View Full Version : Make Room Requests?

Is it better to make general room requests (ie. away from construction and dog rooms, shorter walk to parks, etc) before arriving at the hotel (RPR) or wait until we're checking in?
If before, what's the best method for contacting them?
We have a standard queen room, booked through an on-line travel site, so there won't be any perks but I'd love your recommendations for a tower/area/floor and/or room to ask for.
Thanks :)

Late to the party :headache: ...but you will want to 'call' to attach requests to your res. I faxed them and they were never received.... (apparently the fax goes to the business center NOT the front desk/reservation dept :sad2: ) Also, renos/construction should be about finished. Tower 2 is for the pets. Tower 3 is close to pool/boats. Tower 1 is closest walk to parks (and good views of IOA). Whatever Tower you request, request 5th floor or higher....some trees have grown and may obstruct your view. We've stayed Tower 1, 7th floor with an awesome view of IOA.... 1733, 1731, 1729 (ours), 1727, etc....will get you one of the best views....best to be sure to request it tho! :thumbsup2

I just read your trip report from last summer. Sounds like you had a blast!
I loved your pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I'd like to ask for your opinion regarding tower choice - If we opt for Tower 1, how far is the walk to the boat dock? My DD likes to walk but can get fatigued easily (she has Down Syndrome). I think it will be better for us to save our energy for the parks and take the boat most of the time. The view of the parks would be nice to have but not if we'll need a nap after the walk to the boat!

probably around 100yds to the boatdock from tower 1,
Here on RPR site at Universal tower 1 is on the left as you look tower 3 on the right , and the boat going in to dock.

As Robert pointed out....it's not far at all! Maybe takes about 3 minutes.... When you look at maps of the hotels at Universal, they are deceiving....everything LOOKS like a far walk, but really isn't. *Putting on flame retardant suit here*.... There are also rickshaws that run from the hotels to the parks...they are free and work for tips....always another option if your DD gets tired during the walk :thumbsup2

Great advice from both of you.
I had the idea from other postings that the resort is HUGE.
Robert - that view from the brochure really makes it easy to get an idea of where the dock is in relation to the towers. Doesn't look far at all.
'Mom' - the rickshaw is new to me but it sounds like an excellent option in case we decide to give the walk a try - and then wish we hadn't! Do they run on a regular schedule?

They can be seen mostly in the afternoon and evenings....but they should be out and about.... I don't think they have a 'set schedule' but there are usually a few of them waiting for folks. Most times you'll see them at the entrance to the walkways FROM the parks TO the hotels....I haven't seen them 'hangout' at the hotels to take you TO the parks as often as coming back :confused3
Guess they figure they make some bux on the peeps who figure they won't wait for the boat (cuz lines get long when parks close) and then realize they are too tired to walk..... ;)
Honestly...don't fret about the walk...it's really not that far. I remember planning our first onsite stay worrying about it too..... how dumb did i feel?? :headache:

I tried to request location of room and mini fridge for medical reasons and was told by front desk person that because I had booked through travel agent, that they would have to make requests. Has anyone else had that experience?
