Just had to come back and share. Even though announcements were not supposed to happen until tomorrow, my boss just had a converstaion with me.
I STILL HAVE A JOB!
I won't be working for the same boss or even the same kind of work. I got slotted for another position within the company. I was targetted for getting laid off because I'm not working on one of the major projects right now. But my boss and her director lobied for me and found me something.
Now I'm going to miss the pirate run.....unless you all are kind enough to wait a few hours.....I'm about to hit the 75 min commute....

The cookies turned our rather well!!!
The cookie dough was from a fundraiser at Lina's school. Since we didn't have room in the freezer when the cookie dough arrived the other day, Hazel put it in the frig, the cookies needed to be baked within 7 days after thawing out. This trip came up at just the right time!!!
Survivor is back on it's regular night people, who will be voted off tonight? :confused3
Glad that the cookies passed inspection, Andy. ;)
IDK who will go but I sure wouldn't miss Rocky. That guy is a loud mouthed jerk! :rolleyes1

Thats what I was implying Pete. Wow, I have been working 12 of the last 14 days and only lurked in the early morning before work. There was that problem with the boards going down every night at about 7pm PDT so have been concentrating on this summer's vacation. Looks like I came back at the right time.

Hello Everyone!!! Happy Thursday!
I don't have alot of time to chat tonight because of preparing for the big trip!
I did want to let you guys know I two, count 'em two drs. appts. today.
The first one for the ankle swelling. When I woke up today not only was my right ankle swollen but so was my right eye! Dr. is not too alarmed but needs to find out why I'm retaining fluid like this. The three big things to rule out are: Kidney problems, Congestive Heart Failure, and some Leg Vein problem. She took blood today, told me to go to Fl., watch my salt intake, drink a lot of water and we'll go further when I get back.
The other appt. was for my rosacea treatment. It REALLY hurt this time and now I look like a tomato!
Boy do I need this vacation!
First off :scared1: - make sure you follow dr's orders and follow up when you get home!:grouphug:
Secondly, you'll look beautiful in a day or two...just in time for your arrival in WDW.

You're so lucky you get to leave tomorrow. Do you make ity down in a day or do you split it for 2 days of driving?
I'm not sure if we are going to leave tomorrow evening or wait until Saturday morning to leave. It all depends on how I feel when I get home from work, and our "ST" still has to get her stuff together.
Either way, we will stop and get a motel for the night. We don't drive straight through anymore.

So DH gets an Opportunity to teach a class in PHX in June.. well DS#2 graduates on June 6th and DS#1 finishes finals on June 8.. and then they don;t have football or summer school until the 13th.. so i said .. we meet ya in PHX.. but there were no free airfares.. and the airfares that are left at $250+ each..  so PHX and sedona and grand canyon are out..
Then DS#2 said he wanted to do a paintball tour and Dh could drive him and 4 of his friends to various paintball places for 6 days..:confused3
So I had a great idea that DS#1 and I would go for StarWars weekend..while DH and DS#2 were doing the paintball thing..... sounds like a good idea to me.. but DH didn't think so..

Hey all... just missed the pirate run I see. :thumbsup2 Good. (Congrats to the winner!)
Now I need some serious thinkin' help here. I just got an intriguing e-mail.... it's part of the pirate: POTC event (http://www.register123.com/event/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x70301fcb4) pirate: at WDW that I'm doing in May. They want answers to these questions, with no explanation as to why they're asking. :confused3 I want to make my answers stand out, to be creative, to make those reading them laugh and marvel at my whit.
I know that Crash usually does the "Answer Me This" type of thing, but I'm hoping some of your answer will light a spark in my imagination. (My brain is so dead right now, it really needs a spark!) Either that, or I'll just pirate your answer and use them as my own. So, be creative and answer these 9 questions...

And, I got a info packet from DCL for my Med cruise, which thanks to the job situation working out, I still get to go. :cool1:

How about a "Perfect Ten"!
Very good! :thumbsup2 I just got started and was excited to lose four pounds. I may take out a billboard when/if I lose over 30! :yay:
I'm 1.2 pounds away from the 30 mark. I would like to hit that before vacation but I have been pretty much plateaued for 3 months so I am not sure if it will happen.
Congrats on your milestone.

Thanks for the tip Stace...any idea why the swelling occurs to begin with??
My legs will swell so much that it breaks the capillaries in the legs. Then it itches and burns, not to mention looks ugly. The doctor didn't really know why. Most likely a combination of all that walking and carrying too much weight around, not drinking enough water, and too much salt. And I'm sure the humidity does play a part in it.
But if I start with the Ibuprofen before I get swollen, then I don't get swollen!
On the Blabbermouth thread, we referred to it as "Old lady leg syndrome"....'cause a lot of us got it.

