OK....I'm going to sit in my Homedics Shiatsu Massage Chair for a while, get nice and relaxed, do homework for a while, and get to bed. :thumbsup2
Now there's an idea...I'll have to use mine!
Holly-I'm sorry to hear about the EEG results, although you don't know fully what she said means for Tyler, but I'm so glad that you've taken the steps that you have taken so that he will get what he needs. As a parent all we can do is be warriors for our kids when we need to be and in my book you've done just that...you fought for him when you felt he needed more than what you ex was willing to see/give!!! :thumbsup2
Well, so far no different news. I'm actually waiting for nightfall so that we can see what's going on and where. I know that sounds weird but during the day all you can see is smoke, at night you can see the glow and pin point exactly where everything is. I look forward for all this to be behind us all, as I'm sure everyone else feels!

Hi everybody.
Missed the big pirate: again, oh well. Good job Venetia.
You guys are so good, that any response that I would have thought to have given anyone (like Holly) has already been said.
So Holly, Lisa, and anyone else, I am not going to repeat the good words already said, just know our thoughts are with you.
We are getting ready to leave for WDW tomorrow - took Sophia to Halloween in the Halls tonight, and a hayride too at the school. It was really COLD. High 40's now.
Red Sox are beating the Rockies. Hope they win. They sure beat up on the Indians in the end.

Sounds like Sophia had fun!! I have to brag about the weather here today. We had a high of 80, seemed almost like summer.
Neutral on World Series unless the Giants are playing!! Or if the Dodgers are playing, anyone else!!

Really Bubba, just "being" there, where it all began. I love history, and I think I know enough as a WDW vet to not be disappointed. I just want to drink in the atmosphere.
Thanks John! What's Halloween in the Halls? And speaking of Halloween events, what happened to the pictures from the zoo on Sunday that you were going to post?
No time to download photos Holly. I have been going to bed late and getting up at 5:00 every morning, with something going on every night here at home! I'll get to it sometime!
Halloween in the Halls is Trick or treat through the High School, with National Honor Society Students handing out candy to the kids. We had over 2.000 people show up! Ran out of food! Hayrides kept going past 8:00!
All was free other than the food.

Hi there Holly!

