So I'm trying to get the darn pipe under my bathroom sink unscrewed, but the nuts (or whatever you call the things that you unscrew), are SO tight that when I pull on the wrench to try to loosen them, the whole sink pulls too! I called my dad and asked him if there's a way to get them loose so I can unscrew them or should I keep tugging. He told me to stop, unless I want to rip the sink off the wall! ;) He tells me what he does is use a propane torch on it because the extreme heat makes it easier to unscrew. Doesn't sound right to me because things expand with heat, so I'd think that would make it tighter, but he says it's what works for him, so I should at least try. But I don't think this is a good idea because I frequently burn my fingers trying to light candles. Somehow, using a torch in such a tiny area doesn't seem very smart. I'm not interested in having to out my homeowners insurance! :scared:

for tomorrow. I think we have plans Sat at Tony's 2:40.
I was hoping to sneak in a trip to ESPN to watch the Heisman presentation. I am not sure how early we are getting to MK or if we have a breakfast. I got the plans all screwy and have to look through my emails.

I won't buy a formal until they are on sale. If I don't find one that I like them I will wear one of the ones I already have.
I got a discount price on mine....originally it was $140 and I got it for $83...not bad. I just happened to see it and loved it so I went for it!

Well I had a very enjoyable evening last night at DTD.
I went and picked up Jackie, Peggy, and sil Pam from Saratoga Springs....they gave me a quick tour of their 2 bdrm villa --- very nice, and then headed over to DTD.
We had dinner at Wolfgang Puck's Express over by the Christmas shop and spent alot of time laughing. :rotfl2: These women are a hoot!! It was Pam's first time at WDW, and her first DCL cruise starts today. Peg & Jackie together--wow! They give it as well as they get it! It must be amazing to have that type of relationship w/ one's sister.
Peg & Pam deserted us to go see La Nouba, so Jackie & I just walked around DTD then sat...talking all the while. I am SO glad that I finally got to meet her! I've "known" her since 2004, but it was wonderful to put the name with the face....what a warm woman!
I also got to meet some of the people that they're sailing w/ today...I don't remember everyone's names but there was Linda, Janice, Bea, Bea's sister and brother. They are going to have such a blast on this cruise!
I will post pics tonight....I have one of the sisters, 1 of me w/ Jackie & Peg, and 1 of me w/ Jackie.
What a great night.....can't wait to see the pics!

I haven't thought too much about the clothes for this trip yet. I did buy a dress of ebay that I think can be used for formal night....I'll have to take a pic and post it that way you can give me your opinions.
I know where I want to buy my pirate costume from but just need to get it.
Yes! Post a pic of your dress, we all want to see!
I got a pirate costume for the halloween cruise so I'm all ready to go for this one!

Ya know I'm so ready for this trip, even my bags are packed. I just have to send to the laundry and repack. But what's going to happen is.....by the time 5 months pass I'll lose more weight and nothing will fit and I'll be scrambling at the last minute to buy all new clothes, even the pirates costume that I have. That will be just my luck, I think I'm ready but will be going crazy just before we leave because I'll have to replace everything. I hate last minute rushing, I like to be prepared well in advance. I just won't be able to do so this time because I'll have to wait and see what size I'll be wearing when May gets here.

I even bought myself a nautical bag from the Bitten line for boarding...I figure it will hold swimsuits, passporter and everything else for that day!
linkie please. I'd like to see this....
I forgot that I bought new pants and shirts for DH when they were on sale at the outlets. Lots of Tommy Bahamas!
nice...I'd love to get some TB for DH, haven't ever seen them at outlets...
Even got DH 3 Mickey Mouse ties!
grabbed a mickey cumerbund last week on ebay...
Sounds right. Almost every kid I've ever known has needed the size above their age, right from birth. :thumbsup2

Naturopathic Physician http://www.naturopathic.org/
Naturopathic medicine (also known as naturopathy) is a school of medical philosophy and practice that seeks to improve health and treat disease chiefly by assisting the body's innate capacity to recover from illness and injury. Naturopathic practice may include a broad array of different modalities, including manual therapy, hydrotherapy, herbalism, acupuncture, counseling, environmental medicine, aromatherapy, nutritional counseling, homeopathy, and so on. Practitioners tend to emphasize a holistic approach to patient care. Naturopathy has its origins in a variety of world medicine practices, including the Ayurveda of India and Nature Cure of Europe. [1] It is today practiced in many countries around the world in one form or another, where it is subject to different standards of regulation and levels of acceptance.

