Ah, don't feel too bad Deb  I'm sure between now and May you might get another chance  ;) I was getting the same database error message, if it makes you feel any better. You weren't alone! However, I was just trying to get in a few minutes of reading after working late tonight, I had no idea of the suspense that was taking place here:rotfl: It's still way too slow on here for me to try to catch up, so I'll try again after work tomorrow. NO MORE WORKING UNTIL 27 DEC :santa:
I don't think I do nightshift again:sad2: As it was nightmare last night as the store started open at 7 am for 24 hours until Sunday. Crazy!!
I came home this morning at 6 am, very tired, and managed stay awake for the kids to get ready for school - last day. After they went away, I went to bed. I couldn't believe that I had a good sleep until 2.30 pm and left my key inside the door. My husband got away from his work at 12.00 and couldn't get in as I was in heavy sleeping. I cannot believe I slept right throught 2.30 pm but I feel what a waste the day!! Lucky my husband laugh at me. Yes, I feel so guilty for lock him out!!

Hi Marilyn
I got up at 7 am - a wide awake!! think my body confused now!!
My husband was sitting in the car:eek: Funny, that he was not shouting at me or angry with me. He just laugh when I saw the text from the mobile and opened the door and I was upset and cannot believe that I fall sleep after I wake up at 12.30 oh five mins more then crash out until 2.30pm.
About lock him out!
Funny, if he angry with me, I get upset and moody but he didn;t angry I feel very guilty for locking him out. He said pity no working dog yet. If I have working dog it will wake me up for door bell, telephone etc. When I switch my hearing aid off I hear nothing like silent that why I get easy sleep without hear any noise. My workmate was telling me that they woked up with noise like door bell, phone etc throught the day. But I got knock out with silent!! Strange!!
Oh well glad it is over now.
Tonight I am having a nightout with 7 ladies. Yes, we are going to have a PINK FIRE ENGINE for a hour :dance3: then go for a meals. sound FUN?
Have a nice day.

Dennis and I will be heading out in a few minutes to begin and finish our Christmas shopping. :scared: Tree is still not up. I decided not to bother, then found out the DDIL and DGS (PJ Aaron is here!) will be spending Christmas Day with us. So....Dennis said I really, really need to put the tree up. DDIL said not to worry about it. HMMMM....what to do. We will see how I feel tomorrow. DS will be in CA by himself for the holiday. :sad1: But, he did get to come up in Oct for our anniversary and DDIL and Aaron did not.
Give him a great big hug from me!

I still haven't wrapped ANY of Tyler's presents, but have plenty of time because he won't be home until probably after 6 tonight. Later than usual because of his dad's family Christmas with all Tyler's aunts, cousins, grandparents, etc. They're starting at 3, so his dad told me he'll just drop him off on their way home from the gathering. SO, I'm headed back to bed for a couple more hours. :cloud9:

I'm up too....gotta be at the post office at 9am. John is still sleeping....I don't have the heart to wake him up since he's up everyday at 5am to go to work. Unless we have something planned, I let him sleep on weekends.
Good news....he told me yesterday that the car finally came up the hill. We still can't use our driveway, but we use the farm field next door to us and get better traction. So I'll be going out on my own this morning to run my errands. I'm glad I finally am able to do so.
John said he and the kid will go to Sandi's house and clean out the few items she left behind. We got a kerosene heater from her that she won't need in FL, a pantry cabinet and a few other items.
If they drove all night they should be past South of the Border by now. South of the Border is located at the state line between North and South Carolina. It's a big exit off the highway.
Sandi and Joe should be pulling into Joe's grandmother's house, where they are now going to live, sometime around noon today. They will call when they get there to let us know that they arrived safely.

I love my new ibiza mp3 music player. I got up early today and read all about it. It's so cool. I can't play any wifi streaming music until John hooks up the new router we just had to replace. He'll do that today when he gets back from Sandi's house, then I can play with my new techno toy.
Then I'll spend hours transferring songs from my CD collection. That could take a long while.
I love my ibiza because it connects to the internet and it does music, videos, photos and podcasts. Pretty cool and it's a hot pink color too.

Good Morning,
Very tired. Stayed at the hospital till very late last night. Now that Frank is awake, he does not want to be alone. We had a very nice visit. While I was there they moved him out of CVICCCU to Step Down. It was so much nicer not to be around the very very sick people (which is what Frank was).
He will be in the hospital of about 10 more days or until the infection (C-DIFF) goes away. He is still in isolation. So we have to wear gloves, masks and gowns to visit. My hands and arms have never been washed so much!! :rotfl2:
After the transfer to the Step Down, the heart monitor started going crazy and all kinds of people came running. The top two chambers of his heart stopped. They treated this will some oral meds and within 20 minutes everything was fine.
I wonder what the long term effects will be. I wonder if his heart will ever be worry free. I guess not.....?????

Just a quick driveby post as I am getting ready to check out of my Airport Hotel to move to the Dolphin.
Saw Monica (Mishoe's) post and agree she was delightful and very thoughtful to bring me a birthday present. I was so glad to meet her and we did have a fun lunch with a "surprise" ending!!
From my email to my DH:
I had a smooth flight to Orlando where the flight attendant had the first class section sing me happy birthday and scored a bottle of wine.
Flight took off a hour and a half late so ended up spending from 10:30 AM (dropped off early by DD Samantha who had to work) until plane finally took off at 2:45 PM. I sat next to a lady Theresa and her partner with their two boys. She is the CEO and found of Graspr Inc, a direct competitor of my nephew Rob's company, Viddler. Small world, huh?
I helped them with the kids, who for a 4 year old and 4 month old were exceptionally well behave on a 5+ hour flight. My mom genes always come in handy!! Hunter, her son, wanted me to come home with them and be his "new" grandma".
The airport is great but the United section is under construction so a bit chaotic. Since I got in at 11:44 PM, it was pretty quiet!!
Slept like a rock, waking up about 8:00 AM. I went to Hertz to pick up my Yukon and of course, the radio was non functional!! The choice was to take a smaller car, so I kept the Yukon. At least it has a DVD player for the kids.
On the way to lunch at Fridays at the Crossroads with my DIS friend Monica, I got lost and had to call the restaurant. The manager got me back on track and I was only about 15 minutes late. Meet Monica and she was so sweet to bring me a birthday gift!! After a lovely lunch of a sirloin salad, I was so surprised that our sever, who had noticed and overheard the mention of my birthday, came out with a chocolate Sunday!! The servers sang me a hysterically funny Happy Birthday song which embarrassed me but I survived. We took pictures in front of the tree before we parted and I will download later.
I met another friend, Diane at DTD so we could go to WDW together. O course, it was a great excuse to go shopping at DTD as I had to pick up our Disney passes. This was important since I was going to WDW and staying afterward for the Very Merry Christmas party at 7:00 PM.
Loaded down with bags, I proceed back to the car and we were off to WDW. Boy was it crowded!! I did all my favorite rides, POC, Railroad, Tomorrowland's Transit Authority, Carousel of Progress, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and Liberty Square Riverboat.
The party started a 7:00 PM where after a 45 minute wait in line saw the Mickey's "Twas the Night Before Christmas: show at the Galaxy Palace Theater in Tomorrowland. Afterward, we lined up for the Belle's Enchanted Christmas where Belle tells the story of her Enchanted Christmas at Belle's Fairytale Gardens. Once that was over we checked out the Character Dance parties in at The Fantasyland Pavilion Cotillion in Ariel's Grotto in Fantasy Land and Cosmic Ray's Jungle Dance in Comic Ray's Starlight Café in Tomorrowland with Goofy and Pluto.
In between each event, we would stop off at the different holiday treat areas for a cup of hot chocolate and a sugar cookie.
Next came the firework and it was time to line up for the Holiday Wishes "Celebrate the Season" spectacular. We then made out way over to the Castle forecourt stage to see the Celebrate the season show. Afterward, was the Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas parade. Once the parade concluded, we headed for a bit of browsing in the shops and then off to the tram. I drove Diane back to her car which she left at DTD and I was back to my hotel by 1:00 AM!!
I need to get off the computer as I must check out.
Talk to everyone soon!!

So pleased Frank is doing well.

Lisa, this is such great news! I'm so happy that Frank is recovering well. You are so dear to stay with him for such long periods. What a special quality you have for giving. Frank is lucky to have you there. Now, remember to take five minutes for yourself too. You'll have no energy left if you don't.
Don't forget we're all here rooting for you and for more good news about Frank!
Hugs and Love to you!

Tyler should be here any minute, back from his dad's family Christmas gathering. He'll bring lots of his new stuff, which is kind of a bummer because I'm always afraid one of those items will be something Santa's bringing him, so it won't be as exciting for him when he opens it here. He does have some duplicate items at each house, and that's fine because then he can play with it at each home, but it stinks when he brings it here and then opens another of the exact same thing a couple days later. Hopefully it won't happen this year.

I did watch the Survivor finale.
No, Blake didn't call. I suspect that in his eagerness, he just didn't realize how close it is to Christmas. Nobody has time to drive 3 hours after work on the week before Christmas. ;) Plus, he still had Christmas shopping to do. And I'm sure he has Christmas gatherings too. I was way too busy this week anyway, so I'm letting it drop until after Christmas. No time to even give it much thought.

Do you think Todd should have won? Did you want him to win? I'm kind of glad he got it, as long as Courtney didn't. I'm not sure if I like her enough.
Probably best to do Christmas first then with that behind you, maybe you can spend New Year's eve together. That could be a lot of fun. Will you definitely call him after Christmas? He said he would love if you called. Maybe you just want to call and say Merry Christmas?!?

What is Tyler getting for Christmas?
Santa's bringing the Flying Dutchman to go with the Black Pearl that he got last year (the legos kind with billions of pieces), a doctor kit with white doctor coat that says "Dr. Tyler" (he's really into playing dr.), Kraaken (sp?) to go with his pirate ships (another legos thing), a space shuttle/astronaut/spaceship type playset (he doesn't have any astronaut stuff and always complains about not having any), a stuffed Sparty (MSU mascott) that dances and plays the MSU song when you squeeze his hand (he LOVES Sparty), and I think that's it. Then from me: a Sparty ornament for the Christmas tree, pair of Spiderman shoes (he's been protesting his tie-up shoes and begging for velcro or slip-ons like all the other kids have), and a stamper/ink pad/color pencil kid (because he's really into doing art projects).

No, because it's already past his bedtime, so he's likely falling asleep by now, so it's best for him to just get here and into bed. I can just exchange his shoes after he opens that present. No big deal. He'll be fine with that because he might see another pair he likes better anyway. :thumbsup2 This is the first time he hasn't picked his shoes out, so he'll likely want to pick his own.

