On a lighter note. I was sent this link to youtube from a friend & it is really very funny. It's from an interview on the Ellen show with a grandma in Texas via telephone if you haven't seen it, it's worth watching.
I've never posted a link on the DIS before so I hope I did this right. Keep your fingers crossed!

I think I originaly read this somewhere on the DIS - but I have been following the advice for a few years now - ALWAYS use more than one memory card! I swap mine every couple of days - sometimes more often. It is possible for a card to get damaged/scrambled/etc, you could lose your camera or it could be stolen, and so on. Having multiple cards helps insure that you can't lose ALL your photos. I keep one card in the camera, one spare in the bag and all others at the stateroom or hotel. Since I know I will be doing this, I don't bother to spend the $$ on big memory cards - even my older 256MB ones aren't bad. My newer ones are usually 1GB just because there are a lot of good deals out there.
pdarrah (Pamela)
We generally fill a 1 GB card in a day. I take A LOT of pictures. :goodvibes DH loads them onto the laptop & clears them if we have run out of cards.

Ok...I'm confused...
What exactly happened to the 1st 50 "collected" widgets that resulted in starting all over again and not counting? Sounds like a female ploy to collect more widgets than one needs...I think we need to reduce the widget allotment to a 100% increase in year two. :lmao:
It's a conspiracy to encourage the hoarding of widgets, thereby increasing profits for widget manufacturers worldwide, like Worldwide Widgets, Inc. and Widgets R We.

Okay so before my multi-quoting to catch up... and btw it isn't that bad this time. There wasn't as many pages as usual!... I wanted to just update after my dr appt today.
The dr feels it's Bell's palsy and she thinks it's stress related. Now I don't know of any stress I have had lately other than normal every day stress but I am a worrier by nature... so who knows. I also have fluids behind my right ear but she said that's a symptom, not a cause -because the ear isn't infected and she said not moving my face on that side will cause fluids not to drain as they should. Something like that. So the pain in my ear area is caused by fluids which are built up BECAUSE of the paralysis on that side- not an infection causing the paralysis- atleast not an ear infection.
She said my tonsils were huge but they always are... I should have had those taken out when I was a child... a long long time ago.
She gave me a shot of steroids or something like that and some viral medication Rx... and I'm supposed to take some B12 vitamins also... and we'll go from here to see if that helps or if it just runs it's course. :confused3 I guess I just have to live with it and pray it will go away. it's not easy though... it's hard to blink my right eye all the way, it's hurting by my ear, everything I eat or drink or even my saliva makes me want to HURL because it's like I have a mouth full of sea (salt) water all the time... I can't even drink from a straw to try to bypass tasting liquids because I can't get my lips to work right! Eating and talking I have to be careful because on the right side my lips get in the way- similar to if you are numbed top/bottom on one side to get work done on you teeth yanno?
ugh I just hope and pray it goes away soon. :sad1:
Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts and prayers. I do appreciate it.
BIP, again, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. If I lived closer I would bring you some chicken soup and a big HUG  .

You mean you didn't find that "intuitively obvious"? :lmao: I had a prof (Dr. Andrea Viterbi....for those of you who are signals & systems ubergeeks, you'll recognize "Viterbi" as the name of the father of CDMA--the technology that brought us the cell phone...Andrea is his daughter) who would spend 45 minutes filling up 4 whiteboards with equations and then saying "It's intuitively obvious that the solution approaches infinity..."
Uh yeah, it's intuitively obvious if you've been playing in your daddy's lab since you were 4 and you have a double PhD in electrical engineering and theorictical analytics! :sad2:
The Viterbi algorithm. Walsh codes. Markov chains. Make it stop. I come to the DIS to FORGET about my day job. Not to hear four-letter words like C-D-M-A.

