Holy Toledo.....this thread sure has grown since January!! I just thought I would take a look to see what you have been talking about. I didn't realize what I was getting into. I am glad to see this group is getting organized, I now have a lot of stuff to think about! We are not sure yet if we will be flying in 1 or 2 days before the cruise but I for sure don't want to fly in the day of! HoJo's sounds like it's the place to be....I hope there is still room for me! <-----unintentional rhyme!:rotfl2: That is it for now, looks like I will be checking this post daily from now on for updates.
Has anyone done any research on excursions yet?
I sent in Aruba info that will be on the website.

Last night I couldn't have typed if I had wanted to. He ended up giving me a shot of cortisone in the wrist for now, and said to do "absolutely nothing" with that hand for a month, until I see him again. Apparently, everything that the general orthopedic surgeon had done for the last 4 months was wrong. There had been a crack in the bone, and there's a tear in the tendon. Hopefully, the cortisone will take the inflammation down enough to help the tendon heal without having to have surgery.
After the numbing stuff (maybe novacaine?) wore off late yesterday afternoon, I was in so much pain I was cross-eyed. He said it could be 3 days of that pain, but today is much better, so by tomorrow it should (I hope!) be really good. I have no idea how I'll handle some of the rides where I have to really hang on. Of course, DH said "Just don't go on them". Yeah, right!
So any posts from here on out will be short ones.......
OMG! Stace that is terrible. I am sure that your friends will hold on to you on the rides--they wouldn't let their pal fall off (if they can help it!) Hope your wrist gets to feeling better.:)

SCORE ONE MORE FOR THE SWABBIES!
The board was moving along so slow all day, I turn away for about 30-60 minutes and you guys make a run for it. At least it was a Swab. I think we have all but 2 between 40K and 48K. I think we need to either do like NASCAR and reset the points to 0 after the 39K and start over, or treat this like a skins game and count every 10K as a skin and see where we're at. Swabs will probably still be down though.

Found this very interesting today. OPens today.
Visitors to the Grand Canyon are to get stunning views from a raised glass platform being inaugurated shortly.
Rising 4,000ft (1,220m) from the canyon's floor and 70ft (20m) beyond its rim, the Skywalk is being described as an engineering first.
The Hualapai Indians, who own the site, are hoping to attract visitors to a high unemployment area.
But some tribal members say this is a desecration of sacred ground and environmentalists are also concerned.
Former astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin will be among the first to go onto the walkway.
How the Skywalk measures up to other constructions
Construction of the Skywalk began in March 2004 - and will open to the public on 28 March with 120 people allowed on the platform at any one time.
The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100mph (161km/h), as well as an 8.0-magnitude earthquake within 50 miles (80.5km).
Las Vegas businessman David Jin raised the money to build the Skywalk which will be given to the Hualapai in exchange for a percentage of the profits.
"When we have so much poverty and so much unemployment, we have to do something," Sheri Yellowhawk, told the Associated Press news agency.
"It sounded like a good idea."

For those booking own airfare, etc., what are the better sites, methods you use?
I find that http://www.sidestep.com is a good location for finding fares. Generally speaking you can book airfare about 330 days before travel, so we would have to start looking around September 21, 2007 for best fares (depending on your travel plans).
For rental cars, I find the codes on the mousesavers site work in most locations unless they are listed as Florida/Orlando only. I have found http://www.bnm.com/ to be a decent site for checking rental car rates, although then you need to compare other code rates....
Thanks for the info Tom. I usually just book Delta or Southwest. I use the Entertainment book for their rental car coupons.

I'll post some of his mateys - I thought they were great - they even visited a spell with us!
Hmmmm ...Lets see ...the beads are way off on both sides ...there appears to be no dangles in the wig , not even the infamous blue coin ...The Hat looks like it is going to fly away with those wings , the scarf(bandana) is wrong , The wig does not nearly have enough dreads ...and the material used for the frock coat is wrong ..And it also seems the facial hair is paste on .....But as long as he is having fun all is good ...

Well, we have an appointment next Monday with the orthopedic doc. He is the one to have so I am finding out. I truly believe this is a God thing because we found him by accident but have since found out that a few people we know have had surgery done by him. Things just starting falling into place since we have been in touch with him. After a year of dealing with pain we hope she is going to be getting the right treatment and be back to her old self soon. Thanks for the Hugs Lisa.
Any news would be good right now. Thanks, Lorri
DD has really been strong through all this but we know she has just about had enough of not knowing what is causing her so much pain.