Great price on the ship! When it comes to Brent, my dh will buy anything that he ask for even if his Mom and I say he doesn't need it! People in the neighborhood laugh and say that Toys R Us does their shopping from Brent! I doubt there is much that you can mention that he doesn't have! We could take a 7 night cruise on what we spend at Christmas!

I will have to work Thursday and Friday next week, then head back for Wednesday-Friday the week afterwards.
We have a national holiday called Boxing Day, that government, banking and some stores are closed for.

Well, I finally finished another very busy day at work.I'm off tomorrow, have to work Monday until 7:00 pm then have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off, but then work Thurs-Sat. We are open Boxing Day, but it is an "optional" day because we have a union, and it is in our contract as such. People who work it get double time, so luckily I have two of my staff who offered to work,so I won't get "guilted" into working it:rolleyes: So tomorrow I have to wrap all of my gifts, at least the shopping is done, clean my house, visit a good friend to exchange gifts, and then visit my in-laws. I'm supposed to go to an open house tomorrow night at a good friend's home, but I'm just not up to it this year.

And I'm sure he knows I tried to call because everybody has caller ID in today's world, so it's his turn now. :thumbsup2
We don't on our home phone! Heck the answer machine doesn't always work either.
Out of the three left I thought it should go to Todd. I really wanted James to win and after he was gone then Denise. Favorite moment of the season was when Jamie played her fake immunity idol. Definitely a priceless moment!
Well I better go wrap Darrell's presents while he's at the gym
I got him a new roll-behind carry-on suitcase, pedometer, books - first 2 in the Dexter series and Meerkat Manor, DVDs - Superbad and Simpson's and a calendar - Get Fuzzy.
I'm getting a 160gb iPod classic (which I have tons of questions about) from Darrell. I'm pretty sure my parents got us gift cards and so did my sister's family.

So Tyler got home about 8:00. He had a great time and brought one cool toy to show me. :thumbsup2 He wanted to bring some Christmas cookies home with him, but his dad told him only if he shares with mom! :yay: Yay! I think Tyler's aunt made them and they look yummy! We'll probably eat them ALL tomorrow! I told him the usual food rule are cancelled until after Christmas so that we can enjoy all the goodies, as much as we want! :woohoo: He was a tired guy, but very, very happy and affectionate. I'd assumed he'd come home a different kid because the horrible kid he was before he left couldn't last forever since he'd been that way for 3 days straight. It's so nice to see the good Tyler back again! I lost count of how many kisses I received! :rotfl2:

We leave "magic oatmeal" for them! Story behind that: When Tyler was 3 years old, when we went to see Santa at the mall, he asked me why he didn't see the reindeer & sleigh on the roof of the mall. I told him that maybe the reindeer just drop Santa off in the morning and pick him back up at the end of the day. He asked where they go while Santa's at the mall. I told him maybe they fly back to the North Pole since they can do it so quickly. THEN he asked me how they learn how to fly. I reminded him about the scene in the Rudolph show where they're in flying school or class or something, but told him I wasn't really sure and that maybe he should ask Santa. I was actually tired of trying to think of answers! So, sure enough, when it was his turn with Santa he asked him how the reindeer learn how to fly. Santa said, "It's a secret, but I'm going to tell you!" Then he whispered, "Magic oatmeal." :lmao:
We mix oatmeal with glitter confetti and sprinkle it on the sidewalk. I told Tyler that the moonlight reflecting off the glitter leads the reindeer right to our house. He loves mixing the magic oatmeal and sprinkling it outside before bed. :thumbsup2

Another story about the magic oatmeal: That same year (two years ago) I sprinkled Milk Duds on our porch and a few on the sidewalk after Tyler was in bed. I thought it would be funny because he'd think the reindeer left um.....you know....on the sidewalk. WELL, that backfired because he was SO MAD at those reindeer! He was really grossed out and couldn't understand why they'd do that! :lmao: It was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing and he just got even madder! I thought that would be something most boys would get a kick out of, but he was actually quite offended! :rotfl2: I told him not to worry and that I'd just shovel it up and get rid of it. He said, "Don't even think of using MY shovel for that!" :rotfl:
So last year he reminded me about those gross reindeer and told me we'd better only leave a tiny bit of magic oatmeal for them. We cut back their portion by quite a bit and they didn't do anything rude last year. :rotfl2: This year, he has already reminded me again that the reindeer can't eat very much! But finally, 2 years later, he actually laughed about it.....he said, "Mom, remember when the reindeer pooped all over our sidewalk?" :lmao:

well we are the new proud owners of pine bunk beds!! And John is putting them together now. The are hardly used at all.
Yay! I bet the girls love them! My brother and I used to have bunk beds at my grandmother's house, and we loved sleeping in them.
Kidnapped by Eskimo Aliens at the blizzard of a Browns Game!
I have no idea if I can catch up though. It has been really hectic for me. Not much time during the day at work, with all the Christmas business in the stores, and even though I work in the office in HR, we are all expected to get out in the stores to lend a hand with the customers.
To add fuel to the fire, my Company car finally blew up Monday morning. It is one perk I have, but we have replaced less frequently than we used to. I was driving a 1999 Taurus with 101,000 miles on it. It finally had a mishap with three of the cylinders out of six, and I had to put it in neutral at stoplights to get it to the garage on Monday.
They finally agreed to get me a new vehicle, so I just today got a replacement Taurus - they are nice cars, and I asked to please have the new Ford Sync system (from Microsoft) in it. It is way cool, with hands free operation of my phone and iPod.
Happy Birthday Noel!
Welcome Matt, and anyone else I may have missed during my hiatus.
If I missed anything I need to go back and see, please let me know - I don't know if I can go back through all the pages and still keep up!
SOrry about the car John!
Not weird Lisa....I've always wanted to be on a jury too. I've done jury duty a number of times, just never got my name called to even be considered. I'm still waiting.
I think your case was really cool. I wonder if they would ever pick a lawyer to be on the jury....if it's of your peers....I would think that lawyers are not because they know the law. Just curious.
In NY, it used to be an automatic free pass if you were an attorney. You didn't even have to appear on your jury duty date. They changed that a few years ago though. I've known of attorneys sitting on juries here, though a lot of times they'll still get bumped.
So who has off Monday and Tuesday and who has to work?
Even though he works for a teaching hospital facility, John has to work on Monday but he has off on Tuesday.
Anybody have off both days? Anybody working both days?
What a nice long weekend if you have both days off.
I'm working Monday, but only for a few hours. DH is working a full day on Sunday and on Monday. My mom is working a double shift Sunday, and then evening shifts on Monday and Tuesday. Too much working in our family this year!!

Too cute!
Glad your FIL is still recovering!
Wow.....I can barely afford just one of those ships! The Flying Dutchman was around $50 everywhere I looked, but I got lucky and found it for $17.99 on amazon.com! :woohoo: And last year my mom bought the Black Pearl to be from Santa, thank goodness! :thumbsup2
Great deal Holly! I love amazon.
We just had a holiday dinner at my brother's house. It was nice, since we're working all different shifts this week and won't get to have a meal with everyone together. Tomorrow we have swim lessons.
I went into NYC last night, which was fun. We went to Times Square in the giant Toys R Us store, had great Italian food and walked around seeing some of the holiday window displays in the department stores. Fun!

I have a funny story about bunk beds too! My sister and I had them because we had to share a room until I was in 8th grade (and she was in 9th) I think. I had the top bunk, and would always lean over the edge to talk to her. One particular night, we were giggling lots and I was leaning over the rail too far, lost my balance and fell. She had been feeling sick all day, so there was a puke bucket on the floor next to her (unused). Somehow I flipped on my way down and landed sitting in the bucket! :rotfl2: My dad heard all the commotion, then our very loud laughing, and came in the room yelling at us to knock it off and be quiet, etc., then fell completely silent when he saw me sitting in the bucket! It's a story my stepmom re-tells at most family gatherings. :rotfl: "Remember when Holly fell in the puke bucket?"

DH is off M and T
I work at Target so I work Mon. but I have the morning shift. Retail is hard this time of year but I love it!
I used to be able to say I loved retail....but now that I'm in my 34th year in retail :scared1: I do like it still somedays, but it is getting harder and harder, we have so many less hours to get things done and keep getting more and more responsibilities added on. I am not afraid of hard work...but one person can only accomplish so much no matter how hard they try.Today I was asked to go down to the floor to help as line-ups were huge and we just couldn't keep up, although we had a full front end (every check out was open). I only use a cash register once every 2 or 3 yrs  but I started taking customers out of line and ringing them through at portrait studio where their cash register was quiet although their camera was buzzing;) I must say it was the best hour at work I've had in a long time. People were appreciative to be getting service and I loved having the interaction with customers. I've been in the cash office for about 12 years and I do miss (sometimes:rolleyes: ) interacting with our customers.

Hi everyone!! Sounds like everyone is very busy right now....both in work and play.
I had lunch w/ Noel today....very nice lady. We ate at Friday's (Deb--same place we ate the 1st time we met).....We chit chatted alot, and we were surprised at the end of our meal w/ the wait staff coming out and singing their Happy Birthday song to her....the waitress had noticed the gift I gave her and when she mentioned Christmas present I (not thinking) corrected her and said "no, birthday" to which Noel replied "yesterday". We both laughed as they were singing, but enjoyed the ice cream :thumbsup2
Noel is partying it up tonight at MK for the MVMCP. Lucky her!
I'm so glad I got to meet her....and luckily (even though it was my lunch) I didn't feel rushed. I/we did get some pics taken, but those will have to wait until after I get back from MD....don't have time to do them tonight.
Don't know how easily it will be for me to check in over the next 6 days, so if I don't get the chance.....
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!
(and I don't care if it's not PC to say that....that is what I believe so that is what I say!)

**Happy Holidays Everyone**
Leaving work and don't know how much I'll get to use Peg's computer over the next 12 days, but I'll check in when I can.

Wow it's been pretty quiet today!
I just finished my last 2 gifts - an afghan and gift card clutch thing - both crocheted. They are for my co-workers.
I have to finish the last few Christmas cards and I'm pretty much done other than wrapping Darrrell's stuff - but I usually wait until the day before to do that.
I've been on jury duty for the last couple of weeks. Luckily the trial ended yesterday - the judge had originally predicted Dec 24th or 26th so this was much nicer. It was a civil trial and we ruled in the defendants favor - case was about eminent domain. The whole experience was pretty interesting. I've always wanted to be on a jury (weird I know) and was surprised to find out when talking to the lawyers afterwards that had they had one more challenge left I would have been bumped. She said they prefer to not have IT people on panels - and out of the 4 IT people in the jury pool I must have seemed the least IT. They prefer teachers and military. I would have guessed it was because Darrell is an archaeologist and the property in question had smoe environmental issues.
Lisa,
One of our best friends specializes in eminent domain law. He is one of the top lawyers in No. Cal and often speaks at Bar Association functions and other lawyer functions on the process.
It always seems so interesting and very diverse.
Glad it finished early though. It's tought to be committed to something like this at this time of year.

Sorry I missed your birthday Karen. Hope you had a really lovely day and didn't have to work too hard.
That is so funny!!! I will tell my daughter as she was the first I knew who put magic oatmeal down a couple of years ago.

Hi there:
We've been out and about for the weekend. Yesterday started with my last work of the season, a long BOD meeting, Paul sits on the Board, I've just recently taken over the accounting for this company, not so fun investor arguments, oh well. it's over I'm glad. We decided to take the kids to see Alvin after that, Paul didn't want to go, but we made him and he laughed, it was a good thing to revive us after the meeting. It was cute, glad it was short. We then had a nice dinner at my sister-in-law (removed by divorce) do you still call that a sister-in-law? We do, we share nephews, therefore we consider our kids cousins (even thought they aren't) it kist works for us. Gives Molly a girl cousin that she can associate with. Otherwise, it's 9 boys
(11 with these "extras") and Molly, since my neice lives in TX. Kinda sad at family functions Molly has no girls to hang with, but us old moms & aunties.
Tonight we are off for an adventure, we are meeting friends (Wilson's racing buddy & family) at our favorite Chinese resturant and then we are going on a horse drawn carriage ride around the little neighborhood of Willow Glen. Nice area with cottage houses that decorate great for Xmas....should be fun!
Now back to watching SpongeBob and eating my omelet...I love my DH
Hope everyone is enjoying the season.
MERRY XMAS!!!!

Hi All!! I'm watching football....the giants and raiders are both televised so I keep switching channels back and forth. We're at the half and the raiders are getting slaughtered, but the giants are up by three. We still have the second half to go so we'll see......have to consider that I'm watching so therefore the jinx.
I'm watching the scores of other games......John's browns are down.....they're playing the bengals who are up 19-0. Kaylee's hawks don't play until later.
The giants are playing in Buffalo and it's pouring down rain....I would rather watch a game in snow.....blizzard conditions like the browns game that John went to last weekend.

John is wrapping my presents, the kid already wrapped Ray's. The tree looks so much better with presents under it.
Tomorrow I'm going to the Bethlehem hotel and we'll watch movies and swim and do hot tub. It's a great little get away locally. We'll eat out and drive by main street Bethlehem, Christmas City as they call it around here. It's old and historic and beautifully decorated with lights. I love it there, especially at this time of year.
We'll come home about 11am on Christmas morning and the kid will go pick up Ray around 11am then we'll all meet at my house and open presents. I'll make some calls to Ray's brother and sister and daughter and if any of them are available to talk to him, it will make his day. They all have his phone number at Mrs. Bush's (personal home care), but none of them ever call him. They never called him when he was at home with mom either. I can't accept how they can just abandon him, especially now. If it wasn't for mom's family, he wouldn't have any.
We have dinner reservations for 3pm on Christmas day.....so we'll go out to eat and then drop Ray back off at Mrs. Bush's. He loves having his own room now, without having a roommate to deal with. He's very happy. My disposable income just went down because Ray can only afford a shared room. I will be picking up the difference for the private room.....and it ain't cheep!!
What's everyone else doing for Christmas eve and day? When do you open presents? This is the first time in my life that I will open presents on Christmas day. I like doing it on Christmas eve and think that I will go back to doing it that way again next year.

We open our presents on Christmas Day usually. I always felt opening them on Christmas Eve sort of spoilt Christmas Day. I think my parents opened them before bedtime on Christmas Eve once we had left home. There are only 4 joint ones under our tree as John and I aren't bothering this year with this last vacation and the cruise coming up. We are opening one lot of children's presents on Christmas Day and another on Boxing Day, so that spreads things out a bit!!
You are just so special in the way you take care of Ray. What a shame for him about his children - it must hurt mustn't it?

We tried to purchase tickets this past Sunday when they went on sale - with no luck. Sold out in an hour.
Won't mention the crazy price we paid, but the look on Jenna and Kayla's faces will be priceless and well worth it!

What fun Marilyn....having a big family to share this holiday with. I always wanted to grow up in a big family and then have my own big family, but neither one of those things happened.
There's just the few of us now, without any kids, and it's calm and quiet. There's something to be said for that too, but I prefer the crazy busy hectic frenzy you find with a house full of kids. Whenever I miss that I always go to my best friend Cindy's house. (She has cruised with us twice already.) We met in high school at 16 years old. I lived with her and her family for a year at 16....mom and I didn't see eye to eye then. She had 5 kids in her family and I was number 6. Christmas time in that house was great! Cindy and I were the oldest, then she had 3 brothers and a sister. She has since lost her youngest brother.....but that's another story.
Cindy and her mom and her sister and one brother all still live close to each other in NJ....just 45 minutes from my house. Whenever I want a dose of kid chaos, I visit Cindy and get cured fast.