10-24-2007, 09:22 PM
I booked the flight the day they opened up which I believe was back in February or March. I get almost daily emails for specials from United and happened to catch those seats for both JB and myself.
Oh...I think I remember now. I wouldn't have booked airfare then because of the STAR testing issue being outstanding. I probably didn't start looking until later. I'll sign up for the specials in case they do something, which I doubt. We probably will save money and do a connecting flight. So if we are grumpy at 7am breakfast the next morning, please see through it! That being said, how could we be grumpy since we will be heading to the Magic!
Lisa, I am so worried about you and your family. I hope you have all your valuables and important papers loaded in your car, just in case!! Please take care and be safe!! Ditto.
:rotfl: EXACTLY!!!!! It just doesn't sound like a happy marriage to me and she doesn't seem like she's very happy with her life. She never smiles and is always grumbling about something. Not a fun way to live. Life's too short! Laugh, smile, have fun! :yay: :woohoo: Be glad you aren't in that marriage!
We have ashes on our car today. We have a very strong smoke smell outside now too. Hopefully our winds die down tonight and they can start containing the fires. They are predicting around 50% containment by 10/29 with 100% containment around 11/4!
The sunrise this morning was unreal - the entire sky was red. With all the particulate matter in the air sunsets and sunrises should look weird for awhile.
Here in SD there is no rain in the forecast for at least the next 10 days to help clear the air. Hope all clears up soon.
Not so great news today. Tyler's pediatrician called, left me a voice mail telling me she has his EEG results. I was already worried by the Dr. calling me herself. Then she said that phrase of doom: "I don't want to alarm you, BUT....." Anyway, her message told me it's not an emergency, but she really wants to talk to me about the results right away. When I called her back, she told me the report says "abnormal rare frontal activity". She says she's going to set up a referral to the pediatric neurologist and will call me to tell me when the appointment will be. :sad1: Tyler's dad's first comment was that she'd better refer us to somebody in-network. Then he was angry that she didn't give more details. I kept telling him, she doesn't know any more details because she's not a neurologist. She was just reading what's on the report. It also said something about "potential for seizure activity, further evaluation may be necessary". I don't remember her exact words on that part.
I'm a bit too overwhelmed to try to figure it out right now. Have to call my dad and update him, and then my mom too. It is good they are finding something so they can fix it. Medical advances are so great....so if he does need some sort of medicine or treatment, the sooner you know the better. Our thoughts are with you and Tyler and that crazy step-mom and Dad!
Good News today.....my brother got called to meet up with a ship off the coast of Japan. He leaves Nov 5th and is now getting all his required paperwork and physical, etc. taken care of so that he's ready to go. I'm so relieved for him. This is exactly what he needs to be doing right now. He'll be away for six months. It'll be hard for me not to be able to talk to him every day, but it's only for six months and since mom is gone, there won't be any emergencies to try to reach him about. So it's all for the best!
   Sounds good, although I am sure you will miss him.
Just take it easy as there is no sense worrying about what might be until you have more information. Sometimes for me when I am overwhelmed I tend to speak off the cuff and try to say something like what he said. I will say something I can potenitally control, like the insurance issue as opposed to speaking to what I am really feeling.
Very insightful (as always!).
I'm mostly packed....just have the odds and ends to do.....we leave tomorrow night after work. Now that I know my brother is taken care of, I can really relax and enjoy this trip. I'm starting to get really excited coz it's getting close to when we leave.
Since we'll be in FL, we'll see my brother before and after cruise....I'm glad to have some time with him away from the homefront on vaca and just relax and enjoy our last couple of days together before he goes away. I think we all need it really badly. It'll be good for all of us.
:hippie: :hippie: :hippie: Have a GREAT time!!!!
Been a little lonely with DH gone. He flew to Colorado last Thursday to open a new store in Cherry Creek. He came home Sunday night and was on the first flight out Monday morning to San Diego to assist his stores there. Flew in last night to be in his home store because one of the Presidents of the company was speaking today. He was back on a flight midmorning back to San Diego. The hope is he will be home Friday night. The girls really miss him. Hope the time flies by quickly.
Think of the FF miles you will have! Good point! It reminds me of my two uncles (who are brothers). They both were big wigs at Coke. One always used the corporate jet, avoiding all the delays, hassles, etc of commercial. The other used commercial. Now that they are retired, my uncle that used commercial has millions of miles and will travel free the rest of his life no doubt. The other has hardly any. Case in point: traveling by corporate jet might not be the best bet! Then again, anyone traveling by corporate jet probably doesn't need to worry that much about the cost of flying.....

Hi Lisa. are you safe yet?
We are. Though the air quality is so poor we can't really go out much. Wearing mask when we do though.
Tomorrow we are going back to work. Probably spend the day on pins and needles hoping nothing changes. We're most worried that we can get back to the apartment to get the cats.
Thanks for asking :)

Hi everyone...what a day! Well, we got a recorded message from the superintendent from our school district that school tomorrow is cancelled due to the poor air quality, proximity of fires and the uncertaintly of the direction of the fires...they want families to be together if something comes up. So, I'm good with that, I'd rather have my kidlets right with us. DH is on "vacation" the next two days. Let's continue to hope all this settles down quickly.
Thanks for everyone's concern and well wishes...send pixie dust...we need some Disney love in CA!

Good morning!
Maybe last post before we leave.
Stay safe everyone in Cal!
Boss heard I was going to Cal for this conference, and started laughing. Seems like EVERY time I go to one of these, a natural disaster follows me. One time in Orlando they had tornadoes all around WDW. Another time I was away I was IN a hurricane.
So if you want someone to blame for the fires, I guess it is my fault.
All kidding aside, we hope this ends soon, and I cannot imagine having that kind of fear and concern and being at the whim of which way the wind blows.
You are all in our prayers!

