We got an email on that too... still working on compliance!!

John1 warned me that this would happen...:rolleyes1

Karen

Karen, changing you words to size #1 (instead of the default #2) may help somewhat and shortening the Champagne Girls line so that the words and pictures all fit on one line should help too.

KIDS...you can always post on the tech board and they will help you re-size an pics if necessary too!

I'm feeling very sad. I don't have enough time to keep up and I am afraid of missing something. Clearly I already have... WHAT IS THE CHAMPAGNE GIRLS? I'm really more of a MEMOSA gal, but come on somebody pm me and let me know if the drink of the day has now become a full blown club of Champagne girls....:scared:

Does anyone else feel like they are missing out on cool stuff? I can't keep up with 10 pages a day let alone some days when I've had over 30~! Ok, that might have been two days. I just come to the end and go back a few pages now. I can't do much more than that. :hourglass

Not much for me to report. Getting excited about my Surf N Turf in December.

Oh, before I forget...how on earth could a gal who lives in the desert buy UGGS? My poor feet would fall off from the heat. Speaking of feet

Did anyone hear the report of Brittany Spears taking her shoes off in 1st CLASS and people were complaining??? :sad2: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I just flippped thur "Eonline" one night and heard that. SOOO FUNNY! :sad2:

Ok, that was my "funny" for the day. Hope everyone is having a good time and I hope I'll have more time to jump in and chat soon!!!! Just two more weeks and I should be more available. (not that any of you actually care)... just and fyi. :headache:

to find out that "boy or girl" question. My biggest fear (besides there being 2 inside me) was of having a girl, so I about jumped for joy when I found out he was a boy! :rotfl2: I knew I'd have absolutely no idea what to do with a girl! :rotfl:

Me, too! I'm learning as I go along. She will not learn anything remotely fashionable from me, but she has managed to get both her dad and I to do her nails. Baby steps... (Oh, and she has had some rather creative hair dos from her brothers...)

I also feel the pressure to keep up or I'd drown, so for me that means reading as I can and posting when I want.

Don't let our ramblings put you off. It will be a great big party all of us when we sail

Off to girl scout leaders meeting tonight, perhaps I'l proposed that we go visit an out of town place and take in a few of the city sights!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: yup you got my drift I'm sure....

Miss Molly got some for Xmas (purple) I decided that I needed some too (green) love them. But now it's too hot to wear them.

We also have been having the "it's too short" conversation in my house. It's not because she wants to wear things short, it's because she grows inches in her legs over night. What a lucky girl. She is supposed to be 5'8'-5'10", me 5'2" not fair :confused3

Did you notice that we are talking about SHOES again :scared1: popcorn:: :lmao:

Nan,

Sounds like we are twinsies! I am 5'2" as well, and DD will probably end up around 5'8". DH is REALLY tall (compared to me!):rotfl:

Here is what DU told me. I think this price is EXTREMLEY HIGH so do the words no way in **** mean anything? I will book on my own thanks....

Thank you for your email.

DCL is offering a two or three night stay before or after the west coast sailings. As you are on the repositioning cruise, yours would be a post night stay.

For your party, the cost of two nights in a standard room at the Disneyland Hotel would be $1086.50. This pricing does not include tickets to the parks. This pricing is directly from DCL.

As Disneyland is not currently booking 2008 dates, we can not check pricing for a concierge suite. When the 2008 dates are released, we will be happy to help your reservation.

Hope this helps everyone!

Kim
Kim - that is the V party suite which holds say about ------ 13?

Because I bug kevin all the time about my cat 3 that I want SOOOOO BAD, this is what he said about this cruise:
Currently, both repositioning cruises are sold out. I call each and every day and there are no rooms available in any category. Also, I am not going to stumble on an available category 3 stateroom. As there is a waitlist, I will have to wait for DCL to contact me if one becomes available and you are next on the list. If they contact me, I have a short window of opportunity in which to contact you and for you to reply.
I am so looking to move up - but looks like no chance right now...I am happy to be aboard!

I finally got some good pictures of the puppy and kitty....Angel and Ella

So with all this signature warning business....it has me wondering when I'll get my warning?!?! :confused3 I guess I don't understand what's in the signature that causes it to be flagged. Mine seems to be like everyone elses in size?! :confused3

Here is what I was PM'ed:

You may have up to 12 lines of text maximum in your signature inclusive of any code required to post your selected graphics. Your graphics may not exceed 550 pixels in width in total and or 200 pixels in height individually. You may have a total of 3 images in your signature, including tickers. Those images may total up to 50000 bytes.

Please take a few minutes to adjust your signature to comply. If you need assistance making these adjustments, please ask on the Technical Support Forum.

We are diligently trying to get all signatures to comply as this will add to the efficiency of the boards.

Next is the kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedrooms, etc. We bought a fixer upper and we're constantly fixing it up...but the mortgage is low coz we got a great price!!! ...more money for DIScruising!!!:wizard: :wizard:

Okay, my mother board crashed on my laptop. This is my business laptop and the procedure is to drive to the nearest service center for help. 100 miles away. I was there all day on Tuesday and I got NO work done. They told me it was fixed. I woke up on Wednesday and it was not working again.:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

This morning I spent 4 hours on the phone with Dell, because I did not want to do that drive again. Well, Dell could not help me....off to my 100 mile drive again tomorrow. I am so frustrated!!

They say they are giong to "re-image" my hard drive.....what ever that is:confused3 :confused3

I get about 200 work e-mails a day....so my guess is I have about 400 unanswered e-mails. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

So I have been absent....now I am on my daughter's laptop....

Unfortunately, I have no idea. Despite the fact that this will be my 5th Disney cruise, I've never re-booked onboard. Never been able to bring that much extra money with me. :sad2: Bums me out to think of all the savings I lost! But I know the pros here will have an answer for you! :thumbsup2

This is our fourth cruise and we've never rebooked on board either. Hopefully we will rebook on the WB for the 2009.

Those are funny. Allright, I'm still here. My dd came out "dressed" if thats what you can call it! Too short shorts with uggs? What kind of look is that? I sent her back to her room to try again. I am all for letting our kids dress themselves..even if it doesn't match (which is very hard for me) but not when they come out looking like...well anyways. She's deciding on a new outfit. Then we're off to home depot.
Cya
S

We were in line at Target tonight behind a girl with mint green UGG boots, a mini skirt and a cropped t-shirt. Quite the look...

Thanks for the warning Lisa, I'll make sure I'm holding the camera when we do dinners together. Last cruise we sat with previous discruise friends from Phoenix and we used their camera to take pics of them and they used our camera to take pics of us...maybe we won't do this with your DH. We'll let you take the shots!!!

I ALWAYS take the pictures whenever we are in the parks and someone else asks us - even if they hand the camera to DH he then gives it to me!

Thanks so much PJ. What we would do without you and your amazing computer skills? By the way, I am 1 step closer to getting my first macbook....my office laptop that I run one of my diagnostic tests on just died so I need a new computer, darn!

I know how you feel. I am so frustrated with my dell laptop, but luckily I don't have to drive that far to get it fixed. At this point, I am just throwing it in the garbage because it gives me only headaches. Hope it gets fixed so you can get back to :surfweb: quickly!

That's right....tonight is another episode of LOST. Let's all hope it offers something more than having me scratch my darn head!!!! popcorn:: :happytv:

I am excited:cool1: and am using all the pixiedust: I can find to hope they give us something good to finally make sense of some of it.

Only one song we really sing at Pascha (Easter) . . .

Do my Greek friends remember the Christos Anesti hymn?

I sing it every year...despite the fact that I don't speak greek and I'm not sure how to properly pronounce everything....much less try to spell it here...but I sing it anyway with my lighted candle and I try not to burn my hair...

Every year I would go to church with my grandmother and she would remind me not to burn my hair, she kept repeating to me all through mass...watch your hair, watch your hair (I had long hair when I was younger). Don't you know the very first year I went to church after she died, I lit my hair on fire. I just looked up and said Christos Anesti Gran!:cloud9:

No need to post, or like I said, I will be drinking in a corner all by myself. All you women recruit your men for the Beer Boys. While I am not a big drinker, I have been known to toss a nice cold one at dinner.

I'm sure I could get my DH to be a "beer boy" as well. Now this logo needs to have Peter Pan in it (you might have already said that) so that it matches with our tinkerbell logo! And, we'll have to make sure he has really great shoes! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Uhoh, I see us OCD planners coming up with a whole new concept in t-shirts for embarkation day! And, with disney's new t-shirt design place I bet it could be done pretty easily (except lime green isn't a color option:sad2: )

Most of the hair burning at our church takes place on Good Friday, when women with long hair try to take their candles with them as they stoop to go beneath the "Epitaphio".

If you need any help with your Greek, I can help. I do not remember the exact translation I can post it later in the week when my son brings home my Easter Liturgy book. He is going to church nightly in Youngstown for Holy Week until Friday with a girl one year his junior, from his High School, who is also Greek, and in the same medical program as him. She is a super nice and smart girl - and Greek to boot! Don't know if this is "dating" and I dare not ask as it will peeve him.

Yes, it could be Peter Pan instead of the Lost Boys. The Lost Boys would be funny, but Peter might be more in keeping with the theme.

Yes, but the Lost Boys might be better since most of the "beer boys" won't have any idea what they are up for (as they don't post here or read here often). And, you didn't comment on the shoes....what type of shoes do you think you need? :rotfl2: Maybe some Uggs? Might be too hot for the cruise though.

Yeah, I'll wear some really short shorts, some Uggs, and a beer boy t-shirt to the deck sailaway party, and they can put the gangplank back for everyone who will then abandon ship.

Behind your bar of behind the Magic bar :rotfl:

Off to work....and......the gym again. That will make 5 times in a week. If I continue this pace, I'll be shopping for new clothes before I know it! Not sure where this round of motivation came from, but I'll take it! :cool1: I guess I need to buy a scale now, but I'll wait a couple weeks (at least) if I can stand the anticipation. I can't wait to see if there's any result.....but I do remember that I usually gain first since muscle weighs more than fat. So I probably won't weigh myself until I see my clothes getting loose.

Way to go Holly! Keep up the good work at the gym.

Let me know, it was just a empty colouring page and I filled her in, so I can make any changes you all would like.

Opps!

Well, duh, I am lucky I didn´t have to do the pink think because I would never have thought about looking for an empty colouring page, I was thinking that it must be hard to put the pink instead of the green, etc. I am definetly way over tired.

Alejandro.....you spelled it right! :thumbsup2 He's history. Long story short, I found out he has a WIFE back home in Mexico! Lots of people called her and told her about us, so he called me and fessed up. I was pretty crushed because I got hooked by his killer smile really fast, but I'm OK with it now because I know that just means there's somebody better out there somewhere, just waiting for me to find him.

I am sorry about Alejandro. Stupid man, hurting both you and his wife.

OK folks....I hate to drop a bomb and run (no, I didn't fart....I meant my Alejandro woes), but I'm headed to bed so I can be refreshed and brilliant for work in the morning. :goodvibes Goodnight all!

I know Christos Anesti means Christ has risen...but that's all I know. I would so LOVE it if you could do a translation, if you don't mind.

What a great connection for your son...medical program and greek! OK don't ask if they're dating, just ask if she's coming to dinner on Sunday.

Are you cooking the official lamb? Mom said she'll do the lamb, but nothing else...she's still recovering. So I'm dying the red eggs and DH is making the potatoes and veggies and spinach pie. Oh, mom did the Easter bread tonight too, but her adult DGD helped her with it.

Next year, If Easter is later in April and I can keep the bread from spoiling, I'll bring some on the ship in May, especially for you and Lisa and anyone else who wants to taste. Mom isn't making baklava this year, it's too much for her.

How is your dad? Is he recovering well and will he be at dinner with you on Sunday?

He will on occasion, Superbowl Sunday, drink some Coronas with lime that I make him pick up for us coz that's my favorite beer and I'm the football fan. So he'll be happy to join you.

That's so sweet Marilyn, I love hearing "how we met" love stories. I want to hear more, ok everybody, how did you meet?

Dh and I met when we were about 7 years old. We used to go to the same school and to the same tennis club, our moms even carpooled for some time :scared1: (definetly my mom had no idea of how bad a driver my MIL is)

Oh I will be so sad but so happy when that happens. I am just starting, the little one will start soccer this fall.:scared1: My DD's are 6 years apart so it will be some time before I get to be an empty nester.

Was it hard for the oldest when the youngest was born? Dd is 4.5 and we are still considering having another baby, but the age gap is somewhat of a deterrent.

Hey mouse surplus has the Disney Cruise Line comforters on sale. Anyone want a comforter that God knows what happened to I doubt these are NWIT. Where is black light Barb when you need her?

EEEEWWWWWW :scared1:

I met my DH at a party at my brother's house when I was 18. He had just got back from a one year tour with his "rock band" :hippie: out on Canada's East Coast. He was seated , with many friends around him, telling of all his great tales while away:goodvibes I was drawn to him, and listened along with everyone else. I met up with him a couple more times while at my brother's, then he asked me out for a first date for my 19th birthday We were married when I was 21 (he was 24) and had a wonderful daughter and son together. We were married for 23 wonderful years and I never grew tired of listening to his stories:goodvibes We would constantly over the years meet up with people that knew my DH but that I didn't know and it would be so interesting to listen to them discuss days gone by...it seemed to be a lifelong journey getting to know my DH and I loved him more each day. I lost my dear husband to cancer 5 yrs ago
Even at his memorial I had a few strangers introduce themselves to me and say they had known my DH in school and how they remembered him because he was so kind, never a bad word about anyone, and for the wonderful stories he told We miss him terribly, but his love lives on with us forever.
Kathe

Kathe,

I am so sorry for your loss. At the same time that is so comforting to know that so many cared for him. My father was very similar and people still share stories with me about him. He was the rock of our family and has been greatly missed. My dad will have been gone 14 years in September and I still get great stories from his friends with smiles and happiness. As you know it helps a little with the pain when others share the happy times.:goodvibes I wish you and your family all the happiness in the future.

Poor Drew! :sad1: No fun! At Tyler's 4 year checkup, he wouldn't have needed any immunizations, but it was noticed that a HIB shot had been forgotten along the way. His doc told me that since this would be the first time he'd be old enough to remember the shot, bringing him back the following year would be a nightmare for the 4 he'd need then, so she gave me the option to do all of them at once that day. We did...and I'm glad we did because when I took him to the doc when he had strep not too long ago, he didn't want to go because he thought he'd need shots! :scared1: But I assured him that he won't need any for a while. :thumbsup2

My DD is the complete opposite. We went to the dr a couple of weeks before her 4th birthday and he was checking the immunizations chart and said that she was due for a shot, but that since she wasn´t prepared for it before hand, it could wait until next visit, but Estrella really surprised him by asking him to give the shot that day instead of waiting. :scared1: Definetly she doesn´t take after either dh or me on this.

I just have it saved under my favorites list so all I have to do is click and it takes me to the last page I was on. Love it!

How do you do it? It always takes me either to the current date that I am checking, or I have to browse the page numbers to find the last one I read.

Room is supposed to be a little noisy, so I went and bought industrial strength ear plugs (good for working on heavy machinery or shooting) so I figure we will sleep through anything. I will see if I can find any more of those tiaras...I think we are going to need LOTS!!!!

You are soooooo lucky about going on the Med repo, and also about the upgrade!

Well, I stole it from Haley Mills! I think it was from The Parent Trap. I know I've been using it since about 5th grade, so the timing would be right. I was (I guess I still am) a HUGH Haley Mills fan...as many of the pre-teen girls of my generation were.

It is from "The Trouble with Angels". I love that movie, and I just watched it between monday and tuesday while I was walking in the elliptical trainer. DD was :rotfl2: like crazy at the movie, and she doesn´t even understand half of it (no Spanish option on the DVD).

afternoon, or early evening everyone!
We got back around 3:30 - probably when John1, Amy and Sophie were taking off. Had a great time...wish we could have stayed longer. I am still amazed at making friends over the internet...I mean, obviously friends, who like different teams and can still speak....(Johnny is not great at that...) and even whom I feel great just being around and not having to worry about conversation...--sorry I was so quiet!!---
Here are some pictures..

It looks like you had a lot of fun, loved the pictures!

The Parent Trap was good, but my all-time favorite is The Trouble With Angels! I also loved Pollyanna.

These 3 are my favorites. Did any one else watch The Parent Trap 2 and 3?

Oh, and I also loved the movie "Back Home" and want to buy it, but it has not yet been released on DVD.

After Trouble With Angels, I begged and pleaded to be sent 'away' to school! Not very likely to happen to a millworkers daughter!

Well, after watching Trouble With Angels I almost wanted to become a nun at one of those schools :lmao:

Fortunately, we found it in the bathroom on the floor the next day....apparently doggie didn't swallow it, but kittie found it and played with it. Thank Goodness!!!:hippie:

I hope you did not have to do a round of poop patrol before finding it :rotfl:

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it! : I just decided I don't really need to air that much dirty laundry here because I know many people have similar problems, if not worse. :flower3: And actually, after each night of heavy prayer, another piece of the puzzle falls into place. So it WILL happen, one way or another. Thanks again!

Whatever it is, I just hope it happens the best way for you.

Good morning.
I remember the first Parent Trap with Hayley Mills. We all wanted to be just like her. Recently she has joined a TV series here set in S. Africa called Wild at Heart. She is the main female character's mother and is excellent. Trouble is now she is in her 60's, so I no longer want to be like her!!:
After the Parent Trap we all wanted to go away to summer camp like you all did!!!:rotfl:

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Im DisneyLover5 daughter i have been playing on teen boards and it is awsome i thought i just say hi :cheer2:

:wizard: :wizard: Thanks for that info...I didn't even think about how close things are from where you stay. I heard they had a tram or something to the different areas. Was anything available like that when you were there? We have already booked and paid for two rooms, The Beach Towers and The Royal Towers. We won't ever go to the Beach Towers, but we can all use the suite in the Royal Towers. I know I'm going to have had enough by 3pm and I'm going to want a shower and change of clothes and food and drinks on the terrace overlooking everything. It's probably the only time I'll get to go there. I won't do anymore 4 night cruises and I probably won't cruise with the whole family again...kids are adults now with their own teens. So we might as well enjoy it while we're all there together.
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I don´t remember there being a tram, at least we didn´t cross its path, because I would not have hesitated to ride it if we had seen it.

The Royal Towers are closer to the newer areas, nowadays I would definetly pay more for the location. You will have a lot of fun in Atlantis.

I checked out their website and WOW!! It looks so fun! I wish we had one around here. Hmmmmm......Note to self: next vacation spot - visit Julie with a side trip to Kidzania! :rotfl:

Definetly do come!

We had a good time at Kidzania today. My good friend from law school heads the legal department so she got me a 60% discount on our tickets

We went with friends, so we had 4 moms and 4 girls, definetly a much better experience that taking dd there alone.

I'm going to start answering, even though I'm not caught up--still at least 5 pages behnd. This "working" thing is really cutting into my DIS time!:rotfl:

Speaking of pins....where does everyone get them from? I usually end up buying some lots of Ebay or getting a few from pinseller.com. Are there any other great sites out there that people have used successfully? Our friends who are joining us have never been to WDW (live in San Jose. CA and only been to DL 1x!!!!!) and the mom just asked for some help getting started on the pin trading stuff for her kids.

I buy "lots" off of eBay. If I'm patient, I can find them where it comes out to less than $3/pin. One time I bought one of those really cheap lots of Euro Disney pins, but I won't do it again. The pins are "official", but they're pretty cheesy and I felt embarrassed to trade them to CMs. They were nothing I'd want to trade FOR. I'd rather pay a little more and have nicer pins to trade--just my personal preference.

Been a little busy. Going to finally finish up our Princess cruise trip. Our favorite port was Belize.
Belize has the second largest barrier reef next to Australia in the world. The water was absolutely amazing!

I've been both snorkeling and diving in Belize--it's one of the best places I've been--LOTS of life!

OT: Elementary School Concerts.....
I remember when I was in elementary we would do 1 or 2 "choir" concerts per year with the whole school. My DD (in 3rd grade) does 1 (3/4 concert) and it is all this weird stuff about harmony, drumming beats, and simple songs. Are all schools teaching this stuff or is it just my DD's? I would love to see them sing some nice songs, not do all this other stuff with pots and pans and boom whackers (yes that is what the teacher called them). Just wondering what other kids were doing. Of course, it was a joy watching DD up there singing and smiling and proud of herself!

As someone else posted, there are state standards that must be covered in music classes, so it's much more than singing now, at ;east here.

Sure you can book a dummy date. Right now, we have a dummy date for Jan '08, which was going to be for another cruise in 2008 (we moved our December 2007 cruise to the WB Repo). Right now, that dummy date is waiting for maybe a January 2009 date to land on. The DCL advance reservation people on board get it too, and know what you are doing - they even use the word "dummy date".

Now weather or not you will be able to move that date to this cruise - that is another question . . .
Based on my experience booking this cruise, I'd say the only way you could apply the onboard discount would be to make an entirely new reservation for whatever the going price is at that time, which even with the 10% discount and SB credit would almost certainly be much higher that the price you have now (IF something was even available). They won't merge 2 reservations together--that's what they said to me anyway.

Here is what DU told me. I think this price is EXTREMLEY HIGH so do the words no way in **** mean anything? I will book on my own thanks....

For your party, the cost of two nights in a standard room at the Disneyland Hotel would be $1086.50. This pricing does not include tickets to the parks. This pricing is directly from DCL.

Are you talking about that pins that look more like plastic than the metal ones? DD have actually traded FOR those pins and I try and tell them not to, but Mom isn't allowed to get involved in the transactions :lmao: I bought some recently...a buy it now one that is 2.45/pin and you choose the number of pins. I think those were all the euro ones as well. They weren't bad and the girls won't mind trading them.

Yea, thats what I understand. I'll ask anyways, it won't hurt to ask right? Otherwise, I will probably book a "dummy date".

Yeah, I'll wear some really short shorts, some Uggs, and a beer boy t-shirt to the deck sailaway party, and they can put the gangplank back for everyone who will then abandon ship.
Night all.
Guess I started something with these uggs. They are very comfy..but can get stinky fast! I would love to have a huge group shot of the guys in their "sailaway outfits" that would make my day!

Kim
OMG! I just got back from a 4day/3night stay at paradise pier. (my fav) and I paid less than 800 with 3 day park hopper tix. We stayed concierge. I personally don't like the disneyland hotel (my pref. though, sorry if anyone disagrees). When I stay concierge I always book paradise pier 3rd Floor. Very important that you book 3rd floor poolside. You get a great patio that leads right out to the pool. It's perfect if you have kids. No other disney hotels offer that! Grand California is nice at any level and very convenient. But the price of a street view is just under the price of concierge at paradise pier.
Just one humble disney vets opinion.

HI Girls & Guy (sorry john just had to) (no offense to woody and surly, but ya guys aren't here that much)

PJ LOVE the logo. Whoops You did it again!

I spent the last few hours snooping HK disney. Not much on the boards for it. I am disappointed to read that we will have a good walk or bus (and still a good walk) to get from Hotel to park. Makes it hard with my mom along. I think we are going to get a colaspable(sp) wheelchair to take with us on this trip.

Looks like we will be at the park on 4th of July. Planning a couple of days there then back to HK to check out the city.

I need to get some pins to take with us to trade. I figure it would be cheaper to trade, but hmmmm do I want to carry those darn pins with me for 2 weeks around China before we get to HKDisney? Might just have to bite the bullet and buy them all there.

my pillow is calling me...catch ya tomorrow, Nan

Do you have much of a break over the Easter weekend? We have Friday and Monday off - we call these holidays over here Bank Holidays. These are any holidays that Banks close historically - Christmas Day and Boxing Day(26th Dec), New Years Day, May Day(for us the 1st Monday in May), Easter, as above, then Spring Bank Holiday(last Monday in May, used to be Whitsuntide, but now a set date), and then August Bank Holiday(last Monday in August) That one just breaks the long time without!!! We don't really have bank holidays associated with Easter, although Friday might be a bank holiday as it is good Friday and some schools and banks are off/closed.

DD is off for a week starting on Monday the 9th, so we are going to go up to the Bodega house from Friday to Wednesday. Business is typically slow this time of year, so I should be able to handle the internet part of it with the laptop in Bodega.

Other bank holidays are Memorial Day, (last Monday in May), Labor Day, (First Monday in September), Veterans Day, (Friday or Monday around the 11th of November), Thanksgiving, (third Thursday in November), Christmas, New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (usually the 2nd or 3rd Monday in January), and President's Day, (2nd or 3rd Monday in February).

Whew, guess that's alot more than I was originally thinking! I have probably missed some. Noel?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh, the suspense! Took me an hour to get caught up here, so I didn't see your questions until just now. Well, I went to bed really early....feeling lousy today. I coughed all night long last night and was lightheaded and stuffy all day, with a huge lump of congestion in my chest all day. Work was the last place I wanted to be today. Yup, Tyler's cold finally caught up with me. I've been really sleep and run down for almost a week, so I knew it was trying to get me. So I was asleep tonight by 9pm I think. Woke up around 3:30am because that lump of congestion decided to finally break up and is creating tons of yucky coughing. Took some more cold meds and figured I'd see what's going on here while waiting for it to take effect.

Goodnight Karen! I'm headed back to bed myself in a few minutes. 4:45am here.....have to get up for work in a couple hours.

AHA!! Wondered if it might be because you fell asleep early!

I hope the cough syrup works. My favorite one lately is Delsium (sp?) it is over the counter and not too bad. The best one that always works that's perscription is the guifeneesen (butchering the spelling!) with codiene. Better living through chemistry!!!;)

Feel better soon!!

Holly, I hope you get back to sleep and feel better in the proper morning!

Karen, Have a good night's sleep.

It's lovely out and we are in for a mini heatwave this weekend and next week - 18-20deg Celsius(sorry, can't convert!).

Hope to do some decorating and gardening and coffeeing:banana: , but had better hold back on the buns with the cholesterol being a bit high!:sad1:
Decided I am too lazy to exercise so will get on with some sorting out in the house - it needs it.

Morning everyone...Maz, isn't it beautiful today?!:cool1:

Must get that washing out on the line soon.....:laundy:

DH went out a bought a cordless mouse...he got a new laptop too and gave up on the touchpad the first day. I'm stubborn and feel like it's a new challenge that I won't let beat me.:headache:
You're right. I realized the sensitivity of the touch pad is very, very light. I've decided to keep it that way and just adapt to it. Also, I refuse to give up. I will win out in the end!!! I'm determined!!!:cheer2:
Thanks, but not gonna do it....refuse to let it beat me!!! DH already bought one for his, but I will not let the machine win....I'm in control, not the mouse!!! Right!!!:upsidedow

:rotfl2: Deb, I know what you mean....a touch pad won't beat me!:sad2:

I had a warning about my signature. I have cut quite a bit out, but how on earth do you know, if you are an ordinary person, useless and a dork at techy things, what all the pixel, and all the other techy talk means?:confused3 Mine looks less than other folks now, but I guess the pictures take more thingumywhatsits. It is all very complicated.:sad2: I do understand the reasons though, but a 'warning' sounds so official and harder than other words that could be used. After all you get a warning for being inflammatory, trolling, spamming, etc on the boards, and I don't think I am bad!:sad2:Will have to post a post on the tech thread to see if anyone can check for me.

I had this a while back too so am trying to keep an eye on my sig but it's very complicated!:confused3

Did you notice that we are talking about SHOES again :scared1: popcorn:: :lmao:

Does anyone else feel like they are missing out on cool stuff? I can't keep up with 10 pages a day let alone some days when I've had over 30~! Ok, that might have been two days. I just come to the end and go back a few pages now. I can't do much more than that. :hourglass

Hope everyone is having a good time and I hope I'll have more time to jump in and chat soon!!!! Just two more weeks and I should be more available. (not that any of you actually care)... just and fyi. :headache:

Hey . . . we don't ramble . . . do we ramble? I don't think I ramble . . . but then again, what is rambling really? Is it saying a lot without saying anything? Or is it saying just a little that means nothing? Would I know rambling if it snuck up and bit me?

Us ramble . . . NEVER - these are important conversations!

very very important conversations go on here...every day! :rolleyes1 There's the one about shoes, the one about champagne tasting, the ones about mascots, the one about shoes, the one about logo's, the ones about lists, the one about shoes...oh yes and the silly ones about sport!;) :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Now I can be a Champagne girl . . . NOT.

Maybe we need a "Beer Boys" - Maybe use one of the lost boys to keep the Peter Pan theme . . . Of course, I am about a party of ONE for that group, unless Dennis has time to get back on.

Love that idea! Mark would be into that too John :thumbsup2

Totally not what John's thinking, but I keep picturing a scantily clad man cooling us with palm fronds....

Carolyn

:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Yes, it could be Peter Pan instead of the Lost Boys. The Lost Boys would be funny, but Peter might be more in keeping with the theme.

....or maybe Captain Hook!;)

Yeah, I'll wear some really short shorts, some Uggs, and a beer boy t-shirt to the deck sailaway party, and they can put the gangplank back for everyone who will then abandon ship.

I'm doing some house cleaning and bill paying today...then getting ready for Greek Easter this weekend. Do you celebrate Easter? If so, do you have any special plans. We're doing the traditional Greek dinner at mom's house. It's the biggest holiday of the year for Greeks. Easter Sunday is the only day that shops, garden centres, etc are not allowed to open so it is a little strange out and about. I think our corner shops as we call them and tourist shops can open though. We are so used to Supermarkets being open, allbeit with shorter hours, on a Sunday these days that it is easy to run out of something and then not be able to get it!!

Lamb is still a popular meat to eat but Turkey has also become popular too. Giving other presents is catching on, though not with us particularly as we are older and will resist it to the end!!!:lmao:

Hi Marilyn, isn't it funny how a traditional holiday evolves... what are your plans on Sunday? Will you do a big family dinner? Will you color eggs? Do you hide them? For American Easter the tradition is to make the eggs all colors and hide them. Then you have an Easter egg hunt and probably win little prizes. For Greek Easter the tradition is to make all the eggs red and you have an Easter egg fight...really two people just hit each other's eggs and the one that doesn't break, wins. There are no gifts or prizes for the winner....just bragging rights.:cool2:

Growing up Easter was low key and we never did anything special, so we never did with our children. I think some areas of the country did Easter egg rolling as a traditional thing. Now I hear of parents doing Easter Egg hunts etc I feel I was pretty useless at that type of thing!!:rotfl: Another tradition used to be Easter bonnet competition and we never did that either. Our local area had 'Pace Egg' plays on Good Friday. We went to watch it every year - it was performed out in open places around the district - but I never had any idea what it was about. :confused3 Nothing to do with Easter I think!

Well that's enlightening and different. It's theatrical with costumes...representing good over evil and the symbol of the egg is prosperity. It is almost as if there is no religious correlation, whereas the American and Greek traditions are both based on religion. Of course, it's very commercialized today.

And somehow Hot Crossed Buns becomes a part of it all too. How did that get in there? I wonder.:confused3

Thank you John, now can you write it in Greek, so I know how close I'm coming to the words when I sing it...Great to know now what it means.

Yes, it is sung for hours after midnight and everytime you start again you make the sign of the cross backwards three times.

To me, not having had any understanding of what I was singing...it's a very tranquil and peaceful and calming song...that in addition to the church all lit up with candlelight only and the insence...it's so serene and quite beautiful. You feel spiritually fulfilled and whole.

Then get this everybody, at midnight, all the lights in the church go out and one candle is the light of God and every person in the church has at least one candle and they all get theirs lit by the light of God candle. The front row people get the first light and they pass it on until people standing out the doors get lit....then you don't put the candle out when you go home. You bring it into your house lit and bless your house for the next year. We have stood them in glass jars inside of water bowls and left them lit all night until morning. I have the candles from every year all over my house.

Didn't they set some kind of beer drinking speed record in Costa Maya?

If I can speedDIS, they can speed drink, I suppose.... (really, I was just teasing your sister....:) I don't think one beer on the way back to the ship really counts as Beer Drinking.)

I'll tell you about the psychic tomorrow--I can hardly keep my eyes open!

Night night!

I may want a name and number. My very favorite psychic (and a lovely lady) moved to Oregon a few years ago. Of course I do have a psychic sister to call upon when needed.

It was much better, although I'm not sure what I think about the "girl" being around. Can we trust her?! Oh and I loved Kate's flashback....amazing how all these people are connected and don't know it. I'm keeping my comments on the sly so as to not give anything away for those who haven't watched it.......

Oh, did you see next week's preview....with Sayid and her??? Think he'll get some answers?

I loved what was going on on the beach with Sawyer and the group too.:grouphug:

I don't beleive in all the gift buying these days either, when the children were little I used to buy them eggs etc but I just gave them little chocolate Lindt rabbits this year

Yeah, what's up with the gift stuff?. I heard my boss ask one of the other managers what she was giving her daughter for Easter. They then discussed toys/electric gadgets/CDs and DVDs. :confused3 I thought it was a basket of eggs and candy (and maybe a stuffed bunny) and a new outfit for church? At least that's what it was....back in the 'olden' days! :lmao:

Carolyn

I was just amazed at how fast that beer went down. It was nasty hot and humid that day. I guess it's because I'm a beer sipper....I probably drink a beer slower than I do a glass of wine (and don't have either very often).

All caught up just in time to hit the shower.....later kids!

OK I'm finished for now...got busy work in the house then the two teen boys, grandsons, are coming to sleep here tonight and tomorrow. Their parents, DD and DSIL, are going to Atlantic City until Saturday night. DSIL is getting in on a couple of poker tournaments there. Hope he wins big so he can throw some money towards our Oct 07 cruise together. HA HA HA:laughing:

The house should be very bustling and chaotic for the next few days....See empty nesters, they never actually leave, they come back and when they do they bring more people, kids, and pets.....Yes, their dog is coming with the boys too. Well, the old guy I work for is the senior partner of the firm, so whatever he says goes....and I'm sure if I tell him how miserable I'm feeling, he'll instruct me to go home. BUT he's been on the phone and in meetings all morning, so I haven't had the chance yet to talk to him.

I have no appetite except for a major soup craving, so I'm hoping to go home, have some soup, and go to sleep.

Ahem, you should have bought an HP laptop, then you would be loving you laptop. Just kidding....just keeping DH happy by pushing HP products, again, just kidding.....

Oops, sorry, forgot about those :rolleyes1 Really, I just need a computer that doesn't have some panicky gliche every day that makes me freak over losing everything and gives me a headache:scared: Does that really exist?

Hey Holly (and anyone else) let us know when you have watched it so we can chat about theories and such. I have some major questions after this one !
So, even though your DH is not a beer drinker, I think the beer boys can have mascots and honorary members as well.

Yup, my DH thinks that will "magically happen" too! He is as bad as I am!! Pack-rat married pack-rat!!:scared1: :scared1:

Karen

wish I married a pack rat, might not be so bad for me. Mine throws away everything after 30 seconds of un-use. He has no understanding that EVERYTHING could (and should) be used in a scrapbook at some point!:lmao:

Holly, Hope you get to leave work early and fell better. Make some hot soup and go to bed. My favorite (hot bath, drink hot tea while in bath, bundle up and go to bed to sweat it out!) works really well for most people if you can stand being miserably hot for a while.

Yup, I have a big can of soup at home calling my name. 3 more hours left and I can go home.

And regarding computers, I've had an Averatec laptop (which is the cheapest of the cheapest around) for over 3 years and it never gives me any trouble. (Knocking on wood right now!) It gets bumped and banged around all the time because it goes to and from class, on vacations, all around the house, etc. My biggest problem is that the letters are starting to wear off the keyboard because I use it so much. :)

Noel?

Karen

I think you covered them all. Here are our official holidays in sequence:

Federal Legal Holidays 2007
• January 1, 2007: New Year's Day [Jan. 1 every year]
• January 2, 2007: national day of mourning, Gerald R. Ford

• February 19, 2007: Presidents Day (observed) [3rd Monday in Feb]
note: Presidents Day is also Washington's Birthday (observed)
• May 28, 2007: Memorial Day (observed) [last Monday in May]
• July 4, 2007: Independence Day [July 4 every year]
• September 3, 2007: Labor Day [1st Monday in Sept]
• October 8, 2007: Columbus Day (observed) [2nd Monday in Oct]
• November 11, 2007: Veterans' Day [Nov. 11 every year]
• November 22, 2007: Thanksgiving Day [4th Thursday in Nov]
• December 25, 2007: Christmas Day [Dec. 25 every year]

• December 25, 2008: Christmas Day [Dec. 25 every year]

extra federal legal holiday coming again in 2009 ...
January 20, 2009: Inauguration Day
[after U.S. presidential election, held every 4 years]

granmaz
04-05-2007, 11:02 AM
So that is 10 in a normal year, 11 in Presidential Inauguration year and then extras such as ex Presidents' deaths.

We basically have 8, but I think we have more normal vacation days than you do, though they vary greatly with the jobs folk do, with University lecturers probably coming out best and teachers next. John was a teacher so I can say that!!:rotfl:

For Deb and whoever else may be interested . . .

The traditional Greek Easter Hymn translated:

Christ has risen from the dead
By His death He trampled death
And those in the tombs,
bestowing to them the eternal life!

You can hear it here:

http://lent.goarch.org/holy_pascha/listen/

It is sung, oh, I don't know 40 some times after midnight in our church!

Yes....40 times or more...........thanks John, I actually only knew/heard the Greek versin of Christos Anesti. Our church did a lot in the Greek language, not much in english, so I appreciate seeing what I was singing all those years!

I remember the times my mom and I would drive home from church with the lit candle. I'd be so stressed that I'd set something on fire...she'd be driving so I'd be holding the candle and I was young. You know the whole, don't play with fire thing and then I'm holding a lit candle in a car! Phew! But you're right, it is truly a spiritual experience. I too, not knowing the words to what I was singing, found it all very peaceful!

Nice to see you again Noel, you have been missed! Hope everythink is ok.

My health is fine but have had some family issues related to inheritance etc. to deal with the lawyers and my surviving siblings etc. We had to deal with some issues regarding my deceased sister's surving son which were not properly handled in my father's trust. Resolution is not what we wanted but my father did not want to pay large legal fees so many of the contingencies that are in my DH and my personal trust were not covered in my father's trust.

Needless to say, it sure would have been less expensive in the long run if my father would have spent the money on the front end with my lawyer instead of the one he used really did not even want to administer the trust. My sister made eleven phone calls to her after my father's death which were not returned. Her only response was an acknowledgement of the transfer via letter from the new trust attorney of the transfer.

Lesson learned by my siblings is making a very basic trust with an attorney who makes basic trusts without considering ramfications has cost our family several hundred thousand dollars in legal and tax fees. Basic mistake the attorney made is not properly advising us to deal with the issues of money and property that my sisters minor son would inherit as a minor in the year before my fathers death.

On top of that stressful situation, I had to help my middle DD by taking care of her children while they deal with some medical issues related to her husband. With that and Easter this weekend, I may be on and off the computer through the weekend.

I always have Fridays off...so no work for me :cool1: I am actually leaving here at 6am tomorrow and driving to Redding, CA to the Costco there :lmao: and then heading home:scared1: Is there a smiley for crazy?! My girlfriend is hosting a fundraising Adult Prom for her DD's bowling team and she needs to purchase a large amount of alcohol for the event. She figured everything out and it would be cheaper to head to Cali and buy it there than to get it here in our liquor stores (even with the cost of gas and hotel). She asked me to go along to keep her company. Although it isn't ideal...2 days childless sounded kind of nice, so off I will head tomorrow am.

Thanks for the wonderful advice. I just wish it were a simple argument among siblings but things are never quite that simple. We are just worried about some of the issues about money and my nephew which were not addressed in the trust. Another minor problem of course are siblings DH's or BF's who think their opinion should carry weight when legally it does not. Luckily sister who is charge of the trust has last word and she and I don't have DH issues. Enough said!!

can today be over already?
My brain feels like mush!! I did a bit of grocery shopping last night and have some shrimp for tonight. Plan to toss it with some pasta and a light sauce of some sort. John has a game at 8:15, so this will be the third night in a row that he isn't really home....
no big plans for Easter...haven't heard from the Outlawz...my mom did ask us what we were doing but I just said nothing. I know that DH's paretns will be heading back to Ohio soon...well, probably end of April. Snow birds you know.

OK everybody, it's safe to talk about Lost now, unless there's somebody else here who cares and hasn't yet seen it. :goodvibes Just finished my soup, took some Nyquil, and am headed to bed with my laptop to watch Lost as I fall asleep. My chest is really hurting from coughing, so hopefully sleep and Nyquil will do the trick. And since I made it through the day today in my foggy state, I can surely make it through a 1/2 day tomorrow and will go back to bed again. :thumbsup2

Then we head to the IL's on Sunday for Easter...hopefully just for a quick bite, egg hunt and then out of there to get home again!

This is so funny! When we drive to CA we always stop at the Redding Costco. Last trip we had orders from several relatives/friends and loaded up the basket with booze. When I got to the check out the clerk looked at me and said "Washington or Oregon?" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I probably mentioned this already, but the Orthodox Church is often called the church of the Resurrection, and our word for Easter is Pascha, which in Greek means Passover.

Hope you are all enjoying the Greek Orthodoxy lessons!

DH has a bottle of white chilling in the fridge...the Stump Jump. I'm not sure if I'm going to like that one, but I'll try it anyway.:confused3

Karen, what goes best with lamb? red or white? We'll take some to Easter dinner at mom's on Sunday. Not sure what to choose. What do you suggest?

What are your plans for Easter Sunday? I think Greek and American are the same day this year...it's not always and we just celebrate Greek Easter, so I'm not always sure.:confused3

With Lamb it's Pinot, Pinot and Pinot!! Pinot Noir is really great with lamb, but it is not a very dry wine. You might try one of other Syrah that you ordered, the Petite Sirah or the O'Brien Merlot that you ordered.

Whites don't generally go that well with lamb, but it does depend on how it is being prepared.

We are going up to Bodega on Friday and then we will pop back for Easter at my sister's house. It's only an hourish drive.

Deb,

We've done all of the above! We always color eggs, this year we will do them in Bodega which is fun as the counter is so big. We usually use the plastic eggs for the Easter egg hunts in the past, but all of the kids have gotten so big!:sad2:

We also did the Easter egg fight a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun!!

I still do Easter baskets for my family and close friends, usually See's candy and some sort of goody. I am doing some coffee mugs in a couple of my friends baskets and a cd and dvd for DD in hers. I often find cute "bunny" Jim Shore items for one of my dearest friends and for my sister.

I think that my sister is doing a crown rack of lamb or pork for dinner, not sure. We are bringing some fresh crab to do as appetizers in a cocktail. And of course, there will be wine!!!

Noel-it sounds like you guys have a lot hitting you at one time. I'm sure it will all be better soon. :grouphug:

Tyler gave me a very detailed description the other day about Easter and what it means, what happened to Jesus, how he came back to life after 3 days of being in the tomb, etc. Of course I already knew this, but it was funny how he thought I didn't know! Very cute! His day care is at a church and is very bible-study oriented, so I'm thrilled that he's learning so much because I agree about how so many people just don't know what Easter is all about anymore. :sad2:

You know for a couple of years there's been all this controversy over retailers going out of their way not to mention "Christmas" during the Christmas season? Everything is "Holiday" sales and "Holiday" trees and "Happy Holidays." Anyway, I saw a new one today: our local library is having a Spring egg hunt...not an Easter egg hunt. just got this in my DVC newsletter. Don't know if any of the DL visitors are planning a trip around this time. It might be on soft openings around the time of the dismeet though.

Opening date surfaces for Nemo subs
Leaders at Disneyland® Park in California have targeted June 11 as the official opening date for the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
The new attraction, detailed without an opening date in the spring edition of Vacation Magic magazine (which began mailing in February), will lead Guests on an expedition to the site of an erupting undersea volcano. Along the way, groundbreaking animation technology will let characters from the hit Disney/Pixar film Finding Nemo swim alongside the extensively refurbished submarines, appearing exactly as they do in the film (only in a real, three-dimensional underwater setting).

"We are literally bringing the undersea world of Finding Nemo off the screen and into the submarine lagoon," said Tom Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President and Senior Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering. "We are going to immerse our Guests in an adventure that will leave them in disbelief. They will want to experience this new attraction over and over to find out, 'How did they do that?'"

The new attraction marks the highly anticipated rebirth of the Park's original "E-ticket ride," as the Tomorrowland® lagoon was home to the original Submarine Voyage, which accepted the first "E-tickets" for admission on June 6, 1959. The attraction closed in 1998, and Internet chat rooms have buzzed with speculation ever since.

If everything remains on schedule, that speculation can give way to reviews on June 11!

Ahhhhh . . . but of course Eggs do have a lot to do with Easter . . .

We give out red eggs at the conclusion of our midnight resurrection service, the "Anastasi" - here is an explanation in better words than mine:

"Even though the Easter egg is obviously not an exclusive Christian introduction, its significance relates to the birth not of material life but to that spiritual experience enjoyed only in the life in Christ. Its symbolic adaptation to the events of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, His entombment, and finally His breaking of the bondage of death by His Resurrection, all find a fitting expression in the Easter egg. The red colour of the Orthodox Easter egg signifies the blood of Christ, its shell His three-day entombment, and its breaking His Resurrection by which the 'egg of life' brought forth a life, up to then unknown. The cracking of the red eggs among Orthodox symbolises a mutual wish for breaking one's bonds of sin and misery and for entering the new life issuing from Christ's Resurrection."

I got home about 10:00 from church - very moving service. I went to the church in town I was baptized at - not the one we are currently members at. There are two Greek Orthodox churches in town, about 5 miles from each other. Long story on all of this, but these days I am not feeling as much at home at the church where we are members - some politics within the church.

I was working on a door magnet for my october cruise, might do it as business card size magnets for each DIS cabin, check it out...

That is so cool! I love your logos.

Yeah, I'll wear some really short shorts, some Uggs, and a beer boy t-shirt to the deck sailaway party, and they can put the gangplank back for everyone who will then abandon ship.
Night all.

It rocked her little world. She was fine though. She is actually a big help. The hardest part was starting over with a new baby but it has been great also.

My pregnancy was a heterotopic one, so DD was a twin. I have high probabilities of having an ectopic pregnancy, and that is what has us mostly decided on one child only, but I know that DH would give almost anything to have another baby.

[COLOR="Teal"]Congrats on catching up! :) Are you going to WDW in September? Are you still going this month? Sounds great...2 trips to keep you occupied until May 08. By the way, we booked our hotel for next year in Zihuatenejo...March 08 So excited to go back there, this time for 10 days!!!

Yes, we are going from april 28th until may 5th, just DD and I with friends, and then from sept. 27th until oct. 6th DH, DD and I will rent a vacation home at Windsor Hills with another family.

You will have a great time in Zihuatanejo. I just hope you are not going Easter week or the week before, because that is when we have our holidays (the entire country at the same time) and the beaches like Acapulco, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and Cancún are mobbed. Of course if you are staying at the same place you won´t have much trouble if you stay most of the time at the hotel.

I have absolutely no idea. I just clicked on favorites, then click add, and whenever I click on the link there, it goes back to the last page I was on. But when I leave, I do have to re-add the link under favorites so it will be on the page I left off at next time I click the link.

Good idea, thanks! :thumbsup2

I will defiently try this tonight.

Well I have had my blood test and have eaten some lovely seeded bread toast and a home made cappuccino!!! Yum.

I hope you get your results soon and that they are good.

I hope you are feeling better now Holly. Take care of yourself.

It's lovely out and we are in for a mini heatwave this weekend and next week - 18-20deg Celsius(sorry, can't convert!).

I always thought that the UK used farenheight degrees too. Do you use the metric system or the same as the US?

I hate when that happens to people. We see it all the time at my office.

I hope everything can be resolved soon without much more stress Noel.

Tonight is the service of the crucifixion at church.

One of the most moving hymns is sung tonight as the priest carries a cross around the church in a procession, while chanting the hymn that is at this link:

http://www.newbyz.org/todayishung.pdf

Twelve Gospel readings are read tonight detailing the passion, and after the Gospel of the crucifixion, the congregation files up to the cross (which is about 1/3 life size, with Christ on it) and lights a candle and venerates the cross.

I probably mentioned this already, but the Orthodox Church is often called the church of the Resurrection, and our word for Easter is Pascha, which in Greek means Passover.

Hope you are all enjoying the Greek Orthodoxy lessons!

Our word for Easter is Pascua, and our traditions are a lot like yours John. Only we do the Viacrucis (the Godspell readings) on Friday.

DH might be changing jobs the next year, and if he does, he would most probably won´t have more than one week or 10 days permission to go on vacation so soon, so we have talked about it and agreed that if necessary, he would leave the ship in Acapulco and fly home the day the Magic docks there, and that DD and I will remain in the ship until the end of the cruise.

Have you ever known of someone doing something similar?

TIA

You know for a couple of years there's been all this controversy over retailers going out of their way not to mention "Christmas" during the Christmas season? Everything is "Holiday" sales and "Holiday" trees and "Happy Holidays." Anyway, I saw a new one today: our local library is having a Spring egg hunt...not an Easter egg hunt. Oh, brother. Now I know that eggs don't really have a darn thing to do with the Christian Easter, but what is a spring egg hunt?
I know, give me a break......that's all I can say on the issue. Can you imagine walking into someone's house looking at their Christmas tree (which really, has nothing to do with Jesus, but it is a signifier of the season) and saying, "oh, your HOLIDAY tree is just lovely"................:confused3

Off to get the kids ready for church also. Our service is called Maundy Thursday. The service always involves communion, signifying the last supper. We're doing a readers' theater with men from our church portraying the twelve disciples at the last supper. There's your lesson on what the Presbyterians are up to tonight.
That sounds really cool!

I am signing off now for my whirlwind trip to Cali. Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend. Sounds like everyone will be busy this weekend, so maybe there won't be too many pages to catch up on.
Drive safe...sounds like a fun trip!

That's the reason we (my mom and I) ended up leaving the Greek Orthodox Church. They seemed to have issue with the fact that my mom was divorced, yet she is 100% Greek and was VERY involved with the Philoptihos (sp) and the church building board. So those ridiculous politics drove her and then me out (shortly after my marriage).

I have no idea as to the answer but I would call DCL on something like that. Good luck!

Yes, this is one of my "pet peeves"!!! In a country that is founded on everyone saying what they want, why do we always have to be so PC!! If you don't celebrate it, fine! I don't get in the way of everyone else's beliefs!!:headache:

Ok, off the soap box again...:rolleyes1

just got this in my DVC newsletter. Don't know if any of the DL visitors are planning a trip around this time. It might be on soft openings around the time of the dismeet though.

If everything remains on schedule, that speculation can give way to reviews on June 11!

We will be one month too early!!:sad1:

Oh well, we'll just have to go again in the fall..:rolleyes1

I have told you guys my DH is a minister. He has for years run a sunrise service at the Bull Run Cemetary. (we live right in the middle of Civil War History) This year the sun rises at 6:44am. Two years ago, DH's mom passed away and she is buried there.

Anyway, many have been talking about the cold weather for the weekend. At sunrise Sunday, it is supposed to be 20 degrees here. I told DH...sorry....I'm not going this year!!

Brrrrrr! :cold: Don't blame you for staying in a warm bed!:thumbsup2

Shouldn't mention that it was 81 here today...:rolleyes1

Ahhhhh . . . but of course Eggs do have a lot to do with Easter . .

Thank you, John! I really do enjoy enlightenment!! Learning new things is always a joy to me!!

Enjoy your wonderful, spiritual weekend!!

just got this in my DVC newsletter.

I would love to go on this Nemo ride!!!

Brrr, don't blame you. I notice Georgia is cold too - is it an East coast(ish) thing?

I hope you get your results soon and that they are good.

The nurse thinks I will have to go on medication for the high cholesterol - tried the diet and enhanced yogurts but not helped.

We changed from farenheight to celcius quite a few years ago and we are slowly getting used to it. When we have high temperatures everyone resorts to farenheight as it sounds so much better saying those temperatures!!!

Good morning, Marilyn!

Was just waiting for the DIS to come back up. I am doing some last minute laundry before we go to the Bodega House and also bills and other paperwork!!;)

DH has already gone up, taking tomorrow as a work from home (Bodega) day and he has the laptop, so I have to be slightly less productive and DIS from our home office!! (So spoiled, I know...):rolleyes1

I too have to watch my cholestoral. Would probably help if I could drop some more weight.:sad2:

I have lowered it in the past utilizing a margarine called Take Choice and also Benecol. We currently use another that helps, but I can't think of the name.:confused3

I am also trying to get more oatmeal into my world. I am not a big fan of Oatmeal for breakfast, would rather have it in Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, but I'm sure that defeats the purpose.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
