If I had not dropped out I would have graduated in 1973 and that was after being held back a year in the 5th grade. I will be a strong 53 years old on this cruise and believe you are only as old as you allow yourself to feel. There are times I swear I am only 5 again. I hate those moments. Much prefer when I feel mature but still young enough to enjoy life. You guys are really making me feel old :scared1: . Lois
My DH graduated in 1968. He'll be 57 in June, and still plays league softball on Friday and Sunday. You're only as old as you feel. Coming up on 50 doesn't bother me in the least.

So...I was writing my last post at about 7:35 this morning when I realized something...DS6's teacher conference is at 8 am today!!!! We made it in time, but I'm not exactly ready for life right now. I'm killing 20 minutes before the kids have the be back at school for the first bell. Then I need to come home, get a workout in, take a shower etc. I love my flexible job! My mothly board meeting is tonight, so I'm working late anyway. Then we are Scouting for Food at Cubs tonight (collecting for local food pantry).
The do sell Everclear in Mexico...not that I've made a few trips down there to get some :rolleyes1
OH I am way too old for Everclear. :sad2: Funny thing, it is (or at least was - not sure now) illegal in Ohio. I went to college in suburban West Virginia, so we would drive 45 minutes to WV & walk into any ol' grocery store to get it.
Illegal in one state...right next to the Gatorade in another!
[SIZE="3"][B]Green Widow Martini Recipe
(I like this one--love Midori and even the name is kinda piratey! pirate:)
Gin and melon liqueur splashed with champagne.
2½ oz. Gin
1 oz. Midori
½ oz. Fresh sour mix
1 splash Champagne
Combine gin, liqueur and sour mix in mixing glass. Add ice and shake. Strain into a Swank Martini Glass and splash with champagne.
I vote for this one.
I'm usually a beer/wine gal, but I like the fru-fru drinks on vacation!

We used to drink this stuff all the time in HS. It was legal in PA but it was behind the counter and the person buying it had to sign for it.
I think it's illegal in all states in the US.
That little drink too much.....go blind thing.....:rolleyes1
I'd love to be able to get some again.

I missed ALL of you soooooo much!!!
Had a FABU time at WDW but the crowds were outta hand (yeah well what did I expect) :lmao:
We had a great time at our DIS meet. I see my Pal Andy was kind enough to not only act as photographer, but to promptly post the pics also!! Thanks Andy!
Peter, Johnna, Jack, & Justine couldn't have been more hospitable, warm and kind to all of us. I think our number was around 33 and they went above and beyond and blew us all away!! Thanks very much to you all!
It was really, really great to meet everyone and put a real face and voice to the names. (Don't ask them about my voice though, Barbra Streisand remember?) :lmao:
A special thumbs up :thumbsup2 to all the DIS spouses and DIS STs, SPTs, and SKs for jumping right in and joining the fun!!
I believe I can speak for everyone when I say that we ALL WISH YOU ALL COULD HAVE BEEN THERE TOO!!!!  :grouphug:
One more special shout out from the O'Bs to Mark, Laura & STs for showing us a really AWESOME time on Test Track and Mission Space!! We had a great afternoon guys!! Thanks very much! And I tell you, having friends in high places saved us a 160 minute wait time!!! (160 min wait, have you ever?)
So then, how many pages do I need to read back then, a million? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Glad you had a great time MR! Missed you too! :flower3:
One interesting tidbit from our trip, and a first for us: We got pulled over for speeding on I-95 in Virginia!!!! Speeding, who us?? naaaaah, can't be ;)
Now you know we have that new teenager driver and our insurance rates just went through the roof already OUCH!. Well we left WDW at around 5:20 am after we gassed up and we arrived home in NJ at 10:05 pm last night, so I guess we were in VA around 4pm. After that many hrs on the road, it's all a blur. Anyway a Trooper pulled in front of us and motioned for us to pull over and he pulled over the guy in front of him too. At first we didn't think he meant us, we were travelling at 75 mph just 5 mph above the speed limit. But we decided we better pull over anyway. The Trooper then lectures us about travelling so fast in a 60 mph zone OOPS! Sorry Officer, really. He ran John's license and the man's license is clean as a whistle. One red light ticket from 1985 in all his 28 years driving. Then, believe it or not, the Trooper let us off with a warning, and told us if we didn't pull over when he motioned, it would have been a $2500 fine in addition to the moving violation!!! So thank goodness we will still be able to pay our insurance!! That's always the worst part of a ticket anyway!!
So that's what the Easter Bunny bought the O'Bs!!! HOORAY!
Oh wow! So glad you got off with a warning! My girlfriends & I went to VA Beach for our senior trip & we got pulled over by a PO for going thru a stop sign. We had a cooler on the front seat, but luckily it only had OJ in it since we had already finished all the DJ! The PO made my GF get out of the car & walk to the stop sign so he could show it to her, but he also let her off with a warning. Gotta love the VA police! :thumbsup2

Glad you had fun too!
MaryRose - I am glad you got home safe.
I-95 on Saturdays and Sundays are notorious for having state police at every crossover in the middle that separates North & South. I see them everytime I get on 95S at Falmouth,VA. I am glad he didn't give you a ticket otherwise I would have had to make a phone call!!
Another bad spot is 64E heading towards the beach there is always a state trooper at mile marker 221. ALWAYS!!
KAREN
We'll be driving by their next Sunday morning. I'll give you a beep & a wave! :wave2:
Okay so I guess by now you're getting the picture that this was a "dry" family vacation. Well all week we were seeing people order drinks with the light up ice cube in them and our DD really wanted one. So on Thurs. night we went for a late dinner at Chef Mickey's. This was our last opportunity to get a drink with that light up cube so I ordered a Blue Tini (martini). I left home at 3:30 the Friday before, I ran by butt off, I fought crowds, I forgot my blender, I nursed my DS through a Stomach Virus.......I needed a Adult Libation and I needed it bad! Six days into my vacation I finally get to kick back, have a nice dinner and one, count 'em, one drink.........Here it comes, it's blue, it's glowing, it's gorgeous and it's calling my name.......MR, drink me, you deserve it......Now it's glowing and it attracts the attention of all the manic kids around us.......the kids are excited, my DD is excited, I am EXCITED!!!!........The SPT at the table next to us says excitedly to his Mom, "Mom, look at that, what is it????" The Mom says "Son, That's the Devil's Juice, the Devil's Juice, you don't want to know about that"
DEVIL'S JUICE!!! Okay, so now I'm an Alcoholic too!!!! Couldn't enjoy that drink then if my life depended on it!!!
I was not supposed to drink on this vacation. End of Story.
People are outrageous though aren't they???
I was tempted to accidently on purpose dump that Devil Juice in the Righteous Woman's lap........WHOOPS!!! :lmao:
She was not a nice person & you had no reason to feel guilty MR! You had a crazy week & deserved it!
Hey MR ... That could be the name for one of our TOAL Drinks.....;)
"I'll have a Devil's Juice, please"
Love it! From now on I shall refer to all liquor as DJ!
Nah...that would have been a waste of a perfectly good drink!
I think I may have had to be really evil and sit there with two fingers above my head like devil horns. Or ask her why she would even eat in an establishment that served alcohol.
I know, that's really childish and mean......shame on me...and on Easter, too!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I suppose.
I don't blame you at all Stace! She is entitled to her opinion, but it's not always appropriate to voice it and especially in such a public nasty & hurtful manner. Poor MR!
Welcome Home Andy!!!! Glad you guys made it home safe and sound!
Oh and wait, I forgot to say that we almost bought Fireworks like we always do in South Carolina, but the car was way too overpacked!! Thanks Goodness for Overpacking!!!!
You know if I had my blender.....I could have offered the Trooper some Devil's Juice :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I do wish I had a nice Krispy Kreme to offer the nice Trooper though........Cops like Donuts.......much in the way we like Cake!
Actually what they really like is the free coffee, but you didn't hear that from me! ;)
Geez I thought I would have an easy time catching up today, but no such luck. Not caught up yet, but I'll have to check back later! :wave2:

Everclear is legal most everywhere...the 190 proof version is illegal in many states but the 151 proof isn't as restricted. Note that while on our EB Caribbean cruise I brought back sveral bottles of Absinthe for friends and had no problems. I found a tidbit about various states:
Everclear IS legal to buy in New Jersey, and can be found in most major liquor stores. It is ILLEGAL in the following states: Pennsylvania, Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Note that WV may be questionalble as some folks have reported being able to legally buy it there. Also note that this has to do with buying in those states, I'm fairly certain the state police won't be checking your bags if you bring it into the state!
"There are legitimate uses for highly pure alcohols, beyond simple fortification (the practice of increasing a liquor or wine's potency by mixing in a high-proof alcohol). Everclear, like other highly refined alcohols, can be used in the manufacture of some liqueurs, and medicinal tinctures. By steeping lemon rind in pure alcohol for several days, straining and mixing with 2-3 parts syrup solution one can produce Limoncello. A similar method can be used with mint leaves to produce Crème de menthe.
Warning: Can be lethal when used as shots or substituted for water in Jello shooters. "

uh huh, and how many brain cells were lost for the betterment of science?
Drinking improves brain capacity.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular culling of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

OH MY! We ended up sleeping until 12:10 or so. After lunch I took him to the pharmacy to get his meds, then WM to pick up new sneakers, ice cream, and the Star Wars 2 lego game he has been saving up for. As a treat for everything he dealt with last night & will for the next few days I told him he didn't have to pay me back for it...but can't say anything to DD about that. Made it home in time to pick up DD at the bus stop. She has been right next to him ever since. She wanted to hear all about it. They are now watching his EB movie...Happy Feet. It looks cute so far. Unfortunantly, I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open. Last night was mentally exhausting. When I close my eyes I just see DS screaming when they were sticking his hand with the needle to numb it. :guilty: All of my plans for today are shot. Oh well, I am just greatful that he didn't break anything. It could have been a lot worse...even though he probably wouldn't agree with that. He is looking forward to showing everyone his cast tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to handle changing the dressings tonight. It wont be pretty.

When he gets back to school he's going to be the BMOC! He'll be taking off the dressings just to impress/gross out (same thing you know ;)) all his friends! He'll regale them with his ER stories about them slicing open his hand to get the stuff out etc (leaving out, of course, the part about kicking & screaming) :)

You're just getting started! There will probably be many more little mishaps to come. Sad thing is, we (Moms & Dads) never get used to it and it's miserably hard every time.
There now, doesn't that make you feel better??

Oh yes! He knows that & has been told that he can't say anything about us buying him the game & not making him pay for it. Of course, I am ready to tell her that if she wants to have a stick go into her hand, spend hours waiting to be seen, then have a needle jammed in & out of her hand several times followed by having a small knife used to cut open her hand to remove the stick and other splinters, then have other instruments poked around in the hole in her hand....she could get a game too. ;)

Lisa I don't know of anything more stressful and agonizing than seeing your child in pain. What an ordeal for you! I'm sure you will do a fine job of changing the dressings on his hand. It's amazing what we parents are able to muster up the strength to do for our babies! Sounds like you need a little TLC too. Hope you can rest up a little for the rest of the day. Take care!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! What a night. :( I didn't get to bed until 1:30...and it wasn't because I was DISing. I was at the ER with DS from 6:50 until 1:10 am. We went to a birthday party yesterday afternoon & the kids were outside playing on the trampoline. He is use to them & knows the rules. Well, he was getting down because I told them we were going home and his foot slipped on the stepstool making him fall headfirst to the ground. He of course put his hands out to protect himself and his right hand took the impact. He came in crying and the palm of his hand was bleeding from what looked like a puncture. The kids showed the dad where he had fallen and he found a pine tree twig that probably caused it...since he also had a couple of splinters in the palm of his hand as well. I rushed home to drop off DD and have the nurse next door look at it to see if a trip to urgent care was justified or overreacting on my part. She said that it looked like it was starting to swell from something being inside the skin so off we went...only to find it closed early for Easter. A quick call to the ped on call had us going to the ER to get it checked out...where we waited a very long time. It was an hour inbetween everything...having his name called for triage & registration, 80 minutes before being called back to sit on a bed in the hallway to wait another 70 minutes to have the doctor check him out, then an xray, then meds, then move to a room. It was after midnight before the doctor came in to treat it. It took longer for the meds to numb his hand...the poor kid had the needle poked in his hand many times to get that done. :( :( :( Good thing though because they had to hold him down just because he saw what the doctor was going to use to cut his hand open to get the stick out. I worked on keeping his eyes covered the rest of the time and he was in good spirits soon after that was done. The doctor was really good with him so that helped a lot. We hadn't had dinner so I told him that he could have anything he wanted when we left. After picking up a milkshake at McD's we finally got home.
DD just went to school...not at all happy about the fact that her brother is still in bed sleeping. I am going to try to go back to sleep too before he wakes up & needs more painkillers. He has a splint since they have to treat it as a sprain due to where it happened. He is concerned about not being able to write or play his gameboy. ;) I'll check in some time today.
Oh Lisa, your poor baby boy!!! I hope he's better really soon!!
My DS also had a trampoline incident involving a backward somersault, his hand and a trip to the ER, so John and I feel yours and William's pain Pal!

Glad he is gooding better.
Actually, I'm in NJ they're in ATL. I've been doing this same job for 15+ years. Most of them are brand new MBAs with no idea on FDA regulations.
I don't look good in prison orange, hence the reason why I don't listen to them.
I worked at the county jail for 6 months- 16 yrs ago. I was displaced from my job because of a budget short fall. They had a position they coould put me into instead of laying me off. The worst 6 months of my life. I worked from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM in a not so nice part of Detroit. To be honest some of the deputy sheriff's were scarier than some of the inmates! :scared1:

FIRST of all....you are NOT fat. Secondly, you weren't gone for a month...which is how long it would take for any significant weight gain to show.
I had an old lady boss like that one time. Finally, after she retired, she and Jay ended up having lunch in the same establishment and Jay got to give her an earful. She had actually asked him for his opinion on a few of the "issues" he addressed....he wouldn't have said anything if she hadn't brought it up.

Thank you Stace, your my Bestest Pal for saying that, especially since I want to kill myself after what Ms. Boss said today. But if I'm honest with myself (ugh) I was off my diet in the weeks leading up to my vacation and my work clothes felt snug this morning. But still, I was raised that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. This is the same boss who asked me why my nose is turning purple....so do you sense a pattern here? She hated it when I lost the 35 pounds and is secretly thrilled that I put some back on. So I am a great dieter, but an awful maintainer...just like most of the world. So what, I like a piece of cake once in a while, so shoot me.....

I was out in the atrium with DS so that he could lay down on one of the couches & get some air mid way thru. Okie Dokey, so the rest of the Devil Juice story is this. It was a 9 pm Chef Mickey Reservation which has to be close to the last ressie and we were seated next to this other family that was seated just ahead of us. During the dinner we (and they) were visited by Chef Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. In fact Mickey and Donald swung by twice. We caught two singing/napkin swinging Celebrate Mickey Mouse songs. We (and they) had the complete Chef Mickey experience. Although maybe mine experience was enhanced by the Devil's Juice, but I digress. At the end of the meal Ms. Devil's Juice called our mutual waiter over and asks to see the Character Coordinator". The waiter returns momentarily with the Character Coordinator. Ms. D'sJ then says "I am dead serious, I need the first and last name of Mickey Mouse" I almost shot my Blue Tini across the table in a spit take! She goes on to say that she didn't get enough interaction with Mickey. Specifically she said "I go to Seaworld to see Shamu, and I come to Chef Mickey's to see Mickey Mouse" The Character Coordinator asked if Ms. D'sJ was happy with the other characters. Ms. D'sJ said "I don't care about these other chumps, I'm here to see Mickey Mouse" Again Blue Tini shot through my nose! The CC offered individual time right away with MM, but Ms. D'sJ said no. That was basically the end of it so I don't really know what the woman wanted.
You know when you enter Chef Mickey's and they take your picture. Well when they delivered the pic to Ms. D'sJ she asked them if they could remove Minnie Mouse from the Pic! She really just wanted Mickey I guess!
Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth!!

Saw the recipe for the "Devil's Juice" non-alcoholic drink. No thanks....tomato juice, cranberry juice and Tobasco Sauce in the same glass?!?!?!?! NO THANK YOU!!!!
I nominate the Midori Margarita as our officia drink!
It's green (DISgreen with enough Midori http://mazeguy.net/happy/yummy.gif) AND it requires a blender so a few blender toating folks will be happy! http://mazeguy.net/happy/thumbsup.gif
MIDORI MARGARITA
ingredients:
• 1 oz. Midori
• 1 oz. sweet-and-sour mix
• 1 oz. tequila
Cantaloupe ball
Watermelon ball
Mixing instructions:
Mix all ingredients (except melon balls) with ice in a shaker or blender. Pour into a chilled cocktail glass. The rim of the glass should be moistened with lemon juice and rolled in salt. Garnish with melon balls.
hmmmmmm I think I may have to perfect the recipe and try it out a few (dozen) times!
Oh no. I could not do it! I got sick drinking Melon Balls (Midori & OJ) when I was in my late teens & I can not stand the smell of Midori to this day!
I have 2 days of ketchup...but here's where I've been:
My house is almost clean and organized without piles of random stuff in every corner for the first time since before we left for vacation 3 weeks ago. Laundry is done. The parent team wooped the Mite C's in the hockey game/party (I was the only Mom who played...). The team signed and gave DS the banner than hung in the rink all this year as his going away gift. Eggs were dyed. Easter bunny visited. Easter feast was prepared and eaten. We didn't get around to the mud on our deck yet because something else distracted us...

Oh Lisa so sorry! Nothing worse than being in the ER for hours with a hurt child. :guilty:
FEDEX just came to my door and dropped my package for DVC Animal Kingdom Villas. I am going to take the plunge!!!

Um sounds like a good story. Do we have to wait till the deck 7 Blender parties to hear it?

Hello All,
Just checking in to say hello. I can't seem to get all this painting done. I hate painting.:rolleyes1 With all that is going on around here, the TOAL is going by fast for me.:rotfl2:
Did I mention that I hate painting? That's all I have been doing and packing.
I am driving with Chuck this Friday ( 13th ) to Chicago unload a truck then fly home on Sunday.
Still have painting to do............when will it end? I am sore and tired and YES need to mention how I hate to paint.:rolleyes1
Hi Tina! Nice to see you pop in!
KEWL!
Should you be committed? Only if 200+ of your closest friends on the TOAL are joining you in that padded room.
My thoughts exactly!

Just had to sign back in real quick. Just arrived home a few minutes ago from picking Angelina up from work. She got out a little late, but was carrying a B-a-B box with her. Little did I know, she had made me an "early" birthday present at work tonight, I have attached a photo below. You should have seen me grinning from ear to ear when I opened the box.

Oh Lisa, your poor baby boy!!! I hope he's better really soon!!
My DS also had a trampoline incident involving a backward somersault, his hand and a trip to the ER, so John and I feel yours and William's pain Pal!
My DS had a trampoline incident a couple of years ago too. He threw a rock of the neighbor's trampoline 2 days before Christmas & as he puts it, "I forgot to let go of the rock"! :sad2: He ended up breaking his elbow & he had to wear a splint through Christmas until the Ortho opened up Monday morning & he could get a cast.

When I think about it, why would she feel compelled to say that to me. Does anyone ever need to point out that we put on a few pounds? NO, Never...we already know it (hence me joining online WW last night)
I did manage my own dig in return though. I said "you know, since we're all so fat, maybe we can look into WW at Work" she hightailed it out of my cubicle after that. The nerve!
Pefect comeback! :thumbsup2 My lovely DSIL said to me the other day..."Gee Diane I thought you were losing weight? You were doing so good, what happened?" How was I suppose to respond? "Gee I didn't like the way I looked when I was a little thinner so I decided to gain it right back?" :confused3

Paraphrase Churchill. "Yes, but I can go on a diet. You, on the other hand, will always be a shriveled old prune."
When I was in grade school, I was a little chubby (a battle I've fought all my life, I'm afraid) and there was this one girl who was constantly picking on me. My Dad taught me that response, with a little twist.
One day, she called me "fatty" and I said "Well, I may be fat, but I can always lose weight. You'll be ugly forever".
Thank you, Daddy!

My only regret is that I wasn't there. SNAP.
OK, the comebacks are coming to me now.
When she said that to you...you should have said yes, I did have a fantastic vacation! What's your excuse? :thumbsup2

It's not really one of my better stories.
I was in Las Vegas with friends (it was actually a mini-meet of sorts) and we were at the Jello-shot bar at the MGM Grand....right near the door to the walkway from MGM to New York, New York.
Our group was having their shots, and there were these three guys from Ireland. We were all talking and being friendly. My group finished their shots, and they all started heading for the MGM casino. The three Irish guys put their arms around me, and started walking me toward the exit. I was trying to get away, and trying to holler at my group...but I also didn't want to make too big a fuss, because I thought they were just kidding around. KWIM?
Well, they weren't letting me go, and kept heading me for the doors. Finally, one of the young guys who was in my group turned around looking for me......so he and a couple of other guys came after me.
Turned out, they had to struggle a bit to get the Irish guys to let go of me!! :scared: I hadn't felt too threatened at first, because, afterall, if they were going to nab a woman, wouldn't they have chosen a much younger one???:confused3

AK is my favorite park, with EPCOT being a close second. I just think it is the most beautiful park
Us too!! I think it's becasue we really, really don't do crowds - and those parks don't feel quite so crowded. AK gets crowded, but you can't see them.
My mother found these 3 dimensional "ball mazes" that you can put gift cards in. Once the card goes in, you have to get the ball to the end of the maze (opposite side of card from where you start) to get it out (or use a sledgehammer). She thought that was cool.
Where?? My boys would be all over those!
Paula surprised everyone and had brought this cake with her. Actually it is called a pullaway cake and these were cupcakes made to look like a Pirate Cake. It was also Very Good tasting as well!!!

For his bday...he didn't request much....he did want a power wheels jeep..but he wasn't too insistent on it. However, he told our good friend that he really really wanted a roller coaster. She told him that she didn't think she could deliver that kind of gift to him. So, he said that was ok...he'd settle for an airplane!!! Well, I managed to help DS take a bath and redo his splint so that it passed his approval. LOL! It is hard to find shirts that will work with a splint. I can't imagine a full arm cast.
Try TWO casts!
When I was 14 my best friend Mike and I were really into model rockets. (hmmm could that be foreshadowing of my future profession? :scratchin why yes, I think it was!) Anyway, he wasn't thinking (as most teens are not want to do) and placed five D12 engines on a hot (summer) metal trash can lid! :sad2: For those who don't know, D12 engines were (at the time) the most powerful amateur engines you could buy without an explosives license! Well the heat from the metal lid ignited a couple of the engines and Mike put up his hands to protect his face.
1st and 2nd degree burns covering 90% of his hands and forearms. :sad1: They bandaged his arms after debraiding the damaged skin. Then they put casts on both hands and forearms up to his elbows! Yeah, he was not pleased at having to have his dad give him a shower! It was worse when dad was out of town on business and his mom had to do it! :lmao: When they went out on the town once I got to "babysit" him. It was fun giving him a glass of Pepsi with no straw...until he sucker punched me! Boy that cast HURT! :rotfl:

I could start a ten page dialogue about parents who don't stay home with their sick kids, but I won't.
this was my problem today!! i swear...i could go on and on and on!!! i told the one mom not to bring her 2...yes i said 2, sick kids back tomorrow if they had even the slightest fever...and she rolled her eyes at me. i told her i was NOT allowed due to state rules...not allowed to have sick kids with fevers in my daycare. i told her that i hoped i wasn't going to be forced to shut down at the end of the week cuz all the kids were sick. She looked at me...rolled her eyes...and then said i couldn't shut down...she and her husb have awfully busy weeks at work! OK....like i don't have a life...and a family in the house...that i need to keep healthy! happy birthday my dear children!! hope my kids enjoy the bugs and germs that everyone brought them for their special day!!! UGH! BLAH!! sorry! i'm done ranting now! thanks for bearing with me!
Easy...give all the incoming kids a Lysol bath! Seriously, why would they think that a kid with a fever is okay for daycare? When we were in Vegas and used the Kid's Quest facility, they absolutely DO NOT permit any sick kids! Perhaps you can just print out the relevant section of state/county code? Better yet, tell them that you're not permitted to administer meds to sick kids--that requires a licensed nurse or doctor...many counties have such rules.

well, i felt really bad today for my youngest...it was his day after all...and my house was loaded with kids. we had 14 in here today...and my poor little guy just got lost in the shuffle. tomorrow will be the same way with my dd's bday. it really stinks doing daycare sometimes...ok...it literally STINKS doing daycare most days!! LOL! (sorry...couldn't resist!) but seriously...today...my kid had a bday...and i was dealing with 4 other kids who were sick! parents decided my house was a great place for their kids with fevers! ugh!! sorry...off on a tangent cuz we had a rotten day!
Shannon - I can soooo relate with selfish people dropping their kids off sick. I only have a problem with one of my parents. GET THIS - this year she dropped her DD off one day when she had Coxsackie Virus. She broke out in "hives" (her words, not mine) the day before and she claims the Dr told her (over the phone) it was an allergic reaction to meds. Two days later the 18 month old got coxsackie, full blown, and was sick with it for a week & 1/2. Oh, and she took her DD to the Dr that afternoon and never informed me that it was coxsackie and not an allergic reaction. THe mom of the little boy (they all work together) is the one that informed me of it, which made me look like a fool. Last week I made her come pick her DD up because she was hacking non stop for 35 minutes. Ummm, I have an infant in the house :headache: .
The thing that gets me is all my Moms are teachers and they get 15 personal days a year. But, for some reason this lady will not use them to stay home with her kids when they're sick :confused3 . I'm not the only one that has a problem with her. She loads the older ones up with motrin and sends them to school and the other all teachers know it. She just thinks everyone's stupid.
OK, off my soap box  - Is it summer yet? :rotfl:
:cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: - Sending some more cyber cake to your DD & DS

Hi all! We arrived back from vacation Saturday evening. Spent Sunday (Easter) at MIL's, and yesterday getting things back in order.
It's been so long since I've posted.....I feel lost again. But I wanted to tell you all about our Magical time at Disney.
I'm so sorry we weren't able to make it to the DIS mini-meet. Hope you all had a great time. We were primarily down there for a wedding. So we had to plan around that and visiting with family, etc.
We went to Epcot on Tuesday, April 3rd. What a great day! Upon exiting our second ride of the day (Living with the Land), a CM asked us how many were in our party, and then handed us each a Dream Fastpass. Boy, did that make our day go smooth! We were spoiled after this. On Wednesday, April 4th, we went to Magic Kingdom. Even though it was an extremely busy day, I never felt the crowds were unmanagable. We took Fastpasses for each of the "big" attractions, and POC was the first ride we hit. We never waited in line longer than 30 min. all day, and managed to do everything we wanted to. In the late afternoon, we were headed over to redeem our Space Mountain FP, and a CM approached us and handed each of us a one-time use FP good for any ride. I'm telling you....the pixie dust was just flowing!
Our weather was perfect! Just an overall great trip. Hope I didn't miss too much around here. Hope everyone is well.
Happy Birthday to everyone who celebrated over the past couple of weeks!

Hi Mark! Great to meet both of you.
MR, where do you work? and is she the owner of the business? My friend in NJ, had such a miserable boss, (she knew she was going thru a really difficult time) starting reprimanding and tearing her down in front of all the other coworkers. End result, she had a breakdown in front of everyone. Out on medical leave for 2 months and many meds later finally returned to work, but got a transfer out of that department into another one. Now that's what I call a real b****.
She's doing fine now but this ***** knew the way to pull her chain and purposely devastated her. I was so proud of her going back and facing her.

They probably had or have bosses that refuse to let them stay home....
Two weeks before my surgery in February, i got so sick i was wheezing. (It went right for the lungs.) I would have stayed home but my boss had threatened me that i would be fired unless my work was completely finished before i left for surgery leave...

Andy he is so cute! I bought a BABW monkey 2 weeks ago! His name is Jack and he's in his pirate outfit too. I also got him a Detroit Tigers uniform, which he wore last week for opening day. DD got a bunny. Our nearest BABW is 25 miles away, so we don't go very often. DD has a monkey too, but she is playing hide and seek right now! She has a Tinkerbelle out fit.
They sure do put a smile on your face. Jack says, "Arrrrrr to your monkey!"

She loads the older ones up with motrin and sends them to school and the other all teachers know it. She just thinks everyone's stupid.
I can understand if kid is really sick... But I'm not one of those parents who will keep my kid home at the slightest sniffle....
My DH has nieces who are allowed to stay home at the drop of anything...I feel sorry for their bosses later in life.....
I've always taught my dd to suck it up and go to school. (i draw the line at puking of course) Many jobs do not give you sick time now-a-days and since I'm not independently wealthy i go to work.
When DD was little she would throw a slight fever at each tooth. (It was a phase. Fever, drool, rash, tooth. The daycare she was at would call me to come get her the second her temp went over 99. Of course then i could give them permission to give her tylenol but i still had to leave work. by the time, i'd get there, my dd was happy, playing, no fever. DOH!!!!!
and to think i lost that job because of all the times daycare made me pick her up for nothing.....
My dd also has sensitive skin so does get freaky rashes (Moreso when she was younger....They would usually go right away in a day or so. She gets like an eczema thing on her inner elbow and knees. Once the dance teacher made me take her home and not to come back without a dr's note because the teacher thought she had ringworm... I knew this was not the case but got the note anyway and shoved said note in her face....
Never got bothered again....
Just a working parents point of view....

OK, my vent is over, for now...................
Andy, where I work that is par for the course. That's why I am busting my butt to get things cleared off my desk for next week. I know that when I walk in on 4/23 my office will look like a cyclone went thru it. Yup, three days is all it takes.
The only thing that ever gets done when I'm away is payroll - otherwise it is all waiting for me on my return.

Welcome home Deanna! So glad to hear that Mickey was busy sprinkling your family with pixiedust: for your trip! No, you didn't miss much...same color t-s****s as before for embark/debark, no room assignments and the weather is still crappy. ;)

At least the Irish guys had good taste... maybe not good intent, but good taste!

I feel for you Kathy, sometimes I wonder if it's worth going away on vacation, YEP it surely is worth it!!!
What ticked me off the most was, the two meter books that SHOULD have been read last week each have over 150 curb meters in each book. It's only lunchtime and my knees are already killing me. Oh well, I only have 3 years and 10 days to go until I can retire with my full pension........................not that I'm counting mind you......................;)

Good morning everyone.
It's been an adventure the last week or so. Things have settled down from the layoffs and we've moved into a new building. While I don't like the drive, 20 minutes w/o traffic if I leave my house at 7am, I can see Disneyland and Angels Stadium from the north-facing windows to the right of me. Of course my boss, knowing I'm a Disney fan put me by the west facing windows.
Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend.

Hey folks....I'm back from DL (boo hoo) and trying to ketchup while doing actual work....
Had a great trip. Got to have a mini meet with grandma X3 (Chris) and her DGKs. Had a lovely afternoon with them, especially Rockin' Space Mountain. My son loved having other kids around. Poor guy, he's usually stuck with just mom.
I'll be poking along here trying to see what went on this weekend.

Wow...hers, stop! whatever you're doiong, and go outside, the
:sunny: is shining!
it seem like there's alot of inter-acting going on or some are
just unlucky running into the cranks. :rotfl:
:flower3: to o'bmv. however, it still sounded like a wonderful wdw
trip. maybe, they were wishing for some of your devil's juice? :rolleyes1
maybe you should have shared? [ i think accidentally spilling would been
a waste...so sez the lil'devil in my pirate: ]. my guess, the lady @ wdw
was using that as an excuse to stopped her nagging kids? while your
boss was probably hoping you took her with you? maybe they were at
the "rocking-d bar" causing a bunny hop? ......p.s., if you rever decide to
share, plez let us guys know first. * they're are the ones that usually starts
taking their clothes off...after one tote. & "i", already seen too many
shocking things in my life, already. Good for you! not wasting any
of the "good stuff"....but if you ever run into her again, have her "look"
into your glass before letting it flies. [:dumbo: ].
social skills 101...its just as easy to give those around you~ a reason to
like you than not. those never learning the basics...grow into personality
disorders. they are miserable people and in order to feel good about
themselves, they hurt others. unfortunatley, those that lives life
well, are usually their targets. (esp. when they find a position to do so)
i must commend you on your professional "limit setting"...redirecting is
the way to blocked out their annoyances and move on.
* i have felt others asinine responses , & it is easy to tell the difference.
however, i am most "defensive" when it comes to my children...& i came
from a family of 7 boys {3 sisters/spoilt...just to show it based on reality,
my oldest had a blue convertible T-bird...(high school)...while i only had
a 59' chevy el canio= }....warning! can & will explode!
yep, that's me> :simba: , barely trained. 2004 cruise,i asked 2 fellas to
make a lane so i could leave the farewell show. what they did, were to
locked arms as a barrier...feeling ill, i was in no mood for games, so
i burst thru with ease..while one gave me the evil eye, my response was
to the point..bring it on, i 've no problem vomiting all over you! :snooty:

They probably had or have bosses that refuse to let them stay home....
No we have a pretty open policy on staying at home if you are sick around here. They just put up hand sanitizers all over the building trying to reduce the spread of germs b/c someone is on a 'cut costs by cutting medical expenses' kick in corporate finance.
This particular guy does it all the time. He's come to meetings with eyes watering, nose running, yuck. He prides himself on being at work every day. He doesn't get he's the cause of the rest of us being out sick.
