Well, I finally did it! I bought those $86 tix and booked a room at Royal Pacific for Dec. 15-19:woohoo:
I know I might regret it...but I booked Disney after our RPR stay. I have been trying to read up about Universal here. I've been to Disney several times but never to Universal! I think ds7 is tall enough now to ride/enjoy more at US/IOA. We'll move to SOG for 19-26th:cloud9:
Don't mind me...I might be asking ya lots of ?'s:rolleyes1 :rotfl: :cool1: I'm so excited!
ETA: maybe I should add that I didn't mind doing Disney after US b/c DH is disabled and gets a disability pass ;)

Our family are COMPLETE Disney nuts, everything disney in our lives, annual passes, DVC, etc. etc. etc.
BUT, we LOVE FOTL access at Universal and LOVE RPR
To be honest with you, I HATE the rides at IOA, and most of the rides at Universal (my family says I am a complete wuss) and my family doesn't like alot of the coasters at IOA, but that would NEVER, EVER stop us from our every-other-year Universal visit.
You just won't believe how wonderful it is to sleep late, and still be able to get on all the rides....it is wonderful.
I don't love the food at the parks but there are so many other options (CityWalk, hotels, etc.)
Disney's food has Universal beat, but NOT the easy access to the parks (NO BUSES!) or the FOTL access.
We also do Universal first, and then Disney. Any questions, please ask.

My family loves Disney. But US and IOA are winning them over. The kids are getting older and bolder.Hence more thrill rides.Hubbie and I are getting older(only in age).Hence the laid back atmosphere at the resorts(RPR our fav not because of price)and CW.We can finally go and see the clubs!!!
Keep asking questions and we will help.:thumbsup2

Hey, Linda!!!:wave2: I know you won't regret the FOTL priviledges, they are awesome!!
My DH and DS actually prefer USO to WDW. We are actually considering doing US this summer without Disney.:rolleyes1 Just beware that you may be creating a monster!!:lmao: :lmao:
You can ask any questions you want.....we'll have to talk.:hyper2: :chat: ;)

Hey there Donna:hug: Oh, I have a feeling those FOTL priv. definitely spoils ya!!:cloud9: :woohoo:
I was showing Kenny the website yesterday and he was getting ALL excited about it!:yay: Then he tells me that when we met up that your ds told him that he does likes US better than wdw;):cool1: Of coarse I had to go re-measure him to see if he's grown enough to ride some of the bigger rides:rotfl: I told him that Dec is quite awhile away and he could grow another few inches by then. I'm sure he will w/the way he's been growing out of his jeans!!! yes, we'll definitely have to talk:woohoo: oh, I still haven't told Mike about it though:rolleyes1 :rotfl2: I'm sure he'll love the FOTL w/how his back is!!!!:worship: :cheer2:
thank you all, I'm sure I'll be lurking and asking plenty of questions:cool1:I played all the videos on the site and ds and I are both so excited about it. So far we're keeping it a secret from dh that we're going there:laughing: Last year, I had several secrets about our trip. They didn't know we were staying at Poly after SOG until the night before. They didn't know about the Illuminations cruise...stuff like that. its nice to have fun and surprises they don't expect ;) esp. during the holidays:cloud9: :yay:

:lmao: I think I remember Nathan saying that to Kenny.:rolleyes1 I usually give him "the look" when he says that, but I guess that's how he really feels.
I'm sure there will be plenty of new and fun things for Kenny to do. The first year we took Nathan, he wasn't tall enough for a couple of the rides, but we had a blast anyway!!:woohoo:

Universal Orlando by Kelly Monaghan is THE best book to read about Universal. It will tell you everything about each ride, show, eatin' place, park, CityWalk and hotel. An absolute MUST for ANY 1st timer to UO. ;)
(& "NO"...I don't get paid to endorse his book...it really is THAT good :thumbsup2 )

you can also receive a guest assistance card at universal.
go to guest services and talk the the TM there.
they are very accomodating.
since you are staying on site, your room key acts as the "fast pass"
all in your party can use the express lanes, just show your room key.
you will have a very merry Christmas in orlando this year.
have a ball!

I am going for the first time too on Thursday April 17 -21. I am a Disney nut and go 5 times a year. This will be my first stay at royal pacific. Kinda feeling out of touch, I feel very comfy with Disney, kinda scared of Universal, but going to give it a try.

With only 4 days to go before we begin our vacation I may be back with some last-=minute questions but I wanted to say "thanks" for all the great advice and 'insider tips' you share with us on the boards. Trip planning can be intimidating when we're going to a new place - you and other generous members have made it easy! :flower3:

The thing that I've noticed as an obsessive planner is that for a Universal trip, except for planning the flight, accommodations, and tickets, I don't have to plan. Why? Because the FOTL pass makes it so easy to ride and see attractions that I don't worry about time wasted in line. Instead of worrying about seeing or doing everything, I can relax. It's a real vacation.
Y'all have a wonderful time!!!

if you have any last minute questions, please come here or send me a pm if no one here answers quickly enough for you.
the first time i went to universal, i did it in a rush to get everything in.
the next day i did repeats on the rides.
third day, i worked in the shows and musicals.
fourth day, spent a leisure time in the parks and explored city walk.
many people say they can do universal in 2 days. if you do highlights yes that is correct.
you can do the movies at the cineplex at city walk, dine at city walk, shop there, do the parks, see the hotels, swim/pool hop if you stay on site.....
lots to keep a person busy.
you will have a great time.
i love helping homies out when they go to universal.
