Hey all! The last of DH family just left and I have to go do laundry before it attacks. Hope you all had a great weekend!!!
Kim
Kim,
I'm on my 7th of 7 loads!! :woohoo: WOOOOHOOOO!!
I've been at it all day along with going to Home Depot to buy a new range as ours has decided that it is done!!:sad2:
We also bought some roses to put in the front, it was a glorious 77 here today!! :sunny: (Too hot too soon for me, but that's just me...) We really do need more rain and I just heard on the news that "Mavericks" surfing championships may have to be cancelled because the waves are not big enough!!:sad1:
Karen
Sorry John and Holly!!

Oh man, I hate when my laundry attacks! Especially when I have unexpected company. Friday night my bedroom was nothing but PILES of laundry, so there was really nowhere to walk but ON the dirty laundry! SO embarrassing!
(Hmmmm....verging on TMI)
Holly,
Wasn't that the night that you met, was it Alejandro?:cool1:
HMMMM, more than just TMI, me thinks!!;)

Lisa:
Glad to hear you are safe. The news up here just tells us there is a fire in the Anaheim Hills but not much more. Those santa ana winds and the fires freak me out...they seem so often these last few years. stay safe.
btw, I totally get the no party at home rule...Wilson's are all outta the house. With Molly's most of her friends are very well behaved and don't make many messes so I've been okay with hers to be at home. (okay I'm reliving my life thru my daughter I admit it :rolleyes1 )
last year for her 9th in keeping with the AG theme we took a girls weekend away for her and 2 best friends and their moms. We stayed at the Four Seasons and enjoyed our shopping, private dinner party and doll hair styling without the boys (each girl has a little brother 6 years old) for the first 2 days, then the boys and the dads joined us for brunch on the last morning. Of course we had one more night for just the family at The Grand CA and Dland to complete the birthday weekend.
we're in a holding pattern regarding making plans for this upcoming #10 as Miss Molly has not written thank yous very timely so her party planning fanatic mother is a bit miffed.
Since the clock says past 11:30pm I think I'll take advantage and go to bed now..nite girls...

Great pictures Lisa...thanks for sharing. I love BAB, it is such a great place. DD's latest animal is named Tinkerbell Love Heart and of course is dressed in the tinkerbell outfit.
So, does anyone else stress over the birthday parties?! What to do? Where to go? How many kids? DD (5) had hers at Libby Lu in December and that was great, made it all very easy. Now, I have to figure out a party for a 9 year old girl....what to do? Any great party ideas that were easy, stress free and a success?:lmao:
Ok, little mad at the moment... :headache: I had written this really long post about all of the cool birthday parties that we had done for our DD and it froze and lost it!!!
Talk about irritated. Anyhoo, over it...
For our DD's 9th birthday we took her to Q-sar, a laser tag type of place. They serve pizza and have a party room for cake and presents.
For her 10th birthday we rented a 2 room suite at the Residence Inn. One of my best friends stayed with me and 10 girls. We had pizza, cake and ice cream and watched a movie that was on the hotels system that was not yet out in DVD, the Incredibles (still one of my favorites, No Capes!!) The girls slept in the big living room and my friend and I each had our own bedroom. The next morning the girls trudged over to the breakfast room, which is included, had breakfast, and then two more of my friends joined us for a mini-make-over session. The girls had their hair done, nails and make-up done. Great to have the two bathrooms and the kitchen counter for all of the stations. I took pictures (of course!)
For her 11th birthday we did the American Girl spa day at the clubhouse at my friends condo. I had five of my best friends do stations for doll hair, girls nails and toes, girls hair. We had lunch first and the girls made the cute flip flops for the dolls and themselves first. My friends and I also had lunch and wine, of course, while the girls were doing their flip flop project. It was very fun, I'll dig up the pictures.
This year we did the bowling alley. Our place has great birthday packages with 2 games of bowling, food and beverages and a party room for cake and presents. Very fun, and once again, very little clean up!!
We have also rented the clubhouse and done a magician one year and a clown another year.
Hope this helps, sorry it's so long (again)

Now that puppy on the other hand....that looks like a snuggle fest waiting to happen :goodvibes
What a great expression!
feeling a bit crabby here tonight...spring in the air it was 84 degrees here and too much clean up required around my house/yard. I feel this way every spring....I wish I had a wand to fix these troubles. But it will take a few weeks of me crabbing at DH and the kids to help, help, help then one major blow up and then we all get the point and get it cleaned up. Hmmmm....perhaps I should take a vacation from myself soon....:rolleyes1

PC or Mac does not matter for this.
First you have to find a photo hosting site. The DIS has one here,
http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/index.php
You use your same user name and password, and photos must be sized to a certain size before posting (uploading).
Many people here also use photobucket :
www.photobucket.com
Once you have your photo(s) uploaded, it is fairly simple. Right click on the photo wherever it is hosted, and select "copy image address". Then when you are posting here, and are ready to insert your photo, bracket it (put it in between) these two commands . . . and and paste the link you copied when you right clicked where you see the "and" here.
That should do it for you!
John,
OK, I'm going to give it a try!!