About laundry on the Cruise, let you know that it was terrible on Med Cruise.
I back off and took all dirty clothes home!!
My mother in law was up very early morning and got her some washing done.
Some people were very selfish with the laundry. One lady used all tumble dryer and left one lady who was waiting for hours. I feel sorry for her as she said that that woman put one trainers in one tumble dryer:scared1:
Next Cruise for 15 days - I will have to do some washing. I am hoping it go smoothly. In UK there have small washing powder like two in silver bag.
My friend went to Med Cruise in June and she brought the box of washing powder and lots of usa people used it and thought it was great. I understand that USA use big washing powder!!
I am thinking to bring it with us:rolleyes: As we will be staying in LA for 3 nights so have to do washing clothes.

Last Med Cruise, we had a lunch then our childrens went to pool, we relaxed and had a cocktail to cheer together. Then meet people at Promenade Lounge then off to Fire Drill.
Next Cruise in May 08, depend on childrens what they want, if they want pool, fine we will let them fun then get ready for fire drill then SAILING AWAY PARTY.

Not us! The pools are always so crowded. We walk around the ship and check things out. Being that my DH hasn't been on a DCL cruise my DGS is planning on giving him a tour. We are always in our cabin and unpacked by the LB drill so all we have to do after is to hit the deck for the party!

My friend emailed me to tell me that Eastbound Panama Cruise have some cancellations there.
I am very surprise to hear that as I remember that on Med Cruise, one staff told me that long waiting list had been dropping off.
mmm. I think that Eastbound will be full of childrens and I don't think Westbound will have full of childrens? Maybe I am wrong *** Eastbound - lots of children are on school holiday.
Westbound - lots of children still going to school?

I'm not sure as this is the first 2 week vacation we have taken. I do know I plan on using their laundry service to get things pressed so he can wear some pants a couple times...
My Jack (Sharks fan) is the exact opposite -he is the odd ball. His waist is so little he can wear size 4 in shorts (he is 7, going on 8 in May). It is so hard to find pants that fit him...even the ones you can make tighter sometimes can't get tight enough or they are uncomfortable.
How do you know she is getting engaged??? Is it a surprise that you are in on? I saw one couple get engaged and all her friends were their and knew...that seemed cute, although not sure I'd want my friends to know before me!![/quote]
She knows too just not exactly when and where. She picked out the ring and the only weekend they have off together this month is the weekend of th 15th. They are renting a cabin in Pigeon Forge. He will ask sometime that weekend. Only, them and my DH and I know! They have only been dating for 4 months. He is a really sweet guy and really care about her!:cloud9:

Hi,
My DH and I just returned today from the 4 night Wonder, and while on board we booked the Westbound Panama cruise. They said the had just had a block of rooms open up. We are booked for main dining, Cat 5 room, and I think we got a special rate for booking while already on a cruise. I am new to this board, but found the Wonder board so helpful. Since I am late getting here, I don't know if I will get through all 1000+ pages.:) , but am wondering if there is any place to get a lot of the info anyhow. We are so excited about going thru the canal. I will appreciate any info anyone has. We have only been on the Wonder just now, and a Carnival cruise about 20 years ago. We are older..my DH is a young 60, and I am a sometimes young;) 52year old. Thanks.....Vicki

Welcome! Don't even try and read all the previous posts, just join in now. Page one has some info on it and there is a separate site that has a little more on it. You have to get a password for it. Read page 1 and it will tell you how. There really is no info on this cruise just what we are finding out that happened last time. We are spending the time just getting to know each other now. Excursions are suppose to be out early Jan. The board is split between the young ones and us 50+ers, so ya'll fit right in.
My group consist of me, DH who knows nothing about this cruise, DD and DGS.

Anyone know when Marilyn was due home? I was thinking about her the other day.
Our weekend trip was cancelled, :sad2: because the coasts here in WA and OR are still such a mess from the storm. Our condo still has no power and so they called us up this am to cancel. Hi,
My DH and I just returned today from the 4 night Wonder, and while on board we booked the Westbound Panama cruise.

WELCOME to all the new groups who are joining us!
V....have a great time this weekend! Say hi to everyone from us! :thumbsup2
Anyone know when Marilyn was due home? I was thinking about her the other day.
Our weekend trip was cancelled, :sad2: because the coasts here in WA and OR are still such a mess from the storm. Our condo still has no power and so they called us up this am to cancel. Now, we have to decide if we let the kids stay home tomorrow like we had told them or if we make them go to school since we are now home.
Marilyn and John got off the Wonder today. Not sure exactly when their flying home though.
Sorry about your weekend plans were cancelled, but hopefully your fill in plan will be just as fun though.