Hope everyone is having a good time getting ready for Christmas. We still have my DBIL in town through the 27th and my DH and him are on the way to the airport to pick up DMIL and DFIL right now. My DK are watching spongebob and I'm going to head to get ready soon(still in my pjs:eek: ). V just wanted to say thanks for the recipes:goodvibes I've been cooking all day since I woke up. I made poppy seed chicken for Christmas eve and the cranberry chutney and regular homemade cranberry sauce and the make ahead mashed potatoes:thumbsup2 Love the idea of making it ahead with the turkey and honey ham I'm making and the trimmings who has time....love to make as much as possible ahead of time. V your awesome :cheer2: I'll let you know how everyone likes it...it smelled sooooo good. After all that I made some homemade chicken soup with the broth and some veggies, chicken, and noodles ...it was really yummy. I love cooking but never really have the time...hopefully when the kids are both in school full time I'll have more time:goodvibes Deb Christmas Eve we'll probably go to church eat dinner...maybe hot chocolate or smores after and I let the kids open one present(books so they could enjoy just a little before they get lost in all the toys). Christmas morning we open all the presents and have the big Christmas dinner. Growing up we had the big party Christmas Eve not Christmas day...cultural thing ...we also had Three Kings Day before we moved to FL where you would take grass from the yard and tie it up to put by the nativity scene for the camels to eat when the Three Kings went house to house bringing presents. My parents said when we moved to FL they don't come to FL just PR so we just did Santa Clause there after.
Have a Merry Christmas Everyone:dance3:

I played with my ibiza this morning. I have one recorded song now. I have a 30 free trial to Raposidy.....which is streaming music of all genres that you get everytime you're in a hot spot, like at the airports or hotels. I picked something that I wanted to hear and recorded it as I listened. The sound is awesome too. I have a Bose player at home which has great sound. This sounds every bit as good as the Bose, maybe better. It's easy to navigate through all the menus too. Next I have to learn how to rip a cd onto it....then I'll record my collection of music. I also have the ability to download songs from raposidy or any other site that I choose. I probably won't do this, at least not at first because I want to get my CDs on there. Then when that's done, maybe I'll subscribe to a DL site....we'll see.
PJ did you find the ibiza on amazon? If not I'll send you the link in a PM. Did you also read the news release I posted on here a while back? If not I can PM it to you as well. Let me know. Or if you have any questions you want to ask me about it, shoot! I know it's bluetooth compatible, but I only have wired ear buds right now. I will upgrade. You can also plug it into speakers at home or use it with headphones in a car. I have to find out if I can plug directly into speakers in the car. I'm not sure. Poor Tyler! He woke me up at 5am today because he was sure Santa came early! Did we leave cookies & milk out the night before? No! Did we leave magic oatmeal for the reindeer? No! Then why on earth would he have come early?! Tyler said, "I don't know....I'm just checking!" So since he dragged me out of bed so early, I figured we might as well get a start on our day. We were shopping like crazy all over town when I saw that things are 1/2 off almost everywhere! Tyler was wanting to go to bed at 5pm because of getting up so darned early and told me he was too tired to make cookies, so we just left Santa some that my aunt had sent us. He was in bed, bedtime book read, songs sung, SOUND ASLEEP by 6:45!!!!! So he'll probably wake me at 4am looking for Santa's gifts! :rotfl:

Yes, he was happy to open a few presents today. The present he got in the mail from my aunt is something he already has, so he was a bit sad, but then he said, "Oh no! What do we tell her?" I told him not to worry, He's never even met her because she lives a couple hours away and doesn't allow visitors because she has a skin condition and she's embarrassed by how it looks (scleroderma). Long story, but we stay in contact by e-mail. Well, I took him to see her only once, when he was a few months old, and she nicely told me she prefers not to have visitors. Strange, but it's fine....we make it work by e-mail. Anyway, I told him we'd be able to exchange it without bothering her about it being a duplicate. Toys R Us is good about that even without a receipt as long as it's something they sell. :thumbsup2
Then he got to open the 3 small gifts I got for him. He was pretty happy. He put his Sparty ornament on our tree right away, he put his new Spiderman shoes on, and took his craft supplies into his room and came out with a card he made me and told me he made it because I'm "the best mom in the world". I told him I love it so much because he's the best kid in the world! :goodvibes
Then he said, "Would you like to open your present from me?" :rotfl2: He bought me a harmonica. :confused3 :lmao: Too funny! The reason he bought that is because he wanted the box it came in to put his own harmonica in!

Think of your own happiness doing something nice for someone else and knowing your making him happy in the process.
Christmas eve we're going to the Olive Garden then go see Charlie Wilson's War. Christmas Day we'll have breakfast, open gifts, go see Alien vs. Predator Requiem then come home and have dinner.
We always opened up one gift on Christmas Eve from mom & dad - pj's. Plus my sister and I always exchanged gitfts Christmas Eve. Then Christmas morning we were allowed to open our stockings before mom & dad got up. Then after we had breakfast we would open the rest of our gifts.

Brrrrr!!! The weather guy said it was up to 50 degrees earlier today (so of course, all our snow is long gone), but we have a wind advisory warning with gusts up to 57mph through morning and the temp has dropped to 30. I was just outside lugging stuff into my garage, which is back behind the house, so it's not attached. Needed to make room to build the Flying Dutchman because I'm sure that will be my first big job of the day. :rotfl2: Then I had to lug all the presents inside from the trunk of my car. Well, there aren't a ton, only like six I think, but that wind about blew me over! Brrrrrr! I can hear it roaring outside and it's pretty creepy.