Thanks Marilyn! Yes, I was very loose and relaxed thanks to my massage chair! My back muscles are sore today because of the strength of the massage it gives, but my back and neck don't feel tense and twisted, etc. :goodvibes
Slept like a rock! Thankfully, my thoughts turned off and stayed off all night, and I knew it was almost time to wake up when my thoughts suddenly started back up again and they woke me up. That massage chair sounds great. I think sometimes when you are stressed all your muscles tense up - back, neck etc, so good to relax on it before bedtime!

I do hope Laura is doing ok. If you haven't written the letter yet, please let her know we were asking about her and looking forward to her being back on here and cruise planning!!:grouphug:

Hi everyone...what a day! Well, we got a recorded message from the superintendent from our school district that school tomorrow is cancelled due to the poor air quality, proximity of fires and the uncertaintly of the direction of the fires...they want families to be together if something comes up. So, I'm good with that, I'd rather have my kidlets right with us. DH is on "vacation" the next two days. Let's continue to hope all this settles down quickly.
Thanks for everyone's concern and well wishes...send pixie dust...we need some Disney love in CA!
I am glad that you are all together. Let us hope that the fires die down and more control of them is established today.

This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced.
I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a kind soul
working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday
and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy
that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and
to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her
you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope
Because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, "To Meredith" in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, "When a Pet Dies." Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven.
Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays
in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our
bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in,
so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and
have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for
helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother
you have. I picked her especially for you.
I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I am wherever there is love.

To those of you in Southern California - I know I haven't posted anything since the fires started, but please don't doubt that you have been in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for getting on here and keeping us updated as to how you guys are doing.
I went to dinner at Boma's last night....with Ian and Sukie (they will be on the cruise and will probably jump on the thread band wagon as it gets closer to out departure date) and got to meet PJ/Penny. We were thinking about all of you (esp. those of you in So. Ca). I updated Penny as to the posts for the last few days.....about the Lisas and how close the fires were, and Tyler's dr's appt. She is going to meet Kathe, V, John & not sure who else at Epcot tomorrow.
Ian took pics on his camera, and I took one w/ my camera phone - but I have no clue how to get the picture now out of there! Ian will be heading home tomorrow and is supposed to be sending the pics to me as soon as he can.....I will then post.

Sorry for this sad post, here is the place we come to share, good, bad and ugly. This I'm afraid is the later.
I just got a call from my cousin, Laura, in Redding, her preemie baby granddaughter passed last night. Shalya was a twin. Her sister Sierra is holding strong. She had an infection last week and it looked like they had it under control, but suddenly and ferociously it came back in the night and she passed. She was 2 months old yesterday. The twins were born on my mom's 80th birthday.
Mom(Toni) and Dad(Brian) are strong stock, but nonetheless I'm sure are devastated with this. They also have a son 3 years old at home.
Please keep my extended family in your prayers.

Well, we're all holding tight. Rumor has it the Fallbrook folks will be let back home today, so that's an excellent sign. The Wildomar fire which was very close to my house was put out, it was 20 acres which sounds small in comparison to the SD fires but considering most homes here are on 4,000-10,000 square foot lost, 20 acres can do some damage!
I don't know what's going on with the Camp Pendleton fire...with the kids being home today I'm trying to keep the focus OFF the fires. I see them suffering from some stress of the situation so I'm laying low with them. I took my oldest to my MIL's house (she lives about 3 miles from us) and they're painting, (art, not walls:goodvibes ). He's quite the artist so I think that's good therapy for him. My youngest is playing mini golf on the TV (it attaches to the TV) and I'm baking...not that I need to eat the baked goods, but it's taking my mind off of what's been going on and helps me to stop worrying about those that we know who are suffering and displaced in SD. I'm not sure if I posted this but a relative of a friend of mine lost their house in the 2003 fires...it finally got rebuilt and they moved back in about 2 weeks ago...you can only imagine what I'm going to say next? Yep, it's gone AGAIN. What a mess all the insurance will be. At the beginning of 2007 Allstate announced they were not writing any new policies in the state of CA...I bet we'll see more of that to come......
Hope everyone at WDW is having a blast...I'm so jealous!