Good morning, Marilyn!! And good night Lisa!!!
Still up as it still seems an hour earlier to me!! I will be unhappy in the AM.:sad1: (Not that it isn't the AM now!)
I almost mentioned that she was holding her xmas gift of a Brighton wallet, but I thought, oh you name dropper!! So glad your taste is SO good!!!;)
Yes, I have been having fun!! I even spent the last couple of hours uploading all of DD's pictures from her digital camera (another Disney Xmas gift) and have been teaching myself the editing software!! :surfweb: So exciting!! I will have more pictures to upload!
I should head off to bed now... Don't really want to, but 6:30 will be coming very early, especially with the time change. Bet the UL group are glad that they don't do this!! It's not our favorite thing.
Although, today was a stellar day!! 77 degrees, just gorgeous and we had an extra hour of it too!!:flower: :sunny: :flower1:

Boy, you guys have been chatty this weekend. MY DFIL was taken to the hospital by ambulence on Sat at 1pm (he was at a funeral of all things) and I was the only one in town to stay .... hang...with him. (he blacked out for about 10 minutes) So my kids faired pretty well on their own (17,13,10). He is here with me now...the doctor released him at 5pm tonight. They could not find anything wrong...so they adjusted his meds and off we went. He will stay till Tuesday when he will see his regular doc and then he will most likely go home. I am tired with the time change and all.....hanging out in a hospital for 30 hours is not much fun. I am so glad he is okay!!
We have a black and white cat named Angel!!
On Cozemel, we loved Paradise Beach. Here is a pic from there.

On Grand Caymen, Rum Point is one of the most beautiful places I have been in the whole world. Long ride.....but really worth it!!
Thanks for the photo's, I'd seen them on another thread and thought they're wonderful!
Glad your FIL is feeling a little better now, warm wishes to him.
Great cat's name too!;)
laundry is that an evil word or what? it attacks us from our couch in the living room. okay very embarssing that people see it when they stop by....fortunately my DH did mass amounts of washing, drying and even folding today. Tonight it will be line up soldier and take your clothes to your room and put them in your drawers. I think with that we (me & the kids) could try to do it now while DH is a Wlagreens on an errand...that would be a nice come home to suprise huh? Wish me luck and speed in my quest....back later....
definately an evil word......the pile just gets higher and higher....I think its like the magic porrige pot (do you know that story) it just carries on growing and refilling no matter how much you do!;)

A few things. First
LAUNDRY - is basically the main reason why I work full-time. By doing so, we have to have a nanny and one of the nanny's jobs is to do all our laundry. :cool1: I can never quit as I can't stand to do laundry. I had tricked my husband into doing it for years by keep leaving lipsticks in my pockets when doing the wash. :rolleyes1 The red on his shirts would bother him so he would say "I'll just do it myself." After a few years, he caught on.;)
Lisa
See, that's where I made my mistake in giving up work last month! Now I have no excuse and can't justify sending out DH's shirts to be ironed!!!!:confused3

Just managed to get online after having no internet for almost 24 hours!!! Made me very stressed!!!
No, not carpel tunnel...about a week before thanksgiving all four of us were in a serious auto accident. We were tboned by a uninsured driver (on a suspended license). She turned left on a green light, erroneously thinking she had a green arrow (we were heading straight) and slammed right into us without even braking. The windows and doors were crashed in and her pickup came to a stop literally inches from Ryan and Mark's heads/faces (Mark was driving and Ryan was the left passenger). Anyway, amongst all our injuries, Mark's was the most involved...he broke his wrist on the steering wheel and he required surgery to put a screw in to attach the two broken bones. It's been a huge ordeal. That's his third cast and it's removable. The first two were not. Hopefully at the end of the month he'll have it off completely. He had his surgery on Jan 5th, so it's been a long, long nightmare. Of course, she went to jail and basically since she has zero money, she's off the hook in terms of her responsibility to us. Garnishing her wages costs a ton of money, not really worth it. It's behind us now, I can't waste my energy on becoming bitter about the situation when I have a wonderful cruise to dream about....:cloud9:
Sounded very nasty. Hoping everything soon at an end!

Good morning fellow thieves! Well, since the Los Angeles folks 'sprang forward' to meet my non-daylight savings Phoenix time, I get to go into work a half hour earlier. BUT, I get to go home a half hour earlier too. Although, it puts me in the heart of rush hour traffic, so I don't feel like I'm getting a deal here. I really prefer the 'extra' time in the morning. ::yes:: Well, can always DIS at the end of the work day and give the traffic a chance to thin out. :thumbsup2
BTW, keep those pictures coming. More kids! More puppies! No more banana slugs (I actually WAS eating at my desk when those showed up!)

good (grumble) morning...yes I know you are all wondering why I'm up so early...9am is normal for me...DH got a migraine and the blehs from the bathroom were my que that I had to get up and do the kids to school today. Amazingly, he had their table set for breakfast and sandwhich & soup allready for lunches, just had to bag the stuff and add the waters and fruit. Note to self, be nicer to DH, and craby less...see it bit me in the hinnie within a 24 hour scope.
Well, off to get them to school, then back to bed for a while....
Karen, loved the pics so glad you got that posting thing down & your parties sound like mine with the added exception of "offsite no clean up" I have to manage getting that added to mine then I'll be picture perfect happy.

Wow, it was really hot here this weekend. I think it got up to 90!
This morning came really early and it looked like it was the middle of the night when I left home for work. I don't like this new time yet.
Kim,
It is supposed be hotter today! YUK!

Let me know when you find this mystery quilter...I've got plastic tubs in the garage of the kids baby/toddler clothes that I wanted to do this for, but never got around to it....where oh where does the time go?
There is a DISer who does this. PM me if you are interested in her contact info.

Karen
Ok, which one of you two wants to come up here in June and host an AG party! Wow, you are both so creative and sounds like the parties went great. Speaking of fairies, has any one noticed that a certain fairy hasn't dusted any one in our thread. The EB people have pixiedust: frequently.
I know my tags could use some refreshing...they're old. I see the EB group has lots of new tags.... I am feeling a little left out:confused:
After about a half an hour in the chair, I have butt death. My last root canal took 2 hours. :scared1: I'll take a filling any day.
Oh man, I hope the Tag Fairy's not looking:wizard: ...I certainly would not want "Butt Death" as a tag!:rotfl:
princess: Queen of Procrastinationprincess:
Never put off tomorrow what you can do the day after!
:stir: How many of us have passports or will be getting them by cruise time?
We have ours. We used them for our cruise last Feb.
We have ours, DD is the only one with a stamp in hers, though. The guy at customs coming back into the US this past February stamped hers, and not mine (I was right behind DD in line) go figure.
It almost seems like you'd have to have fish extenders or Christmas stockings or the like because otherwise how would you know who to deliver it to? And I think the sign up with a cutoff date is a great idea.
I am in a GTY so I will let you guys know our cabin as soon as I find out. I am having anxiety issues about being left out of "group things" since ya'll won't know where to find us!:scared1:   :sad2: :scared: :faint:
Oh gross! Well, I found a frozen, dead bird in my driveway after more snow melted. Yuck! Too grossed out to deal with it today.
Oh man, that is icky. I am sad to report we need to update our pet list. Mekayla's ferret died last Friday...Mekayla called me at work when she got home from school and said "Mom, you need to come home right now!" I got all paniky and asked "why, what's up?" she told me Spice was dead in the cage...I then (without thinking it through) said, "well, if he's dead, there's no real reason for me to rush right home then, huh?" O.K. that may have not been the right thing to say off the bat, but there it is. So needless to say, I got her calmed down and told her to cover the cage with a sheet (our other ferret was asleep in the same cage and obviously had no clue his brother had passed) and as she didn't want to touch her dead pet it got to wait until I came home from work. We knew he was on his way...they only live like 7 years and he was at least six. Losing pets is so hard.:sad2:

We have tons of laundry to be done but we don't have a washer and dryer (we are going to get one when we move) and I hate laudry mats so I have to drive 30mins to my moms house to do it. :laundy:

Like the birthday ideas, but we're not creative birthday people. Would prefer just family at home, but last year splurged on kid parties. It was fun for THEM. Thinking build-a-bear for sissy is good (thanks, LiserAnn), but still thinking for DS8. Any ideas for not-at-home celebrations?

I am not liking this time change right now...maybe tonight when we can be outside for a bit later.....
laundry - it is a never ending battle at my house, especially since I am the only one doing it. I am going to start weeding out clothes that no one wears anymore and donate it. There is a 6 drawer chest in our bedroom that has all DH's various t-shirts....that are never worn. Ones that are special to him I am going to try and find someone to make me a t-shirt quilt.
We started the weed out process 2 weeks ago! I have 4 big Creative Memories boxes full of DD's clothes, 3 boxes of general give away stuff (crap) ;) and DH has a bag to go through for the final give away.
Hmmmm, looks like I am the only one that hasn't a box of my old stuff filled yet... :hippie:
2 boxes are getting picked up today by one of our friends that we hand girl clothes down to (the good stuff!) And the rest will go with the Veteran's pick up truck on Wednesday!! WOOHOOO!!:woohoo:
Now if I can just find the time, energy and will to break away from the DIS long enough, I have 2 more ROOMS to go through!! (Where did all of this stuff come from in the first place?):confused3

do you realize you just gave to travelling nuts a reason to come to WA? Ha ha ha! Very sad, and I also would have said something like that and then felt bad enough to come home & buy another feret on my way...I'm very afraid of our almost 15 year old dog going to the light and me finding her first
She is just lovely! Her eyes are amazing and I personally like the piercings! Mekayla has her nose pierced and I have a few myself.
Piercing too much pain, just the ears here. Molly gets hers done when I did at 13. She is thrilled with that as she thought I said 18 one time so she had completely adjusted to the idea before she really asked me about it.

I will be happy to be a focal point for those who have gty cabins. You can stop by our cabin and leave your cabin number when you board the ship. I will figure out a way to keep all of the number, maybe a list on the door or something.
Second thought, maybe people can call our cabin and leave voice mail with their cabin numbers.

Me too! I think that's what kept me from getting bitter...how truly fortunate we were...the police kept saying that over and over. It could have been much worse, thank God, it wasn't! I count our blessings every day!
Well, it's so hot here with low humidity that in Northern Orange County there is a raging fire going on in Anaheim Hills. It was started by a car and it's so windy it took off. The fire dept. had to evacuate 200 homes but it's now 50% contained so the people can go back home. Tomorrow is expected to be warmer, which means continued red flag (high fire) warnings for the OC and Inland Empire. We live at the base of a hilly ecological reserve (called the Santa Rosa Plateau)--we have brush within a few streets of our home, which is unnerving during this heat. Hopefully it will pass so that the brush won't be of fire concern. We lived near Laguna Canyon in 1994 when they had the big fires....it was so terrifying that I have no desire to go through again. There was fire on every ridge surrounding our house...you could feel the heat and see the ashes and embers in the air. Scarey! Hey east coast...send some snow our way!!! :)
Oh my gosh! Scary! OK....I won't complain about our snow anymore! I'll take the snow and cold any day now rather than fires.

oh my, we just had an immediate evacuation!! We were outside for 45 min.....due to an odd smell. I did get to gaze upon some hunky firefighters though, and everyone is safe!
Oooooooooh.....firemen (wiping drool off my chin)! Glad everybody's safe too.

WldWcnWmn: I am in a GTY so I will let you guys know our cabin as soon as I find out. I am having anxiety issues about being left out of "group things" since ya'll won't know where to find us!
I'm with you. I am very concerned about getting a cabin number at the port and then how do I let everyone know where I am?
Maybe we should organize something onboard where we can sign in our numbers? Does anyone have any ideas? How was this done in the past?
Help!
On our 11 night SC cruise we had floor monitors on each floor so that if your room changed you went to the one on your floor and put your room number on it. That way everyone could check these for any updates. They also kept track of any changes in planned activities.

When I gave Alejandro a ride home in the morning, I asked him if he was serious when he told me he's only 27 and he said yes. When I laughed, he wondered what was funny and I told him he must be out of his mind because I'll be 37 in a couple months! He looked at me with big eyes and said, "Wow! That's old!" And then he started laughing and told me he's joking! :rotfl2:

noel, so sweet of you to offer, but how do you know how many people will be affected? Could become overwhelming and time consuming if it's a large number. don't want to do that to you. time is fun!
carol, floor monitors sound like a good way to do it, especially since everyone can also check for activity changes. btw, I was on the same cruise, that's where I learned about DISers and the boards. as soon as I returned home, I got online and started checking it out and now - of course - I'm hooked.
john, now I really feel better knowing that you're a GTY also. all I have to do is find you....makes it easier....everyone will know where you are. and you're right about waiting...we should probably pay for it before we start worrying about it. Deck Monitors good - Deck Passes not good - I got it!

Honestly, we had a TON of GTY staterooms on our last cruise, because DCL dropped the price dramaticaly a few weeks before the cruise, and MANY of our DIS friends rebooked and saved major $$$$. While it was a challenge with the cabin numbers we had, we found everyone. While the ship is big, it was amazing how much we saw and ran into our DIS friends.
I don't know if you guys will want to go for this, but I will mention it because it really brought the last group together at the terminal, and made a nice photo. Disney Direct had a Disney shirt really cheap on sale, and it came in Lime Green before our last cruise. We decided to all order the same shirt, and at the port, we looked like the Lime Green Army! It was REALLY easy to find all of our DIS friends at the port, and get to meet and greet before boarding.
I would suggest, however, that we give this idea a bit of time. No need to go out and buy shirts now - wait until the group is more firmed up like for the team gifts.
But start keeping your eyes out for deals like that. I think the shirts were maybe $7 each. If any of our friends outside of the US can't order, we could always order for them and hand them out the night before at hotels or something.
When I get a chance, I will try to post a photo of our group.

Send pictures of crush, I love turtles! What kind does Wilson have? I have 3 red-eared sliders, 2 yellow river cooters and 1 eastern painted. I have 4 tanks in my house. Tell Wilson I LOVE that he named him CRUSH! Just wash the mega blocks really well (to eliminate Crush getting sick from new bacteria) before sinking into the tank and Crush will love to hang out on it! Remind Wilson to wash his hands also everytime he's done handling Crush or any of his posessions. Turtles can carry Salmanilla (spelled that wrong, sorry John) and it's under control as long as you wash. You have to remember that you don't want to give him your germs and you don't want his germs. I've had turtles for 12 years and I have never had any problems.

But start keeping your eyes out for deals like that. I think the shirts were maybe $7 each. If any of our friends outside of the US can't order, we could always order for them and hand them out the night before at hotels or something.
When I get a chance, I will try to post a photo of our group.
We did that, too! It was so cool seeing everyone dressed in the same shirt...looked like a big ole family reunion...but no one looked alike! LOL:rotfl: We should soooo do this! John your picture is awesome! The kids :dance3: is great!
Thanks everyone for your kind words about Spice...I told my daughter I am a goober and I spoke before I thought. She's o.k. now...no requests for new pets (whew) 'cause we have a whole house full, still.

Well, after 5 1/2 years without, I learned Friday what I've been missing out on! Never did anything like that in my 20s, so I'm making up for it almost double-time! (Get it? I'm almost 40. :rotfl: )
I think me having a semester off law school was a very dangerous idea. I need to get back to my responsible self! :rolleyes1

You know what I always, always, always do? Whenever I type a long post (or e-mail, for that matter), I always select & copy it just in case something happens. Just an old habit leftover from when I had dial-up many years ago and always got booted offline at the wrong time and lost long e-mails often. It only takes an extra second and is worth not having to deal with the hassle and frustration of losing a long post or e-mail. :thumbsup2

John: I'm in for the group shirts and I definitely want to see the group photo, when you can.
Here is a photo of some of the kids at the terminal in their shirts . . . Sophia has the bow in her hair, and Kim's DD (Kimerinc) is the cute redhead holding her hand. Angie's grandson has his back to you . . .

Here is the group photo on Deck 9 . . . not even half of us remembered to get there, but I am in the front row - seated, and PJ is in the photo too, back row, very left end, and Angie and Dennis are in the photo too, about in the middle, Dennis in back, Angie in front of him . . .

I was figuring we would end up with an excel spread sheet with everyones name on it. Once we had everyones's name and cabin on the list, we could pass to the list to the floor monitors. Sounds like it would work like a phone tree system we used when my kids were in school.
Just my thoughts...

angie and auntie pj, a DIS name on the door or a stocking on the fish would definitely sound off the alarm that this was a fellow DIS...and liserann's mickey heads especially!
The only thing that concerns me about the Mickey heads is if people are switched around. I caught where John wrote that on a previous sailing a bunch of people had their cabins switched, which created some problems in delivering goodies. My original plan was to walk the decks with the boys and deliver the Mickey heads....thought it would be good exercise....but now it sounds like it could be an exercise in futility if people are switched around. Perhaps I should hand them out at our first onboard DIS meets? I'll still keep a record of the cabin numbers in case I miss someone...what do you guys think?? I want to do what makes most sense. :confused3

Carolyn, were you trying to get something for Sunday night?
I looked halfheartedly, thinking we could stay Sun and Mon nights and play at the parks (and FINALLY get to visit California Adventure), but the quotes at the park hotels and realizing it was a busy premier/dining weekend scared me off. We're planning on just driving up that afternoon, dining and dashing, unless LiserAnn encounters problems with the early 5:30pm time. We're just playing it by ear. I'd guess you could find something off site. There are TONS with shuttle service.
Good luck...

He is a go-kart racer much to his father's pride and joy (& mother's worry)
They go about twice a month up to Dixon, CA (near Davis/Sacramento) about 1.5 hours from home. He has been doing this for about 1 1/2 years now and is loving it more each time he goes.
Unfortuately, I just looked at the rest of my calendar for his season and I have a girl scout meeting on every race...which means no race days for me this year (bummer) but at least he and his Dad can enjoy their bonding time.

The switching is precisely why I suggested an excel spreadsheet. If someone changes their cabin, they can call me and leave a voicemail on my SR voicemail. That way I could change the SR number and notify the floor monitor. What do you guys think?

Yes, I should know better! Especially since it happened just a few days ago. Live and learn! Well, hopefully learn. Sometimes don't we all find it difficult (or inconvenient or something) to APPLY WHAT WE KNOW? We all know what to do to eat healthy, take preventative measures, exercise our bodies, be NICE to people if we want them to be nice back.....all that stuff.

I took pictures (of course!) Karen
Love, love, LOVE the idea of a sleepover not in my house! Of course I can't do the whole make-over session for my boys (well, maybe for Jack :rolleyes1 my Barbie loving 6 year old). Oooooooooh.....firemen (wiping drool off my chin)! Glad everybody's safe too.
When we moved into our house about 2 years ago, we had some light fixture spark and heat came out of the wall. So we called the fire dept (much to my husband's objection -"it is under control" "there is smoke" "fine, do whatever". So next thing I know, these 3 hunk of men (sorry John - girl talk) come to my door. I didn't know what to do. Do I call my single sister and tell her to come right away? Do I ask them to come to a dinner party? What I am wearing? I couldn't think of anything. All I could say is "my son loves fire, I mean firemen. Come here Aidan. Show him show firetruck" They said, "Madam, do you have a problem here?" I say no, well yes, well, no my husband doesn't think so. Well touch this wall. It is hot." I was SO embarressed. I couldn't speak! The moral of the story: if you have a reason to call the fireman, be sure to call all you single girlfriends and have them come 9-1-1. Have your husband do the talking and just sit back and watch!

One of my friends that helped with the hotel makeover party has 2 boys and did this at a different hotel with an indoor pool (both of her boys have winter b-day's too.) The boys swam, watched movies, had pizza and popcorn and all they could eat breakfast in the morning!! I think it was the Embassy Suites in Pleasant Hill, CA.

Well, aren't we all just a bit OCD...I mean we are already planning bunco nights, photos, etc for a cruise way too many days away :lmao: :rotfl2: For me....it makes me think it will happen sooner!!! Alas, it is still in the 400+ day count :sad1: :sad2:I have already bought several small things for the girls for the cruise...don't tell DH! :cool1: Good thing I have lots of storage in my office, he never knows when I do things like that...and then when I do bring it out...."Did you just buy that?" says DH. Fourth. How's everyone doing finding rooms for the DIS MEET???? I can't get anything Saturday night though I MAY still be able to get time share for Sunday/Monday, but I really wanted to arrive Sat so I could hit the parks Sunday morning.
Carolyn, were you trying to get something for Sunday night?
Cheri, have you checked out rooms yet? I know you wanted to do the red carpet on Saturday (my idea of a living-hell)?
I know Noel couldn't find anything in the DCL resorts, have people tried the area hotels???
ok...heading home now....back later........
I checked Hotwire a few days ago and there were rooms, but I haven't booked anything yet. Maybe I'll do that this week.
BTW I'm not looking for Disney properties, etc. I'm just looking for cheap!