This is what was confusing us. It is the starting over again part.
We were talking about annual donors to our organization at a certain level, so just because they donated above a certain $ level one year, doesn't guarantee they will do it again in Year 2. So we have to earn them all over again in year 2. Donors are not like shoes.
So say we had 50 donors who contributed at least $1 in Year 1
and 150 donors who contributed at least $1 in Year 2
What is the percentage of increase?
200%, right?
(just so you don't think I am totally pathetic, you can add several zeros after the $1 - our operating budget is low, but significantly more than $150!!)
Think of it this way.
In Year n, you had 50 donors.
If in Year n+1, you had 50 donors, it would be a 0% increase. So, this is what is meant by 'throwing away' the first 50 donors.
If you had 100 donors, you have a 100% percentage increase
[new (150) - old (50)] / old (50) = 2.0 or 200% increase for 150 donors.

ONE GB a day is a lot! Of course... you may be shooting larger files then me too. Shooting say 10MB with a RAW+JPEG pairing would take up a lot of space per shot. I don't shoot RAW yet.... as my computers are not very high powered and just opening a RAW image takes significantly longer for me.
On average for the last cruise I shot about 300-800 frames a day - depending on what we did that day.

My Chevron station has been robbed 7 times in 2 years all at gun point. Everyone of them were caught and prosecuted except there is still 1 out there. We didn't get a good pic of him. Had a big hoody on and something covering his face. I hate thieves.
I was at Pizza Hut twice in NO when we were robbed...once was a joke but we were ready to break the window to get out of the dining room. They were robbed again on a day I was suppose to cover for someone but they said they didn't need me. That time they were locked in the walkin. :(

She's a Sophomore. Let's see....school dance team, 6:00 am to 7:15 when school starts, three mornings a week. Troupe at the studio 3 nights a week, teaching two nights a week and another dance class at a different studio one night a week. Perform at the school ball games mostly on Friday nights, competitions on Saturdays and Sundays.
She doesn't have her license yet, so that means either me or Dad drive her. Once in a while she goes with a friend.
It really gets bad when DS is also playing a sport.
You, too, will soon learn the fine art of being in two or three places at the same time.
WOW!!! that is crazy!!! :scared: Right now I allow them to do soccer...on the same team with one practice during the week and a saturday am game. Baseball is too late & too many practices during the week. I would let DD take one class of dance if she wanted to & DS to do swim team if he loses his nerves but that is it for right now. They need to be in their rooms unwinding at 7:30.

Okay...now someone has something to use against me for blackmail. DO NOT tell my DH that I might be able to have a professional help me buy jewelry! Awesome! Not that I need the help...I'm one of those who tends to zero in automatically on the most expensive item in the case, without even realizing it. :sad2:
LOL! You could be dangerous! ;) I tend to zero in on the deals...even my wedding dress turned out to be on sale. I hadn't looked at the prices...just picked out what I liked. It was the second dress I tried on. I was afraid to see the tag then saw that it was on sale. Of course that still took up half of our budget. :rolleyes1 That budget was quickly realized to be unrealistic. We went over 1K slightly.

My nephew is in first grade. He's been having trouble in Math. DB and DSIL are also having trouble with the 2007 way to do simple math. So they ask Aunt Kathy if she could help. Aunt Kathy, having backround in chemistry, math and finance, figures how bad can "new math" be.  OMG! What are they teaching? My nephew is telling me they have to estimated the answer. HUH!!!! Excuse me, I make drugs for a living. If I did a WAG on the amount of drug I needed in a product I would be shut down and in jail. What ever happened to memorizing the times tables?? Now I understand why cashiers cannot count back change anymore. Is this another sign that I'm getting old? :sad2: :sad2:
I told DS that we weren't allowed to use a calculator until college because it was considered cheating. He couldn't believe it because they are being taught to use them in 3rd grade for the EOG testing...he is 2nd grade but doing advanced math worksheets. I remember my first job cashiering...we weren't told how much change to give back & didn't scan anything. I had to enter the price and count it out myself.

What's even sadder is that I can remember most of the videos for them way back when MTV showed music videos. I love the bar-b-queing iguana scene from Mexican Radio.
Um...it's been a while since I have watched MTV but did they really stop showing music videos? :confused3

Re: the sad state of math education.
Here's something that happened last week in my office. There are two of us here with 4 degrees between us (summa & magna cum laude, no less) & here is a question we still don't know the answer to:
If you collected 50 widgets last year, and this year you start all over again and collect 150 widget - what is the percentage of the increase?
200% ??? 150% ??? 300% ????
Now in our defense, our degrees are in subjects like political communication, public administration and marketing, so no matter what we decide the answer is, we'll be able to rationalize and defend it to the death in a public debate!
I believe there are two types of people: math/science & history/English.
Guess which category I fall into.
The equation would probably be 150 = x% of 50....so 150 = x% x 50
150/50 = x%
3 = x %
300 = x

That is so sweet! I tried to do that with a friend of mine. She was going Jan 06 with family and I was seriously thinking about it. I ended up booking, but I couldn't keep it a secret. I am very bad at that.:p
I understand, we almost ended up avoiding them so we weren't tempted to talk about it! Of course we spent a lot of time with them over the Holidays and we even gave them homemade cruise ships with all sorts of goodies for "their" cruise. But we still managed to keep it quiet! It is a really fun memory!

she sorta, have this adventure streak in her....& we almost got into
alot trouble flying back home last oct., (after our cruise). during takeoff,
she reacted as if on r&r coaster...and though i was tried to set a limit
on her enthusiasm, others seating near us, only encouraged her.
that turned out to be a mistake....cause as we went to land, the
gear came down in 2 phases, making a loud thump...and true to form,
she screamed out.."we're all going to die!"...well those encouraging
LOL! That reminds me of DD & DS's first plane ride that they would remember last September on the way to DH's graduation. OY! I had to search for my post about it.
DD provided the entertainment for the people in our area on both flights. She didn't scream, but she wasn't quiet when she talked either. Her first question?
Momma, what happens if the lightening hits the plane? Will we fall down and break into lots of pieces?
When the plane started down the runway to take off she grabbed my hand and yelled WHOAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
She thought it was so way cool when she could see everything from the air. However, she said that she couldn't see the Washington Monument. When I told her that we weren't in DC she said....but momma, we can see everything from up here!
As we got into the clouds she asked...Momma, are we in outer space now?
Of course that morning was an adventure. Here's my story...
Well, I ran over to a friend's house to pick up her DS's GBA so that DS would be able to enjoy it on the trip. I was running around at 11 am filling out a rebate that had to be pmd by 9/2. I took my GC out of my wallet telling myself to be sure to put it back in my purse for the airport. Just as I finished, our ride showed up about 10 minutes early. That started throwing me off a bit since I was very nervous about the flight by that point. I also forgot DS's bag of food for lunch on the counter. Well, we picked up the kids and went right to the airport. We got in line for security and there were over 20 people still in front of us. The plane was late getting there so we weren't rushed. I got to the front to show the person our tickets and ID and my heart stopped. I knew that it was still on the counter at home. I didn't have the cell for the person who had just dropped us off and the only person with a key to our house was at a meeting and I didn't know where so the only option was to call another person to come pick us up, take us to the house to get my wallet, and take us back. Since we are about 10 minutes away, we could have just made it back to board the plane with little extra time. I was in tears by the time I went back to the check in counter where there were several people still waiting in line. The girl I went to said that it would be fine, I would get on the plane. When I asked how she said that she was giving me a ticket for a security screening. At that point I didn't care as long as I got on that plane & got to Baltimore ASAP.
While waiting in line with the kids again I was thinking about all the horror stories that I had heard about screening and was determined to have the kids come with me where ever I had to go. The guy in front of us started talking to DS and he learned that I forgot my wallet at home. I was trying to be positive so said that as long as we didn't get stuck in Charlotte, we would be fine since DH would have money & the CC. (I actually didn't even think about the fact that we would have had to stay at the airport there and NOT go to a hotel even if the airline offered it because I wouldn't be able to get back into the airport easily since it was much larger until I talked to Kristina on Saturday. ) Before I knew it, that man was handing me money. I felt funny taking it and declined it but then he said miss, you will have to get these kids something to eat if that happens. Please take the money. I couldn't turn it down after he said that.
So we get up to the scanner and the security people see my ticket for the screening and start discussing what to do about the kids. One said that they needed to be screened too but others said they didn't need ID so they shouldn't be. I told them that as long as they explained everything to them and I stayed with them, I had no problem with them being checked too. Of course at that point I had no idea what that entailed. They had each of them go thru the scanner and stand to the side to wait for me. I went thru then stood off to the side where one of the female guards simply did a very quick pat down and that was it. We went over to wait for them to go thru our bags. They had to search everything. I have to say that the people who did that were wonderful with the kids. One woman handed DD my sandals. She started giggling and said they were not hers. When she did give her a sandal it was only one. A few people I talked to said that wouldn't have happened at a larger airport but I don't think that they broke any rules. Apparently this happens sometimes. Maybe the people here just aren't on a power trip wanting to intimidate others just because they have that job. ???

Well...
... I used to tell my spouse a long time ago (when I noticed her obcessing with appearances) that EVERYONE gets older and heavier ... and everyones' health slips, and we get heavier, flabbier, etc... and no matter how she looks or changes as we age it'll be the same tomorrow as today because the ONE thing that almost NEVER changes is whats' INSIDE everyone. And by that I mean our memories, our feelings and how we have and will treat one another. BIP, from these few weeks we've seen in your posts a playful vitality and wellspring of humor and life that transcends anything so superficial as mere appearances. I've never met you in person except here by your words - and I count you among the many who are the "fun lovin'" ones to follow. The thing I thing that is rare is when any of us find a moment in life when we have a clear and pleasant moment. And that can come when you're snickerin' over a silly pirate joke posting or maybe a barely appropriate image or comment otherwise appearing. Plus the same simple clearity of mind comes when you gaze out in the morning or early evening and watch the moon rising or fading as large as its' looming now.
Really, so many people probably thing everyone else looks funny (or different) ... I have to pause maybe once a year and think ... how petty can THAT person over "there" get? Did you know that in earlier times the skinny women were frowned upon as 2nd or 3rd rate cuz they typically were not thought of as physically ready to pop out youngin's and SURVIVE the birthin' process? Or somethin' like that. As such - may i suggest you just not worry about the superficial nonsense of appearances... and just focus on what's REALLY important - like lookin' after your health (and just that), then lookin' after the ones close to you - like your kids an' spouse, parents and siblings - and pets. Plus the other things that really matter - which are important.
I'll share something very close to me... that last year for the 1st time in my life I had several friends and family come down with chronic and likely terminal illnesses. Just last week a friend who is precisely our age confided that they found spots on a scan - and she had just had a kidney removed due to cancer. So shes' possibly metastatic - stage 4 previously - and now the outlook is for a half dozen years if shes' really lucky. SHe has a 1 year old. That was heart breaking and frankly scared bee-jeez-us out of me. Just yesterday I was telling my spouse I had some wierd ache and if it persisted a couple more days I was gonna have it checked out.
Having folks getting ill - and chronically so has reawakened me to the idea of cherishing life, family, friends and everything else I got. What little it is - or in some ways we're "rich"... and I'm not sayin' we're silver spoon rich or anything... but very rich in other ways certainly.
There were times when some folks woudl ask me "WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH So-and-So?". Meaning some folks were being VERY EMOTIONALLY ANGRY and lashing out at more or less everyone. I was in a postion of having been told already what was going on - and also asked to remain silent with the news. So all I could say way - "let it pass.... you'll find out some time down the road... (and I added)... I can only say you should just try to figure out what makes you happiest and do a lot more of it". Months later when some folks learned more - they told me they now understand what I was talking about. And they're still having trouble sorting out what makes them happiest.
The lucky ones are the folks who identify some of the big things that make them really happy - and they are the ones who are doin' it. THAT is something we really have some control over. Our time to walk this world is not unlimited - and we can't really make it a lot longer with current mecial science. BUT we do have a lot of control over over daily routine... and I choose to do what I feel is important to me now. Which includes doin' what makes me happy. I have some seriously mixed feelings sometimes over becoming a stay at home Dad. This came at the expense of continuing my business of 19 years. However, my spouse and I determined I could recover from an absence = while if she quite to be a SAHM she would lose a near perfect (in her eyes) position. Plus her pay and benefits were decent while I had no benefits being self employed. So I sort of involuntarily became a total SAHD. And just today at the playground I was watching my 3 YO DD at the playground and I really thought what a priceless opportunity and moment it was I was witnessing. Nothing really special... it just filled me with a "good feeling" as she insisted on leading me over the playground equipment by the hand.
What-ever it is we got going... make the best of it. Always try to figure out what makes you happiest and simply do more of it. The other stuff - well ... do what you must then return your foucus on what makes you and your loved ones happiest. That is worth investing your time and attention, eh?
OK... enuf of that. I can get a bit long winded sometimes. I guess that may be why I sometimes just focus on attaching images then writing elaborate replies.
OH well.... time to get back to playing the ketchup
game...
Crash you are a wonderful man and your sentiment was so accurate and beautiful that it would cheer anyone up, and make all of us stop for a moment and take stock. Thank you :grouphug:

Ok will stab here is that you probably are taking Augmentin (Amoxicillin/Clavulonic Acid) for your respiratory infection I heard Mark talk about over the weekend. If they are they are probably 875mg or 1000mg tablets which are jinormous and if they are generic they are cheaply made without the fancy coating on the outside. So you get to taste that wonderful fungus biproduct that we call penicillin. The advantage of these horse pills is that you only have to take them twice a day instead of 4 or more times a day. I would take it with some food so that it does not come back up on you. Get well soon.

Ok, I think you are kidding me about my nutmeg. I had a pharmacology professor in pharmacy school that taught us about illicit drugs. This looked like he had not only taken every kind but probably made them as well. He told us that a teaspoonful (or maybe a tablespoonful) of nutmeg would produce the same effects as LSD. They both have the same structure and work in the same way. Here is the kicker though. When you take that much nutmeg you have to go through about 24 hours of dry heaves until you get to the hallucinogenic effects. According to him if you could not find any LSD it was hell to get there but you get the same trip.

Roger I have to tell you that is truly frightening!
Yikes why am I still up?????

Yes, Andrew UK and someone else (I always forget -- sorry) are on the Med cruise before me, and Monica and the Captain are on the Med repo after me . . . I think it would be great "young fun" to try to successfully hide messages for each other that the cleaning crews don't manage to find and get rid of!

Okay - so maybe I didn't splain so good. The first fifty brings you even - so no increase. The next fifty increases you 100% and the last fifty increases you another 100% for a total of 200%.
If you make 50 the first year and the second year you would have raised 100% of what you did the first year. If you made 100, you would have raised 200% of what you did the first year.

My dog Gracie is cracking me up right now. I gave her a raw hide double knot bone yesterday. She doesn't actually eat it. She just goes around hiding it. She will walk around the house for ever crying because she can't fine a place to put it. Then she will hide it behind the curtains or under pillows on the couch. She will even put everything back the way it was before she hid the bone so you would never know that the bone was there. But the best is when she hides it in plain site like next to a chair and then guards it. If you even glance at it, she then has to move it and it starts all over again. She will do this for days before we either have to take the bone away or she forgets where she hid it. It is really quite entertaining and it keeps her from playing the in and out game for a while.
Hey Laura - I can beat that for weird..
Does Gracie suck rug?? :rotfl2:

ONE GB a day is a lot! Of course... you may be shooting larger files then me too. Shooting say 10MB with a RAW+JPEG pairing would take up a lot of space per shot. I don't shoot RAW yet.... as my computers are not very high powered and just opening a RAW image takes significantly longer for me.
On average for the last cruise I shot about 300-800 frames a day - depending on what we did that day.
I don't use a high setting...just enough for 10x13s if we want them. We can usually fit 800 on a 1GB card. We end up with 1000s of pictures to go thru...not all of them are printable but you never know when you will catch that perfect shot. :goodvibes

The equation would probably be 150 = x% of 50....so 150 = x% x 50
150/50 = x%
3 = x %
300 = x
I would also think the answer is 300%. 50 X 300% = 150
If you make 50 the first year and the second year you would have raised 100% of what you did the first year. If you made 100, you would have raised 200% of what you did the first year.
Yep, the 150/50 = x% is correct IF you wanted to find out what percentage 150 is to 50.
But if you want to find the percentage difference (or change in percent) of the two numbers then you need to use the formula:
........EndAmount - StartAmount
%Chg = -------------------------- X 100%
...............StartAmount

If you make 50 the first year and the second year you would have raised 100% of what you did the first year. If you made 100, you would have raised 200% of what you did the first year.
I believe the original question was how much did they increase from year 1 to year 2. So 200% would be correct for 150. When looking at the increase, you need to back out the denominator.
If you are looking at what percent of the prior year you produced in the second year, then yes, 100 would be 200% and 150 would be 300%.

We interrupt your regular programming to bring you this special news bulletin...
Good Evening. Tonight we have a special report from our music reporter. Take is away Tuneful...
Hello Folks. This evening we had the 4-6 grade concert. popcorn::  :scared1:
Actually, it wasn't that terrible. Each class performs separately - I don't think they're put together as a larger group until 7-8th grade. So, every "Music" class got up and sang, and played their recorders. The 4th grade did the simplist choral music - 3 parts. The 6th grade did a 4 part version of Scarboro Fair, accapella, that was just outstanding. the 5th grade did a very nice ring dance as part of their work. :dance3:
Then there was the 5th and 6th grade winds. That one really was :scared1: . On the other had - there's only so much you can do with 4 clarinets, 4 trumpets, and a drum (6th grade).
The strings classes were quite nice. This is the first year for the 4th graders on an instrument (other than recorder, which they started in 1st grade) - they did simple pieces, but acquitted themselves quite nicely. the 6th grade did Vivaldis "Spring" and was quite excellent. Rather unfortunately, there's someone in the 5th grade who can't keep time. It left the audience a bit like this.
Thank you Tuneful. And next we have our travel report. Over to you Wheels...
Good Evening. I'm very pleased to report that the family had made their precruise ressies at the HoJo. Two nights prior to the cruise for a quick peek at Disneyland. I hear the folks at the hotel were just great to work with!
Thank you Wheels. And thank You for tuning into our late evening broadcast.
We now return you to your regular programming...

Esteri - your roving reporter shtick it too funny!
I was at Pizza Hut twice in NO when we were robbed...once was a joke but we were ready to break the window to get out of the dining room. They were robbed again on a day I was suppose to cover for someone but they said they didn't need me. That time they were locked in the walkin. :(
I've never been robbed, but my replacement was robbed at gunpoint about 3 months after I quit a job. I was the night manager of a hotel in Kodiak. (Again kids, in terms of career development, a small island off the coast of Alaska is not the best place to move right after college).
I also missed the excitment when the guest in room 102 shot through the ceiling into room 202 while cleaning his hunting rifle! It was my night off.

But....a lot of us have had one thing or another that felt like it was never going to get better, so I can promise you that it will! We're here whenever you want to complain or carry on about it. You're entitled to.
Thanks Stacey... I appreciate the understanding. I hate to complain but... this does stink let me tell you.

Too funny!
My Tramp does that even with doggy biscuit type bones- you know like Milkbones? He cracks me up when he tries to hide in the corner of one of our recliners and then uses his nose to "cover" it- apparently he's hiding it with air that he's nudging over it... cause the recliner is not dirt therefore rubbing it with his forehead to cover the milkbone is only covering it with air. He's a nut.

I love this type of dog - and I for one think they are beautiful. One time I tried to describe them to the family and all I heard from them was - "What the heck is a Wigman?"
I especially love their eyes. What is the color range on this type of dog?
Are they family friendly too? :)

Yeah...
... I can machine gun my shots a bit when I shoot certain things - like my girls at any of thier activities - like Karate, Gymnastics and Soccor. And on any vacation - I take 2 of everything - then sometimes a 3rd just for good measure.
I shoot at the maximum image size and at the lowest compression my DSLR will capture. I would encourage you to do the same - especially if you crop or manipulate your images - or want to manipulate them in the future.

The things us human owners do to our best friends huh? How long did you have him? I did not have a dog for the first 18 year of our marriage but when DS got really sick he wanted a dog and since us parents are suckers for our children, I got him what he always wanted - a black and white male Siberian Husky who he wanted to call "Bob."
And what did mom get? :headache: A black and white FEMALE Siberian Husky who you probably saw earlier in the boards who was initially called Bobby but she later picked Isis as her name. That should of been our first clue! Isis Queen of the House or AKA - Human Baby, DIVA, and the best one of all - Devil Dog. All names that fit appropriately as you can tell. I love Midnight - have you gotten any other dogs?

Hey Lisa, what I can I, great minds think alike!!! :lmao:
I believe the original question was how much did they increase from year 1 to year 2. So 200% would be correct for 150. When looking at the increase, you need to back out the denominator.
If you are looking at what percent of the prior year you produced in the second year, then yes, 100 would be 200% and 150 would be 300%.
So are you saying that Lisa and I are also Correct......we're just answering a different question? Thank you! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yep, the 150/50 = x% is correct IF you wanted to find out what percentage 150 is to 50.
But if you want to find the percentage difference (or change in percent) of the two numbers then you need to use the formula:
........EndAmount - StartAmount
%Chg = -------------------------- X 100%
...............StartAmount
OK, that makes sense...so you would find the overall percentage then subtract the original 100% of the first year. :goodvibes

I shoot at the maximum image size and at the lowest compression my DSLR will capture. I would encourage you to do the same - especially if you crop or manipulate your images - or want to manipulate them in the future.

This is an older picture. The dog on the right isn't with us any more. We lost her very strangely when she was 10 months old. The dog on the left is 12 1/2 years old and sucks rug to this day.
No, they're not chewing. They're nursing the rug.
You win. Gracie doesn't do that. But she does like to make all her fuzzy blankets nude. She pulls all that stuff. same with tennis balls.
Love the picture they are beautiful. The lighter white blanket. I need one of those. Gracie loves that type of fabric. Haven't been able to find one. She use to have a toy that was made of that type of fleece and she wore it down to about 3" piece that she carried around all the time.

Crash you are a wonderful man and your sentiment was so accurate and beautiful that it would cheer anyone up, and make all of us stop for a moment and take stock. Thank you :grouphug:
I'm awake a little early today as my down comforter has sort of seperated from its' cover ... and I got the comforter cover WITHOUT the down blanket while my "companion" here has the down comforter sans cover (mostly)... leaving me unfairly chilled. The house heat is not programmed to come on for another hour or so. Which has me freshly awakened and somewhat chilled about 1" deeper under my skin then I'd normally like... IE ... I'm just about half frozen, fully awake but warming/thawing under a redistributed set of blankets and down quilt.
By my normal standards this leaves me unnaturally awake and online to silently surf... when I wandered across your kind reply to my posting earlier. So, I now find myself freshly compelled to draft this reply in thanks - and I'm sticking an arm out into the chill air so I can type two handed as I'm at such an angle as to normally have just one hand reaching out from under the covers to handle my cursor control pad! But just the same... while my one exposed arm is chilling in the cool air I had to say your warm remarks were sort of a nice thing to see this morning when otherwise I might find myself grumbling just a little over having the down comfortor "stolen" in the nite from me!
Imagine, all that just to say "it's freezing cold this morning, but I'm pleased my words warmed your soul the way your remarks bouyed me with a little warmth this chilly morning." Thanks... now I'm gonna wander about an' play a little more with the ketchup now... Never you mind the castupy mess thats' about to ensue... <shivering chuckles>

If you make 50 the first year and the second year you would have raised 100% of what you did the first year. If you made 100, you would have raised 200% of what you did the first year.

I parked once at Philly Airport, and I'll NEVER :sad2: do it again!!! Luckily, we only live about 15 minutes from the airport, so if we can't find someone to drop us off, we call Rapid Rover airport service.
Normally we fly out of either Albany or Stewart and park the car or truck for the time we're gone. I've already decided that I'm not parking my car for 18 days in an airport so my mom and her SO are going to take us and pick us up. Now we just have to decided which airport we're flying out of - I'm guessing it might be JFK or Newark as I want to try and get a non-stop that leaves latish and isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. Coming home from Orlando we can fly right into Stewart non-stop without a problem on either JetBlue or AirTran, or into Albany non-stop on Southwest.

Eewww. Thanks, but no thanks! I'll stick to getting high on life! ;)

I've forced myself to budget for dry cleaning my work clothes (dress shirts and pants). I rationalize by looking at some of my older clothes and seeing how faded they are and say I am extending the life of the clothes. I am sure I am not breaking even, but between time spent washing, drying and ironing dress shirts, I feel better.
And our local dry cleaner is a sweet Korean lady and gives discounts to frequent customers (and lollipops to the Princess).

With everyone talking about their poochies, and showing pics, I'd like to share what I have as the wallpaper on my laptop. This pic is of our beloved Midnight who is no longer with us, but he was one sweet and loveable doggie. We called him our buddy buddy. In this pic, he laid on the floor with this cup on his head for about 30 minutes without moving. I miss my buddy buddy. :sad1:

Fighting Illini Move Past Penn State Into Big Ten Quarters
Illinois prevails 66-60 in opening-round matchup.
Congrats to the Chief-less Illini. (Can they still be the Illini, or do they have to come up with a new nickname?)
My Ramblin' Wreck lost in double overtime to (ugh) Wake Forest last night. Now to sit and wait and see if we still make the big dance.

good advice.. maybe we need a download party in the evening. at sessions after dinner..:woohoo: pirate:
We did that on our last cruise. Of course we only had 3 couples. But we still amassed a huge quantity of pictures. Usually we would have a little slide show of pictures in our cabin between dinner and the shows. Also, as a side note, we were able to use Skype on the laptop in the cabin to call home for free. It was nice to talk to the kids while we were gone.
Early to bed, early to rise. I was up at a little after 6:00....that IS early for me!
Yeah? Lucky you. I'm jealous. It was late to bed for me and early to rise, with hardly any sleep in between. This stupid medicine for the cough is keeping me awake. Haven't really sleep in a couple nights but I am starting to feel better. I just need to stay awake during the day to enjoy it.

WOW!!! that is crazy!!!
My ds is much more introverted than my dd. He takes piano & clarinet, and in the summer he runs track. His real passion is drawing. He doesn't go anywhere without a sketchpad.
Dd is another story!! She wants to do every sport/activity she can. She is never too busy. We can have 3 activities/games in a day, and she'll want to know "okay, what's next?"
My kids could not be more different.

Ash has a blankie like that, I bought it at PetsMart. I also get a catalog in the mail and have ordered from them online....and wouldn't you know, my mind just went blank and I can't think of the name of it. Oh! In The Company of Dogs.

:sad2: I listened to the game, it was ugly. We normally go up for the games. We really enjoy the tournament and some pregame time at the Winking Lizard. Just working to pay for the TOAL and the team had been seriously underpeforming, so I was pretty sure it wouldn't be worth the time and money.

And my personal favorite line from the movie is when Shelby sayd "Pink is my signature color."

If it has to be dry cleaned or ironed I DON"T BUY IT! I don't have time to bothered with that!

I come from a very loud Mexican family (I'm 1/2 Mexican from my dad's side) and on Holidays everyone is yelling across the room, dancing, etc....a lot like her family in the movie. My dh's family is very calm & quiet.
I could not breath during the scene in the movie when it flashed from her loud family to sitting quietly with his parents. I'm sure no one in the theatre could understand why my dh and I were laughing so hard at that.....It was just such a perfect representation of our lives.....In fact, that's exactly what most of our home videos look like.... from one extreme, to the other....

Between my spouse and I she's the smart one...
... she always got better grades in college then I (in the same classes) plus she served on her high schools' "Math-a-lete" team. She always threw the math and science class curves... when the tests were extremely hard and everyone was scoring in the teens or maybe just into the 20s she would score a very high 90 (like a 98 or 99). Chemistry, Biology, Math... she aced them all (almost). Me... I couldn't cheat my way into an "A" but generally squeaked by on my "B"s and possibly an occasional "C". SO... I guess that makes me the dumb one in the family... <chuckles> ... but I still made more $ then she did. Well... not anymore.