As strange as it sounds that is so true! I have many patients who are very sad or upset when I tell them everything looks good. Despite not wanting something to be wrong, they were hoping something would show so they could have an explanation for why they were feeling bad!

 How awful! I can't imagine how discouraging and frustrating and horribly sad this all is for your friend's relative. Just awful! :sad2:

This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced.
I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a kind soul
working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.
What a wonderful thing to do for Meredeth from a total stranger. I am sure she will treasure that letter for the rest of her life.

Nan
Our deepest sympathy to your cousin and her family on the loss of baby Shayla. I am glad to hear baby Sierra is holding her We will keep them all in our prayers.

I'll be honest...I'm pretty done with CA. I'm not a native Californian so it's easier for me to say that than perhaps for others but I know we'll not retire in this state. It is beautiful and the weather is awesome but it's so ridiculously expensive and the lifestyle is paced so fast...I'm just ready for a change in the near future. I know every state has it's natural disaster burdens but this latest round of fires really has made me uncomfortable at best. We lived near Laguna Canyon in 1994 when the terrible fires were there and the terror in seeing every ridge on fire in every direction we turned nearly did me in. But time past and we forgot, and then we moved and that was that. However, this has reminded me all too well and now we have children to consider which we didn't back then and I truly see how stressed they are. It's just not worth it anymore. :sad2:

I can imagine it is terribly stressful for you and your family. Though born in southern California, I have lived for many years in northern California. I have to say I prefer it up here though we also do have an expensive lifestyle and the pace of living is fast, but in our case more technology oriented. Living spaces are not quite as crowded up here as in southern California nor do we have quite as crowded freeways.
The world in which we live is rapidly changing. With communication being almost instantaneous from any part of the globe, we know what goes on in the world almost as it happens. We are competing in a global economy. With everyone wanting cheap goods, it gets harder and harder for us to compete with the rest of the world in labor costs. The world your children are growing up and will be adults in is vastly different than the world of my childhood, teenager and young adulthood. I do not envy them.
I don't have an answer for you. I am not sure moving to another part of the county will have less issues to deal with. Maybe less fires, but there are plenty of other yearly natural disasters. My son lost his home to Hurricane Hugo. I had friends who lost homes in Katrina. Look at the drought conditions in Atlanta.
Just my thoughts.....

Come to Washington DC.....our idea of a "natural disaster" is 2 inches of snow :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Schools close for 2 days!!
I guess we do have the terrorist threat. DC is the 2nd most likely spot to hit next to NY......

We close at the thought of snow out here! :lmao: Washingtonians are terrified of snow and think 4 wheel drive will get them through anything:scared1: including ice! If it even starts to snow, the roads are a horrible mess with accidents. Being raised in CT, this was a hard concept for me to understand, but now I don't drive in the snow just because I am so scared of everyone else out there on the road.

My youngest DD Samantha has the distinction of being the ONLY kid at her HS who missed school because we were snowed in in Woodside. This only happens infrequently and our road was so steep we couldn't get down it for two days (even with 4 wheel drive) until all the snow melted!!