Marilyn,
When will you be there in November? We will be staying after our cruise, if all goes well with our new shop, from around the 18th till after Thanksgiving.
Karen
Karen, we arrive Sunday 25th November, late afternoon, hopefully staying at POFQ. It would be so lovely to meet you. I hope you aren't off home that day!
Dog logs.
You're lucky....not a speck of green here yet. :sad2: I can't wait until the smell of the neighborhood the first time everybody mows. I just love the fresh-mowed smell!
Someone near us cut their grass at the weekend and it just smelled gorgeous. It is really one of those special smells.:)

The switching is precisely why I suggested an excel spreadsheet. If someone changes their cabin, they can call me and leave a voicemail on my SR voicemail. That way I could change the SR number and notify the floor monitor. What do you guys think?
I think you're right and we do need a spreadsheet. In fact, I already started one to keep track of the names and cabins numbers of those who want DISmagnets. (I love excel-I'm such a geek, I know). We have a LOT of GTY folks!
LiserAnn, you and Noel should coordinate and be the managers of the stateroom numbers matching them to the names. Noel has a great system and if you worked with her, it should eliminate chaos.
I am happy to help Lisa in any way I can. Just let me know!!
I think that's what we need to do, so what's the best plan on this? We start with a master sheet that you have in your stateroom and then you'll make the adjustments on it as people call?

She is just lovely! Her eyes are amazing and I personally like the piercings! Mekayla has her nose pierced and I have a few myself.
Mandy...Love the picture of Becky! Very striking and love her eyes.
No piercings here! (Well, besides one boring small hole in each earlobe. So not cool enough for Becky or Mekayla or Thea...)
Carolyn
Thanks everyone! I don't really mind the piercings apart from her septum, but she's had loads of piercings over the last few years (including piercing her own eyebrow...ouch!). The worst was when she ahd her lip pierced and it got swollen and the ring was embedded in her lip!!!:scared1: That took a hospital trip to sort out!:sad2:

Wow! Those eyes are killer. For someone with constant allergies though, the nose ring would never work for me! I would sneeze one off in a New York Minute!
Hmmmmm . . . just noticed she is 18 . . . would she like to meet a 19 (20 this summer) future American doctor???:rotfl2:
DS Alex is now trying to figure out what to do this summer, his friend, who was to go to Europe with him this summer is chickening out on him. Unfortunately, most of his friends are only 1/2 done with college, and not so much in the mood to travel like Alex is.

Great picture, what a lovely family!
She is so pretty! I love that she has such strong sense of self! If I had a daughter, that would be my daughter (I would hope!)! Lisa
Lisa, thank you for your lovely words. What a very sweet thing for you to say:hug:
I'm posting as i see - so I had already posted that she presents as someone with a strong sense of self. and now I read this. Whatever she has gone through, I think perhaps it has given her much wisdom. Lisa
That's exactly how we see it too. You know the saying..."What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" ...or something along those lines!
Lisa
Lis
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: loved that image!
reminds me of the time when Becky and her little friend Rachel (both aged 4) locked themselves in my friend's bathroom (which they'd just had built as part of an extension!). The local fire station was just a few houses away so my pal ran down the road to ask them to break in for us, thinking we could keep it quiet....but no they had to actually get the engine out, siren going, and 3 burly firemen attended, took out the window and climbed through to rescue the girls....who were quite happily playing inside with their Barbies.
Couldn't have organised it better....there were 7 of us ladies and our various toddlers having a coffee afternnon at the time....looked like we'd laid on the entertainment!;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Angel,
Thanks for your kind offer of assistance, and if Alex does decide to make his way to the UK this summer, I may ask for advice.
As to the rest, if he even suspected I posted something like that, he may not speak to me for a long time. He is actually a somewhat shy and very private young man - just like his mother. Amy is also that way until she gets to know you.
This makes for good comic relief in our house, because his mom really wants to know what is going on in his (love) life, and he does NOT like to discuss it! I am the more open one, and I NEVER ask!

O.K. easy enough, but who's gonna' roam up and down the halls?
We did! Since there was a large group of DISers, there were some on every deck. So, Dennis and I grabbed our pirate beads and went down every hall. He took one side of the ship I took the other and we met in the middle, then up to the next deck. Anyone who had a stocking on the door and door signs or Mickey DIS heads got beads in their stocking. :thumbsup2 It really did not take the two of us too long to make the rounds.

I'm usually free in the evenings (after 730p weekdays) and on the weekends.
We had the same exact thing happen in 1974. I am glad to hear you are all on the mend. DB broke his thumb. No surgery for him.

My mother inlaw had the same thing happen to her on a visit to her DD's house. She had every test and nothing conclusive. She went home and had another episode. Her family MD detemined she needed a pacemaker. She's been fine since then.

I started back at the gym last week too. My gym has started all these new dance fitness classes (no, I am not doing the "striptease" one (yes they do offer that but without the actual pole:lmao: )) but they are definately a new thing for me. Not used to shaking my bootie that much:rotfl: Last night as our class was ending a police car was partolling the parking lot and sat there and watched the end of the class...anyone else think that is kind of freaky?! He was sitting there for at least 15 minutes!
By the way, I am sure I am one of the last to realize this as a relative newbie, but, has anyone ever read one of V's trip reports?! They are a hoot! I was reading her report from the december cruise...but I don't think it is done yet.:confused3 If you haven't read one yet, go check them out. I have enjoyed reading them.
And one last question.....what is WPASADI? I noticed it on some people's signature lines.

I love your comment about new stuff....I do the same thing DH: "Honey did you just get that?", me: "Oh no, I've had that for few months, you must have missed it". All true, no fibbs.....
Sounds like our house!! After 20+ years of marriage, huby just rolls his eyes.
I have to admit thinking about dressy clothes as I don't normally wear them, but I am hoping to be a good few lbs less by then!!!
Though, I am also wondering how not to wear all the summer clothes and shoes I like this year, so they will still be nice for the cruise!!!
My cruise box consists of the lovely fish extender at the moment!!!
Hit the summer sales is my motto for 2007!!
Lots to catch up on.....but few thoughts of mine to add....
I think your excel spreadsheet idea is perfect. Since I already have one going for the Private Palo Brunches, just a matter of cut and paste.
Noel/Lisa - my OCD came out early and I started a spreadsheet of all the info on page 1 (but need to update)...so if you want my help, let me know.
Ooohh...would love a copy of that spreadsheet. Pm me and I will give you my email address.
This was my thought exactly...it was funny reading through the posts and seeing several of us thinking alike!! I even thought "someone else (Noel) will mention it too!!" How funny is that :lmao:
AWESOME IDEA
DOn't they say great minds think alike?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I guess there are more of us OCD types out there than we realize! Yes, after Noel and I come up with a plan, I'm sure we can use what you started. Thanks!
Absolutely!!! We have such a great group!! Now if only the time will speed up!!

I will try and post a picture later of my family/girls, but right now I can't make my computer resize them and the pictures are too big!
Better get back to work. Will try and catch up on posts later.
I used to manage a swim school that was inside a gym and there would be cops all the time. I finally asked one day and they said it was because gyms are notorious for theft. I just thought they were watching all the girls shake their booty.:rotfl: I am sure a little of that was going on also.
I love V's trip report.

I really miss all the trip reports that people used to do. It feels like there are less and less. I feel like people got so intimidated from the other trip reports because people were getting jumped on for something they posted. If people like what they are reading post it. If not don't read it. Do you think I should say something or not on the other thread? I love the humor and great writing that has been going on but I also know there are a lot more people out there. I like reading about the bad also it gives me reality check.

Luckily I am a pretty fast reader but still....I was up until around 2am last night...and then with the time change, not so fun getting up!

I had my own e-bay event this weekend. I have only been on e-bay 5 times in my life. But, and John you started this, my SIL brought her Wii over this weekend and my little girl had so much fun!! She hates video games, vsmile, nintendo, all of it. She is having a problem with timed test in school. When it gets to close, she just guesses. Even though when not timed she does perfectly, timed is not so good so we have been trying to think of a way to help her.
Seriously, how can a 6 year old girl skate competitively in front of judges, but can't handle the pressure of tests. She says it is because when she gets on the ice she just feels different and all the nervousness goes away.
Anyway, they suggested video games. Did not work, she won't play. Loved the Wii. Tried to find one, decided there was not enough time on the planet for me to go every day to each store to see if a shipment came in.
Sunday, I won my own on e-bay for $35 over list. Totally worth the $35 to never go back to those stores again.

For those of you who don't know, my sweet cousin is in the Miss USA pagent on March 23rd. My aunt is so excited she calls me every day to give me updates. So if you are not already inclined to a contestant, here is my cousin Heather.

As far as the Wii goes, we got one the other day and really enjoy the Banana something game. It is a bunch of mini games that you can play by yourself or against another. Beautiful day here today. In the low 70's and sunny. Makes me believe that spring will actually come. And makes me glad that I retired 1 1/2 years ago so that I can enjoy it.
We are also GTY, and I bet we aren't the only ones along with you! I think we should wait a bit longer before we start to worry about this, but I think the idea of "Deck Monitors" is a good one as long as I don't need a "Deck Pass" to walk around. :rotfl:
We are GTY too. Like DH says, not to worry, we are on the ship and that is what counts. Besides, maybe we will get an upgrade. You think?
You know what I always, always, always do? Whenever I type a long post (or e-mail, for that matter), I always select & copy it just in case something happens. Just an old habit leftover from when I had dial-up many years ago and always got booted offline at the wrong time and lost long e-mails often. It only takes an extra second and is worth not having to deal with the hassle and frustration of losing a long post or e-mail. :thumbsup2
I have found that when this happens to me if I hit the back button it will take me back to what I was writing and I can resubmit it.
I was figuring we would end up with an excel spread sheet with everyones name on it. Once we had everyones's name and cabin on the list, we could pass to the list to the floor monitors. Sounds like it would work like a phone tree system we used when my kids were in school.
Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:
Noel, sounds like a great idea and much easier than everyone trying to hunt down the hall monitors. Especially since there seems to be so many of us.
Now why would that be? :lmao:
John,
I am with you. Love all the ideas but I keep hesitating in joining a lot because things could change drastically between now and final payment time. Love the idea of the shirts, though.
The switching is precisely why I suggested an excel spreadsheet. If someone changes their cabin, they can call me and leave a voicemail on my SR voicemail. That way I could change the SR number and notify the floor monitor. What do you guys think?
Noel
Again, I like the idea. Means you only have to remember one name to call.
My GS who is 7 is crazy about jumping his bike on a ramp!! He wanted us to buy him a small dirt bike. I guess they have them kid size or something. NOT ME!!!
Sounds like he and Wilson would get on like a house afire. I wish you guys were on this years NYE cruise and not next!!
Noel
I have a 6 yo GS whose parents bought him an ATV and his 8 yo brother a small dirt bike. I am just waiting on them to call me that one has been taken to the hospital. The 6 yo is a real dare devil. Broke his arm last year trying to do a back flip off his electric car like one of the NASCAR racers does.
This picture of the turtle has me thinking. This question is for everyone,
"Are you a turtle?"
You bet your sweet a** I am. Became one lots of years ago.
Going to take a nap. Went to see the dentist because of major toothache and am now on meds. Not much sleep last night either.
Oh yes, there will be a Fish Extender update later after the "shipping department" gets things ready to go into the mail.

My DD really struggled with timed test also. We thought she would not be good at math but the reverse happened. Don't let it get to you. Remember she is only six and I know I was not multiplying at six. We have some smart kids. We did some of the online test and a lot of times they are the same test as the school gives. I would let her do one normal and then give her one timed. Just ask the teacher to give you a bunch and give her some each night. I remember looking at the stickers at open house and my DD only had a couple completed. The mothers were like, "whats wrong with you." Now DD does the math team. Who is looking at who know. WOOHOO! 71 degrees right now! I was supposed to pick Tyler up from day care an hour ago, but didn't have the heart to. When I got there and saw the kids playing on the playground, I knew he wouldn't want to come with me anyway, so I'm letting him have more fun. He's been waiting to play outside there again all winter. Let him live it up today because tomorrow and Thursday are supposed to be thunderstorms all day, and then back in the 30s for a few days with snow again. So I'm off to pick him up so we can play outside together, probably at a park. Whew! I was a little OCD there...myself.

I knew I'd have to confess this sooner or later...we the kids and I are DS freaks. We play Animal Crossing all the time and visit each other regularly. We live in a worlds where I can pay off a mortgage in a week or less and fish and buy clothes and house stuff with out a care in the world.
Hello, my name is Nanette and I am a DS Animal Crossing addict.
I holding off on getting Wii because I think we'll never get to see tv shows. If I can get a bigger tv in our bedroom (for the Wii) that would be ok. The kids can play it in there while we are watching tv in the family room.

Ahhh, Firemen as entertainment... Works for me!!!:cool1:

It was super slow last night (early this morning) and even went away again...:confused3
I was going to post "just one more picture" last night, but alas, the moment has passed! :rolleyes1
Maybe tonight when I am back home on the laptop where all of the pictures live now!!:surfweb:

Whew! Had to do a major search for a picture I could copy/paste.
To all you youngsters out there, that is Alejando Rey. He did a bazillion TV shows and lots of movies, like "Fun in Acapulco" with Elvis. He had a great smile, wish I could have found a picture of him smiling.
Hey sister! I had a huge crush on this guy - what brought this up? Just found your post in the sea of "are you kidding me? I can't keep up on this thread!"

For those of you who don't know, my sweet cousin is in the Miss USA pagent on March 23rd. My aunt is so excited she calls me every day to give me updates. They really need this, they have had a very rough 2 years so the positives are wonderful. Anyway, she asked me to ask everyone I know who is watching the show to vote for her as most photogenic. So if you are not already inclined to a contestant, here is my cousin Heather.

I personally think she should win and to heck with the photogenic, but I admit EXTREME bias in this situation.
Thanks everyone!!!

What a beautiful gal! I hope she does well, I didn't miss the contest did I? I don't post much on this thread - too hard to keep up, but I pray she wins - how great for your family.

has anyone who's booked through DU received a written mailed confirmation?
V-not a thing! Other than the emailed confirmation from them. Do they typically send a written mailed confirmation?

That's it, The Theives have been sent to Coventry! We're Coventry Theives! LOL:rotfl: Better than Plundering Pirates, I'd say!

Hey anyone with DD's between 10-12!
Kristin is having a real hard time with chatting because of school, homework and sports schedule. She would love to give any of your DD's her e-mail address so they can get to know each other. PM me if you would like it. That way they can talk directly. She has not been on in awhile so I don't know if that is happening already.
PM'd you regarding this. I posted pictures of her on page 551 (just a few...)

Kim,
Is there a section where we vote on that specific category. Is it the day of the competition or now? Never mind I think it is the day of the competition from reading your post. She is beautiful.
