sunday. Let me know.

Sorry, I've been MIA. Working on designing scrapbook pages!:woohoo:

Finally got our docs ! No magnets though.

Far too busy at work this past week (moved departments, and have a boss who doesn't believe in lunch breaks), to read all the new messages on the board, so hope I haven't missed anything. I also spent 2 days in London, so haven't finished sorting out cruise essentials - like hotel and currency.

Still haven't packed either - have sorted some stuff out, but have far too much - not used to having to think about weight of suitcases - we have no problems when we come to Florida, so how come we can only have 1 "free" suitcase with BA from Barcelona? Doesn't make sense.
Hope to finally pack tomorrow - This time next week will be in Orlando, so need to get myself organised.

This group seems to be getting bigger every day - have we taken over the ship yet?

Anyone know where in Orlando I can buy some grass skirts- might be able to persuade my DH to wear one.

Just looked at the time - must get some sleep.

less than 2 weeks!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Glad you joined us! I have DD 6 who just finished kindergarten, her name is Sophia. I also have a DD 4 named Lena.
What room do you have??

Jennifer

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and my husbands welcome home from Iraq. We are so excited about this trip!!! Since we just confirmed the trip yesterday I am SOOOOO far behind the power curve right now with packing and everything. It will all come together though, it always does :-)

We are not sure what rooms we have yet. We are booking a CAT 6 & 12. We were originally supposed to have 6552 for the CAT 6 and GTY for the 12. We are having a little issue with our airline tickets through Disney so we have to wait to finalize everything on Monday. Did I mention, I hate waiting! I am just keeping the faith that they will work everything out for me.

I will be sure to let you know once we get our room assignments, even if it is just for the CAT 6.

Ok, so I have a few questions... This is my first cruise. DH has been on many but it was way before kids and he is a lot simpler then I am.

If anyone has any "must brings" for the trip please let me know. I do not even know where to begin with packing. Living on a ship for 15 days is a stretch for me :-) I have no idea what I am doing :confused3

Can you do laundry on the ship?

Is there a limit to the number of bags that we can bring on?

How "dressy" is dinner each night?

Where do you store your suitcases in the room?

Has anyone posted a packing list or know where I can look at one??? Again this not being on land thing is a new concept for me. I do not venture out of my comfort zone often and sailing across the Atlantic, what am I thinking???

So after you are done laughing and feeling sorry for me, advice would be GREAT!!!! I wish I had time to go through all of these 500 pages of posts but there is no way! So I am sorry if any of this stuff is repeated but I would apprieicate any insight that anyone can give!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I can answer some of your questions.

1. Yes, you can do laundry on the ship. Bring quarters and bring your own soap and Bounce fabric sheets. They charge to much on the ship for them.

2. No limit to the number of bags you can bring on (we saw one gal with 32 bags for the 2004 Christmas Cruise-no joke). Just remember, you will want to tip the porters at the port for each bag. They have extra luggage tags and you can fill out. What I do is print labels with all the information and then I just have to stick on. Makes it much easier. Also, remember you will have luggage restrictions on your flights. If DCL puts you on Delta for example, each paying passenger can check in 2 bags not to exceed 50 pounds each if you are flying coach. You can also carry on 2 items (a small bag and purse or a computer bag and purse etc.)

3. There is only one actual formal night on the ship. Two semi formal nights and the rest will be themed or casual clothing (i.e. themed nights include Pirate Night, Tropical Night). You will see everyone dressed from very formal including tuxes to pretty casual. Do what you feel comfortable with. You won't feel out of place!

4. You can store your suitcases under the bed for the most part unless they are too wide. We usually put ours inside each other and shove them under the bed. If you absolutely have no space, ask your room steward if he can store them for you. But, knowing we are all going to have tons of luggage, that may be a problem!

5. I am sure someone has a packing list they could share with you. If not, going to the main thread on this board and I know some people have shared their packing lists in the past. I'm one of those that just throw everything into the suitcases at the last minute. I always have good intentions of getting everything packed early, but it just doesn't happen!

Once again, welcome aboard. And ask away with your questions. It will help you feel more comfortable getting ready for the trip. And be sure to go on line and get all your documents filled out and get your children signed up for the kids clubs. Disney has the best kids program on the sea and they will love it!

See you soon.

I shouldn't really be answering this, but here goes.

DO NOT ask to take the menus. Official word is.....if you ask, your server is suppose to tell you know.

Now, for the rest of the story...............

My tablemates will tell you that I am the keeper of the menus. Don't believe them. They are NOT telling the truth! :confused3 :confused3

However, I have seen someone in our group (me?) carry a bag along to dinner every night, and it seems that that "bag" ends up taking out a set of menus for each family at the table.

So take the information for what it's worth, carry a bag to dinner and stash the menus!

This message will self destruct in 10 seconds!

The best packing advice I ever heard was to pack twice as much film and half as much clothes!!!

Remember the kid(s) and you two will spend a lot of time in the pools and such. Also during the day it is really casual, and trust me, there are no fashion police keeping track of how many times you wore those black capris, because we will all be wearing them!!!

Remember to set aside enough money to cover tips for everyone in your family including kids. About $150 per person for the cruise.

Bring a highlighter so when you go through the Navigator for the next day (you get it with your turn down service after dinner) and can mark the items that catch your eye.

Register your kid(s) online for their clubs online before you go. Then after the lifeboat drill you can take them down, introduce them to the counselors and get a pager so that they can contact you if your kidlet wants to get out. However, most of us have yet to have that happen. You and hubby should get lots of 'quality' time together.

Don't worry about not having Palo's ressies online, you should be able to go get them soon after your board in one of the lounges. Ask a cast member or one of the lanyard wearing Disboards for instructions. However, do not be surprised if who ever you ask just takes you by the hand and escorts you through the process.

RELAX!!!! It is a vacation, not a competitive sport. We may seem a little gung ho and OCD about some of this stuff, but, we prefer the term experienced and always love to take newbies like yourself under our protective wings!

Oh, and WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Since I have little ones like you, I basically went up and down the aisle in the pharmacy and bought almost one of everything! Children's motrin, Benadryl, band aids, visine, Rolaids, etc...
Lots of wet wipes, autograph books, pens, dry erase board or message pad for the door of the cabin to leave messages, 2 or more swimsuits for each person, ( carry on swimsuis for the kids so you can swim as soon as you board; this is the least busiest time for the pools)

Has anyone heard from Laura this morning? I am assuming that she did not die at the play last night, but she could be in jail for beating up a director.

It is such a good think I wasn't having a sip of wine at the time I read this! (I pretty much just drink red wine.) The computer would have been purple!

We live in Murrieta. It is near Temecula (between San Diego and LA).

Yes, we def need it! He has been in Iraq more then CA in the last 4 years. This is going to be exactly what we need as a family!

That must mean that you DH hasn't spent much time with DD. :sad1: I will pray for this to be a great bonding experience for your whole family.

.... any other suggestions?

Check with guest services as soon as you get there. And keep checkin back.

Most of the set was done 2 hours before we started. Well kind of, they put plants where people had been blocked to go and that caused some chaos on the stage later

Ghetto Shakespeare--Laura thanks for the fantastic blow by blow. Took me a while to really stop laughing so I can type again. :rotfl: Good thing no one was flashed by a toga boy. GREAT that the director came to his senses and trusted your costume fashion sense and Puck was a fairy:thumbsup2

Packing tips for Stephanie--A few good things people tend to forget about:
1. Nightlight (interior cabins are very dark)
2. Tide to Go
3. twice as much sunscreen as you think you'll need
4. small bills to tip porters and for room service
5. color copies of passports and copies of credit cards (front and back) and copies of vaccination records of the kids (just in case)
6. Enough diapers, baby food, formaula to make it all the way to Tenerife--they do not sell this on baord at all.

