Hi All,

Hope everyone had a great weekend - I played a little ketchup but spent most of the day working on income tax prep while DD took DGS to DL.

Gee no wonder I've got a splitting headache!!

It's time to fix dinner - I hope to check in again later.

I think GSD wants to go back to DL tomorrow as there is no school for him!!

By the way Tom, thanks for posting that warning about the dog food!

Chris :)

How many shirts do you plan on ordering? 4 Black
When would you like to order them? (Now, Christmas, Just in Time) Whenever, probably closer to cruise is better otherwise I will lose them or wear them out....
Is it more important that you have them at a certain time, or get the best price? Price more so than timing
Is eBay / PayPal a problem for you? No problem
Do you prefer 1-sided or 2-sided shirts? Or do you care?Would prefer one sided (back) or something with the thread logo on front (small offset - like logo even) and bigger back
Which is more important, the number of sides or price? doesn't matter
Do you want a door magnet? How many? one would do
Are you interested in other stuff? What? Given enough time.... nothing I can think of now

Tom thanks for the dog and cat food link.....I wanted to mention it but didn't have a link for everyone so thanks!!!

Also, in case your interested us Pirates will be wearing T-S**** as follows: Black for embarkation and White for PC day!

OK....time to catch up elsewhere. :)

BTW...I ordered the kid's ipods this afternoon. They were marked down from 149 to 39!!! I haven't seen any of the 29 half GB ones up since DS decided that he wanted to buy one of those with his allowance. I just checked today after Church & there the 1GB was!!! For only $10 more!!! :) It is in the apple store under refurbished ones. DD wont be getting hers any time soon...but getting it now saved shipping since it is free for $50 and up orders. We are going to have to wait for her attitude to improve before offering the same deal to her. I know that she will enjoy it for our flight to CA...she might be able to earn it by then. LOL!

Hope that ANYONE who has been waiting for a deal on these shuffles can get one. :)

We ended up not going to Lake George today due to a really late start (DH had to finish getting rid of the snow and someone slept in this morning due to not being able to fall asleep until after 3 :rolleyes1). Anywho...we decided to do some window shopping and ended up going to CompUSA in Latham. They were celebrating their 23rd birthday and all Ipods were 10% off. I already have a 2gb but wanted to upgrade to the 30 and asked DH to get me one for my bday. Well, with the sale I ended up getting it today!:thumbsup2 Have just over 500 songs on it now...only another 7000 to go!:cool1:

Speaking of which... I found Julia Louis Dreyfus' satire monlogue on SNL to be funny.

I probably should be open and honest with the group, I have not had the best luck travelling... first family trip to the World was 9/16/01, had to drive instead of fly due to grounding of all planes. I was in Florida for one of the 4 bad hurricanes in 2004 (managed to get last plane out of Tampa - literally - we would have weathered it out, but would have meant missing youngest DS first day of Kindergarten....), 2006 cruise rerouted due to hurricane.... and other minor incidents on other trips (tornados, etc.) My Mother will not travel the same week I do vacations (although if any rooms open up on this trip she wants to come).

We tease my parent's about their "bad" luck on vacations. Let's see, a couple years ago they went to the Destin Beach FL area during back-to-back hurricanes, then they went to the Cape Cod area a little over a year ago when it monsoon rained for 10 days straight, then they flew to the Alabama Gulf Shores, but dad incurred an infection and went to the hospital where they found he had an irregular heartbeat and was hospitalized the whole week, then my BIL and I had to drive 14 hours each way to extract him because the doctor wouldn't clear him to fly, then they were at a hockey tournament a month back where a boy from my nephew's team nearly drowned, a nurse who's son was on the team saved his life and then they life flighted him to a children's hospital, then, about two weeks ago, they were flying to Tampa when a lady had a heart attack on the plane. A nurse on that flight saved her life and when they landed, the pilot did about 60mph to gate.

I'd rather have the snow than the ice any day!

It got bad here very quickly on Friday. I work only about 15 minutes from home and it took me over an hour to get home - left the office at 12:15. Actually, I had to call DH and have him come get me and drive the car the rest of the way home. I was lucky that he was working, with someone and was able to come and rescue me between calls. Otherwise, I was going to leave the car and walk the 6 blocks home (car was in a parking lot at one of the local hospitals).