Spent the first 22 years of my life in SoCal. Shawn pretty much grew up in NoCal before moving down to Irvine. At least in our situation, you tend to get caught up in the lifestyle of Southern California - it can be amazing! With that said, I can't ever see us moving back to California. Neither one of us has any desire to do so. We loved Oregon, we didn't care for Washington D.C. (sorry the MD side is kinda, well boring - my cousin Tom lived in Centreville and we really enjoyed visiting him there. Love that Costco! His house is the house where half the basement was a gun safe - strange). Anyway, we really enjoy Arizona too. We would love to move to Florida though. Really miss the beach. Kind of rambling here, and don't really know my point!! We didn't like the idea of moving from SoCal when we did, but it has turned out to be one of our best decisions - I think that is my point:confused3 !

you could always move to AZ.:goodvibes I love the dry weather here. No natural disasters here(no hurricanes,earthquakes,tornadoes...rare for fires it's usually in the middle of nowhere)...but hot in the summer that's when everyone either goes to Flagstaff or San Diego and vacation. The cost of living is less than CA. The schools aren't suppose to be good here but it depends where you live or go...our neighborhood school is a perfect 10(greatschools.com),excelling, A+, we have the wal-mart AZ state teacher of the year, FLAP grant for next 3 years, top test scores, and spanish immersion...So it depends where you live or where your kids go to school...Every school in our district is an excelling school. We like it here and there are a lot of people from CA here;)

I didn't see your post...I agree with AZ:thumbsup2 We love it here...but we miss the beach. We try to visit the beach when we vacation...we are so close to CA but I do have to say I like FL beaches better with the warm water but don't like the humidity in FL.

I was crushed by VA Tech's loss tonight. Watched the entire second half and boy, what any awful way to lose. Was cheering for the Hokies, wish they could have finished BC off.
I was rooting for Tech too:sad2: Anything could happen this BCS.

Hi everyone,
Yes, I'm alive and well. I've even been lurking off and on over the past several weeks. I had this fantasy at one point that I might get caught up on the pages I'd missed (that was back around Sept. 18th!). I'd read some, but then miss a few days and then be even *further* behind.:sad2:
I'd think about dropping in and just posting a "hi, I'm here" post, but like I told ibouncetoo today on the phone, it seemed almost rude, like bursting into a crowded room and shouting "Hello" to everyone, interrupting the conversations. I felt like I needed to get a feel for what was going on, who was doing what, who was sick, who was dealing with difficult times, etc. before I just started jabbering away. (Do you think that I *think* too much??? I have been accused of that!;) )
Another problem was I wanted to let everyone know what I've been doing--I've been doing some cool things--but I usually end up getting online kind of late at night, and then I just didn't have the energy to compose something!:sad2:
Blah, blah, blah....
So here I am! In a nutshell:
My reunion was wonderful! Everyone had so much fun that we're getting together again in 2 years. Half of the surviving class came to the reunion (52 alumni). The weather was beyond miserable. It was so freakin' hot! Also, a monsoon storm blew up right before the Sat. night dinner, there was a lightning strike and 2 hrs. into the party the electricity went off (no air conditioning and pitch black). It didn't come back on for 2.5 hrs. Needless to say, everyone was long gone before then! So the big evening was cut way short, but everyone still had fun. Maybe that's why everyone is so anxious to get together again soon!:)
After the reunion I was away from home several days, down in Scottsdale and back.
Oct. 7--13 my sister & went to LA and Disneyland. We saw Wicked (wonderful), went to dinner and shows at The Magic Castle Club in LA (so much fun!), had a day at the beach (perfect weather) and 2 days at DL and CA (not nearly enough time, but sis had to get home).
Again, home a few days, in Scottsdale a few days. Tomorrow my nephew is coming up to spend the weekend. I'm having a garage sale Sat. so have been madly cleaning out the past week. Sunday I take him home to Scottsdale, Wed. I go back for Dr. appt. and Halloween party w/him, his family and friends.
I didn't realize how "on the go" I was going to be the last 6 weeks. It's all good, lots of fun. October is my absolute, 100%, without a doubt FAVORITE month of the year! Every day I look at the changing leaves, feel the fall air, and just giggle with glee! SUMMER IS OVER!!!! YEA!!!!
Hi to everyone--I'll drop in as much as I can until life slows down a bit!:cool1:

So glad to hear from you! I totally understand about jumping in. I got really behind for awhile and it was a bit stressful. The way I figure it, it is kinda like running into a couple friends having dinner out. I might pop in right in the middle of the conversation, but then the conversation can change and a little chit chat, and then off I go to sit at my own table! I'd say pop in anytime!
Glad to hear you are safe.

He's at his dad's until Saturday afternoon. But I'm sure he's fine. The pictures we had taken together 2 Sundays ago came back early, I picked them up today, and they look very cute! I usually hate pictures of myself, but he's so handsome he just makes the pics look great! I'll try to find time to scan them at work tomorrow and try to post them that way.
Look forward to seeing those pictures. The pics I have seen of you Holly are lovely, but I am just like you and hate having my photo taken. Now, if only I was 20 lbs lighter perhaps I would love the photos!:lmao:

We like Kona, but it looks like you are planning around Epcot.
:sad2:
I don't blame you really.
Gee I guess I could post a whole page.....
That's ok - we love the chatter, and with John1 and V away, and Holly tired and tipsy, someone has got to keep the ball rolling!:rotfl2:
I often wonder when they "close" the federal gov't for snow...how much of the country laughs at us:lmao:
When I told Vanessa (remember she is from Norway) that one inch of snow closes school...she could not believe it. They have NEVER closed schools ever for snow. :lmao:
Up in the north of England I grew up going to snow in all weathers. We never knew about snow days till we started seeing US films!!! Now that the South has been having more snow(global warming and all that), though it is only small amounts, the softies close schools straight away. The south of England almost closes down - pathetic!!!
Kind of rambling here, and don't really know my point!! We didn't like the idea of moving from SoCal when we did, but it has turned out to be one of our best decisions - I think that is my point:confused3 !
I think I could live in Arizona.
whew!that was a lot of catching up:eek:
Nan-your family is in my prayers...that is so hard when it's a little one:grouphug:
Holly-I'm so glad you have been on top of things and that they did find something so they can do something instead of not knowing.
All of those is CA stay safe:grouphug:
Everyone going to WDW and/or DC have fun
you could always move to AZ.:goodvibes I love the dry weather here. We like it here and there are a lot of people from CA here;)
There you go - Arizona again!!!:yay:

Really Bubba, just "being" there, where it all began. I love history, and I think I know enough as a WDW vet to not be disappointed. I just want to drink in the atmosphere.
California is WAY TOO STUPID PC for trick or treating in the hall! Really busts my buttons!!

Oh Lisa, how sad about your friends double loss.
Baking is always a good stress reliever.
Take care and I hope that all is well and the fires will be out soon and the air quality will improve!
More  to you and those in SoCal.

Went out for dinner and drinks with co-workers to my favorite Mexican restaurant tonight. :yay: I think I should call in "hungover" tomorrow. :rotfl2:
I suspect there will be a lot of those calls in to my work today. ;)
Last night we had a Mess/Trafalgar Night dinner to 'dine out' my lovely ex-boss, as he's already left here and retires from the Royal Navy pirate: soon. The various traditions were observed, including speeches, fines, the singing of sea shanties, and the playing of Mess games. It all involved the drinking of large quantities of port!
As I don't drink, I'm not hungover. But I didn't get back to my hotel room until 1.40am this morning, which is extremely late for me, and now I'm serious in danger of qwertyitis.
In a little while I will wander over to our main building and see how many 'thick heads' there are!