This is from the latest passporter email
Zip-a-Dee-Zip-Line: A Canopy Adventure
by Terry Dagdagan, PassPorter Guest Columnist
Ever wonder what it would be like to fly like Tinker Bell? Has it been your dream to swing through the jungle like Tarzan? If you answered yes to either or both of these questions, then I have just two words for you: Canopy Adventure.
In light of Disney Cruise Line's announcement that they will be returning to the West Coast in summer 2008, you may want to start compiling your wish list of shore excursions. One that I would highly recommend for Puerto Vallarta is the Canopy Adventure.
Now, this is not an excursion for the faint hearted. You'll be sliding along ropes strung high above the forest floor, "zipping" from tree to tree (just like in the TV commercials). However, if you ever had the urge to do something adventurous in your life, this just might fit the bill. The Canopy Adventure is open to those ten years and older. While you are required to be over four feet tall, you must also weigh less than 250 pounds and be in good physical condition.
As with most excursions, there are plenty of tour companies that you can book with if you are willing to do the research. We opted to book ours through Disney when we sailed on the Magic the first season it sailed to the Mexican Riviera.
Upon debarking from the ship you will meet up with a tour guide. He will lead the group down the pier, hand out life jackets and board everyone onto a motor boat. A five-minute trip through the harbor brings you to the tour company's office.
The journey continues as everyone loads up and buckles into the back of a Mercedes Unimog all-terrain truck. This 45-minute ride can be a bit bouncy at times as you leave Puerto Vallarta and snake your way up the mountain into the rain forest.
The Canopy Adventure location looks more like a jungle outpost, which helps to set the mood. Everyone is fitted into their equipment which consists of a harness and leather gloves. It won't be your most glamorous pose since you have to squat when putting on the harness. This allows the guide to fit the harness on your body to accommodate hanging from the zip lines.
Next, everyone's valuables are secured, as you are not permitted to carry anything with you. While we felt these items were safe, it is a good idea to only bring the bare necessities for this excursion. Even cameras are not suggested as you are wearing heavy leather gloves that seem like Mickey gloves when you are trying to manipulate a camera.
After a brief safety talk and demonstration on how to conduct yourself on the zip lines (and most importantly, how to stop at the end of each line) you will head off to the first platform. This one is reached by hiking up a short hill. Here you face the moment of truth--or insanity as a few of us were thinking. As I was being hooked onto the zip line, I couldn't help feeling like I Love Lucy's Ethel Mertz trying to figure out how Lucy (a.k.a. one of my traveling companions) had talked me into this one.
There are several well-trained guides who are interspersed between every four or five guests. They handle all of the hooks and lines for you, so you are always properly connected (you are connected to two safety lines at all timesj). When transitioning from a zip line to a platform or vice versa, you always have one safety line connected before switching the second line.
The first zip line is the test to see if a guest can handle the adventure. If the guides feel that you will not be able to complete the course, they will not allow you to go past the second platform. Despite looking more like a crazed Goofy than a graceful Tinker Bell, I was still permitted to continue the course.
By the second or third platform most of our group had gotten down the rhythm of how to stop. This technique involves gently pulling down on the zip line from behind to slow yourself when approaching the next platform.
The actual feeling you will have as you zip through the jungle is beyond words. It is one of the most exhilarating things I have ever done. The sheer thrill of feeling like you are flying is incredible.
One thing to note is that I imagined the platforms to be huge landings. Wrong! They were actually about two to three feet wide, as they circled around each tree. Being just a little bit terrified of heights, I was a little unnerved at first. As expected, I got used to them and only felt like quitting when I realized at one point that I had to walk across a hanging bridge that had no handrails (and was about two feet wide). Not to worry though, it does have a cable above it to hold your well-secured safety lines.
The heights of the platforms range up to 90 feet. Some were lower depending on the terrain. At one point there was a gorilla swing, basically a knotted rope, which landed you on solid ground before zipping on to the next platform. There are a total of eleven zip lines (each with its own unique name), one swing and two hanging bridges.
At the final platform you will be faced with one more daring feat. From about 30 feet off the ground you will need to rappel down. I was lucky enough to be chosen by the guide to go first (after one of the other guides demonstrated), despite the fact that I was in the middle of the group. Perhaps it was because I had mastered the skill so well that they wanted me to show the others how it was done. Or they desperately wanted to get me out of their trees and off of their platform before I hurt myself or others. I prefer to think it was the former.
Once everyone is on the ground, it is a short hike back to the outpost. Everyone is given a snack consisting of chips and a bottle of water. There are also a variety of beverages (yes, alcoholic too) available for purchase. They accept both Mexican pesos and American dollars, but will give you change in pesos. The tour company sells t-shirts at the outpost also.
Another added feature is that you may purchase a DVD of your adventure. While you are zipping on some of the lines, there are some parallel zip lines traversed by a cameraman capturing shots of each person in the group. This you will need to pay for and it will be mailed to you in approximately two to four weeks. Don't forget to tip the guides for the superb job they have done. Our guides were all very safety conscious, and did their very best to see that everyone had a great experience.
So why not save the shopping and sightseeing for the less adventurous. This excursion is sure to send a thrill up your spine and a tingle in your tummy. Just strap on your courage and start practicing your Goofy yell!
About the Author: Terry and her husband Gene live in Las Vegas with their two daughters. They were excited to be aboard the Disney Wonder for its first 10-night Southern Caribbean Cruise last September, and look forward to their next stay at the Disneyland Resort this summer.

They are clean too! My girlfriend called me today and she is moving to a smaller place and wants to store some of her "unused things" here. She says it is just a FEW boxes. Of course I told her OK. As my mind wandered back to the posts from last night.
My vice is scrapbooking--I have so much paper, albums and embelishments and yet another box was on my porch today when I got home from work! When we finished our basement, we put a mini kitchen area with cabinets, sink, wine cooler, microwave etc.... It is about 5 base cabinets long with upper cabinets also. This is where most my scrapbooking stuff is stored. I also have a large file cabinet full.

I'm in the process of doing that now. My SIL suggested getting a dumpster. DB and I rented the largest one and cleared the house of junky stuff. Our ds was mad and said that I wasn't following the trust (I'm the excutor) and that I threw out everything that that our dad worked for. It was a lot of stuff that you wouldn't want to try to sell at a garage sale! WE even swept the garage. Hey if my db didn't know what something was..would I? LOL!
Of course I know my dad wouldn't of had a problem with what we did. I will be glad when it is all over and the house is up for sale. I got the house, but dd and I decided that there were to many memories there, plus we like our neighborhood.
Will be glad when it is all over and I don't have to deal with issues from 50 years ago. (I'm only 46! LOL!)
Tina, apparently your DS wasn't involved in helping you all go through things. If that is the case they also do not have the right to complain about how it was done. She probably wouldn't have found it to amusing to have had the full dumpster delivered to her.:confused3 (sorry I do have a mean side)
So sorry you are dealing with this. I know it is not something any of us look forward to.:)

Good Morning everyone. I am so behind. I haven't been able to log in at work because our internet access was taken away until a few days ago and I was only able to check out the Dis a few times from home.
The lack of internet access is due unfortunate events at my place of employment. I work in the marketing department of a wholesale mortgage company that specializes in non-prime lending. We are privately owned and managed by a capital holdings company that owns other mortgage related companies. On March 15th, the holding company layed off almost 3,000 people, about 55% of the entire workforce. My company lost about 1,000 people and my department went from 37 to 12. Though I still have a job, they are moving us to another location, which will increase my drive by about 20 minutes, and that's if I leave the house by 7am. By 7:30 the traffic would be a total nightmare. The people who were laid off got 2 months severence and insurance coverage. I actually wish I had been let go so I would have 2 months pay while I looked for a new job. I hate that this is happening because this job has been pretty good to me - flexible hours, relatively good pay.
I know the jobs in this industry are market driven, but it was so hard watching everyone leave and the last two weeks, morale has been so low, that it's a struggle coming to work everyday.
Anyway, that's my story. I am glad I have the Dis and am now looking forward to this cruise more than ever.
Now to try to ketchup a bit.
Happy to be able to "talk" to you all again.
So sorry Karen.

Count me in on the merger then lay off battle with corporate America. I will find out tomorrow whether or not I have a job. The told us last friday that we are cutting by 23%. Everyone will be told tomorrow whether they still have a job or whether they have 60 days to find something else in the company. If we don't find another job, we will be given a severance depended upon our years of service.
I can't worry or stress over it. My performance reviews have always been good. I've been hand picked for every job change or promotion. At this point I rely on my faith and belief that after this all shakes down I will be where I'm supposed to be at this time in my life. If that means still employeed but with a larger work load. Or if that means unemployeed and looking for work, then that's what I'm supposed to do. I used to stress over it. But we buy someone else every year or two and face cuts each time. I'd be in a perpetual state of fear if I let it rule me.

Good evening everyone :wave2:
Caught up on 3 days worth.
Wow... just had a flashback to my first day of Kindergarten. All I can remember is standing in the driveway so my mom could take my picture with my Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox. :goodvibes
I loved Strawberry Shortcake!!! My Mom made me a bedspread, curtains and pillows for my room when I was 6 or 7.
I promise I won't be such a downer all the time....
I decided this morning that I am flying to RI for the funeral of the Coastie who died. I need to be there. It's only money. A lot of it, but it's only money.
I spoke to DH "Steve" for the first time this morning since it happened. I've had several conversations with "LCDR Sk8ingdad", the officer, not the man, during the last few days, but today is the first time I've talked to the man.
I need to go to be there with him. He is working so hard to make sure everything and everyone else is taken care of. He is responsible for the well-being of 76 people and one of them is not coming home. Non-military won't get this, but in a way, I represent all of the wives. I've never been one of those wives who try to wear my husband's rank on my own sleeve, I actually avoid it at all costs because it drives me nuts, but this time I need to be there for all the people who can't.
And oh yeah, I having a hour-long press event Tuesday morning with all our local mayors, state legislators and one of AK's senators...no stress at work. It's a great time to take a day or 2 off.
What are they going to do, fire me?
Thanks for listening (reading).

Thanks guys!! :grouphug: Let me tell you when Dr. said Heart Failure....I almost HAD Heart Failure!
Didn't you know...that's the new medically advanced non-invasive test for Congestive Heart Failure.
Step 1 - Tell patient he/she has heart failure
Step 2 - Wait for reaction
If patient keels over, they have tested positive for heart failure. If not, the test is negative.

Hi Lisa, My name is Mary and my family often stares at me in DISbelief as I completely ignore them while absorbed in my DISworld. Does that make me a DISaholic? NWA has a hub here in Detroit. They have had stinky customer service for the past 20 yrs! :lmao:
I'm trying Southwest in July. Spirit is ok but as of June 1st you have to pay for checked lugage! I had to pay $10 extra both way last month because they are only allowing 1 checked bag per person... until June. They said they want to offer lower fares. But the cost won't be lower if you have to pay for checked bags! Oh and no more comp beverages either.

Morning all - although I suppose it's getting close to afternoon for many of you.
I want to know who sent the germs over the DIS? My SPT woke up vomitting this morning. Very odd for him. I can count on 1 hand how many times in his life he has actually had something come up. He is rarely sick.
Actually, it's mostly likely due to the 'game' they played at youth group last night. Who could chug the drink fast enough. The drink consisted of milk, chocolate syrup, veggie baby food, hot sauce, banana....not sure what else?? Not sure I want to know. Sent him off to school anyway. Payback to his teacher who just happens to be one of the youth counselors!!!
M - you are in rare form this morning. Glad to see you are keeping your humor in all this.

:grouphug: Have a good trip and don't forget to relax.

Thanks guys!! :grouphug: Let me tell you when Dr. said Heart Failure....I almost HAD Heart Failure!
I fully understand!
At our WW meeting this week the question was asked about why we joined WW this time. My answer, without really thinking, was that I wanted to live long enough to see retirement for awhile.
I used to never to go to a doctor because I rarely got sick. Now I make regular visits at least once a year for a checkup and get a VERY complete physical every 5 years.

Watching Survivor last night, I made another interesting observation about the differences between men and women. They had a challenge where they were blindfolded.....and almost 100% of the time, the women were much better at getting the job done "blind" than the men were. Definitely shows how "visual" men are, while women tend to use more of their senses.
Not to say that men have no sense, of course! ;)

YOU CAN'T HAVE A CONFERENCE IF YOU ARE BY YOURSELF!!!
A conference room for 1 might be a thoughtful spot, but it is not a conference room.
Actually, one could if one had multiple personalities...
Just trying to give you something to keep you smiling while you wait for the airports to sort themselves out...
You'll make it.

Hi Mary Rose. My name is Lisa and I am a DIS Geek. Some say that this leads to DISaholicism....however others say it is caused by the same. Either way I am now DISillusional about how our vacations cannot be without Disney.
The only non-Disney related vacation we take now is an annual event each summer with our church in the moutains of NC. Next year we'll skip that for this TOAL though.

Hi Lisa, My name is Mary and my family often stares at me in DISbelief as I completely ignore them while absorbed in my DISworld. Does that make me a DISaholic? Apparently they are under the mistaken impression that I spend a DISproportionate amount of time here. I don't know what they are talking about? (Is that DIS denial?)
 My DW was just reading the riot act last night for this very same thing (DISproportionate amount of time here). She would call it DISappropriate! :sad2:
