I posted this on another thread and someone said I should post it here also. I am trying to get all the ideas that I can.
We are going to be at Disneyworld the week of April 7-11.
My family has invited my son's best friend to go along. The BF is 15 and was told a year ago that he has cancer. It has been a REALLY hard year for him and his family (physically and financially). I offered to pay for the disney ticket and my church family has offered to give money to cover his airfare.
I just want this 15 year old to have 1 week that he can be a kid with no worries. I would LOVE to do something special in the park for him.
I thought about the parades, is there a way I can ask if he can be in one of the parades?
If anyone knows, please let me know who I would need to contact.
If anybody has any other great ideas (no cost or very low cost) PLEASE let me know...Thanks in advance!

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!
I think the most important thing is to let him take the lead. If he thinks it is time for a break, it is definitely time for a break as you don't want to wear him out. Note if you are in the middle of a park and he needs to rest try going over to the First Aid Station at each park. They are cool and have a place to relax.
If he has a wheelchair bring it along. Most people tend to walk 8-10 miles per day and it can be very exhausting.
If he needs to avoid the sun, such as from some Chemotherapy medicines, he definitely should get a Guest Assistance Card.
Does he have special dietary restrictions?
I would suggest looking through the disABILITIES FAQ, which is a sticky in this forum.
Are you staying at a Disney owned and operated resort or somewhere else? Do you have dining reservations? Is this trip two adults and two boys, or something else? More information can assist in answering some questions.

He no longer has the wheelchair. But, I am thinking it might be a good idea to rent one in case he gets tired?
He does need to stay out of the sun as much as he can. I just found out today about the GAC - do all the rides have a sunny place to wait or just some?
We are staying offsite. I have 5 in my family plus, my mom is going, plus the BF. So, there are 7 of us total.

Doesn't GAC let only 6 people?

I just found about this today and have been reading up on it.
What I have read does say 6. But, that is ok, my mom is not able to ride many of the rides. She will only ride a few and on those, the teens can go to the shady area while we go to the regular line.