Also, don't forget to call your bank and Credit card company before you leave and tell them where you'll be and when so they don't think your cards are stolen and put them on hold.

ABSOLUTLY!!! I am heading to disneyland next Sunday to look for some Disney graduation items. The guy from DCL said to tell our server the 1st night which night we want to celebrate and give him whatever stuff I want them to bring out. What dining do you have? We are in the early seating.

Oh, I am so excited. I def want to plan something!!!

Im probably one of the few Florida locals that did not make it to the banner party. I wish I could have been there. Would liked to have met you all before the cruise, but I was at work all day (only from 0600-1800). The banner looks great!!!!

Has anyone ever come up with a scavenger hunt game to be played on board? Im guessing that people bring all sorts of crazy things with them that could added to a list. Anyone game? Or maybe some wacky suggestions. Just a thought of course.

Hi Hadley,

I decided to check the boards before heading to bed. We just got back from a crab pickin party at the next door neighbors' house. I'm sure going to miss the steamed jimmy crabs and peel-n-eat shrimp with Old Bay when we move out of Virginia. It's so messy and a lot of work for your dinner but it's so much fun. Any little nick or cut in your cuticle or finger will burn when the Old Bay gets in it. My idea of a perfect night...sitting around on the patio with a bunch a good friends pickin crabs and drinking Coronas while listening to Jimmy Buffett and watching the kids run around the yard like a bunch of monkeys. I had 2 Coronas tonight...big drinking night for me. Ted's still next door playing poker with the guys. Time for me to go to bed. Goodnight!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

i have a big problem...my anti social husband has asked to be at a table with just the four of us....so how am i gonna stash 2 sets of copies without anyone noticing!!!???? :scared1:

Oh my sweet heavens I didn't go to bed last night until after midnight and now I log on at about 8:30 and there are a DOZEN new pages of posts!!! Well rather than post while I was reading and then have to go back continuously.....here are some of the things I remember wanting to respond to while I was reading:

1.) Hadley---don't I remember you saying that you guys often stay at the value resorts? If so then that is possibly why you never wait for buses. The value resorts have some of the largest guest capacities AND are among the most popular resorts to stay in (because of their cost) and are necessarily much higher traffic and I read somewhere once that there is literally TWICE as much bus service to these resorts as any other really. I also have heard that the DVC resorts specifically often have less bus service (although I don't know if that's a rumore or not) because they assume that a larger proportion of DVC folks will have cars of some kind with them.

2.) Banner....well what can I say....it looks amazing. The banner is gorgeous. The party looked amazing. I literally started to tear up a bit I was so excited seeing it!! :yay: (...and for the record I'm taking at least PARTIAL credit for that party even though I couldn't go because if you read back when we were all trying to figure out who would make the banner I think I actually threw the idea out there, "Why don't some of the folks native to Central Florida all do a pre-cruise meet and make the banner together!"...so I'm going claim that the excellent time you all had was at least partially my doing  -----or course had the party been awful I'd be like, "who's crappy idea was THAT anyway?!?!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ). Anyhow....I'm so glad you guys had fun and were able to make such a HUGE and BEAUTIFUL banner!!:woohoo:

3.) Kissimmee----do I see a bird or parrot of some kind in a cage in the background of one of those pictures? What kind of bird do you have? Jason and I are bird fanatics....we have a Noble Macaw and I map my tours of Animal Kingdom from large parrot to large parrot! :thumbsup2

4.) Midsummer's Nightmare----Oh....thankfully I've been blessed with a vivid imagination so i have constructed a little visual in my head of the spectacle.....and the best part?....PUCK'S FAIRY PANTS!:dance3:

5.) :welcome: to our new family! My brother is also in the military and he has spent a great deal of time in the Gulf in the last 3 years....including a 6 month stint in Iraq ending this past December....and he and his family are en route to Europe now because they've been restationed in Germany for a 3 year tour.