This is so cool, the DISBoards work over the crackberry, so thing like church, funerals, driving, minor surgery, and long meetings will no longer be a bar to feeding the OCD!!!!!! Of course I should weigh the downsides: crackberry thumb, need to charge more often, accidents, sore arm (from DW hitting me saying put that away), lost productivity. Nope, downs don't outweigh feeding the addiction

Congrats on the pirate: Andy!
Now I'm going to do something I rarely do. Go into my kitchen and bake something. :scared1: I am determined to make a homemade birthday cake for my sweet, precious, cutie pie teen boy! (He hates when I get all mushy on him.)
This could go bad very easily, so Roger, be sure and watch the news tonight. If there is smoke rising in Oxnard, it's probably me!

Hi Jennifer! It's starting to chill down here too
Currently it is 25 out, but feels like 13. That's probably what it'll be like on my trek to the bus tomorrow AM. OK, actually, I went and looked. For my commute time, it's supposed to be 15, feels like 3. Woo Hoo! Spring. :headache:
YAY!!!! Only five more seasons til our TOAL
That just sounds SOOOO far away! I've actually done some serious thinking about what to do between May 07 & August 08. I'll have a whole 4 vacation days to play with. I was thinking of splitting it between October and December, but apparently, taking vacation in December is a big no-no for our Dept and it was just a fluke that I was able to take off for 4 days this past December. However, I casually asked my boss today if he would consider letting me go for 3 days in December and he said to send him an e-mail. At least it's a possibility instead of an outright NO. Not sure if I'll get all the time or even a day, but it can't hurt to ask, right??? We'll see how it goes..... fingers crossed!!
Now, it's time for me to sleep. Even though it's Spring, it's still dark out when I get up. How wrong is that???? :sad2: Dark and 3 degrees tomorrow. :scared: Woo freakin' Hoo!

Thanks for all the Happy Birthday wishes. Back on February 16th, I saw all the Happy Birthdays for "Curtis". It took me reading about 10 of them to realize they were for my DH.
It is raining here in Washington State....what else is new? At least it is warm enough to go outside between showers. The whole neighborhood was out on Sunday mowing lawns. It was the first time since last fall we'd been able to get out. Our lawn was about 6" of thick, green grass.
We are off to Maui in 9 days. Hope sk8ingmom saves some of the sunshine for us. Our first trip to Hawaii was to the island of Maui in 2004 and we haven't been back until now. We REALLY like the Big Island best, but wanted to give Maui another shot this year.
Am I the only one that doesn't get "The Secret"? I believe the premise is if you imagine something enough, it will happen. I think the idea of "positive thinking" is a good one; but it still comes down to doing what it takes to make good things happen in your life. You can't just lay on the couch and hope to get in shape...you have to get out there and do the work. I don't want my kids getting the message that if they wish for a new bike....it will just appear. Am I missing something? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I also don't get the Secret :confused3. Looking at a picture of some supermodel is not going to get me thin thighs. I guess it's my Irish/Italian/Catholic upbringing. You work hard for what you want. And with a little prayer, you just might get it.

I understand the frustration of taking vacation during December for you. I took some last year and have some planned for this December but it is always hard to justify it to myself when I know what others are doing during this time.

Anna
I saw them make fun of that on Best Week Ever on VH1. They said the little boy drew a picture of the bike & carried it with him wherever he went. Apparently it was suppose to be positive thinking that made it happen for him, but in reality it shows his grandfather giving him the bike, so according to VH1...the big "secret" was more that the grandparents took the hint, figured he must really want that damn bike & went out & bought it for him.
He'll be fine.