Paul called me today....from Orlando...to tell me that he was on the way to the Space Center to watch the launch....:sad2:
What a stinker
We had a few words about Wilson and I going with him, too much work, no time to fun... you've heard it before....then he sticks his foot way in his mouth with today's call.
The launch was scrapped and he tells me he wants to take the kids in May.
So turning lemons into lemonade anyone wanna have an outing on Friday before we cruise to Space Center??? I'll look into what we can do as a group if we get enough interest. Let me know.....
I still want to do the Priate/Princess event that night if it's on. Am I crazy, are these places too far away to enjoy both in one very full day before we set sail???
We are staying at Hyatt MCO, so that would be our leave and return points.

We are staying at Hyatt MCO, so that would be our leave and return points.
We spent the entire day at the KSC, arriving directly after we disembarked from the Magic and picked up our car at the Radisson. The complex opened at 9:00 AM and closed at 6:00 PM. Depending on when the Pirate and Princess event starts, you may be able to do both as it takes about 45 minutes back to WDW.
http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/visitKSC/index.asp
We purchased internet tickets at this site: http://www.kennedyspacecentertours.net/tours/tourDetail.cfm?tour_id=1904
There are so many things to do, such as tour Kennedy Space Center, visit the Astronaut Hall of Fame, have lunch with an Astronaut and take the NASA Up-Close guided tour.
The Complex admission tour includes This day at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex includes the Kennedy Space Center Tour of NASA's Launch Headquarters, two IMAX films, all shows and exhibits, and a visit to the Astronaut Hall of Fame. The tour includes stops at the four-story LC-39 Observation Gantry where you get a bird's eye view of the Space Shuttle launch pads and parts of the world's busiest space launch facility.
The second tour stop is the acclaimed Apollo/Saturn V Center, where you will walk beneath a massive Saturn V rocket, relive Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon, and experience the thunderous rumble of a Saturn V moon rocket lift off.
Your day continues with IMAX movie screenings of "The Dream is Alive," where you experience life in space, or "Space Station 3-D," which takes you on a virtual trip to the International Space Station in a fully immersive big-screen environment.
You may also enjoy the many other shows and exhibits at the Visitor Complex, including a chance to meet a real astronaut at the Astronaut Encounter Show, and enjoy the zany live-action show "Mad Mission to Mars 2025."
The day is topped off with a visit to the Astronaut Hall of Fame, located at the entrance to the Kennedy Space Center. This attraction features the world's largest collection of personal astronaut mementos, historic spacecraft, one-of-a-kind space legacies, and hands-on activities. You may site in a mission control console, take a virtual moonwalk, feel the pull of 4 Gs in the G-Force Simulator, and land a Space Shuttle.
This ticket allows you to do everything in one day or break up your Kennedy Space Center experience over two consecutive days.
Each guided NASA Up Close tour is narrated by a space program expert, who shares in-depth and often little-known space facts during the 90-minute "mission" past the following areas: Space Shuttle Launch Pads A and B, The International Space Station Center, The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), Shuttle Landing Facility, Crawler Transporter and Crawlerway.
The GK's wanted to do lunch with an astronaut which we throughly enjoyed though the food was not as good as on board the Magic. This lunch includes the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Admission Ticket. What was the most fun was listening to all the questions the kids asked the astronaut who in our case was Tom Jones. We bought his book and had it autographed to both John and I.

Hope this helps.

I think someone posted there is a UPS close to the port in LA, I have a feeling we will need to be using it.
When we got off the ship in Barcelona, UPS was right there in the port ready to ship things home for you.
I'm already planning to do that, but the airline limits us to 2 suitcases per person, and I'm not sure how many suitcases we're actually going to be able to transport to and from the airport. We're a lot of people plus a stroller and a wheelchair!
Ginamarie, I am so glad your DHs work problems are working out!! I love ABC News, what does your DH do? How many in your group....(you say a lot of people) and who uses a wheelchair. I have taken my mom on several cruises and she uses a wheelchair. I was surprised how easy it was to use on the ship!!
Sounds right. Almost every kid I've ever known has needed the size above their age, right from birth. :thumbsup2
My youngest daughter Gretchen is 11 years old (almost 12) and she wears size 7. She is just really small...but she packs a big punch!!

:scared: You SO impress me!! We have had a broken faucet and basically just keep going to another room to wash our hands!
After this weekend I plan on really attcking the exercise and eating healthy. I'll still have a good 5 months to work on it.

Scottishwee35
I'll try for the laundry room, but I am not going to hesitate to send the stuff either. Heckl this is our vacation!
I was referring to laundry that you send in...me personally, I have a hard time doing laundry at home let alone on vacation. Our nanny had to go to Mexico unexpectedly and I am looking at this pile of laundry and going WHAT?? My pet peeve...just can't do it. If it were up to me, I'd vote for disposable clothing - I know, not a good idea for the environment!!
is most everyone planning on the pool upon boarding? Well, after lunch, John would never miss the buffet!
Lunch then pool. LOVE the first day. Love everything about it. The embark photo, the excitement of seeing our room - no matter what room we have (from inside to a suite) I just love opening that door, the "free" food. I just love that I can eat, and eat, and eat and no bill!!
Scottishwee35
My kids are in school in May and we are pulling them out. Life is short, got to live!
I saw one couple get engaged and all her friends were their and knew...that seemed cute, although not sure I'd want my friends to know before me!!
She knows too just not exactly when and where. She picked out the ring and the only weekend they have off together this month is the weekend of th 15th. They are renting a cabin in Pigeon Forge. He will ask sometime that weekend. Only, them and my DH and I know! They have only been dating for 4 months. He is a really sweet guy and really care about her!:cloud9: Fun story - have fun!

Still lots of snow in DC!! It is so pretty. Tonight we went to the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree. They place it in the Presidental Park rigth next to the White House. We were so close that your could almost throw a stone and hit the White House. Then each state (and DC and territories) has a tree. This years theme is the National Parks. Each state decorates the tree with National State Park stuff.
President and Mrs Bush were there and lit the tree. They have Sarah Evans and several proformers from NY Broadway. Santa and Mrs. Claus also made an appearance. It was so COLD!! All of our toes felt like they were going to freeze off!!
I will try and post some pictures tomorrow. It really was a special night. I would never have done this if Vanessa had not been here!! I have lived in DC for 50 years....kinda sad this is the first time I have made the effort to get the tickets and go.

One other thought about the Lighting of the National Christmas Tree. We sang lots of Carols. one Carol surprised me..."Go Tell it on the Mountain" and one line is "that Jesus Christ is born"
I am thrilled they sang it. But it surprised me as this is Government property and how Politcally Correct our world is now.....
But I am surprised someone has sued, imagine a Christmas Tree on Government property........

My mom lives with us and of course my DH (Don).
We have been on 8-9 Disney cruises (lost count and plan to cruise again at Thanksgiving 08).

This is such a good point! I am going to bring a tree to my work - what can they say if the government does it!!!
Great idea Lisa!
I'm Monica. This will be my 4th DCL cruise (no other cruise line). Live outside of Orlando *YEAH* 38yo. Corporate Travel agent and seasonal CM at Epcot.
I forgot with my intro to include Nan's DH as one of the nice attorneys too...I'm sure there are more out there, although I personally have met quite a few with the personality of a turnip! Not sure what a turnip's personality would be but for some reason it came to mind.
:lmao: OH, don't be impressed! I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing....I just have to try! But I haven't gone out to buy the propane torch yet. I'm checking with all my friends who have husbands to see if I can find a husband nice enough to come do it for me....or at least let me borrow their stuff and tell me how to use it. :thumbsup2
And if you find that type of husband, can you send him over my way??? He could teach my DH a lesson or two! He grew up with a family that always had other people come fix things...my dad was an hands on type, but I never paid much of attention. So now we are left with neither of us knowing how to change certain light bulbs! I'm serious, there are some complicated ones out there!!:lmao:

WELCOME!
Not us! The pools are always so crowded. We walk around the ship and check things out. Being that my DH hasn't been on a DCL cruise my DGS is planning on giving him a tour. We are always in our cabin and unpacked by the LB drill so all we have to do after is to hit the deck for the party!
Not us either! Our last cruise we actually took a nap after lunch and before the lifeboat drill.
Hey to all.. I just booked this cruise yesterday.. so I am just stopping over to say hello to everyone... :goodvibes
Hi,
My DH and I just returned today from the 4 night Wonder, and while on board we booked the Westbound Panama cruise.
Welcome everyone!
This cruise is me (Lisa) and DH (Darrell). I turn 41 during the cruise and we celebrate our 17th anniversary during the cruise too. We currently live in San Diego, but are both from PA originally. DH is an archaeologist for the Navy and I'm a System Admin. This is our 4th cruise - all have been DCL.

Thank you darling, just what I needed :goodvibes
You SO impress me!! We have had a broken faucet and basically just keep going to another room to wash our hands!
I see this for some reason and have to laugh....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I was referring to laundry that you send in...me personally, I have a hard time doing laundry at home let alone on vacation. Our nanny had to go to Mexico unexpectedly and I am looking at this pile of laundry and going WHAT?? My pet peeve...just can't do it. If it were up to me, I'd vote for disposable clothing - I know, not a good idea for the environment!!
I'm with ya, I think I see a new venture...disposable clothing for busy and laundry hating moms. Having the launfry done by the nanny was the best part of having a nanny...ok, just kidding but it was really high on my list too. :rolleyes1
Never was in a sorority at Santa Clara University. Many of my friends were...something about not being able to have a beer in my home turned me off :-) But they all said I could cheat, but didn't want to trust that!! Being a 20 year old and all...
Lisa
Did we already have the what year conversation? I'm getting really bad that I can't even remember what we talked about here less than a year ago....Paul when to Santa Clara, 1983-86 under grad and '92 Law school
Goodnight Monica! I'm off to bed too. 18 rolls of Smarties tonight and I suspect going to bed is the only way I can make myself stop eating them. :lmao:
smarties...yum....I have a suprise for you I need you to pm me your address....might be our secret fishmail item...:rolleyes1

Paul's grandfather was not impressed that 2 more grandchildren decided to follow their Uncle Dick (Paul's dad) into the field of law. When one of the nieces was getting married to yet an another attorney, Grandpa is quoted as saying can't we get a good mechanic in this family, we have enough darn lawyers....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Grandpa owned the local garage that was known in the farming town in North Dakota for always being able to get the tractor back on the farm. He could custom make whatever was needed in the way of parts. Paul often talks of wishing he could have gone to engineering school instead of law school. the grass is always greener...
Wilson just wandered in and asked if he could read me one page. so sweet. Paul and he read every night together. I'm so glad they have their special time together and once in a while I get to have a little glimspe of that.
Time for nite nite.

Good morning everybody! Busy day ahead of me. My boss told me on my way out the door yesterday a bunch of things he wants done first thing in the morning. Then, still trying to get caught up from being off last week. This morning I had to shovel for the first time this winter! But, many of you have seen pics of my house and how close together the houses in my neighborhood are, so there's not much to shovel, so it wasn't a big deal. :guilty: And we only got 2 inches. I really could go without shoveling because it's not going to be a problem to walk through or drive through, but my neighbors on each side did theirs before I woke up, so it would look silly if I left mine undone.
So, off to work in a few minutes. Then a bunch of running around afterwards. Have a great day all!

Not everyone has booked their flights yet so you aren't behind on the planning. (I just booked our hotel for the night before the cruise 2 days ago.) We won't book our airfare until a week or 2 before final payment - since we need to get insurance before we make our final payment.

Oh dear, sound like similar problem which I had few months ago.
I was nervous because we did booking the flight before I wrote to my boss. I know it was wrong but as it is a long flight as the prices went up, up.
My boss never answer me and I was so scared to ask her if turn out she said NO. I was calm and upset too. I got it okay by last month and I had to get up early morning and went to the queue as first come and first serve. I was 3rd in queue and I knew myself it will be okay. YES, I got it.
Maybe you should write a nice letter and explain to your boss that you are going away to special cruise to see panama canal something like that.

By the way, how far from Raddison to Grill?
It's not far, it's on the water near the port, but there's a lot of backroads and turns when you get near the port. We'll have a car rental, so will Lisa and Darrell and they're staying at the Radisson. We can share a ride if you would like.

I can't do it tomorrow coz the office will not be open and I have to sign more papers for him plus get the new amount due for the private room. I figured I'd leave here at 1pm....no snow yet so I should be ok getting back up the driveway.

Well, Scott and I spent all night (not really) on line looking at rental homes in the area and we are off to the Hood Canal for the weekend in a 3 bedroom log cabin on 10 acres. It isn't the Oregon Coast, but I am sure we will still have a blast and now the 3 dogs can come too (we have 2 and our friends have 1). So, no school for the kids and we get a weekend away!

John decided we're flying, not driving so we're coming into Sanford and picking up a car and driving to the hotel. That kind of kills our day on Friday. Then getting to meet at Grills. Were we going to dinner on Fri night or Sat night? I thought we picked Sat night? Oh well....we can firm it up as days get closer.

You mean that for May08?
If so, we will be arriving on Thursday 8th May and stay at Raddison for two nights. Two men and my son will got to Space Center on Friday. But me and Alison, my daughter stay at the hotel - relax day. Don't know about Grill's for dinner as it sound good. Maybe we join in to get know together before going on the Cruise.

Here's an interesting tidbit which actually surprised me given, like you say, we live in a PC world and everyone tries to avoid stepping on anyone's feelings...today I volunteered in my son's kinder class. They were making poinsetta flowers and she said "I'm going to explain to you how these came to be a Christmas tradition" and she went on to explain how when Jesus was born people were bringing him gifts from all over and a poor boy didn't have money but wanted to bring baby Jesus something...and the rest I didn't hear because I was helping another mom on the homework packets however I'm assuming it's that he plucked a poinsetta flower the bring to Jesus. But I was shocked when I heard her say "Jesus" because in the PC world we live in and how "God" is being removed from everything, it's unusual to hear a public school teacher say the word "Jesus". I don't have a problem with it, but I'm sure somebody might!!

My DH managers part of the ABC News tape library. He just got a position where he's now in charge of all the digital media storage for the news division. He's also in charge of processing all the election coverage for the 2008 elections.
Let's see, we have 11 in my group: my brother and new bride, and myself and DH are all in our late 20s (though SIL will be 30 right before the cruise and DH turns 30 while we're cruising); my daughter, who will be 2 in April (+stroller); My mom (I won't list her age here ;) ); My sisters Gillian (17) and Giuliette (10); brother Grant (4); and my Grandparents who are in their 80s.
Last time we brought two wheelchairs (one for each grandparent), but I'm not sure if Grandma will want one for this cruise. If so, we'll have two chairs again. Not sure yet how we're getting everyone to the airport!
Here is a picture of our Mickey wreath! We made it last year.

Oh no!! I hope they will give you the time off. SIL still isn't sure if she's going to get the weeks off, but she's already put in her request and it SHOULD be granted. My mom has 2 jobs and one already approved her, but the other one is giving her a hard time. She threatened to quit if they don't give her the time off though, so it seems like they're going to bend on it.
We haven't booked airfare yet either. I'm waiting to see what the Jetblue rates are going to be.

I've been toying with having Chinese food for Christmas Eve this year. We had snow here today so naturally my electric is off again. Been off for about an hour. John should be home in about another hour so he can put the generator on if it's still off then. Somebody probably had an accident and hit a pole and the electric is gone again. I called the electric company to report it and they say it should be back on by 7pm the latest. I hope they're right. Usually it comes back on before the time that they give you....so just about when John is walking in the door.
Poor baby, it's Friday night and he's going to have a long ride home tonight. Plus the snow. Then he has to put the generator on and plow the driveway so we can get out tomorrow. He's going to be one tired puppy.

:scared: :scared: :scared:
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Shots were fired in the parking lot of a shopping mall Friday during an apparent holdup of an armored car, officials said.
People ran into the mall for safety after the gunfire began. Bank of America spokesman Ernesto Anguilla said the shooting was apparently related to an attempted holdup of an armored car.
“None of our associates or customers were injured,” Anguilla said.
Television footage showed three bullet casings in the parking lot of the South Mall, where police converged shortly after 10:30 a.m.
Patty Dudley, a shopper from Macungie, said she was at Stein Mart in the mall when employees ushered her and other customers to the back of the store. They told her something had happened outside and customers could not leave.
“I was just making a return and then I was hiding under a clothing rack,” she told The Morning Call, an Allentown newspaper.
Police officials did not immediately return phone messages. A spokeswoman for the South Mall was being briefed and wasn’t immediately available for comment.

Sometimes it's easier than using our driveway. Otherwise, the kid gets to walk up and get the truck then John will plow and then they can drive the car up. Winter! That's why we're heading to the beach for retirement. The winter months are much more tolerable in Delaware. No mountains and much less snow.
Then, we're still in darkness so he has to put the generator on when he gets in. Poor baby. I think he deserves Chinese food tonight.

My kids swam in swim meets for years. If the meet started at 8:00 AM, we would always have to be there by 6:30 AM to set up the Ezy-Ups, tents and for the premeet warmup. If it was an away meet, we would have to travel down the night before and get the kids to bed early.
I think the reason they start the meets so early is so the kids can at least have some time to themselves in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. The kids would work out before the meet, sleep during the meet and eat like crazy!!
When they swim year round and for the school, gets even more complicated as workouts can start very early, like 5:30 AM. The kids started doing double workouts by the time they were about 10. Our lives were always filled with sports on the weekends, traveling to and from swim meets or other sporting events. Retirement is glorious!!!

Everything is relative...in PA 30 miles is right down the road....so the mall is "right down the road" in Allentown, where your nephew is. I have been to that mall a number of times when I used to go to malls. Too close for my comfort.

This is all year round so it's at an indoor pool so at least we don't have to set up like for summer swimming. They let the 6 & unders swim first so we should be through by 10:30. This is my DGS so I am on my second go around!

Thanks! But it's not as exciting as usual because I'm out of student loans and don't even have enough for next semester. So I'm sort of in limbo for a while. :sad2: I had a few meetings with the financial aid advisor, my academic advisor, and the registrar to discuss my options on how I'm going to pay to finish. They're allowing me to take a one year leave of absence while I try to figure out how I'll come up with the remaining $50,000 I'll need to finish. :scared:

I'm so sorry to hear that. Ya know, I saw a commercial on TV about a bank that gives personal loans for college tuitions. So the terms were more lienant. I can't remember the name, I think it may have been Chase, but don't hold me to that. You could borrow up to $50k or $100k I don't remember. If I see it again, I'll take down the info for you. It just might be another option for you.
Also, does your job have any kind of reimbursement program. I used to work for a company that would reimburse you after each semester because you needed a C or better to get reimbursed. Maybe you could talk to them.
Just a few thoughts. I hope it all works out for you. I know how much you want to be finished.

My employer doesn't offer anything like that. They're a very small law firm and very stingy. The only reason I continue to work there is because of how flexible they are with my schedule.
I have applied at a couple of those type of banks for my student loans, but was turned down. Bad credit....long story. Been struggling to repair my credit for many years.
Something will work out. The school suggested I just take time to work a couple jobs, work as many hours as possible, pay down my current student loans to free up enough balance to continue, so that's what I'm going to try to do.

Sat is mani and pedi and Ron Johns....our favorite store in Cocoa Beach.

I spent some time today reading about things to do in Aruba. The beach pictures were torture as the temps here dropped and the snow came.
PJ from this cruise was sailing with you on the Magic for Halloween.....a little bit of rough seas don't cha think!
Speaking of snow, I heard on the news that Colorado got three feet. WOW! I can see why you're dreaming of Aruba!

Good Morning from the East Coast. Raining and sleeting again here right now, but the weather is supposed to warm up and just rain for the next several days.
We are leaving for Charlottesville VA soon for the Westfield final game. Should be fun!!
I hope to finish decorating tomorrow. My entire neighborhood does luminaries tomorrow night and it is beautiful. If I can, I will take pictures and show you guys.
I hope everyone has a good day. I think as soon as we get back it will be back to the hospital for Frank....DFIL.

Maybe you could find a firm to work for that does reimburse tuition, then you can pay as you go. Anything is possible!

Oh boy. An ice storm is predicted for tomorrow. Weather guy says to get anything done today that you need to do over the weekend because we're supposed to get an INCH of ice tomorrow! Yikes! I guess it's time to finally go buy some salt. Also have to rearrange the garage too so I can fit my car inside.
BUT I'm sure glad I'm not in Colorado! Holy cow!

We were pretty lucky....so far just a dusting that coated everything white, but it's less than an inch. I hope we don't get your ice storm. I hate those. Snow is much better.
Lots of errands to do today, the dog, Ray, Sandi and Joe, the tree....etc. It is after all, the Christmas season.....always busy busy!
Guess you'll be out doing errands too today before the ice hits.

Is Marilyn back this weekend? I can't wait to hear her stories. I hope she gets back soon.
Still no word from Karen, I hope she's just very busy and everything is ok.
Monica, no word from Laura yet, that's not good. I'm sad to think what that could mean.

Nope, no errands for me. It's been a relaxing week and will probably continue! Desperately need to clean my house so we can finish decorating. We both have a bad habit of coming home and dropping stuff wherever we want, so piles of clutter accumulate very quickly. Not good in a tiny house! I usually end up dumping stuff into big boxes and piling the boxes in my bedroom to deal with later. :scared1: It's just hard to clean when there's no where to put stuff. Might go buy a few giant plastic storage totes today as a temporary fix.

I just checked all my cruise reservations....STILL no assigned room number for this cruise. I got 6598 for Sept 08 cruise and just requested DU to change it to 5122 if available or close to it. I'm in 5122 for Sept 09. Wow....I have to book a year and a half in advance to get the room I want. Disney is a very popular cruise line!

I could use a few of those giant storage totes....I still have mom's stuff all over the house. I thought we would get it cleaned up for Christmas dinner at our house, then John said....since Sandi and Joe and the boys are not going to be here....let's go out to eat. OK, cool, but that doesn't get the house cleaned up. It's too overwhelming for me to do it all by myself. I definitely need help. Well, there's always next year! HA HA....a few short weeks to go!

Well, at least you don't have to worry about taking care of it right away, so that's a relief! What a great idea to go out for Christmas dinner.

I am sure Karen is just crazy busy...it is so hard to come home from vacation. Sometimes I think it is not worth it to go when you have to come back and kill yourself.....
I am worried about Laura as well. I hope there is some type of comminication sometime soon. All we can do for her now is pray for her,

All the leaves will be covered in snow...forget raking this weekend!
Actually, we avoided the snow! The skies cleared up last night and we're not expecting any today. Phew!

So what exciting plans do you have for the week-end?
Brent has a swim meet at 8am tomorrow. I don't know why they have to be so early! Then we are going to lunch and after for new shoes. We have dinner plans tomorrow night with the family across the street. Not that I really want to, but kinda have to a couple of times a year. Do not like their daughter! The only child that I have ever met that I can find nothing good to say about. And she's only 8. Almost feel sorry for her as none of the kids have anything to do with her. I blame the parents for most of it.
Ugh, I hate when they make things early like that. In high school, they used to schedule our hockey practices at 6:30 am on Saturday mornings. Yuck!
I feel bad for children like that too.
So I went on ebay to find V's nautical bag because I loved it so much. I found it but none were available. So I bought a different bag from the Bitten line. I love Bitten....it's Sara Jessica Parker's collection and everything is affordably priced. She's got some great casual, everyday clothes and accessories and ebay has lots of them listed. Oh boy. I could get in trouble now.:confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Oh don't tell me that! I'll be getting into trouble too. Aren't we all supposed to stay OFF ebay?:rotfl:
I usually use a Vera Bradley bag when traveling. They are very light and machine washable. Most of my purses are also Vera Bradley.
I love Vera bags! I don't own any though. I always talk myself out of spending the money right before ordering.
:scared:
Oh Holly that stinks! I had the same kind of problem when I lost my law school scholarship. I wound up working a LOT more hours than we were allowed to do, missing a lot of classes, etc, but it all worked out in the end. I'll just be paying off the loans FOREVER!
Sure was nice to pay less than $3/gallon for gas! I paid $2.88 today....pleasant surprise!
Lucky!! We paid $3.19, and that was a good price around here. Over $70 to fill up my tank :(
My DFIL is hospitalized tonight. He has been short of breathe and they tested his heart today and it is not very good.
He will be in the hospital for about 2 week. He is bleeding in his small intestine and he needs open heart surgery and bypass.
Okay, I have a pretty big house BUT.....and right now I have my mom, 2 girls, 1 son coming home next week, an exchange student, 1 dog, 3 cats and a husband.....and soon my FIL will be living with us.....
I am not sure where everyone will sleep......maybe I will move to a hotel:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I'm so sorry about your FIL. I hope everything goes smoothly for him. My grandfather needed open heart surgery a couple of years ago, and once they started they realized he needed a QUADRUPLE bypass instead of just a single. He recovered pretty smoothly though, so I hope your FIL does well too.
Well, we just took some pictures of Olivia by the tree, and are hoping to turn one of them into a CHristmas card. Then DH is going to have to start working on those leaves.:rolleyes1
Nothing exciting going on with me either. I'm doing laundry and defrosting some chicken for diner. I just have to figure out what I want to DO with all that chicken.

I've been on vacation this week and can't believe I only have one more day off after today.I had hoped to get all of my Christmas shopping done but it has not happened, not even close:sad2: My DD and SIL and I left London during a snowstorm on Monday evening to go to Frankenmuth, Michagan . We were lucky, about 30 min away from home the snow cleared right up, we only had a few flurries that didn't stay on the ground after that.I love going through all the little shops there, and the huge Christmas store. We came home late Tues, so not a long trip but nice to get away for a day. My back has been bothering me for almost 3 weeks now, although it is definately better than it was the 1st few days. Anyone else bothered by back pain? I don't even know what I did this time (unless it was the raking, scrubbing walls, packing boxes over the last few weeks). I finally went to the doctor and got better meds, but now I feel tired and have stomach pains, so I may not take them much longer.I hate that I never know when this will happen, sure hope it's not during this cruise:eek:
