Well... it's time again for another round of the ...

7 QUESTIONS GAME....

#1 What was / will be / for LUNCH today?

#2 What would you like for LUNCH tomorrow?

#3 What is the BIGGEST chore on your "to do" list currently pending?

#4 If you could drop what you're currently doing tomorrow and take a day off for doing something else... totally free to do what-ever your heart desires.... what would you do for fun?

#5 If you could have Palo's make you something off the menu... anything at all... what would it be?

#6 What ONE Disney character would you like to spend a day with (or be) in a REAL story sestting ... IE ... you could accompany or be Winnie the Pooh in a real 100 Acre Wood for a day... so what one character would you want to be for a day... and what setting for that characters' storyline?

#7 For your cabin on this sailing... which of these "modifications" would you choose if you HAD to pick one? a) A 70" LCD 1080p HD TV with HD DVD + HD DVD selections. b) a triple sized bathtub with steam, jacuzzi jets, tanning lights and aroma theraphy devices. c) a giant MIRROR on the ceiling and the motorized rotating round bed with vibration baby! Oh yeah... also included are the fog generator, mystery ball with multicolored lights and mood music sound system... and a unified remote control for the whole array! d) A narrow private veranda that runs around the entire permimeter of the ship. All the other cabins on your level have one way mirrored glass... so you can't peer in though.

Hi Everyone,
Wow I've been preoccupied for the past couple of days and I've got over 40 pages to ketchup. The reason is - well, I wanted to get a buddy/playmate for Annie- the German Shepherd I rescued on Valentine's Day - and GSD rescue came through again. Sunday we brought home Max a 3 month old puppy. I probably need my head fixed to get a puppy with everything else going on. But - it was love at first sight.

I've got to run as DGS just got home from Kindergarten but I wanted to share. I hope I downloaded the pictures okay.
I'll check in later - hope all well with everyone & hugs, prayers and PD to those in need.

He's adorable! We waited less than two weeks from the time we got Buddie to when we got Cinder. Once DH realized that our older dog Shadow was not interested in playing with a puppy we started pushing me to get the second dog. I tried to avoid it but he even got my MIL involved by showing her various adds and then she took it upon herself to start calling them to find out about the dogs. We ended up getting Cinder on Dec. 23rd in a rain-storm that must of dropped 5 or 6 inches of rain on us. Had to drive 30 miles each way and then had a scared, howling beagle puppy for a couple of days, but she eventually calmed down and now we could't live without her. Buddie is also a beagle - as were our other two dogs. DH has a real thing for them.

Well... it's time again for another round of the ...

7 QUESTIONS GAME....

#1 What was / will be / for LUNCH today? Tomato, Basil and Buffalo Mozzerella Panini and Ceasar salad

#2 What would you like for LUNCH tomorrow? D'Bos Hot Wings in Memphis....been having a craving lately

#3 What is the BIGGEST chore on your "to do" list currently pending? Landscape the front and back yard....heck I'd be happy just replacing the lawn

#4 If you could drop what you're currently doing tomorrow and take a day off for doing something else... totally free to do what-ever your heart desires.... what would you do for fun? Head down to Disneyland

#5 If you could have Palo's make you something off the menu... anything at all... what would it be? Since I've never been, I supposed just about anything. But that table side Prime Rib Crash posted a pic of looked good.

#6 What ONE Disney character would you like to spend a day with (or be) in a REAL story sestting ... IE ... you could accompany or be Winnie the Pooh in a real 100 Acre Wood for a day... so what one character would you want to be for a day... and what setting for that characters' storyline? Captain Jack Sparrow on the Black Pearl.....duh!

Jacuzzi tub....almost went with the verandah until I read about the mirrored glass

Hey Capt Crash you still on (and other photo compulsives) ? I have a serious question here - I am seriously considering adding on a wide angle lens on my camera - I have the ones from my conventional camera but I have this burning itch (and no - its not a disease! - wait maybe compulsive shopping is??? :confused3 ) Anyway, how much do you really use a wide angle on your camera?

I've been debating it and since we're leaving in a few months - got excited when I saw the Disney Channel ad on Barcelona. We'll be staying in the Gothic section for 2 days before we sail and the thought of missing some of the cathedreal down there saddens me.

So the questions is - wide angle or macro (macro as in I can take close up pictures for my "Yea Honey - I'm gonna starting posting on eBay as soon as I fork out all this $ for this expensive macro lens." :lmao: )

Oh well - just had to post - I keep getting signed off in addition to running late. Anyone else got any opinions?

#2 What would you like for LUNCH tomorrow? Probably rubber chicken at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon

#3 What is the BIGGEST chore on your "to do" list currently pending?Lots of nit-picky things to get the house ready to rent.

#4 If you could drop what you're currently doing tomorrow and take a day off for doing something else... totally free to do what-ever your heart desires.... what would you do for fun? Go sailing

#5 If you could have Palo's make you something off the menu... anything at all... what would it be? Seafood Risotto with a side of filet mignon. Yes, I know that is 2 entrees, but I ate the whole thing...

#6 What ONE Disney character would you like to spend a day with (or be) in a REAL story sestting ... IE ... you could accompany or be Winnie the Pooh in a real 100 Acre Wood for a day... so what one character would you want to be for a day... and what setting for that characters' storyline?
Tink! Not the part where she is in the cage, or dying

Oh well - just had to post - I keep getting signed off in addition to running late. Anyone else got any opinions?

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos10d/images/10d-specs-001.jpg

In my "kit" I have a 20-35 wide angle zoom, a 28-135 macro zoom with Image Stabilization (IS), and a 70-300 IS. All are Canon lenses, of course with top drawer UV filters. I find that what you use most will depend on what you shoot. You don't really need a MACRO lense unless you are really particular about close up shots of very small objects or details. And as for which lens I really use most - it has got to the the medium telephoto 28-135. It also is probably the lowest rated of my lenses - although all are well regarded and test well.

If I were you I would simply spend a little time in the camera store trying the lense and try to develope a sense of perspective gained (or lost) between lenses... that is... if you're using a DSLR. On our cruise... I would be willing to LOAN you the ocassional use of my 20-35. I can only use one lense at a time and I only lose 8mm of focal range from the 28-135.

The thing to remember though with DSLRs is the 1.6 conversion factor. So the 20-35 gives an effective 32mm perspective and the 28 only yields a 44.8mm perspective... which is barely wider than a "normal" 50mm perspective... so the 20 gives me a medium wide angle capability. Which is why that extra 8mm is so meaningful.

AND... why do I like the wide angle? Because I do like taking landscapes and shooting in tight spaces... and you NEED the wide angle to get everything in the frame in small spaces sometimes.

Edited in .... I just noticed you're in California. If you're anywhere near or in Ventura county - and if you use Canon DSLRs - I would be happy to loan you the use of a wide angle lens for a couple weeks so you could try it out. Or even the 28-135... which costs twice what the 20-35 is worth.

That's o.k. It seems to be running nice and smooth now. Figures. It was really hard to time the posts at the time. I hung for about 2 minutes, thinking I'd come in after, and I was 5 before it.

Hazel just called, still no word. Angelina was told the interview would take about an hour, Hazel said she went in at 2:45, it's now 4:00 and Angelina is still in the office with the manager. Looks like we'll be hitting Wendy's for dinner tonight..........................;) ;) ;)

Mmmmmmmm Wendy's!

I totally forgot to give my "review" of Edward Scissorhands!!!

It was...INTERESTING...It wasn't bad...It was just one of those things where I went in expecting one thing and got another. But I did enjoy it, and the end was GREAT!!!

If you expect to see it and don't want it to be spoiled, then ignore the stuff below. Otherwise, you'll get the story below...

I went in expecting it to be like a musical, with acting and singing, etc. But it was more of a dance production. NO speaking parts, NO vocal music...Just an instrumental soundtrack type thing with a dance interpretation of the original story. It was enjoyable, just "different" from what I expected. And at the end (related to the scene in the movie where the daughter is out dacing in the "snow" from Edward's ice carving) they blow out REAL snow into the audience!!! It was pretty cool!!!

Good afternoon everyone!!!
I'm here, at work, against my will...I would SO much rather be outside at the zoo or at the park, or anywhere but INSIDE!!!! :sad2:

I went out for lunch, so I got a little fresh air. But I can see now why the thread is beginning to slow a bit...Only the SCHLUMPS like me who HAVE to be inside are actually here DISing instead of playing outside...:rotfl:

DW & DS went to the zoo today. He had a blast feeding the giraffes (his favorite animal since that was his first stuffed toy as an infant). I feel ya though about being stuck inside.

OK, the girls just called as they were getting in the car. I found out that Angelina had to take a test and it was 100 questions long, that's why she was in there for over an hour. Angelina said some of the questions were kind of funny, now she has to wait until the manager looks over her answers to see if she gets called back for another interview.

When she applied at Limitied Too back in November, she was hired in the spot, looks like B-a-B really goes the distance with their hiring practices.

OK, I've got to run and meet the girls for dinner at Wendy's.......

Well...

#6 ... this is a tough one cuz there are so many fun Disney characters with nice moments... so I'll just go with what FIRST comes to mind....

Karen,

There was a posting some time ago that made reference to the "IDEA" that a teaspoon or NUTMEG would bring on a psychotropic effect similar to that of LSD... however, the downside is there would be an immediate and prolonged dry hacking "heaving" bad enough to wake the whole neighborhood.

DOn't expect me to FIND the original posting of this... <chuckles>;)

Crash it was I that brought up the nutmeg. I had a pharmacolgy professor that lectured about the LSD qualities of nutmeg back in the early 80's. Now looking at Wikipedia I see that it is more closely related to ecstasy than LSD. Still a hallucinogen. Ecstasy was'nt even around back in the 80's. Anyway here is some info from Wikipedia on nutmeg.

In low doses, nutmeg produces no noticeable physiological or neurological response. Large doses of 30 g or more are dangerous, potentially inducing convulsions, palpitations, nausea, eventual dehydration, and generalized body pain. In amounts of 5-20 g it is a mild to medium hallucinogen, producing visual distortions and a mild euphoria. A test was carried out on the substance which showed that, when ingested in large amounts, nutmeg takes on a similar chemical make-up to MDMA (ecstasy). However, use of nutmeg as a recreational drug is unpopular due to its unpleasant taste and its side effects, including dizziness, flushes, dry mouth, accelerated heartbeat, temporary constipation, difficulty in urination, nausea, and panic. A user will not experience a peak until approximately six hours after ingestion, and effects can linger for up to three days afterwards. Any unpleasant side-effects would persist throughout this period.

#1 What was / will be / for LUNCH today? I had nothing of value. Some stale popcorn. Going out to a dinner meeting tonight so I will make up for that bad lunch.

#2 What would you like for LUNCH tomorrow? I know this sounds bad but any type of fast food would be good. I haven't had anything fast food in over 6 months.

#3 What is the BIGGEST chore on your "to do" list currently pending? To paint the spindles on my stairs and over look. Takes way to long so I find other chores to do first.

#4 If you could drop what you're currently doing tomorrow and take a day off for doing something else... totally free to do what-ever your heart desires.... what would you do for fun?An all day motorcycle ride with Mark.

#5 If you could have Palo's make you something off the menu... anything at all... what would it be? I have never eaten dinner at Palo's so I can't answer this one

#6 What ONE Disney character would you like to spend a day with (or be) in a REAL story sestting ... IE ... you could accompany or be Winnie the Pooh in a real 100 Acre Wood for a day... so what one character would you want to be for a day... and what setting for that characters' storyline?
It would have to be Capt'n Jack and it would probably need to be in Tortuga

#7 For your cabin on this sailing... which of these "modifications" would you choose if you HAD to pick one? a) A 70" LCD 1080p HD TV with HD DVD + HD DVD selections. b) a triple sized bathtub with steam, jacuzzi jets, tanning lights and aroma theraphy devices. c) a giant MIRROR on the ceiling and the motorized rotating round bed with vibration baby!

This would be a good question for Mark too. He is in Mexico and probably won't be on line so if I get a chance I will try to ask him for you. What kind of camera do you have?

Rolling Stone 10 Greatest Albums of all time:

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles
2. Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys
3. Revolver, The Beatles
4. Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan
5. Rubber Soul, The Beatles
6. What's Going On, Marvin Gaye
7. Exile on Main Street, The Rolling Stones
8. London Calling, The Clash
9. Blonde on Blonde, Bob Dylan
10. The Beatles ("The White Album"), The Beatles

Discuss . . .

I definitely have trouble with number 8 and a little with 9. There has to be an Eric Clapton band (any of them) in the list.

I agree with all of the Beatles albums and Pet Sounds. They were the key focal points in the change in music for our lifetime. We all know by heart the songs of the Beatles and they resonate in our souls. :goodvibes

:goodvibes

My soul is younger...don't question The Clash! ;)

Good point...where is Clapton??? I'l be right back...

. . . obviously the editorial staff of Rolling Stone magazine averages age 60 or greater, I'd say! ..... Not to have something by U2 (I'd go with Achtung Baby or How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb) or Nirvana's Nevermind . . . even Green Day's American Idiot

I just turned 55yo and agree with most of the list :hippie: but I also agree that U2 should have an album in the list (or very close to it) but I totally disagree with either Nirvana or Green Day being in the Top 10 list. Yes on a list but further down the number scale. It can be debated how far down on that list.

BUT -- if the criterion for being a great album is that it changed music . . . the Beatles did it, but I would pick only Sgt. Pepper or Revolver -- probably it (the real change) started with Revolver and personally I'd go with that one-- and that would be it for them on the list. I mean, I love the Beatles, but I think 4 albums considered to have "changed" music is too much. On the other hand, I think that you could argue that Nevermind (Nirvana) and American Idiot (Green Day) did. . .

Well... it's time again for another round of the ...

7 QUESTIONS GAME....

#1 What was / will be / for LUNCH today?

A WW 2 point Lemon Bar with a Diet Coke

#2 What would you like for LUNCH tomorrow?

Two dozen Hooters Hot Wings! (breaded & drums only)

#3 What is the BIGGEST chore on your "to do" list currently pending?

Clean and straighten the basement. It is my Disney room and I have not set it up since our move here. :sad2:

#4 If you could drop what you're currently doing tomorrow and take a day off for doing something else... totally free to do what-ever your heart desires.... what would you do for fun?

WDW Magic Kingdom Park! :cheer2:

#5 If you could have Palo's make you something off the menu... anything at all... what would it be?

Extra Prime Buffalo steak with brussel sprouts :goodvibes

#6 What ONE Disney character would you like to spend a day with (or be) in a REAL story sestting ... IE ... you could accompany or be Winnie the Pooh in a real 100 Acre Wood for a day... so what one character would you want to be for a day... and what setting for that characters' storyline?

Mickey Mouse just walking around the Magic Kingdom with me.

All the other cabins on your level have one way mirrored glass... so you can't peer in though.

a triple sized bathtub with steam, jacuzzi jets and aroma therapy devices.

[COLOR="darkorange"]This would be a good question for Mark too. He is in Mexico and probably won't be on line so if I get a chance I will try to ask him for you. What kind of camera do you have?

Hi FGM - hope your feeling better - I have a Canon EOS 30D - I too love to take landscape pictures so I knew I should have gotten one earlier - but I was using my conventional lenses - I just get tired of carrying my camera bag (its a bacipack) around and thought of taking just a medium and a wide this trip - (which I just now I'll end up regretting :sad2: ) but oh well - regulations existed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -

I would rarely use a wide angle but would find lots of use for a macro lens!

My next one is going to be a long lens .... 200mm or more.

This sounds like a wonderful drug! :scared1:

I'd say it ranks right there with heroin and crack for the drug of choice .......

I just got back from taking Angelina to her school musical practice, just as I returned the phone was ringing, it was the manager from B-a-B, he wants to see Angelina tomorrow afternoon at 4pm for a more in depth interview. He also said Angelina did quite will with the 100 question survey she took this afternoon!!! :goodvibes

Now, if you could keep good thoughts and say prayers for Hazel. She started having severe IBS attacks after we arrived home from dinner tonight. Hazel has an appointment to see our family doc this Thursday. She first starting having IBS attacks in December 2004, then they stopped in February on 2005, never had anymore problems until just a few weeks ago, now they are getting more severe again. :scared:

Thoughts, prayers and pixie dust coming your way for both of your girls Andy.

I think the genre is "mostly rock". Miles Davis has one at #12. Robert Johnson #27 :confused3 IMO, not rock, but if you are going to put that one on the list it should be much higher.

They got it right with The Clash, but the Sex Pistols aren't on the list until 47, behind the Ramones at 31. Now if we are talking about far-reaching influence, which I think they are with Sgt. Pepper, Revolver and Pet Sounds, then they missed the punk boat, so to speak. You can still hear those influnces in alt. rock today.

I thought the same thing about the release dates. Maybe all the reviewers were the same-ish age. Anyone anywhere near my age would put Nirvana's Nevermind & U2's Joshua Tree in the top 10 (17 & 26 respectively).

I would put Joshua Tree at number 1 on my list and DH was definitely have Nevermind in his top 10!

Here is an interesting situation...my sunscreen is frozen!
I went shopping yesterday during lunch, so it sat in my car all day.
I wonder if freezing alters the effectiveness of sunscreen.
I wonder if I am the first person in the history of the world to freeze a bottle of sunscreen.

I'm off to work. Hi Ho and whatnot.

I can actually say it was a beautiful day today. The high was 74. By the end of the week, back down into the 40's. It was nice while it lasted, all of one day.

Tell me about the positioning. I never subscribed to the thread because I would always find it in the top 3. Now were falling. May have to get a subscription so it is easier to find. :rotfl2:

I couldn't find the thread either. I thought maybe we were booted off! We have not had Lisa to keep everyone under control.

I must apologize for my outburst yesterday. I have since cooled off, and I can only chalk up my frustration to the fact that I was having a stressful day.
But I do want to clear my name (in my defense) to those of you who may think I'm a total witch because I'm not always there for friends and family to babysit...I have been an aunt for almost 12 years. I have been friends with SEVERAL folks w/kids for over 7 years. If it were just one sibling or one friend who occasionally asked for favors, that would be one thing. But I have a brother with 2 kids, a sister with 3 kids, a set of friends with one child, another set of friends with 2 children, friend with 1 child, well...you get the picture. And over the years, we have come to be known as the "go-to" folks for ALL of these people!! And they generally expect free child care. We have been more than generous with our time, and have done so happily and willingly. But we're just having to cut back because we simply feel like we need more time to ourselves for all of the planning and preparations we're doing.

OK, that's all I'll say because I really didn't want to bring this up again today, (because it's really yesterday's news) but I don't want anyone here to think that I'm just being a big ole meanie... :rotfl:

No one ever thought anything less of you for venting. You need to take time for yourselves right now. I even say no to babysitting my grandchildren once in a great while.

Tell Angelina it is more a personality test. I had to take a two hour test to work for the MOUSE. I always spent more than I ever made. B-a-B could not be really careful. I was hired.:rotfl2:

Hi Laura,

Feeling better - just wish I could get rid of the fever and get my appetite back. I'm going back to work tomorrow no mater what though.

Are you back 100% yet?

Glad you are feeling a little better Lorri, but becareful going back to work too early!!! You do not need a relapse. I wish I could give my appetite to you. I love :cake: cookies and anything else that is fattening.

Andy, look at the bright side, you're not old enough to be my dad. I'm sure there are DISers here however that are only in their late 20's.

I'm dreading the day we hire someone here that has a b-day in the 1990's. Bad enough I had an intern that was born after my HS graduation. :sad1:

You guys know that I'm in HR right? Well in 2005, the first time I was involved with hiring someone born in 1984 I looked at him, a big strapping 21-year-old young man and thought, this is the human embodiment of my marriage. Now your probably thinking that's weird, I did too, but it was really an amazing way to visually quanitify my marriage and think about how long a period of time being married to someone for 21 years really is.

Then i reached over and patted my husband on the back for a job well done.....how in the world could he have tolerated all those years married to me :rotfl:

There was a posting some time ago that made reference to the "IDEA" that a teaspoon or NUTMEG would bring on a psychotropic effect similar to that of LSD... however, the downside is there would be an immediate and prolonged dry hacking "heaving" bad enough to wake the whole neighborhood.

DOn't expect me to FIND the original posting of this... <chuckles>;)

:goodvibes

My DH would expect to see Led Zeppelin and King Crimson in the top 10.

Hi - Ya - Max is a cute guy and he's really smart - training him is going to be both fun and necessary. Did I mention that he's my 8th German Shepherd? I love the breed. Mixed in with them have been a number of Wonderful mutts.
The fog is rolling in here in Redondo Beach, cooling down quickly. There's been a bit of a heat wave here the past few days. I'm glad now I made Tortilla Soup for dinner.
Today was my post-op appt for the bone graft and I guess the 3rd time's the charm - to quote "it was very, very successful" - I gues that's why the guy from UCLA gets the big bucks (out of my pocket!!) However, I am so, so relieved - I'll get implants and have teeth again - otherwise I'd be going on the cruise like Granny Clampett!!
Have to run DGS Matt over to YMCA Junior Lakers basketball practce.
til tomorrow -
Oh, I'll check later to see how Hazel is - thoughts and prayers to her.

:scared:

Keeping good thoughts for Hazel.

Is there any chance that she could be having gall bladder attacks brought on by things like greasy/rich foods or foods with lots of fiber like salads? Ask Hazel to make a list of what she eats for the next few days just to see if there's any sort of pattern.

So lets' see... if we were to estimate what we needed for daily posting production to achieve 100,000 posts by embarkation day... lets keep it simple. First...

http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/kids/weirdscience/story3/comp10.gif
So - if our thread has been up for 7 days and 8 hours...
and produced 886 postings...
then this is a daily average of 120.8 posts ...
and in the 573 days remaining I can estimate our current pace will accumulate 69,580 postings.
EXACTLY what I predicted earlier.

However... in order to achieve 100,000 postings by embarkation -
then I predict that we have to average 173.62 postings daily.
That excludes making up for the short fall of 370 posts in the last 7 days!

Can we really maintain a posting pace that achieves 100,000 or more postings by embarkation?

The best thing that I recommend form personal experience especially considering children would be Ginger Ale. I have lots of stuff at work but all prescription (Zofran, Compazine, Anzemet, Phenergan) but over the counter meds just do not cut it. Unfortunately he has already started vomiting. Ginger Ale works for nausea but hard to stop vomiting. It would be an option once he starts taking liquids. Just make sure that he does not get dehydrated.