One time on a work trip, a guy two rows in front of me had a seizure about 1/2 way between philly and miami, so I guess it isn't all vacation. The kinda ironic thing about it all is that I am in the emergency management field.....

What a fun day.

My son and I got to attend the POT 3 preview. :dance3: The trailer is awesome. I can't wait until May.:hourglass

The theater here had a contest for best costume. A cute 6 year old from Staten Island won.

A man from Long Island came in 2nd place. He was pretty much a dead ringer for Jack Sparrow.

They played a few trivia games and had a raffle. Some of the prizes were pretty neat. An Ipod, a replica of Jack Sparrow's gun, figurines, tee shirts, Jack Sparrow doll, ticket to Madame Tussauds...

They gave everyone a Fan Kit which included a bandana, a PC game and a few other items.

Oh, they showed the trailer twice. It was a pretty long day, but we both enjoyed it.

Yeah, he was little hurt,at first. But very happy we hadn't jumped in any further and spent a lot of money, that we didn't have in the first place. Ya know what I mean? On a happier note tho, this will be the first time in over 15 years that he's had an entire weekend to do whatever, other than when we go on vacation.

Knowing there are a number of you with pets,

There has been a huge recall in dog food.
Some unknown ingredient in certain foods is causing renal failure, and
even death in some animals.
If any of you feed your dogs or cats canned food please click on to

The second link has the 40 different brands of dog food affected by

Yes a friend of mine at work just dropped over 200 at the vet as he gave her some wet Iams last week for the dog and now the dog has bloody stools and damage to her kidneys. And the vet gave her the food to try. She is really upset about this.

OK Joel, please tell me they are not coming with you:scared1:

No way could we have come up with the all of the rent money by ourselves. Since we hadn't signed anything yet, we just gave the business back to the man we got it from.

Now for the Good News: I ordered my New :moped: yesterday. It should be here within 2 weeks :yay:  :yay:

Yeah, he was little hurt,at first. But very happy we hadn't jumped in any further and spent a lot of money, that we didn't have in the first place. Ya know what I mean? On a happier note tho, this will be the first time in over 15 years that he's had an entire weekend to do whatever, other than when we go on vacation.

Look on the bright side...you'll be able to keep the money you didn't have and (bonus) now that he's got weekends free you two can decide if that's truly a good thing ;) When my dad went on terminal vacation before his retirement a few months ago, my mom was suddenly faced with having him at the house all the time!! I believe it is called "Going Commando" ..... although for the life of me I do not know why? :confused3

Earliest uses
Slate's Daniel Engber dates the modern usage to 1974 college campuses, where it was perhaps an outgrowth of the Vietnam War. The origins of the phrase are uncertain, with some speculating that it may refer to being "out in the open" or "ready for action." According to Engber many soldiers do go without underwear to "increase ventilation and reduce moisture." The earliest known use of the term in print is January 22, 1985 when Jim Spencer wrote in the Chicago Tribune:

Furthermore, colored briefs are 'sleazy' and going without underwear ('going commando', as they say on campus) is simply gross"."Going commando" may also come from the mistaken idea that "commandos" go into an area "without cover."

The origin of the term "going commando" may connect to the tradition in military units of Scottish heritage to not wear underwear under their kilts. The first Commando units were raised and trained in Scotland in WW2 (which is where the present-day Commando Monument is).

------

Going commando appears to be an increasingly popular practice. A 2004 study of 7,000 people by the New York-based clothier Freshpair revealed that 9% of men and 7% of women go commando day-to-day. Those who do so semiregularly are much more numerous, possibly around 25-30%, and most people have tried it at some point.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! DW and I have almost rid ourselves of the Black Cloud of Doom that has plagued us for years!

I think being on the same ship with Joel's parents would ensure something would happen to a drive shaft forcing us to stay aboard ship an extra day while in Mexico, the ship would get stuck in a PC lock forcing us to stay aboard ship an extra day or two while they get the locks fixed and/or some freaky tropical storm will hit the Leeward Islands and push a bunch of silt north towards the Bahamas causing the Magic to get stuck on a sandbar that formed under the ship as we're all playing on Castaway Cay forcing us to have to stay at the Cay and aboard ship a few days while a dredger is brought over from Florida. Yeah, that would be a bad thing ;)

Hello everyone!!! Before I play ketchup, I was curious as to who was on this late at night??? :confused3

Esteri
03-18-2007, 11:33 PM
Wooo-Hoooo. It's a new personal record - 37 pages of ketchup in 75 minutes. :woohoo: Course, now I have to respond to the posts I marked...

Sorry in advance, about the groundhogs at that rate - I'm certain I missed stuff.

We've done CRT breakfast twice (this was before they made the changes). First time just me and DS, second time with a friend and her godson. My son wasn't really sure he wanted to do it, but he knew it was mainly for mom. First trip he was 8, next trip 9. Turns out he loved it, and was glad I had planned it again for the next trip. He loves characters and will wait in line for his favorites. However he won't wait in line for the princesses. Not that he doesn't want a pic with them, but he doesn't want anyone seeing him wait in line. So when he was able to get pics and autographs at the meal, he was pretty happy. Especially since they all called him prince and told him how handsome he is.

Thanks to everyone for the advice on CRT. Now that they've announced a P&P Party on same date we have our ressies - things may have to change. I asked DS10 and DS5 if they're rather do CRT or the P&P Party. After due consideration (about 90 seconds) partying with Pirates won out over Breakfast with Princesses. So, I've got to go back and relook at it all. Still - that's a Friday night, and the locals may be packing the place... Ah well, lots of time to figure it out I suppose.

You may be on to something there......remember my pic of my dad with Jasmine???

My thoughts exactly. :lmao:

Well, DS has had girl friends come over for a couple hours before. He tells me he is going to marry one of them. They have known each other most of their lives. They are pretty cute together talking about it. LOL! Then he is only 8 right now.

DS5 annuonced last week that he was going to marry Sydney. Sydney's mom called a few days later to ask about a play date. Apparently, Sydney is agreeable. So, they had a play date to celebrate the betrothal. :rotfl2:

DS told me after dinner at 1900 Park Faire that he wished he had worn his best clothes like the girls did for his pictures...that after saying that he didn't want to go at all. Prince Charming gave him a lesson in how to stand like a prince.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n199/ptomom/100_2508.jpg

My boys could sure use some Prince lessons. Handsome lad.

One of my favorite scifi book series ..... "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. The movie did not do it justice!

Amen brother.

Where is that global warming they talk about?

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/brackjr/zglobalwarming.jpg

:rotfl:  :rotfl:

...

Anyhow, that is how the got their picture with the princesses. The girls were floating on a cloud the entire time and all of the princesses took the time to talk to everyone there. BJ brought us autographed copies the last night at dinner. I wasn't expecting that either...but imagine that they can't post the pictures in Shutters because it would create more problems than it would be worth.

Wow. Impressive recovery on the part of Disney.

We have a couple of fruit trees in back too... but our problem appears to include possums, rats, squirrels, birds ... and once we had a family of bobcats visit our back yard. Our neighbor saw them enter one very early morning - but neglected to tell me till a couple of days later <?!?> and they were long gone by then. Not to say they were after our fruits.

http://www.ri.net/schools/North_Providence/Birchwood/bobcat2.bmp

Maybe they're taking care of those possoms and rats and squirrels - Oh, My! Here kitty, kitty, kitty.

Not been keeping up with the thread regularly so hope we are not too late. Would want to order a t-shirt or 2 for both of us, and take a look at any other merchandise there may be, including magnets and pins and such.

Thanks

Tom and Diana

Is that "The Wench" or "The Boss" or "Both?"

My dad calls here "She Who Must Be Obeyed"

My husband? CIC-Spouse (who apparently can out rank the CIC in certain circles)

Are you volunteering? if so that would be great!

We were actually on the 8/25 cruise (technically the week after Invincible opened up....)

It was the Western turned Eastern due to hurricane (the ONE we had last year)

Are you sure you don't want to take the May repo??:rotfl:

No way could we have come up with the all of the rent money by ourselves. Since we hadn't signed anything yet, we just gave the business back to the man we got it from.

Now for the Good News: I ordered my New :moped: yesterday. It should be here within 2 weeks :yay:  :yay:

The Sad News is sorry to hear your train store closed down. :sad2: The Good News is you will have more time to ride.:cheer2:

We'll be at the midnight showing. My DS wasn't too sure about dressing up for the event today, but did anyway. Once he saw everyone else, he was glad he dressed up. Then when I asked if he would dress up for DL for the red carpet and for the midnight showing on opening day, he said he would. Even if he didn't I would.

Oh and the kids winner at ours was a little 3 or 4 yr old boy.

Sounds like a great time, happy to hear you enjoyed your day!!! ;)

Just doing a little ketchup before getting the day going.

Happy Belated Birthday to all.

I have to say, your kids are gorgeous, stinky teens included. I love the Mickey themed rooms. I wouldn't mine a few mouse ear drawer pulls. I'll have to check HD or Lowes.

It's still a frozen tundra here. I hope that all this stuff magically melts and the flowers appear tomorrow. It's the first day of Spring, it's suppose to be this way!

For you AR fans, I am so glad the Joyce and Uchenna are still in it.

I missed the last 20 min of the race as the game pushed everything back and I only extend that 30 min.Oh well, I got the info off the site. Glad for them. I wasn't happy about who came in first  They just annoy me. I'd like to see C&M get to the yucky eating challenge:laughing:

It is chilly here this am. DH has a habit of lying on top of the blanket at night and as a result, last night he was cold so grabbed the blanket covering me and pulling it over. That woke me up. Poor dog hates when I raise my voice,(which is often).

I will be updating the manifest & bios with everyone's info who has sent it in over the past couple weeks today. Working on the site's design has taken my planning time lately. Things are looking good though & it will be coming out soon. :)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU!!!! I can't wait to see it. I really miss being able to look and see who all is going and who is connected to whom. Lois

General DIS Question - does the search function not work or am I just DIS Challenged?

Can't use search to find old post in thread to respond to....

I think the search function is kind of hit and miss, I also don't like since the DIS switched to the new server, I've tried looking for a previous post and have the hardest time searching for it.

Happy Monday everyone...:headache:

Hope you all had a great weekend! I had a very busy Saturday, and then spent yesterday not feeling too well. And Jen's tooth is still bothering her. She thinks it might be infected...so she's calling the dentist today to see what needs to be done from here. So anyhow, we spent the day just being lazy and taking it easy yesterday. I feel better today.

We have to take one of our kitties to the vet this evening. She's losing a bunch of her hair on her rear legs/hips and back. We thought for a while that she was overgrooming, like an OCD type thing...But the skin seems really irritated and red, so we're taking her in. I always get so nervous taking my cats to the vet. It only takes one trip to the vet and getting the "really bad news" to make you a little hesitant to take them in.

Anyway, just trying to ketchup. :thumbsup2

How old is your Kitty? Hope she's okay.

We are still dealing with Beau's (our 13 1/2 yo Sheltie) recovery. He is SLOWLY improving. Hopefully, he will be better before we leave for Spring break. I'd hate leaving him if he is still sick. I have a friend coming to take care of him, but we have to board Sloopy, as he is too high-maintenance! He goes nuts when I am not home, even if everyone else is still there.

Have a great trip just in case I am actually doing some thing besides being on the boards. :goodvibes

I am sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope your Beau is getting better also.

I own my own pet sitting business and fortunately the dogs I am taking care of now are not on any of the dog foods affected.

I went to PetSmart today to get some dog food and alot of the shelves are empty.

I hope everyone's pet that was affected by this gets better.

I have a suggestion for this...DDs bestest friend ever panics every time we take a cruise because she's seen the movie. Point out to your DD what the water looks like...i.e. snow and ice. Also mention that what caused the damage was an iceberg and when Mickey sails, it's in the Caribbean (tropical water...hurricanes maybe, icebergs, definitely not. Karen that's a really great suggestion. My son is old enough to figure out that things have changed. But for the younger ones, this is something that would make perfect sense to them.

Regarding TITANTIC. The first time I saw the movie I had taken my neice who was 10 at the time I ended up in the hospital with a gallbladder attack. I never saw the end of the movie. What caused it was all the butter my neice put on the popcorn. I thought I was having a heart attack and I drove to my sisters house in such pain I didn't think I was going to make it. My sister being a nurse and her neighbors are also nurses came over to check me out and wanted to call an ambulance. NO WAY, we drove to the hospital and after sonogram, exray detrmined that I had an infection in my gallbladder and could't operate until the infection went away. I was so upset because I didn't see the whole movie. It took me 5 years to actually sit down and watch the DVD. Now I watch the movie all the time.
When it came to go on my first cruise after watching the movie I kept saying to myself "MICKEY WILL WATCH OVER ME" and also there are no icebergs in the Carribbean.!

Happy birthday to all I have missed.

Julie/Bellelinus, sorry to here of problem in family hope its ok ASAP.

Panama Canal the question of shutters staff getting on and off.

Yes the ship proceeds very slowly through the locks; at each lock as it enters they hook the ship up to the mules (little trains) the ship is pulled in very slowly.

The shutters staff have the time to get on and off they have special permission to do so and can just walk across.

The Magic is very tight into the lock so basically no gap but they do put a ramp/wood plank across for shutters to walk across.

Whilst I viewed last time, DCL took some local kids in at the second lock and I could see them walk across, I think it was for some charity etc, and I believe they went to the bridge and given a nice day.

All I would recommend is to be viewed, from the shore, wave, get yourself noticed etc if you want a picture and try to put something on your verandah, or wear something noticeable so you can find your pictures quickly.

Remember this time is 15 days and shutters will remove pictures, we missed a couple and had to go through box after box, they have an idea from days etc, but last time with 14 days with all of the viewing experiences they ran out of sp

Nope;) We did invite them, but they participate in the antique tractor show at our county fairgrounds that runs the week prior to Labor day each year. I think they were hoping we'd volunteer to switch to the WB Panama Cruise. My response, "So...you want us to pull your GKs out of school for two weeks (they won't miss any on the EB) so you can show an Antique Tractor?" :confused3

We all would like to give you a group :grouphug: I hope your parents have a very nice time at the antique tractor pull.:yay: :yay:

I guess it would not be bad as long as paychecks will still me coming.

Just a quick post to say that I won't be on for a while -- family emergency. We've even had to cancel our cruise for this Saturday.

I wish the best for your family. Lots of pixiedust: and prayers are being sent your way.:grouphug:

Went to the Ultimate Fan Event in SF. Tons of people in pirate garb. A few give aways. Saw P1 on the big screen again....awesome to see the one that started it all. Then at the very end, the P3 trailer....that's one EPIC movie...they even showed the trailer twice so we could catch bits that we didn't see the first time around.

And as an added bonus......Marty Klebba was there....we got pics and autographs

(Note to self: Don't ask questions requiring research or you will be volunteered to do it!)

Of course since the search doesn't work I couln't find the oringal e-mail to retract my thoughts so I could accuse those who quoted it of fabrication and other neat accusatory terms. :rotfl:

Actually it was quite easy, Google Maps and Yahoo Maps both agree that there is a liquor store .15 miles south (?? towards the bottom of the map) of the HoJo's and a few others near by. I plotted them on Google Earth and saved the image, but as near as my IT challenged self can figure, I can't upload the image and can't access photosharing from work, so (after wasting all this wonderful text and space), what do we do if we have good, useful, (dare I say) on topic, and important information? Do we send the map and text to someone? Do I just hold it and say "Na, na, na, na, na, naaa, I can get booze and you can't" (no wait, already gave my room number to the alleged 'website', don't want them all knocking at 4 am to steal my booze...) :rotfl2:

Of course, if I don't check back in regularly, I will be unable to find this post or any of the replies.....

Don't worry, we're just joking about nominating you. But you did some great research. There are several liquor stores nearby, plus a few grocery stores (our CA stores sell booze too). We'll be ok. Plus, if you have heard MR will be bringing a 400lb backpack of booze to go along with her blender. We'll be set with booze.

If you want to send the info to Lisa, her email is on the first page. She'll make sure it gets on the website.

Question for past cruisers?

I see a lot of mention of renting cars from Budget at the port. But I can't stand Budget and would really rather not rent from them. Is there anyone else who rents at the port and/or has shuttles to their rental locations? I want to rent from the port, stay a few days in Orlando, then return the car to MCO.

Avis and Thrifty both have rentals closer to the port with Shuttles

National is a little further out but you have to take a taxi to them.

I've used BUdget once - didn't like their cars

We used Thrifty last trip - rented a Pacifica - everything went well.
(we even upgraded from full size to the premium size at last minute and it was only a $10 daily upcharge.)

I just ordered 8 pins for a total including tax $25.62. There are Lion King and Mary Poppins on Broadway pins that retail for $4.99, but with the code, it only charged $2.99. Plus it's free shipping Mondays.

Great deal for traders. Someone on that thread asked if the Broadway pins are tradable, and yes they are, we've traded with them before.

Yeah, DW mentioned that this may have been the cause for dear DKitty's sudden decline in health prompting us to have her put down :sad1: At least she had a long 14 years.

My heart goes out to you!! My cat was diagnosed with CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) last spring and we thought she was going to have to be put down, too. She was 9 at the time. Vet said she didn't need to be put down if we could care for her. We said we'd try and she was immediately put on a prescription food, an antibiotic, PhosLo, Pepcid & we had to give her 100ccs lactated ringers, subcutaneously. The fluids was the hardest part. Ever try to give a cat an IV??? Not easy, let me tell you. They say they get used to it, not my cat. Anyway, many cats in her condition are on this regiment for life. Thankfully, it's almost a year later and she is down to prescription food and 100ccs of fluids about once or twice a week.

Thankfully my cat only eats dry food, but the vet said that while she couldn't say for sure, it could have been caused by "grocery store" brand foods.

Not sure if you've reposted, but I wanted to say that my cat had this problem when we first got her. Turns out she was allergic to fleas. Not the best things but it's easy enough to take care of. Hope she fairs well.

How do we go about "one-way" rentals for tuxedos / dinner-suits etc - collecting in California and drop-off in Florida. Coming from the UK, I really do not want to have to bring dinner-suits for me and my son. There'll be enough luggage with he dresses for my wife and daughter without adding to it !! Also, I'll be bringing two rugby jerseys for Castaway Cay !!

Any previous eastbound repo cruisers remember what they did?

Any help, as always is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info ........ I think. :confused3

Not me ...... ever!

Should we take a poll? ......... NOT!!!

I especially would like to thank you Tom because I will have to buy the 400 lbs. of booze in CA......usually I drive my 100 lbs of booze to Fl!! So I will definitely be looking for a liquor store......Now I will be visited my darling SIL while in CA, so if I could somehow convince her to shop for the 400 lbs of booze before I even land in CA.....ALL THE BETTER!! :rotfl2:

Oh, and since they are pre-mixed blender drinks (of the TGI Friday variety)...they usually come in plastic bottles. :thumbsup2

I am now car-less for tomorrow. I took my car in for an oil change today and told them I heard a rubbing noise in my steering wheel. They said there is something wrong in the power steering and they should have it fixed by late tomorrow afternoon. At least it is still under factory warranty--but aggravating.

Hey there Paula.....sorry about your wheels....but thank goodness it's under warranty. Anything to do with car repair today costs a fabulous fortune!

Thanks for offering to lend us clothing too........I think I might try this "going commando" thing, so I just need outergarments and shoes :rotfl:

I know it's a long time before we leave BUT something that's been nagging me for a few weeks about this cruise.......

David

The cruise line will use the same company they usually do. The items will be in your room when you board. :) The link to the company is in one of the earlier summaries.

All my pics were taken in the lobby. Once we were let in, I checked my cell phone and camera with Guest Services. Others got in with theirs, but as soon as they took them out, there was someone right there making them go check it.

That was nice of them to provide that service.

That happened to me about 2 months ago - it was the rack and pinion?? I don't know how to spell it. Anyways - it took 2 days to fix and luckily we had the extended warranty so we did not have to pay for it. It is now making that noise again - I need to get it back in there. Good luck with yours!