Good evening everyone :wave2:
Just a quick post to say that I won't be on for a while -- family emergency. We've even had to cancel our cruise for this Saturday.
:grouphug:
Me, too. I've had the knees done, my heels, and my spine. But so far, this one hurt the most. Except the time they accidentally hit a nerve when doing my spine.
:scared1:
 I hope you feel better. Hopefully seeing the Mouse, will help ease the pain. Have a great time at Disneyland!!!
If the clock keeps getting slower and slower, does that mean that the trip keeps getting farther and farther away?
In fact, is it possible that if we post on DISBoards while on the cruise, we may have posted before we left?
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Glad to help. :) I just know where to look for the deals. It is others who find them. This one was actually emailed to me by a friend here. I am usually the one to send her deals but was very happy to get this one from her...and be able to share it. :)
Our order arrived on Monday. It was funny to see our tiny little box of paper clips in this big box all by itself, we got a big :lmao: over that one. The box with the paper in it was so heavy, Hazel had to leave it on the front step until I got home.

Thanks MR, she went to bed a bit ago. She is very sore. I gave her some stronger pain meds but they really don't help too much, i just hope it knocks her out enough to sleep some.
Monday can't come soon enough.
So sorry to hear this Laura, sending some extra :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: your way. I just hate it when Angelina is sick or hurt, and we can't do much for her. Those are the days when it is tough being a parent. I hope the pain meds worked.

Thanks from me also. Of course my DW thought I was insane when box 1 of 2 showed up yesterday about 18" x 12" x 6" and had only the box of paperclips in it..... Paper showed up today.
Wasn't that the funniest thing...................:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh yeah! i have tons of these type of pictures. That one was probably the least gross. They crack us up. We are usually the entainment where ever we go. They do watch out for each other when they aren't being silly or fighting. Here is one of those times.

Thank you all for the well wishes. I will live. 14 stitches under the right eye. Pete took great care of me. Next time I hope he remembers the anestethic before he sticks the needle in my eye. Just kidding. The black eye will go away, the bloody clothing will be cleaned, bot the Pirate scar Peter left me will be there forever.
Jack
Oh Jack, glad to hear you are doing better, but ouch what a boo-boo to receive shortly before vacation. :scared: Take Care!!!

It has taken me over 1 hr to get on the boards. Don't they know I need my DIS to start out my day along with my cup of coffee!:surfweb:
Hope everyone has a great 1st day of spring but I know in some areas it will still seem like winter. It supposed to go up to 70 here today. The daffodils are in full bloom and I heard that the cherry blossoms in D.C. are starting to bloom.
Hope to talk to you later if this board doen't go down again.

Most of the icy stuff is gone, there are still traces where the sun doesn't get to though. I did a little slipping and sliding yesterday, but it is getting better!!!
After high's in the upper 40's today, we will be up in the 60's starting on Thursday and will be there through the end of next week, due to the 9 day forecast on Fox!!! :thumbsup2
Time to get the car warmed up so I can get Angelina to school, then have to come home and get myself ready for work, so I can pay for this TOAL!!!

Jack, OUCH! 14 stitches. Hope you're a fast healer.
Today is my Friday and it couldn't have come any sooner. Hope the sun is able to melt away the rest of the ice and Spring can finally get settled in for all who need it

DD is in a lot of pain today. We think that it is from having the contrast dye put into her hip. It added a bit of pressure. She can't really get comfortable. I hate that I can't help her. I would take the pain for her if I could.
Oh Laura....that is the worst pain.....the heartache you feel when your child is not well. Prayers for your dd. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

The boards went down for upgrades about 10:30 or 11 last night so perhaps everyone went to sleep instead?
my store didn't either....could it have sold out altogether, and that is why it wasn't allowed?
We just ordered on-line, there was no shipping charge.

OK...so I just spent an hour of my workday ketchuping up from yesterday! I guess I better get used to this. For those of you in pain, with stitches, or just sick, I hope you feel better soon!
I talked to DW and decided to book onboard and save it for one of the new ships. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but how many of you will be doing the same thing?

I wanted to tell everyone Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for our "stinky" DD. She did sleep better last night due to the extra pain killers I gave her. She said she didn't even wake up which is very unusual for her right now. She even over slept this morning. Too bad she can't have that every night.
I really do appreciate everyone here and I want you all do know that it is so nice to be able to mention some concern and know that there are friends here who will support you. I thank God every day for my new friends on DIS. It is truly amazing to me that even though we have never met in person we all have bonded with each other in an awesome way. It is truly a God thing!! You are all so wonderful, and we do covet your prayers and thoughts. Pardon my mushiness.  :grouphug: :grouphug:
