Oh I hope not. To me it will just sound like all the grown up on the Charlie Brown cartoons if they do.

Okay, Andrew . . so if fly tipping is illegal dumping of your garbage, what is tipping? (some day we'll visit England and be totally up to snuff . . .LOL . . but probably going down under first - my sister is doing a semester abroad in Australia - yeah!)
We do not 'tip' as a rule here bar Taxis, far less than USA, Tipping is more likley to be dumping rubbish ( garbage) on a tip.
But it can also be used as to tip a person.

It's quite possible that they will . . . I am going to be on the Magic in a few weeks (March 24) and am going to look around to see if I can think of a place where something could be hidden the morning I get off and perhaps not discovered by the cleaning crew . . . part of the fun of it is certainly wondering if I can get away with leaving a note behind on the ship and having people find it once they board to bring the Magic back from the Med. I certainly wouldn't try it with anything valuable, maybe just a note or a postcard . . .
I just thought of something. I know there are poeple that do geo caching (sp?). Where little trinkets are hidden and you hunt them down using GPS coordinates. I think they are even some things in DL and WDW. Anyway, I may search out some of those sites to get ideas of what/where they hide things. That might help us in planning.

So that's who Janie is - as the Cowardly Lion used to say (cue the bad imitation) - Why didn't you say so!

Andrew.. we were on the same cruise this past summer.. what dining rotation did you have??
I am not sure who our Head Waiter even was.. Our cruise 4 yrs ago was so much nicer with the dining crew.. I cant think of her name but I know she left to go home and " have babies" as she told us..and than we had ARVAN and CYNTHIA.. they catered so much to us as compared to this past cruise..
They really messed up the seating arrangement.. we had 2 rooms and they had my daughter and sister sitting away from us.. granted they were still with DIS people but I would have liked her closer to me..

I come from a very loud Mexican family (I'm 1/2 Mexican from my dad's side) and on Holidays everyone is yelling across the room, dancing, etc....a lot like her family in the movie. My dh's family is very calm & quiet.
I could not breath during the scene in the movie when it flashed from her loud family to sitting quietly with his parents. I'm sure no one in the theatre could understand why my dh and I were laughing so hard at that.....It was just such a perfect representation of our lives.....In fact, that's exactly what most of our home videos look like.... from one extreme, to the other....
Hey Deanna - full bloodied Mexican here - did you ever watch A Walk in the Clouds with Keannu Reeves prior to or just after Crash? That movie just cracked me up :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:
Imagine me sitting there in the theatre with DH (who also comes from a 'quiet' family) and I'm :rotfl: :rotfl: with laughter - those people in the audience must of thought I was
I ended up having to buy it on DVD and still :rotfl: :lmao: when I catch it!

Fluff Ketchup time!
DS8's team lost their first tourny game this morning. It was a bummer, but DS had a great game. Thay play again in a few hours.
on our last sailin' we had a couple volunteers who would burn CDs or DVDs for DIS friends. Maybe we'll organize the same here. If not then I'll burn some for folks as I will have my notebook. It's just that I know I won't have tons of time free to volunteer for a group of this size and my notebook has a slow burner/processor. It can take 40-50 minutes to burn a DVD. So I have real capacity limits.
Oh, good idea. I don't want to impose on anyone. If I have to fork over cash to Shutters, I will. I just need to calculate the 'break even' amount for having Shutters burn CD vs. buying memory cards I probably won't need again. ...too bad I am math illiterate...

I know it sounds sick, but I look forward to Fridays because it means that I can devote the evening to getting things done around the house that I normally put off all week because I'm just too tired!! (or lazy)
:thumbsup2
And as for rewatching "the fall", I think maybe I'll keep this episode on the DVR just so I can watch it over and over again...It just NEVER gets old!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No.I haven't seen that. Is it a comedy? I thought it was a drama....I'll have to rent it.
You know exactly what I mean about the family gatherings, right? I love it though. And my husband has grown to love it also. So much activity, chaos....whatever you want to call it. But his sister can not tolerate my family. She need peace and quiet....
Well its supposed to be a drama but the family interaction scenes had me laughing my pants off - DH didn't get it - and just looked at me like I was
Jist of the story: girl from wine-making family goes to city, gets prego's, cons a traveling salesperson - total stranger BTW - (Keannu) to pose as hubby who comes home to meet 'new wife's' family and then is supposed to leave here there. Sumbucket - would fit nicely in this forum!
Anthony Quinn starred in it too.

That is weird! I can do it, but I don't love it.
All the journalism majors at my college had to take this course called Precision Language. It was 10 weeks of grammar, punctuation, and sentence diagraming. The professor's first name was Drusilla and she was about 127 years old.

I love this type of dog - and I for one think they are beautiful. One time I tried to describe them to the family and all I heard from them was - "What the heck is a Wigman?"
I especially love their eyes. What is the color range on this type of dog?
Are they family friendly too? :)
Weimaraners (E's at the ends, A's in the middle - I'd had my first Weim for 2 years before I could remember how to spell it!) are born with sky blue eyes. The color fades and they turn to yellow (they go through a "green" phase in the middle). Their eyes continue to darken as they age to a very dark amber. A very small percentage (about 5%) will keep a very pale blue eye for their lifetimes. I've never had one like that and I've had Weims for 20 years.
They are a family friendly dog - but are large and energetic. I don't typically recommend puppies for families with small children (under 5) neither the kid nor the puppy has any self control - and it can be a bad mix. I usually send families with small kids to our rescue organizaitons for an older dog (read: one with some sense!). This is a breed where either you own them or they own you. And if they own you - you have a potentially serious problem. It's a thinking person's dog. They will completely engage you emotionally, intellectually, and physically. Definitely not a breed for everybody.
If you're interested in learning more about the breed wander over to the FAQ on our (really, really out of date) website: www.graenit.com (http://www.graenit.com)
With everyone talking about their poochies, and showing pics, I'd like to share what I have as the wallpaper on my laptop. This pic is of our beloved Midnight who is no longer with us, but he was one sweet and loveable doggie. We called him our buddy buddy. In this pic, he laid on the floor with this cup on his head for about 30 minutes without moving. I miss my buddy buddy. :sad1:
He'll be waiting for you. The joy went out of dogs for me for a while when we lost Benton (my Avatar). But, now his great-grandson, Taiko, is here, and while he doesn't fill the space that Ben left - he's making a new one - and touching me in ways only his great-grandpa did.
I think dogs belong to us for different reasons. Sometimes it's becasue we feed them. Sometimes (usually the case in rescue) it's because they are grateful. Sometimes it's becasue we boss them about. But very, very occassionally, one comes along who gives you their soul. One who connects to us in a way few others do.
I think there is a place in our hearts where "Dog" goes. And a place in our hearts where "Midnight" or "Benton" or any of the others who really touch us go. Another dog can fill the "Dog" space, but that other space remains empty when we loose them, and the loss is that much greater.
Goodness, look how morose I've become. Certainly not the correct mood for a Friday afternoon! :)
Here's a pic of Angelina's cat Stefani, she was named after singer Gwen Stefani. She THINKS she is the queen of the house!!! :rotfl2:
Haven't you figured it out? Dogs have Masters. Cats have STAFF!
I think that it is great that the kids are exposed to music at such a young age. :) None of our elementary schools have a music program with instruments.
That's really too bad. It's helps them with so much more than just music. Both music and Instruments are required classes for our kids through 8th grade.
You win. Gracie doesn't do that. But she does like to make all her fuzzy blankets nude. She pulls all that stuff. same with tennis balls.
Love the picture they are beautiful. The lighter white blanket. I need one of those. Gracie loves that type of fabric. Haven't been able to find one. She use to have a toy that was made of that type of fleece and she wore it down to about 3" piece that she carried around all the time.
Best source for these kinds of blankets are your local dog show. PM me your location, and I'll look up the ones in your area.
All of our dog grooming places are called "SPAS".
I own my own pet sitting business and alot of the times I have to take them to get groomed.
I call it "Fluffed and Buffed!.
They come home looking beautiful. We even have one company that come to the house and grooms your pet.
Me, I'll take the naked dog. We can wash and dry three in 45 minutes! And we'll probably have to do that this weekend. They're beginning to stink up the place! :sad2:
Oh, I'll give you one even better . . . I had an electrical engineering professor for a 2nd year networking class. The man was older than God and he WROTE the textbook. However, his lectures were taken exactly from the textbook with little explanation of the math it took to get from step to another. On his first test, the class average was an ELEVEN (11)!!! I think it was only that high b/c we had 2 students that scored in the 90's . . they later became his grad student assistants .. .LOL I was thankful to pass!!:cool1::cool1:
This is the story I tell my boys when the struggle with their Algebra . . . and try to do everything in the head rather than doing it on paper . . .
Glad I'm not in college any more!
Are all Engineering schools like this? I experienced the same thing. You know, if the highest score in the class is 60 - there's either something wrong with the test, or something wrong with the instruction. In the end I never finished my ChemE. Got tired of getting a lower score, just cause I was a girl. :headache:
Speaking of SQUARES....
Here's our first game for the weekend....
HOW MANY SQUARES ARE THERE in the image BELOW?
The answer shall be multiquoted sometime this evening near midnite or available in CHAT tonight.

I don't use a high setting...just enough for 10x13s if we want them. We can usually fit 800 on a 1GB card. We end up with 1000s of pictures to go thru...not all of them are printable but you never know when you will catch that perfect shot. :goodvibes
I shoot on the high setting but not RAW. My XTi can shoot in High + RAW but I really don't need that detail all the time. It helps to carry three 1GB, a 2GB and a few 526MB cards. I also usually take my laptop if I need to download.

I usually bought 528MB cards, but before this last trip I bought a 1GB. Then when I got home, after transferring to the computer, I back them up on a CD for the safe deposit box. Well, the 1GB cards don't fit on a CD. Guess I could start burning to DVD, but the computer that has that isn't the one we hold the pictures on. Oh sure Lisa...SCARE up into going to chat!
Midnight was a Lab/Shepherd mix.
Andy what a cutie pie Midnight was. So sorry! I can tell you miss her very much! We once had a lab/shepard mix. Her name was Ranulf (Rani for short) & she was a doll! I got her from a shelter as a watch dog because I was alone while DH worked the midnight shift. They laughed at me at the shelter & said she'd be a good companion, but no watch dog. They were right she was so loving and such great company, but the first time we took her camping & a stranger approached me in the dark....OH MY you should of heard her bark! The shepard in her really came out & I thought she was going to pull right out of her leash! I loved her even more after that!!!
Have you heard of these mixed breed dogs like the labradoodle (half poodle, half lab)....yorkipoo (half poodle, half yorkie)....puggle (half pug, half beagle)?
You could get a bullpoo...Well, on second thought, that sounds a lot like a Bradgelina- just a pile of shirt!
I have a cockerpoo...half cockerspaniel & half poodle. Her name is Rosie & she's a real cutie, but very temperamental. I'll have to post her pic one of these days.
Okay....serious question here.....
There's all the talk about updating or doing something to our computers because of Daylight Saving....but, in Arizona, we don't observe DST. Our time never changes. So does that mean I don't have to do anything to my computer?
I want to move to Arizona...all this springing ahead & falling back drives me crazy. I hate when it gets dark too early. I'd rather have it darker in the morning. Can't they send the kids to school a little later? They need their sleep anyway! Geez! :headache:
Now that would be a challenge. To leave something for your future self on a future cruise. Hmm. Where would be a good place?
:wizard:
We talked about hiding something in our stateroom for our next cruise, but we then we think....nah it might be a long time before we cruise DCL again & even if we do, it probably won't be the same room. We're always wrong about that! But I also think that they clean so darn well (not complaining mind you) that it would never be there when we get back.

Very good. Now try this test:
History
Describe the history of the Papacy from its origins to the present day, concentrating especially, but not exclusively, on its social, political, economic, religious and philosophical impact on Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Be brief, concise and specific.
Medicine
You have been provided with a razor blade, a piece of gauze, and a bottle of scotch. Remove your appendix. Do not suture until your work has been inspected. You have fifteen minutes.
Public Speaking
2500 riot-crazed escaped maximum-security prisoners are storming the classroom. Calm them. You may use any ancient language except Latin or Greek.
Biology
Create test-tube life. Then estimate the differences in subsequent human culture if this form of life had developed 500 million years earlier, with special attention to its probable effect on the English Parliamentary System. Prove your thesis.
Music
Write a piano concerto. Orchestrate and perform it with flute and drum. You will find a piano under your seat.
Psychology
Based on your knowledge of their works, evaluate the emotional stability, degree of adjustment, and repressed frustrations of each of the following:
Alexander of Aphrodisis
Rameses II
Hammuarabi.
Support your evaluation with quotations from each man's work, making appropriate references. It is not necessary to translate.
Sociology

So there's what, 6 pieces to get for the Trivial Persuit pie?
Let's see, if we do our own game, it will first have to be a :cake: instead of a pie.
The area of questions can be:
POTC quotes
Math
Literature
History and Geography
DCL facts
DIS Board abbreviations, quotes and memorable moments

Speaking of SQUARES....
Here's our first game for the weekend....
HOW MANY SQUARES ARE THERE in the image BELOW?
http://www.teach-nology.com/worksheets/critical_thinking/shapes/square.gif
The answer shall be multiquoted sometime this evening near midnite or available in CHAT tonight.
Correct. It's just a series of squares. No counting involved. Same applied for the rectangle problem except you have to care about multiple dimensions. (1x3 and 3x1 are not the same). The inner squares would be where people tripped up, but that's just a problem inside a problem and you extract that out and count separately.
Okay JperiodspaceRperiod...you do what you have to do but all that X2 stuff looks like gibberish to me! I stuck with counting & I also come up with 40.

Behind a picture, in a seat? under a vase?
Under a Resturant head server-manager as they do not move? ( well my last one moved on tip night)

I can't tackle them all, so I'll just nominate DISers.. Divide and conquer people!
Very good. Now try this test:
History
Describe the history of the Papacy from its origins to the present day, concentrating especially, but not exclusively, on its social, political, economic, religious and philosophical impact on Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Be brief, concise and specific.
Lisa - she's Catholic.
Medicine
You have been provided with a razor blade, a piece of gauze, and a bottle of scotch. Remove your appendix. Do not suture until your work has been inspected. You have fifteen minutes.
DarthRugby - after inspection Peter can needlepoint a nice rendition of the DCL logo on his belly.
Public Speaking
2500 riot-crazed escaped maximum-security prisoners are storming the classroom. Calm them. You may use any ancient language except Latin or Greek.
Mary - if her mad PR skills don't work, she can always resort to her ninja skills
Biology
Create test-tube life. Then estimate the differences in subsequent human culture if this form of life had developed 500 million years earlier, with special attention to its probable effect on the English Parliamentary System. Prove your thesis.
Andrew - he's probably the only one who knows much about the English Parliamentary system
Music
Write a piano concerto. Orchestrate and perform it with flute and drum. You will find a piano under your seat.
Esteri - and then she can write a review of the concert
Todd - these guys all probably have the same personality complexes as capt. Jack.
Sociology
Estimate the sociological problems which might accompany the end of the world. Construct an experiment to test your theory.
This one is mine!
72 hour simultaneous, unannounced shut down of the DIS, DCL and Google
Engineering
The disassembled parts of a high-powered rifle have been placed on your desk. You will also find an instruction manual, printed in Swahili. In 10 minutes, a hungry bengal tiger will be admitted to the room. Take whatever action you feel necessary. Be prepared to justify your decision.
DH isn't an engineer, but would still defer this one to him.
Economics
Develop a realistic plan for refinancing the national debt. Trace the possible effects of your plan in the following areas:
Cubism
the Donatist Controversy
the Wave Theory of Light
Outline a method for preventing these effects. Criticize this method from all possible points of view. Point out the deficiencies in your point of view, as demonstrated in your answer to the last question.
J.R. (math geek)
Epistemology
Take a position for or against truth. Prove the validity of your stand.
Shelley - helpful hint BIP: when you see 'truth', substitute 'black t-*****'
Physics
Explain the nature of matter. Include in your answer an evaluation of the impact of the development of mathematics on science.
Gotta give physics to the rocket scientist, Jonesing. If you can't describe matter, just destroy it
Philosophy
Sketch the development of human thought. Estimate its significance. Compare with the development of any other kind of thought.
I bet Crash has a graphic for this.
General Knowledge
Describe in detail. Be objective and specific.

This is what my DH does - takes lots and lots of pics. Then he spends some time in the evening downloading everything to the laptop and puts them into day specific folders.
The 3 of us will have at least 4 cameras (3 stills and a DVD camcorder) so that's going to be a lot of images & video. I was debating on whether to bring DW's new 17" laptop (with the Lightscibe DVD burner) to pull the photos off the various chips but then I saw the Sony DVDirect drive

DH just HAD to have his picture take with Kim Possible at MGM last year.
Dirty Old Man.
What is it with that? We once had a tablemate that had the hots for Belle - not the human Belle - the character Belle - I thought he was kidding until his wife showed me a picture of him and Belle which he ran ahead of his DD to take a solo picture with. We thought it was soooo cute - that I had to give him a pillowcase that Belle had signed as a gag gift. ;)

THe problem with this one is that the war really didn't last 100 years - of course I'm no expert but didn't it end up lasting something like 112-113 years total? when you took out the 'truce'? Any History Majors out there? I don't count as I still haven't declared my major!!!!1 :rolleyes1

Gotta share, I had a fantastic lunch today.
A co-worker and I were taken out by a manager in one of the offices we support. Our budget is so non-existent that working lunches are a thing of the past, so it was a nice treat. I can't remember the last time I've actually left the building for lunch.
He took us to the swanky part of town and we sat overlooking the country club's golf course. The food was good, but the service was lacking. The company was great. I'm so stuffed still. No dinner for me tonight.

Be very very careful...DW has been harping for a poodle forever! In fact, JoJo looks just like her old pooch Bridget. We had to put Winifred (Winnie the Pooh) down last week so we're down to the 2 miniature Dachshunds. She's also wanted a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel but I think she'd get rid of everything (including me and the baby) for a silver poodle! :rotfl:
I think that we are safe; Colorado is a long way from Baltimore. Besides, when we go away JoJo is not put in a kennel. We have a babysiter who is 6'2" 300lbs+ and he loves JoJo. :goodvibes

Sociology
Estimate the sociological problems which might accompany the end of the world. Construct an experiment to test your theory.
Engineering
The disassembled parts of a high-powered rifle have been placed on your desk. You will also find an instruction manual, printed in Swahili. In 10 minutes, a hungry bengal tiger will be admitted to the room. Take whatever action you feel necessary. Be prepared to justify your decision.
Epistemology
Take a position for or against truth. Prove the validity of your stand.
Physics
Explain the nature of matter. Include in your answer an evaluation of the impact of the development of mathematics on science.
Philosophy
Sketch the development of human thought. Estimate its significance. Compare with the development of any other kind of thought.
General Knowledge
Describe in detail. Be objective and specific.

How cold was the room? I have never had this problem even going from inside my house to snow outside. Even at the Grand Canyon in subzero weather my camera did fine from the warm car to the outside.
Your problem appears to be the reverse. I would say to try and 'warm" the camera up before going out. Maybe wrap it in a blanket or keep it stored in a warmer area.

Aww, so beautiful!
The 3 of us will have at least 4 cameras (3 stills and a DVD camcorder) so that's going to be a lot of images & video. I was debating on whether to bring DW's new 17" laptop (with the Lightscibe DVD burner) to pull the photos off the various chips but then I saw the Sony DVDirect drive
http://www.sonyburners.com/dvdirect/product.php?ID=1633442038
http://www.learningcenter.sony.us/images/article/Computers/DiscBurners/DVDirect/mc3_UE3.jpg
The nice thing about the MC3 drive is that it will take multiple sources for video and photos (camcorder, DV, digital memory chips) and burn them to DVD....no computer required! :thumbsup2

I'm on a mission - at our convention (which is in 10 weeks) we are having a Cinderella Masquarade Ball event and we are supposed to dress for the occassion, so I'm looking for appropratie wear that does not cost an arm and a leg. So far I've found 3 or 4 things that might work and now I've moved on to ebay to see what's on offer over there.

I love Cheesecake!!!:cake: My favorite is the one I make, with cherries or strawberries on the top. Chocolate with white cream frosting(like my sister Reeniny18 makes) and really any other kind. I am not picky! Oh and the chocolate lava cake! Yummy!!!
Do you think we can have a cake eating contest?

Get your mind out of the gutter, girlfriend!
Um, my sentiments exactly. I have a feeling I'm going to feel like the village idiot amongst these people and up until now I really thought I was quite intelligent! I'm forgetting so much nowadays...
I hate when that happens! It usually means all the pictures and/or large graphics (ahem, crash is usually the culprit! LOL) are still loading and there I am scrolling and reading and it keeps skipping back up to the top! One of these days I'm going to end up slapping my monitor, even though it's totally not it's fault. LOL
I was totally thinking the same thing as I read this thread, before reading your post. I was trying to visualize like 500+ people walking around looking under cushions, chairs, stair carpet, etc. LOL
Aww, so beautiful!
I am SO going to buy one of these! As long as it doesn't cost too much, which it probably does. *sigh* But I really need one of these!
We can form a club since I feel the same way...I have no clue what half of the stuff on here is all about too!!..lol:confused3

About $250.00 and I want one too.
I figured if I said He I might be wrong.. guess I was going to be right all along!
Hmm, I don't know about $250 but I'm thinking about it... sure would make life easier off my camcorder and my digi camera..
Did everyone else know that Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose was in the hospital? I didn't even know and now I'm reading she's been released from the hospital? I'm so glad she's okay... and ofcourse all the reports are that the devoted father was there by her side and is exhausted now ofcourse. That's my man.

Area 51 is in Nevada. Roswell is just Roswell.
My family owned the ranch that is one of the sites of the "UFO Landing" for 85 years. We are actually in the "International UFO Museum". Yes, believe it ir not, there really is a museum for it.
Might not want to tell your DS but at least in Roswell, it would be very easy to see the site in Roswell. It is about 45 minutes North of town.
It is a huge involved explanation but common knowledge about what supposedly happened at Roswell is not possible.
It is very interesting situation though.