we didn't care for Washington D.C. (sorry the MD side is kinda, well boring - my cousin Tom lived in Centreville and we really enjoyed visiting him there. Love that Costco! His house is the house where half the basement was a gun safe - strange).
Do you know where Tom lives...or his last name? With my DH being a minister we know so many people....we are very active in the community. When I moved to Centreville in 1980 (I was single) there was 1 elementary school with 800 kids.....today there are 10 elementary schools and each one has at least 1,000 children each.....it has just exploded here. We are just close enough to DC to commute....but not in the city......It really is a pretty nice town with lots of nice people :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
We now have 3 Costco's here....all very close, I could almost walk to all 3....
Lots of guns in VA....we have a consealed (sp?) permit to carry......
I was crushed by VA Tech's loss tonight. Watched the entire second half and boy, what any awful way to lose. Was cheering for the Hokies, wish they could have finished BC off.
Okay I will admit I fell asleep with 5 minutes left in the game...could not keep my eyes open (I get up at 5:30am with Vanessa each morning). My cell phone was ringing at 11:30pm or so and it was Daniel and he was crying....I thought he was kidding....but he really was upset......really upset....just what I needed ... I tried to wake up to talk him out of it...I mean after all it is just a game!! My mom could not believe I was upset this morning....I wonder what will happen in the BCS...Boston College is not a #2 team.....They looked pretty terrible...or Tech's defense is just really awesome!!
I was rooting for Tech too:sad2: Anything could happen this BCS.
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

So glad to hear from you! I totally understand about jumping in. I got really behind for awhile and it was a bit stressful. The way I figure it, it is kinda like running into a couple friends having dinner out. I might pop in right in the middle of the conversation, but then the conversation can change and a little chit chat, and then off I go to sit at my own table! I'd say pop in anytime!
Glad to hear you are safe.

Well....a tiny bit of a hangover. LOL! I had a very hard time getting up for work this morning. But feeling much better now after being up for 3 hours now. BUT I had so much fun last night, lots of laughs with friends, I have no regrets. Will definitely go right to bed tonight after class.

Sounds like a great time! :goodvibes
"Qwertyitis"!!!!! TOO FUNNY! I've never that term before, but how appropriate (for my condition last night). :rotfl:

Well, today I went back to cooking class, just for Xmas things.
I made Xmas cake and took it home. I oven it for 3 hours to 3half hours at my house.
Well I burn it :rolleyes1 because I thought oven 240 but it was not:mad:

I tend to do the opposite. I put it on too low and it takes forever and is never right. I have stopped making one now as we just eat it!!! I do love other people's cakes though.
I'm going to make my Christmas puddings on Monday. Prepare everything on Sunday and leave it soaking overnight. Have to steam them for 5-6 hours, so housebound for the day. I have been accused of that!;) )
you're thinking too much :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks for the prayers everyone. Yesterday was a somber day for me. I was tasked with making the rest of the tell the family calls. It was hard, but I knew my cousin needed me to step in and help her with this. I'm feeling at a lost for a hug with her. She is 5 hours away by car and we see each other maybe every one or two years. We are close by phone and email. Our father's were brothers. We have shared our grief over losing our dads together. Her mom is also in a home. She too is the care giver (hmmmmm, sounds just like me huh) okay the funny part is that she lives in the country with animals and dirt all around, me not so much :lmao: :lmao: good funnny picture in my mind.

Some say you need 2 months for the cake and pudding to 'mature'. Also you can 'feed' the cake with brandy or rum a few times before decorating it!!!:dance3:

In keeping with thoughts of those suffering from ill affects from the southern California fires, I thought I would post a message that came in my genealogy email that touches on the disasters that happen in other parts of the country:
On August 21st, our daughter's house flooded in Bluffton, OH. They lost everything in the basement and most of the things on the first floor. She had 46 totes with mostly Christmas decorations (5 Christmas trees). She now has about 6 totes with decorations, that were not destroyed. This whole thing has been devastating. But yet, we are all very thankful they got out and were not lost in the flood & sewage waters. Even as we all go through the aftermath of the flood, we thank God for what He has done for all of us.
The timing has been perfect. We had been trying to sell our home in SW Missouri for 5 years. We got an offer the end of July. Our daughter found us a house near her on Aug. 10th and put an offer down for us. Then the flood came and they spent a couple of days in a shelter and another 16 days in a motel. We closed on our house in MO. on August 30th and our daughter closed on our house in Ohio on Sept. 5th. They moved into our house on Sept. 7th and we got here Sept. 8th, with all our possessions. They cannot go back to their home because of the destruction and must find a home to rent. They will probably be living with us until January, when they hope they have a house to rent. There have been so many wonderful volunteers that have helped our daughter's family out. She works at Bluffton University and they made sure they had food to eat. The entire boys & girls soccer team at the University, showed up one night, to help take things out of the house. The volunteer firemen showed up to take all the stuff out of the basement. Because of the mold factor, anyone working in there had to wear breathing equipment. Several Baptist churches came, tested how far the mold had gotten into the house, cut 4-5' up on the drywall/plaster walls, on the first floor, removed the insulation and sprayed a chemical to stop the mold. None of these people got paid for their efforts.
God has certainly taken care of all of us during this time. So keep praying for those that are flood, and now fire victims in the California fires. With God's help, we will all get through these trying times.

YEAAAAA!!!!!! We're in Cocoa Beach. Two days of chill and pamper at the ocean....then onto the Wonder.....yes, I'll be in 5122...my home!
The car ride took 16 hours....not bad. We stopped in Jacksonville and had breakfast with my brother. It was good to see him in his element and not at mom's house.
I found out I could read in the van but not type....I couldn't let go of the laptop....I had to hold it...no hands for typing. Now we're in the hotel and I have a desk to work with....much easier.
Tomorrow morning me and Sandi are doing manis and pedis then John and I will shop for trick or treat gifts and a bag to hold my loot. I'm wearing a cosutme so I get to trick or treat as well. Then we'll go to Ron Jons like we always do and always find something to buy. Dinner will be at the Grill on Sat night while waving to PJ as she leaves the port. Then me and John get really excited coz it'll only be a wake up and we're leaving port.
It's only been one year since my last cruise and this one will be number 5, but I still get so thrilled every time.

Another one - very sad photo of last year when we left the Wonder Disney Cruise and my mil and I got lump of our throat when my son started crying. We know that he had a great times. He won the coolest boy in the club!!

But this year he didn't crying because I told him that we are coming back to Panama Canal, he was so happy but he was bit upset at airport.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Deb, I'm glad you arrived and now your relaxation can begin! Enjoy every minute of it! :cloud9:

Well, I promised Tyler we'd make pumpkin drop cookies. He missed that day in Kindergarten because his class did that on the day of his EEG. :guilty: His teacher was nice enough to send the recipe home, so I told him we'll make them Sunday after church. I invited my mom to come to town to help and taste, but she hasn't decided yet whether she'll come because she's on vacation and might be driving to North Carolina to visit a friend. Other than that, I have no plans yet. Maybe ice skating Saturday evening. Not sure. What are your plans?

Going to DGS swim meet in the morning and then heading to Auburn for the football game. Sunday after church DGS will come over and we told him we would go to Stevi B's for dinner.

Great pics!! The way I resize my pics is that I open them with Microsoft Office Picture Maker. Under change picture size, I click resize. Under resize is a button you can click that is called "predefined width & size". I slide the slider bar down and highlight "web small (314 x235 px). Once the picture is resized, I rename it and upload to photobucket.

California is WAY TOO STUPID PC for trick or treating in the hall! Really busts my buttons!!
Sorry, minor vent..
Have a great trip John!
Karen
I do think more CA schools are PC - I know one elementary private school that won't allow the little kids to dress up! That being said, there are still a few school out there in CA that are "cool."!
:rotfl: Well, I do have to say I love the tight pants they wear! :lmao: :rotfl:
Never mind about Xmas Cake:cool2:
let me tell you that guess what I got two tickets of Donny Osmond:love:
It is 4th row of seating  And it is TOMORROW night.
Must remember about the camera:thumbsup2
Scottishwee35:thumbsup2 Oh please post photos of Donny!
And finally, the last one. This is my favorite and will be on the wall in our living room. The 8 X 10 size really shows his missing 2 bottom teeth! Very cute!
Love all the photos!
Sounds a bit like our "fruitcake" seasoning!! No wonder fruitcare is my BIL favorite dish!