6.) I'm so glad that everyone jumped on answering all of Brooklyn's questions about the cruise....you're going to have a great time on this trip! another tip someone told me once that Jason and I love (related to one of the tips already given)....is if you have two people in your group to bring two highlighters with you in 'primary' colors (like a blue and a yellow or a blue and a pink or a yellow and a pink) then when you get the navigator have each person go through the navigator themself with one of the highlighters....when you're both done.....the things you want to do will be in one color (yellow, for ex.) and the things your companion wants to do will be int eh other color (blue) and the things you BOTH want to do will be in the combo color (GREEN!!) which makes it easy to look at the schedule and see what opportunities there are to hang out together or plan around! :thumbsup2

I'm sure there's more to post....but this is already so long....but OH I remember one more thing.....we got our hair done today. Jason's is fine but I hate mine.....she colored it too dark and I'm not completely happy with the cut but I don't think I'll have time to get it redone before we leave!! :headache: (I have to work and/or travel for work literally every day up to the minute we take off!!). Oh well....looks like you'll all be seeing me with my hair in a ponytail for the whole trip!

Can you do laundry on the ship?
OMG YES!!!!!

Is there a limit to the number of bags that we can bring on?
NO! but you will be limited to how many can go on the airlines.

How "dressy" is dinner each night?
There is 1 fomral night 2 semi formal night, and pirate night. We are planning "Carribean night" when we go to Parrot Cay for dinner.

Where do you store your suitcases in the room? Under the bed, along with your lifejackets to make more room in the closet.

Has anyone posted a packing list or know where I can look at one???
Yes, there are several pakcing lists available. Go to the regular DisBoards and look under DCL, there is one listed there. And you can google packing lists, too. Just plan to cover your knees and shoulders if you visit cathedrals in Italy and Spain. Plan to wear shorts and Tshirts during the day on the ship.
Again this not being on land thing is a new concept for me. I do not venture out of my comfort zone often and sailing across the Atlantic, what am I thinking???
We are all wonderring this, I have never been at sea for 6 whole days with NO land in sight!

Hey Kathy,

It sounds like you had a great night. The New England version of what you just described would be losbters and steamers with corn, rolls, tons of butter, etc. out on the deck while the kids run through the trees (oh and Dave makes the best margarita and ammerreto margaritas). Sometimes we end with a fire and marshmellow roast which always draws every kid in the neighborhood. That is pretty much every Sunday afternoon for us in the summer. I'm sure you'll find a replacement item in Coronado which is just as good in its own way as Old Bay (seems everywhere we live it is something different, but always special and good).

Looking forward to meeting you in two weeks. Stay off the ankle in the meantime:)

Hey Erik--It is true that we nearly always stay at a value hotel--so perhaps that is why we don't have bus issues. But, we do end up eating at other resorts at least every other day if not more often. I do admit to never having taken a bus to a DVC resort.

What else guys???

I actually feel like Pharmacy Central! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I have everything....something for upset stomachs, :woohoo: diarreah, constipation, :sad1: bug bites, :lmao: allergies, cuts, sprains, sore muscles, dry eyes, sunburn, windburn, Mal-de-Mer, :cool2: sore feet, sore knees, Lysol wipes, Purell wipes, laundry soap:laundy: ......etc, etc, etc.....and this is all in addtion to our regular medications that we take everyday!

HONESTLY! I hope I bring it all back home again!

The party was originally misseulalie and us when we were still on the Jun 6th cruise. But the idea of making it a banner party was in a post I read. So it might have been you for sure.

My wife and kids can't see a pet and not duct tape me to a chair until I give in and get it. We past a house on the way home from church a couple weeks ago with a pair of cockatiels for sale.

There was no living with them until I said fine...

Since we moved to this house we have had baby ducks, chicks, five goats, four puppies, assorted Koi, a flying squirrel, a hamster, nine or ten bunnies, two cockatiels and a cat.

Hi Hadley, funny story, but Captain Tom made us book the Transatlantic cruise this year (he didn't have to break our arms), but anyway, he told us then that he plans on getting on the Magic just a week or two before he takes the Magic to the Med. Welcome to the newcomers! Great that you can join us!

Have really enjoyed reading the "Midsummers Nightmare" as both DW and I have been in our concert dress rehearsal all day! It lasted 6 hours for a 2 hour show and I had to laugh as the director took to flapping her arms all over the place!

Having crossed most of the Pacific and the Tasman sea twice in severe cyclones I highly recommend taking some Dramamine (Gravol for instance) with you! Prreventing sea sickness is much better than trying to get rid of it!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

OK OK OK I just got another idea for a party on board, there is the ½ way point, then we should also celebrate crossing the Prime Meridian.

And of course it can salvage a Palo's reservation when your suit does not get back from the cleaners in time.

:lmao: :lmao: good very good, second pic reminds me of a story,

I want to say there is a school that has a duct tape prom all outfits made of the wonder tape.

I have packed ours for the trip and installed a government approved Label that says “ This tape is not approved by DCL for use to affix items to one’s stateroom door”

I really think it is a wise move on DCL part to let folks know about the effects the tape has, hey I am a shareholder, cut those maintenance costs.

I need to go back and re-read a few things, but I do have a question. What have any of you ever needed the Duct tape for? This is one thing, besides my kitchen sink, I have not packed.

I would call a group of Cynthia’s a Covey, my sister is one.

Now for the uses of Duct Tape. I have used it in several First Aid Applications, Mended a Tent pole at 18,235 ft on Mt McKinley (Denali) during a storm, Patched Wetsuits, fixed several items of camping and dive gear, mended a dog leash, and yes even hemmed a pair of tux pants, fixed a pair of binoculars on the Serengeti, that’s just to name a few.

Never leave home without a duct tape and a few zip ties, sadly travel with my swiss army knife is difficult, as it is not allowed on the ship, otherwise we could do wonders.

Why don't we have our own Kindergarten graduation for our 2 little girls. Any other Kindergarten graduates out there?

I have one.... (or are you counting my daughter???)

Do any of you well connected people who know ever so much about what will be happening on board happen to know who will be the captain on the crossing? Every single DCL trip we have ever been on (even on the WOnder way back when) we have had Captain Tom. We really like him. But it looks like Captain Thord has been onthe Msgic as of late. Anyone know for sure who gets to take the Magic home?

In March it was Thord. Mum was told that Tom was in the Med getting things ready so not sure if he has come back or not.

Sandi and Ken--Thanks for letting me know Tom will be taking us across the pond. I'm sure Thord is greta too, but Captain Tom is so ingrained in my DCL experience it would throw me for a bit of a loop of he weren't there (especailly for a cruise of this length).

The banner looks great - and it sure looks like it was a fun party!

I'm going to pull out the luggage today and the dog will be staring me down, no doubt. She doesn't like to see me pull out my luggage and not hers. Guess I'll just have to spoil her til I leave on Friday.

This is going to be a fun party!!!

Hi everyone,

Greg - that is an amazing itinerary for three days - i hope you don't sleep through too much of the cruise.

Nicholas - we would be happy to talk to you about Penang, in fact Georgetown in Chris's original home town.

The Banner is great :thumbsup2 really good job everyone

Laura - i love your "review" of the play :lmao: Shakaespere would be proud...

My two boys (being Rio and Dave) have spent the morning builiding a replica of the Magic our of K'nex. My kitchen table will not be used for anything but a display stand (this is about 5-6 feet long) until they take it apart (post cruise being my guess!). But, it looks pretty cool. Rio is working on getting wake like waves comming out from the sides as I type. At least I am not the only one who can think of nothing but the cruise right about now!

At least you won't miss us. ha ha

:cool1: HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE TABLETS... they take up a lot less room.. you must look for them.. instead of the bottle.. each tablet does 1 load of laundry and bring softener sheets.:cool2:
