Ding ding ding ding ding. It was from "Rumpole of the Bailey" and was the name Horace called Hilda.

Thanks, I knew I had heard it before. I use to get a catalog from PBS with t-shirts and videos. I think they had a t-shirt that had that on it.

Spied those AT3 bags and what do you know? They are indeed the 32" rolling duffels that I was going to buy online for $140. Albeit the ones we bought are the 2005 model but hey, they were only $70 EACH!!!!  Alas they only had two in stock but then we remembered...we have over a year to get the other one!

So now, if my advanced planning holds, we'll only need the 3 duffels, two carry-ons (for embarkation) and the DadGear bag and we'll have FULL use of the closet space! The duffels stand up on end BUT that end part folds down so they will be nearly flat and can slide under the bed! :cool2:

While we are not happy with their current school, our Church school is not necessarily better. The test scores are not that great and DS wouldn't have the AG opportunity at all. We are hoping that changing them next year will help both of them.

So Lisa, you have the opportunity to switch public schools??:confused3

Yesterday was crazy with the snow! We had a few flurries in the morning, then by afternoon, it started snowing like crazy with lots of wind. Weird thing was it only lasted about 10 minutes. Welcome to my world. My DS is 11 and he's so tall I have to buy adult everything. Jeans = 32 x 32, Shoes = 8.5, Shirts = M!
Yes, my world too. We were on vacation for 3 weeks last July, Ending in Mississippi for a wedding. Had packed all our clothing for the wedding having had DS 13 try on everything. By the day of the wedding we had to go to Goody's to buy him all new clothes. Mark took him in dressing room with clothes in next size up and spent about 1 hour going back and forth to get the next size, then the next. DS went from size 14 to men's 32 x 32 and M shirts. In two and 1/2 Weeks!!!!

Now that's a sweet pic of brother and sister!!! :goodvibes

pansmermaidzlagoon
02-19-2007, 08:54 PM
So we get this FRANTIC phone call from our old neighbors across the street on Sunday. "There are people in your house!" huh? We (finally) got an offer on our house, made a counter offer and struck a deal! :yay: It's been on the market since late November. I shouldn't complain, other houses in our old neighborhood were on the market long before ours...and still are! :sad2: Closing is slated for Feb 28.

Anyway, the problem is that now that the house is under contract, NOBODY should be in there!! There shouldn't be any open houses and certainly no other real estate agents should be using the lockbox to get in! ***?!?! We had a $200 gas/electric bill for an EMPTY HOUSE last in December because some http://mazeguy.net/angry/censored.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/angry/censored.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/angry/censored.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/angry/censored.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/angry/censored.gifhttp://mazeguy.net/angry/censored.gif decided to turn the thermostat up to 80 degrees!!!!!! http://mazeguy.net/angry/fiery.gif

So now I'm thinking "great, we got squatters or something" (it's happened to my dad). Call our realtor and she's not answering her cell phone :headache: Finally get ahold of her assistant and she knows NOTHING about anything....:headache: :headache: :furious: Meanwhile, our DFriend and neighbor--who is a one-woman Neighborhood Watch--is all set to call a SWAT team on these people!

Today I get a call from both the office manager at the real estate office and our relocation officer...
THEY CLOSED ON THE HOUSE EARLY!!!!!
:cheer2: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :cheer2:

Evidently the buyers and their bank were ready to go early and contacted Relocation and our realtor. :hyper2: But "early" was Feb 20...but since all the title reports were done and everything was clear, they decided to proceed even earlier (the moment the offer was accepted, Relocation "bought" the house from us) because there was no reason to wait! So what happened was our agent got a call from their agent wanting the keys to the house! Our agent didn't realize that the deal was done until they verified with the title company that yep, transaction is complete, title deed reissued and funding was done in 24 hours...it's a done deal!!!!! :yay:

:woohoo: Congratulations!!! that must be a good feeling!!!:)

Before I slip away...

Here is my latest installment of ...

SEVEN PIRATE QUESTIONS

1) The last movie you saw ... WHICH U liked?
2) Your last "real date".... where did ya go?
3) Motorcycle or soap box racer?
4) Lobster or a nice big Steak?
5) given a choice... would you and your usual party go for voyage in a Roy Suite, or 3 voyages in a veranda.... or 7 voyages in a window suite?
6) What was (or will be) for dinner tonight?
7) TOday ... did you wear Sneakers, Pumps, FLip flops, or what?

<chuckles>

OK... now that my FAKE diversion failed to divert anyone from the Pirate sprint... I'll answer my original diversion queries...

1) I can't remember what I saw in the theater last which I really liked... so I'll just say STAR WARs episode 3.

2) Last date was the saturday before Valentines day... we joined our church for an organized date nite. It was just a dinner at Peppe Di-Bucos (totally misspelled) and we entertained ourselves with embarassing diversions... like singin' to our spouses in fron t of EVERYONE... well... we were in teams... and some other silly things.

3) Soap Box Racer...

4) It's Lobster for me ... and it was deliberately an either or challenge

5) 7 windows .... no hesitation ...

6) Dinner is about to be made... it will be left over chicken and stuffed salmon from Costco

7) Bare foot today... I never stepped outside. My kids were not well last nite and this morning so I forced an inside and sheltered day. Besides it was raining last nite and early this morning. I have NO IDEA what it was like outside. But my kids are NOT coughing anymore... no temperatures... and they had a somewhat restful sheltered time of it.

And now I'm off to cook supper. I'll maybe return to lurk and terrorize again ... and then again... maybe it's less Pirate terrorizing and really more drooling on the keyboard, eh?

potentially... g'nite folks! It's been a nice day spent here in the company of so many pleasant souls.... plus one psychotic one.

Time off? First of all, why aren't they paying for your time off AND for the exams...it benefits them, no? My exam was on a Saturday but they paid for my refresher class and the exam fee (but only if you pass ;)). Only the one exam, 5 hours long...recert in 3 years. But now they may want me to get another cert and that exam is in June :sad2:

Well...yes it is part of my career track (just not for my government job). I'm sitting for 3 of the 5 exams for RLA (registered Landscape Architect) Why? well, it's always been my goal...so even though i'm in planning. It is one of my career goals.

So the local government won't pay for it or to keep my registrations active.
The first three exams, i paid for when i was still out in the private sector working last year. Since i paid, i might as well take them. There are two more exams to take but they are the hardest and aren't multiple choice.

Our last baby, my DS (only boy!) who is now 13, was born almost two months early, because I had a very rare disease. We had to take him a.s.a.p. Anyway......he still managed to weigh 8 lbs 5 oz at birth and was 21" long! Small wonder he's now 5'9" and only 13!

DD was kinda the same way.... She was born four weeks early and was 6lbs 10.5 oz and 21 inches. Now at 13 is 5'9" also and womens shoe size 11. (amazon).

She was in the hospital for 5 days with me (c-section birth due to her losing the map). She had some trouble feeding and was jaundice a little but not enough to need treatments. We looked like a funny pair. Me, stark pasty white and DD having that good tan....

She didn't stay little very long...but it was scary at first...

Oh yeah and she was born with a smooshed nose because of being up under my rib the whole time. The ENT doc said to just push it over a little every day and eventually it did get un-smooshed.

So Lisa, you have the opportunity to switch public schools??:confused3

Of course we can always petition to change their school but now it is much easier because the school hasn't met goal with the NCLB mess. Finally it is good for something! :thumbsup2 We have the right to send them to any school we want now without question.

Deanna you'd have to really know me to know that question is a laugh riot!! I make nothing.......I can't even boil water..............I don't even own an iron Right Capt.?. I believe I bought it in Party City (a party store). DH thinks it was WDW. I did buy it to celebrate my Bday at the Mickey's Halloween Party. That's why my memory is Party City where I bought our costumes, and DH memory is WDW where I wore it. But I bet if you googled it you'd find it online. I love mine and use it for everyone's BDays - even the stinky teens. (secretly they like it too)

This week I'm riding a Pink Buddy 125cc Scooter:moped: made by Genuine. She'll do 60mph,no problem. I'm getting her cleaned up and ready to put on consignment this week. Kevin bought a 250 QLink Legacy in Nov. and I fell in love with it, now I want one.
Yes, it's a Chinese bike but they have a pretty good reputation and besides,it's fully Automatic, No Shifting!!! He paid $3300. for it and it looks so cool. His is black, I'm undecided between the black and a silver one.
I dumped mine last summer, got a pretty good case or road rash. Didn't help I was wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt. No stitches, full face helmet. I now have chaps and a leather Mickey Mouse jacket.

I'll post pics when I get my new one.
What do you ride? I have a cousin in Wisc. Her and her DH both ride Harleys, sorry, don't have that kind of "scratch".

A tissue warning is advised if you care to read. I needed them as I wrote the Reader's Digest condensed version of our story........(buckifan said I should put the tissue warning in bold red letters, so I'm taking her advice).........

.......we were married about two years and decided to try to start a family. After 4 months of trying we found out that we were expecting our first child the following May. The day before my 22nd birthday in April 1977, Hazel went into labor and off to the hospital we went. Upon having an exam, the nurse asked Hazel the last time she felt life. We were young, caught up in the moment not thinking anything of the question. A short while later I was told that I could go into the changing room to get ready as Hazel would be going into delivery very soon. When I came out, Hazel was already moved to the delivery room and I was told I couldn't go in due to complications. The next words I share were words that I will never forget and are eched in my memory forever. I heard Hazel ask if the baby was OK, the nurse replied, "The baby is dead." The doctor arrived a few minutes after Kristen was delivered, and I had the task of telling my in-laws the news, as they were in the Father's Waiting Room. My mom and step-dad arrived at the hospital a few minutes later.

We tried again and again for another child, but to no avail. We went through years of fertility treatments, and finally the fertility specialist gave us a 1/2 of 1% chance of ever having another biological child. After hearing this news, we finally gave up on all fertility treatments and put everything in God's hands. We decided if He wanted us to have a child, then He would provide it.

In 1988 were we contacted about a young girl who was 6 months pregnant and was asked if we would be interested in adopting her child after it was born. We went through the last 3 months of the pregnancy with her. In February 1989 a baby girl was born as Hazel and I sat in the Father's Waiting Room (the same Father's Waiting Room I was in 12 years earlier), only to be told that the child had less than a 20% chance of survival. The baby girl was rushed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and we didn't know if we would ever get the chance to see her. After three long days of testing on the baby, and with the birth mother's permission, we were allowed to visit our daughter. We met with the doctors and were advised it did not look good for our daughter. We found out that she was born with a form of dwarfism. The birth mother let us name our baby Barbara Jean(BJ). BJ fought long and hard, had a major surgery, an infection set in, and within a month she lost her battle and died a few days after Mother's Day 1989. The birth mother allowed us to bury BJ next to our daughter Kristen. The entire time BJ was at CHOP, the birth mother only came twice, once to sign for the surgery, the second to remove BJ from life support, other than that, Hazel and I took care of all of BJ's needs. We made daily visits to the hospital for the 12 weeks she was there.

On September 16, 1990 we received a call about a baby girl that was born the night before in Oaxaca, Mexico and were asked if we would be interested in adopting her. After 7 months, and 4 trips to Mexico we were finally able to bring Angelina home with us, and she has been the apple of her daddy's eye ever since, even when she drives me up a wall.

I don't know why I felt the need to share this, but it helps with my healing even after all these years.

Andy --

Thank you for sharing (I holding my tissues). We have many friends that have adopted and are so thankful for the blessing those children are (even when they are a pain). Wish more and more folks would open their hearts to these kids.:cheer2:

I'm feeling that way too Deb....Only my car is trapped in the ice....

UPDATE: good news...The ice melted enough by afternoon that my DH got my car out of it's ice prison..... Now i will be able to get out later this week when i'm cleared to drive....:yay:

BTW Deb.... You'll have to tell me the +/- of having a moped. I only live 4 miles from work and i'm dying to get one. Hoping for spring 08.

Can't think of any real minuses, per sae. Other than cold or wet weather and the idiot cagers that don't see you. And by the way,it's a Scooter. Mopeds you have to peddle first to get the engine to start, this one you just turn the key, give it some gas and go. It's a Pink Buddy 125cc, made by Genuine Scooter Co. I've had it since June of last year(27th Anniversary present from Kev). This one is fully automatic so there's no clutch,no shifting. I paid $2700 for it,2 year warranty and free road side service. One of the pleasures I get from driving it is the looks and comments that I get from people, especially while I'm sitting at a light. I had a lady today that couldn't get her car parked fast enough before I went into Target. She came running up and wanted to know if she could take a picture of it! What really got her was the "Tinkerbell"decal I have on the front of it:) It gets about 90 miles per gallon and will do 60 no problem.

Incidentally,I'm cleaning her up and getting ready to put her on consignment this week....Kevin got a bigger bike in Nov. and now I want one.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.:thumbsup2

While we are not happy with their current school, our Church school is not necessarily better. The test scores are not that great and DS wouldn't have the AG opportunity at all. We are hoping that changing them next year will help both of them.

Well, you get the picture. He wanted us to sing them, but I was laughing too hard. I could barely speak!

Mary that's hysterical those Elvis vows. Can you remember any more of them?

We had about 750 students in my graduating class. The class started out a little larger, but dropped off as the years went by.

Wow! That is very big!!

I went to Central Catholic HS in Toledo, Ohio and graduated with about 350...we thought our school was big!

I never heard of them being called scooters. We call them all skorts here.:confused3

Skorts have the skirt flap in the front but look like shorts from the back. Scooter skirts have the skirt going all the way around & the shorts sewn in. :thumbsup2

They must all be here in my house!

I can't imagine the flip-flops and the dresses - it totally ruins it for me. But then again, I can't stand to see people out in public (ie shopping, movies, dinner) in their PJ's.

So you won't be joining us for our PJ breakfast??:confused3

Thanks Lisa.....I didn't make it (couldn't make it is more like it) I believe I bought it at Party City or DH say WDW. I going to look on the internet see if I can find one. I believe for the crafty, this wouldn't be hard to make. It's a regular headband covered in felt with felt cutouts of candles attached.

<chuckles>

1 - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - not so much a great movie but it was hilarious (and of course Johnny Depp is in it)

2 - hmm...hard one, been a long time since I was on a date, I think maybe Hooters. Seriously I met someone who had just moved to CA and had never been to San Francisco. So we were exploring SF and Pier 39 and that's where Hooters is.

3 - MOTORCYCLE

4 - Lobster on the barby

5 - as many as I can baby, 7 in a window suite

6 - Pizza and beer

7 - Crocs....gotta love the ugly clown shoes

Lisa --

Have you seriously considered homeschooling? It's no suprise that our area is one of the largest homeschooling areas in the country. Lots to do, lots of support, and you'll be able to make sure your kids get the education they deserve . . .

I have and DS is a selfmotiated learner. I think that he would excell with one of the online groups and me to suplement at home. DD on the other hand, just wouldn't work with me teaching her. We just clash too much & I am not able to help her. I didn't teach DS. My only contribution was the brain cells I gave him since I was also an early reader and independant worker. If we are pushed to it, I will do my best. I have a BA so would qualify but doubt my ability to give my kids the best education myself.