Sorry Marilyn, we went through a lot of pics but we can't find the one of gandalf coming into the house covered in it. But I shared a few others instead. That's how much snow we used to get when we first moved in here. Not anymore. We haven't had snow like that for years. Now it's more ice storms.

I usually make a bunch of cookies and stuff but since it's just us I really cut back this year - we don't need to eat all that by ourselves.
I mostly made the fudge as gifts - 2 pans have already been given away and most of the remaining pan of fudge is going to the girl's at my scrapbook store tomorrow.
I was thinking your beer sounds really good - been a few years since I last had one.

We have "The Santa Clause" movie, but I haven't seen #2 and 3. Watching #2 now on TV and it's so cute so far! I wish I had thought to tape it for Tyler to watch tomorrow. He's bummed that the Grinch movie (the Jim Carey version) was coming on tonight past his bedtime. I'm sure it will be on sometime tomorrow though. We could try to rent it, but all the Christmas movies are probably all gone. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to go see what's available anyway. Probably after unwrapping presents.

The beer is good, but nowhere near as good as fudge. We were actually planning on making cookies today. Tyler had the cookie cutters out a week ago and had his heart set on using the gingerbread man shaped one to make for Santa. Unfortunately, he was too tired. :sad2: Hmmmm.....maybe we'll do it tomorrow before my mom comes, before I take him to his dad's, and he can still make the ones he wanted for Santa and just take them with him to his dad's to leave for Santa. :thumbsup2

Most all of my family is down either in the swimming pool or in the hot tub so I thought I would post an update.
Where we last left off, I had gone to bed on Friday night about 1:00 AM. I set the alarm for 9:00 so I could get a good night sleep before having to move hotels and pick everyone up.
Once I was up and showered, I had a nice light breakfast in my room and finished packing. Talked to my DH and DD Samantha who were up and getting ready to go to the airport. I reminded my DH to get to the airport at least 2 hours early. Famous last words!!
DD Jen and her family arrived at the airport 2 1/2 hours early, sailed through baggage checkin in 35 minutes and breezed through security in 10 minutes and were at the gate.
Here is where everything went wrong for DH. DD had dropped him off only one hour early for the flight and by that point the baggage line was over 2 hours long. I was glabbergasted at his noncholance in thinking he was going to make the flight. He was still in the baggage line as were 20 others on his flight when the flight took off for Orlando!!
Needless to say, I called Southwest and even the flight he could have gone stand by on had left. DD Samantha was at SFO with the house keys and the burglar alarm in the house was one. I made a split second decision to get him on the next flight from ANY nearby airport. One seat was left on the next day from SFO at 11:10, so I grabbed the seat.
I next called the Marriott at the SFO airport and got him a room. DH checked with Information and was told that at 2:30 he could take the Monterrey airporter to SFO and then he could catch the shuttle to Marriott.
By this point, DH was realizing I was beyond upset that all he had to do is go to the airport and he had messed up big time!! He had our DVD players with us so the kids were not able to watch movies on the flight.
DD Samantha sailed through security and baggage, however her flight that was scheduled for 1:14PM did not take off until 3:59 PM so she just sat around the airport talking on her phone and typing on her computer.
As for me, I checked out at about 1:00 PM so I could do some shopping for groceries for my DD and her family to put in the condo. Luckily, I was able to check into the Dolphin by 3:00PM though I didn't unpack, just dropped off the bags.
Next, I headed back to International Drive and my DD's condo. I was able to check into her condo, get her keys and unload the groceries I had bought for breakfast etc. I also dropped off the $10 tree for them to assemble. Afterward, I made myself some taboleuh for dinner and watched tv until time to head toward the airport at 11:00 since both flights were running late and were not schedule to arrive until 11:30 PM.
DH calls from the shuttle and when he arrives at the hotel. He is very contrite. Maybe next time he will listen to me and not have selective hearing!! He hits happy hour and decides he is going to bed early so he can get to the airport on time!! Better happen or else!!
I go to airport and sat waiting for about 10 minutes in the cell lot until I got my first call from Samantha at 11:40 PM. I only had to circle twice for her as her bags came pretty quickly.
Now here comes the next debacle. I get a call about 11:44 PM from DD Jen and crew that they are at baggage claim and to come get them. Of course, another terminal from DD Samantha and this one has a really, really long line to get in. We finally get up to gate 14 where everyone has their bags except SIL Pete. His bag which has ALL of his clothes is missing. We wait about another 15 minutes and no luck. Pete goes to the baggage counter and they discover that the bag was taken off at first stop Burbank. Right BUR looks just MCO. You wouldn't believe how many bags on the carousel were destined for other airports!! Southwest promises to deliver bag to the condo by 3:00 PM.
At this point, it is about 1:00 AM, everyone is starving!! No meal service on Southwest as you all probably know, so the goal is fast food. My DD Jen makes the funniest comment so far, "Oh, there is a 24 hour drive through, I wonder if it is open?" We all laugh hysterically and I pull into Mickey D's. DD Jen orders and of course everything is wrong when we get it but we take it anyway.
As we are driving away, she realizes that she didn't order any drinks so we stop at a Chevron mini mart for sodas and beer!! Finally, we arrive at the condo, unload and then Pete rides with me to the Dolphin as they are keeping the car.
Once in my room, I can't sleep so I unpack until about 3:00 AM, take a shower and fall asleep. More tomorrow.

So what are you doing Christmas eve and day Holly? I know you open presents a little at a time over the course of a couple of days. That's probably the best way to do it.
Tyler goes to his dad's just before bedtime Christmas eve this year (we alternate), so Santa comes tonight to our house. Santa knows Tyler's arrangement and always comes to each house when he's at each house. But this will probably be the last year for that because Tyler's too smart for me to keep that up. He told me tonight, "If Santa's bringing presents to everybody else tomorrow night, he'll have a really small bag when he comes here tonight." :scared: So I told him, "No, not really because there are tons of other kids who have the same arrangement that you do, so his sleigh is probably pretty full tonight." And then I told him that maybe I'll talk to Santa next year and ask if he can just start delivering to both homes on the same night, then when Tyler gets home from whatever house he's at on Christmas morning, he'll see all the presents Santa left at the other house and get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN on the same day! He liked that idea, so that's what we'll probably do next time.
My mom and maybe my aunt are coming tomorrow, but my mom now has to work until 4 (if not later), so the earliest she'll get here is 5:30. My aunt might have to work until 5:30, but she won't know for sure until tomorrow afternoon, so if she's not able to leave when my mom does, it will be just my mom. So Tyler and I will have plenty of time to make cookies during the day.
Christmas day I have to drive out of town about an hour and a half) to my dad's with him, my stepmom, stepsister & husband and 2 boys, stepbrother & wife and daughter. Then I drive back home and pick Tyler up maybe around 4 or 5.

Yes, Deborah, it's a crazy animal house around here and yes, Holly, I never get bored. Somebody is always doing something, probably something they shouldn't be doing.
Aww, so fun Deb. I loved all your pictures!
:rotfl:
Yes! They were driving me nuts! :rotfl2:

As we are driving away, she realizes that she didn't order any drinks so we stop at a Chevron mini mart for sodas and beer!! Finally, we arrive at the condo, unload and then Pete rides with me to the Dolphin as they are keeping the car.
Once in my room, I can't sleep so I unpack until about 3:00 AM, take a shower and fall asleep. More tomorrow.
Oh no!! Glad everyone made it (albeit late and undernourished)!

Game over....giants win 38-21. YEAH! And I got to watch it! YEAH!
It's raining like the devil over here. And we have a weather dog. She's covered in wet muddy sand right now and looks like a big rat. We have a doggy door and a pen. The bottom of her pen is all sand. She's been playing outside in her pen in the rain.
Gandalf used to lay out there in the snow. We would be having a blizzard and he stayed out there sleeping. He once came into the house and all you could see was his eyes.....he was coated in snow. I think we have a picture of it. I'll check with John and if we have it I'll post it.
Ella is going after Mickey (turtle) right now. Mickey is going after Minnie (turtle) right now. Ella is standing on top of the tank with her two front paws nose to nose with them. Mickey and Minnie just jumpted off their sunning spot back into the water. Ella loves when they come out of the water and move around.
Yes, Deborah, it's a crazy animal house around here and yes, Holly, I never get bored. Somebody is always doing something, probably something they shouldn't be doing.
How cute!!! Do you have a picture of the cat playing with the turtles?
I hope you toys r us is better than ours. THey have a no receipt no return policy!:sad2: Of coarse Target is doing that now too! I hate not being able to return things for store credit even,

I wonder if BB is going to do the Showtime feed live like they did this summer. If so, I've got a lot of TV to be watching. I never recorded it, I just watched it when I could. Sometimes it was boring, but most times it was great TV.

If anybody needs more Christmas ideas, here's something a co-worker did when her daugher was about 6 or 7: She used an old pair of workboots, put flour on a cookie sheet, put the boots in the flour and made white boot tracks in their house (they had hardwood floors). But it didn't have the effect she'd expected. Her daugher saw the boot prints and was really mad at the mess he'd left and asked her mom, "Is Santa going to come back and clean this mess?!" :rotfl: But it still sounds cute and I think I'll do that next year. This year I'm going to move all our Christmas stuffed guys that play music, etc. near the tree, facing the presents, so it will look like they were watching Santa put the presents there. ;)

Such a great idea.....both of them. I remember writing a note from Santa to the boys every year. Sandi ate the cookies and I bit the carrots. Santa said that Rudolf burped when he ate the carrots. The boys loved that. Then we would put them to bed at mom's house and just at midnight we would ring mom's christmas bells and stomp on the floor as Sandi was waking them up screaming that Santa was there. They believed us. Then after opening presents at mom's house we would go back home and open more. One year some deer jumped out in front of the car (happens all the time up here) and ran across the street. Kris swore that it was Santa's and that he saw him. I love those memories.

LisaG....PA doesn't look like that anymore. It's been years. Now we get ice or nothing. Not pretty like the snow.
Our friends live in Montrose, on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere and they actually get a lot of snow still. (It's almost in NY) If we ever win the lottery that will be where we live - no jobs to be had in the area for us or we'd live there now.
My IL's get all the ice now too instead of the big snows - in Milton.
My sister and BIL only have a year or 2 before Lila catches on too. BIL is a firefighter so the years he is on shift for Christmas they have Christmas a day early. So Santa delivers to firefighter's houses a day early too!

That's exactly why my mom started the tradition of opening presents at midnight on Christmas eve. She wanted to sleep late on Christmas morning. That's what she always said. I'm so used to doing it at night with the tree all lit up and usually snow outside. It's going to be weird doing it during the daytime this year.
